"Whoa..." Damien had said when Rose hugged him. He hadn't expected her to do that. It would be so easy to… Not yet. I need to savor it. When Rose broke contact, Damien smiled back at her while presenting the bouquet. "I've missed you too… And I got her today actually. And as crazy as it sounds, I've been looking for you. Your coven to be exact." Damien said the last bit quietly as he nodded towards the direction Rose was already walking in. "We should probably keep moving. I've been in this town for a few hours and it's eerie. Even for my tastes. Plus I have a lot to unload on you." Damien had kept his smile going, but now his face was painted with concern.

"To make this quick. After Paris… I got sent back to Portland. I honestly got what I deserved for being such an idiot. And then just when things couldn't get any worse. Hunters hit my coven, hard. I made it out, but since then I've been trying to find a coven that's safe from that group you told me about years ago. That church cult that got your mom. They've been growing and they've been hitting covens left and right all over the country. I don't want to sound harsh, but I'm not here in Ember Grove for you…" Damien gave an uneasy look. The young man was troubled. "I want to help both covens here unite against the threat at hand. I know the group has always been here, but they've been more like a dormant volcano… I have a feeling they're using vamps, but I'm 100% on that. The last coven they hit hard was just outside of Atlanta and I think I think they're going to focus here on Ember Grove next."

Because their weapon has arrived… It can not only infiltrate your covens, but it seeks to massacre them. With both its tongue and wrath rivaling Lucifer himself, it will doom you. I can give you a hint, it's not vamps... The weapon is right here beside you, Rose… and you're about to aim it right at its target.

Damien was sure he knew what Rose was getting ready to do. She was smart, but there was one person she would keep in the loop when concerning something like this. Someone she always kept in contact with. Tell Violet… tell that stupid bitch about the impending danger.

Sean internally questioned Mia's reluctancy. He had long forgotten how many normal interactions occurred. You don't just intercept someone in the park while they're going on their evening run. Who the heck does that? Sean does, that's who.

He was going to speak in response to her initial silence before she proposed speaking while jogging. What? Unfortunately, he didn't have much of a choice. The girl was on the move already and Sean would have to play her game. He was capable, but wasn't very willing. With a grunt he took off towards the two small lights dancing in the darkness between the trees. Once he caught up to her, he matched her pace.

"Your mother never gave me this much trouble you know?" It was a slight complaint, but small chuckle escaped him as well. "As much as I want to go with the normal pleasantries, I always promised this little thing we have going would be strictly business." Sean took two good controlled breaths. "So I need an update on where you're at with the potion. I have about a week's supply left and we need to ensure I don't run out.

"Azriel. Do not fret. I will be fine. I will have the pleasure of being with Xenelith's vassals. Some may have committed acts as foul as our during this past week, so they may entertain even me. I thank you Xenelith. Perhaps we can compare our pleasures from today later. I may even show you what I do if I find the humans and the fools that hide then." A smooth snicker sounded in the minds of his companions. Then he focused his mental communication on Azriel. He wanted to pass on valuable information to his precious child. What she did with it was her choice and her consequence.

"Azriel…"

Umber walked away from the table and made his way to the exit in silence. He was surprised the fox lingered in the brothel, but perhaps it was in the creature's nature to pester and tip the cauldron over. Such mischievous creatures in lore. Perpetually finding trouble of some kind.

As the demon stepped outside, he winced and groaned at the high noon sun above him. Bringing the dark elf troops was a must indeed. The demon was powerful, but his exposure to the sun during this time of day weakened him heavily. It was a good thing he had at least feasted on the appetizing emotions inside. It gave him enough strength to float over the crowded city as opposed to walking. Sure, his path would be cleared by the fearful onlookers, but telekinetic levitation was preferred. He moved with haste to Xenelith's troops. He'd only need a handful at most. He was oddly determined... Perhaps the elusive Elsea was among them.

