@Jangel13 Congrats man!!!
Nero

@Rai@13org

A sinister laugh echoed from the darkness as a sudden gust extinguished all fires within the tunnel. A heavy chill swept over all as a deep ethereal voice echoed in the minds of all in the tunnel, ”The likes of you? Free ME? From a prison made from the sacrifice of countless children of Seraph? Laughable!” the voice broke into a disturbingly mad fit of laughter, before turning deathly silent. ”You’ve merely interrupted my nap…. And now…. I’m a bit HUNGRY.”
The souls of every living thing in the tunnel were suddenly ripped from their corporeal forms, and dragged into the abyss. Cold, lifeless shapes littered the floor of the cavern, there was only one survivor. "Blech. Soul qualilty really isn't what it used to be... Tastes dreadful.... ohoho. Is one still alive? It would appear as though I've gotten quite weak over the millennia. No matter. I can easily fix that...." the voice muttered as a giant claw reached for the surviving commander from the depths of the abyss.

The commander's eyes beheld the darkness moving for him, illuminated by the flames of the fallen. He gritted his teeth and reached his right hand inside his left coat. "I'm not one to snack on asshole." He leaped backwards, effortlessly flipping several meters back. Not far enough to be out of reach entirely. But enough to evade what the dragon thought was just another mining slave. "My shadow skills are unmatched..." He began to speak as he was midair. His landing was met with an unnatural crater from his legs hitting the stone ground. "The power of my blow knows no equal!" He placed his hands on the ground and a white aura surrounded him briefly, his hair raising. He then vanished in a blur of light.

Chuckling at the defiant display of such an ant, it was time for the dragon to find some REAL food. Souls of the weak were comparable to stale breadcrumbs. He wanted... No he NEEDED more souls; POWERFUL souls. More importantly, he needed to find his precious little investment. Oh how excited he was to check on its growth!

But food came first.

A colossal roar shook the city; issuing a challenge to those who protect it. Bursting forth from beneath the earth, a dragon the size of a small castle, scattering massive shards of earth, splinters of wood, and other kinds of debris all over the streets of Nero. A twisted, flaming grin formed across the monster's face as it eyed the feast laid out before it.

Well shit. Running in a straight line with all of this year on was hard enough. But now he had to run up these increadibly steep stairs? This was gonna suck.  At least there were less present to witness his humiliation this time around.

However, that wasn't going to stop Kael from trying his hardest. Tightening his grip on his sword and shield, the aspiring warrior sprinted up the stairs, driving all his power into each and every step.  The whole way, his pack flopped, jiggled, and shifted as if it had a mind of its own.  His armor only made the labor harder.  Each stair felt like a mountain as Kael fought against his cumbersome armor. By the time he had reached the top, his hips were on fire. With a sigh, he quickly turned and bolted back down the stairs to Ashley, nearly falling twice on the way back.

Thank the gods they were going to test strength next.  That was much more his forte.  "What's next Ashley?" he asked with a tired smile.

Hobgoblin Ren
Quest from the gods/// Evening // Day 5

@Jangel13 @Duthguy@kuroku@Wildman13@demonspade64@ReusableSword@Kheliop@Crusader Lord

Unfazed by the actions of Ren and his comrades, the Troll alpha charged forward with his club raised. The bastard even had the audacity to claim them for his collection! Zats immediately raised his shield to protect Gina. Confident as his brother was in the shield, Ren doubted that the wood could withstand the Troll's strength.

Stepping forward Ren swung his blade, flicking fresh Troll blood into the Alpha's eyes.  At the same moment he did this, barbed webbing shot forward at the Alpha's legs. This was a perfect opportunity.  Sprinting toward the charging foe, Ren sidestepped the alpha,   bringing himself low to the ground.  With all his might and a determined roar, he brought his sword forward as he passed the Troll, aiming to sever it's (hopefully)  bound legs at the knees.  Knowing that his strength likely wasn't enough, Ren used [Gravekeeper's Spirit] to draw as much power as he could from every bone in the vicinity to bolster his attack.

