She was running. That's all she knew in that moment. One moment, she was having a nice relaxing bath, the next she was running through the woods butt naked, wondering how the hell she got there. Had she been drugged? Was the rest of her family okay? Where was she running to? She stopped after a few minutes of running, her mind racing with what to do. She hadn't seen a single damn building out here. Her next thought went to who would do this? Why would they do this? And where the hell were they now.
She continued walking, her feet cut by the forest floor and raw by now. Every step was painful, every step was starting to feel like her last. She wasn't built for this, for survival out in the woods with nothing but her birthday suit to protect her. She was going to die out here. As the thought hit her, she stopped, dead in her tracks and plopped down onto her knees to cry, sobbing after a moment.
Her tears pulled the attention of a man, just within earshot, who.. at first thought she might be some ghost. But against his better nature, walked closer to investigate. He hadn't planned on veering off course today, his mother would have surely punished him but he couldn't help his curiosity. It wasn't every day that the prince of his fair kingdom got the chance to explore out on his own like this, nevermind the fact that he'd slipped out unawares...
He approached the sound, still fully convinced he was going to be attacked by some foul witch or ghost trying to coax him closer, when he spotted her. She was hunched over in the grass and... completely naked?! He blinked, not really fully believing his eyes. But he couldn't stop his feet from getting closer from, trying to help her.
"..Miss? Are you okay?"
A fearsome king and loyal lover, Cuprite stands tall as the Leader of the Wildshape. For all it's inhabitants that come from every walk of life, every corner of the world, he fights to protect and improve their lives. He is not a dragon to take his work and role lightly and expects as much from his future offspring.
His best friend growing up was a dragon called Ambrose, a very energetic Pearlcatcher dragon. It was mostly unknown to him the animosity between the two breeds, but it became very apparent when he told his parents about his new friend, only be told to stop spending time with him. That only made the young dragon want to see his friend more. He needed to know what was so bad about his breed that his parents would openly demand he stop seeing him. Ambrose also had no idea as to why the two breeds had such disdain for each other.
"Why would anyone hate a Pearlcatcher? I think your pearls are really cool." Cuprite told his friend one day, huffing a bit at the idea of being mean just because of his breed. "Why wouldn't I think they're cool?"
"I'm not sure, honestly. I don't get why so many of my kind don't like yours. I asked my aunt and she said it's jealousy." Ambrose returned, shoulders shrugging apathetically.
"Well... I'm not jealous of any of the pearlcatchers! I think it's stupid to think like that." Cuprite huffed indignantly.
"And I'm not jealous of you. I can't really even think of a reason why I would be, you know?" Ambrose returned. "But... what can we do about other people? Not much."
"Well, when I'm older, I'm going to make my own clan where things like that don't matter. Where everyone is treated equally. I can't change everyone's way of thinking, but if you and I can think like this, the surely others can!" Cuprite huffed, sure of himself as he puffed his chest out. Nevermind the fact that he had no idea what it would take to lead a clan himself.
"That sounds nice... but I wonder if it's possible..." Ambrose sighed.
"Of course it is! Anything is possible if you put your mind to it."
Despite Cuprite's reassurances, he wasn't able to convince his friend to join him when he left their clan. The only person willing to join him was his sister, Raira. She was more than willing to leave, more out of a desire to be free from her parents than anything. Ambrose not joining him, didn't deter the young dragon. As soon as he was old enough to really grow into his wings, he approached his father and let him know of his intentions. As expected, the older dragon was none to happy to hear this, but respected his son's wishes. His mother, however, was less than happy and made several attempts over the course of Cuprite's preparations to leave to stop him and his sister.
Unable to sway Cuprite or Raira to stay, the two left and set off to find a space for their clan. They settled on the branches of the Behemoth, who branches held the Gladebough Village. Cuprite and his sister met their respective mates here among the other clans and convinced them to join them. Since then, they have welcomed dragons into their growing community. Cuprite rules their clan as "King" with a firm hand and a gentle voice. He allows dragons to enter freely and leave freely.
Dragons do have to be approved by his now trusted Advisors, a pair of Wildclaw dragons that had more than proven their worth protecting Cuprite and his family in the underbrush below the Behemoth. Amore and Aconite became a part of the Advisory Council that helped approve the acceptance of new dragons into their clan by helping them find a job/role within the community. Amore takes a larger role in helping to train old and new adult dragons to defend themselves along with his mate, Aconite.
Raira and her husband, Bercilak also help in guiding the community on the Advisory Council. Raira spends her time with her husband answering the questions of the clan in her brother's place so that Cuprite may spend his days working with other clan's leaders to build diplomatic influence for their clan and create healthy relationships with their neighbors.