"She did? Alone?" Damien asked softly as he walked down the streets of Ember Grove inquiring about a certain someone's activities. He had spent hours walking and thinking about his plans for this weekend. The man had confirmed several things this evening. Witches, vampires, and werewolves were present in this town, vampires were largest in number, Alexei's was somehow a neutral hotspot for all manner of supernatural, vampires were most likely hitting the hospital for blood regularly, and there was a scuffle between a werewolf faction and vampire faction in the woods earlier tonight.

His eyes peered up to a raven perched on a street lamp. Lucy She was a great reconnaissance asset and he wouldn't know nearly half of things he gathered tonight without her. She wasn't the best familiar to have around the home without garnering a little suspicion. Sure, people had ravens as pets, but how bad would it look to have such a cliche creature in your apartment if you were suspected of being a witch? Lucy wasn't subtle at his side but she made a great spy from a distance. She croaked twice and turned her body in the direction she wanted Damien to walk towards at the intersection he was approaching.

Damien didn't know what to feel right now. He was the verge of intercepting her. He had confronted the others that abandoned him the night he was caught attempting to perform necromancy involving a human sacrifice, but the reunions with them did not kick up the amount of contempt he felt now. Without realizing it, he tightened his grip around the stems of the bouquet of flowers. The sound of the plastic crinkling beneath his grip was ignored. His teeth ground as he seemed to snarl at the thought of Rose. If there was a question on whether or not he would murder her bloody in the streets of Ember Grove, his current thoughts answered with the most brutally satisfying fantasies of violence.

Damien's eyes began to glow yellow, each step towards the intersection coincided with his increasing bloodlust. Would he use his claws to swipe at her face, disfiguring it as she cried out in confusion, blinded by the loss of her eyes? Then he could grab and gut her right on the sidewalk. Or maybe he would go straight for the jugular like the beast he had grown to accept himself as? He could be quick… Take a single bite and then watch her bleed out. What about dismemberment? Or skinning her with the claws… Perhaps eating her guts while she screamed for her life…

Lucy croaked, causing Damien to blink a few times and stop in his tracks. You're right Lucy… Patience. When I kill her, she will feel the betrayal and pain I felt when I lost everything. When the time comes, I WILL TAKE EVERYTHING FROM HER! Damien blinked a few times and his eyes reverted back to normal. He then made sure to straighten of the plastic wrapping on the bouquet before turning right at the intersection. With a few deep breaths he was calm again with a hopeful smile on his face as he saw a figure in the distance walking straight towards him in the distance. It was definitely her. Lucy fluttered to a street light between the two and croaked vigorously. Perhaps to get Rose's attention, or maybe it was a menacing ding ding ding!

"I… can't believe it." Damien said in shock before looking up at Lucy who croaked again. "Yes you were right, Lucy. No need to rub it in." Damien said quietly as he rolled his eyes. He almost seemed to forget Rose was there for a second or how she might react to seeing him. His eyes met hers and put on an uneasy smile as he didn't know how she would react. "Rose… um… hey." Damien said nervously.

Like she'd mentioned, the walk to the office wasn't all that long. She was on Phyllis' desk, searching through her drawer until she found the application stack. The only reason she was going through someone else's things was because they'd previously touched on the topic. Being that Phyllis was the office administrator and she worked the typical 9-5 schedule, some of the staff would occasionally stop by her desk to get any paperwork they needed outside of business hours.

With the application in hand, Nathalie headed back to the cafeteria, a little more eager than before to finally have the chance to eat. She again waved at some of her coworkers and turned the corner before walking in through the door to the cafeteria. Spotting Damien, she walked over to the table he was at and placed the application aside.

"All set. I'll help you fill it out once we're done eating."

"Sounds like a plan." Damien didn't waste any time digging into his food. "Hey, so I overheard someone talking about missing blood… Someone's actually stealing blood?" Damien probed the idea in between bites. He pretended to be a bit surprised by the information. No one had mentioned anything of the sort, but in Damien's travels, he found trends within vampire clans. He wasn't just confirming vampiric activities. He wanted to know the perspective of someone who appeared to not be tied to the supernatural.

