before leaving to blow up a moat

Din decided to be a far more helpful and informative person than Bowser had been, telling Geno about the master of masters, the keyblade and kirby’s heart creation skill. This last bit was new to bowser and he actually took it in even as he responded with her suggestion to try it after she failed with: “NO WAY I’M DOING SOMETHING THAT SILLY LOOKING”

The Master of Masters added to this discussion a lot more mushy stuff that mostly went in one ear and out the other. The king was however quite certain he had a great deal of inner strength, certainly enough to to match his outer might and that he would, if necessary, be able to make a heart.

some claw tip based trigger pushing later

Bowser was unsurprisingly rather displeased that he only got two minion souls out of his explosive outburst. He was sure he had seen more when he got close to the moat after rescuing the master of masters, but it seemed they had all fled in the interim. Or just been smart and escaped the mines before they went of. Nonetheless the king berated them as cowards under his breath as he popped the two souls in the jar that had once held the hammer bros and stuffed them in the pocket of his now rather battered jacket.

That plan might have not gone well, but it seemed that Geno had actually done some scouting while he was off on his own. Apparently, despite the exterior looking like it had the last time he had seen it, the castle had not escaped the twisted remaking of the world, and the fairy tail palace now featured wicked dungeons within which vile experiments were conducted. Definitely an improvement in Bowser’s opinion and he made a note to add just such a set of dungeons when he finally took over the mushroom kingdom. He was less enthused to hear about the presence of the mighty Donkey Kong. The king had replaced the rambunctious ape’s father and grandfather as Mario’s nemesis when the youngest kong had shown more interest in bananas than continuing the family feud. The two had met occasionally over the years, mainly in sporting events and also during that one time when he and Kamek traveled back in time to kidnap a bunch of babies, including his young self and baby dk, in an attempt to steal the stars of seven star children to become ruler of the universe. Speaking of Kamek, and ignoring the possibility of his kidnaping obsession being the result of a self inflicted stable time loop, he was very disappointed and a little hurt to find out that the koopa who had raised him was serving some new king. Sure, his minions got turned against him all the time but this was a new low.

“WHOEVER THIS WANNABE KING IS, THEY'RE IN FOR A WORLD OF HURT” the one true koopa king guaranteed.

All in all everyone looked like they were almost ready to get going into the castle to show the boss who was boss when its master decided to meet them prematurely. The herald of his arrival was rather impressive, their antagonist had wrecked some poor girl’s flying house and sent it carrening down towards them to announce his imminent arrival. Fortunately it did not crush anyone as it landed in the moat, but it did make an almighty splash that drenched those on the bridge. The people on the bridge mainly consisted of bowser, who was utterly soaked. It was somewhat deserved considering his bombing of said moat moments earlier. Then the cause of the calamity arrived, slamming down in between the castle’s front door and Bowser. Bowser recognised the winged beast as himself, while his Megabug possessed self showed no indication that the feeling was mutual and instead emanate an intimidating aura that stunned all before it.

Bowser was not a hero, but he was nonetheless unable to move forwards on account of a monetary headache resulting from confusion as to why there were two of him. Or rather that would have been his excuses if he could have read then narration. In truth he was briefly stunned by a combination of the same fear others felt in combined with the vietnam flashback memory of the time when he had looked just like the Bowser before them as a result of another mind control fiasco, namely that time he had come home from vacation early only to be possessed by a massive data bird thing that had been a result/cause of the rabbids rampage across the mushroom kingdom. Meanwhile his minions, who were already rather overworked as it was, where so spooked by megadragonbowser that they desummoned themselves, their items (the Necro Smasher, Slicer Cutter and Blazermate’s minigun) clattering to the ground around Bowser as they retreated inside his shell to cower.

The True King was brought back to his senses by the mutterings of the heros. Tora quiet defiance was one, driving him to push out of his dazed state for the sake of appearances. The other’s where direct questions at him. Bowser could not muster the courage/energy to explain that the suit was for a special occasion and question what was wrong with being naked anyway, but the first part about whether he had a brother did merit an answer.

“I don’t” the king’s voice was quieter than it had been all day and, even though it was normal speaking volume for others, it was clear that he was trying to whisper “No idea where the Bug on my back got another me from.” It was baffling. Sure he had had doppelgangers like dark bowser, but he there were none truly like the Koopa king. He had no brothers, no sisters, no mother, no father, no uncles, no aunts, no other members of species that sported those regal horns except for…

“JR?”