One day, while taking a stroll through the forest with his mate, Cuprite noticed a small tuft of bright green fur poking out from the bush. It wiggled a bit as he approached. He called out softly, "Hello?"
His mate, Eden, perked her head up, now seeing the odd looking hair as well. And just as soon as she took a step to get closer, it seemed to pop out at her. She was about to lift a paw to claw at it in defense, when Cuprite lifted a paw to stop her.
The bright green tuft of hair had gotten herself stuck in a mess of tangled sticks and bramble. Her big bright pinks looked up at him and they swirled with an intense arcane energy. All he could think of was that it must have been painful, having so much magical energy in such a small body. Leaning down, Cuprite, gave the small deer looking creature a cursory sniff before moving to help her out of the brambles.
She huffed and stomped her hooves in protest, even though she knew deep down he was only trying to help her. Once freed, however, she pranced around him in glee, bounding cheerfully.
"That feels better, hm?" He chuckled, watching her until it made him feel dizzy. She paused for a moment, those big pink eyes watching him before she took a few steps closer to him, tentatively. Taking it as an invitation, Cuprite, bent his head down to her, to be a bit more on her level. At this, she slowly pressed forward until their noses touched.
Pink sparks seemed to literally fly in the space between their snouts, and Cuprite felt something shoot down his spine. His heart felt warm and suddenly he could her a voice...
"Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?"
The voice was soft, gentle and sounded very much like a young hatchling might.
"Yes... I can hear you..."
"Oh! Oh! Joy! That brings me so much joy! I think I would have been in those brambles forever if you hadn't come along." She chuckled, seeming to grin to herself. Her blue fur seemed to shimmer even more in the light of the sun as she stepped into a patch of sunlight.
"And you are...?" He asked, chuckling again.
"Hm? Me? I.. To be honest, I'm not sure what I am! I just.. woke up and started wandering around. And then I got stuck.. and then I met you!"
"My love... Just who exactly are you talking to?" Eden asked, a worried expression turning on her face as she watched him.
"Hm? You can't hear her?" He asked, confused.
"Oh, only you can! I'm your spirideer now!" She started, blinking for a moment. "Oh... I guess that just came to me... weird... But anyway, I bonded to you! Well, our hearts did." She explained, making a quick spin as sparkles of magic floated around her.
"My... Spirideer?" Cuprite started, blinking a bit. He hadn't expected a new companion today, much less one that bonded to him... But, here he was.
Raira had always been a free spirit. From the moment she was born, she had been contrary to her parents. It wasn't as if she lived to disagree with them, but she certainly had a mind of her own and nothing anyone said could dissuade her from doing what she wanted to do. Stubborn to a fault. The last thing Raira ever wanted was to be in charge of an entire clan but despite that, when given the opportunity to leave her little Lightning Clan to explore the greater world with her brother, she took it. Though, she hadn't anticipated he'd settle them down so quickly...
She still hasn't really forgiven him for that and regularly leaves the community to explore on her own. If asked, she'd explain that there was something inside of her, something that vibrated with an intensity she couldn't explain and the only solution was to fly free and explore at her own pace.
Raira didn't have many friends growing up, but the one she had was the truest friend she'd ever had. Pache, a male Fae dragon who despite being hard for her to understand, had become her closest friend and confidant. She could tell him anything and he would always listen with eyes that seemed to always understand her feelings. She'd often sneak him into her nest to hang out with her, since he was small enough to hide in her wings. The only person who knew about Pache was her brother Cuprite, who despite not understanding how she could understand or communicate with Pache respected her relationship with him.
Raira remembers a humorous moment when Pache and Cuprite misunderstood each other.
"...What? Why are you doing that?" Cuprite asked, his eyes narrowing as he watched the small white Fae dragon flutter around him, bouncing up and down from the ground wildly, his head frills moving and undulating.
"Raira!" The smaller dragon called, his voice high-pitched but utterly monotone.
"What about her?" Cuprite asked again.
"Birth! Birth!" Pache cried out, still trilling frantically.
"What?!" He asked, blinking. "Are you trying to say Raira has laid eggs? That's not even possible! She's too young!" He started, now frantic. "Oh god, how would we explain this to mother? Should we tell her? Do we have to?" Cuprite mumbled to himself, mind churning.
Pache visibly deflated a bit before starting back up again. By the time Pache spoke again, Cuprite was already running to find Raira. "Birth day! Birth dayyyy!" He cried out after the larger dragon.
Cuprite had found Raira by that point and a rather humorous exchange took place in which her brother, face impossibly red, tried to ask her if she had laid any eggs recently. Which had, in fact, prompted a rather red face from her as well. They had a rather long conversation about trying to learn how to properly read Pache's frills but that certainly wasn't the only time Cuprite and Pache had misunderstood each other.
