Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

The year is 2032.

Throughout human history, there have been incursions by the Phase. A strange, alien race of beings located in a dimension out of line with our reality, the Phase are impervious to conventional weaponry entirely. A single touch from the Phase causes a catastrophic chain reaction, the human body rendered into a fragile glass-like substance that soon crumbles into tiny shards. History has proven that, time and time again, any attempt to stop the Phase has ended in tragedy. The only saving grace has been the rarity of their emergence: Decades can go by without a single sight of the Phase.

And yet... in the last twenty years, there has been a sudden increase in Phase incursions. More and more Phase have emerged into the world and wreaked havoc, their attacks costing countless lives before they disappear as suddenly as they came. These newest attacks have most frequently surfaced in the nation of Japan, and it is for that reason that certain dark, secret projects have resurfaced.

The RELIC system. Using the ancient relics, even degraded as they are, as the catalyst to clad those on the appropriate wavelength in anti-Phase armor and equip them with weapons operating in both our reality and the out-of-phase sublayer inhabited by the Phase. A secret project designed to bring humanity's future into sharp relief, to provide a future for the human race.

A weapon to destroy the Phase.

But using the RELIC system is not so simple. Only those who operate on the appropriate wavelength and can properly communicate with these ancient artifacts and be clad in radiant anti-phase armor. Only girls known as Tuners can use the system. Extensive tests were conducted, every possible outcome studied, but only these girls can wear the Relic System made to destroy the Phase.

It is for this reason that the Kondo Academy for Girls was established, a girls school both intended for education and to gather potential Tuners for the use of the projection.

The Special Disaster Recovery Agency, known as SDRA, secretly constructed a base beneath the Academy, in order to monitor any potential candidates...

It's also a place of education for those who are already a part of the project.

But even in spite of the confidential nature of the Relic System, can it be truly said that the SDRA and the Japanese Government are the only ones privy to knowledge of the system itself?

Or even the only ones who have those who can wield it?

Will you become a Valkyrie clad in legends?

So, this is a new, heavily-Symphogear-inspired RP!

It's basically Symphogear, for that matter. ^^; The only reason it's not actually Symphogear is due to how heavily involved music is with the series I believe it's impossible to do as an RP proper.

For anyone who doesn't know about the series that I used as inspiration, this RP will be a high-impact, fairly serious(but mostly not particularly dark) magitech magical girl RP mostly based around fighting strange extradimensional monsters known as the Phase. Naturally, you'll be playing as the girls using the RELIC system, some who have not yet learned about their potential and others who are already part of the project.

Additionally, I'll be allowing people to play members of SDRA as well as friends of the RELIC users, and on top of that I'll also allow antagonists(whose details will be revealed privately to those players) to be played, though there will be some limitations on their ability to post for a period of time.

Additionally, @Raineh Daze will be my co-GM for this RP.

  • Phase: Bizarre extradimensional beings that obsessively pursue humans soon as they materialize in the world through "cracking air". Indeed, on their appearance, the very air seems to break apart like fragmenting glass. This is the way the human eye perceives their entrance into this reality. Upon their entry, Phase appear as strange, semi-humanoid or animalistic, brightly colored shapes. Upon any contact with a human body, that human's body is converted into a glasslike substance which soon cracks and breaks apart. Only those clad in the RELIC system can touch them without being killed. Due to their out-of-phase nature with reality, conventional weaponry cannot harm them. Only the RELIC system is cable of damaging a Phase. Phase are categorized from least to most dangerous, ascending from TYPE: WOLF, to TYPE: KRAKEN, and finally TYPE: DRAGON.
  • RELIC System: Relic Energized Linked Internal Computer, or RELIC, is a system utilizing ancient artifacts to form a suit or armor and weapons capable of resisting and destroying the Phase. These artifacts heard of only in legend have most frequently degraded to the point where they are absolutely useless on their own, but when a Tuner equipped with the RELIC system aligns with a relic this internal energy is converted int a suit of armor and weapons, that are used to destroy the Phase. The system also allows for special, named attacks that are more powerful then normal blows. (Given this is basically Symphogear, I fully encourage people to come up with attack name cards)

I have no idea what you don't understand as I've tried to be clear in the OP and I'm willing to answer questions.

