Nolan hummed disappointingly though he was not going to hold it against Ariella; it was a large crowd and chances were her mind was elsewhere. He could not blame her if it was, not everything that happened while he was away. All he could ever hope for was for her to find some enjoyment tonight, despite the pall that was cast over them. No, what caught his attention was his brother barely holding himself together. He knew it all too well, the kind of shock that a night of violence could have on the mind and the aftershocks that came after, but he would not ask him about it right now. There were too many eyes, too many prying ears, and loose lips.

The young lord had placed his empty glass down though made no attempt to get a new one. It was far too early in the night to become inebriated and he certainly held no desire to make a fool of himself once again. He searched the ballroom with arresting green eyes to take stock of the guests when his gaze fell upon a new entrant, Count Emil Schmidt. The hairs on Nolan's neck stood up like a dog's hackles. How long had it been that anyone elicited this sort of dread from him? These instincts that had kept him alive for so long that he thought had dulled were screaming at him that this man could barely be described as human.

Nolan glared at the man from a distance. He knew damn well that he had to avoid someone like him for the sake of his siblings; they could not afford to have anymore negative attention on them, not after what happened in that pub.

His attention though was brought back to Drake with comments about their sister and could only chuckle in response. She probably would have fallen flat on her butt if she heard that her dear little brother finally started to gain a romantic interest in others. Drake though then asked a very pertinent question, one that brought upon a hesitant expression and another slight blush. "I-" Before he could finish, he was interrupted by the herald announcing Mr Kazoo the Skip Meister.

"I beg your finest pardon?" he asked incredulously.

Nolan watched in stunned silence and with raised brows. Just what the hell was that?! Who in the fresh hell enters a royal ball overseen by the king himself like some sort of jaunty fool? It was so outlandish that a part of Nolan could not help, but to respect it just a little if only for the fact that it must have irritated King Edin to the tenth degree. The man was the whole circus though he would be lying if Nolan said he wasn't jealous of the self-confidence and lack of regard for the opinions of others.

It had been such a distracting sight that Nolan had hardly paid attention to what Drake suggested. "Hm? Oh, yes, sure — Wait, what?" Realization sucker punched him when he registered what he just agreed to. The loving hand of his brother coaxed him along the ballroom floor before he knew what was going on because Drake knew damn well that if given the opportunity Nolan would have been skulking around the corners of the room never leaving his shell. No, instead he threw him into the deep end.

Before he could protest Nolan was soon standing in front of the Varian royals, their knight, and another noble woman. Why was the air so tense between this group? What the hell did Drake unknowingly push him into? Nolan briefly shot his brother a look. They were most definitely going to have words later.

His muscles felt as tense and stiff as a board. There was always an awkwardness to meeting new people, but the added weight that two of them were royalty certainly was of no help. Well, he met Marina, but he had no idea who she truly was! It was really times like these that he would have rather stayed in his office with a book.

"Um, hello there. My apologies if we are interrupting." He greeted them with a polite smile. "We offer our humblest greetings and respect to the royal family of Varian. My name is Nolan Edwards, youngest child of Duke and Duchess Edwards of Soralia, and this is my brother, Drake Edwards, eldest child and heir. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He bowed with a practiced grace that had been drilled into him by his mother.

The young lord shifted his gaze back to that familiar pair of violet eyes. "It's great to see you again, Princess Camilla. You look..." He trailed off. How did she look? There were so many ways he could say it and yet, even in that split second he struggled to put it to words. How was it he could be so well read, so bloody educated, and still fail to find the words to aptly describe how she looked? Nothing he could think of did any justice towards her.

"You look lovely tonight," was all he could say. His lips curled up into a warm smile that met his bright green eyes. "Very lovely." Perhaps that was the only word that could capture her so succinctly.

A sudden surge of awareness washed over him that he may have let his attraction towards her slip in front of her brother and her taciturn knight. Perhaps he should go easy on the wine lest he lets something else slip. "I, uh, I hope this night has found everyone well so far. Have you all been able to enjoy your stay in Caesonia?" asked the young lord in hopes of shifting the topic.