When Raira arrived at the Gladebough Village, she met an incredibly handsome and sweet Imperial Dragon whom she fell instantly in love with. She spent the first few months they were in the village, following him around, trying to impress him with both her physical prowess and intelligence. He didn't seem interested at all at first. He often scoffed silently and turned his nose up at her, walking away. But after months of trying and trying, Raira was a few steps away from giving up on him completely when he actually responded to her.
"Bercilak! I found a pretty stone while hunting near the river that I wanted to show you." Raira called out, grinning as she dropped the stone at his table, where he was reading a scroll on the history of fighting tactics used by Ice dragons. She half expected him to completely ignore her and was ready after waiting a moment to pick the stone back up and turn away.
She watched him look up from his scroll, however, head raising just slightly as he looked at the stone. "It is.. very pretty.." He mumbled, glancing her away for the briefest of moments before looking back at his book.
From then on, Raira never left Bercilak alone and it seemed as though the younger dragon didn't mind. The true turning point in their relationship, however, came on a hunt Bercilak had accompanied Raira, her brother, and her brother's mate, Eden. The four were prowling the groves below the village. Eden and Cuprite split off, Raira assumed to go have some alone time. The thought alone made her incredibly jealous and she stuck her tongue out after her brother before continuing on. As she walked, however, she heard the roar of a dire claw.
It swiped at her and she barely managed to dodge out of the way. It felt as if everything moved in slow motion. The leaves in the trees seemed to still as she watched Bercilak leap out in front of her, fighting with the bear. He was severely wounded, but the young dragon did manage to hold his ground against the bear long enough for it to tire of them and run off. Worried, Raira raced to his side.
"Bercy, are you okay? Oh my goodness... Oh no... What am I going to do.." She cried out, tears streaming down her face. In her mind, his wounds had to be fatal, she just knew it.
"Calm down, little one..." He replied, his voice soft and even toned. It sounded as if he wasn't even hurt. Which, Raira had to admit had bolstered her mood considerably. Tears still streamed down her face but now, she felt like he would be okay, that it would be okay.
"Let me go get Cuprite!" She called out, starting to get up. She was stopped by Bercilak, who had grabbed her leg and pulled her back.
"Stay... He'll come back to check on us and I don't want you to be alone out there..." He grumbled, voice deep and now tinged with obvious pain. Raira could feel her heart breaking for him but she stayed with him, doing what she could. Cuprite did eventually find them and rush to help his sister get Bercilak back to the village for healing.
Since that moment, a sort of unspoken bond formed between Raira and Bercilak and they became mates despite never asking one another. Because of this incident, Raira spends a lot of her time researching healing salves and healing magic so that she never has to feel that helpless again.
Oh damn, should've told me that before I-... nah, nevermind, what has happened has happened. Let's focus on the now.
As things stand, as outlined in her CS, particularly in the personality and history sections, doing that will destroy: - Millie's background of being the princess of the most prominent country in the European continent. - Millie's core motivation and goals because it's intrinsically tied to her background.
Obviously, that's not ideal. Though I do agree that such a notion is very hilarious, but perhaps for a different reason than yours, but I'm not going to bother you with it, because...
Ultimately, regardless of my preferences, you have the ultimate authority since you're the GM and this is your world, so if you insist on doing that, then consider Millie cancelled and I'll shift to Maximillian as my primary PC.
Oh, no, not at all. I'm not married to the idea. I can absolutely shift to something else. It's just flavor and not like.. a super important or well thought out plan? Lol. So, no need to cancel her at all! I'm just dumb and didn't realize HRE was Germany. If that tells you anything about how historically naïve I am. I'll make that change and it won't affect much at all!
I would go ahead and start drumming ideas for character ideas/connections that might be related to your characters. This could help other writers design characters around those ideas or say "hey, my character could probably do that with yours!"
As an example;
Connections Wanted - Old Childhood friend who knew Character A back when they were in the institute, someone who knows about his past but likely doesn't know that they're actively trying to hide it. - A rival from their home town that used to bully them when they were younger. - A Cousin/Sibling - Someone that Character A is currently betrothed to via political marriage.
If that's a silly idea and you don't think it would be helpful, please feel free to ignore. That's optional but I think would help others know what you want for your character and the roles that they can potentially fill for them.
A mischievous young man who doesn't allow "fate" to be his downfall and always seems to have a smile on his face.
