Finished the Vaxir race and put the CS in the characters' section. They're a very blunt reptilian-like species with a cultural focus on respecting elders. If anyone would like to play as one then I would love to help with the character creation.
Lunar Maximum Security Incarceration Facility sat in its usual position on the barren moon of a gas giant in a forgettable solar system. It was a large facility, though there was very little traffic to and from it outside of prisoner transportation and the like. Even if a prisoner managed to escape their cell they had nowhere to go. It was the perfect place to house some of the most wanted criminals in the galaxy.
The hallways were quiet, the only sounds in them were footsteps of guards moving up and down them as they were tasked with retrieving several prisoners from their cells. Four of them moved down the wing which held some of the most notorious inmates. There they finally found who they were looking for, Callum Bowman, the gang lord that formed the feared Black Stars. He was now just another prisoner, there for almost six Earth years. For the most part he had kept to himself since his incarceration, he caused no problems and rarely spoke to anyone. Yet that didn't mean he was treated any better by those that imprisoned him in the lunar prison. He stood up from his seated position on the bed in his barren cell. It was identical to every other one, a bed, toilet, desk, chair and a sink. All of the furniture was nailed to the floor of course, so none of it could be used as weapons.
"Bowman? They really want this monster?" One of the guards asked, a human male, his head shaven, light stubble on his face. He wore the same uniform as all the others which was more akin to a soldier's armor than anything else. On his belt he had a stun baton, which one of his fellow guards had his hand near as the quartet stood in front of Callum's cell. They looked at him like a caged animal, as Callum stared back from behind the forcefield between them. He wore an identical orange jumpsuit to every other prisoner, his number on the back of it.
"Yep, orders from up top, they want him. Other inmates too, but the other guards have that handled. We just gotta get him and escort himm" One of the other guards confirmed as he clenched a holopad in one of his hands. "Come along nicely now, 2817. Keep your hands where they are and no sudden movements."
Then the forcefield went down on Callum's cell as two of the guards approached him, he offered no resistance as one of them grabbed his hands then handcuffed them tightly. Then with a gentle nudge he walked out of his cell, all four of the guards behind him. He walked past many of the other inmates' cells, several of them watched as he was escorted away. Some spoke out, though their words were stopped by glares from the guards following Callum.
The pirate king briefly wondered if the other prisoners figured he was on his walk of death, that when he finished his escort they'd inject him with all types of chemicals and end his life. That wasn't what was going on here, he would have been told ahead of time. He was their pet prisoner anyway, having him in their fancy lunar prison meant they could capture any criminal. He was no use to them dead, they could parade around the fact that they had successfully caught one of the most wanted men in the galaxy. Still he wondered what exactly this was. One of the guards peeped up as a message was sent to him through the communicator in his ear.
"We have to take a slight detour, they want us to clean him up. Make him look presentable." The guard said to the others, and Callum. His hair had grown long, an unkempt beard on his face. He stopped caring about that, he wondered if it annoyed his captors. A slight act of rebellion that nearly brought a smile to his face. He was turned down another hallway and into a room, there he was stuck on a chair as another man approached him with an electric razor. Callum was silent as he was shaven clean, then his hair trimmed to a short, neat affair. Bundles of brown hair rested on the floor before they were swept away, and he was lead out of the room by the guards.
"We're almost there." One of the guards said as the escort continued, they'd moved him through various hallways that all looked the same to the prisoner. They finally paused in front of another doorway, two guards standing on each side of it. After a brief chat between all of the guards, Callum was handed over to these two. From there he was nudged into the room. Inside was a long table, chairs were placed all around it, at the opposite end of the table sat three men. More guards were around the table, three on each side against the walls, each of them clenched shotguns. Guards in the prison didn't normally carry firearms, it tended to put the prisoners on edge. For whatever this meeting was, they didn't seem to care about that.
He recognized one of the men at the end of the table as the prison warden, Hardying? That was his name. He was a mean looking man, had an unsettling look about him. He'd heard stories about how the warden routinely beat prisoners to a pulp that went out of line for even the smallest offenses. He did not know either of two next to him, both wore business suits and stared at Callum as he was stuck into a chair at the side of the table opposite to the trio.
"Ah, 2817 is here. Now we wait for the others, they should be here shortly." Warden Hardying said with a smile. Callum didn't acknowledge the man with even a glance, he just looked at the floor. Underneath the table one of his fists clenched.
