Bio

You JUST scrolled down!

Hello out there! My name's Mason. I like a lot of random stuff like comics, Masters of the Universe, M*A*S*H, X-Files, conspiracy theories, as well as a good superhero themed role play! I'm more of a DC freak than a Marvel zombie but I did grow up on mutants and 3rd string heroes. Once in awhile I'll make a few micros in MSPaint for my RP's because I love designing heroes as much as I do writing/reading about them. I'm about to try and get another random themed game off the ground, if you're interested gimme a shout!

My top RP's on the Guild:

Young Justice 2020
Justice League Unlimited
Titans of Gotham
Champions of Engine City
Marvel Reborn
Legion of Superheroes Return [stat based]

Top Characters:

Ditto - Young Justice series
Bulleteer - Justice League Unlimited
Leviathan - Titans of Gotham
Fastlane - Champions of Engine City
the Thing II - Marvel Reborn
Ultra Boy II - Legion of Superheroes Return

I've been RP'ing for awhile. I mostly RP to keep my writing skills up to par, and I generally RP between Casual and Advanced. I've been a member of the guild for quite a bit, pre Guildfall even. Ninety percent of the time you'll find me in some superhero themed RP or something based off of another fandom like MotU or Power Rangers. Currently in the process of developing my own comics!

Favorite DC heroes (I won't go into villains to save space) in no order: Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Superboy (the clone), Swamp Thing, Starman, Animal Man, the Ray (90's era), Impulse, Captain Atom, and Batman Beyond.

Favorite Marvel heroes list: Human Torch I & II, Capt. Mar-Vell, Black Bolt, the classic Destroyer, Havok, Multiple Man, classic Scarlet Spider, Spiderman 2099, Nova, and Colossus.

OTHER FAVORITES: Space Ghost, the Rocketeer, the Maxx, Shadowhawk, Green Hornet, Madman, Doctor Star/Andromeda, the Phantom, He-Man, and Zorro.

Character Type - Cannon Inspired
Name - Jorah Blaze
Alias - Blazing Skull, Blaze
Age - 29
Social Class - Midtown
Alignment - good
Archetype - Human

Powers -

* bionic enhancements increase his physical attributes. Max lift 1 ton, max speed on foot 75 mph. Armored body is more durable, exposed skin can withstand small arms fire.

* completely robotic left arm can be used like a computer and jack into various systems.

* uses hard light projection graphics for the flaming skull headpiece; tinkering with this gave him the ability to fire hard light flames from his mouth [a short stream of fire or just a mini blast of 'spitfire']

Skills - good with most electronics but no genius. He's not super athletic or agile but loves to run and jump through the steel skylines of Uptown in Nueva York.

Weaknesses - Still just a human with human weaknesses, hes just a little more durable because of the robotic enhancements. He's also an amputee and most of his left arm is gone. Blaze also has low self esteem and is overcoming an addiction to the drug rapture.

Arch Enemy - Depending on what we get in the villain department...

Appearance -

BRIEF Bio -

Jorah is actually the great nephew of former Ghost Rider Johnny Blaze. As a kid he had heard rumors of his relative being the famous motorcycle stuntman, and there were pictures and strange stuff in a locker passed down to Jorah that didn't make much sense. Much of the history of the Heroic Age [2008-2050] was lost but old pictures of Johnny in his old gear and cycle suggest he was either Ghost Rider or another hero called the Blazing Skull.

However Jorah would go on to live a mostly average life growing up in Brooklyn outside of Nueva York. Most of Brooklyn by this point looked like a mix of Midtown with a dash of Downtown here and there. Not as many people as in 'the city'. One night in 2097, Jorah's life would be forever changed after being high on rapture caused him to wreck his hovercar into the side of an electric gas station. An electrical fire erupted and Jorah lost most of his left arm and had scars on a large portion of his back and left thigh.

The court system had mercy on him and only sentenced him to 200 hours community service. During his time picking up litter in Times Square (the only area of Nueva York that's 'Uptown' from street level all the way to the top) he overheard somebody's plan to blow up an Alchemax Lab his friend happened to work at.