"Well I'm glad to hear I did good so far, but I would imagine this was just the beginning. Kael responded with a chuckle.  Sure enough, the large man that Ashley had been speaking to earlier returned with a set of armor and a few large bags.

”Of course, a proper militaman doesn’t fight empty handed protected with nothing heavier than a cotton shirt. This is your trainie armor! Fits almost like a proper set of armor, though it’s more heavy than protective. Wear this so you know how to get used to wearing armor in the long run. It might not feel like too much of a burden at first when you’re just standing around, but you’ll definitely notice how much harder it is to move when you actually have to run. You’ll also need these.” Ashley said with a grin as she produced a wooden sword and shield from the bags.

Piece by piece, Kael put on the trainee armor. Like Ashley said, it didn't feel super heavy standing still, and didn't actually offer much in terms of protection.  It was better than nothing.  Taking the sword and shield from Ashley, Kael took a ready position, excited to try running in full gear. "Let's do this!" he exclaimed with a wild grin.

On Ashley's mark the half-elf took off, determined to prove his worth. However, several steps into the sprint, Kael realized just how hard carrying so much really was.  Armor impeded his every step, the weight in his pack constantly shifted in an erratic manner, thankfully, the sword and shield weren't too bad.

What he ended up doing didn't look like much of a run... It looked some thing like a increadibly hasty hobble, complete with erratic changes in pace.  By the time he made it back to Ashley, he'd felt thoroughly humiliated.  "So.... uh, how'd I do that time?" he asked with a grimace.

Damn. Though the rock seemed to hit the goblin (albeit not where intended), knocking them down, the resulting lack of panic meant that the shot wasn't lethal. Even worse, Jason could just make out the shadowy shapes of what appeared to be shields headed in his direction.

Not good.

From what he had gathered about goblins so far, shields were not something they would normally know how to create. This could only mean one thing... The traitor reincarnate was in that group, and teaching the goblins new skills.  Jason needed to conceal his position, but the damned 'hat' that started just above his eyes stuck out like a sore thumb. Wait. Did slimes even have eyes?  Since they lack any other normal form of organ, it was highly unlikely... Which meant that slimes could see out of any part of their body! The only reason he had constrained his vision to a single part of his body was because as a human, he was unable to adjust his vision at will!

Using [Soil Manipulation I], Jason dug himself a long foxhole, and broke off two of the spikes he had prepared beforehand.  Flopping silently into the front of his foxhole, Jason laid back on his cape, thus hiding his hat fully.  Scootching forward just enough for the 'bottom' of his body be able to see the goblins, and shoot.

Though he needed to use another mana crystal if he wanted to fire again, Jason didn't want to waste the bit of mana he had left.  Attuning his remaining mana to the psychic element using [Telepathy II], he gathered it all at the tip of his hat, and fired it out like a blast.  Since psychic mana was invisible, it was unlikely that his position would be given away.

Using one of his three mana crystals, Jason checked the distance with  [Tremor Sense II] , before activating [Focus I] on  [Stone Shot II].  Carefully taking aim at the shadow that had crouched down to help the first, Jason fired the second spike. This time he had aimed for the chest, hoping for a lungshot.

Well the garrison was actually quite the lively place!  All around Kael, countless trainees were drilling, sparring, and otherwise honing their skills.... From the looks of it,  most of the people about the garrison were fairly young, or still appeared to be trainees.  Where were all the more experienced militia members? Was there a large fight recently? Regardless, now was probably not the best time...

"Kael! Over here!"

Over on the other side of the garrison, Ashley was waving him down.  Excited to begin, Kael jogged over to the stout dwarf.  As she poked him in the chest, and explained his first task, he grimaced, "Uh, speed isn't really my strong suit... But I guess I'll give it a shot!" he responded with a nervous chuckle.

Dropping into a ready position, Kael ran as fast as he could the moment Ashley said "GO!" As he reached the far end of the training ground, the half-elf swiftly planted his foot and pivoted around, sprinting back the other way until he made it back to Ashley, taking about fifteen seconds total.  "How did I do?" he asked, lightly panting.

