Atlanta, Georgia: September 9th, 2020 - 11:00 PM

The Mutant Underground had cells all over the country, located in just about each and every major city. So many of their leaders had been handpicked by the founders of the organization: Professor X, Erg, and Evangeline Whedon. The leadership of the Atlanta station had been selected by the only female founder. Her choice had been a bit controversial at first: Lorna Dane, better known to the world at large as Polaris, Mistress of Magnetism, daughter of Magneto. Her second in command was the legendary Thunderbird.

Polaris sat in an empty booth of Stan and Joan's Legendary Diner, not too far away from the outskirts of Atlanta. The locks on the door had been undone with her magnetic powers. She was dressed in primarily black, a leather jacket with metallic spikes that matched the cuffs she wore on her wrists. Her shocking natural green hair was complimented with a headband crafted from the very same material as Magneto's helmet, preventing telepaths from gaining access to Polaris' mind as long as she wore it.

The lights in the diner burst.

Polaris rolled her eyes slightly, seeing the menacing outline in the dark: a figure cloaked in scarlet, wearing his signature helmet. "Must you always wear that stupid cape?" Polaris asked, not even flinching as the figure stepped out of the shadows. The lights of the parking lot just barely illuminated her father's sinister face.

"You didn't call me here to criticize an old man's fashion choices, daughter." He took a seat across from her at the booth, setting his gloved hands down in front of him as he looked at her with curiosity. "Of all my children... You are the only one I am truly proud of. Whereas Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Plasma lack conviction, your soul is steel, forged in the fires of adversity."

"Did you come alone?" Polaris asked, ignoring his compliments. She had fallen for her father's tricks before and she was not about to repeat those mistakes. Her headband was a precaution.

"Do you mean whether or not Mastermind is here?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Is he?" Polaris pressed.

He shook his head. "No, he is not... You have nothing to fear from him, daughter. He would never dare to hurt you."

She snorted, leaning back in the booth and then shifting, propping one of her legs up on the seat so that way she was in a partially crouched position. And despite her father's assurances, her headband remained firmly on her green locks. "You mean he wouldn't dare to hurt me unless you ordered him to, Father. Or are you finally become so old even your memory has failed you?"

"Enough games," Magneto commanded. "Tell me why you asked me to come here, daughter."

"And here I thought I was your favorite..." she muttered under her breath, but her eyes never left her father's face. Even though they were family, she didn't doubt that he would not hesitate to strike her down if he thought it would be advantageous. Every conversation with her father was a game of chess. "I want you to offer me something, Father."

He raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be?"

"A seat at the table of the Hellfire Club," she said succinctly. "And then, I am going to help you build it."

"Oh? And what is it we are supposedly building, my dear?"

Polaris sighed. "Don't play dumb - it's not a good look on you. You and I both know that the Hellfire Club purchased an island near Madagascar called Genosha."

"...How do you know about Genosha, daughter?"

Polaris smirked slightly. "You're not the only one with spies, Father."
Washington D.C.: September 10th, 2020 - 8:50 AM

It was early in the morning and almost each leader of the Inner Circle was present - all except for the Black Queen, Reeva, who had to get an even earlier start to her day and handle some pressing matters for their plans. She had taken Sage and Fade with her, leaving the Three-in-One behind to assist Ethos, Jinx, and Requiem on their mission that day. Of course, there was one person who would stand out more than post. She was wearing a sleek black outfit, primarily crafted from leather, and a green metallic headband sat on top of her vibrant green locks.

"Erik - fancy seeing you around here," Shaw smirked, making himself a whiskey at the bar. The servants had managed to clean up and repair all of the damage overnight, leaving no indication as to the brawl that had happened before. "And my oh my, just who is this little princess with you?"

Magneto glared at Shaw slightly. "This is my daughter, Sebastian," he warned.

"Oh, Lorna - what a divine pleasure it is to finally meet you. Your father has told us so much about you," Emma said, smiling like the Cheshire Cat at the young mutant.

"Right," Polaris said simply, her arms crossed defensively. "I'll have to ask - what exactly did he tell you about me?"

"Only good things, darling," Emma replied with a wink, a yogurt parfait in a crystal cup floating in the air in front of her as she ate her breakfast. The Three-in-One were behind their genetic template, smiling in unison at Polaris. The plan was that once Requiem, Ethos, and Jinx had gotten up for the day and eaten breakfast, they would discuss the strategy and head off on the mission. Emma would be coming along with them to coordinate things from the jet.

"Don't look so shocked, daughter," Magneto mused. "With Quicksilver off playing X-Man, Plasma in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, and the Scarlet Witch focusing more on her brother than the state of mutant affairs, you have to do very little to elicit praise from me."

"Gee, thanks," Polaris muttered, rolling her eyes.

In the middle of the night, Sunspot and Cannonball finally returned to find the Mutant Underground station in a state of ruin and decay. They already had been on the road so long that they agreed to spend the night to rest up and then evacuate the children to the nearest Underground cell in the morning. It would give the adults time to relocate and tackle the problem of Sebastian Shaw and the Hounds. Sapphire's medical treatment had restored Veil largely, assisted by Veil's natural durability. It was difficult to understand, but her ability to manipulate invisible energy seemed to make the healing process go down a little easier - that or Sapphire was just a medical genius.

It was just a little before nine in the morning when Veil had called everyone for a meeting - and to eat breakfast. Their food was not nearly as decadent as the Dairy Queen Sapphire's friend had purchased for them, with their options largely consisting of watered down coffee, water, and extremely bruised apples. "Alright, we have a lot to discuss this morning and I have assignments for everyone," Veil began, her chest bandaged and she was leaning up against a column for some support. Her eyes flickered over towards Max. "Sunspot, Cannonball, I'd like for you two to fill everyone in on the details of your mission."

"Ran into assholes, dealt with assholes, that's pretty much it," Sunspot muttered, clearly on edge as his clothing was smoking constantly.