Bowser finished his train of thought out loud and at his normal volume, directing the question at the imposing possessed mirror image of himself. It something of a leap when it came to explanations, Galeem having power over time as well as space was more likely than the idea that Bowser Jr had suddenly grown up, yet this did not occurred to him mainly as a result of him mentally burying the consequences of such time shenanigans only moments earlier. The thought that Megadragonbowser was his beloved son stalled the True King’s hand far longer than the fear did as he awaited a response to his question.

Also, I should take this chance to remind everyone (but especially @DracoLunaris) how Strikers work. Bonding with a spirit to make it a Striker creates a relationship where its spirit is linked to your main character's for sustenance. Strikers have a set amount of effort they can expend, whether attacking, healing, or whatever, before they have to de-manifest. Just being manifested slowly drains this energy, but actingtakes more. In combat they're meant to act like assists in team-based fighting games, popping in for a moment for an attack, support action, or string of attacks before vanishing again to recuperate. If you're not familiar with assists, thinking of them as temporary summons might help. In a noncombat situation they can manifest for longer, but regardless they can't be around all the time. In exchange, they can't take permanent damage, instead simply de-manifesting if hurt too much.

oh shoot, was I supposed to be handling their duration? I guess I'll be paying for that by not having them around for most of this boss battle then. or was that a warning that you'd be poofing them?
To keep things from being too convenient, I'm going to say that heroes and junk falling in the moat scared away most of the aquatic life, and the Lakelurks and Toads remained near the bottom. Two blooper spirits, three bombfish spirits, and a biri spirit were all that came up.

fair enough. also I think i might save the pocket souls for bowser jr if we find him soon ish seeing as the only game he is controllable in is a simple strategy game, so him being a mook leader works pretty well. better to have him level up, get them and then combo the two turtles' powers than try and get all the minion team-ups in one/the remaining Bowser levels.

“Hahah! If I didn't know better, I'd say you were the hero of this story!”

Bowser was not pleased with the thanks he got for saving the Master of Masters.

“YEAH, YOU DO KNOW BETTER. I... UH... JUST BE THANKFUL THAT YOUR USEFUL TO ME OK!” the king responded in a slightly flustered manner. Had Mario seen him do that he wondered. Even if he had not, he was concerned that Geno tell him. Bowser was so caught up in his concern for his own image that he almost missed the dog-piling of the bridges guards. Agoston had finally caught up with the party and wasted no time in engaging in a brawled with the engineer, while Michel had apparently decided to reduce the risk of friendly fire by targeting the mostly ignored sentry. Zer0 picked up where the sniper left off however, and managed to catch the cowboy as he was attacking bastion. Said omnic was acting as an excellent distraction carnifex, or would have been if his allies had not been taken down so easily by one on one fights. Nevertheless he showed himself to warrant the half a dozen people targeting it as cannon jumping let him rain explosions down upon his attackers. It was up to Tora and Miniko to save the day with their attacks on the engineer and bastion respectively, and together they put down the last of their foes. Victory had come at a price however, and several of Bowser’s troops had been wounded by bastion’s last ditch bombardment

A commiserative “OH THAT HAS GOT TO HURT” was all Bowser could really offer to the many wounded. Fortunately his minions could do more, heralding their arrival via coffin smasher. The wooden mallet sailed though the air and bonked into Blazermate, repairing her of any damage she had received from the explosive rain rather than hurting her even more as might be expected. The hammer’s flight was quickly followed by Heel, who also soared through the air after being thrown by Sledge to land in the middle of the wounded. With a flourish, a green pulse of energy emerging from his back back which radiated out through the group, lightly healing everyone. The Rabbid gave “baa bwaaa”, as if it had just performed a magic trick, as the lightly wounded where cured entirely, while the lethally wounded were at least stabilized, removing some of the pressure of target prioritization from the single target healers. A few moments later the two bro’s arrived, Sledge lugging the mini-gun with him while Mallet went to retrieve the coffin smasher.

Seeing/expecting everything to be well in hand and trying to avoid looking like he cared that much Bowser bypassed his squad and went directly to Geno. “SO NICE OF YOU TO REJOIN US SO SOON GENO” he told the doll sarcastically.