I do in fact expect you to remember things, or at least reread them to get a refresher on what you're doing before you make a post.
Vita

The trip had given Vita chance to calm down, at least to some extent. She had no intention of forgiving the man for destroying her hat, but eventually she had realized that it was likely best to cooperate with the JSDF for now. After all, that was the usual course of the TSAB, though... something seemed off here. It didn't stop the tiny redheaded girl from sitting and pouting the entire drive to the National Diet building, seated beside the blue-haired girl who had wielded an energy sword of some nature. She had reverted to her usual clothing, in this case the white skull t-shirt with the black skirt and striped stockings. Ideally, the coming meeting would would show Vita the path back to Hayate's side, the place where she belonged...

... And the answer after the meeting had concluded was both yes and no. Yes in that she now understood the situation, as bewildering as it was to her. No in that it didn't give her any clear path at all. This was not the universe she called home. Somehow, through some form of powerful magic perhaps, her and several others had been transported to an entirely different universe. One that did not natively hold any kind of magic. One that, against all odds, depicted everyone here in works of fiction.

After the initial wave of shock and confusion, the tiny redhead felt herself stewing in irritation. Not only was she taken to some other universe, as far from Hayate as seemingly possible, but they had produced this kind of thing about her, about Hayate, without even knowing of her to ask her permission? It made her angry and confused at the same time. On one hand they didn't know she existed, but that didn't mean they should just make this sort of thing recklessly, did they?!

However, Vita wasn't so annoyed that she didn't pay attention to the offer the man was making. Even if this was an entirely different universe, the TSAB made a point of cooperating with local governments(in part so they'd willingly step aside when the situation was beyond their ability to handle). This case should be considered as just the same.

"... As a representative of the Time-Space Administration Bureau," Vita begin, stepping to her feet, "I'll cooperate with your offer until this whole thing is averted and everyone is returned to their proper universe. Hmph, whoever did this is going to p-"

And then one of their number fired off a volley of lasers into the walls and screen. Vita immediately gripped Graf Eisen and prepared to transform, but before she could go any further he had already run out into the hall.

"What the hell was that?!"

Mordred

Mordred couldn't exactly recover from the perplexed stare she gave the female soldier, who had now fallen silent after her 'temporary Master' had asked about Menomaru. At least, until she heard the shouting over the communications system. That jolted the soldier out of her thoughts almost immediately. And then when her superior whispered in her ear, well... that left her looking quite nervous before she returned her attention to the red knight and the others.

"... Er... well... Menomaru?" she paused for a moment. To her own admittance, she didn't know as many anime and manga from before 2000, but she seemed to recall her father watching an Inu Yasha OVA at some point that featured a character with the same name... "I think he mgiht be from Inu Yasha? I never watched the series myself... er, I mean, I guess from the universe Inu Yasha was accidentally based on? That... must be how that works er..."

Realizing her nerves had gotten the best of her, Private Minami coughed and cleared her throat. She had to try not to explode over the fact that she was talking to Evangeline from Negima now as well. Though that wasn't as big a deal as Mordred for her.

"I-In any case, er, I know you must all be very confused!" she continued, taking a deep breath, "But I want you to understand that we want to help you in any way we can. It's..."

She paused for a moment. How can she put this? It wasn't exactly easy to conduct a briefing in the middle of a park... Oh, that was it!

"It's hard to conduct a briefing in the middle of a park! But if you come with us, we can try and fill you in on the situation. Hopefully we can even get started on getting to the bottom of this incident!"

Private Minami jutted one finger into the air and immediately winced. This wasn't going to work at all was it...

Mordred folded her arms. She wasn't too sure how she felt about this, to say the least. But at the same time she wanted to get back to her true Master as soon as possible. It wasn't like she wasn't in the least bit thankful towards Evangeline for volunteering herself to serve as a temporary Master, but at the same time that was nothing like being with her proper Master now was it? Besides, the method through which the contract had been forged was still... even now it made her flush a bit with embarrassment just remembering it.

"I'm all for any kind of answers you can give," Mordred replied, finally, her desire to return to her Master overcoming her wariness. "But I guess I gotta consider what everybody else wants."

Konpaku Youmu

Ah? He'd fired into the building? If anyone got hurt because of that... Youmu couldn't allow something like that to happen again! So that meant that the first thing she had to do was to destroy those weapons, cut them to pieces before they could shoot again! Roukanken flashed, slicing apart one of their guns in an instant before she swung her foot forward and brought her heel directly into his stomach, sending him hurtling backwards until he collided with a street sign, a dull 'thunk' resounding as he collapsed into an unconscious heap.

Every movement had to claim one of their weapons. Every single one. Youmu knew their 'danmaku' was hardly the same as her own. If it hit anyone, they could die! So she wouldn't let that happen, not as long as she could help it. Any single misstep here would be utterly shameful. As another of the men panicked and attempted to fire, she brought Hakuroken and sliced apart his weapon down the middle, leaving him to drop it uselessly in terror. Another gun cut apart, and another...!

