Called into action - by threats that seem harmonized

Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Still planning on posting today? I'll wait on you if so.

And for the record, as my sporadic posting has attested I'm perfectly fine with this RP advancing at a slow pace. One post every week or two is enough from each person.

Yes, indeed. I have just finished some work and will begin very shortly.
Though I have been pretty busy, this has been admittedly neglected by me as low on my priorities. Tomorrow you can expect me to contribute once again.

I do not hesitate to confess that the unreliable method of replying only when called out has been wholly adopted by me in regards to this RP. You guys really do deserve more from me, and for that I apologize. Despite this, I am sure I'm not the only one struggling to get hyped for this RP anymore.

Personally, I don't care what you do with my character. My only request be that, if you use him as an opponent, he is 100% human and can still be on par with whatever other boss monsters come after him. That is: no magic, no machines, no transformations, nothing demonic, nothing divine, nothing that can be construed as supernatural.

That seems like a contradiction, but I'll see what I can do. Take care.
Hey. I decided this game wasn't fun enough for me. Mind if I just bailed? I'd prefer my character be killed off as opposed to taken over.

Regrettable that it's come to this. So long. Are you against him reappearing as an opponent or something down the line?
@Lugubrious@Sho Minazuki Wait, so now I'm confused as to what just happened with Akoni. I was just in a "library" with Kosara and some bird creature squatting there. Now all of a sudden Akoni is with a completely different group in an actually respectable library as part of an unofficial mission? There wasn't any kind of transition, what just happened? D:

The transition is for us to decide. I explained that the missions started in the morning, so in a post you can say what happened overnight if you so choose.

That said, I did not get the impression that we would immediately be in the mission location. I thought we would gather in the meeting room or World Tree room first or something.

The birdlike being before Kosara and Akoni shrugged nonchalantly when the latter demanded an answer from him. Neither the half-demon nor the human sorcerer ruffled his feathers, though their arrival marked the first non-Watcher presence Eeliot remembered in years. Twiddling the fingers of one hand, he bemoaned, “Alas, there is nobody to love them. I, as their sovereign, may do with them whatever I please! Though wouldn’t it be just fantastic if things were all nice and orderly? Someone should get on that.” Eeliot rose to his talons, coming to a head shorter than Akoni, and his eyes showed the smile that his rigid beak did not. “Hey, how’s the weather up there?” Making a show of looking up at him, the self-proclaimed King of Knowledge circled around toward a table. On it lay a multi-pack of juice boxes, absurd in their normalcy, and from which Eeliot selected one. Either not caring or not remembering the visitors, he pecked a hole in his juice box before sticking his beak inside to drink. Finally, Kosara’s question regained his attention. “Find books?” he mumbled into his juice box before slurping and licking his beak. “Ah! Scrumptious. Anyway, you find books in a bookstore. Or a house. We don’t have any here though. Terrible luck! And it’s so far to the Third Kingdom…”

If anything, Panoptos expected Wrath’s Firebrand form to be released with an explosion and surrounded at all times with a blazing firestorm. Instead, the Nephilim surprised him by keeping a very firm grip on his powered-up form, and then by physically massaging the inert Molten Core thereafter. Oh, dear. Looks like he took me a bit too literally. Say, maybe that’s something I can use. Out loud, the great Watcher commented, ”That was just a turn of phrase, you know. A good charbroil would work better than patting it down.” That said, the transformed body of Wrath positively beat with heat. The air itself distorted for several centimeters around the lit parts of him, and even the red or brown stone seemed apt to permanently burn an unwise hand. Wrath’s efforts began to show in the core; the black dust clogging its arteries like fatty plaque visibly heated up, sparking like fireside embers.

The arrival of Kyle soonafter, accompanied by a servant Watcher, drew Panoptos’ attention. He watched as the cyborg, coaxed by his companion, transformed in a fearsome industrial blaze into a monster part magma and part metal. Perhaps even more so than Wrath, Kyle radiated intimidation and fortitude. By Panoptos’ estimation, only the strongest of blunt weapons would be able to crack that exoskeleton; any sort of cutting edge would merely slide off if it did not break or melt immediately. He called, ”Yes, yes, we’re all very proud of doing the thing everyone can do. Get over here and kickstart this heart, would you? The savage has been keeping it warm for you.”

With two firebrands working on it, the Molten Core did not take long at all to blaze to life. Its first beat resounded through the dungeon, afterward becoming a rhythmic undertone, and magically-charged lava flowed through the great transparent veins to every room in the place, providing light for the citadel’s new tenants and power for the various machines littering its halls.