Name:Alpheus Pleiades Hoel Aliases:Alphi/Alfi or Pleiades Age:Sixteen-years-old Class:First year Gender:Male Specialty:Life Magic Role/Rank/and Order:Student and Noble (cousin to the French Royalty)
Physical Attributes
Height:6'2 Weight:190 Build:Semi-athletic, slender, body-type not broad though shoulders are broad for his body type. Eyes:Green. Alpheus has green eyes that look no different from everyone else unless you have known him long enough. The problem is that the young man was diagnosed with a genetic condition that deteriorates the individual's sight. When he was younger, he could see perfectly fine, but he began deteriorating after the age of twelve. Currently, Alpheus can make out everything in blurs and smudges. If something is very close to his face, he can see the slightly finer details, but he will never be able to see like others. Hair:A sea of black with tight waves and loose curls make up his hair. Skin:Fair though he can become sun-kissed if he's outside a lot. Scars/tattoos/piercings:Currently there are no tattoos or piercings on his body. Alpheus does have a scar from when he was ten years old. It's a nasty-looking scar that zig-zags from his left shoulder blade to the lower right part beside his spine. He got it from playing with siblings and friends. Alpheus fell off the porch onto one of his mother's decorative clay flower pots. Day-to-day attire:A mild-colored dress shirt that usually has complimentary colored high-waist dress pants. Depending on the colors he wears, his nicer-looking leather dress boots are either a shade of brown or black that are cut off before the knee. Each pair laces up from toe to the top. Strengths:Fantastic listener, eavesdropper, and hearer. His heart. "I work out" ~ Stays fit so he is slightly more intimidating by appearance so people don't want to mess with him. Weakness:Extremely limited eyesight, defensive tendencies for the ones he cares about, passionate about keeping the ones he cares about safe, shutting himself down and others, and talks way too much sometimes.
Psychological Attributes
☦︎ ☦︎ ☦︎
Sexuality:Bisexual Relationship Status:Currently Single Personality:Before the diagnosis and the decline, Alpheus was like any other child. Happy and innocent. Everything was grand in the naive life of this young nobleboy. How could anything be seen as sad, negative, or anything be wrong when you are surrounded by wealth, loving parents, and life? That was the foundation of Alpheus's personality which probably made the diagnosis and process of deterioration not as bad. After that, it might have been the fear of being forgotten or how the majority began to pity him, but Alpheus became the "class clown" so he would receive the amount of attention he used to. The young man honestly would tell anyone that he believes his mother and father took the diagnosis and deterioration harder than he did and he is the one experiencing it. It didn't change who he was, it only changed how he perceived the world around him. Alpheus believes he sees the world for what it is, good and bad, and he sees his "disability" as a blessing in a way or that might be how he keeps himself in denial. How he keeps himself positive. He repeatedly reminded himself that it was a blessing and not a curse, not the end of the world, and life would go on. Life has to go on.
To most people, Alpheus is a carefree individual who jokes too much. He does take things seriously though he chooses to sit back and relax more than have a "stick up my butt" as he likes to say. Life is too short to always worry and be serious with your nose up all the time. Putting negative care into the little things. The little things are the best part of life in his eyes.
Do not be fooled by this happy-go-lucky boy, he can be extremely serious and pessimistic, especially if he is driven to be that way or if something is bothering him. People who know him might be shocked if he isn't talkative or positive because he always is. If he isn't, something is wrong. UNLESS, he is out in nature where he loves to listen to everything else.
Alpheus can be like any other Hoel, a stubborn, inconsiderate man who knows exactly where to jab to make it hurt. He listens to everything and everyone. The young man can have a bratty attitude if tested and he can be very rebellious which gets him trouble a lot. His unfiltered mouth gets him in trouble even more. Habits:A nervous tick of his is squeezing his thumb along with his pointer and middle finger around his wrists. Extremely animated when he speaks. Examining things by feel, scent, sound, and taste - yes, Alpheus will lick almost anything to keep it in his memory because he can't use sight to remember what it is. Hobbies:"Reading", lounging around in nature or being out in nature, hanging out in the stables, trying to identify people as their "smudge" form, and hanging out in cafes. Fears:Going fully blind, forgetting what certain people, colors, or animals look like, thunder/thunderstorms, and being vulnerably attached to people. Likes:Proving to people that he can do anything as a "seer" can, spending time with people, nature (plants and animals), tea, pastries, walks, and the little things. Dislikes:People who assume his disability holds him back, being alone, not knowing where he is, opening his eyes in the dark (it causes him to realize that is what he will see once he goes fully blind if he goes fully blind), and aggressive storms.
Skills
Cooking (Journeyman): Alpheus loved to cook as a child and he continued that love while his deterioration set in. A part of him believed that losing his sight helped his taste and other senses which helped him become a better cook. The boy was naturally talented from a young age and he loved to show off these skills to anyone who willingly tasted his food even if they were terrified of it being horrible. Alpheus loves to invite others over for potlucks or basic dinners to spend time with others and share a little bit of "love and happiness" as he puts it.