Scars, Birthmarks, or other Identifying Traits: One scar on his left eyebrow, another on his right cheek. Callum has multiple tattoos, the most notable one is on the front of his neck, another is the Black Star's insignia on his right pectoral. On the top of his right arm is another tattoo and his left arm has a sleeve tattoo.
Description of Clothing/Armor: While on mission Callum wears a caped set of armor, it is the same one that he was arrested. Interestingly it used to bear the insignia of his gang, but the feds burned that off of the armor. The armor offers standard protection with solid shields, it has a grappling hook launcher on the right wrist. The helmet offers infrared and night vision.
While in casual settings he tends to wear a white t shirt with a leather jacket over it, black slacks and grey boots.
Raptor II Assault Rifle - A reliable and accurate rifle found through the galaxy, its commonly used by mercenaries and raiders. Uses a 30 round magazine, mounted with a 4x scope.
Combat knife - Last ditch weapon, stored in a sheath on the back of his left boot.
Charges/Sentences: Callum Bowman has a long list of offenses that he has been convicted for. The most numerous are piracy, drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal weapons trafficking and murders of law enforcement agents. He was sentenced alongside several of his criminal associates. He attempted to claim full responsibility in an effort to free his associates of wrongdoing, the effort was not accepted. One of his former associates also turned state's evidence against Callum and helped to pin many offenses on the space pirate kingpin, in exchange for a lesser sentence themselves.
Callum's laundry list of offenses was enough to sentence him to multiple consecutive life sentences. His capture and subsequent incarceration made top news on several worlds throughout the galaxy. He is currently serving time for his crimes in the Lunar Maximum Security Incarceration Facility (LMSIF). Callum has been there for nearly six Earth years.
Skills:
Callum is a charismatic man able to win over people, his success in assembling a notorious gang is a testament to this ability. He knows how to manipulate emotions and is a gifted liar.
He has been in many firefights throughout his life and is a skilled shot with firearms.
He's a solid hand to hand combatant, nothing spectacular though.
Callum always plans ahead, everything he does he always thinks of the most efficient way to do it.
Flaws:
His reputation as a terrible man is widely known, while he personally doesn't think he's a bad person, nearly everyone else whose heard of him does.
Callum has a temper, when he gets really angry he tends to destroy things and punch holes in walls.
He has an intense dislike for authority figures, police, federal agents, it doesn't really matter. He hates them all. He also can't stand being told what to do.
Before his incarceration he had an addiction to 'Stardust', an illegal drug which causes feelings of intense euphoria and hallucinations. In heavy dosages it is lethal. If he encounters the substance while on mission he may become re-addicted.
Callum tends to use people, blackmail is a favored tactic of his.
Personality: Before his imprisonment Callum was a proud, highly respected man within his notorious gang. He was on top of the world and the head honcho, everyone listened to him and practically worshiped his footsteps. He subscribed to a carefree philosophy, everyone is going to die one day, might as well have as much fun as you can until then. As the 'king' of the Black Stars he held frequent parties, a testament to his power. He indulged in life's sins, drugs, alcohol and fast women. Callum had no qualms with getting his hands dirty, he'd do whatever it took to get him and his gang ahead.
Since his incarceration his personality has mellowed, he's much quieter, so much time spent dwelling in his own thoughts has changed him. While he does not really regret anything he did, he often thinks about his life before he was stuck in prison. A large part of him desires to see what happened to his old gang.
Personal Biography: Callum Bowman was born on the backwater human colony of Athena. He lived on the outskirts of the massive capitol city on the terraformed world, his family poor and broken. His father was a severe alcoholic that never seemed to have a stable job, his mother had a drug addiction and worked a low wage factory job. Callum wasn't the best student and often skipped school. When he was actually there he frequently got into trouble for a variety of offenses, most often fighting.
After barely graduating high-school Callum alongside his childhood friend, Matt, took a job offworld working for a merchant. They served as bodyguards for the man, the merchant gave them a cut of the dealings and Callum got to see the galaxy. Then while traveling they encountered pirates, they were forced to surrender to the men. After negotiations Matt became interested in the space pirate lifestyle and put a bullet in the merchant's skull. Callum was shocked by the act, he and his friend along with the cargo were taken onto the pirate vessel. Both of them were turned into members of the crew, his life of infamy begin from that point on. Though he didn't expect to end up as a space pirate, it was a great way to make money.