The question took her by surprise. Nathalie knew some of the details of the incident but she wasn't aware of the specifics. On the other hand, she didn't want to give away information that would hinder the hospital's investigation.

Nathalie opened the to-go plate and took her first bite, buying herself some time.

"Yes, there have been some thefts in the laboratory, though I'm not sure what they're doing about that," she shrugged, smiling a little to keep the conversation friendly. "Hopefully they catch the person or persons responsible. I mean, who in their right mind would steal blood?"

"That's the thing I'm trying to wrap my head around. I've heard people getting their organs stolen in China, but blood?" Damien tried to read Nathalie, but didn't get much of an expression from her. She either doesn't have a clue or she's one of those people that tries to deny they've seen or heard things. Damien smiled "Maybe it's some secret government organization trying to clone the oh so exceptional Ember Grove populace or maybe..." He took another bite and gulped it down quick. "Vampires!" Damien chuckled at the absurd idea. "Anyway, what's there to do around here? I consider you to be one of the locals now." Damien teased.

"Well, don't I feel honored?" she teased back, slightly weirded out he briefly touched on the supernatural. Nathalie had overheard some things in the past, about creatures roaming around and whatnot, but she'd never seen anything with her own two eyes so she never asked around. She had her suspicions, but never took it any further...not yet at least. "But, um, depends what you're into. I usually go to a bar every now and then, and if not I'll go bowling. There's a nice park here and also a lake I like to visit when the weather's just right. If you're the party animal then you can definitely check out some of the clubs they have here. I seldom visit them though, so I can't exactly give you my opinion of them."

"Then maybe we should do that. It could be a new experience for the both of us… But you know what? Let's try a bar first. Have you been to Alexei's? I hear it's nice for a small-town dive bar. And it wouldn't be fast tempo with blaring music. We'd probably never hear each other over the music if we hit the club. Maybe once we learn a bit more about each other." Damien appeared to be excited at the chance of going to Alexei's. He'd heard rumors about the place, and if they were correct, Nathalie would be the perfect person to show off there… especially if Rose was working that night.

"Alexei's it is. I'm off for two days starting tomorrow morning, and goodness knows I can use some drinks real soon." Nathalie took her last bite of food, quickly eyeing Michael who was looking for a place to eat. "I'm not an alcoholic though, promise," she joked, reaching for a napkin.

Damien noticed Nathalie's eyes glance to one of her coworkers. He figured that was his cue to start wrapping things up.

"Sounds like a… good time between two new friends." Damien played with the idea of it being a date, in order to joke back. He looked at Michael and smiled. "Your friend? How about exchange numbers and shoot for tomorrow night at the earliest?" Damien pulled out his phone, ready to add Nathalie's number.

"Alright, that'll work. By the way, that's Michael over there, one of the nurses in the ER. We work together, and sometimes he'll come get me if we're needed, though I think he just wants to eat right now. But anyway, my number's 312-555-0246. Do you want me to help you fill out the application? I can let you know what we're looking for so you don't waste too much time on it."

As Nathalie talked, she started cleaning up after herself, putting the used items in the to-go plate and then putting that in the bag. Damien did the same after he quickly input her number into his phone as a new contact. Once saved, he sent a text message that simply read Damien.

"Thanks. I'm really going to owe you if I get this job." Damien said gratefully as he grabbed the application and scooted his chair around the table's edge so Nathalie had better eyes on the document. "Alright, fill me in."

"Here, let me see this..."

Nathalie grabbed the form, giving it a quick glance front and back. "Alright so you're going to fill out your basic information up here, then down here you have the job history. I know it has plenty of slots, but realistically they check with about 3 of your previous employers so you don't need to include every single job you've ever had. Here in the back are the skills and references. Stick to skills relating to the job you're applying for, and if you're feeling a tad boastful then come interview time you can go in depth. And lastly, just give two references. Ideally, both are previous supervisors or something of the sort, but if not, then include at least one professional and one personal reference. Pretty simple, right?"