“I SEE YOU BROUGHT THAT PESKY PLUMBER WITH YOU AS WELL. YOUR NOT EXACTLY DOING YOUR BEST TO GET ON MY GOOD SIDE MATCHSTICK” he added, menace dripping from his words. After a tension filled pause however he relented to practicality and sighed, telling Geno in a resigned voice that “YOU SHOULD GO TALK TO THE GUY YOUR ASKING ABOUT ABOUT GETTING MARIO FREE FROM GALEEM’S BOGUS.” he pointed a thumb over his shoulder at the Master of Masters.

Left grumpy as a result what he had just done and wishing to head of any accusations of mercy or kindness Bowser stomped over to Ratchet plucked the Maniac's bombuilder off of him.

“I’M BORROWING THIS”

Then he stomped over to the moat and pumped 4 proxy mines into it before turning his back on it and tossing the magic grenade launcher back to Ratchet. A few moments later the mines, along with a few bomb fish, detonated down in the water and the moat exploded behind Bowser, showering the party with a light rainfall and the souls of the various aquatic creatures that had been swimming below. The King had his most evil grin on his face while this happened, just to add to the moment and remind everyone that he was the baddest of bad dudes and not some wussy hero. After a few moments in reveling in the catharsis of this act ordered his minions to “GATHER UP THE BLOOPER SOULS FOR ME.” The two bros obeyed at once while Heel had to be given some indication as to what he was collecting. The souls of the monochrome squid like creatures were then quickly gathered up and brought to the king where they joined the spirits of his other minions in his now rather ragged coat pockets.

While they where doing this Bowser went and collected his hat again from where it had landed after hitting bastion at the start of the fight. Then he turned his attention to the castle itself, wondering what perils it might have in-store. None that could be more dangerous than Mario, that was for sure.

“SO WHAT’S IN THERE ANYWAY GENO?” He asked their supposed scout, refraining from actually looking at the wooden doll and keeping his eyes fixed squarely on the castle itself.

“Looks clear” Piper announced after having a good ol look around with her scope. Too clear perhaps, there did not appear to be any life in the area whatsoever other than the plants. She reattached the scope to her sniper pistol as the others introduced themselves. To those that where polite she responded:

“Good to meet you Delsin. Tiz”

She simply rolled her eyes at Boss’s agorgant introduction and then set off towards the large building along with the others. She hung back with the other team as they walked because the less time spent in the company of the boss the better. Bentley was leading the pair of humans who had introduced themselves earlier who were dressed in what she judged to be far more casual clothing than the Boss, which gave her hope they were more her kind of scoundrel than they were the Boss’s. If they even where scoundrels. Based on the gang memberships of her, the boss and Bentley, Piper would not put it past this counsel to have sent all of their less upstanding volunteers together into the dark without support, information or guidance like the other team had gotten because they were less concerned with their safety. Perhaps they had decided that the criminals could go clear the path for a more upstanding team to follow. That was maybe a bit paranoid, they were trying to save the whole of reality after all, but Piper had low expectations of those who held power and authority.

Together they crossed the incredibly long bridge, during which piper tried to engage in some mostly superfluous smalltalk with the other team mostly to pass the time. After what seemed like an age they entered the temple. Intinaly the inside seemed as empty as the outside, filled with statues strange creatures and little else. With on hand on her holstered carrio pistol Piper stepped away to inspect one of the statue more closely, only to be taken aback when an unseen pa system to them. The fact that spoke in an unknown yet understandable language which, along with the duality of the voice, made her adjust her identification of the source of the voice from intercom to magic mumbo jumbo.

Bentley was the one who spoke up in response and he did so very diplomatically all things considered. Piper might have added her own words to his in other circumstances, but currently she had a far more important task. As bentley carefully chose his words she marched over to the Boss and raised a single finger to his lips and shushed him in a preemptive and probably vain attempt to stop him saying something brass and confrontational that would ruin their chances of opening a dialogue.

“We both know you're not good at making friends” she whispered “So don’t screw this up with that abrasive mouth of yours”

She’d much rather not make enemies with the mystery voice till it presented a head to shoot off.

@ProPro
ah. I never saw any kings so that explains that
So now that the Courier has the spirit of a lakelurk ready to use, who's up for finding out what happens if I make it fuse with Bowser? :D Dragon turtle crab!

lakelurk are snapping turtles aren't they? Mirleurks are the crabs I think. so it would be Turtle Dragon Turtle.

soul wise I am going to have bowser fish for some bloopers if given the time to add to the minion soul hoard. then I will need to think of a combo attack for em. maybe ink napalm or something. or they all the form up into a giant Splattershot. or they get used a missiles. so many possibilities.

