Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

Kimiko was starting to get annoyed with the bickering. This is why she spent most of her time in solitude. The only person who can argue with your thoughts was yourself, and Kimiko rather enjoyed her internal debates sometimes. This wasn't a debate. It was two people claiming they were right and the other was wrong, then throwing insults instead of assistance.

"Do you want to die?" Kimiko spoke up. "We have no idea what exists here. We have no idea whether our assumptions are still true in this place. Heading left or right does not matter. What matters is that we move, and that we move together. We can formulate a plan while in action just as easy as staying still, and it gets us closer to our exit."

Tugging on her friend's hand, Kimiko stepped forward. "I am heading this way," she said, pointing with her fake sword towards where Isami's plan would normally lie. "If we are lucky, this will be the way to our destination. If we are not, we shall adjust our plans as necessary. You may continue to stand here and bicker if you wish. I shall attend your funeral and bid my good wishes to your families. In the meantime, I wish to choose survival. Come, Ikari-san. I pray we are successful."
@Turbowraith@Mistiel - I rolled Init for you. Lex got a 6 - 1 = 5. Ceria got a 15 + 3 = 18.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity - Arthera is up first!

Brandon waved goodbye to Amelia and Elizabeth as they parted ways. Despite the size of the mansion, or perhaps because of it, he could hear the sounds of the others' arrival echo through the halls. He was both elated and slightly dejected that more guys had arrived. At least the summer wouldn't be so awkward if there were other guys.

"Did I hear swimming?" Brandon called out as he rounded the corner. For the first time since he had arrived, he allowed a little excitement to shine through his voice. He had hoped a place like this would have a pool, although he was unaware of the first half of that particular conversation. Brandon greeted the newcomers with a welcoming smile before he walked up to Damarquis. With the smile still on his face, Brandon swung a fist lightly into his friend's upper arm. "That is for stealing my valedictorian spot, you jerk," he said. "Nice graduation speech, by the way."

Brandon glanced around at those who had arrived. Most of his study group was here now which helped ease some of his tensions. Out of the group, he was most comfortable around Alex and Ronnie, even though they were into sports much more than Brandon was; and out of the girls in the group, he felt most comfortable with Penny since he had basically been a second teacher for her for quite a while. He harbored a sense of pride that he was able to help all three of them pass some of their toughest courses, although some of them had required more help than others.

In any case, the arrival of these newcomers calmed some of Brandon's nerves. He turned to address Ronnie, having overheard the previous question. "Lizzy took Amy to get a shower. They must have gotten dirty in the garden or something."
@Turbowraith@Mistiel@The Harbinger of Ferocity - Battles have started. Please roll initiative and let me know the result.

To everyone: Please keep in mind that during battles, everybody in the group is waiting for you to post. I understand that people get busy, but during battles, I am allowing a maximum of 48 hrs before I simply pick an action for your PC. I doubt any actions I choose will be optimal. I would much prefer not needing to use this method, and everybody else would prefer not to wait 48 hrs. If you have several consecutive offenses without providing a reason (traveling, vacations, etc count as reasons), I will simply assume or assign control of your PC, and then drop them off at the nearest tavern and / or active volcano.

The serpentine creatures swam closer, crying out in some foul language the same phrase over and over again until it seemed burned into everyone's mind. A high-pitched screech of Svent, svent, svent! echoed through the waters as they approached. These creatures seemed to have some intelligence to them, and curled up a short distance from the boat, ready to dart away from our attacks. Thankfully, they seemed unable or unwilling to act... or perhaps they waited for something.

@Big Dread is up next!
((DM Post))

No matter your response, you have no time before the thugs are upon you. They seem ready to attack anyone who stands in their way, including you.
Roll for Initiative!

The group bid their adieus to the General and his assistant, leaving the barracks and beginning the journey northwards towards the prison away from the center of festivities. As they traveled further from the center of town, the quality of the architecture steadily declined from the wide and well-maintained cobble streets and pristine buildings to muddy narrow passages and crumbling mud-brick walls.

The populace gradually shifted from humans and elves to a higher quantity of tieflings, half-orcs, and other races generally assumed to be low-lives. If it weren’t for their kurjian ally leading the way promising that the prison was just ahead, many of the party may have thought they were being led towards a den of thieves. They wouldn’t be far from the truth, in any case.

“Watch it!” came a voice from up ahead, angrily calling out after a half-elf maid who was sprinting towards them. Behind her was a group of several less-than-pleasant-looking ruffians. A goliath with blue tattoos crossing his angered face led the charge of a rodent kurjian, a human, and another form whose face was covered with a mask.

“Get back here and face your death, you cowardly snake-oil salesman!” came the angry bellow from the goliath. “That potion did absolutely nothing, and you know it!” The townsfolk in the street pressed themselves against the wall as the group barreled through the narrow streets. The half-elf didn’t slow down at the call, but instead ran directly into the party. Unable to push past them, she looked to be trapped between these newcomers and the ruffians behind her.

We decided to randomize rooms. Each character has their own room, but is sharing a bathroom with someone else as noted below. Newcomers will get added in randomly as makes sense.

The wolf screamed down from the watery heavens with a howl and a swirling dervish of driving snow. On its howl, the crew could swear they heard various words in Common: "Trespassers, Infiltrators, Go back!" The wolf inhaled deeply and released an icy blast that covered our entire ship, causing the crew to shiver.

>Dyn, Calico, Nemiea, and Garnesh must make a CON save. @Lauder@Hekazu@Big Dread@Zverda

>Garnesh and Nemiea pass their save, taking 10 Cold damage.
>Calico and Dyn fail their save, taking 20 Cold damage.

Jill searched her memory for the identity of a wolf that could send a blast of ice from its jowls. The only creature she could think of was a Winter Wolf, but those were usually much weaker and generally did not fly. This creature seemed much more dangerous, and would require much more effort than one of those. Knowing that she could not turn the ship against both forces of nature and denizens of another realm, she left the wheel to its own devices, instead rushing into the center of the ship. Concentrating deeply on the hidden secrets she had uncovered from an ancient sect of paladins, she glared up at the wolf, her eyes shimmering with white light. "Come, behold our power!" she shouted, unleashing an invisible wave of energy among her allies.

Turning her attention to her floundering crewmate, Jill shouted out some "encouragement" to Reemes. "Break time isn't for another three hours, Calico! Get your ass back to the ship where I can see it!"

Brandon's eyes followed Amelia's gaze around the garden, taking in the view. It felt obvious to him that the roses he had brought were unnecessary, potentially insulting to those who cared for the garden, and his heart plummeted. But despite his assumed faux pas, the rest of the day or summer didn't necessarily need to follow the same path.

"The ride was beautiful," Brandon replied. "I haven't driven up this way for a while. Everything seems... grander." "And more expensive" could have been added on the end of the statement, but that seemed less polite. Brandon waved to Amelia to get her attention, and silently signed Nice place to her. Or at least he hoped that was the right gesture.