The ship Callum ended up on was part of a larger group of pirates, they all traversed the galaxy looting anything of value. For a few years he spent time with the group, there was no real organization which ticked off. He made a plan then and there, he was going to end up as the top dog in the pirate gang. He had already climbed up the ranks, earning the respect of many. So one day while on a looting run he put a bullet into the only man higher up than and assumed control of the crew. Once they returned to the larger group he put himself in charge, those that opposed him were shut down by the larger amount that fully supported Callum who had instilled dreams of more cash, women and power in their hearts. Any dissenters were killed, the rest fell in line and he became the 'king' of a small group of space pirates. He instituted real order and real ranks to the pirate gang.
It was a start.
From that point on he formed the Black Stars, he also extended the usefulness of those loyal to him, they didn't just pirate ships around the galaxy. He got them into the mercenary business, then into trafficking of all types. Drugs, weapons, people, it didn't matter as long as it made money, and it did. He was aggressive in absorbing other gangs into the Black Stars. He'd align himself with them and get them on his side, then he'd kill the leaders and take control, any that opposed were harshly executed. As time grew, less and less opposed him whenever he took over gangs. All of this success further grew his gang, they were making a name for themselves, and Callum was on top of it all. His friend Matt was his second in command the entire time, the two poor kids had made something into themselves.
As the Stars grew so did their infamy, they became the target of enforcement across the galaxy, clashes between the two groups were frequent. Callum avoided capture for years, which only grew his legend. There was even a rumor that he had actually been captured, but then escaped the prison by killing every guard himself. That didn't actually happen, but with how powerful he was it seemed believable. He made more money as the years passed, the parties he threw growing more bold and crazy each time. He also developed an addiction to Stardust, which nearly costed him his life as an overdose.
Then it all came crashing down, while making a deal in person on a barren desert world his gang and him were ambushed by law enforcement agents. A massive firefight ensued, it seemed like once again that Callum would evade capture. But he did not, a sniper bullet to the knee put him down on the ground, then he was handcuffed along with the surviving members of the Stars that came with him. That night news across many worlds headlined with the capture of the notorious space pirate king Callum Bowman. His trial quick, he had no hope of freedom and was sentenced to multiple life sentences. This sentencing was only lengthened in part by Matt turning state's evidence, Callum's best friend in exchange for his own lesser sentence had dammed Callum. He was incarcerated in the Lunar Maximum Security Incarceration Facility, the most notorious prison in the galaxy, containing only the worst of the worst.
He's been there for almost six Earth years.
Personal Belongings: Two Cuban cigars, a lighter and a metal flask bearing the Black Star's insignia.

Vaxir
A typical Vaxir.
Home Planet: Vaxtralara I
Brief Summary of their Home Planet: Vaxtralara I is a small world, it is roughly 1.2 times as large as Earth. It has a thin nitrogen/oxygen atmosphere. Rocky mountainous deserts cover 60% of the planet's landmass. The only large body of water is an ocean which covers 20% of the world. The Vaxir have built massive cities across the world, many of them border the ocean. The capitol city, Astarte is home to hundreds of millions of Vaxir. It is considered a crown jewel of Vaxir's empire, a center for trade, entertainment and culture.
The planet is plentiful with indigenous lifeforms, all of which have evolved to adapt to the world's harsh conditions. One of the most famous is the Kauihz a massive hairless mammal comparable to Rhinoceroses of Earth. It feeds on plant life across the deserts, the temper of the creatures is well known. The Vaxir domesticated many of them and use them as farm animals. Wild herds roam the planet surface. Another notable creature is the Zeqa Chelf, a large predatory mammal which is the apex predator on the deserts of the world. They can reach up to twenty five feet in length and have the ability to camouflage with their surroundings like a chameleon. They are fearless, solitary hunters that will attack Vaxir and any other humanoids. At nights on the world, the nocturnal Vuvad emerge from the caves of the planet. Though small in stature, they are vicious pack creature which use numbers to bring down far larger animals. It is not recommended to travel the wildernesses of Vaxtralara I as many of the lifeforms are extremely hostile. Wildlife tours are available.
Empires This Race Belongs To: The Vaxir are the only species in their own Empire.
Member of the Galactic Federation?: Yes, they were one of the first in the Federation.
