Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

@KoL: Oh yeah, need to remember that for my next post. ^^; Right now she's just super mad.
And so Vita has been introduced.

She is so good at talking to people in a way that will calm them down.

So good.
Mordred

"... Eeeeh?"

So much was happening so fast. A little girl, a little girl dressed up in some kind of fancy outfit, had now approached them. After a moment, Mordred realized just what that outfit reminded her of: The Einzbern girl! The pale one, not the tanned one. Definitely not the tanned one. Illya. That outfit reminded her just of the Caster's look. Certainly it wasn't an exact copy, not by a long shot, but it left her wondering if this was another magical girl. Unlike Illya, this magical girl seemed like she could be an enemy as well. Mordred raised her sword, placing her free hand on the hilt as she did, gripping her weapon firmly in both.

"I wasn't planning on hurting anybody, but if you wanna fight I'm ready!" she declared, boasting a somewhat vicious smirk for a moment. Mordred was hardly about to complain about a fight, but a nagging voice inside her pointed out that the magical girl seemed like she'd rather talk and hadn't actually attacked yet. "... Besides, I'm arming myself 'cause I just got yanked away from lunch to get dropped off in a damn park."

There. That was talk, right? Of course, any further developments in that... conversation were immediately cut short when a massive swarm of moths descended upon them, spraying some kind of powder all over the place and encircling all four of the people present.

"... Tch."

It didn't take a genius to figure out that these were some kind of trash-tier(in Mordred's opinion, at least) familiars spewing out some kind of poison dust. In the middle of a park, huh? Without a care in the world about who it could get to, huh?

Her 'temporary Master' had the right idea. The dust wasn't too useful against a Servant, but anyone else who was around here...

"Gladly!"

Placing one foot forward, Mordred felt power surge through her limbs like fire as she triggered one of her inherent capabilities, prana in the form of red lighting surging around her body as she suddenly put on a burst of speed. Red light flared around Clarent's blade as she suddenly cut a swath into the swarm of moths in an instant, their bodies vaporized by the sudden flash of destructive magical energy. Of course, there were plenty more moths where those came from... Mordred turned on her heel and cut another blazing path into the moths with a flash of crackling red energy.

It'd take a bit, but she was confident she could destroy all of them. Or enough that the bastard behind it would come out to play.

They'd be a hell of a lot more fun to kill then these pests.

Vita

... Where?

This was a park. But it wasn't the park she'd just been in. For a few, stunned moments, her braided pigtails swaying, the redheaded girl looked about frantically. But there wasn't anyone there.

"Hayate?" she asked, blue eyes wide. She'd been alongside her just a moment ago and now... now... The tiny redhead stared. Hayate was gone. So was Signum and Shamal. And this wasn't even the same park as she'd just been in.

Anger began bubbling fourth in her heart. Someone had interfered. Someone had done something to take her away. To take her somewhere else. To pull her away from those she most cared about...!

Vita, Cloud Knight of the Hammer, grasped the armed device hanging in its standby form from around her neck.

"Let's go, Eisen!" cried Vita. She was going to find whoever was responsible.

"Yes sir!" responded the Armed Device.

Almost immediately, she was consumed in red light. That familiar sensation flowed through her body as she was clad in Knight's Armor, her current outfit melting away to be replaced with one made for battle. It was topped off with her treasured hat, and the moment the light faded, Vita's diminutive frame was once again clad in the dress that was her Knight's Armor. Gripped in one hand was Eisen in its activated form, a long-handled red and silver mallet gleaming in the light of the day. Without a moment's delay, the tiny Cloud Knight immediately ascended, air whipping past her as she took to the skies.

Either she would find Hayate, or she would find the one who did this and beat them into the ground until she was returned to Hayate's side. Either way, she was going to get back to Hayate.

Tearing through the skies, however, revealed to Vita something that she couldn't ignore. There was a fight. Two girls, both of whom appeared to be magi, against a man who seemed to be firing some kind of jewel shards.

"Grrr..."

