Current I'm going to have to take a break for awhile. One of my dogs just passed; we went to bed together like we always do and when I woke up she was gone. I feel awful right now.

Had a fun birthday. Had some alligator tail for dinner, overall was pretty good for a place I hadn't been to before. Will start getting back into the groove of things soon.

Hi. If you've wound up here, you're probably wondering who I am.

You can call me Kuro, although some of you might better recognize me by one of the several other names that I have used in the past throughout the 11-ish years that I have spent on this forum. I'm a middle-twenties retail manager that is still trying to relive the glory days of their roleplay career while balancing a full-time job with an unsatiable need for overtime.

I tend to be open to most ideas when it comes to roleplay itself, be it whatever genre, group size, system, etc. That being said, I often gravitate to anything that falls in the following categories: anime, fantasy, slice of life, superhero or survival horror. If you believe that you have an idea that I might be interested in, feel free to shoot me a link; I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Sometimes I forget to check my messages, so don't feel bad about pestering me again if I missed it.

I also have a discord server laying around. If we're cool, then I might be willing to a toss an invite your way.

@Ambra They have been doing that, though. The issue is that Mahz is the only one who can actually grant that privilege, and historically he has been of the opinion that he doesn't want to give back door privileges.

All anyone can really do, both mod and member-wise, is wait for Mahz to come back or see what Legend might be able to push without needing Mahz. Like the chrome plug-in, for instance.
It had been a cold, wintery night. The ground was blanketed by soft snow, which still fell from the sky at an easy pace. Streetlights reflected off the pearly white color, brightening the neighborhood street from out of the darkness. Across one, specific house, a car came to a slow and parked against the curb.

Stepping out of the car, Adelyn Crawford leaned against the side of the vehicle. Her hands were stuffed in her coat pockets, and the icy cold froze her cheeks. Nonetheless, Adelyn deliberately chose to ignore the freezing weather; the only thought in her head was that of the people, in their house, across the street.

They were safe and sound. They were warm. They were her family.

Adelyn wanted nothing more than to walk right inside the front door. She wanted to tell Jonathan, her husband, that she had been held up at work. She wanted to watch little Haleigh, her daughter, stumble-walk in excitement that her mother was home. But Adelyn couldn't. Not now, nor likely ever again. Things were different now despite how much it had pained her to come to terms with that. She couldn't put her family at risk and in harm's way by staying here.

Maybe she was a fool for falling in love whilst undercover. Perhaps she should've ignored Jonathan and continued on like nothing happened. But each time Adelyn beat herself up over it, the happy faces of her family pushed their way to the forefront. Each little memory replayed in her head, and Adelyn had to fight the urge to not breakdown where she stood; her heart hanging heavy at all the memories she would miss in the future.

Adelyn took a deep breath to compose herself. She needed to get going before someone noticed her.

Forcing her feet to move, Adelyn climbed back into the car. She paused, staring out into the dark street whilst her hands sat unsteady as they held the steering wheel. She didn't want to leave, but she had to.

We'll see each other again someday. Adelyn thought, shedding a tear as she shifted the car into gear.

First Class #2.84 Chef Haleigh?

Interaction(s): Efraim @Theyra
Previously: Fresh Start

Haleigh looked up from her phone to the person speaking to her.

"Sure, I don't mind."

The person in question had been one of Firebird's—Efraim Tenorio, one of her three new dorm mates. There hadn't been much that Haleigh actually knew about him, to be honest. They had chosen the same house and had met over the weekend, but being on different teams left much to be discovered. Still, from the little they talked, Efraim seemed nice enough, and she didn't mind passing time with him while they waited for everyone else to gather outside the mess hall.

Closing her phone, Haleigh slid it back in her pocket and turned to Efraim.

"So, how did you like breakfast? I hope it turned out right. I don't usually cook on a stove. I mean, at least not an electric stove like the ones in our dorms. I was always been out and about helping to teach outdoor classes or acting as a trail guide, so I had grown used to cooking directly over fire, or if I had it, a portable butane stove."

Oh no, Haleigh, there you went again, rambling on about camping and the outdoors. Any time the opportunity came up she just couldn't help herself. It had happened at the campsite, when she tried showing her know-how to everyone... only to nearly have a meltdown when she realized that the school had taken out all the fun and hard-earned effort that came with setting up your own tent and campground. What was the point in going camping if you were going to not put the work in?