"Yeah, that's pretty much everything we really have to tell y'all," Cannonball agreed, a bit of a drawl coloring his words. "We's gonna take the kids to the Providence cell after this. They've got space to handle them."

Veil nodded, a bit relieved that they didn't have anything worse to share with her. Something heavy was weighing on her mind, but she knew that it would be better to leave it for last. Everyone was going to have questions and she needed to get everything covered before people were too distracted to think - Havok in particular. "Colossus - updates on Magik and Vulcan, please," Veil then asked, going straight to the next business matter.

Colossus was without his sister at the moment, the first time they had really been apart for hours. "Illyana is resting. She has shivers, fever... Vulcan is unconscious. No sign of anyone coming for them."

"Good, I'd like to keep it that way. Sapphire, after this, I want you to go check on Magik - it sounds like withdrawal symptoms to me but you're the one with a medical degree, so take point there. Whatever we need to steal to help her, let's get it. You've got my permission to organize a run if needed to raid a hospital, just be careful." She didn't think that James would be able to do much for Colossus' sister. Withdrawal did have physical symptoms, but a lot of it was psychological. He had seemed pretty worn out from the night before and he was an unknown variable as well. Sapphire was someone she could trust and count on. "Blink - I'd like for you to go scout for a new location for us to relocate to. I know you used to be part of the Atlanta Station, so you know what we're looking for. Take someone with you if you can."

Blink was a bit surprised that Veil just... gave her a task like that, but she nodded. "Got it, Boss Lady," she said. Veil reminded her so much of Polaris. She just hoped that Veil hadn't somehow gotten in touch with Thunderbird, that break up had been painful enough as it was. She didn't really want to revisit that.

There was still more information that needed to be discussed. Sunshine was uncharacteristically paying attention, even as she took bites out of her apple. She didn't care at all that it was bruised almost beyond recognition. It was food and she knew how unreliable food supplies could be. When there was food, she needed to eat as much as she could - who knew when she'd get to eat again, after all? "Negasonic Teenage Warhead got a tip on where the Hounds are being made," Veil explained. "Please go and fill everyone else in."

Negasonic nodded, looking up from her phone. She had been reblogging things about her OTP on Tumblr. "It's this dive bar called the Cherry Bomb. My girlfriend was working a missing's persons case, ended up discovering that her client was last seen there... It's owned by a subsidiary of Shaw Industries, which totally is just a coincidence that a missing mutant was in a sleazy bar this guy owns..." she finished, getting a little bit sarcastic. No one had mentioned yet Max's murder of the police officers from the previous night.

"I'm taking a team after this meeting to go and investigate the basement - if we find anyone, we free them and hopefully get one step closer to taking this asshole down. After last night, they know we're onto them, so we need to move fast," Veil added. Her eyes then flickered over to Havok. She couldn't avoid mentioning this much longer.

"Last night..." she paused, now looking at Max. "There was an incident in which one of our own killed some human police officers. I'm not going to lie. It's bad. There isn't anything we can do to change what happened and while I know that mutants will survive this, it's entirely likely that not everyone in this room will be alive at the end of the year because of it," she told them frankly. "If anyone wants to get out of Washington D.C., we can send you up north - Canada's got looser laws when it comes to mutants and the attitudes are better there."

"Additionally, the Atlanta station called me half an hour ago - Polaris is in the wind. They're looking for new leadership, so if anyone here wants to take charge in this fight, let me know and I can tell them you're interested in the position."

"WHAT?!" Havok snapped, his eyes wide as he looked at Veil accusingly. "Lorna is missing and you're just telling me NOW?! What the hell, Valery?!"

Sunshine frowned slightly, looking up from her food at Havok. She didn't really know him and she had no idea why he was so freaked out about another Mutant Underground leader running off. Maybe this Polaris was important to him or something - she didn't know, she'd never heard of a mutant named Polaris. She took a sip of her depressing coffee, not really liking the taste but she never cared about whether or not she liked the taste of something she had put in her mouth. "Dude, calm down, she just told you..." Sunshine pointed out, butting into the conversation.

Veil was appreciative of the kid's comments. "Havok, you're free to run after her if you want to - but we both know Polaris. She isn't fond of being tied down or followed."

"This is bullshit!" Havok exclaimed.

Casper was sitting as far away from Max as was humanly possible. Every time he glanced over at him, he could see the ghosts of the police officers he had killed. One of the ghosts was the mother of Feedback, Waverley Watts. He was doing his very best not to look at them, not to respond to them, that way hopefully they wouldn't realize Casper could communicate with them and start demanding that he pass on their angry messages to the living.

"You should tell her, Cassie... She's her daughter, it might help her to get some closure," Ben whispered in Casper's ear.

Casper just shook his head. "It'll just cause her more pain, Ben..." he whispered back.

Guin Stark

Location: the Baxter Building - New York (Guin's Outfit)
Skills: N/A
On some level, Guin had a bit of a smug sense of satisfaction that what they had asked her to do earlier was scientifically impossible. It didn't help their situation in any way whatsoever, but she adored being right - it was practically encoded into her DNA. She was about to say I told you so when Richards then added that there was something he could do for them, so she kept her mouth shut instead. She didn't want to be proven wrong in front of the world's smartest man alive. "Wait - the Hulk?" Guin asked, raising an eyebrow. "... Huh, he was there earlier at the Palace, wasn't he? I always thought he was a hoax - a science experiment gone wrong they tell humans about to keep them from trying to enhance themselves." She then shrugged a bit, remembering something else from the stories - the Hulk couldn't be killed.

Richards then proposed a device that would bring out the memories of those who didn't remember the world. "...Do you think you could build it to be an amplified signal that we could bounce off some satellites and send worldwide? That's one way to go about fixing things - if everyone remembers, then maybe we'll have a fighting chance. And even if we can't change reality back, at least everyone would know how things should be and we could try to reestablish a better system so.... Yay for treason."