Since there were a couple of crappy movies recently about some form of Tron-like Ghost Rider, he chose to go the Blazing Skull route when creating a superhero/vigilante alias. He used some vibranium alloy debris he'd found in downtown areas to fashion armor and combined with electro-magnet powered prosthetics also managed to boost his strength, durability, and speed. Jorah took pride in the design of his hard light projection graphics. He wasn't the greatest artist or tinkerer but he could pull of some pretty legit stuff when he had the drive. In the end he foiled the bombing, but made enemies out of the Public Eye and Alchemax, who blamed Blaze for the botched bombing.

Notes - Might need to polish the CS up a bit later. I'm behind on packing/moving.

Sample Post - I'll also write something in-character for this later.

Definitely taking interest in this! Will 2099 be primarily action-based or will you accept roleplay posts that delve into/draw from a character's life outside their powers?

Yeah the idea is we'll all be doing our own thing for the most part and interacting whenever it comes naturally in the game. Spiderman isn't looking to remake the Avengers or anything... but if folks wanna know each other, already have an arch enemy, focus on futuristic lifestyles, its all there in the toybox. I just tossed a few ideas out there so you guys can come into the RP in whatever way you want.

-00492
On the subject of more street level heroes. Just an image for now.... but I'm reimagining the Blazing Skull for the modern 2099 world. Likely shorten the name to 'Blaze'.

Okie dokie, so I just have a few things.
First, mostly didn't have a sample post since I didn't see you have a sample post for your sheet. As GM I figure you'd probably want to nail down your sample post to show the other players what you would like their sample post to be. It is generally pretty lame to whip up a post out of thin air without anything to work off of you know? But sure I can get one up fairly quick.

Second, If everyone seems happy about playing around street level maybe just roll with the punches and do more street level focused things?

Third, I don't see how your Justice League roleplay really should effect how the players should build characters for this one? I mean THE Nicholas Grey is a celebrity DUE to his stellar racing fame.

1.) I never said anywhere it has to be for this RP, could just as well be an excerpt from another RP post you had written. Most people don't ask but I never say anything if they simply link me to a good post they'd written. I just have to know you can roll with an idea if I throw something at you. A good writing sample can make or break the best CS. Too many times I've accepted people into RPs without a writing sample for them to come at me with "I don't know what to do with my character..." It's great if it's in-character with the RP, but it doesn't have to be.

2.) I'm actually rethinking my character now. Even though he's powered down wielding Ronan's hammer rather than the real Thor's, I've been tinkering with ideas here and there for less powerful characters. Blazing Skull, 3D Man, and now that I notice the Defenders in the roster I may go for a spin on Punisher... or somebody similar like Laughing Mask or the Destroyer.

3.) I just draw comparisons to the character in my other RP because he's all about the product and the gimmick cars and gadgets. I just don't want to see the same thing with your guy here. I get that racing is why he's famous... so let me try and give you an example. Dwayne the Rock Johnson: He got famous because he was a wrestler and a champion. However when he started making movies... he kinda stopped wrestling and is still a MEGA celebrity. He's the biggest action star in Hollywood right now. Does a lot of his own stunts. He's gonna be playing BLACK ADAM in the Shazam movie. Grey can still be an incredible wheel man... I just don't want him to have gimmick cars and the like out of nowhere. He can wear whatever equivalent to a Nike logo they have in 2099, but I don't want him to be a walking infomercial.

Generally when I'm GM'ing more than one RP it's usually because I want something else out of the other RP. If Aquaman and Plastic Man are prominent in an RP thats DC themed, I'm less likely to accept somebody using Namor or Mr. Fantastic in a Marvel themed RP unless they're vastly different. If everybody from my JLU RP who applied for this used the same type of characters as the other game it wouldn't work for me [which in my mind would be a black version of A-Bomb or the Hulk, the daughter of the Lizard rather than Killer Croc, and the business suit Moon Knight... which honestly does still sound cool...]. I just wanted to tell you what I'd like to see with this type of character if you're gonna follow up with a writing sample of some kind. I still like the concept of a corporate hero, just don't be a sell out.