At least the school couldn't ruin her family's camping recipes on top of everything. Or so Haleigh hoped. The meal seemed fine to her, but she hadn't heard from the boys as to whether or not they liked it or not.

"If you guys want, I can always handle the meal plan while you guys help cover the other chores that need doing. I'd have to check in with Rory first, though. Given that he is certainly all into sports and exercise, I'm not entirely sure if he keeps to a special diet or limits his intake of certain things."

JESSICA HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH VIOLENCE BEFORE.

The auditorium carnage was still fresh in her mind. Though it had been two hours since, the incident nonetheless had been an unshakeable thought, and the events in the auditorium replayed on continuous loop.

Classmates pleading for help as their peers ripped them apart. Friends thrown to the ground by students focused on saving their own skin. The gory massacre horrified Jess, whose heart refused to still and nearly pounded out of her chest. There were people she disliked or didn't particularly care for, but even the dipshits of Stockbridge didn't deserve to be devoured alive by bloodthirsty, cannibalistic monsters. No one deserved a fate like that.

She had been wise to back away from the crowd when the first infected show signs of turning. It seemed sensible at the time, to not run towards the direction of a person who had clearly gone insane and was now actively trying to cannibalize others. But as Jess had backed herself tightly against a wall, eyes wide at the chaos taking place before her, there had been only one, singular thought rattling around in her head.

What the fuck?

By the grace of God, or in actuality by pure, dumb luck, Jess had managed to escape in one piece, having fled to a classroom; Mr. Potter's, by the looks of it. There had been a couple of her peers alongside her—mostly kids that stood on the top end of the the Stockbridge totem pole. Nonetheless, Jess hadn't particularly cared who at the moment, perhaps more so than usual as she sat exhausted on the cold, classroom floor. She was just glad that they weren't currently surrounded by zombified freaks eager to eat everyone in the room whole. Just being alive had been good enough for Jess for the time being.

Pulling out her phone from her coat pocket, Jess' thoughts shifted to her parents. She contemplated sending out a SOS message; perhaps her father could rescue them. After all, he had been trained to respond to and handle dangerous emergencies, although the walking undead were probably well above his paygrade. Still, at the very least he might've known who to get help from or what to do, both of which their makeshift, merry band of survivors were in dire need of.

As Jess tapped the messenger app, however, her hopes of any potential rescue began to shatter before her own eyes. It had been some time since either parent responded in the family's group chat, and the only recent messages had still been Jess' unanswered wall of text that she had generated over the last few days of quarantine lockdown. Would they even see this message? Would she and her classmates still be alive by the time they did?

Jess didn't know. She didn't even know how bad, if at all, it was outside the school. But, fuck, she didn't know exactly what to do right now either. If anything at least sounded worth a shot, it had to be this.

Jess:
everyone has gone crazy. people are eating each other

Jess:
trapped in a classroom with some others. we're unable to leave. please send help

Blankly staring at the messenger screen, Jess paused before quickly typing one more message onto her phone.

Jess:
i miss you guys

Sliding her phone back into her pocket, Jess wondered if her parents would even believe her. To the average person, zombies simply didn't exist. Anyone with a rational train of thought would have easily taken her with a grain of salt as if she was instead talking about a movie or some survival horror game. Jess would've been among them, but that had been before she saw her teachers and classmates being violently ripped to shreds by those very same fictional creatures. Hopefully, if her parents did receive her message, they'd at least take concern to what sounded more like a joke text, if anything.

Yet even with that miniscule shred of hope, Jess still had her doubts. Very strong doubts. Her parents hadn't responded then, so who knew if they were going to respond now that they were actively in need of help during an emergency.

"I'd imagine it means that those who got out have managed to hide," Jess responded, finally looking up at the others now that someone had broken the silence. "Or that everyone else got ripped apart."

That probably hadn't been best choice of words to use, but Jess was beyond caring and desired to speak realistically.

"And unless we intend to join them, we're going to need a way out. Any ideas?"

"I-I'm fine. Been through worse." Anni stammered out in response to Ivy's concerns. Still, no matter how convincing she tried to be, there was a clear hesitance in her voice; that she hadn't been entirely telling the truth. Her body hurt like hell, and walking on her own two feet seemed like an impossible feat right now. She definitely wasn't okay by any means, as Ivy had noticed seconds earlier.