Thanks to the others drawing the attention of the engineer and Bastion Bowser managed to survive his foolish play without taking any real damage. The sentry’s AI was built for firing highly accurate streams of bullets and missiles at man sized targets and thus the king was able to safely block all its fire with his roughly human sized shield, the dumb machine incapable of attempting to outwit this stationary blockade. That said, the shield seems to be slowly cracking as it took fire, lines of damage growing and multiplying across the translucent barrier at an alarming rate. It was somewhat concerning then that, other than Blazermate, most of the others behind him did not make good time in joining the fight. Nevertheless, those that were engaged still in total outnumbered their target and their unintentional pincer move seemed to be going well. Blazermate got over to the injured Tora in good time, Minako seemed to do something that summoned a great sword wielding spirit that shrugged of fire with remarkable ease, his own minions where bombarding their foes and even a Galeel controlled had Rabbid joined the fight, one sporting the costume of Mario’s green brother, who managed to cast a weakening spell before he was blown away.

Still, despite their efforts his defences were being worn down, so it was much to his relief when the fire of the sentry suddenly ceased firing and swung away from him at the command of the engineer’s control gizzmo. As soon as he was free bowser flicked his hand to the side, buckler switching to claw configuration, ready to slice and dice while the king bore his teeth at the gate gradient. Before he get stuck in however the engineers plan became clearer as a quad of rockets sailed to his left and detonated against a precariously stacked pile of junk. This junk pile them started to collapse. Which was bad.

“OH NO” bowser said flatly and then, catching themselves simply staring at the imminently arriving doom forced himself into action “RUN AWAY!” he yelled at his minions before Grabbing the master of masters in one claw and feeling from the debris shower.

Said minions reacted as best they could. Sledge, while slow, had the advantage of being the furthest back from the engineer and thus to get away from the collapse all he had to do was lumbar back in the direction they had arrived from to escape, winding up next to Blazermate’s abandoned minigun in the process. His brother and Heel where less fortunate. Having been tossed both to the leftof Bowser and closer to the engineer they were the worst off of all when it came to the avalanche of junk and the two were sent running for their lives, the rabbid screaming his head off the whole way. The pair ran as fast as they could, repeatedly getting in each other’s way and occasionally shoving each other aside to gain ground in a manner that would had been comical had their lives not been in danger. Adding to the chaos the two had to avoid parts of scrap that where detaching from the main mass of the tower and pelting down at them, heralding the main body’s imminent arrival. A bulky cart slammed down in front of the pair, blocking forward progress. They both tried to race to either side only for those ways to be blocked as well, then so to was their rear. Trapped, the two could do little else other than cling together as a van, missing one of its doors, crashed down on top of them, silencing their screams.

A few moments after the avalanche had subsided a faint hissing could be heard, like someone having to take a few tries to turn on a light, and then a spot on the side of the van suddenly lit up bright orange. This orange spot swiftly carved a crude image of a rabbids face before the entire lump of metal was bashed free of the vehicle by a hammer. Heel popped out of the escape hole and raised his hands up in the air, one of which held the Slice Cutter, laughing in victory. The rabbid was then plucked from the van by a newly arrived Sledge. who had brought the minigun with him. Mallet then poked his head out and was given a more dignified hand out of the wreck by his bro. The smaller Hammer bro dusted himself off while Heel performed a little victory lap of the van, then he grabbed the rabid by his bouncing emergency light on a stick.

“Alright enough of that. Let's get back in the fight.”

The rabbid became rather dejected at the prospect, but nonetheless followed the bros as they picked their way through the wreckage towards the castle’s entryway.

Bowser meanwhile had made it clear fairly safely, his energy shield and shell blocking and loose debris and had ended up right next to (and almost in) the moat. He let down the Master of Masters and then shook his spiked shell free of impaled junk. He turned to engage the engineer, who was in the middle of being overwhelmed by latea riving melee attackers, but his focus was instead drawn to one of the castles windows, out of which the long absentee Geno suddenly smashed, carrying with him an unconscious “MARIO!”

The king roared the name of his worst enemy. Here was his nemesis, his foil, the greatest hero that ever who was at that very moment... unconscious? Had Geno, the nobody puppet, done that which Bowser had so many times failed to do. Had he defeated the mighty plumber? The king’s mind refused this possibility outright and yet the scene still left him stunned.
Well Ima day this - if anyone sees a big explosion coming from the roof of the castle, don’t hesitate to notice ya boi Geno finishing the job that Bowser couldn’t lol

"Mario isn't himself right now, so it doesn't count!" Bowser politely retorts as he is crushed beneath a mountain of falling scrap-metal.