It had done Basil's heart some good to see that the herb shop had a line that extended outside of its little shack walls. He made a mental note to go and check back on it whenever he decided to return to the village to challenge Archie to a gym battle... Though what on god's green earth was that smell? It smelled like the rear end of a Venasaur. Basil's yellow eyes watered and he could feel his nostrils begin to turn. His answer quickly came in the answer of smoke rising from behind the shop. Basil walked around and found the man that he was looking for toiling away at a boiling cauldron with his Cleffa...?

Was that how he made his potions? It seemed like it could have been stream lined a bit more so there wasn't so much mess, but he was not one to question it.

Basil waved back at the Cleffa and approached Earl with a friendly smile even though he could feel tears welling in his eyes from the fumes. "Well, yes, but that wasn't my main focus. I'm actually here for you," explained he. The young noble turned back to Anise and gestured towards the potion master. "Anise, this is Earl. He's a bit of an alchemist and the one who actually developed the products for the herb shop. I just provided the berries necessary. Earl, this is Anise. She's the disciple of the Redcoast Gym Leader and my travel companion. I'm helping her with her own quest."

"You see, Anise and I are going to head off soon. Things happened and we both realized that we need to train hard before we tackle our next challenge though I wanted to extend an invitation for you to join us." Basil cleared his throat, feeling a bit awkward for offering an invitation to travel with him even though they only just met. He had a good feeling about Earl though. Something told him he would be someone worth having as a friend and traveling companion.

"I think I am a bit of a magnet for... oddities. I genuinely would not be surprised that if you traveled with me you'll find mystical herbs for your brews. However, it would be dishonest of me to say that travelling with me doesn't have an element of danger to it. I've earned the ire of a criminal group that is experimenting on Pokemon, which is why the cops are swarming the village." He motioned his hand in the general direction of the poor police officers that were not used to the pollen of the village.

"I wouldn't blame you if you refuse; it'll probably be dangerous, but hey, pressure is the mother of innovation. I think your skills would make you indispensable and, well, I also think you're a good guy at heart and I think you're quite interesting." He offered Earl a kind smile before he chuckled.[color=8493ca]"Also, I think if you stay here you are going to actively drive away business."[/color

@PlatinumSkink

Well, that happened.

"...For the record I didn't think my idea would be that far off though it makes sense to plant it back at the shrine," stated Basil with a sheepish grin though he looked puzzled. "Do we still want to go and see Dr. Dustan then? At this point we already know what we need to do, unless you think you need to know what Landorus is trying to calm down. There were two more of them after all."

The young noble crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "And whatever is going on with that girl and now this thing with Stella and other artificially boosted Pokemon. There's no way that two groups like that aren't operating independently from each other; they must be aware of each other's existence if they are not different parts of the same organization." He hummed frustratedly before he opened his yellow eyes, his brows knitted together. "It all comes down to the same issue though; we need to get stronger, plain and simple."

A sigh parsed his lips. "I don't particularly feel ready to take on the gym leader here yet even though I know I can make use of the type advantage; I'm not that much stronger than when I faced Lorette. Well, before we decide everything I think we should head back to the herb store. If he's still there, there's someone I want to ask to tag along with us for the journey."

The Shehzade may have had a point, each person's relationship was as different as a flake of snow though he was reading quite a bit deep into it. Magnus chuckled and said, "Shehzade Farim, I was merely complimenting you two. You and the princess are an adorable couple though I appreciate the sentiment." However, his reassurance had done nothing to curb their interest away from finding him a suitable partner. Farim had a certain level of delicacy that his partner certainly lacked. To be asked by a princess of all people directly if he preferred women with large bosoms was not what he expected.

Magnus flashed a rather sheepish grin at the happy couple. "Oh I'm not that dull. I certainly do have my preferences though I think you would find it even more boring." He glanced over the crowd of people dressed in clothes that were beautiful and decadent. "Someone curious, someone kind, someone that has a desire to create and the ambition to see it through. If you were to present me with someone beautiful, but vapid and cruel or someone average in looks, but brilliant and kind, I will pick the latter without hesitation. However, I am not arrogant enough to say that I am above the allure of beauty."