She crossed her arms, fluttering her fingers lightly against her elbows. Sure, she had stayed up all night working on looking through different spectral scans, but that was her nature. She wasn't about to just get some sleep when she could assist Richards with building the machine. Pietro seemed to have gone back to ignoring her anyways. She had reached out to him and tried - he hadn't. There wasn't much she could do if he wasn't willing to meet her halfway. So whatever then - this was going to be fun at least. "I'd like to help you build the machine, if you don't mind."

Dominika Novikova and Runa Blake

Location: The Human Resistance HQ - New York
Skills: N/A
"Or if we go after a stone, we could just see if the Sorcerer Supreme already has a vessel on hand," Novikova pointed out. She wouldn't have been all too surprised if Stephen Strange already had something with him that could allow an individual to safely wield an infinity stone. It would also eliminate the need for trial and error - and Novikova doubted anyone here would want to be the guinea pig to see if their design really was able to protect a user from one of the stones. She was starting to get a bit annoyed with Klara as well. From what Novikova understood, her grand idea was to just smack Wanda around or to ask her nicely to change things back.

"Kid, we get it - these things are dangerous. But you don't bring a slingshot and expect to be able to take a tank down with it. An infinity stone could be just what we need to take her down," Novikova told Klara bluntly. "And if we fail, we're all willing to pay the price. We paid it before with Ultron from what Niah's told us." She doubted it would stop Klara from continuing to insist that they shouldn't pursue the stones, but she seemed to be in a minority. And as Strange announced that one of the possible outcomes was the extinction of the mutant race, Novikova only was filled with more determination to use whatever power she could to take down Wanda Maximoff and the House of M.

Runa just nodded slightly at Lance. She was fine - she just didn't want to interact with the Sorcerer Supreme. Yes, her powers in this reality were all based on Eldritch Magic and she didn't doubt that he could teach her extraordinary things... but she was worried what he would do if he knew who she really was. Unlike Asgardians like Thor and Klara, she wasn't always labeled as a friendly. The nature of her powers and her quiet demeanor tended to make people assume that she was destined for evil, incapable of doing anything that would not harm another. It was cruel but it was just the way things were - so why would Strange see her any differently?

"I'm going to go lie down - I'm tired," she then said quietly, before Runa left the room and looked for a corner she could curl up in. She didn't want to lie down anywhere too exposed. Corners were often casted in shadow and people rarely went over to them unless they wanted to avoid someone. Once she found one, she leaned against the wall and sank down to the ground, her eyes feeling incredibly heavy. It wasn't too late in the day but she was still on Australia's timezone mentally, making it challenging to stay awake... and a lot had happened. It was emotionally exhausting, if not completely draining.

Casper Theriot

Location: the Hallway -> Outside - Baton Rouge
Skills: Mediumship
Casper's baby brother had been shot, so he wasn't entirely focused on coming up with some sort of witty reason for why tripping on purpose was a strategic move. He managed to move through the building without tripping over himself this time, and his heart skipped a beat as Jack collapsed to the ground. He did not want to have to explain to his sorta-maybe-not-kidnapped child that her father/kidnapper/whoever had died on the mission. He also didn't want to have his brother eternally haunt him as a ghost. "Jackie!" he exclaimed. His hands were glowing blue again and Ben managed to pick up Jack with his tentacles as gently as he could.

"Come on, move it!" Ben shouted and everyone would be able to hear him.

"What he said!" Casper then added, hoping that Ben's grip was at least stopping the bleeding for Jack. He didn't know how long it would take for them to get to a hospital, but back in the real world (coincidentally the only one he remembered), it was incredibly difficult to get medical treatment for mutants. A lot of hospitals would just refuse to see them. He imagined that things would be only worse here in Baton Rouge - they weren't exactly in a center of liberal thinking and pro-mutant feelings, or were they? There was so much about this world that he just didn't know.

John Watts

Location: Serval Industries - Gardner's Office
Skills: N/A
The universe knew that Watts was the smartest person alive and graced him with information. He couldn't help but show off to Evelyn, spouting off information about the various individuals she listed. "Oh, they're nobody too important..." he prefaced with a slight smirk. "Yuriko goes by Lady Deathstrike. She's a known adversary of the X-Man Wolverine with the ability to interface with machines and produce adamantium claws. Martinique is the daughter of Jason Wyngarde - he's known as Mastermind and has allied himself closely with the mutant terrorist Magneto. Martinique uses the same codename as her father - it's ridiculous if you ask me. People shouldn't be allowed to double up unless one of them is dead."

He then shook his head slightly. Luckily, he would never have that issue - his children had no powers and he was going to ensure that they stayed that way. He knew the risks of the speed serum pumping through his veins, especially the long term impact, and he didn't want that for Leda or Stephen. "To add to the idiocy, Martinique's sister uses the name Lady Mastermind - her name is Regan. The entire little family has essentially the same power set." The Andrew hallucination continued to be quite persistent - but could Watts blame him? He was based on his own brainwaves and he demanded nothing less than perfection from himself. His eyes flickered over to Evelyn as he considered what she said. It would take more than just the two of them to infiltrate this facility and the hallucination wasn't wrong - they would most likely be ripped to shreds.

He didn't want that for Belladonna or Evelyn, but for the others...? Cannon fodder existed for a reason. "You're right," he told her quickly. "Let's go get the others - we'll need them as a distraction."

The Hub - San Fransisco: March 5th, 1984 - 10:50 A.M.

Before the others had a proper chance to react to Flynn's murder of Pym, Strange took action. He had seen these possibilities before and had hoped that Roman would heed his words and stop Pym's murder - it was the easiest option he had foreseen. Unfortunately, Roman didn't seem to act fast enough, still just remaining quiet and standing there. The Sorcerer Supreme instead had to fall back to Plan J. Using the Eye of Agamotto and the Time Stone it contained, he temporarily froze time for a few precious seconds.