Number of Colonies: 26
General Appearance: Vaxir are tall, bony humanoids most comparable to reptilians of Earth. They are warm blooded and give live birth to multiple offspring at once, usually 3 - 5 per birth. Their skin is scaly and thick, resistant to cuts and bruises as well as heat. Coming from a world covered with deserts, the Vaxir are most comfortable in hot, dry areas. They have two eyes, all shades of black or grey. Interestingly, Vaxir are naturally colorblind though it is common for them to install modern augmentations to fix this. Their skin tone ranges from lighter shades of grey to browns and darker greens. They are carnivorous and have two rows of sharp teeth in their mouths.
They have male and female genders though the two are not easily distinguishable. Females do not have breasts, their voices are higher and their hips wider. The Vaxir have four fingers on each of their two hands, talons on the end of the fingers, they have two legs and no tail. They are taller than the average human, the medium height for both genders being six feet. The tallest Vaxir exceed eight feet in height though this is uncommon.
Average Life Span: Vaxir live slightly longer than humans, the oldest live to 150 Earth years. The average age of death is 90 years.
Galactic Rarity: They are one of the most common species in the galaxy.
Primary Governmental Structure: The Vaxir have a gerontocracy in place for government. The oldest Vaxir are their leaders, respect for elders is a core concept in their society as the elders literally run the race. Each Vaxir world has an odd numbered council of Elders, often the oldest on the worlds. These councils vote on matters important to the species. Elder Vaxir are able to turn down government positions, and this is respected, but it is expected for the elders to take up important positions for the good of the species.
Brief Description of Culture: As stated earlier, respect of elders is a core concept for the Vaxir. As they age the Vaxir do not develop any elder related diseases or issues, they are as sharp and intelligent as ever at even far advanced ages. Family is important in the Vaxir, families of all ages except for the middle ages are expected to live together. It is not uncommon for Vaxir families to have massive homes containing dozens of family members. Those in the median stage of their lives are expected to travel and further their own lives.
Special Traits/Racial Abilities:
Vaxir have thick scaly skin that is resistant to weaker bruises, cuts and burns.
They can survive without fresh water for up to twelve Earth days.
Vaxir are naturally gifted climbers, legends tell of members of their species scaling the massive mountains that dot their home-world.
They have sharp talons and teeth, as a last ditch defense these can be effective.
All of them are naturally colorblind. In place of many colors they see greys.
Race Age: 500,000 years.
Brief History of the Race: Vaxir ascended from their home-world centuries before humanity did on their own world. They are one of the most populous races in the galactic community. They are at the forefront of the galactic community in many matters and are one of most advanced in the Federation.
Major Technological Innovations/Inventions: One of the most notable technologies the Vaxir have developed is a type of active camouflage, similar to what the Zeqa Chelf of their home-world use to help hunt for prey. This camouflage is commonly used in the Vaxir government and is a secret to how it was exactly created.
Expanded Cultural Overview: Religion is common in the Vaxir, they worship multiple gods and goddesses, some of them are Ikesie, goddess of the hunt, Kahx, god of warfare and Aglae, goddess of music. Freedom of religion is practiced by the Vaxir and atheism is a common occurrence in the species. The Zeqa Chelf is seen as holy creature within the Vaxir religion, killing of the animals is forbidden unless it has slayed multiple Vaxir unprovoked.
They have elaborate birth and death rituals, when a Vaxir dies their bodies are cremated then used as spice for a Kauihz steak which is eaten by the dead one's blood relatives. This ceremony is followed by a 60 hour fast (3 Vaxtralara I days). When Vaxir are born, it is a joyous occasion, depending on how many children are born at one time, that is how many days the Vaxir will celebrate. During this celebration they will heavily eat and drink and not sleep.
Vaxir society is highly based on age, the youngest Vaxir are mentored by elder Vaxir. Disrespect of Vaxir elders is a societal offense, sometimes punished by ceremonial burning in which a line of lava from the homeworld's volcanoes is etched across the skin. It leaves a scar which lasts for months. Self sacrifice is expected within Vaxir society, while they do not have a standing military, all able bodied members, female and male are expected to serve if the military is needed. Dying for the good of the species is a deed most Vaxir will willingly do.
Vaxir are very blunt and honest with each other and other species. Honesty is a cornerstone of their species, apparent rudeness from a Vaxir to a human may not be intended rudeness, but rather them just speaking very bluntly.
Criminals in the Vaxir are not allowed on the worlds of their species, part of their punishment is that they are imprisoned away from the rest of their species. Since there is so much emphasis on family within Vaxir culture, this is seen as almost as bad a punishment as the actual imprisonment.
