*Starts a new corner for us savages who drink Instant Coffee*

It's going to be called the Freedom Corner.

Deal with it.
@SouffleGirl123

Approved, jump on in.

Just curious, which part of Aus? I have a relative in Rockhampton, but she's originally from Airlie Beach.
@Dynamo Frokane

So you still gonna join up?
@SouffleGirl123

Absolutely
Joel had remained sitting on the bench across the street as the helicopter descended and then settled on its gear. To his surprise the pilot had actually cut the engines and parked as if it were a car. The big chopper blocked traffic in both directions and its apparent handlers were making sure no one got close to it or the frantic throng that exited from the side facing the record store. Joel couldn’t see any of it other than the paparazzi crowds the overflowed past the nose and tail sections. He took out his phone once more and thumbed the tail number into a search engine. Vencorp International the result shot back even with a few photos of the very machine. He knew of the company and his brow furrowed slightly. Kind of an odd place to be landing the company chopper. He thought. Then again maybe they really liked jazz at Vencorp.

His merry train of thought was interrupted again however as someone inside seemed to have quickly drawn the ire of the assembly. Booing, hissing and few colorful shouts were audible even from where he was sitting. The person on the microphone seemed to be arguing back and forth with the unruly mass. Joel could only see a little past the nose, but the pilot seemed to be getting nervous and began waving his hands at one of the coat and tie security detail. The voice on the microphone changed abruptly followed by a panicked uproar. Joel sat up slightly and looked around. The whole block was getting riled up. A man with no jacket stomped angrily across the way to the older SL Mercedes he’d noticed earlier. As much fun as it was witnessing the rich and affluent have their “jazz” night ruined, he was beginning to wonder if something legitimately serious was happening.

The voice on the microphone changed again. This time distinctly female. It was too muffled for him to understand against the background noise. For a moment he thought he heard his name before it happened...

RANDOM EVENT

The clamoring of an old fire alarm suddenly rattles through Swan Songs briefly after Marinalia hijacks the microphone cutting her off midway through her tirade against the Perfect Posse. The type of old alarm that rattles the teeth down to the nerve. The noise is beyond deafening, it’s nearly painful to those confined within the small record shop. Not far after the alarm, overhead sprinklers burst to life spraying the jazz patrons, but oddly enough those sprinklers positioned over Rupert’s prized record collections are not functioning. Chaos ensues. Sol City Fire & Rescue are dispatched and are now in route.

GM Update 2

Well here we are, 3-Weeks Operation and as promised here's your second GM Update. Let's get right down to business:

1. Membership: We had a strong push last weekend and made it up to fifteen total characters, which is awesome and we almost doubled our player base in less than two weeks. The goal for Alexus and myself was always 20-25 minimum and we're tracking that direction nicely. I think if we hit those numbers we'll probably need to appoint another GM. I think we're also right at 100% participation, meaning everyone that has submitted an app has posted at least once in the OOC. With that in mind, I have noticed we tend to hit a pretty brisk pace from time to time here in the IC and I don't want our slower posters to feel like they're being left behind. I am a slower poster so don't fret, you are not being forgotten. We are not planning to close the current event for a while still.

2. Expansion: Hitting on this point again with membership, we have a holiday week coming up so Alexus and I are planning on hitting the ad blitz pretty hard. I'll probably bump/refresh every IC we have ever put out until I get told to stop. Holidays, at least in my experience, tend to be when people bite the bullet and jump-in as they have a little time on their hands away from work and school to read, catch-up and complete applications. As always, we ask for your help in this. Even if you just post a status about the game it helps us immensely. Good OOC plotting and chats keep our game at the top of list in the forum which, as I have noticed, is HUGE here.

3. Second Characters: I know this one has been on everyone's mind and Alexus and I have discussed it. Second characters can work for and against an RP for various reasons. Right now we're going to open this up, but with the condition that the second characters be FEMALE because the current character balance is skewed towards the guys. For a while we were worried we would have to change the name of the game to Sausage City, so no male second characters right now. The only other stipulations are your second character cannot be related to your first in any way. Also, no RPing with yourself, please.

4. Random Chance / Character Protection: When we made the game we said pretty openly that we were going to be throwing in random events to spice things up and keep things interesting. Since it looks like we're starting to hit our stride here, expect some of those things to start happening (cue evil laugh here). As an extension of that, if you would like your character(s) to be up for random events on a individual level, please let us know. I want to come out and ask because I've been in games where the GM's did not make it clear that they were going to be screwing with people's characters on a spectacular level. A character is a time investment by a player and some people don't care for having to write for situations that they have no interest. On the other hand, some writers love random events. I was never in the latter category myself, but if you are then that's great and we'll be glad to accommodate you. Volunteering for this will not gain your character any advantages in the game, its just for plot movement, nothing else. Just remember events can be both positive and negative for your character.

5. Future Planning: In the last GM Update (OOC, Page 9), we were planning to do Thirsty Thursdays in Corona Park, but seeing as how the current event has become slightly more a drinking occasion than a jazz occasion (which is fine, btw), we've decided to hold on the next event being Thursday night for fear of essentially doing the same thing twice. Right now our plan is to have one short "open" Wednesday night and then a longer Saturday that will also be open, meaning there will be no set event for either of those days. Players will basically be free to roam and do whatever they so desire so think about that in your planning. We would advise also playing some of our unused locations. Just a suggestion. What you'll also notice in these two days is a significant amount of foreshadowing of future events in the game.

That will do it for now, we're not planning to do another time skip for a bit or at least until the current event plays out a little further. Once again, be sure to let us know your thoughts.

@PrinceAlexus

Do not be crass, sir. Bridgey McBridgeface was a proper name deserving a regal landmark such as this.
Map is updated with a few new locations. We need to name our River here.

New Location:

Matthews Bridge
Named after the first commissioner of Sol City’s public works, Mortimer Matthews, the four mile long Matthews Bridge connects the Western Shore to Southside. Before the bridge, Sol residents on either side were forced to take a lengthy commute through Center Point taking no less than an hour to compete with heavy traffic. The bridge is a point of pride and of aggravation to Sol City residents as its architecture still welcomes sailors up to Old Harbor and the city core but can be jammed with rush hour traffic morning and evening.
@PrinceAlexus

That's about how I see it. I don't want us to turn into Nation Roleplay Lite.
@aladdin_sane, @PrinceAlexus

I'm a little hesitant on political figures in the city administration tbh, the reason being is I fear we'll be taking a step down the old road of if this, then that, which I have seen kill games plenty of times. This isn't a "No", I just need to think about it and talk with Alexus.

The NPC for your character is fine though.
