While I’m sure the GM’s have already discussed what I’m about to go over, I feel it needs to be discussed publicly. Namely, what were the requirements to win? In my mind that was getting all the relics which, if I recall correctly, we did. Therefore I find it unfair that our ultimate outcome is failure.

Were there secondary objectives we missed? Probably, and because of that I’m fine with our victory coming at an enormous loss. But in the grand scheme if the primary objective was achieved then an ending where the evil was not defeated should not be the character’s fates. But I could be wrong. My memory is only so good and with how far apart our posts are I could have easily missed or forgot something. If that is the case then I'll shut up and watch the world burn with you guys.

This is the only problem I have with the sudden end however. As pointed out interest in this RP is all but gone and there is really no reason to keep it going if it's so we can be done with it.

Ultimately I think ending it is a smart choice but how it ends is the GM’s decision. If they want to change the ending to be a bit better cool. If not and all the characters are going to die in defeat, oh well. It sucks but clearly we've already moved on or stopped caring.

We are not rewarding a lack of interest by slapping on a happy ending, though if it alleviates some burden from your minds, it isn't so cut and dry as 'Everyone Dies, the end.'

What you fail to grasp is that interest and initiative are objectives in their own right. If Luke learned how to use the Force from Master Yoda, then decided screw it I don't need to do anything cause I already have everything I need, then there wouldn't have been much of a conclusion. As I said, all the pieces are there but they will never get put together as things are.

As I said, I am disappointed, but not surprised. Ultimately it makes me feel like this RP was an incredible waste of time because nothing that anyone did will actually end up mattering, and even my guy contributes to that (he still has a Relic they can track after all). And I know how much you enjoy watching people suffer. I just seem fine because you've already made it clear I shouldn't expect a better outcome.

@TheWindel

To be frank, I'm disappointed that we couldn't achieve the "Good Ending" but I understand that you want to end the RP. I kinda want to know what we could've done different but whatever.

Know that you aren't the only ones disappointed. The GMs have not made this decision lightly, but ultimately, we have lost as much interest as others have in this RP. It's an incessant struggle to get people to post twice a month and even more so for it to be a post that matters at all.

If there was any hope for a Good Ending, it would have come from RPers making their posts in a timely manner. It would have come from everyone cooperating to push the story we provide forward. When it comes to the point where we feel as though we are dragging everyone by the heels, the RP is dead in the water.

There is no Happily Ever After because it was not fought for. What has been accomplished isn't enough and it is plain to see that we will never have seen it accomplished if we waited another year. Interest has dried up. Frustration has burnt out, and in the end, we are too disappointed to continue knowing that continued inaction will just drag this out further.

Shattering will conclude because no one wanted to put the effort into piecing things together, and for that, we can all be left with nothing but disappointment and lessons learned.
@KoL

When you say "Bad End it" does that mean we're getting the Bad Ending? Were we supposed to collect more gems to unlock the better endings?

We are saying this is a Bad End in the fashion of visual novels, where most any ending before the main would be called a Bad End. There is no more interest in continuing the RP, so it will have to come to a conclusion sooner then expected. Since this means no one will be confronting a great antagonistic figure and saving the day, then this is a Bad End.
Richard Montag - Babylonia

It should have been expected that Servants would have egos befitting legendary figures, and Richard had just prodded one when he realized that the feline Archer was now standing beside him atop the battlements. He figured after her previous outburst with the former Princess of Colchis that there was lingering animosity towards the Caster class, or maybe he just offended her professional sensibility.

I'd best walk on egg shells then. He thought even as his eyes turned to briefly admire the virgin huntress' form. Richard hadn't the foggiest clue about archery beyond hazy childhood dalliances that rarely found their target, though seeing Atalanta release her noble phantasm was a sight soon to be burned into his memory. His gaze was one of appreciation for the hard fought physical prowess she possessed, and understanding that an Archer was the very ideal of perceptive, he hoped she didn't take it for something more lecherous in intent.

"Excuse me for being discourteous, Archer." Richard offered in pre-emptive apology, only to quirk his head to the side as he heard the voice of Assassin relaying opportune information about an enemy of some importance. "Allow me to make it up to you with a target worthy of your enmity. Assassin has located someone who bears all the hall marks of a commander who is fabricating these golems and would be appreciative if you could remove him."

Richard relayed the coordinates as Jekyll had told him and waited to see if she could spare an arrow away from the mob of monsters.

Tamamo No Mae - Scandinavia

"W-W-Wedding gown?! No, no, no, no, Master! You are supposed to be the husband here...though you would look-" The fox eared witch promptly shut her mouth when she felt her cheeks burn a bright red and knew her lips would have spoken horribly embarrassing things not meant for public consumption. She set her master down and turned away to face the pack of beasts now emerging from the fog to hunt. This afforded Seyrun and the guard's a prime view of the fox's furiously wagging tail, which Tamamo could only hope would be ignored in the face of imminent danger just as she was hoping to distract herself in kind.

"Come on you mange ridden beasts. This fox will not be the prey of such lowly hounds!" Everyone was launching there attacks into the infernal beasts, and Tamamo was not to be left behind. A single spell tag formed in her hand and was thrown towards the pack, yet rather then those that came before, this lacked the tell tale signs of explosive fire. Having already seen that those around her commanded ample flame to burn a small nation, the Caster opted to add fuel upon their impending conflagration with a tag aimed for the rear of the group. It whistled past Nevsky's mounted charge and Walgrave's focused Magecraft to detonate upon the last wolves of the pack.