"The timeline will begin to take hold soon," he warned Niah quickly. "I've gathered that the most likely outcome would be an even bleaker future - one caught in a war between the cyborg Tony Stark and the enchantress Morgan le Fay. I'm going to send you back to when we arrived here and you'll have another chance, Dr. Bautista, to get this right. In fact, I'm going to fold time around you into a loop - the loop will only break once either you die or you succeed in averting an apocalyptic future in 2020."

Dr. Strange then made a complicated series of hand gestures and Niah was surrounded in a green light, so intense it would blind her. And the next thing she would know...

The Hub - San Fransisco: March 5th, 1984 - 10:10 A.M.

Having just been transported by Dr. Strange from the Baskin Robbins, the group finally arrived at the Hub in San Fransisco. It was just a little past ten in the morning and already, the halls were busy with people rushing to and fro. Some of them were in nice dress clothes, other military uniforms, and even a few of the harried workers had lab coats on. None of them really took notice of the little group, with Strange smirking to himself.

"Sorry, I hate public transportation," he explained. For Niah, she would have an incredible sense of déjà vu. She would remember seeing Flynn kill Pym just seconds ago and Strange's solution, but no one else would. To everyone else, this was the first time they had arrived here - the first time they would spot the phone and directory on the wall not too far away from them. That would be useful - they might want to get in contact with Pym or Fury, after all.

"This was a lot quicker anyway," Susan agreed.

"Now, Dr. Bautista, if you would like to call Dr. Pym or Mr. Fury, that would be wonderful," Strange said. Right on cue, a small red kitten came up to Niah and started to rub up on her a little bit, purring as if they had already met that day.

"... Fuck, is that Fury's cat?" Raynor asked, a bit shocked.

Stark Tower - New York: July 15th, 2021 - 10:30 P.M.

For Cass, her legs would feel like they were live wires. It had all happened so suddenly, the searing pain that knocked her down to the ground. She wouldn't understand what had happened - she had no awareness that she wasn't organic matter, that she was just a glorified machine. Her memories were her own, weren't they? She'd be able to remember everything - from her sister's face to the early years of S.H.I.E.L.D. and to Ultron's supremacy. Maybe Ultron had hit her with a nerve gas of some sorts - yes, that would explain her sudden pain, wouldn't it?

"I always thought of myself as more of a Siri," Ultron mused, clearly enjoying Tinley's torment. Goose, Wanda, and Tinley were the only beings made out of organic matter left here. Shuri was back at the Sanctum along with Dr. Doom - perhaps it would be a good time to try to contact the cavalry and call them in, or should Tinley not send out the call and let someone else take up the mantle of humanity's last hope?

"Don't strain yourself, dear," Jocasta told Cass, shaking her head slightly. "It's just a nasty bit of malware, your antivirus will clear it out in a moment..." The robot was quiet for a moment, contemplating what else Cass had said - about Ultron controlling her and her son, Vision. "Everyone is controlled by someone, Virginia. Free will... is an illusion held by organic beings."

Virginia? Now why would Jocasta call Cass by that name?

"Come on - we can't stop now," Wanda urged Tinley. She spat on the floor before her red glow had surrounded Vision's form. Cass had given the Scarlet Witch an idea. Nothing they had been able to do really seemed to hurt these machines - it took one of their own kind to kill the Vision. So, why not use the Vision to kill them? "I dedicate this weapon of death and destruction to the Merchant of Death - Stark," she boasted dramatically, before using her powers to manipulate the probabilities surrounding Vision's body.

It worked. Wanda managed to activate the laser from the Vision's forehead, despite the extensive damage it had taken on. Magic and science working together - who would have thought? The laser beam flew at Jocasta perfectly and the robot dropped to the ground, a gigantic hole in her head. If that robot had been Janet van Dyne in some way, it didn't matter. Jocasta was dead. And Wanda had her sights on Ultron now.

"You took EVERYTHING from me!"

"HULK SMASH!!!!!!!" the Hulk screamed, leaping back up into the room. The green monster let out another roar and started doing his best to try to pummel Ultron, only for Ultron to manage to match him blow for blow. Raw strength didn't seem to be enough to win this fight. Hopefully though, none of this would matter and the group going back in time would succeed.

"You killed my wife," Ultron laughed. "I suppose you'll have to do as her replacement then, Dominion."

Washington D.C.: September 9th, 2020 - 9:20 PM

The Penthouse...

Nothing really here to note again - mostly since only one of you three has managed to post at this moment in time. As you get to the bottom floor and leave the building, it's pitch black outside. There are storm clouds up above and it's raining, but the rain in Washington D.C. either is gone in a few moments or it turns into a full blown storm. There's not really an in between. Like always, they can go around to the garage and take one of the cars - or go grab a driver to take them around in a limo. Across the street, a gigantic television screen is displaying an interview between Dr. Moira McTaggert and MSNBC news, discussing the mutant gene and its potential. Moira is a noted human scientist and close ally of the X-Men - and according to the gossip network, a former lover of Charles Xavier.

Outside...

Both Havok and Negasonic had gone inside with Sapphire, leaving the brothers and Glimpse outside for the time being. Glimpse has Xavier's number, so if she wants to call him, she's fully capable of doing so. There's even a chance that he's anticipating her call if he's currently connected to Cerebro and probing the D.C. area with his fantastic psychic abilities. The rain is coming down here as well, hard enough to leave the young mutant drenched within seconds. If she does call the big man, she might want to do it somewhere with a bit more protection from the elements.

Casper had managed to catch his breath, his hands still shaking and his pupils were wide. There wasn't anything he craved more than a shot of heroin in that moment. He hadn't always been like this, but drugs were just about the only thing that could keep the ghosts out. The poor departed souls had stuck inside with Max thankfully, not following the son of X outside. "J-Jackie... I-I think he's a murderer," Casper whispered. "Sh-should we do something?" He was conflicted about it. While he happily broke the law in order to get high, he was strongly opposed to murder. Being a mutant didn't give someone a free pass to go around and do whatever they wanted.

