Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Ten years ago was the day.

Ten years ago was the date where a peaceful day was shattered by the sounds of destruction and death.

Ten years ago was the day when the Inverse showed the world what kind of monsters they were once again.

And yet, even among the flames and death, even during such a terrible tragedy, it is said that those who survived felt a reason to cling on to hope.

That a glowing maiden, shining like an angel, had filled their hearts with the will to go on.

That she was the only reason they had survived the ordeal.

It's been ten years since a sudden attack by an enormous swarm of Inverse struck the city of Aoyama, and today it would be hard to believe that it had been attacked at all. A bustling locale with a more sedate residential district and a busy market and business district. It was likely that the only reason for such rebirth and growth was the generous Arcadia Corporation, which had stepped in to help rebuild after that tragedy ten years ago.

No-one knew, even today, where such massive numbers of Inverse had come from so quickly. No-one knew if it would happen again. All that could be said for certain is that the Inverse are a danger to humanity. An endless danger, that so many have worked to stop for so long. Could another massive attack happen again?

Is it possible? Could that day, ten years ago, occur once more?

Would a shining maiden appear once again to fill the suffering with hope if it did?

So this is going to be a Visual Novel Style RP, where a "main character" goes through different routes based on choices made. This includes romantic choices.

As a result, characters will be more important varying by route so I intend to give everyone a lot to do. I'll also endeavor to make everyone relatively important in every route even if they're not the focus. Due to how this RP is structured, I expect everyone to have a hand in the plot, NPCs, and villains as well.

Everyone who's playing already has some information about the setting, but I'll include a quick breakdown of some of the basics as well.

  • Es: Es is a form of energy naturally produced by all living humans. Most humans have relatively small amounts of it that is used up daily, then replenished during sleep. Losing all Es is lethal, but as humans replenish it nightly it's unlikely to happen naturally.
  • Evokers: Humans with enormous amounts of Es, they are able to activate and wield the shards of ancient weapons known as Relics. If a whole relic was obtained, they would even be able to wield it as well. Evokers are believed to be history now, as none have been seen in the modern era.
  • Inverse:: A varied group of supernatural beings that are incredibly dangerous to humanity. They come in many different shapes and sizes, from more recognizable creatures to more esoteric ones. They all lack their own Es, and feed off of humans to gain it, and all have a forcefield around their bodies that cannot be penetrated by conventional weapons. Humans can also become Inverse, albeit humanoid and with incredible powers, in a process known as Inverting. This is not public knowledge.
  • Relics: Relics are ancient weapons that come in many shapes and sizes. Examples include Caliburn, Vajra, Mjolnir, and many others. These relics are largely lost, now, existing only as shards. Even so, these shards are incredibly powerful, and can become weapons in the hands of Evokers. Relics can also pierce the forcefield around Inverse, making them a weapon capable of destroying the creatures.

Kino

Kino watched as the strange undead man proceeded to collapse into dust in order to... travel? Was it some kind of technology, or something he could simply do?

"I hope he doesn't get sucked up," commented Hermes. For a few moments, Kino didn't understand what the motorrad meant, and she gave him a quizzical look, cocking her head to one side as she did.

"What do you mean, Hermes?" she asked, confused at the vehicle's response to the dead man's dust transformation.

"If someone has a vacuum, he's in serious trouble!" declared the motorrad. For a few moments, Kino simply stared at him, then had to stifle a fit of laughter. Hermes thought that someone was going to be vacuuming out here? Admittedly, the absurdity of his comment was exacerbated by the mental image of that dead man's dusty form being sucked into a vacuum cleaner, and then bursting out of it as he reformed. It was, quite simply, far too silly.

"What's so funny?" asked Hermes, genuinely not understanding why Kino had begun to laugh. The dark-haired girl waved her hand.

"Nothing, nothing," she asserted, "Let's go."

Taking Hermes by the handlebars, she began to walk onward... and it wasn't long until she found a strange assortment of individuals, all gathered around... some kind of food stand? She could smell the sizzling meat more intensely here...

Sakura Kyouko

Kyouko narrowed her eyes, ignoring the panicking girl behind the counter as she turned to face the ma... the robot. It was a robot that had put its hand on her shoulder. That explained the colder, metallic feel, but... some kind of ridiculous robot?! Well, regardless, he was going to earn the same response that anyone else would have.