Vaxir naming conventions feature three names. The first is a given name, most often meaningful words in their language though naming after other family members, gods/goddesses and legendary heroes is also common. The second part of their name is the mother's family name and third part is the father's family name. Vaxir marry for life, each one takes one partner which is their only romantic partner. Arranged marriages between families is common, a larger family is considered to be the best to have.
Expanded History: The Vaxir's long history began on their home-world of Vaxtralara I, early Vaxir society was governed by tribes. Warring and merges between tribes on the planet's surface was a very common thing. The Vaxir gradually became masters of their environment, they domesticated the great Kauihz, using them as farm animals and weapons of war. Legends often portray great Vaxir warriors riding into battle on the back of armored Kauihz. Before the invention of ballistic based weaponry, Vaxir often fell victim to their environment. The planet is covered in dangerous lifeforms, for centuries these creatures hunted the Vaxir.
One of the most important events in the history of the Vaxir is when the tribes on the home-world merge. The great chieftain, Wymorqiht, leader of one of the largest tribes merged all of the others with his own. This allowed a great exchange of ideas and furthered the development of the species. Part of what came out of this was the development of technology to help the Vaxir conquer their harsh planet, gun-like weaponry that could bring down the terrifying predators which roamed the dunes of the world. For decades this merging was realized, then disagreements came followed by war.
The Vaxir killed thousands of each other as the species splintered, it seemed like the species would wipe themselves out but they didn't. Peace was brokered and strict cultural rules on warfare were enacted. The Vaxir continued their development as a species, hundreds of years before humanity left its own world, the Vaxir had developed space age technology. They landed on other worlds in their galaxy and colonized them. They were one of the first in the Galactic Federation, other races went extinct for other reasons as the Vaxir only grew stronger.
They were the first species to interact with humanity, while they initially feared this strange mammal race would try to take over their species, this did not happen and peace was struck. The Vaxir have traded with humanity, and watched as that species further colonized the galaxy.
You're a criminal, a convicted one at that, you did something terrible enough that you were put in an intergalactic prison on a moon. See, space opened to humanity many years ago, we actually got our shit together and left our little home-world, first came Mars, next came some moons, then we went outside of our own star system, FTL is a thing of immense wonder. Amazingly enough, we encountered intelligent life, aliens, E.T.s, but they weren't little green men, they were friendly, if they weren't then we would've been turned to space dust, no doubt about it.
From that first meeting we encountered others, humanity didn't try to blow up any of them either, turns out when we put our whole race in the social aspects of life, we actually succeed. Of course there was the military aspect, no wars though, more like sharing of military secrets, trades between our race and others. There have been skirmishes, but those involve slavers and raiders, the real filth of the galaxy. The stuff of science fiction became reality, massive space ships which could carry thousands, energy weapons, even power armor and jetpacks.
But let's get back to you, you're a convicted criminal, you'd be on death row, ready to be executed but you have a set of skills which can be put forward for a greater good. The result of the collective brainpower of different species brainstorming an expendable, but skilled force that could fight on the front lines, sneak through the stars or even drop onto a planet. If you try to go AWOL and avoid your new role, well the chip in your brain goes off and your head literally explodes.
Wanna guess who was the first species to come up with such a thing? Yeah, humanity.
Why would you decline such an offer? I mean, what are you going to do? Rot in a cell for the rest of your pathetic life or sit in a chair and get executed?