Bow staff(Journeyman): Alpheus has been using a bow staff as a way to protect himself since he was younger or he at least was being trained since he was a young boy. You can make anything out of a bow staff, he says, since a broomstick can be one, a random stick in the woods, or a petal fence pole. Its very versatile and he can severely hurt someone with this ability, but he usually stays on the defense unless persuaded by someone else's actions.
Walking without a cane (Apprentice): Alpheus never wanted to be "helpless" so he forced himself to learn how to walk without any help. There was a lot of pain in this learning experience and accidents still happen, though he seems to do it as well as everyone else. It helps him not appear blind either. However, he is not a master at it yet and still walks into poles, sides of buildings, and isn't really great around cliffs/edges just because he hasn't figured that out yet.
Pianist (Apprentice): Even with his eyesight failing him, Alpheus can play the piano beautifully, and he loves to play when there is one around.
Kalimba (Novice): Alpheus decided he wanted to learn something new. Why not another instrument? He might be new at the handheld device but is learning it well. You might not like it but at least the birds seem to love it, at least in his eyes.
Talents & Powers
Restorative Touch (Power/Minor): Can heal mild physical wounds or injuries upon touch. The problem with ability is that it drains the user's vitality and energy which will leave Alpheus fatigued or weakened after each healing session. Prolonged use may lead to severe exhaustion or even physical deterioration.
Alpheus can use this ability to heal above mild physical wounds and injuries but instead of healing an individual and sleeping for an extra few hours or taking a nap. Whatever he is trying to heal about mild injuries will begin to appear on him instead like it transfers from body to body. This could kill him.
This ability can be used on people who have illnesses such as common colds, flu, pneumonia, ear infections, stomachaches, or other common things. Just like taking on more than he should, Alpheus "healing" these issues will cause the sickness to transfer from the individual being healed to him.
This cannot heal broken bones or reattach anything to the individual's body. This cannot heal diseases such as cancer, and genetic disorders, and he cannot cure incurable illnesses.
History
Parents: Pran and Anuli Hoel. Siblings: Suad (older brother, 19), Galo (younger brother, 14), and Elsie (youngest sister, 8). Childhood: Alpheus grew up alongside the French royal family for he shared the last name and the aesthetic like his siblings. His father's brother is the king of France. In his father's eyes, that meant his children deserved the best as well, and they were all home-schooled along with their cousins till the age of fourteen when they were given the choice to go to private school or continue their at-home education.
The boy is a little odd because of all the isolation from his younger years and how much attention was given and pulled away from him. When he was little, his parents were "always busy" and his older brother experienced the same behavior. The only reason their parents changed their behaviors is because Alpheus was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that has appeared to skip all the other children.
He and his siblings were practically created to broaden the genetic pool among the royals and other nobles. They were there as pawns in their parent's games. It was a curse and a blessing when Alpheus got pulled out of it. He was supposed to marry the daughter of a neutral country to make attachments to France, but they rejected him once his deterioration started. Alpheus could only giggle to himself because he didn't want to be with such a shallow person anyway. His parents were furious that he thought it was funny. That one thing strained him and his father's relationship. Alpheus believes that his father still blames him for the country not being able to get that marriage aligned and trade routes in effect.
After the deterioration, Alpheus was the one to blame for anything significantly bad happening. He was the "curse" on the family name even though he was one of the only Hoel's that could use magic without it exploding back onto him. How is he the cursed one when everyone else sucks so much in his family? Call him the "black sheep", the "odd one out" or just a flat out "fool" but he is glad to be away from his family even if his father is paying for the bare minimum of everything and his mother slips him some allowance money ever now and again. Adulthood Not there yet. Special moments: Becoming limited by his vision. Current events: Currently nothing.
"Can't you see I am reading!?" "You have something on your face; right there." "Is that a ___inserts scary animal/insect/etc here___ right there!?" "Does it look like my magic is useful in a fight? Look at this!? It makes me sick! I'm practically useless un-- Oh. Thanks. I was going to say give me a staff." Theme Song: Sweet tooth & We don't have to dance Aura Color: Plum. Scent: Wintergreen. Partner: None. More: ___.
I think I'm going for a runefencer route, so probably gonna combine nordic runes with either italian or spanish swordfighting... or both... and probably add in more since the guys writing italian and spanish swordfighting manuals were actual lunatics...
the stuff La Verdadera Destreza made or the stuff fiore di batagglia made were kinda wild.
I can probably also drag in numerology, thinking about it.