And where once there was a slip of paper now bellowed forth a whirling column of wind, cutting off an easy avenue of retreat for the hit-and-run attackers as it sucked in those near and drew them skywards.

Margarita Reynard - Scandinavia

"Did Primate Murder have puppies?!" The aged enforcer exclaimed upon seeing the sheer size of the beasts barreling towards them. Certainly more of an issue to deal with then the dead, that was a certainty she rued. To the Servants it may have been a worthy challenge for them to sink their teeth into, but Magi were poorly equipped for beasts of that magnitude and number.

Her concern was amplified when Edeltaud thought to open the engagement by attempting to split the wolves down the middle. By their very nature wolves had a tendency to surround their prey, so forcing them to separate was only going to facilitate that behavior and make it difficult to bombard them en-masse.

Hmm, I can't really chastise Caster for not instilling a sense of tactics into her creation. Edel may as well be a Berserker class. Margarita's features hardened into a deep scowl, contemplating the well worn lines of her face as though this were her natural countenance. What she lacked in flame or sword she could compensate for in ranged support, and at the moment that was the only role fitting for a Master. Raising Fox & Hound towards the oncoming force, she shifted herself to the left of the group and fired a startlingly fast barrage of condensed ether upon the same flank of the advancing wolves. Given everyone was charging forward or staring back on level ground, it would be rather difficult to fire head on without shooting an ally in the back.

"Caster, get your butler to attack the other side and leave the middle for Rider."

Sorry for the wait. I'll post tomorrow.

If things go as planned he'll be at low hp, probably around a third.

Is this plan why Blue Nova didn't react to the tank shell that was fired at him? I don't want to make an accusation of foul play to wait out a cool down timer, but unless you missed a literal tank shell fired on you, I would appreciate a response that acknowledges events.

@KoL Hey, can I get Icy Mint's details again? I just wanna check the skill description.

Here is Mint's CS. I had KoL pull it up when I posted: imgur.com/u7wznUN

Well I'm certainly not going to force you. I'll just be over here, planning out a hostile takeover of the Blue Guild that will probably not come close to actually working. :P

Considering the Blues are crushed and in total disarray with their King now defunct, You have better odds then you think, assuming you get past Yuuno. Otherwise It's wholly viable to just loot the Blue City and its territories now that most the Bruisers are dead and on a 24 IC hour respawn timer.

Broker Of Fortune

"Hah! Can't seem to dodge that, now can you?" It was a bit early to gloat, and Broker well knew it. That it only winged him with such a large spread could be chalked up to the randomness of buck shot, but it wouldn't due to assume Blue Nova's speed wasn't in play as well. "I don't have time for this. There is all of the Bruiser's garages to loot through and I'm not going to miss out just because of a speedster with a shield spell. Mint, I need you in the game here."

The hereto silent passenger aboard the tank blinked, surprised that the driver was looking for her services before nodding in assent. She stuffed the gifted bomb into her inventory, as you never know when such a Control oriented spell caster would need a bit of burst damage, and focused upon the streak of blue now breaking cover.

"Icy Lullaby." The mage said, casting her wide area sleep spell upon Blue Nova to render him immobile and defenseless, an easy target for the King Tiger once it cycled back to its HE rounds and fired upon the sleeping Bruisers. Between the guaranteed critical hit provided by Icy Lullaby and Broker's Overhaul conferring 50% bonus damage, both Masks were certain of the outcome.

@Lord of Evil @KoL
@Lonewolf685 Well, one of my questions I still have is why Monkey is in any way shape or form necessary for the plot to continue, necessitating the trapping of her in order to keep the plot moving. Presuming she had escaped, via some clever trick rather than raw power, what exactly would that have messed up?

Because if she escaped without Alex, she would be isolated from everything going on and require us to find some new way to make her relevant for the plot. You yourself said you wanted to get in on Alex's heist because it was the most interesting. If you ran now, then you'd miss out on it.

And yes, before you ask, it is still somewhat feasible she meets with Si's group after escaping-though I'm not too clear the path for them myself-, but that is an extra series of events that would need to be conceived rather then remain in the plot line where she is.

The understanding that there would have been a time skip for Alex to work things out came from two sources. The first was that due to the length of time that he had been away on his side trip with Tori (IC time, not OOC time, It was hardly a weekend jaunt), he would need to take stock of the city and actually locate something to go heist like the supply shipment that had been the initial target as we discussed.

The other source was the mere fact that even if he had had a target in mind on returning to the Capital, he hadn't had the time to plan anything because Zealot showed up almost immediately upon him getting back, So he'd need a bit to come up with an initial plan for how the heist would work, even if it fell apart later. After that, potentially collect some supplies, though that probably could have been cut out without any real problems.

Otherwise I guess there could have just been one big cut to the heist with all that offscreen, but it wouldn't exactly help the time issues involved.

He could have had the heist planned out before he left on the Arcadia trip and just went to carry it out in a rush. Have supplies stashed elsewhere to carry out his plan.