Azura left Parvus behind, feeling uncomfortable. Partially because of the conversation itself, partially because she was not liking the fact that she felt thankful that the catastrophe that had given her an excuse to flee. As she flew into the night towards the point on Galbar directly beneath the explosion site the divine bird had to dodge the occasional piece of debris, 300 degree vision and sensitivity to the wind produced by their fall giving her just enough warning to avoid anything that might have hurt her. Sure, she could have just waited for this all to land, but that would mean risking any leads she found up there going cold. It would have also meant spending more time with Parvus and she really did not want to do that right now. Or possibly ever. Maybe one day she could have an interaction with a god that did not end with an explosion Azura mused as she dodged a particularly large chunk hurtling towards a newly discovered continent below.

She had skimmed by the northern tip of it on her travels and though she did wish to investigate it she’d be leaving that, and the introduction of her Gemstone Gardeners to its stone soars, till later. As it was she eventually successfully navigated the last vestiges of the crystal shower and arrived below the The Lustrous Garden, its distant remains hanging far above the atmosphere of Galbar. Now the only question was how she was going to reach it. A few failed attempts at simply pointing herself in the right direction and flapping really hard proved that no. She was not going to be able to just fly there.

After a bit of contemplation done while lazily shadowing the comet as it slowly drifted across the sky she decided that what she lacked was momentum and so she decided to compensate for this with a big run up and giving herself a bit of an extra push. What this decision resulted in was the creation of what was effectively a wind based railgun. She descended to just above the waves, then created two columns of rapidly cycling disk of air just above and to either side of her that reached all the way to the upper atmosphere. Once her creation was up to speed she took a deep breath, steeled herself and with a mighty flap entered the acceleration wind chamber. She began flapping, syncing each flap up so that it entered one of the spinning disks of air so that it gave her an extra burst of speed, destroying the disk in the process as she stole its energy. She raced through Galbar’s atmosphere, hurtling skywards at a recklessly high speed until suddenly she wasn't, and she was instead soaring through the heavens towards the remains of the second sun. About halfway through this flight she realized she did not have a plan as to how to stop. Because she was slowing down as she went higher she had about 4 times as long to think about this problem as she had had spent in blissful ignorance flying through vacuum. By the time she popped into Asceal’s sphere and Galbar’s gravity stopped having a slowing effect on her she had a plan. That plan involved screaming very loudly as she entered the debris field, emptying her cavernous lungs in a bid to halt her momentum with her breath. This almost worked up until the point that she plowed head first into a massive shard of crystal and everything went dark.

She awoke a few moments later with a splitting headache and surrounded by a small number of her own feathers drifting in the void. She did not pay them much mind however because the rest of the Sphere was truly a sight to behold. Millions upon millions of shards of glowing crystal floated freely in the sphere, free of Galbar’s gravity. Some were the size of splinters, others the size of homes and a few where the size of cites. Mesmerized, Azura set out to explore this strange disaster site. Most of it was the same crystal, thousands upon thousands of metric tons of it, and the bird god primarily navigated the maze of light by jumping from one large glowing rock to the other, using the air she had brought with her in her lungs to to course correct as she forced it to blow alongside her. The other interesting thing in here were bits of a once immense lens. The largest parts of it where the size of mountains that distorted the light from the crystal in strange ways, creating beams of light that slowly patrolled the sphere. Of the sphere’s mistress there was no sign. There where other souls to be found however, ones that zipped through the sphere towards some unknown destination. When she followed one it lead her to the very top of the sphere where she got her first sight of the sky pyres. Unlike Asceal she had no way of knowing what they were jsut by looking at them, but with the way they drew the dead she rightly suspected it was some kind of afterlife. She hoped the god of the dead was kind, but the infernal flames did not fill her with much confidence.

Having found more questions than she had answers the goddess prepared to return back to Galbar so that she could instead investigate the sphere containing the still function sun. She had said to Parvus that she believed she lacked foresight because she had spent to much time near the ground so perhaps the god who had spent their time in the sky would know more about what was going on and could rid Azura of the sensation dread that gripped her. One caused by being blind to events that could so easily overtake her. Destination set she made her way back through the remains of the Lustrous garden, grabbing a Azura sized lens as she went. She had seen what happened to things entering Galbar’s atmosphere too fast, and she did not want to join them in their toasted fate.