She was an agent of the TSAB. A very new agent of the TSAB, but an agent regardless. And so she couldn't ignore the fight that was already well underway. Abruptly, she slowed in the air before immediately putting on another burst of speed, tearing through the air towards the fighters before coming to a halt.

"What the hell are you doing?!" she snapped, immediately. Negotiations, or really anything that involved just talking to the enemy, were hardly Vita's strongsuit. Not only was she already enraged, but she quite simply had no patience even at the best of times.

@KoL@Dezuel@PKMNB0Y
Vita is... if not my actual favorite, one of my favorite Nanoha characters, and overall one of my favorite characters in general. She's even my namesake!
@KoL: Well it's a good thing we have plenty of people with experience averting the Apocalypse!

... Also where to drop the red loli of rage. Hmmm.
  • Name: Vita
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "There is nothing in this world that Cloud Knight Vita and her Iron Count cannot break!"
  • Personality: To say that Vita has a temper would be quite an understatement. She is quite easy to anger, quick to strike out with violence, especially if her hat is damaged in any way. Perhaps it is because all the anger in her body is condensed down into such a tiny frame. Speaking of which, she often becomes angry if referred to as small, or treated as a child, and yet she is also quick to claim that she deserves more food(especially sweets) on account of being a 'growing girl'. She is, of course, not actually capable of aging. When it comes to fighting, Vita absolutely refuses to retreat even if her own life is on the line, fighting aggressively and violently to the bitter end. The only way she will back down is if the lives of close personal allies and friends are at risk if she does not cease to fight. She has a tendency to speak her mind when it comes to just about any subject, regardless of how rude doing so may seem to be. Irritable, blunt, and violent are excellent ways to summarize Vita's personality, but she has a childish side befitting of her appearance and a deep sense of loyalty to her friends, especially her mistress Hayate. Her determination to never back down is driven by this loyalty, any threats towards her friends(especially Hayate) likely to send her into an absolute rage. Additionally, Vita has a strong sense of confidence in herself, boasting that there's nothing in existence that she can't break. Thus far there has been little to prove her wrong on that account.
  • Brief History: Initially, Vita was an enemy of the TSAB, seeking to supply the Book of Darkness with Linker cores to fill its six hundred and sixty-six pages. However, this was not due to her nature as one of the Wolkenritter and instead it was because the Book was sapping Hayate, her Mistress's, life away and had left her paralyzed from the waist down. After a series of conflicts, she eventually aided in the defeat of the Book of Darkness's berserk defense program and became a part of the TSAB herself, along with her Mistress and the other Wolkenritter.
  • Universe of Origin: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
  • Equipment: Hayate is a mage, specifically of the Belkan variety. As a result, she carries with her an armed device known as Graf Eisen. Referred to as Eisen by Vita, in its dormant state it appears as a miniature red hammer on a necklace. When activated it becomes a duel-headed mallet with some resemblance to a mechanized polo hammer. From this state, it can transform into a number of different forms. First among these is Raketenform. Raketenform causes Eisen to develop both a spiked tip a a rocket on the back end, allowing for barrier and armor penetration as well as wide, powerful, spinning strikes. Secondly, there is Gigantform, which enlarges the head of the hammer into a single, enormous, octogonal mass of steel. This can be used to grow the hammer as much as Vita desires, including many times larger then her entire body in order to fight massive opponents. Finally, Eisen's most powerful form is Zerstörungsform. In this state, Eisen's head grows truly gigantic, with an enormous rocket on its back end and a massive drill tipping the other side. Highly destructive and capable of piercing even the toughest of targets, Zerstörungsform is something of a trump card for Vita.
Additionally, once activated, Eisen clads Vita in her Knight's Armor. Mundane forms of damage, such as bullets, are almost entirely useless against her armor, and it provides a sturdy defense against attack(as well as looking stylish, thanks to Hayate).
  • Abilities: Firstly, Vita is not a human mage. Instead, she is an ancient magical construct, one of the Wolkenritter initially created to protect the Book of Darkness. In spite of physically appearing to be an ordinary eight-year-old girl, Vita's body is much stronger and more durable then one would expect. Gruesome injuries can be healed rapidly, even if she is impaled or loses large portions of her body. Attacks on her linker core(the source of her magic and also her existence as a construct), her head, or destruction of too much of her body at once is her biggest concern in terms of potentially lethal damage. In spite of her nature as a magical construct she is also vulnerable to pain and exhaustion, as well, even if she has an enormous level of endurance.
As a Belkan mage, she possesses a number of different spells. The majority of these spells are melee attacks, amplifying her capabilities by use of magic to increase the power behind her hammer. Key examples are Raketenhammer, which causes her to spin rapidly to build up force before striking with Eisen's Raketenform, and Zerstörungshammer, which is similar but uses Eisen's most powerful form and a downward swing instead. She also possesses a pair of projectile spells: Schwalbenflug, which conjures several solid iron spheres that she strikes with Eisen and which explode on impact with their target, and Kometlfiegan, a similar attack performed with a single huge sphere and Eisen's Gigantform. Finally, she possesses several barrier spells, one creating a field, one appearing only in front of her, and one creating a dome or encasing her entire body depending on its use(the later renders her incapable of movement, however). These are all effective defenses, but not unbreakable.
As are nearly all magi from her universe, Vita is capable of flight.