He couldn't help, but to laugh at himself. "I know it sounds hypocritical as I preached the virtues beyond beauty though if I were to find someone that had those qualities and a pretty face then I would be a rather happy man."

Magnus crossed his large arms together and glanced back at Sylvia and the rest of the Varian royals around the room. "By the way, if you think Princess Sylvia is intimidating you should meet the rest of them. They are an impressive bunch."

His brother had all of the subtlety of an airborne brick careening through a window. Of course, he knew that Drake had only the best of wishes for him even if took too much enjoyment in teasing him. However, he had asked a very pertinent question: just how did he find himself in the eyes of a princess? Just what was going through her head at that time? Out of everyone in that museum, why did she approach him? Or maybe such thoughts were pointless?

"I really do not know," finally said he, his hand gently pushing Drake's off his shoulder. "It is as I said, she approached me. One moment she wasn't there and the next she was." Marina was a mystery to him, one that he could not help, but to be curious about. The concept of her intrigued him; she was more beautiful than any of the finery in the palace and she knew it, commands everyone's attention with her performance of herself, and aggravatingly clever and mischievous enough to get one over him. Yet, she can be just as flustered and taken aback just like anyone else. It only deepened his desire to understand the other facets of her though there lied the problem.

"I'm not sure what strategy I'm supposed to have. What is one supposed to do when the one in times like these? Is it as easy as just walking up to her and asking for her company? To share meaningless little exchanges just to speak to her? It's... vexing." Nolan was about to take a sip from his glass only to find it empty.

His green eyes followed Marina's line of sight and fell upon another flash of red hair much like her own. This was very likely her brother, one of the princes of Varian. He struck a very regal figure with a countenance to match as princes are prone to though there was only one thought that went through Nolan's head: What the hell was wrong with him? Nolan had seen that sort of body language before, that stiff alertness that came from hyper vigilance. He had seen it because that was how he used to live every single day, that constant stress to look over one's shoulder gnawing at the gut. The Varian prince looked like he wanted to be anywhere other than here.

And then there was Marina herself. Nolan would profess that he does not know her that well, but something about her wasn't right. Or maybe the reality of her was more complicated? Whatever the case, that brief moment of hesitation in her step had not escaped his notice. He also held no doubt that he had not escaped her knight's notice either though he'd cross that bridge later.

Nolan returned his focus back to Drake. "I have no objects if you want to tell Ari, but if you do at the very least give me the courtesy of having another drink in hand. I fear her teasing will drive me to drink. Speaking of..." He watched the door as they announced his older sister. An audible sigh of relief passed his lips to see that she was doing somewhat okay. This could not have been easy for her, not after everything that had happened. Oh, he knew how she must be loathing being dressed up like a doll by their mother, to be in this gods forsaken hall. He smiled at her and gave her a wave with a white gloved hand.

His gaze then fell upon her bodyguard, Nik. Nolan had nothing personal against him, yet, though as far as first impressions go he looked like a bar fight and one of Lottie's romance novels had a child and that knight was the result. Still, he cared little as long as he did his job in protecting his sister though at the very least she had no complaints about him so far so that was enough to put Nikolai in his good graces for now.

Was this woman trying to get him killed? No, had he been that obvious? Sure the woman he described sounded like Ranya, very much so in fact. Still, if Kira knew Ranya by name then she should have been well aware of just how ferociously protective her brothers were and just how dastardly her uncle, the Grand Vizier, was. Or maybe she did and she enjoyed watching him squirm. And the worst part? As soon as she mentioned Ranya, his eyes followed Kira's gesture and fell upon Ranya and lingered just too long to call it a casual glance.

"So she is, so she is." said Askel with a smile. It would have not done him any good to deny the fact that he was enchanted by Ranya right in front of her brother, rather he could only imagine the misunderstanding that would arise. Lying was something he found quite distasteful; the only reason he had kept his mouth shut for as long as he did was because he understood the weight that his beloved carried though now he understood it better than he could have imagined.

Thankfully, Askel was not the only subject of Lady Kira's teasings. He smirked at Aslam and an earthy chuckle rumbled from his throat.