Azura fell and she fell fast, the lens having been maneuvered into leading the way as they plunged towards the atmosphere. An observer on Galbar would see them approach closer and closer at frightening speed until the sky was suddenly turned from black to blue in a small spot, one that rapidly grew as the atmosphere and Azura both came ever closer to one another. Then they touched and both Blue and Bird vanished.

Fire and heat wracked the lens as the goddess hid behind it, her talons feeling as though they were aflame where they penetrated the lense despite them being shielded from the worst of it. Around them, Galbar and the night sky had been replaced with the endless Blue, Azura’s glowing father's day aura having unintentionally allowed her to enter it from above like anyone who had struck the atmosphere of the day side of Galbar would do. Gradually the pair slowed as the lens bore the brunt of their atmospheric reentry. Once the fire had died down Azura dared open her wings slightly and, using them and the power of the wind, she halted their decent well before they reached the bottom of the Blue. Azura was home and it looked a bit different from how it had. Some of her floating temples were overgrown with dead or dying plant life while the air was blemished by strange phantom rivers. It was a mess but Azura did not mind much. Being back in her own domain put her at ease however and so she found these invasions more interesting than concerning. First things first however she stashed the lens fragment in one of her temples and then she set off towards the other side of Galbar via her Sphere, still seeking answers, but now happy to give over some time to investigating the various interesting oddities that had erupted since she had left along the way.

The rivers seemed to faze in and out of existence as she went and she discovered that she could not interact with these rivers particularly well either. Submerging herself in one did give her the sensation of being wet, but she could not drink the water and she emerged from it covered in nothing but a light dew. The plants meanwhile seemed to burst into bloom seemingly at random, and any structure brought to the same area would also soon be covered with life while the phenomenon lasted, but it too like the rivers would deacy in time and the plants would be left to die of dehydration. Some were lucky enough to drift through a phantom river at regular intervals but this was rare and so the main living plant life of the Blue ended up being cacti and other drought resistant plants that could also cling to their stony perches without fear of falling as they rolled through the sky. The Architect given knowledge of gods and spheres allowed her to make a relatively accurate guess as to what was going on: Shengshi and Phystene’s spheres where interacting with hers somehow and bleeding their dominions into the Blue, creating rivers and plants were previously none where to be found. She wondered how things were on the other side and if there were any other interactions that she was missing.

Azura decided to flex here creativity a bit to make use of these new phenomenon. She let her voice sing out a single clear note that pulsed through the nearby area of the Blue. Where it hit the waters of the Fengshui Fuyou it formed spectral fish like creatures with translucent flesh and glowing lights strung along their bodies that Azura named Phase Motes. Where it hit the plants from the world tree the leaves came alive and took to the air as small manta-ray like creatures called Loft Leaves, while the trunks and stems formed the first Grazer Drakes, long slimy creatures with royal blue flesh and tiny red horns which flew on several sets of frond like fins. The Phase Motes would be able to drink the rivers directly, taking nutrients and water from the nearby sphere. The Loft Leaves would sample the dew and drink the light of the blue. Finally the Grazer Drakes would munch on the dead plants, keeping the temples clean of dead material. She collectively dubbed these hand sized creatures Sky Slugs. As soon as they were made these simple creatures set about the business of existing and making the sky even weirder looking. Soon after their creation flocks of Phase Motes and Loft Leaves could be seen from the surface of Galbar, soaring from one phantom river to the next.

Satisfied with her bout of creativity she next decided to get a better view of Galbar and her sphere’s bizarre geometry, splaying the whole world out below her like a map, made this very easy. She could see the Eye and its gradually spreading greenery, various small mountains and islands that looked modified enough to maybe be gateways and the new continent she had seen a bit of earlier that seems to have been thrown into existence. It had large flat plains at one end, tall mountains at the other and a few interesting features that could be seen even from up here like a massive crevasse, some kind of shallow lake and...

”Oh gross. Is that blood? I hope that’s not blood.”

And a river of blood. She hoped she was either wrong or it was Kirron’s doing, because any other possibility did not bode well.

Eventually her circumnavigation of the globe brought her below the sun, at which point she dropped down, far more gently this time, and popped out of the bottom of her sphere into Galbar’s atmosphere. From there she dived down low and commenced a second wind launch. This time as she breached the atmosphere she brought some of it with her, wrapping it around herself so she could use it to guide her flight as she flew too close to the sun.