"Yeah, not too different from any other application out there. You saved me some time with the details on how much they're really checking for though." Damien grabbed the pen Nathalie had brought with the application and started to immediately fill it out. He was swift, but his handwriting was surprisingly neat. In reality, Damien had filled so many of these out since shacking up with the Holy Saviors. Going from town to town and trying to blend in with the locals had been his life for the past few years. The group had given him some generic information to use and it always worked like a charm. They were no Operation Humanity, but the saviors kept a tight-knit network across the country. "If everything goes well, how soon do you think I'll be working here… aaand done."

"Oh...good." Nathalie took the form from Damien, trying not to show her disappointment. Given the position he was applying for, she imagined he had not taken it all that serious as he'd barely filled anything out, and in turn, ended up wasting her time. But once she looked over the application, she noticed he had all the information there, or at least what she'd told him was required. Slightly stunned, Nathalie tried her best not to stutter. "I will, um, get this to Phyllis. You could be hearing back from her possibly tomorrow for an interview. After that, they conduct a quick background check and a drug test. All in all the process could take maybe like a week."

"A week? Not bad. I think I can last till then." Damien said with a nod. He had noticed an uneasiness that came from Nathalie when passing her the application and surmised that it was due to how quickly he filled out the form. At worst, she would find him to be an oddity, at best she may just shrug it off and forget it ever happened. Either way, Damien wasn't too worried. There was a brief silence as he darted his eyes away from hers. Then he met her eyes again. "I guess this is it. Our first farewell." Damien said a bright smile.

Nathalie got up, taking the bag with her. "I guess so," she added, returning his smile. "Let's meet tomorrow at 10, alright? Also, be on the lookout for that phone call." She pushed the chair in, making sure she wasn't leaving anything behind. At the same time Damien returned his chair to its proper place.

"I'll definitely keep my phone at the ready. And it was nice meeting you. Aaand I'll probably say this a few more times, but thanks again." Damien gave Nathalie a quick single motioned wave goodbye.

"Don't mention it," she waved back, making her way towards where Michael sat in order to ask him a question.

She's running a little late today… literally.

Sean Stone's forefoot seemed to bounce from the sidewalk with each step he took. The cool air and his high level of fitness kept the sweat at bay as he reached his fourth mile marker that was strategically placed across the street from the specific home of a particular young woman. She went on runs every other day like clockwork. And though he didn't plan his runs as late in the day, meeting her in isolation was important. He originally planned to approach her at her home, but the meeting would not have been optimal with both her brother and his female guest in the house. Changing up the original plan mildly bothered Sean, but everyone had to get theirs you know.

Sean checked his watch and narrowed his eyes at the home he was now passing. So many circumstances could have caused her to decide not to go out today, but he was banking on speaking to her tonight. Especially since he wanted to stake out some hotspots tonight. He was sure he would get the jump on something.

Sean almost smirked at the idea of going toe to toe with a creature of the night. Everyone had to get theirs, right? The sound of a door shutting behind him and down the street, caused Sean to turn to spot none other than Mia Young setting out for her evening jog. Because of this, Sean's smirk remained planted on his face. He had to make this quick.

Sean continued forward and rounded the block to intercept Mia on her typical run route. And that he did. He stepped out from around the corner of a back alley.

"Mia Young." Sean addressed the young girl sternly. "We need to talk. Won't be long. Sean crossed his arms over his navy blue t-shirt.

Darius almost couldn't believe he had traveled so far north in this new world. He hadn't liked the cold much. Snow, on the other hand, was always nice. Darius' eyes widened as he caught sight of beautiful snow-capped mountains of Daka. He and Myra had watched the view until Kol started asking about Darius' magic and what triggered it most.z

"What about sadness? Despair?"