Timeline
2033 - The first human, John R. Jackson, walks on Mars after a long journey to the red planet. The American flag is planted on the world and global interest in space is renewed. Scholars call it quite possibly the greatest event in human history. A statue of Jackson is later built where he took the first steps. 2036 - The most advanced robotics technology to date is unveiled. Humanoid service robots able to do a wide range of tasks are planned to be sold to the public within the next decade. 2037 - Human-like artificial intelligence becomes a reality. For the first time a computer passes the Turing Test. While the computer's answers are somewhat childlike, they are humanline nonetheless. 2038 - Near-Earth asteroids are minded for the first time. This practice is expanded to asteroids in the belts of Jupiter and Mars. Valuable materials as well as frozen ice water are extracted from asteroids. 2040 - The Very Large Hadron Collider is fully operational, it revolutionizes physics and what humanity knows about the makeup of the universe. 2041 - Robots have entered mainstream society, their most common usage is as companions and aides for the elderly, widowed and disabled. They are also put to use in a wide range of workplaces. 2044 - The first androids are created, a step up from the robots which are employed around the world as simple service machines designed to help humans across the globe. Androids look, feel and think like a human. Many in the public outcry at the creation of them. The creators of them simply state they are to be provided as companions to the lonely and heartbroken. 2052 - The first humans colonise Mars, a group of eight international scientists are sent there after years of preparation. Many predict disaster would occur, but it does not. A five year date is set for them to return the red world. 2057 - The Mars scientists return, all of them alive and well with loads of new data. This is another notch in humanity’s fascination with space travel. 2059 - The Mars colony is formally established. New technology allows the colonists to live there permanently. Years go by and the colony grows. 2066 - Prototype terraformation technology is unveiled, it is put to use on Mars. This is considered another incredible advancement in space technology as we learn about space outside our solar system. 2100 - The moon and Mars’ colonies both report positive progress, travel between both of places and Earth is easier than ever before. Colonies have been established on Io, Callisto and Titan. Artificial intelligence has surpassed human intelligence and helped further humanity’s technological development. Huge mining operations take place in asteroid belts, space tourism is a booming industry. 2105 - Androids have entered mainstream society, humanlike in almost every way questions are raised about their status as machines and not sentient lifeforms. Most notably they are employed in law enforcement and as romantic companions 2120 - The Titan Riots occur, hundreds die in the conflict as pro-android activists sabotage robotics factories across the world. The creation of androids is banned, any found are shut down and dismantled. 2135 - Prototype FTL technology is developed and put under heavy testing. 2162 - The most advanced and streamlined spaceships are created with the ultimate goal of traveling outside of our solar system. Space travel is an incredibly successful business. 2175 - The S.S. Eden becomes the first human piloted spaceship to travel out of the solar system and to another. The day is celebrated across humanity as the greatest event in human history. It safely returns to Earth weeks later. 2183 - More ships are commissioned and exit humanity's home system (Sol system). The first human colony outside of the Sol system is founded, the name, "Alpha Genesis". Scientists are the first one on the world. It is a small, barren planet that can easily be terraformed into a liveable colony world. 2196 - A second colony outside of the Sol system is established, named "Terra Eden", a medium sized moon. It is terraformed so it is livable. Earth's nations unite to form the E.S.C. (Earth Systems Confederation). 2197 - Alien life is discovered on Terra Eden, deep inside a cave. A small insect which originated on the planet. Humans finally confirm that they are not alone in the universe. 2209 - Humans travel to another system and colonize two more planets. 2212 - Humanity encounters its first sentient alien species, the humanoid Vaxir, a race even more advanced than humanity. Peace is struck between the races, and humanity is introduced to the Galactic Federation. 2213 - Pro-human terrorists from the radical group Homines Primum kidnap several Vaxir and execute them, this deals a blow to human-Vaxir relations. Bounties are put out on Homines Primum members. 2216 - A bomb goes off on a human colony in protest of humanity’s relations with the Vaxir. 125 people are killed. Homines Primum is responsible for it. 2220 - By this year several high ranking members of Homines Primum have been killed or captured, the human supremacist group has gone mostly quiet. 2247 - The notorious space pirate Callum Bowman is captured and sentenced to multiple life sentences. He is placed in Lunar Maximum Security Incarceration Facility (LMSIF). 2253 - Current year. Several notorious inmates in the LMSIF are drafted to form a mission squad which will be for the greater good.
Technology
Hyperdrive technology is the method which humans and other species use to travel through the stars. A carefully plotted course must be taken in order to avoid the ship coming out of the jump into a collision course with another ship, a black hole or even in the middle of battle. Many hyperspace routes have already been established. When a jump is initiated, the ship enters hyperspace, then will emerge at its destination after a period of time depending on the distance traveled and the level of the hyperdrive. Time is different within hyperspace, what seems like an hour in there could be days in real space.
Weaponry - Weapons advanced with everything else as technology progressed. There are different types of weapons which are commonplace in the galaxy. Explosives, such as grenades, rocket launchers and landmines are also popular. You will still find people carrying melee weapons such as pocket knives and heated energy swords. The types of projectile weapons are as follow, they descend in commonality in the galaxy:
The humans made these popular, bullets haven't changed that much over the ages, just the more powerful ones that can pierce armor and damage shields are preferred. The other alien species began using these type of firearms as they are cheaper, despite being considered more "crude" by some.