”Well! Looks like the blessing worked at least. Enjoy the heat while it lasts,” Panoptos told the two, who were both no longer transformed and most likely exhausted. ”Your first mission starts in less than eight hours, I’ll bet. Find some corner in the castle to call your own. The Watchers can fetch basic furnishings for you if stone floor’s not to your taste. So long!” After a patronizing bow he floated off.
Cormorant Sanders – Frenzy Plant Stands

@Zarkun

Both during Damian’s approach and for a few seconds after his arrival but before he spoke, the leader of Frenzy Plant remained fixated on the match currently underway. The magic and ability of the country’s finest wizards captured the imagination of young and old alike; Sanders, in particular, enjoyed learning what he could about sorcery. Every duel impressed him in its own way, but even as the general observed, he did not file away each spark, strike, and stance like some supercomputer, bent on analyzing each competitor for the sake of future victory. He enjoyed the spectacle and the talent for what they were worth, and in some cases felt sorrow that such talents went to waste in service of lesser causes.

He noticed Damian soon enough, however, and switched from casual to professional mode on a dime when he did so. He allowed neither malice nor cordiality to find a home on his features. Promptly he replied, ”That is the right choice. If you’re serious, apologize like a person to everyone you feel you’ve wronged, so they can see you’re more than a living weapon. Don’t make it anything public or special. What’s really remarkable is that three days of thinking have gone by before you came to this conclusion. Three days is a long time for insults and challenges to sink in, and stain permanently, be they from you or your master. Before you make any apologies, however, I ask you this: what exactly has my guild misunderstood about you?”

Nero the Genie – Infirmary

@oblivion666

Sagelike, the dark mage absorbed every ounce of what excuses, explanations, and artful dodges Malice could make. His veneer of venerability nearly veered into vexation when she voiced her eventual goal of becoming a Wizard Saint. Before pursuing that, however, he spared a sidelong glance at Zephyr. ”Candyhead’s fallen in love, has he? True love is, I find, like a brick: either it hits you like one, or you’re dumber than one for thinkin’ it’s there when it isn’t.”

A blankness settled over his face. In his eagerness to dis Zephyr he forgot about the Wizard Saint business. Shrugging, he opted to instead address Malice’s inquiry. ”I ask because I care, my good miss. If you’re inclined, I do have a sort of guildy thingie in the works. An independent guild, three strong. Me, Eve, and Aya. We’re a ragtag buncha misfits but we’re gonna do some serious good for people. You’d fit right in.”
Update made.

Beneath the crushing force of a burly teenager’s boot, the door to the room of Mar Millade slammed open. Instantly the dual mysteries surrounding the room, presented in the forms of sound and scent, were solved. First and foremost, the tiny apartment appeared to have a nonstandard –not to mention sporadic- paint job, done in brownish-burgundy. No source of the fluid used could be seen, but a fair amount of it lay around the remaining fragments of the broken window. A look straight down from the shattered aperture revealed the outline of a body in the mud below, though one too small and apelike to be human. An astute eye would reveal more rivulets of dried blood drawn like streaks of rain down the side of the building, indicating that whomever ruptured the window gained the roof. A clawed-open airduct in the room offered an easy hint as to why someone might want to vacate their supposed safe haven swiftly. At that point, noises could be heard from inside Moss's unopened room, elicited by Benjamin's clamor.

Vague expectations had filled Ivor’s mind as he entered the cafeteria. As odd as the scantily-clad Faunus and gray-obsessed fellow appeared, he imagined that they might have come with a regular paramedic team in tow. He certainly did not expect to find a pair of young women in various stages of undress huddled around two of his co=workers. For a moment his wit abandoned him, leaving him wearing an expression of mixed surprise, amusement, and admiration. Soon thereafter, however, the keen programmer offered his two cents. “If this is how an average rescue team works nowadays, I should nearly die more often.” He seated himself on a cafeteria bench with his back against the table, and reclined. “Gray-haired guy sent me over. I’d be glad to help any way I can. Oh, I know! While you’re busy, I’ll keep watch.” This could, of course, not help but strike a paradoxical note given the constantly near-shut state of his eyes.

-meanwhile-

Bent on following the directions of her team leader and contributing to the operation’s success, Cian in her haste rushed across the storage room toward where the survivors allegedly were to take up a defensive position. She did not, apparently, take much notice of the solid steel door that separated her from the control room in which the survivors held up. Through a small peephole one of the refugees watched Cian turn her back to him and the rest, setting up a shield with which she would valiantly protect the door. The lad furrowed his brows in consternation, and despairingly asked those near him, “What the heck? Are these guys here to help us or not? None of the monsters even scratched our door but this girl’s hunkering down to protect it. Why doesn’t she let us out already?”

He pressed his nose against the glass, strands of blue hair splayed in every direction. The other survivors closed their ears, remembering the boy’s prodigious lungs. “Hey!” His shout bounced off the walls. “Fighter girl! Let! Us! Out!” After a deceptive moment, he belted out an afterthought. “Priscilla! Took! Keycard!”

While this went down, the damaged barrel almost certainly containing a human sat, ignored, in the refinery room. At the very least the no-doubt terrified and uncomfortable hider within would not suffocate to death, given the rends in the drum’s metal, but thirst would be just as bad a way to go if the remaining two members of JCL did not cease their ruminating and start saving.
@Lugubrious I think I'm just waiting on you, mate.

That is true. Now that my schedule is free, I have three RPs I have to post on today. I'll get to work.