"Uhh no. I haven't felt those since being here." Kol nodded at Darius' answer.

"Fear?"

"Truuust me, if it was fear, I'd be the god of everything water. You'd call me Hurricane Darius." Darius noticed that Kol wasn't amused by his joke. "Okay back to business. No, not fear. I've been afraid most of the time I've been here and not a drop of water came from it."

"That's actually a good thing. Hmm... So your magic had the most output when you faced your orc companion in defense of your demon… friend. And then again when our lord showed you the fates of the unfortunate. Anger for the latter... Outrage if I was going to pinpoint it. The other emotion being desperation? Or was that also outrage? Tying the correct emotion is paramount to how I plan on training you."

"Umm maybe both? In the beginning, Skar was about to backhand the hell out of me for not backing down, but then I tried to fight back. Probably fear, because I was actually scared. Scared, but ready to take a clean backhand." Darius nervously laughed, while Kol narrowed his eyes and a faint smile formed on his face.

"Child, that is courage. It was easier after that moment wasn't it? You must have been invigorated."

"Yeah… Yeah, you're right! You're pretty good at this. So courage and anger are the keys to output."

"Correct. You may even be able to tie the two together. You harbor anger to those who brought you here, and now you hope to bring your people back… against many odds. However, be wary of your anger. That feeling is volatile and may cloud your thoughts. It would grant you the most output, sure, but you would have little to no control over it. You must control your element, not simply unleash it."

"So I just have to be pissed off and brave, right?"

"Not brave. Courageous. One displays courage when they fight against something with fear still present in their hearts. Despite that fear, they face their foe… even if they believe they may not come out victorious."

Darius remained silent as Kol's words resonated with him. It reminded him of what his brother once told him about taking risks. Darius had always done things when he was either sure of or had a very good grip on the outcome. He didn't take risks because he lacked the courage… But here in Avalia, he had more courageous moments this week than in his normal life. Sure half of it was because he thought he was in some advanced virtual reality roleplaying game, but making the decision to stay here and standing up to Aklenroth in the throne room… It was because he was fighting for someone other than himself. He looked to Myra and then to Kol who was trying to get a read on his silence.

"Courage! I got it. It's perfect." Darius said with a grin. "Oh! Looks like we're landing. Let's take a look at this... place?" Darius raised his eyebrows as he looked upon the snow-covered and… empty Malthemoor, the second largest dark elf settlement in Avalia. Was it? The amora landed with grace onto the snow as Darius looked upon the settlement that appeared to be a collection of a few buildings next to a mountain. "This can't be it."

"My, you must be the cleverest human that came from your world…" Kol shook his head. He wished Darius would wait before speaking his mind. That would be a difficult lesson to teach indeed. "The rest is within that mountain. Hollowed out by Lord Aklenroth himself. We will not stay here long. We will head to the market and then we head immediately back to the castle."

"Deal, but can you give me a second." He walked over to Myra wearing the large black fur coat and chuckled. "It's a lot colder here, but are you okay without the coat. We can leave it in the amora if you want." Darius posed the question before turning towards a faint humming coming through from the woodline. He raised an eyebrow and started to walk in the direction of faint sound calling to him.

"You hear that? A woman singing… It sounds sad."

"We don't have the time to waste on sounds in the forest. The forest will silence it soon. Wolves, owlbears, and wendigos were made to answer such a…" Darius suddenly threw his sack of 5,000 amas at Kol.

"Add a Darius to that list! Come on Myra let's go help whoever's out there. Kol, you can go buy whatever you think I'll need." Darius ran into the treeline, following the pleading siren song. "Myra go ahead since you're faster. I'll catch up."

It was times like these where Damien missed his magic. Mindreading made for a good conversation booster. He knew the truth of what others thought rather than what they said. Knowing the raw ideas and feelings he heard from deep within a person was well worth the splitting headache it caused afterward.