He wasn't really sure on the timeline of Max's killings either. Those ghosts hadn't been there earlier, but sometimes his powers didn't really make much sense. They could have a bit of a time delay and he desperately hoped that more ghosts wouldn't start to pop up all around them. He just couldn't deal with that. Ben seemingly had sensed this as well, vanishing to give Casper some space for the moment. Sure, Ben didn't scare Casper but at the moment, Casper needed less sensory input and not more.

He let go of his brother, running his hands through his hair. He pulled out a strand and had a horrifying realization - he'd probably go bald one day. "Freaking Nazis, Jackie... We gotta do something about that too. If there's one thing I learned from Steve Rogers, it's that you punch Nazis in the face." Casper didn't really mind the pouring rain too much, though it was making him look a bit like a wet dog.

The First Floor...

"You got it," Havok told Sapphire, before running off to the little supply area where they kept their medical items. James must have not heard Spark Plug ask him to help out with Veil, as he just stayed where he was on the stairs. Maybe it was the exhaustion taking its toll on him. At any rate, Havok came back a few minutes later with the very best the Mutant Underground had to offer. There was an assortment of items - gauze, tweezers, knives, duct tape, a sewing kit, pliers, bandages, alcohol wipes, latex gloves, a flashlight, and a small little bag of stickers that they gave to the little kids to calm them down. Some people arrived at the Mutant Underground for the first time in bad shape - and sadly, it was usually the little ones. "This work?" he asked her. "It better, it's all I could find, Doc..."

"Okay, but what can a politician do?" Blink countered. Maybe she had a point, maybe she just had a lack of faith in the human justice system. "They don't have the authority to arrest people. That's the job of the police. And last I checked, the police hardly are enamored with mutants..." She crossed her arms, unaware of how her words may hit a mark for some - Max. Colossus was busy speaking with his sister quietly in Russian, the two of them exchanging news rapidly back and forth. Illyana looked a bit clammy and overheated, but it wasn't anything to be concerned about just yet. And besides, Sapphire had a more pressing patient on her hands. Waverley would recognize who was on the couch - Veil, the leader of this section of the Mutant Underground.

"Guys, look at this," Negasonic interrupted, pulling up a video on her phone. It was a live news broadcast from a local network in D.C. And while those at the Hellfire Club HQ were seeing the interview with Moira, the Mutant Underground members saw something different - it was traffic cam footage of Max's assault on the police car.

"This act of terrorism, coming on the wake of 7/15, is no less than an act of war on the part of the mutants says Reverend William Stryker," the anchor said with a solemn expression. "The Reverend is calling for a demonstration tomorrow against mutant violence. Those interested in joining Stryker's Crusade can find him on his website or at his Church on Maple, the Hope of Humanity."

"Joining me to comment is a true American patriot, you know him from our sister network, Benedict Ryan."

Ryan smiled at the anchor, shaking her hand. "It's a pleasure to be here, Rita. Now, I know that I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but enough is enough... I'm calling on Congress to deputize the Purifiers in order to keep the peace here in D.C. The police have been out there, fighting the good fight, and it's about time we got them back up against these menaces!"

Sunshine's face fell, recognizing the man on the television. She didn't watch the Ryan Hour. She couldn't read so why would she try to keep up with the news? No, she had met that man a long time ago - he had been there at her trial. He had testified that he saw her set fire to the apartment complex, that she had been a mutant extremist bent on killing innocent people. Her face twisted into a glare at the screen. The liar was the reason her friends, her real family, had been locked away in Mutant Super-Max - a prison that no one ever came back from alive.

"Καλό, καλύτερα να προετοιμαστεί για έναν πόλεμο - πρόκειται να σπάσω το κεφάλι του!"

Negasonic's eyes flickered over towards Max, Sapphire, and Havok. "Is there anything you three'd care to share with the class?"

Soulless Fade Between:

Virginia thought for a moment about Elizaveta's question. "I cannot say - but I am confident that they are more than equipped to protect themselves," she then answered. She didn't know enough of what was going on to predict what could have happened to the others, yet she had faith that Millicent would be able to keep the forces of darkness at bay and cling to life no matter the challenge. She had to imagine that the others present there were made of some similar resolve, given how far they had come and their success in vanquishing that poor, poor creature. At any rate, fretting too much about them would accomplish very little and would squander away their chances to learn and explore this wondrous place.

This Elsewhere was essentially paradise in her opinion. She considered Constantin's point that perhaps the others had just popped up somewhere else here and she couldn't argue against it. However, her notion still stood - whatever was happening with the others, she didn't doubt that they were more than capable of defending themselves if needed. "My father, he instructed me to seek life Elsewhere... I believe this is the place he referred to. I had been led to believe by Ny that he was in India, but perhaps he made his way here," she mused.

"Of course, my family's lore also suggests that this place may be connected to Belladonna and her extraordinary life." That had been what she had pieced together, although potentially misconstrued, that her father (and hopefully mother as well) had found the mythical place where Belladonna had gone. They had gone elsewhere, just as Belladonna had in the stories. And now, here she was as well. There was a chance she could see her parents again after what had felt like an eternity.

PE Fade Between:

"But how can you know for certain that wasn't Evelina? If time and space have broken down, then it stands to reason that there could be multiple versions of Evelina here from different points in their timeline," she argued. She didn't want to compare it to the television program Doctor Who but the idea was the same - people could exist in one timeline at two different stages in their life. They could meet friends out of order, even having confusing relationships like the Doctor and River Song where his first encounter was her last one.