She had to destroy each one!

@Rockin Strings: I've grown tired of this.

I feel like you consistently haven't actually read the OP or the other bios and aren't putting any effort into making your characters fit into the RP, as you still don't get why matters such as character age are significant or what races are playable in the RP.

In short, I'm beginning to think you should try to find a different RP.
... Er... no.

A part of the setup is that Fanilly, the current captain, is considered very young even for a knight, let alone a captain. She's sixteen.

Fifteen just doesn't work.

Did you really read the OP or the other bios? ^^;
@Crusader Lord: Accepted.

@Rockin Strings: It's... not really.
It wasn't necessary to handle the troll near Fanilly. Only the fact that magic was backing up the barrier of ice prevented it from shattering, merely warping its shape. The true destructive potential of the thick, purple beam of magical power became apparent as it was deflected. Beneath it the ground blazed red hot, solid rock liquifying from the sheer intensity of the magical attack. The troll was engulfed in an instant. Its entire body, skin, flesh, bone, was vaporized in that moment, leaving nothing but a fine mist barely visible to the naked eye. The beam rent its way back towards the treeline, only stopping once it struck the earth itself. In its wake it left a scar of molten rock in the terrain, and a glowing pit at its destination.

Fanilly's eyes widened in shock. Of course, she knew magi were privy to all kinds of spells, but orcs were no magi. And that was no ordinary spell. You didn't have to be a magical expert to know that it was an incredibly powerful offensive spell. And it had been aimed directly at her. It was hardly as if she'd never been in danger, but somehow... somehow this felt different, somehow this felt like...

... Like that time before she was Captain... that time where she... almost...

The blonde knight shook her head.

"Sir Tiral!" she called, "Thank you for the cover! Iron Roses, do not allow another spell to be fired from the treeline! Be vigilant and ready for anything!"

She tried not to make it obvious her voice was shaking. Fanilly was the Captain of the Iron Rose Knights. If she let them notice how frightened she'd become... She couldn't. She wouldn't allow any damage to their morale. No matter what had happened, they were still winning! The Orcish forces were fading fast. Some of them had fled the battle entirely, and the lingering orcs were falling to the Roses.

Heading once more into the fray, Fanilly tried to keep the matters at hand in mind. A magical attack had been mounted on her, but she had already noticed... Sir Indrau? And a pair of other knights had approached the forest. She couldn't allow herself to be distracted in battle for too long, but she had to ensure she didn't lose sight of another potential magical assault. If a beam that strong had struck the bulk of the Roses...

An orc fell dead as Fanilly cut through its throat and upper body, leaving it to hit the ground. Another was pierced through its chest as it raised its weapon, but now the target was the trolls. The trolls had to be slain as soon as possible!

The knight whose life Tyaethe had saved struggled to his feet.

"I... I am fine, Sir Radistirin! I-agh!"

He staggered. Though his face was concealed, by his voice it was likely the oldest knight in the order would recognize him as Sir Avlin, a relatively junior knight who had joined the order in the years after the defeat of Phoran Cal. He was a skilled fighter, but it was clear he had not been prepared for a blow from a troll. And from how he was holding his leg, it looked like he had sustained an injury bad enough to inhibit his ability to walk.

"... Ah, damn, I had to open my mouth, didn't I...?" he commented, with a hollow laugh.

The trolls' numbers had been cut again. Another lay dead, another blinded and wildly flailing, slaying several orcs as it trundled towards the knights, seeming only to locate their location by sheer bloody-minded murderous intent.

For the remaining four, one was still advancing towards the ridge, as the others battled the knights. Ultimately, it was the knights that were approaching victory. The strength of trolls was at its best when they were allowed to rampage, able to bring down crushing blows before their foes could react, fear keeping their enemies from reacting quickly. Eventually, however, the mighty beasts would fall.

At the treeline, the spot at which it seemed the beam had been fired from seemed vacated. But, burned into the bark of a tree and glowing a faint purple was the image of a simple heart.

Eyes wide, Lyrie stared in horror at the battlefield. The beam that had erupted from the treeline had burned through the earth, annihilating one of the trolls in seconds. And... had it been aimed at her cousin? The girl had never experience a battle before, let alone against trolls, let alone with the sudden intervention of high-powered magic. Could she help anyone here? Was she any use at all? The small girl shuddered, clutching at herself as she sunk to her knees slowly.

"Wh-what use... c-could I be here? I-if anyone's hurt will... will I even be... be able to..."