Despite his earlier display of uneasiness, Damien kept his eyes on hers. An actual open job position in the hospital was something he was gambling with, so it was nice to know that panned out. However, Nathalie was who he'd really need. Being easy on the eyes was also a plus.

"I'll honestly take anything right now. Abercrombie & Fitch said I was too edgy looking and Spencers said I wasn't edgy enough, so I guess being an admin guy at the hospital is going to have to work for now." Damien smiled as he tried to keep the mood light. He then nodded to the new space in line behind her. He had noticed her eyes on his bouquet of flowers and figured he should address it. "The flowers are for an old friend by the way. We left off on a bad note, and I guess this a sorry slash reunion gift… a peace offering would be the best word for it." Damien's smile weakened. It was obvious this was somewhat of a sore subject for him. "Anyway, thanks for offering to help me go through the process at the hospital. Being the new guy in a small town isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Let me buy your lunch to call it even."

After purchasing the flowers with the cash he had been blessed with, Damien took a good whiff of the bouquet. Though a muted expression showed on his face, Damien was satisfied with the fresh scent of the flowers. The scent almost urged his beastlier side to want to go outdoors. However, another scent also tugged at him. The smell of cooked meat. The pretzel had been a snack to please the taste buds, but meat was a must in Damien's diet, especially since his transition.

Following his instincts, Damien headed straight for the food court. Upon reaching it, he found himself wondering what he should eat. The options weighed on his stomach for a moment. At least until his acute hearing caught the sound of someone else's grumbling in the distance. It caused Damien set his eyes on a woman with short dark hair in scrubs…

Scrubs… definitely someone I should get to know… Yeah, I can play this. Damien took out his phone and used his camera to get a good look at himself. He squinted as he noticed a few speckles of cinnamon sugar from the pretzel on the upper chest area of his charcoal v-neck t-shirt. He dusted it off quickly but failed to get all of it off before slipping his phone back into his jeans and making his way towards the woman who appeared to be dead set on getting food from the Teriyaki Wok at the left end of the food court. He got in line behind her, and took a silent deep breath before speaking.

"Hey um excuse me, do you work at the hospital? I mean, duh of course you do." Damien chuckled nervously, obviously a bit flustered when speaking to the woman. "Let me start over… My name's Damien and I'm new in town. Oh and don't mind these." Damien held the flowers back as if to hide them from the conversation. "I've been job hunting all day in this place and was wondering if there were any positions open at the hospital before I trekked on over. I'm pretty much on my own here, so I'll take anything right now."

"Trust me, it's not so bad." Darius smirked as Myra attempted to put on the cloak. He was glad that she was even making an attempt to put the cloak on. "It won't be for long. And if you think you can handle the cold in the place we're going, you can give it to me." Darius headed towards the door while motioning with his hand for Myra to follow him out of the room.

It didn't take long for the two to reach the beautiful garden, this time there was something out of place at the far reaches of the flower beds.

"Whoa…" Darius let out quietly as he spotted Kol standing cross-armed in front of an amora. It was Darius' first time seeing one, let alone some of Avalia's more advanced technology. Darius was mindful to take the stone path leading through the garden and to where Kol and the amora were."What is that thing?" Darius asked the stone-faced elf.

"This thing is your way to Fort Malthemoor. An amora." Kol answered before walking around to board the aircraft. "The trip won't be long. Ten minutes at most."

Darius couldn't help but examine every bit of the amora as he boarded. This place really clashes when it comes to tech and magic. If something like this exists… It's like a flying bus. Darius took a seat within the Amora, in a different row than Kol, but close enough to him that they could talk if they needed to. Oh and of course he got himself a window seat, who the hell wouldn't?

The smooth takeoff of the Amora was stunning. Darius could tell the aircraft was traveling quickly, but it felt as if they weren't even moving. Almost like a child, his face was nearly glued to the glass window as he took in the scenic snow capped mountains.