@NecroKnight - Ghost - ACCEPTED
@Afro Samurai - Power Man - PRE APPROVED [CS needs finished]
@The Angry Goat - Force - PRE APPROVED [needs Sample post]
@clanjos US Ace - PRE APPROVED [CS needs finished]
@Dblade26 - Iron Fist - PRE APPROVED [CS needs finished]
@Simple Unicycle - Daredevil II - ACCEPTED

@Pleek - THE Nicholas Grey - PRE APPROVED [needs Sample Post]
^^^^ For this one, focus more on being a celebrity and less on being a racer? He's a lot like a corporate hero in my JLU RP...

This is a damn good looking cast so far guys and gals. Anybody gonna reimagine a character that isn't street level? I don't want Thor to be the only big gun or person who can fly and throw cars... LOL

-00492
@Simple Unicycle Looks good so far, I'd accept it but I've still gotta read some parts. Waiting for my kid to get to sleep...

@Dblade26 Love the look! I thought the black on his jaw was sideburns but they're somehow part of the mask. If I micro this guy I'm gonna have to fix that LOL

-00492
I need to do a relationships sheet but I'm gonna throw some random views on people in there just for whatever's sake. @Afro Samurai and I had discussed Bulleteer and Shazam knowing each other and crossing paths in Fawcett, and it's gonna be hard not to have an opinion about a walking clay monster cyclops.

-00492
@Unknown100 Not yet, still in the middle of moving. If I have time this afternoon I'll try and get one worked up as much as I can.

Any time I copy/paste stuff with any links or coding into a piratepad it makes it disconnect more often than not. I'm waiting to move furniture, tv's, and electronics into the new place till this weekend but getting everything else together and sorting through all the clutter is a big task trying to figure out what I can throw away and resell.

<Snipped quote by The Angry Goat>

My sheet was accessible. It had clear headers of the sections. And I did shorten quite a bit down. Tbh, I am use to much longer sheets than that one. For me that is as brief as you're going to get from my normal standard. I am sorry if others are too lazy to bother reading it. Sounds like this was meant to be a Free Roleplay than a Casual one if someone doesn't want to accept some extra details to make the character come off with their own voice and alive.

I've never RP'ed in Free in my life, however I'm not going to read through multiple paragraphs when I asked that the Bio be brief. Casual standards are defined on this site as being:

Roleplay here if you enjoy writing at least a paragraph or two, character development, and some depth. Grammar and spelling are encouraged. Generally one paragraph (a few sentences) per post. See individual GM for RP specific standards.

I designed Weaver in the mind of a Fan Fiction Anti-Hero. Um he started off originally as a RP character. The RP died because the GM jumped off the face of the planet. I continued the character in Fan Fiction. He has a sort of love hate relationship with Spiderman merely because of what he embodies to Weaver.

@Member 00492

Oh goody. Do you think you could have a look over the original sheet and see what I need to adapt to make it work for this RP?

From the looks of it you had this character created for other games and stories, so saying I don't appreciate the time people put into these is a bit ridiculous. You put time into it for another game. You posted the CS as it was ORIGINALLY, and mentioned above you'd be willing to 'adapt' it for this particular RP. Then you outright refuse to adapt it in any way and have the nerve to say this RP belongs in Free?!?

As a GM I reserve the right to not have to spend twenty minutes reviewing one sheet for a Casual standards RP. It's why I only dabble in Advance once in awhile.

Wow, that sounds really pretentious.

And it is. I'd never sign up for an RP, post a CS, then tell a GM he can accept it as is or not at all. I'm not that hard up for players.

-00492
@Member 00492

What does that mean?

The length of the CS is way too long from the powers down to the Bio that isn't so BRIEF. It was all caps for a reason LOL