I like your fancy words, little man. Lol. Jokes aside, the idea of runefencing is really intriguing. I'm eager to see what you mean by that!
Take your time friend! Good things take time and I'm not in any sort of rush. While I'd love to go ahead and get this going, I'd also rather spend the time making sure we have a good cast and connections between those characters.
This looks interesting. Do you all have world building down? What are the limitations of magic? I did see it mentioned that it was spells and such like from 5th edition. Someone had also mentioned that the gods could be powerful mages. Sounds like Mage: The Awakening or Ascension. We did try doing some custom stuff to our game like adding the zodiac as gods chosen. If the gods are a thing are consolation other god like entities? Is this a specific pantheon or mixed?
Sorry for all the questions. I will probably read along with this one. If you would like help creating teachers and other students/families please let me know.
Don't apologies for questions! I'm happy you're interested enough to ask them! I haven't considered too deeply the limitations of magic. I was hoping we could just sort of do what feels right story-wise. But I am following DnD 5e ideas so to speak for the actual magic. I could, alternatively use rules like Fire Emblem where literally all the character needs is the spell book and possibly some components or maybe the spell book has limited uses? I just wouldn't be sure how that would work realistically? Hmm...
I'd be interested to hear your take on how magic should be handled! I just don't want to get bogged down in all the nitty gritty details that we miss the "cool/fun" factor of our story.
A Duke's daughter sounds fantastic! Feel free to drum up a knight as well if you'd like, but just know that we may not ask everyone to double up, only if needed.
Part of the background lore I'd been designing involved Germany being invaded and occupied by Poland (mainly because that amused me and I'm not a history person). If you, as the person running the princess of Germany don't mind that, I can keep going with it. Otherwise, I can choose another set of countries to do silly things with.
Hm, thinking it over, I actually probably don't have the time to do this RP after all. Dangerous thing to be juggling so much when I need to be job hunting instead.
Good luck with it though, y'all!
That is absolutely fair! Proud of you for realizing that. Best of luck on that job hunt, I know from experience how much that sucks ass. If you ever find yourself with more time, and hopefully a job, please know that you're always welcome to join us!
For the benefit of everyone, I wish to reiterate that he's an optional PC, only to be made official if there's a need for us to double up. If there's not, then Millie will be my (only) PC.

Name: Maximillian Edenheit Aliases: Max, White Knight, Dreamboat Age: 17 Class: First Year Gender: Male Specialty: Swordsmanship Role, Rank, and Order: Student, Knight, Order of Shield
Attributes
Height: 172cm (5'8") Weight: 78kg (172lbs) Build: Athletic, toned Eyes: Sapphire Hair: Blonde, short, combed leftward Skin Tone: Pale Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: Various faded cut scars and calloused hands from intense training. Day To Day Attire: Either school uniform or a white formal suit w/ blue accents.
Strengths:
❖ Valiant: Maximillian is brave, there's no other way around it. The blonde barely flinches in the face of danger, maintaining his cool even in situations that'll send the common man to panic. Though he's not completely unable to feel fear, he can reliably channel that fear into focus instead. ❖ Robust: The White Knight matches his stalwart mental fortitude with admirable physical endurance. He can take more blows than the average person before going down and the effects of healing magic appear to be amplified when cast on him. ❖ Kind: Max is one of those individuals who possess a genuinely kind heart, he almost always helps others without expecting any reward even in situations where it's his right to be compensated, and it's exceedingly difficult for him to hold a grudge. Although he doesn't hesitate to punish evil when he sees it, but only because it's the right thing to do and not due to any personal vendetta.
Weaknesses:
❖ Naive: A wide-eyed idealist, a young boy who never quite grew up, a naive fool, so said his detractors, but they may have a point. Maximillian believes that with enough effort, good will triumph over evil and that every villain will always get their dues, except that reality often isn't quite so simple. ❖ Sexist: His fascination with olden tales of chivalry and knighthood may have inspired him to walk the path of a selfless protector, but on the other hand, they also influenced him to put women in a certain light, that they're delicate flowers who must be protected from the evils of the world. Though Max doesn't consciously realize it most of the time, others can see that he's hesitant to fight women and tends to assume that evil women are simply 'misguided'.
Psychology
Brave * Chivalrous * Altruistic * Idealistic
Sexuality: Heterosexual Relationship Status: Single Personality: Gallant, chivalrous, brave, and selfless, Maximillian embodies the concept of the 'knight in shining armor'. He believes that it's his duty to help the helpless and defend those who can't defend themselves. There's a certain naively idealistic air about him that endears to some, but infuriates others, however, whether they agree or not with his methods, one will be hard-pressed to deny that for all of his faults, Max is truly a kind person. He truly, genuinely, wishes to bring happiness to others, to fight so they don't have to. Such a character may be commonplace in tales of gallant knights and heroic adventurers, but not so much in the real world.