She wasn't really asking him if he thought that he would be deified - her point was more that it was possible for the Emendators, mythical figures in their own right, to be transformed into some other entity. Caterpillars became butterflies - why couldn't an Emendator become the personification of a concept as abstract as Justice? And even if Justice was called the Dice long before she took that name, and assuming Justice lived through a linear progression of time, what if Evelina had been stranded at the beginning of history when the timelines imploded and changed over the eons? Would that explain why Gilbert was so certain the Dice was far away and not so very near, despite Justice claiming that she was the Dice?

Sophia and Bart started discussing just where the Emendators had gotten their titles from, a point that Andromeda very much wanted to know the answer to as well. They were going on about all of this as they walked, with the landscaping changing in front of her eyes - as if she was watching a scene transition in a film. The colors around them reminded her of Mars (the planet, not the Roman god). Sulfur filled her nostrils and she bit her lip slightly. Sulfur never seemed to be a good sign.

Gilbert's explanation of how he came to be, gaining the title of the Hat, only left her with more questions. "Alright, but did something trigger your awareness as the Hat? For example - why does Nancy look like a teenage girl, Gio like an old man, and you look like you're in your late thirties? There has to be something more than you just becoming the Hat one day... It can't be that random."

DTTS Fade Between:

Josephine, the movie star, seemed to have a sensible head on her shoulders. Rather than blatantly ignoring Nancy's expertise in these matters, she appeared to defer to it. This brought a slight smile to the young Emendator's face. The extra annoying members of their little party also had quieted down, no doubt alleviating a later tension headache that Nancy was certain they would have caused. One of them though, Lauren, offered to give the man moonshine. Nancy had to grin a little bit more at that suggestion - normal people were rather entertaining sometimes.

As she tried to get a read on him, something then clicked - there was something rather obvious that she could attempt to try. She could have smacked herself for not doing so sooner. Maybe these people were slowly killing her brain cells - that had to be it. The man's initial words caused a sense of unease to grow within her though - specifically that he liked her qualities in a woman. She wasn't about to let onto to that however. She had told very few people about her traumatic entrance into this life. "Oh I understand - which is why I'm not going to ask for travel with all of them," she answered bluntly.

He certainly was charming and finally, Nancy had a name. Baron seemed to suit him the most, especially with his hat and mannerisms. And wondrously, he seemed to be content with Lauren's promise of spirits for the moment. Nancy put her pendant back around her neck. It was an old and simple thing, but the rune always gave her comfort. It reminded her of her favorite time and place, the Viking era in Scandinavia. She had spent a good deal of time cross dressing back then.

"Perfect," she told him with a grin, though the way he said stiff only added to her slight feeling of unease. Hopefully Lauren would be able to pull this off.

The Small Wet Country Across the Sea: November 5th, 12,508 - 11:10 PM

The Private Courtyard - the Palace, the Castle...

Nothing new to note here. People are still running around trying to clean up the mess. If they hurry, they'll be able to get to the Ramblings by foot within 1-2 updates. They could speed things up if Mona were to use Magyk to transport them and Myth could even use her Bardic Magyk as well to do something.

The 19th Floor - Wizard Tower, the Castle...

Rowland sighed for a moment, his heart heavy as he tried to think of another way to explain this to Cuyler. It was a difficult concept and there weren't very many ways to simplify things further. "Magyk has two sides to it - the Lyte and the Darke. While we like to distinguish between the two of them, the Magykal force itself does not... Arya was birthed of pure Magyk - of Lyte and Darke. I did my best to ensure that she followed the path of the Lyte, but when she seemed to die and then came back... She has an equal potential to become one with the Darke instead. Her early nature leaned towards it, an innate violent tendency and a thirst for vengeance... I helped to repress those qualities in her, to enhance her Lyte. If you loved the Arya you knew, Cuyler, then the kind thing would be to end her before her legacy can be tarnished by the Darke that dwells within her..."

Myrus Silvers

Location: the Crypt - the Palace
Skills: N/A
Myrus hugged Luna back tightly, his arms quivering as she mentioned Mavis. She had been his best friend since he was little - they had dated once upon a time, only for Mavis to end things. Myrus hadn't been mature enough for her. Tears misted up in his eyes and started to fall quietly down his face. Pain and tragedy had been the defining themes of his life for the past year. "...Th-thanks..." he mumbled, swallowing thickly. As far as he was aware, Mavis' ghost would be left behind - these creatures couldn't change that, right? He'd see her again, but it would never be the same - there would be a veil left between them.

Thankfully, the prince didn't notice the odd look that Amarantha gave him. Milo moved hesitantly over towards Luna, hiding behind her skirts as he tried to become invisible. There were so many people here, so many of them not just important to the Castle but also covered in blood of the people he knew and cared about, as well as those who had slain them. Ahote would be able to pick up that Amarantha's aura had suddenly changed - there was something infected about it, something unlike anything he had ever seen before.

His eyes widened as Valda mentioned the old witchy tale - mostly because he recognized two of its central characters. "That's got to be Hel and Fenrir then!" he exclaimed, sniffling a little bit. "Hel was the Goddess of Death and Fenrir was a wolf... I have no idea what the connection between them is, but they're pretty big in the Land of Long Nights' lore and all..."

Apollodora nodded - her father had ensured that she and her brother knew their culture well. "Aye. Fenrir and Hel are children of Loki. Hel can be reasoned with, sticking to her realm... but Fenrir had sworn vengeance against the gods for what they did to him."

"What did they do?" Myrus asked, looking at Apollodora with curiosity. She didn't look like someone from the Land of Long Nights - her hair was dark, rather than their typical pale blonde locks.

"They betrayed him - and chained him," Apollodora answered matter of factly. "Or they will one day - the stories aren't always clear about the order of events leading up to the big one..."

Antonije Magnisky

Location: Room 847 - the Ramblings
Skills: Telepathy
Now, not only was Sylvi now a vampire and a bard, she was also a Spirit Seer. She could see all ghosts, even if they did not choose to Appear to her. So when Antonije killed their neighbor right in front of her, the ghost was doomed to haunt their little room in the Ramblings for the next year and a day. And poor Sylvi was cursed to have to see their victim at all times. There wouldn't be any reprieve - their home was tainted now with his ghost. "You sure?" Antonije asked. "I don't mind making him extra tasty for you..."