"A stranger putting their hands all over a young girl is going to look pretty creepy, aren't they?" she asked, narrowing her eyes once more as her gaze fell upon the robot. "Besides, this is mine! Get your own."

She gestured to the counter. But honestly, unless he was fast enough, she was going to snatch up more takoyaki, and whatever else this place had to offer. The girl behind the counter was a pushover, there was no way she was going to be able to stop Kyouko from taking what she wanted, and no-one else was going to stop her.

"B-b-but you didn't pay for it! It's not yours!"

And then...

Misaka Mikoto

A few different things happened at once. Mikoto advanced towards the thief so brazenly stealing from the girl's food stand, when another person teleported into view. That was... there weren't many teleporters. So how...? Before she could return to taking on the thief, or trying to figure out what was going on, someone else joined the scene.

The woman who approached appeared to be in her mid twenties, with long black hair and red eyes, clad in a kimono herself. At her side there was a sheathed katana, and on her back there was what appeared to be a naginata. Though really, the most striking thing about her was...

Horns. Even with all the other strange things Mikoto had seen so far, a human-looking being with definite horns was... unexpected.

"Boss! You're back!" exclaimed the girl behind the counter.

The woman, identified as 'Boss' raised an eyebrow.

"... All these people... Champions, I suppose?" she commented, with a tone of mild irritation, "It's not as if I don't value new customers, but acting like this..."

She sighed, but then a curious smile came to her face.

"She must be at it again."

I'll be posting to move things ahead tomorrow. ^^;
  • Name: Arturia Pendragon
  • Class: Saber
  • Appearance: "Ex..."
  • Abilities:
    • Strength: A
    • Endurance: B
    • Agility: B
    • Mana: A
    • Luck: A+
    • Noble Phantasm: A++
    • Magic Resistance: A
    • Riding: B
    • Charisma: B
    • Instinct: A
    • Prana Burst: A
  • Noble Phantasms:
    • Excalibur - Sword of Promised Victory: An incredibly powerful and holy weapon, a sword that is impossible to break(though this is because it's a Noble Phantasm as well as... being Excalibur). Its most powerful ability is to unleash an immense blast of prana which is capable of killing an immense amount of targets or destroying an entire fortress. She cannot simply repeatedly fire off this this ability, as she lacks Avalon, which gives her a vast amount of prana with which to use for Excalibur. She is also unlikely to use it if there's a risk of collateral damage or killing allies. At most, she could manage one shot per day if there's no risk of collateral damage or killing allies.
      Invisible Air: Invisible Air, which is capable of becoming a sheath that renders her second Noble Phantasm invisible. It can also be used as a projectile.
  • Personality: Saber is strong-willed and stubborn, as well as very brave and utterly determined. She suppresses her emotions in most situations, though social situations often bring out her insecurities. She considers herself as a knight first, before anything else. Saber holds little mercy towards opponents. As the king of knights, she has a strong sense of honor. In spite of this strong personality, Saber can become shy and withdrawn in regular social situations due to the previously mentioned insecurities, and it is not too difficult to fluster her. She has a deep sense of justice, fitting the legendary King of Knights, and acts respectful to honorable and just opponents. Saber has a deep adoration of good food, very eager to eat any that is given to her. For all her regrets, Saber still possesses a strong sense of pride in her kingship and her knighthood, proudly bearing the title of the King of Knights. Even in all her regret, she will never give in on her ideals and never sink below her morals. She is a knight, through and through. ... That being said, regardless of her insistence that she is a knight before anything else, Saber is often a rather silly girl, easily embarrassed by some situations and naturally drawn to depictions of lions.
  • Other: N/A
Giant mecha are off limits because it'd be impractical to include them.
Interest!
That'd annoy her but not start a fight most likely. ^^; So much better option.
@Lmpkio: I figured, it's Kyouko that would start the fight here though given it's the only IC reaction I can think of for her. ^^;
@Lmpkio: Um, I'd like to say maybe picking up one of the more aggressive characters(assuming her picked up Kyouko) might be a bad idea since I'd really rather not have a fight break out with everyone in the same spot like this before the exposition even happens. ^^;