Unscrupulous individuals, especially if they're women, who know how to mask ill intent behind a cordial mask will find it quite easy to pull Maximillian's strings. The White Knight may believe he's fighting on the side of good and justice, but if he's not careful, his trusting nature may very well be his own undoing.
Habits:
❖ Chuckling and/or smiling to express disagreement. ❖ Opening doors, giving way, and various other "gentlemanly" things for people, especially girls.
Hobbies:
❖ Horse riding, it's an enjoyable pastime as well as a necessary skill for him. ❖ Volunteer work, at least one good deed a day. ❖ Enjoying fiction, especially Epic and High Fantasy, whether in the form of books, movies, or video games.
❖ Tyrants ❖ Tales with a "bad ending" ❖ Manipulators ❖ Oppression ❖ Beaches ❖ Wasps
Skills
A listing of skills, such as horseback riding or cooking. Levels include novice, apprentice, journeyman, expert, master.
Swordsmanship (Journeyman): From the moment he first held onto the grip of a sword, Max knew that he was born to carry the blade, wield it, and perhaps one day, die by it. Though he himself never thinks of his talents as any special, any fencing instructor worth their salt will recognize the boy's natural aptitude with the weapon. With time and experience, he has a good chance of standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the greatest swordsmen in history.
Horse Riding (Apprentice): A proper knight shouldn't be a one-trick pony, thus, even though his greatest talent lies with the sword, Max picks up other disciplines to complement his sacred role. He's not as skilled with them yet, but he has no intention of stopping here. Though other faster, more reliable forms of travel are available nowadays, Max won't feel quite right if he doesn't know how to ride these majestic beasts that had served humanity since time immemorial.
Archery (Apprentice): It's folly to think that a knight can only fight up close as sometimes, certain situations require a more distant approach. Between fighting ‘honorably’ or saving an innocent's life? There's no choice to make because there's only one right answer.
Hiking (Apprentice): Max's fondness for mountains and physical exercise in general incentivize him to go hiking, exploring the wonders of nature while training his body at the same time, kill two birds with one stone as they say.
Waltz (Novice): Inspired by scenes of a knight hero dancing elegantly with their princess (or prince) in the tales he saw, Max had an idea to take up waltz lessons, but apparently, being skilled in fencing footwork doesn't immediately translate to the dance floor.
Talents & Powers
A listing of unique talents, magic, or possessions. Teachers may have two majors and two minors. 4th year Knights may have one major and two minors. 3rd year Knights may have two minors. 2nd year Knights may have one minor. Nobles and 1st year Knights may have one minor. For the Order of Shield, please fill out with specialized attacks/maneuvers/weapons/etc. For the Order of Twilight, please fill out with magic/artifacts/specialized moves/etc.
Golden Dawn (Artifact / Minor): An old heirloom of the Edenheit family taking the form of a golden-blue longsword. It's said to be once wielded by one of the Knights of the Round Table. Whether the legend is true or not, one thing is clear, the sword holds some supernatural power as despite possibly being older than a millennium (if the legends are to be believed), it's still pristine as if freshly forged. Aside from being utterly shattered into million pieces, the sword will eventually return to this flawless state.
The eldest child of three siblings, Maximillian was born to a happily-married middle-class family in the United Kingdom, specifically England. Being the oldest and only boy amongst his siblings had acclimatized Max to the role of a protector and guide, the one his younger sisters depended on whenever his parents weren't available. Perhaps this was why tales of chivalrous knights resonated greatly with him; whether it was the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table or Emperor Charlegmane and his Holy Paladins, the blonde boy had been fascinated by such stories of stalwart chivalry, unflinching in the face of evil.
And indeed, there are evil in the real world as well, whether it took the form of bullies trying to hurt his sisters or tyrannical dictators oppressing the people, the real world is full of villains who must be punished so that the good may live peacefully. A daydreamer, a wide-eyed idealist, a naive little fool, whatever his peers chose to call him, good or bad, Maximillian knew one thing, that he was born into this earth to be a crusader of justice, to be the defender of the defenseless, and helper of those who can't help themselves.
Thus, between his regular education, Maximillian began taking fencing classes, and this was where he - and his family - discovered his talent. It was as if Sir Gawain himself was reincarnated as him. Speaking of which, perhaps there was some truth to the legends behind the old family heirloom, an enchanted longsword that has been passed down from generations to generations, once said to be wielded by one of the Knights of the Round Table.