@TheFake: Accepted.

@Grey: Hmm, okays. Accepted.
"Oh?"

Of the two items that the merchant had offered to her, the notebook caught her attention immediately. So she could hide her drawings until she knew they were ready to show off? No-one could come barging in and looking at her unfinished work again? For a moment, the young girl was caught up in the merchant's rhythm. At least, for a moment. Remembering herself, the girl folded her arms with a huff. Even if Vivienne didn't want to make it obvious, she knew that some street merchant types wanted to swindle people out of their money rather then sell anything worthwhile! If he was that type, catching him in the act wouldn't just be for her benefit, but the benefit of everyone in this town!

"That notebook sounds great!" Vivienne declared, "But I want to see a demonstration before I buy it! I-ah?"

Mister Silverwood had acted so quickly, and it didn't take long for the princess to figure out why. The thief had returned, apparently being pursued by some sort of automata. The blonde girl's frown returned, and her attention was quickly pulled away from the merchant entirely as she turned towards the intrusion.

"As a Princess of Felbar, Vivienne Felvarre Croix," she began, "I cannot condone thievery! Hmph! No matter what happens, don't let her escape, Mister Silverwood!"

Moriya Suwako

Suwako blinked, and cocked her head to one side. Moments later, her hat blinked as well. He was just up and leaving? Just like that? Well, that wouldn't do. He was the first person she'd seen in the outside world who was identifiably capable of feats beyond humanity in some way, and that meant that he was her best chance of figuring out why she suddenly found herself so far from home. And so she didn't allow herself to lose him in the crowd. No, the small blonde girl was quick to follow the boy, her hat bobbing along through the crowds as she easily kept pace with him, coming to a stop only when he did as well, quietly peering around him as she did.

She was greeted with the sight of a positively massive man, adorned with an almost literal mane of white hair and a pair of enormous horns. For a few moments Suwako was silent. Not because she'd never seen anything like this, but because she was surprised to see someone like this in the outside world. Things were growing more and more unusual by the second! Normally this would have seemed quite fun to the diminutive goddess, but she was starting to grow concerned. She didn't like being too far from Sanae, either. But Sanae was a good girl and would hopefully be just fine until she got back.

Regardless, the hulking man didn't appear to be aggressive in the way. More confused, if anything. He had a strange presence to him as well, not unlike some sort of spirit or yokai. Or both, perhaps.

"... Wow, he's huge!" declared Suwako, brightly. In spite of the thoughts on the tiny blonde's mind, that didn't stop her from being somewhat in awe of his sheer size at least. He was like some of the biggest oni, except she was pretty sure he wasn't!