These are the weapons you will see on all ships and it is for a good reason, they are very powerful. While personal laser weapons are uncommon, they can be found if you look in the right places.
Painful is one word for this type, the rarest of them all, but very effective at causing your enemy painful wounds and death, plasma weapons literally burn through armor, shields, walls, skin and bones. They aren't very commonplace, nor that accurate, but if you hit the target it will hurt them. They have been banned on many worlds.
Standard armor - Personal armor is common among those traveling through the stars, it is standard issue for military personnel and a must for anybody who has a job that requires them to get shot at. Personal armors come in either the light or standard classes, the design and patterns depending on the wearer, but they are all universally made of high strength metal alloys.
Power armor - A whole different type of armor, power armor is much less common than the standard armors, but still can be seen worn by some soldiers, mercenaries and bounty hunters. It was a revelation for warfare when it was perfected, changing the way battles were fought. Not any soldier can wear power armor, it has to be custom fit to its wearer and is so heavy that it require micro motors powered by an engine in order for the wearer to move, but the protection it offers is top of the line. Non combat varieties are frequently used in manual labor jobs such as mining or construction.
Energy shields - Energy shields are commonplace among soldiers and are included with most armors. These types of shields help protect the wearer from explosions, bullets, various energy blasts and some environmental hazards such as falls. Energy shields do not last forever, if they take enough punishment they will temporarily fail, exposing the wearer to more damage. Energy shields will only recharge when the wearer is not taking any damage.
Prosthetic and Cybernetic Augmentations - Mechanical augmentation is commonplace in today's society, it has opened up a new era for society, possibilities never imagined before have been achieved. Amputees have limbs, paraplegics can walk, life has been made normal for these people thanks to modern science. Modern prosthetics link right into the body and are nearly indistinguishable in appearance to a natural limb. Artificial organs are also in wide usage throughout the galaxy, they are also indistinguishable from natural organs. Everything from an artificial heart, lungs and even parts of the brain are common sight. Once placed into the body they seamlessly link into the neural network.
Advanced cybernetic augmentation is also possible, while frowned upon and even outlawed by some it is still possible to acquire in parts of the galaxy. One could have their natural eyes replaced with an advanced mechanical version that allow night vision, or have a microchip wired into their brain which wires a computer into their mind. The Federation does not ban these type of enhancements, but several worlds within it do.
Robotics - Advanced forms of robotics were created before humanity left its own solar system. Since then the practice has been harshly regulated. Humanoid service robots are a common sight throughout the galaxy, their programming is basic and they are used for labor in many major industries. Androids are strictly banned on humanity’s worlds, these machines are designed to appear completely human, freely think and have emotions. This law was put in place after the Titan Riots of 2120 when activists attempted to sabotage multiple factories and ‘free’ androids. Hundreds were killed in the riots.
Artificial Intelligence - Commonplace on larger ships throughout the galaxy, artificial intelligence helped revolutionize space travel. Free thinking A.I. follow their programming like robots, though they bring a human element, able to improve and adapt to any situation. Artificial intelligence is strictly regulated, A.I.s are monitored heavily to ensure they do not develop personalities or exceed their programming.
Terraformation - The terraforming of worlds is commonplace throughout the galaxy, humanity used the technology on several worlds. Mars was the first one, through terraformation it was turned into a much more suitable planet for the human race. Some protesters have claimed that terraforming is morally wrong as it changes what was nature’s intent, but the counterpoint to this is that only barren worlds are terraformed.
The Ship
The I.S.S. Gladius is an advanced warship manufactured by the human race, it is 130 meters in length. The Gladius has been repainted to a neutral grey, all of its features are up to date. The name is fitting for the criminal crew, the gladius was a sword used by the Roman military. The Gladius has the standard armament of two forward facing laser cannons, one missile launcher and a swivel laser turret. It’s a mobile craft that can easily land on planets and also has a full fledged warpdrive. While not designed for a full out space battle the ship can hold its own. Its real talent lies in its speed and stealth capabilities, it can get away from larger vessels with ease.
There are three levels on the Gladius, on the first level is the bridge, medical bay, a (nearly empty) armory, escape pods, a training room and a firing range. The second level consists of the crew quarters, captain’s cabin, restrooms, showers, bar room, lounge and the cafeteria. On the third level is the hangar with a shuttle and the engineering decks.