@ReusableSword you forgot to use shield!!!

@Lucius Cypher

As Ashley excitedly hurried off to prepare some training, an equally if not more excited Kael rushed through the temple to return the logs.  Suddenly taking notice of someone watching him, the half elf froze and slowly turned his head toward the altar.

Standing near the altar resting for a moment was the biggest dwarf Kael had ever seen. Coal black skin, charred, braided hair, and standing around seven feet tall, he was a monsterous bloke.  Nearly dropping the books, Kael stared at the strange dwarf, his jaw slackened in awe.  Before Kael could inquire  about the hulking smith's identity, the dwarf was approached by one of the priests who whispered something into his ear. The large dwarf then left to go back to his business.

Regaining his bearings, Kael continued over to the priest whom had given him the tomes, "Thank you for your help ser priest... I greatly appreciate it." he said as he placed the logs before the priest with a small curteous bow.

Making haste out of the temple, Kael broke into a run, nearly colliding with several people on his way to the garrison.  He was definitely gonna ask Ashley about that giant of a dwarf.

Jason could feel himself becoming more familiar with the manipulation of this psionic type of energy. However, he soon began to experience fatigue both mentally and physically. Even after practicing long enough to use up one (1) of his Mana Crystals due to MP drain, he hadn't yet gained the skill.

The lack of forward progress peeved Jason, perhaps it was time to move on to some thing else. Then, almost as if right on cue, Ardur's voice rang out over the bonfire crew; "Heads up guys! They're coming in through the entrance...but they're moving slow for some reason, like they're being really careful! I can't tell how many there are."

"Ardur! Excellent timing! Come down here, I have a job for you!" the slime called to the pixie. Once Ardur was close enough, Jason would reach out with a pseudopod and activate [Telepathy II], 'Ok Ardur, here's the plan. This lizard lung is a bomb.' he began, gesturing to the gristly tainted bomb he had created, 'The bomb is made of two components; a flame-touched mana crystal, and a potent poison-tainted mana crystal. I need you to take this bomb, and drop it on either Crispy, or Rattleskull. Out of the two, it would be more powerful against Crispy, since it would deplete his mana-- but I'll leave that decision to your discretion... Now, before you go to transport the bomb, there are two things you need to take into consideration. Firstly, that poison-tainted crystal is unstable, so you're going to need to cast a shield spell on it to keep it from breaking mid-flight. Second, when you go to deliver the payload, it is important that you channel a bit of mana into the flame-touched crystal. This will prime it, so don't put too much mana into it, and get rid of it quickly once it's armed! I leave the rest to you. Good luck.' Snatching three more mana crystals out of the stash, Jason swung his stony growth on the rock spire he had used to kill the lizard earlier, breaking off a two inch spike. Sucking up the spike, he called out to his comrades, "Ok Everyone! It's go time! Make sure you're ready, and in position! I'm going to see if I can thin their numbers a bit before they reach us..."

Forming the non-conical part of his body into the best sphere he could, Jason stealthily rolled over to a spot where he could see the goblins, but they couldn't see him (H7). Next to him, he cast [Rock Spire I], but only gave it enough mana to create a two inch spike. Jason continued summoning these two inch spikes (all organised in a row) until he ran out of mana. Taking a deep breath, he consumed a mana crystal, it was time to play sniper...

On the battlefield, a sniper was a terrifying weapon. They were avatars order and chaos combined. Such skilled warriors had both an ability to control the field of battle, as well as sow terror amongst their enemies. Nothing was possibly more demoralizing than seeing the head of the man beside you burst open, but to have it done by an enemy beyond both sight, and reach? It was enough to break a man.

In the darkness, the torchlight allowed Jason to just barely able to make out the vague shapes of goblins; they seemed to be fighting something, but that was of no concern. Using [Tremor Sense II] to more accurately target the nearest goblin, Jason then used [Focus I] on [Stone Shot II]. As the skill charged, the slime carefully aimed his shot, estimating the locations the goblin's vitals.

Finally, the sniper let the magically charged spike fly, directly at the jugular of the closest goblin (in column 7)...