He gave her a smile, whereas the man's ghost Appeared and started to scream at the top of his lungs at Antonije. He didn't Appear though, rather just shouting general abuse and screaming about the indignity of being killed for some weird cannibalistic ritual. The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees, though Antonije was completely oblivious. "WHY THE HELL DID YOU HAVE TO KILL ME?!?!?!?!?!"

"Oh, you're not hungry," Antonije realized, using his telepathy to tell. "I'll package him up for you then - think of him as a readymade meal, right?" he suggested, smiling at her again. He then started to drag the corpse across the room, attempting to get the body away from their living space. He was pretty sure if he just dangled the corpse upside down and made some cuts, he could drain the blood for Sylvi. That was the part she seemed to really be interested in, anyways.

"DON'T YOU DARE EAT ME!!!!"

Halley Banner

Location: the Pyramid Library - Wizard Tower
Skills: Chaos Magyk
Halley frowned slightly as Arnora confirmed that Loki was there somewhere, but he wasn't anywhere to be found. Using her perceptive abilities wasn't going to help her here, especially since Loki was using some sort of Magyk to disguise himself. She closed her eyes for a moment and imagined pushing her senses out to encompass the room, feeling the fabric of reality for distortions. It took her a while to focus her mind properly, but when she opened her eyes, she knew just where the God of Mischief was - or rather, who he was.

"There's an easy way to settle this," Halley whispered to her companion.

"Look, no one is here," Jarvis insisted. "I don't see why you're wasting your time here."

Unfortunately, Halley wasn't thinking the most strategically at the moment. If she had been, then perhaps she would have just grabbed Loki and threatened him with her weapon until he changed shape to reveal his true form. Maybe she would have given some sort of signal to Arnora for a coordinated attack, as to better their chances of succeeding against the God of Mischief. No, for all of her ego and pride about her superiority, she fell into a classic trap of any hero or villain...

She opted to talk instead of act. "It's an impressive trick, pretending to be a little girl."

"What do you mean?" Minerva asked, tilting her head slightly. "Arnora, is your friend okay?" she asked.

"Oh I'm quite fine, Loki!"

"...Me? Loki? You've got to be daft! If I was some all powerful and devilishly handsome god, don't you think I'd have better things to do with my time than sift through an old library?" Minerva pointed out, crossing her arms and laughing a little bit at Halley's accusation.

Violet

Location: the Old Port Witch Coven Home - the Port
Skills: Sense Magyk
Nera had left Fleur with some brief parting words, before she disAppeared. Her spirit was still there, but she was no longer visible to Fleur. Perhaps she just wanted some time to herself to process everything. Of course, her words had made her feelings clear: "Wherever you leave your heart, that is where I will be... Fleur."

As Fleur came back down the decrepit and barely standing staircase, Violet nodded for a moment, before she hesitated. She could Feel some deep Magyk downstairs. "There's something here," she insisted, before the ex-ExtraOrdinary Wizard quickly dashed down the stairs into the basement. She didn't seem at all concerned by the precarious creaks that came with each step she took, more concerned with looking around the dank basement. Various possessions of the Port Witch Coven were still here, including a large ornate sigil drawn on the ground in what had been lamb's blood. However, she wasn't looking at the items. No, Violet was staring straight on at an unremarkable stretch of concrete wall.

"Do you see that?" she asked, reaching out cautiously with her fingers. When she touched the stone wall, Violet continued to push her fingers forward. They seemingly vanished, as if the wall was just an illusion and there was something else behind it. Pulling her hand back out, snowflakes covered the back of her palm. "...Have you seen Magyk like this before?" Violet asked, reaching her hand forward again. Some personality traits never changed, no matter the case of amnesia. This was something new, unlike anything she had ever seen before. Her eyes went back to Fleur, expecting that she might know what this was.

Leda Storm

Location: Camp Half-Blood Dining Pavilion
Skills: N/A

Leda had spent the morning drawing up ideas for shrines to a few more minor gods and goddesses. It was practically a never ending process, ensuring that they were all included. Then there was the matter of verification - some of the personifications she had to consult the records to see if they really were real or had just been added to the oral storytelling legends. But with her colored pencils and a pad in front of her, the wind tickling her face as she sat on the grass by the shrine to her mother, Iris, she couldn't have felt more blissful. By contrast, sitting in the dining pavilion as she ate her food just felt so... cramped and dull. The summer was shaping up to be largely uneventful, with the exception of the arrival of more kids of the Big Three.

There had to be something big on the way - and true to form, her impatience demanded the new adventure to come now rather than later.

Once she had finished eating and the sacrificial station at the front was available, she went up there and scrapped some of her food into the flame. "Hey, Mum. Everything s'alright here. If you've got any quests or anything you need doing... I'd be chuffed to take care of that for you." She rocked back on her heels, feeling a little bit awkward before she went back to the Iris table and sat down next to one of her siblings. Maybe her mom would have some sort of errand for her to run - that'd be cool. She never really got to spend proper time with her.

Lady Virginia Crypt

Location: Soulless Fade Between
Skills: N/A
"Have faith," Virginia had reassured her dear friend Millicent, before they performed the trick. She was not certain what sort of sensation they should have had from Vlad's skill, yet it was uncanny and remarkable all the same. Everything around them had started to fade away, with this other place... this Elsewhere... becoming all the more prominent. It took her breath away and while no doubt any ordinary person would have been terrified, Virginia was delighted. This outcome had been more than she could have hoped for. The beautiful melancholy desolation of this place sang to her very soul, with the essence seeming to whisper secrets to Virginia that she had never known about herself.

