A moment after things calmed down, well calmed down more than they had been she stood up straight and glanced around. "Well wasn't that a fucking adventure...." she muttered under her breath before looking back at the detective. Nodding she grabbed the gurney and rolled it back down towards the ambulance. Hauling it inside before shutting the door and having a seat next to him on the bench within. Taking a deep breath she wiped her face with the back of her hand before cracking her knuckles and looking at him once again.

"Yeah, I'll do some here and then get you back to the burn unit at the hospital," she said as she got to work cutting away what remained of the seared garment to expose his skin. It was horrible but she guessed it could have been worse, he could be dead. Granted some with such burns might wish they were instead. The pain would last, burns could plague people for years, nerve damage caused by the burns could last a life time. Then there was the physical appearance and mental trauma.

Once he was patched up enough she secured the gurney and climbed into the front of the ambulance. Pushing the safety glass that had been blown away out of the seat she was glad to see the paramedic had left the keys. She tried to start it and it didn't at first butt a little gas and a few more times the engine roared to life. Hitting the gas she drove cautiously back towards the hospital.

Danica looked up suspiciously as she heard a knock at her door, she wasn't expecting anyone and with everything that had happened she was not taking any uninvited guests well. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out her pocket knife and clicked it open as the door opened. Seeing the woman with the tea her eyes widened. "What in the hell kind of place is this? I didn't order any tea. It is the middle of the night and you just walk into a room that was locked?" she snapped as she stood up, the woman prattling on about a damn dog and people.

Walking, or more like storming to the door she grabbed the knob and pointed outside. "You are lucky I didn't stab you after the shit I have seen today. Get the fuck out!" she demanded as she stood there. "And don't say another word. You want to ramble on, go do it elsewhere! I am paying for a room; not tea, not company, not a dog barking at my door but at least he has more manners than you. He at least barked and waited for me to open the door instead of just waltzing in. The dog is welcome at his point, you are not. Now, get out!" she said snatching the door open and whistling.

"Come on pooch! Get her out of here and you can have the other bed for the night," she said as her eyes narrowed and she looked back over towards the woman who was Mrs. Hudson. (Granted she didn't know her name and really didn't care at that point.) Looking out the door as she felt something cut through the air she shook her head, that couldn't have been good.

Type Of RP: This is a period mystery drama. It will have a lot of twists and turns. There will be clues given in posts that you can keep track of to help solve the mysteries as they unfold. Now, something very important - CHARACTERS CAN AND WILL DIE! This will be done randomly when events arise. It can happen to anyone at anytime without warning. You have been warned and I suggest a back up character to pull into the fray if that happens.
Goal Of RP: The actual goal of the RP is not just to Rp but to actually solve the case. You as the Rper collect anything you see placed in posts as your clues and keep track of them. When you think you know you will submit it to the GM via PM - As each case is solved, more will unfold and new chapters will spring forth. (More details are listed below)
Age Requirements: Minimal age for characters is 21, Max age is 70.

Premise

It is the year 1924 and the Tutankhamen craze has taken the world by storm. Ever since the discovery and opening of King Tut's Tomb within the Valley of the Kings the world's eye has been watching Egypt as if it was the Eye of Ra itself. From clothing to home decor; everything seems to be touched by the madness that has sprung up because of the discovery KV62 brought the world thanks to the archaeologist Howard Carter on November 26th, 1922.

With a new discovery though means the seal to the past has been broken. Since that day a weird slew of mysteries has begun to take over not only the Valley Of The Kings but Cairo, as well as other locations in the world. It is said to have begun the very night the tomb was opened when Egyptologist James Breasted came home to find his canary gone and in its place a Royal Cobra whom had eaten it. The Royal Cobra was the symbol of the Egyptian Monarchy and from there the curse of the Pharaoh grew. Pets and illnesses were not the limit of Gods wrath, Death was on the menu.

One such is the death of the financial backer of Carters excavation; Lord Carnarvon. Dying under mysterious circumstances on April 5th, 1923. He died in the Grand Continental Hotel after what appeared to be a mosquito bite that became infected after it was cut while he was shaving on March 19th of the same year. A long death which to some attribute to being involved with the desecration of Tutankhamens Tomb; but we don't believe in all the silly blather about a mummy's curse do we?

What if I were to tell you that he was not the last to die after being in or near the tomb? What about George Gould, the railroad tycoon that visited the tomb then died on the French Riviera suddenly from a fever that came out of nowhere? How about Prince Bey who was shot by his wife suddenly? What about Colonel Herbert, Lord Carnarvon's half brother, who was blinded and died of blood poisoning less than a year after the tomb was opened? Then there was Sir Douglas-Reid who X-Rayed the boy king and died of a mysterious illness just earlier this year.

And then we have what happened on the day of June 14th of this year. Over in England at Beacon Hill we have had a grave robbing. The resting place of Lord Carnarvon in Burghclere, Hampshire has been dug up and his wife Almina reported that nothing was taken but one item. An Udjtat was stolen from around the neck of her now deceased husbands neck; one he had acquired even before he opened the tomb of the King. Seems that more and more is going missing and the rumors are flying.