Adolescence:
As it turned out, one of his father's most prominent clients, a nobleman of the Harcourt family, heard news of the accountant's eldest son. Intrigued by the boy's vision and talents, the nobleman offered to sponsor his enrollment into the illustrious Saint Valerius Academy. Honored by the generous proposition, Maximillian graciously accepted and vowed to do his utmost best, he shall be a full-fledged knight, crusader of justice!
If there are billions of good people on this world, then he's one of them; if there are only a million or even a few thousands, then he's still one of them; if there's only one, then he's that person; finally, if there's none left, then that means he's no longer alive. He'll defend all that's good and well in the world until his very last breath.
Special Moments: ❖ When he first wields his family's heirloom sword. ❖ When he received sponsorship from the Harcourt family to enroll in Saint Valerius Academy.
❖ Character Quote: “With this blade, I offer thee an accord; Stand by me and thou shall naught fear a thing.” ❖ Theme Song:Silver Sky Knight ❖ Aura Color: Gold ❖ Scent: White Lily ❖ Partner: TBA
I will look him over later if I have time since he's a secondary PC. Might still use him as an NPC even if we all only need to make one, if that makes sense.

Okay, I think I responded to most everyone. Again, if you have ideas for plot, our magic system, etc and would like to write up a section for it, you will be credited for that work in the OP! We are creating this story collaboratively. I'm just the one who makes the final decision because.. well.. because I suppose that makes the most sense. Lol.
Skills
Cooking (Master): Alpheus loved to cook as a child and he continued that love while his deterioration set in.
Walking without a cane (Master): Alpheus never wanted to be "helpless" so he forced himself to learn how to walk without any help. There was a lot of pain in this learning experience and accidents still happen, though he seems to do it as well as everyone else. It helps him not appear blind either.
Pianist (Expert): Even with his eyesight failing him, Alpheus can play the piano beautifully, and he loves to play when there is one around.
Bow staff(Expert): Alpheus has been using a bow staff as a way to protect himself since he was younger or he at least was being trained since he was a young boy. You can make anything out of a bow staff, he says, since a broomstick can be one, a random stick in the woods, or a petal fence pole. Its very versatile and he can severely hurt someone with this ability, but he usually stays on the defense unless persuaded by someone else's actions.
More: ___.
Home for the day so I likely won't look at this in depth until tomorrow but wanted to let you know as it my immediate concern. The skills are mostly expert or master, which I absolutely expect from a 4th year or teacher, but not something I expect from a 1st year. I would say he can have max skills at journey but no higher currently. Unless there are extenuating circumstances. A character who is already a master or expert at something has no where to improve. I'd consider looking at that again.
I do like the talent, but I'll look at that in more depth tomorrow and might have more feedback at that point.
Actually, since we got magic and mages running around, do monsters and supernatural beings exist? Do gods? Etc.
Yes, however they are not believed to be real. Or at least are so rare that they aren't believed to be real. I do have plans for some magic beings/beasties to show up in the plot.
If you guys think it would be more fun to have the supernatural more present and less myth, we can do that too! But at present the plan is for them to be incredibly rare and unheard of. Which, I think makes for more mystery and intrigue surrounding them.
Looking through the thread, I’m not actually seeing much in the way of mechanics or lore for how magic generally functions. Is there stuff that just hasn’t been added yet, or is it a sort of thing of “do whatever so long as it makes sense”?
Mostly just do whatever as long as it makes sense. I'm generally going to be following the same kind of mechanics that DnD 5e would follow, but I don't want our story to get bogged down in deep mechanics. Magic comes from books, innate talent for it, and the spells themselves. But if you want to splash in some other stuff like the enchantment magic
Also, if anyone has any ideas for drama related to countries, please, please send me those. I'm rather shit at government related dramas and intrigue and could use the help in fleshing out some of the subplots that might be happening in the background.

He is not a dragon to take his work and role lightly and expects as much from his future offspring.<br><br>His best friend growing up was a dragon called Ambrose, a very energetic Pearlcatcher dragon. Ambrose also had no idea as to why the two breeds had such disdain for each other.<br><br>"Why would anyone hate a Pearlcatcher? I think your pearls are really cool." Anything is possible if you put your mind to it."<br><br>Despite Cuprite's reassurances, he wasn't able to convince his friend to join him when he left their clan. His mother, however, was less than happy and made several attempts over the course of Cuprite's preparations to leave to stop him and his sister.<br><br>Unable to sway Cuprite or Raira to stay, the two left and set off to find a space for their clan. Leaning down, Cuprite, gave the small deer looking creature a cursory sniff before moving to help her out of the brambles.<br><br>She huffed and stomped her hooves in protest, even though she knew deep down he was only trying to help her.