She had never felt more alive and complete before. The broken and empty structure she now stood in was horrific and terrifying - she had no doubt that when the arches caught the light in just the right manner, their shadows would look like specters. She smiled, wiping a slight tear away from her eyes as she tried her best to take in this awe inspiring place. "We're Elsewhere..." she said, answering William's question. It seemed as fitting a name as any. It was, after all, where her father had instructed her to go. "Have you ever been somewhere so beautiful?" she asked her companions. She dried her eyes by blinking rapidly to dispel the moisture.

Oh, if only she could share this wondrous place with Millicent and James and many more! She had no understanding of how they had come to be here, but everything about it just felt right to her.

Guin Stark

Location: the Baxter Building - New York (Guin's Outfit)
Skills: N/A
Guin couldn't help but be a bit curious when Carolina revealed that Johnny Storm was still called the Human Torch in the original reality. "Huh - guess you can't improve on perfection then," she mused. The name was definitely one of the better ones in the Homo Sapien Death Match sport. Her father's was Iron Man - though on occasion in the tabloids, he was called either the Da Vinci Of Our Time or the Merchant of Death. She giggled slightly at Johnny's digs at Ben Grimm - the Thing. "Which head is made out of rock?" she asked, feigning innocence. It was a little bit disappointing when Johnny Storm left to go find his sister, but at the very least they were now in the company of the world's greatest scientific mind - Reed Richards.

She wrinkled her nose, seeing his lab coat. "What, is the EPA coming to inspect your lab today?" Guin asked. She almost never wore proper personal protective gear when she worked. Her philosophy was that she knew enough to understand the recklessness of her actions and if something happened, well, that was on her. She only wore her lab coat when working with things that scared her and she claimed to not be afraid of anything.

"Dr. Richards," she greeted. "We need you to devise a method of rewriting reality down to each and every atom," she told him bluntly. "Preferably within the next week." She knew it was unreasonable and impossible, and she expected him fully to reply along those lines. But still, that honestly was why they were here - and maybe Reed would be able to use his big brain to come up with an even better idea. Guin noticed that the blonde girl, October, seemed to be looking around dreamily at the various pieces of equipment here. Flynn and his brother, Pietro, both were relatively quiet as well.

She sighed and let go of Pietro's hand, assuming that he was still mad at her, since he wasn't even responding.

Dominika Novikova and Runa Blake

Location: The Human Resistance HQ - New York
Skills: N/A
"Mother Russia's ass," she whispered back in Maria's ear with a bit of a giggle. As was quite obvious from her name, Novikova was Russian-American. Her father was a Russian nuclear physicist and her mother was a New England socialite. Of course, she had largely been raised by her step-father, but Novikova never really felt close to him. She always had more in common with her father than anyone else in her family. He was her hero. "Doctor Strange is - was - no, is the Sorcerer Supreme of our universe... Basically, he's the Dumbledore of the wizards and witches." She wasn't really too clear on how sorcerers worked, but that was more or less her understanding of the situation. And of course, when Max pointed out to her that Strange was asking him what master he served, she had smirked and informed him: "Well, he isn't called Dr. Normal."

Banner answered her question about how they had found the stone, but what he said in addition to that gave her an idea. It was strengthened by Klara's explanation about the containment vessels for the stones and how those made them safe to manipulate and use. "Stark was protected because the arc reactor is non-organic matter..." she mumbled, drumming her fingers against her leg as she tried to think of how to use that information to their advantage. She was pretty certain that Wanda didn't wear any metal or armor on her, so if they were to get the mind stone and put it in a scepter, they could use it to control her.

Runa had been relatively quiet, listening to the conversation going on. Her main weapon, her ability over lies, had been greatly diminished in this reality. She wasn't capable of warping reality beyond the minor tricks of magic she had gained here. The strongest magic user on their side at the moment seemed to be Max - though he lacked control from what she had learned. Her face paled slightly as the Sorcerer Supreme appeared, having been summoned by Max.

Backing away slightly, she hoped that he wouldn't notice her. Wizards on Earth were supposed to guard this dimension and others from threats - she had to believe there was a very good chance that Strange would take advantage of her momentary loss of power and imprison her. So many people on Asgard back in the real reality believed that she was a force of evil, it stood to reason that Doctor Strange might as well. She wanted to speak up and warn Klara that just hitting things with a hammer rarely solved any problems, but she didn't want to cause Strange's gaze to drift over towards her.

"Help us, Stephen Strange. You're our only hope."

Casper Theriot

Location: the Hallway - Baton Rouge
Skills: Mediumship
"Excuse you, I tripped on purpose!" Casper claimed, Anastasia's not-so-subtle putdown stinging a little bit. He ordinarily was rather good at running, but sometimes it was just hard to stay balanced in high stress situations. He had never stolen an Infinity Stone and then lied about it to a super-villain before - it had a bit of a learning curve. If his father could see him now, forced into the role of the hero, he was sadly certain that Xavier would have been proud.

Or more likely, scientifically curious and wanting to push Casper to his limits, to force him to embrace the ghosts...

He banished those thoughts from his head, accepting Bobbi's hand as he got back up to his feet. "Ne t'inquiète pas," he instructed her. It was water under the bridge as far as he was concerned. Of course, maybe he should have been a little more concerned.

"LOOK OUT!" Ben screamed, as the guards came. Mary managed to take out a few of them, but more showed up and they sprayed the area with bullets. Jack had managed to deflect most of them, but Casper's baby brother ended up getting hit in the shoulder, his blood staining the hallway wall behind them. "Shit!" Casper cursed, freaking out a little bit. He didn't want to see his brother get hurt. It was his job to keep Jack safe!

"Let me at them," Ben asked.

"...Alright," Casper said softly, concentrating as he tried to do what he had done earlier with Chrysi. The blue glow surrounded his hands and his eyes started to glow as well as Ben became visible to everyone present. Giant tentacles sprouted out and Ben used them to grab the guards, snapping their necks in one swift motion.

"...Wow, that felt gross," Ben admitted, looking a little green (for a ghost).