"He'd be in good company. I've already spotted quite a few eyeing my sister up with licentious eyes," stated Askel in jest, partly. While Aslam had a certain level of freedom beyond that of Ranya, he was not free from hypocrisy. He held no objections to the Shehzade's potential affections towards Marina though he certainly would if Aslam disagreed with the knight-prince's relationship with Ranya. Even Aslam, fiercely protective as he is of his dear sister, could not deny the hypocrisy when he was in fact one of Marina's potential suitors.

Askel's gaze focused on her and Lucian with Ambrose ever in their shadows. It was such a familiar sight and yet everything about it was wrong. Sophia should've been by his brother's side, arm linked with his and her bright laughter cutting through the noise. No, they wouldn't even be here; they would have been at home with their child and Askel would have breathlessly told them about his journeys, the friends that he made, and introduce them to the love of his life.

But she wasn't there, only the ghost of what once was and what could have been remained.

Sophia would have loved Ranya.

His gloved hand fiddled with the bracelet on his wrist, hidden beneath his dark sleeves. Bits of clay that he molded and carved to make the friendship bracelets that Marina insisted that they must have, each piece representing each of them. Between his fingers he could feel the one he made for himself, a blade.

However, a distraction presented itself to him; Lady Kira looked... off, despite how relaxed she appeared to be. He knew it himself, that feeling of being on edge. "Lady Kira, you look... uncomfortable. Are you quite alright?" Inquired the prince.

That was a typo.

There was not much else to do than, well, to just walk around. A totally normal thing to do at a park. She would walk towards the rather impressive manor, pristine in its maintenance and handsome in matters of taste. While one would typically go inside, she would not be able to help herself from noticing that there was a rather loud commotion going on behind it.

She would eventually find herself standing on a patio paved with stone that then stretched out into the rest of the garden. One could just sit down and enjoy the view with a cup of tea and maybe some pastries if one were to go inside of the manor and bought some.

Except it was absolutely bloody bedlam. People were rushing around frantically to set up the party. Tables were being placed, lights were strung about, a dance floor was in progress of being put together, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. One could only imagine seating arrangements for the guests, the menu, and the entertainment that had to be put together. Frankly speaking, the employees looked like they were just a step away from being whipped. The one responsible for it was plain to see or to be more accurate, heard.

"No, you dull end of a Slowpoke I told you to hang the lights higher up! Are you trying to blind our guests? And you! Yes, I mean you, you Rhyhorn brained idiot! The tables must be arranged as so! Do you want them to be sandwiched together? And where in the hell is my cup of tea?!"

Evelyn would have followed the onslaught of abuse and eventually found the source: a man in his early 40s dressed in a gray three-piece suit with an equally gray tie, black shoes, and maybe not surprising, but a white carnation on his breast pocket. His black hair was slicked back neatly and had sharp grey eyes that commanded authority and at the moment, exasperation. Next to him was a short, elderly gentleman dressed in a gardener's attire holding a pair of gardening shear that stood with a cheery presence in contrast to the stressed individual.

The gardener's gaze fell upon Evelyn with some sort of recognition, as if he understood that she was a trainer, and with a smile he motioned for her to come over.

What does she do?

For the sake of brevity and to get Archie out of this God forsaken farm, a summary of events that unfolded will be provided. After confirming who the suspect was, Archie would chase after the criminal and after narrowing down and defeating him in a Pokemon battle was able to apprehend him. Why did he do this? A combination of rotten luck and gambling debts though there was something off the way he spoke. He wasn't selling the Pokemon, he was sending them off to be sold by someone else and whoever was doing it had strong armed him into it. When asked who he was working for, a straight answer was never provided though one thing was certain: they were dangerous.

Back to scene!

Archie and company stood as the cops had Danny, the thief in cuffs, the blue and red lights lit up the otherwise mundane ranch. Neil looked at him not with disdain, but disappointment. "I told you what I told everyone else that I hired, this was your second chance."

His ex-employee chuckled regretfully and shook his head. "Not everyone can be so lucky. Just... I have one last favor. Lend an ear?" He leaned in and whispered something into Neil's ear, eliciting an expression of puzzlement and mild surprise. "Believe me, it's better this way."