Our story begins in Cairo. Vera Munn, the niece of Lord Carnorvon, is working at the Egyptian Museum thanks to the curator feeling as if he owes her uncle a favor. Vera is in search of the truth behind her uncles death. She doesn't believe in fairy-tales and hokum; she believes if she can see it and touch it then it is real. That doesn't stop her fascination with the ancient world of Egypt but she wants to know who robed her uncles resting place and why he died.

Now, why are you in Cairo? Are you just another treasure hunter hoping to cash in on the craze? Have you been sent by another country to investigate the death of perhaps someone of high rank? Do you wish to stop the opening of more tombs and the loss of Egypt's wealth to foreigners? Perhaps you are a simple tour guide just enjoying the influx of currency to the region. Either way it does not matter. Like the Sands of Time being drawn through the hour glass you and others will be pulled into this story and be a part of how it unfolds. Each of you have been plagued by a vision, a dream of a single item. Egypt is calling you my lovelies and adventure awaits.

Quick Note

Many of the images and background for this RP are based in factual history. Names, places, maps, even images are heavily sprinkled with truth, in fact some of it is right out of a History Books and The Library of Congress. That being said - please remember the following - This is not "Earth." This is the Lady A Universe, so while much might be based on fact - I am pulling a "rewriting it to be what I need for the story" moment - You know, like the actual history channel does. Personal Style: Vera does not seem to worry about how she looks, more interested in what she knows. She tends to wear clothing that is a bit mannish in all honesty; opting for jodhpurs and oversized cardigans at times or just large dress shirts and a lower shin length simple skirt. Fashion is not a concern of hers but she will adorn the local wear from time to time when she feels like it.

While an attractive woman to some she tones down her looks because of her clothing, though not intentionally. It just doesn't concern her. Form and function. Her hair is usually kept pulled back with wisps of uncontrolled curls around her face or just left long down to the center of her back. She does wear make up but it is minimal; the most evident being the eye liner she will sometimes wear in small homage to her Egyptian heritage. (Because I mean come on, who doesn't love that look in the 1920's Egypt?)

Personality: Vera is a kind spirit who loves what she loves; Egypt. She is very devoted to her family and would be to her friends if she had any. She tries to find the good in situations but it not naive enough to believe that everyone has good within them. Relentless in her pursuits she is extremely passionate and enthusiastic when it comes to history, research, and artifacts. Perhaps she would be this way with people as well but she has little contact with them other than what is required from day to day.

A bit of a loner, she keeps to herself but much of that is because her nose is either in a book or because she is a bit of a klutz and tends to cause situations without even knowing it until it is too late. While very confidant in her abilities and her knowledge, she can be skittish at times and will cower back until forced with no other option than to deal with a situation personally. It is not that she is a coward, she just know where her skills lay and combat is not one of them. Her words are her sword and armor but she is well aware that a blade can pierce through them if she is not careful.

She is rather logical and resourceful when it comes to thing, trying to think outside the box if she can in situations and she never turns down a chance to actually get into the field and work hands on despite her fears. While not an Atheist she does not believe in fairy tales as she called them; she believes if she can see it and touch it, then it is real. Until that moment it is still up for debate.

History

What Brings You To Cairo: Vera had always been intrigued, if not completely obsessed, with Egypt since she was a small girl. When Carter, who was funded by her uncle, was growing close to what he felt was a discovery she pleaded with her Uncle to let her join him in Egypt. He agreed and she was on her way; taking a job at the Egyptian Museum.

Life Before You Moved To Cairo: Vera was born in London England. Her father was an archeologist and her mother was an Egyptian that he met on a dig in Thebes. She grew up with a simple life in London, going to school and her parents indulging her every desire to learn more about her mothers native land; making sure she could speak both her parents languages fluently as she grew up. Vera adored every moment of it, her nose usually in a book than doing anything else.

Her parents preferred it that way, she was never a graceful child. Seemingly always a clutz on some level but they could never be sure if that was just because she had two left feet or simply the effect of her having said nose in a book as she walked and never paying attention to anything else going on around her. Either way, she learned the basics - Riding, Swimming - but other than that she spent her time either in school or studying Egypt on her own.

When she was in her first year at Whitelands College, studying to be a teacher, her parents were killed in a plane crash on their way back from Egypt on Holiday. Vera was crushed but her uncle quickly took her under his wing and ensured that she finished her education. She took a job teaching after college but was never satisfied with it. She wanted to be in the field. It wasn't until later on when her uncle finally agreed, that she would be able to leave England and peruse something closer to where her passion lay; Egypt.

Life Since You Moved To Cairo: It has been interesting to say the least. She was privileged to be one of the first to see within KV62 and all the wonders it held. When her uncle died though things changed. It didn't stop her love of Egypt, in fact it fueled it. She wanted and still wants to prove that it wasn't some silly curse that took her uncle from this world but hard facts and science. Yet being a woman provides many limitations even if her uncle made sure she was financially secure before he passed. She has continued to work for the museum since then, trying to figure out just exactly what did happen. Thankfully the curator feels like he owes her uncle and keeps her on staff. (Otherwise she would have been fired for being a clutz the day the man died.)