Despite that, however, Anni knew she needed to press on through the pain. Not only for her own sake, but also for her former classmates'. They needed get out of this together, and in one piece. Thankfully, she was able to breathe a sigh of relief as her prayers were soon answered. Hanna was breathing. She was alive.

Yet just as Anni thought they had a chance to recuperate, the night began to take a "supernatural" turn once more.

"Look, I don't know what the fuck is going on," Anni exclaimed, clearly freaked out by the fact that Ivy's eyes were actively glowing, albeit momentarily. The sound of approaching sirens added even more urgency to her voice. "But I'm not sticking around to find out."

Looking around, Anni tried to spot CJ or Lucas in the darkness. She hadn't seen them yet, and they couldn't leave them behind. Before she could see either of them, however, Lucas called out from the shadows. Apparently they must've made it to the car, at least from the direction of his voice.

Anni glanced at the other women. On top of her own injuries, her peers all had their own varying painful wounds to deal with. Jack's leg looked horrible. Hanna seemed to be struggling with her own wounds. And Ivy? Hell if Anni even had a clue as to what was wrong with her.

By appearances, however, Ivy probably could walk out on her own, while Jack might need some help getting out of here. But Hanna? Were they supposed to lift Hanna to safety? Or were they not supposed to move her, just in case she had some unknown injury they weren't aware of? Anni had no idea how to proceed, save for getting the fuck out of here. After all, she wasn't some paramedic ready to treat people who had just somehow survived an explosion.

"U-Uh... Fuck, I don't know! Maybe? Probably?!" She shouted back at Lucas, hoping that he might have a clue as to what to do. Or Jack. Or CJ. Or Hanna. Or Ivy. Fucking someone, for Christ's sake.

First Class #2.83 On An All-New Episode of Gossip Goose...

Interaction(s): Alyssa @Lord Wraith
Previously: Early Bird Gets the Worm

Sleeping in was a foreign concept to Suzie. She had long grown used to the early Alaskan sunrise, having grown up with longer sunlit days than the rest of the country. With the family business often requiring early wake-up calls as well, it would've likely taken something akin to a miracle for her to not be up and ready for whatever came that day.

That said, Suzie would've much preferred a cup of cowboy coffee over a mug of tea.

As Suzie reached out to shake Alyssa's hand, an uncomfortable smile curled its way upon her lips. S-u-z-a-n-n-a. It had been her actual name, so the girl hadn't been in the wrong to use it. Yet regardless, the word itself was like tiny knives, each letter stabbing Suzie in the heart. It was old-fashioned, and made her feel ancient, as if she was an elderly woman from the 50's or some other long-forgotten decade. Which, to be fair, was probably because it had been her great-grandmother's name in the first place. She may have loved her great-grandmother dearly, but the name Suzanna definitely should've stayed a name of the past.

"Suzie. Or Suz." Suzie replied, perhaps a bit curtly. She had held every ounce of willpower in to not make a big scene, hoping to avoid the wrath of their team representatives."Suzanna was my great-grandmother's name. Suffice to say, I'm not her."

Suzie sighed. She was going to have to correct everyone she met, wasn't she? It had been all thanks to A-Aron over there, her brand new "team representative" as per her H.E.A.T. enrollment.

"That being said, I guess I just felt there were places I could do better." She continued. "With everything that has happened."

It may have only been a gut feeling as of now, but the feeling was there nonetheless. Suzie had no interest in the H.E.A.T. program, at least originally. She simply wanted to continue her studies at Pacific Royal as they were. But then Hyperion attacked the school, and people either got hurt or lost their lives. She hadn't a bone to pick with Hyperion, but the incident had awoke something inside Suzie. Old memories resurfaced, and the nightmare forced itself back into her head. She may have not been able to help her family that day, but she could at least help stop similar loss from ever happening again by assisting H.E.A.T. in their mission.

By then, however, the prior uncomfortableness Suzie felt had faded. She may have been slighted just moments ago, but Alyssa had unknowingly walked into a trap as she spoke of training. Playfully teasing her would be fun.

"Though, I can't imagine needing a practical environment to talk to animals. I already hear plenty of dirty secrets from them on the regular. Some of it is absolutely bewildering, you know?"

Suzie grinned mischievously, waiting to see what her teammate's reaction would be.