A few moments later, Danny was sent away and now everything was just as it was. Neil and his wife, who had returned as soon as she was informed of what happened, discussed something privately among themselves away from Archie before Frida approached him with a kind smile on her face. "You were a big help Archie. I'm sorry that you were put into such harms way though. After discussing with my husband, we want you to have these."

Archie received x5 Moomoo Milk

"And, well, we want you to have this as well. I think we can trust it with you." She handed a Pokeball to the little hero. If he tossed it he would find out he received...

Neil's towering form soon approached him looking quite perplexed. "I don't agree with what I am about to do, but Danny said that it would be better in your own hands."

Archie received a USB?

"He said that if you want answers then there is someone in Frostfjord that can do something in that, a friend named Josiah." He crossed his thick arms and looked down at the boy with evident concern. "Stay safe out there. I am getting an awful feeling about this..."

Frida slapped her husband's back for being so foreboding. "Have a safe journey Archie and if you need any help, our daughter is traveling just like you. She should be in Florasong by now with a couple of friends."

So, now what?

Connor stopped to look at the budding, if not a little bit crazed archaeologist, with a look of exasperated disbelief. "Help first, questions later."

Sabine knelt down and propped Clarissa up with her arms though found that she was a bit too heavy to pick up on her own. She gave both Nils and Valerian a stern look. "Hey, princeling and pretty boy, don't just stand there! Help me get her back to her feet if she can." Once they started to help to get the psychic back up with whatever support they needed, she asked, "How's the head? That looked like a pretty nasty fall."

Frankie's attention, meanwhile, had been stolen away by something. "Hey, do you guys see that...?" He pointed up just above the walls. Standing on top of those black walls was a quadrupedal beast with white fur looked down at them with red eyes. It had a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. It had a horn that curved like a scythe protruding from the top of its head.

Pokédex Entry #359 – Absol, the Disaster Pokemon. It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger. Because of this Pokémon’s ability to detect danger, people mistook Absol as a bringer of doom.

"Sol!" It began to leap from ruined structure to ruined structure, but at the pace it was going it would be enough for everyone to follow it.

What do you do?

"Oh, yes. Actually, everyone should be gathered in the arena already. Just take your first right and you will find the corridor that leads down to it." After following the receptionist's instructions, they would find themselves at a pair of double doors. She pushed open a pair of doors to reveal an indoor arena with several battlefields. The battlefields themselves were standard dirt fields though there were panels with various buttons by each field.

There were some kids that looked like they belonged to a class, but there were a few that looked like they were guests. They sat further away from the kids. One was a grumpy looking red headed looking boy who really looked like he didn't want to be there. He gave off a very fiery aura or in other words, a hot head.

Sitting by him was a flashy looking young man with pink hair that reached the bottom of his neck, wearing any number of accessories. One could tell right off the bat that he exuded a bubbly aura and highly excitable, kind of like a dog.

Then there was a rather plain boy with medium-longish brown hair sitting between the two boys. He reeked of mediocrity, as if he was just the essence of an NPC distilled and given flesh. He looked very uncomfortable with where he was sitting.

There was also Jason, that blue haired boy that was just at the professor's lab.

On the battlefield there were two trainers standing opposite each other. One was a girl about Claris' age with long wild blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail pinned with feathers in her hair. Her gray-blue eyes crackled exuberance and stood with confidence. From the other side was a woman in her mid-thirties with an aura of self-assuredness and elegance of carved ice though her lips curled in a warm smile. No matter what though, Steph could tell that they were not students; they exuded sheer strength.

@Zarkun
Meanwhile, Jason would recognize Steph from the lab as well though not her companion.

Standing between them was a woman who when she looked up curiously at the sound of the doors opening, looked up at the new entrants. "I'm sorry, you just missed the demonstration. Can I help you two?" Asked the woman.

"I believe they are likely here for the school's challenge," announced the old woman with a mischievous grin. "Now, with three promising trainers wanting to take part it'll take a large portion of the day. Now, how should we solve it?"

What do you two do?