Factions:
The Federation - Comparable to the United Nations on Earth, the Federation was created before humanity entered the galaxy. Its goal is to promote peace, cooperation and trade throughout the galaxy. There is no single leader of the Federation, each of the member species elects a head who speaks out for their race on a council. The Federation’s headquarters is located in neutral space, a security force patrols the area and the station itself.
Species in the galaxy are not forced to join the Federation, but it is highly encouraged. Races that do not elect to join do not receive any of the benefits that come with membership such as protection pacts. The Federation has been criticised by many for multiple reasons, the most common are how they ban certain practices such as slavery but only enforce within their borders.
Homines Primum - A human supremacist group active in the galaxy, Homines Primum or ‘Humans First” has been responsible for acts of terrorism against non-humans. Bombings, public executions and taking of hostages are common tactics used by this despicable group. They are anti-Federation and anti-alien in general. Several bounties have been posted for their top members. Activity in the group has dropped in recent years, but they are still as hated as ever.
The Black Stars - One of the largest and most notorious criminal gangs in the galaxy, the Stars as they're commonly referred to have wide reach of criminal activities. They have a hand in the mercenary business and traffick all sorts of illegal materials through the galaxy. They have in the past raided worlds and taken hostages, then forced these captives into slavery. Many of their members reside in prisons across the galaxy, their leader Callum Bowman one of them. Since his capture they have gone quieter than before, infighting hitting the faction hard.
Maximum Octane - Notorious group of slavers and raiders. Also have caused terrorist actions, most notably the Sigma Station bombing which killed thousands. The faction fell into infighting and has since officially disbanded after a full scale raid by Federal authorities on their base of operations.
The Golden Arrows - A former criminal gang that were once rivals of the Black Stars. They were thoroughly defeated and assimilated by the Stars.
The Crimson Mercs - A group that were wholly opposed to the Black Stars. The members of the gang were all on the bad side of the Stars. They systematically hunted down members of the Black Stars until a shootout killed its members and left its leader for capture by Federal authorities.
The Shepherds’ Guild - A highly skilled guild of smugglers, new leadership lead them into human trafficking. Some refused to accept this change and they were fired or killed. Their membership and prestige has dropped since then.
You can also create your own factions. Detail them in your character's bio, then I'll add them here.
Rules:
1. Follow the Guild's rules. 2. The usual, no godmodding, metagaming, Mary Sues, Gary Stus, you've heard all this before. 3. Original characters and races only. 4. No fighting in the OOC. Any problems must be brought up to me where I will end them. 4. Gore, swearing and violence are going to be in this RP. Keep the romance PG-13, fade to black any 'mature' scenes. 6. This is an advanced level roleplay. No one liners and try to have at least two solid paragraph per IC post. More is always great. 7. Roleplay in third person. 8. Don’t be afraid to do collabs with your fellow players, it’s always a great way to flesh out your characters, also helps keep the IC from getting clunked up with drawn out conversations. 9. Please don’t just disappear without a word. If you're going to be away then please notify me. One week without a word from you and you're removed from the RP. 10. Character death can occur. The missions our characters will go are considered suicide missions for a reason. 11. Don’t control named NPCs, I’ll handle that. 12. My word is law, so is my co-GM's @Firecracker_. 13. Have fun, this rule is non-negotiable. Feel free to message me with any questions, concerns or even suggestions to improve the RP.
TitanPads
- Free to use for the players for collabs. Please post on the OOC if you are using one of the pads.
- A chatroom for any of the members of the RP to relax in. Feel free to ask questions, pitch ideas or anything else in the room.
Currently accepting two to three new people as well as second characters for players that have already joined!

Sterlan Arryn reminds me a lot of Garland Tyrell. A hell of a lot. I mean, it's nothing to do with the fact that they're young, brown-eyed, brown-haired Lord Paramounts :P
On a more interesting note, I'd be genuinely interested to marry off Alerie to him, well IC, Garland would be interested, in exchange for say, a Small Council Postion. If he needs to be wed, and if you're up for the idea, you could make it to a Southron lady who's got some very beautiful charm indeed....and laughably, would look at Sterlan a lot, an awful lot like she does at Garland right now :P I do want to throw my characters into different courts, and given that so far, Alerie/Garland have been a binary, it allows me to start playing them all out everywhere, which would be a real laugh. So far with House Tyrell:
