"Go do whatever you want, I don't care."

——————————————————
Christian's House

Jackson felt a tighter grip around his arm and it was either something was wrong or some asswipe was looking at Miki and he had to step in. He did not want to pull attention to it since that was never something he did, he looked at Miki and watched her let go of his arm and he stood there seeing what she was ought to do. Her eyes stopped following her once she started scanning the place, he quickly pulled and looked down at his phone to see if there were any notifications he cared about, nada. He shoved his phone back in his pocket after realising that Juno was not here. Why... Why had he fallen for her? He hated that he had feelings for her, especially since he did not want to act on it since he knew he would just ruin that like every other relationship he has been with. He hated that-

A well manicured hand held out a beer in front of him and he was snapped back into reality. Miki handed him a beer and this was probably the best thing he could do. The biggest lightweight in all of Liberty then chugged the beer like he had no plans of living tomorrow, he looked at Miki and said,

"Listen," He leaned forward and placed his hand on her shoulder, he gestured into the crowd and continued, "Go on and do whatever, you don't have to babysit me..." He looked at the empty drink in his hand and shrugged, "-yet at least," He then looked her in the eye and gave her a genuine smile, it was not big by any means but it was a Jackson smile at least, "Just make sure I end up at home or yours." He said.

He then crossed his arms and practically tried to shoo her off. Before he realised, a guy planted a kiss on his cheek and immediately went to hit the guy straight in the face, this was not something Koreans did. He was about to scold the guy but after hearing that familiar voice call out to him he decided to let it go.

"씨발!? Don't do that!" He yelled out punching his shoulder playfully but still pretty hard, he then watched him talk all Rico like to Miki and he placed his hand on the guy's forehead and pushed him away, "Off limits." He mouthed, in the usual threatening manner Jackson usually did things. The invitation for shots was something he definitely appreciated, and he definitely was on board with, "Alright, alright, I'll do shots... Get outta here, I'm talking to her." He said before turning back to Miki.

"That was my tour guide. He's pretty fucking weird." He said with a little chuckle in his voice.

Enrique could not take his eyes off of Ellie; the way she was moving, the way she looked, she was as perfect as she could have been and it made him loathe himself even more. He wanted to lose himself even more. It wasn’t until he felt Jo’s hand on his forearm that he was able to snap out of his daze and acknowledge her with a look.

Hop on the mic? Is that what she just said? Rico would be lying if he said the thought hadn’t crossed his mind when he first arrived. The DJ was good and he was throwing out some great tunes but in his experience there was nothing like a live act. From both sides of the stage, on and off there was a raw connection that could only be felt when performing and being performed to. One could reach out and touch the world and the world could hold your hand back through the medium of love music.

There were few people who understood this in Rico’s bubble but Jo was one of those few. They had shared a stage and a mic many times during the summer and he had even coached her a little. The girl had talent but just needed someone to push her in the right direction, luckily or perhaps unluckily for her, Enrique was just that sort of bastard.

”Oye, JoJo. You wanna play on that stage? We can make that happen, mi estrella” Rico did his best to clear the cobwebs in his mind formed by his indulgence in cocaine and booze before carrying on. ”I’d say make yourself look pretty but you’re already looking diez perfecto. Go sweet talk the DJ, think about what you want to sing and I’ll go find a guitar. Sound good?”

Seeing that look on Rico’s face after suggesting such a thing made Jo’s face light up, she knew he was on board before she even asked, but of course, being Jo, she had to ask. Rico then started to explain his plan, and Jo could not help but smile.

"Pretty? Yeah! With my totally existent femine charm." Said Jo, she knew she was not exactly the most girly of girls, especially being part of the main roster of the women’s basketball team. "But hey! I’ll give it my best shot, you go on and find that guitar." She said practically shooing him off.

She fixed her hair, and tried to keep her drunkenness from affecting what she was going to say but she knew it was not exactly easy. She quickly fixed up as much as she could and went over to the DJ. She looked the man on the turntables up and down and started with.

"Hey! You’re doing a great job!" What the fuck was she saying at this point? Great job? What is she, this guy’s mom? "I mean… I… I like the way your hands move on those spinny thingies- turntables." Alright, maybe she is hammered.

As this weird interaction goes on, she sure hopes that Rico is doing a better job than her.

As Jo headed off on her mission, Rico let out a great sigh. He had to get Ellie out of his head and music was probably the healthiest escape route he had. He darted through the crowd of drunk teens, doing his best to avoid meeting eyes with his ex. He wound up somehow upstairs; moving from room to room doing his utmost in his current state of mind not to trash every inch of them whilst he hunted for a six string.

He didn’t know much of their host Christian as the guy was a Liberty but from what little rumours he had heard, the kid was into music, which meant that there had to be a guitar somewhere in this McMansion. As he began to feel that his journey was fruitless, Enrique found one more room he had yet to destroy and sure enough, there they were; multiple, beautiful, sleek axes of varying types.

”Fuck yeah”

Now came the hard part of deciding which guitar he would steal. It would hinge on what type of songs Jo would want to sing. He thought back to their summer duets. Her voice was quite soft but there was a power to it, there was soul. Electric guitar was definitely not the way to go. He grabbed a gorgeous looking piece and slung it over his back. Time to do work. He began to hurry down the stairs when he noticed Jo at the DJ decks.

”JO! I GOT ONE!”

"-I know, hey, just hand me a few mics okay?" She said, giving the guy a few pats on his hand before she turned to Rico. She saw him holding the guitar and she quickly made her way over to him. She looked at the guitar and thought about what they could do for a second.

"So… What do you have in mind? You wanna do Bailando or something?" She asked, she was pretty much down to sing anything as long as it was tasteful of course.

It was not lost on him that he shared a name, a vocation and a passing resemblance with one Enrique Iglesias and he had heard pretty much every joke that could be made when he moved to Ohio seven years ago. It was also not a rare thing for people to request he sing the famous Latin idols songs. Hell a lot of the time he did for the lolz and tonight would be no different. If that’s what Jo wanted, then that’s what she would get.

Rico tuned the guitar he was holding. Finding the right sound was a difficult task. Ask any of his friends that would watch home zone out mid conversation as he worked on getting the strum just right. He looked up at Jo and did his best to stop his eyes from watering. ”If you wanna do Enrique then I say let’s take it old school. You know Escape? I can do that acoustic and alternate the Spanish, get the DJ to add a few beats too. Could be sick”

Joanne nodded at Rico before gesturing with her head to follow her, she made her way to the DJ station and told him to hop on the stage next to it. She called for the DJ to help her set up everything, and he obliged surprisingly enough, was Jo supposed to pay him extra for this? She has about… 6 dollars. Hopefully he was not the type.

As soon as the mics were set up Jo looked at Rico and nodded at him, she looked through the crowd to see Sam sat there, she could not be more thankful that people like her are staying for her antics. She tapped the mic a few times which definitely caught the attention of some people. She blinked as soon as eyes were now on her and she took a deep breath before speaking.

"Didn’t really plan this but whatever right?" She looked deep into the crowd until her eyes met Sam’s, "This one’s for you." She said in a deeper voice than usual. She looked at Rico, waiting for his cue to start.

”Make sure you move, mami. This ain’t a song for standing still”

Rico made the sign of the cross as he did before every performance and took a deep breath as he began to pluck at the strings of the guitar. In a strange way, being on a stage was a sobering experience. He had lost count of the times he had been performing and was probably six drinks and four lines deep when he started only to feel sober by the end. It was likely the electricity that coursed through his veins whenever he got to do anything like this. On the floor, Enrique was a mess, on a stage, Rico was at home.

He leaned into the microphone that he was now sharing with Joanne and smiled at her. He had been pushing her for weeks to get out of her comfort zone and this was it. This was the time.

”Here's how it goes, you and me, up and down
But maybe this time we'll get it right, worth the fight
'Cause love is something you can't shake
When it breaks
All it takes is some trying”

The base then hit, the DJ even made it sound better than it originally was, which was a little feat by itself because how often can you improve Enrique Iglesias. Jo’s foot was tapping when it started and when it was her turn she was bouncing like she was the most excited person on earth, one hand locked on the mic while the other was dancing along to the beat.

"If you feel like leaving
I'm not gonna beg you to stay
But soon you'll be finding
You can run, you can hide
But you can't escape my love
You can run, you can hide
But you can't escape my love
"

”Hoy, si te vas, ya verás
Que no es tan fácil olvidar
Sabe bien, sabe mal
Como sea, pero es tan real
Que al final
Lo demás no te importa, no, no, yeah”

With a switch to Spanish, Enrique heard a select group of young ladies (and men) drop a collective squeal. It was arguably the move over thing he ever did on stage whenever he jumped to his native tongue. For some reason it drove people wild.

The crowd was obviously getting into it; the flowing mind altering chemicals probably helped but who was he to judge? He glanced over towards Joanne and it was like he could see the music flowing through her body as she moved in rhythm. She was like him, even if she didn’t know it, she belonged up here. The spotlight was meant to be hers. He looked out towards the crowd of dancing teens and began to play a little faster, doing what he could with his feet and hips to dance as he strummed away. Locking eyes with the brunette in the middle of the room, his heart began to pump blood around his body at an incredible rate as he remembered playing this song to her multiple times. Subconsciously, maybe that’s why he was playing it now; for her.

As Jo sang her heart out, she saw in the corner of her eye that she was not the only one singing for someone in the crowd. That was something they shared, that and their love for performing and singing.

"That felt amazing!" She said to Rico as the song ended, Jo gave Rico a little hug and was too ecstatic to not thank the crowd, "Hope you guys like that! My name’s Joanne- Jo Lynn, this was Rico Nunez! Have a good night everyone!" she exclaimed, albeit she was a little out of breath since she usually performed songs not as energetic as what she had just done but it was a great change of pace. She turned to Rico and nodded at him, "Let’s do this again yeah?"

She then hopped off the stage and made her way through the crowd making her way back to Samantha. As she went through the crowd, people started complimenting her and it really felt great, hopefully Sam loved it as much as she loved doing it.

”You shone bright Estrellita” Rico took a final bow to the crowd before jumping down from the stage himself and allowing the DJ to get back to work. He made his way down through the crowd of congratulatory people but there was only one person whose opinion he cares about and his eyes hidden left her since the moment he got on stage.

So this is how the rich folk live when their money is literally coming out of their ass...

Granted, this shouldn't have come as such a shock to the Texan with the dip-dyed hair. Given her accommodations since she found herself plucked from her Lone Star State roots and dragged to the frozen wasteland of Ohio, she was just a couple levels below one of them thanks to Christopher's cash. However, bank managers didn't make this kind of Instagram flaunt-story lifestyle possible.

She wasn't sure she was invited, but she didn't care if she was or not. She heard from Spice that things were going down at the football player's house and that all manner of illicit drugs were going to be on offer, so it made sense to go to sample what the Liberty kids were able to get their hands on. Melissa didn't make any calls for anything at this party, not even for booze, so there had to be a lot of candy on hand for all the kids to partake of.

The young woman pulled a crumpled pack of cigarettes out of her jacket pocket and removed one, placing it gently on her lips while she dug for her lighter. The black Zippo with the big white star on it still had plenty of energy left to produce the necessary flame. As she took a long pull from the cancer stick, plans started forming in her mind. People to check in on, the possibility of romances, how likely she could get away with picking up a souvenir should one catch her eye.

The smoke exited her lips and she breathed again. There was no need to actually overthink this. It was the first social event of the school year. People at Rosefell knew what she was about at this point. It was time to educate the upper class on just who they were going to be dealing with, at least if they wanted the goods without having to go to Colin freaking Gallagher for them.

A brief thought of putting out the cigarette crossed her mind, before being instantly discarded. She wasn't changing who she was for them, so they better be fine with the smell of nicotine on the air. Those Liberty kids better be ready. Savannah Payton was officially entering the chat.

Perhaps it was the adrenaline pumping through his body from having been on stage that was cursing him with the thoughts that were now running through his head? Whatever the cause, Rico couldn’t shake the idea; he wanted to speak to Ellie, he needed to speak to her. Dutch courage was permeating his bones and he just couldn’t help himself. He had come to this party with the intention of avoiding her but the longer the night had gone on, the more it just didn’t feel right doing what he was doing, not without Ellie by his side.

Rico slapped his cheeks in a way to try and hype himself up and knock out some of the drugs. This was his chance, the brunette was alone. He knew if Lilith was there she’d probably put a foot up his ass and she’d be well within her rights to do so. He put a hand on her shoulder and tried to offer as much of a smile as he could muster.

”Hi El..”

The Not Too Distant Past

If I fall short
If I don't make the grade
If your expectations aren't met in me today
There's always tomorrow or tomorrow night
Hang in there, baby
Sooner or later, I know I'll get it right
Please don't give up on me

The night had begun as a celebration of love; Yasmin and Isaac had been together through thick and thin and had survived high school together. Now they were in college and home for the weekend to see family and friends. Yet there was another reason, one that involved a hefty diamond ring and a certain situation where one drops to a single knee. Needless to say, the pair needed a soundtrack for their love, one provided by the Latin loverboy; Enrique Suave.

There was a pinch of sadness with every lyric sung as Rico’s own love, Ellie Roberts, was not able to watch him perform on this night as she had to work. Without her there to keep some of his more wild tendencies in check, Rico found himself downing tequila shots and beer between every song and by the end of his set, he was drowning in liquid courage and foolhardiness.

As the night grew beyond the witching hour, the lovers evening had morphed into a rave and where an air of romance once hung, now stood drunken teenagers fighting, fucking and fucking up. Freako had emerged and like an animal off the leash, he was going for everything. Every drink, he blasted. Every line, he snorted, every beat, he danced. There was no stopping him until the world itself put him to sleep. Passed out on a couch, his once pristine white shirt now covered in a combination of alcohol, saliva and maybe cheese whiz? Rico could just about make out the figure of a friend leaning over him.

”Hey yo, Suave? Yo, Rico were heading to Quinn’s you coming? Rico?! Fuck man, he ain’t coming nowhere. Queen, go tell Hunter I’ll catch up with ya’ll. Imma make sure this fool gets home” DeShawn used his mighty strength to pull Rico over his shoulder and carried him out of the party and into a quieter room.

”....Dee...you...you’re...you’re a huge fucker you know that? Like...you must be the best big spoon ever...wait am I flying? Si no te hubieras caído, no te hubiera encontrado ángel volando demasiado cerca del suelo.”

Dee shook his head. He was missing quality time with Melissa for this clown. Everybody loves Rico...except fucking Rico himself it seemed. ”Motherfucker, I have no idea what you just said but if you just tried to suave me imma whoop your ass. I swear on my beautiful mother’s soul.” He laid the drunken troubadour down onto his side to prevent him from vomiting into his own mouth and proceeded to pull out his cell; he would stay with the clown until he got him a ride or knew he was safe from himself.

Hey yo Ellie, you might wanna come get your boi. Freako out on form tonight...

Ellie found herself sweeping the floor of the Yellow Rose Diner, humming along mindlessly to the melodies of Rico’s songs that she had memorized as the last customers departed for the evening. Even though she had wanted to be there in person to watch her boyfriend perform, like most weekend nights she was on the clock. Fridays and Saturdays were some of the best nights to work as they were the busiest, which made it hard for the girl to pass up on. So as much as it hurt her to miss out on the fun she could be having, it was in her best interests (as well as her bank account’s best interest) to pick up those lucrative shifts.

The brunette felt her cell phone buzz from the pocket of her apron, and she couldn’t help but get excited thinking that it was her love trying to get a hold of her. But, to her dismay, it wasn’t from him but it was definitely about him. She felt a twang at the pit of her stomach as she read the text, knowing that if someone was telling her to come and get Rico, it was a bad night. Ellie sighed, and within minutes, she was locking up the doors of the Diner and heading out to her car to go and fetch him. As she drove down the quiet streets with the windows down and the music off, she couldn’t help but wonder what kind of trouble Rico had gotten himself into this time- he already knew how she felt about his addictive habits, but he still refused to change his ways which continually frustrated her.

It was evident where the party was happening as Ellie turned down the road, music pulsating and flooding into the endless night, guiding her path. Parking in front of the house, she sent DeShawn back a text letting him know that she was here to get her boyfriend, much to her own chagrin.

By the time that Ellie’s message had come through, Rico had all but passed out and Dee was enjoying the silence. With a great sigh, the linebacker gently shook the other boy awake. ”Yo Suave, your girl is here…”

”ELLIE!” Enrique emerged from his slumber and clawed at the air, hoping for the warm embrace of one Miss Roberts but finding instead the somewhat hairy tasting carpet of Yasmin Hazel’s spare room. ”I didn’t know they had a cat...”

”Come on, big guy.” Once again Dee found himself throwing the mariachi over his large shoulders and carrying him out of the party. He spotted Ellie’s old Toyota Camry in front of the house and swiftly made his way over. Rico was not a small guy but even now, Dee made carrying him look easy. He pulled open the back door and laid Enrique down on the back seat as gently as he could. ”Sorry about this, Roberts. Didn’t want to leave him there, didn’t know who else to call. Good luck. Catch you round the way, Suave.” DeShawn nodded towards Ellie before closing the door behind him and heading off to go catch up with Melissa and the others.

Rico stirred for a moment before sitting up like the Undertaker and turning towards his love. ”Oh, Ellie te extrañé esta noche mi amor, I was on fire tonight. I missed you beautiful.”

As soon as Dee appeared with her boyfriend hanging over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, Ellie was faced with the unfortunate reality that tonight was worse than what she was expecting it to be. Part of her had hoped he would have been able to walk to her car on his own, maybe stumbling a bit, but that was wishful thinking. With a berated sigh, she turned to Dee, putting on a brave face for show. “It’s okay, you did the right thing by calling me. Thanks, Dee.” She expressed her genuine appreciation as the boy disappeared towards their peers and she was left to see her boyfriend home.

Ellie looked up at her rearview mirror and gazed at her love in the reflection. “I missed you too, baby, but I’m going to take you home okay?” She replied, hiding any indication of worry in her voice as she put the car into drive and headed towards the direction of Rico’s house. She knew the way by heart even in the darkness, and hoped his parents would be preoccupied enough for her to sneak him in the side door without them noticing. As per usual. “If you feel like you’re going to be sick, just give me a heads up and I’ll pull over.” The last thing Ellie needed right now was to have to explain to her father why she needed her car detailed for free again…

”I am never sick!” Rico projected his confidence at all times, even in a state like he was in. Yet as with most confident people, reality has a way of biting back as it did in this moment when the song and dance man began to feel a churning in his gut. ”Just in case though..” He shuffled to the side and rolled down one of the windows, the cold night breeze hitting him like a much needed slap to the face.

The brunette girl would’ve laughed at her boyfriend’s protest had it not been the same broken record every other time she’s had to collect him from his revelries.

Watching the street lights roll by like a scene from one of arty Ryan Gosling films, Enrique shifted his gaze to Ellie; a passing car illuminating the look on her face which even in his mess of a state, Rico could not mistake for anything else than what it was. All they needed was a synth wave soundtrack and they would be in an art house movie. ”Hang in there, baby. Sooner or later, I know I'll get it right. Please don't give up on me.” He sang for a moment before stopping. These moments were rare, where a song couldn’t help a situation but they did happen.

The fresh air continued to hit the romancer with waves of sobering clarity. ”There's a song in my culture, it’s called Malagueña Salerosa. It tells the story of two lovers and specifically how the man is poor and not good enough for the woman. It’s a legend of a song. My...I...do you know what I mean? I think it’s our song….cause I love you Ellie, I really do, but I’m not sure I’m good enough for you. You deserve better.”

She glimpsed back at him once more before returning her gaze forward to the road they were currently on, shaking off his lyrics and song merely as a blackout soundtrack. It wasn’t the first time he had broken out into song while intoxicated- in fact, it was quite normal for him to do- so Ellie wholeheartedly ignored his singing as she accelerated. But the following words he spoke seemed to hit her right in the gut, and she dismissed them all too quickly. “Shhh, it’s fine. Everything is fine, we’re almost there.” The girl soothed.

Never had Rico before held any poignant truth in his drunken state, but Ellie couldn’t help but wonder, did he mean that? No, no he didn’t. He couldn’t have; they were a picture perfect couple- well, except for her continually growing disdain for moments like this- and the love they had was real. Shaking off her anxieties, she clutched the steering wheel just a bit tighter, turning on her blinker to indicate another right turn as they passed by the Rosefell football field.

He could feel his eyes getting heavier and heavier by the second but he didn’t want to stop looking at Ellie; she was his heart and to stop looking at her would be for his heart to stop beating. He was sliding deeper down the back seat and was all but ready to pass out again but quickly Rico pulled himself back up to a seated position as they got closer to his home.

As the world around him span, Enrique envisioned happier moments in his life, most of which involved Ellie. He remembered their early friendship and the night that it blossomed into romance and the last six months. Yet between those fleeting dreams he felt the pang in his chest, the feeling of something not quite right. He could see the tiredness in her eyes, the exhaustion from dealing with his burning candle lifestyle. She did not deserve to be the one to pick up the pieces of his fractured self. She did not deserve to be just another unfinished song. Ellie Roberts was a ballad of love and joy to be shared with the world and not be pulled down, torn up and left on the cutting room floor. Rico resolved to be better for her...tomorrow.

When the Toyota pulled up outside of La Munica; a gasp of breath escaped from his throat and enough sense returned to Rico’s body that he leaned forward to Ellie’s drivers seat. ”Thank you.”

As she put the car into park, Ellie turned around to meet her boyfriend’s eyes. She could tell just by gazing into them that he was not all there- the ride and the cool evening breeze having resurrected him somewhat, but for the most part he was still gone; just a shell of her love that was hidden underneath alcohol and drugs. It was what she disliked most about nights like these. “Let’s get you inside, casanova.” She tried to smirk and add some humor, but the muscles around her lips refused to cooperate as she emotionlessly unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car, ready to assist Rico stumble into the house and make it to his room in one piece.

The brunette pulled the boy from the backseat and onto his feet, slugging one of his arms over her shoulder as she began to guide him towards the side door that she had learned his parents didn’t use. It was nearly 2AM, which meant they were fast asleep by now, but she still wanted to be quiet enough as to not to alert them. Man, she could’ve really used Dee’s muscle at this moment.

It was an ingenious escape route; the kitchen to La Munica had all but become the hub of the home thanks to its central location and link directly into the family restaurant. Little did the Nunez’s know that Enrique had unbolted the side door that led directly into the pantry. No one ever checked and it was perfect for his late evening escapades of sneaking out or sneaking Ellie in. Not that he needed to, Rico’s parents loved Ellie. They loved having her round for dinner, having her taste their new recipes and her general positive presence in their wayward son's life. She was a grounding factor that they appreciated as before her, Rico was a mess.

The pair stumbled into the house as quietly as they could; at least in Ellie’s case, the drunken boy was too busy smelling whatever his chef father had cooked up that evening. ”Oh...oh babe let’s go to the kitchen! It smells so good!” He began to pull towards the cooking area, only for Ellie to act as resistance and pull him the other way towards the stairs. In his current state, Rico could not fight back. She had covered his mouth with her hand as they crept onwards; part of him thought maybe this was some new kink she had learned, which of course he’d be down for, Suave would try anything once but alas it was not the case as a small slither of logic slipped into his brain and told him he was probably just being too loud.

Once the hand reached the top of the stairs, Rico’s eyes were drawn to a photo of his parents. It was one taken when Enrique was but a babe. A passerby snapped a young couple in love and gave them a gift for life. Pedro and Monica’s love story burned bright from the moment their eyes first met on Playa Chac-Mool beach; her, a sun kissed Goddess and him, a struggling food cart assistant. The way they told it, it was like a bolt of lightning permeating their bodies and binding them together forever. Rico was enamoured with their story and how for them, love made the world go round. It was why he would constantly seek it; it was what led him to ask Ellie out to begin with. He couldn’t help but wonder if that dread feeling that hung between him and the brunette now once also separated his parents.

By the time the young lovers had made it to Rico’s bedroom, it had felt like an eternity had passed from the moment Ellie had picked him up. There was a tension, it was sharp and cutting and it was not a nice feeling. He flopped onto the bed but managed to pull himself up to face her. Truly if angels walked among them, Eleanor Roberts was one. Enrique placed his hands upon her hips and rested his head against her midsection.

”Are you gonna stay tonight?”

As the girl stood there, relieved that they had made it to their destination without much hassle, she sighed as her boyfriend’s touch calmed her. She let her hands find their way to his head almost on instinct, running her fingers through his hair as she decided what her next move was. At this point, she was too concerned about his well-being to leave him, and not to mention she was exhausted from the tiring shift she had just worked at the Yellow Rose and didn’t want to get behind the wheel again. “Yeah. Yeah, I’ll stay.” Ellie replied quietly. She kept one hand on his head and took out her phone with the other, texting her mother saying that she was crashing at Lil’s, and texting Lil asking her to cover for her.

With the minor details taken care of, the brunette sighed as she helped Rico get out of the stained and dirtied clothes that he had found himself in. She took advantage of the placement of his arms and grasped the bottom hem of his shirt, pulling the fabric over his head. What the hell did he get on himself this time? Not even wanting to ask, she moved to take off his shoes, socks, and pants, tossing the garments into the half-full laundry basket that sat in the corner of his room. Only then did Ellie slip off her own shoes and peel off her uniform from work, finding an oversized tee shirt in her boyfriend’s dresser to throw over her head and wear to sleep. Walking back to the bed, she sat down on the edge and looked over at Rico, who’s eyes were glazing over. “Let’s get some sleep, I think we both need it.” The girl stated, her words mostly falling on deaf ears as she hid the conflicted emotions that she felt inside.

The weight of the world, the cocaine and the booze pulled Rico down to the mattress like a ton of bricks and he grumbled in compliance with his girlfriend. He put his hand on Ellie’s and guided her down next to him, wrapping her up tightly in his arms. ”I love you.” He kissed her in habit as he began to fall into lucid champagne dreams.

As the snoring began, Rico’s bedroom door opened and the head of his mother Monica poked around the frame. Ellie jumped, surprised that she was still awake, but her boyfriend didn’t budge as he was already knocked out cold.

“Thank you for taking care of him, Eleanor.” She whispered. “But it’s time to start thinking about taking care of yourself, mi amor. Goodnight.” She blew a kiss to the young girl before softly closing the door to the lover’s room behind her.

Ellie's eyes remained wide open as her head rested on Rico’s bare chest, feeling the rhythmic pattern of his breathing which normally would have lulled her right to sleep. But her boyfriend’s drunken words from earlier in the car, as well as his mother’s shocking advice, repeated over and over in her head, keeping her awake for god knows how long. One question remained in the brunette’s head as she finally let sleep come over her.

Were they both right?

In normal circumstances, Nicholas Grey would have stuck by his sister’s side. She had the tendency to attract trouble and Nicholas liked being near her to see how much worse she could make it before he had to apply a bit of his brotherly touch to act as her safety net. Conversely, she always was by his side as his safety net in case he needed a get-out-of-jail free card, especially if someone’s boyfriend or girlfriend decided he was encroaching too close on their territory. Then again, if they posed any real danger to Nicholas, his twin sister, much to his semi-approval, would deck them long before they could ball their fist up.

Fortunately, though, this was not one of those times.

Indeed, Nicholas was riding solo. But it wasn’t all bad.

As Nicholas’ blue eyes surveyed the room, seeing those engaging in the typical party behavior, he made note of those who were doing so alone and who already found like-minded souls that complimented them in at least one way that drove them to drink and dance with them. It brought him a foreboding sadness that a couple who were occupied by company had been people he thought could benefit from his company. Of course, anyone would be lucky to have Nicholas Grey’s time of day.

The fact remained, however, he had been standing at one of the scattered tables with refreshments made available (in the kitchen) for more than five minutes and not only had Nicholas not been approached, but he was overlooked for someone else.

And this simply cannot happen again.

Time to choose, Nicholas. And it’s best you choose wisely. Though you may have all the time in the world, your presence is a rare gift and not everyone can handle it.

So he scanned the room, searching for a suitable partner to occupy his time for a few minutes. He landed on the Queen of Liberty and her current boy toy, Jackson Park. As much as he thought Miki Park was insanely attractive and no doubt was the kind of person who knew the gift their presence would provide those nearest to them, he couldn’t help but shake the uneasy feeling in his stomach that Jackson would take an issue with Nicholas approaching, considering he damn near swatted some poor guy away.

And thus the search persisted. And it persisted until he sighed.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

“Hm?” He muttered, tipping a red solo cup to his lips as he caught the alluring sight of majestic, fiery red hair and a rather impressive black outfit that went well with porcelain-like skin, the sort of visage that brought Nicholas back to his childhood and the insane crush he had on Blossom. Then that got him to thinking about how it shaped his attraction for redheads. Nearly every single ex of his, regardless of their gender, had some shade of red, orange, or even strawberry blonde hair.

As he watched her from afar, seeing just how effortless she was in the party scene, Nicholas couldn’t help but become intrigued more and more by this nameless beauty, this girl who captured his attention from the very minute she so gracefully waltzed into his periphery.

And as the moment came when they momentarily locked eyes, though she probably didn’t see him, he most certainly caught the enticing glimpse into her green eyes.

Ah, the perfect compliment. His dark hair and sapphire eyes and her dynamic fiery locks with green eyes with an almost nurturing quality to them.

I must know her.

Nicholas made up his mind and leaped forward into the unknown, stepping closer and closer to the nameless girl. He grabbed another red solo cup from the counter as if it was choreographed by God himself. When he got close enough and they were facing each other, he flashed her his best smirk that was disguised as a less intrusive smile, holding out the hand that had the second red solo cup in it.

“You look like you can use a drink.” That line, no matter how many times he used it, always worked because everyone liked to drink. And with Nicholas’ confidence and ability to make it sound like it was the first time anyone ever heard it.

It, like him, was perfection.

Despite his aversion to the alcoholic beverage he picked up earlier, Jax had for some reason carried on drinking it. Granted he had decided to tackle it by taking smaller sips, to try and reduce the gagging and coughing after each attempt. Slowly but surely, the lone male was tackling the bottle of beer as if it was some sort of battle. He still couldn’t quite get over how people actually drunk this stuff for pleasure. His throat felt like it was on fire and covered in some kind of thick tar.

Still, as the alcohol started to get into his blood, the dullness began to take hold. The tips of Jax’s shoulders: normally pointed up out of anxiety started to show signs of relaxing at the edges. A small, giddy smirk started to tug at the edge of his lips. While he wasn’t drowsy or out of it, his brain certainly made him believe he might be. It was at this point he noticed Stephanie making her entrance to the party, wearing something so tight, and good looking that Jax almost dropped his bottle. He had never seen the woman dressed like that before… and honestly, he kinda liked it. Okay. Liked was the polite way of saying it. His hormones on the other hand had a far filthier word for it.

Taking another swing from his bottle, just to confirm that the alcohol wasn’t making him see things (Despite the fact that drinking more alcohol to test if alcohol had made your see things made no sense), He indeed concluded that Stephanie was real. And the look on her face screamed determination. Jax had considered going to speak to her, mostly because he wanted to thank her for giving Colin a punch in the face, something that he honestly wanted to do himself, but had never been brave enough to do so. Colin had always been a pest to the male, getting in the way and just making his life a misery, when all Jax wanted to do was get to the end of the school year with the best grades, and college application material as he could.

However, let’s be real. If Stephanie was dressed like that, then the last person she would want to speak to would be little Jax, sitting on his own in the corner and drinking his first drink in history. He wasn’t even dressed as if he was ready for a party. No. She had far more important people in the social pyramid to be dealing with. With a small sigh, Jax retreated into his chair, taking yet another swig of the drink. Realising it was empty, he placed it down rather harshly on the floor as some kind of protest that he was out of a drink that he didn’t ever like the taste of. Alcohol was a really bizarre drink.

Still he had some work to do himself. Taking out his phone he opened Messenger and scrolled through the messages. So many of them were just him left on read while trying to start a conversation. He eventually reached his intended recipient: Melissa. Taking a deep breath, his thumbs would get to work crafting his message.

Hi. Nothing for tonight, but can I meet you tomorrow? I need to run something past you. I would bribe you with food or drink to come and meet me, but I can’t afford it! xD

When Jackson tried to reassure her that she didn’t have to worry about sticking by his side and that she could go enjoy the party, she was overcome with so many conflicting emotions and thoughts. Not only as the Queen of Liberty who always owned the town whenever it came to any Liberty-led party, but also as his friend. That and she promised him she’d be by his side. So she couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was going to betray him if she did the very thing that he was urging her to do.

“Jackson…” She frowned at him seconds before some guy planted a kiss on Jackson’s cheek, which was clearly without his consent. And she watched with a sense of pride in Jackson as he pushed the guy away, exploding after him.

He identified himself as Rico. If she was the type to like men, he’d certainly fit it, but then she had a moment of remembrance. This was the guy from earlier in the week. On the skateboard.

And then she couldn’t help herself as she laughed, mostly at how he was Jackson’s tour guide. “He doesn’t seem too bad, honestly,” she thought aloud, looking at Jackson. “You should totally take him up on his offer, J!” She encouraged him, bumping his shoulder somewhat. “And if he gets handsy again, you can just tell him you’re seeing me or something. Saying that to a guy like him will most certainly render any further unwanted advances useless.” She flashed him a smile.

Already fucked up, Cade couldn't help but consider the night a success. Honestly, the money definitely bought Christian a damn good party. And Cade was probably the biggest beneficiary as he had hoarded quite a bit of the liquor- but probably insignificant to the amount that had been bought. Upon reaching the cool zone of being full on drunk, and listening to a fucking acoustic guitar, the ultimate party killer, Cade decided to go outside for a bit, get some fresh air. Luckily he was still moving pretty fine, so he didn't just trample on the damn myriad of guests, although he did ruin the moment for a couple that was like two seconds away from hardcore making out.

The first thing you can notice in the backyard is the dope bouncing house. Then the pool. Then the little fucking lake. Then- holy fuck dude it can take a while to register the sheer amount of wealth sometimes. But, the most important part was the grill, which Spike was manning- that feels kinda iffy- and had quite the crowd assembled. Cade decided to light up a cigarette before approaching, as if it could slightly sober him up. Going up to the grill he realized Tyler was there and deciding to greet her quite eloquently.

"Sup? All good?"

He took a drag, blew the smoke at some rando's face accidentally and turned to Spike.

"Can I get uhhhhhhhhh a burger with basically everything you got?"

Once he had placed his crate of fine craft beer onto a nearby table; Theo took the time to soak in his surroundings a little more. The music was loud and not exactly to his taste but it wasn’t his party and pissing off his dearest host Christian was not in his best interest; so he would stay quiet. A few fellow Libertine faces dotted around the room, knocking back beer and hooking up in corners; it was important to memorise these faces and these moments, he could most certainly use them against people later.

Watching with a not so subtle smile on his face as the boy whose ribs he’d crushed but moments before hobbled off out of the kitchen, Theo cracked open his first craft all of the evening. It wasn’t so much that he enjoyed inflicting pain (though he did) and he didn’t consider himself a bad guy (although he was) it was simply just part of his game. Some people needed to be played delicate and with finesse whilst others, well they just needed a swift kick in the teeth.

After the first taste of the sweet nectar had touched his lips, the football player noted a brunette approaching him. He has never seen her before, which likely meant she was a Rosefell girl. She had dark features, a good body and a choker, he was a sucker for a choker. The look in her eyes he had seen too many times before to be dazed but it was a party and he was entitled to some fun after working so hard. Theo raised up his drink in salute to the beauty that was about to join him and coupled it with a smile.

”Hi”

Truth to be told, Lilith wasn’t the most confident person. If it wasn’t for the drugs and mild amounts of alcohol in her system, you could bet money that she would never would have been bold enough to approach the mystery boy. But tonight was different.

Tonight was the first party of senior year. The pressure was on to set the tone for the rest of the school year, and Lilith was determined to have as much fun as possible. Sadly, ice breakers weren’t her strong suit - but at least he had said hi first.

”Hi,” she replied, giving her best fake smile. ”I couldn’t help but to spot you from across the room, and I was just wondering if you’d like to grab a drink or something?”

Oh this was adorable!

She was really trying!

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that this girl was operating out of her comfort zone. In spite of her bold appearance there was a shyness to the way she spoke. In Theo’s experience that meant either there was literally nothing behind her eyes which would make this a tremendous waste of his time or it meant that she most likely had the best kind of daddy issues there were; the ones that make the good girls go bad. She was gorgeous, delicate with an obvious edge, perhaps he had a type? If all the riffraff of Rosefell was like this; there was surely a lot of fun to be had.

”I’d more than welcome the company” He could smell the weed flowing off of her and it certainly wasn’t the same shit that was flowing through the air. It was a distinct scent, her own brand. It wasn’t a massive turn off but it was food for thought. ”Theo, and what do they call you?”

”Lilith,” she stated proudly. ”Or Lil. Either way.” Glancing at the drink table the brunette picked up a bottle of Grey Goose and pondered her options for mixers. ”So how do you feel about this whole merge thing,” she asked. Small talk was another thing that Lilith wasn’t good at, but maybe her question could lead to an actual conversation.

”Lilith” She was named after a demon? That left a lot to be desired. Probably meant her parents were whacked out hippy bitches who raised her on smoke, sex and hammer horror movies. ”Nice to meet you, Lil”

She asked about the merger and Theo wondered whether he could be honest and say that the entire thing made him sick to his stomach. Having it be in the same room as some of these….”people” very much made his skin crawl. Was this the type of girl that could handle the bluntness of his opinion? Somehow Theo doubted it. ”It took me by surprise” The politician began. ”I can’t say I was over the moon when I heard about it, I won’t lie. High school is a minefield anyway and having to go through it all all over again, at a new place where most people probably inherently dislike you, not appealing. Still, I suppose it’s exciting, getting to see for real how the Rosefell side lives. What’s your stand on it?”

The way he echoed her name caused the corners of her mouth to lift ever so slightly. "Nice to meet you as well, Theo."

Picking up a bottle of pineapple juice, Lilith mixed it and the Grey Goose together in a cup as she listened to Theo speak. He spoke in a way that seemed oddly familiar - well thought out and somewhat strangely planned. It left more to be desired, but Lilith really wasn't interested enough to pry.

A gentle laugh escaped her lips as she turned around to prop herself up on a nearby counter top. "I wasn't happy either. I'm still not. Rosefell is a shitty school, and now our class sizes are even larger. Some of you Liberty kids seem to want to help tidy the place up, so I'll take it. Though most of you guys I've talked to have wound up to be really big assholes - present company excluded."

”Who says I’m not an asshole?”

Indeed most people would call Theo a lot worse than that, amongst that are a number of people he would consider friends. ”I suppose you’ll have to be the judge of that” He took a sip from his drink and took the time to admire the girl on the counter for a moment longer. ”I can’t speak for Rosefell but at Liberty, appearance is everything and it’s always been survival of the fittest. Any one you’ve met so far, they likely haven’t dropped that mentality just yet”

He edged a little closer to her, not enough to invade her space but enough to show interest and put his free hand on the counter by her. ”That’s a nice smile you have, I get the feeling people don’t see it very often do they?”

Eyes looking up to meet his, Lilith laughed nervously. ”I… no. No, it’s not.” Breaking the eye contact, Lilith took another large drink from her cup. ”Look. Small talk isn’t my forte - and while I did approach you because I was interested in grabbing a drink… I’m trying to find something fun to do. You seem like the kind of person that knows where to find the interesting things.”

Of course she wanted something; it made sense that these Rosefell scroungers wouldn’t have the class to hold a civil conversation without wanting to get something out of it. Still, he had to admire Lilith's moxy. He took another drink from his beer before responding ”Fair enough” Theo placed his drink onto the surface next to her before putting his hands in his pockets. ”There are a few options I could give you; you want pills or grass? I can get you the gourmet shit. You want dirt on your new Liberty classmates? I’ve got that too. You just want me to take you upstairs and fuck you like you deserve? I’m your man. Doesn’t really make a difference to me what you want, let me know and I’ll make it happen”

Theo's words resulted in Lilith nearly choking to death on the last of her drink. "Ya know, I was really aiming for something more like beer pong."

Her awkwardness was showing again, and the truth was she didn't really have much of a response for what Theo had said. She was already high as fuck, and she hated doing pills. There was no way she was going to sleep with him after ten minutes of conversation, or without Ellies approval. Why Lilith was shocked that Theo had returned her bluntness, she wasn't sure.

"I'm already high as a kite, I don't like gossip, and I'm not about to fuck in someone's house when I barely know said person." With her face turning a light shade of pink, Lilith cleared her throat. "I really hope I just didn't ruin this conversation," she blurted out.

Bless, she really was adorable

A shit eating grin lifted Theo’s lips and a slight chuckle escaped his throat. [color=E7C142]”Ruin? No, not at all. In fact, what you’ve done is make this whole thing a little more fun. I like it when someone can challenge my perception and I had you pegged wrong Lil. So beer pong?” He took a hand out of his pocket and offered it up to Lilith ”And if that gets boring, my place is only two blocks away. So if you don’t want to fuck here, we can it there”

As he often did, the intention behind Theo’s words were veiled and hidden behind his charm and smile. It could easily be taken as truth or in the same breath be seen as a joke. His ears pricked up as the backing music for their conversation changed to something entirely different and immediately struck him as being performed live by someone. ”That said, if you’re high enough we could dance or do karaoke?”

Thank gods, she thought.

There had been too many times where Lilith had ruined a conversation by saying the wrong thing, and she was thankful that now wasn't one of those times.

As he casually threw in the fact of how close his house was, Lilith's face turned even more red.

"Noted."

Taking Theo's hand, Lilith's face lit up at the activities that he had mentioned.

"Karaoke," she stated, already pulling him with her. "There's no way in hell I'm giving up the chance to see that."

”Lead the way”

Theo hadn’t intended on playing the sort of game he was involved in when he first got there but seeing Raven being her usual cheery self and just being surrounded by the dirty whore sons and daughters of the town riff raff made him want to cause a little trouble. Lilith was just the right sort of person to keep him distracted.

He followed the girl to the larger room where most of the other party guests had congregated to watch the performances on stage. The DJ had been switched out with a pretty blonde and the very same vato whose ribs he had tried to break for merely existing only minutes before.

”Look at this clown. He thinks it’s two thousand and one all over again”

"Gross," she laughed. Realizing that she was still holding his hand, Lilith let it drop before sticking her own hand in her pocket. "So what should we sing? Are you a… pop guy? Rap?"

”I’m whatever you want me to be” He cheesed in response.

Feeling her let go of his hand brought him an internal smile. This was way too easy. By the end of the first song she would be putty in his hand. ”Lets go, we got next” He re-took her hand again and used his considerably sized footballers frame to barge through the crowd as Rico and Jo finished their song and departed for pastures new. By the time they reached the stage, there were a few others waiting to clamber up and sing a reprise but one look from Theo and they began to move.

”Are you a girl of taste, Lil? What about Go Your Own Away?”

Lilith was more than happy to let the others go before them, but Theo appeared to have other plans. While the thought of seeing Theo potentially embarrass himself at karaoke was intriguing, Lilith was now painfully aware that she was the one who would probably be embarrassed. Ellie always told Lilith that she needed to work on her confidence; Maybe this was a step in the right direction.

”I have amazing taste,” she stated confidently. ”And I absolutely adore Fleetwood Mac.”

Glancing at the crowd, the young woman took a deep breath. ”Let’s do this.”

Talking with Melissa always lit a fire in him to get up to bad things that felt so good. Yet DeShawn had no plans on going buck wild tonight, he had promised to stay in his lane and not cause trouble. He knew that the scouts would be watching him like a hawk this year and turning up to games hanging out of his ass was not a good look for a future Division 1 Linebacker. His Uncle had made it very clear, one wrong step and Dee would be out on his ass and back in juvie before he could even blink. The big guy was doing his best to avoid trouble but Rosefell was full of temptation and he really wanted to bite that sweet sweet apple.

He had tried to catch up with Rico who seemed to be on a mission from God but the little guy was fast as fuck and definitely had his Freako on. Dee knew better than to try and stop him but he also knew that by the end of the night, he’d be the one likely peeling the guitar man off of the floor and sticking him in a Uber home. For all the friends he claimed to have, DeShawn really did believe that Enrique might be one of the loneliest people at Rosefell; he just knew how to hide it better than most.

It was that part of the night where people were pairing or grouping off and the mingling was coming to an end. Dee hung back as he so often did, just to watch over the people. To make sure that if there was a problem he could fix it. It was a role he had settled into nicely but sometimes it was a role he regretted taking. All the restrictions, all the rules he had set for him and that had set himself, he did wonder if it was all worth it. He was a kid, he should be having fun like everyone else. Yet he always stopped himself from going too far. Was he even good enough to get a scholarship? Or was it all just a pipe dream and he was destined to end up back on the corner?

Polishing off his drink, Dee headed off in search of another one. As he came up towards the kitchen, he noted his friend Jo singing on stage and he howled at her. She looked like she belonged up there. She was with Rico who seemed in a damn right better state than he had before. He smiled, for all the dark there was still
some light in the world.

As Hunter shuffled his body around the crowded areas of the party, Alina not far behind him it seemed, he couldn’t stop himself from flashing a smirk back at her. Something about the way her round face filled in nicely with the head of hair that was nowhere even close to being what he was used to just...made him feel like he could be himself again.

Which wasn’t to say he couldn’t when he was with Niki. Wade wasn’t Hunter and Hunter wasn’t Wade. But at least in this environment, she didn’t seem to be getting all up in his grill for being named Hunter.

Oh, God. Did you really just think that?

Note to self: keep self from thinking about Niki if at all possible.

Hunter needed booze. And not the kind that came in cheap, glass bottles. No, what he needed was something more in the lane of bitter and burning aftertaste. He needed friends who were dons and captains, who had Jack in their name and a nasty temper.

Smiling, he surveyed the immediate area for a moment, which prompted him to stop in front of the shorter Alina. Maybe that would cause her to bump into him, but it would only be momentary as he expelled out an approving noise.

Whether it was his excitement for stronger alcohol or what, he latched onto Alina’s hand, pulling her in a guided tug, almost running to the free table, bulldozing past those unsuspecting partiers. In this act alone, Hunter would prove two things: his spot on the football team was well-earned and that he desperately wanted to forget anything about this night.

And maybe a third thing was he wanted to make a really stupid decision with this girl he barely met.

Stopping in front of the table, Hunter’s brown eyes widened at the possibilities and he turned to Alina. “So, what’s your poison? We got Julio, we got Morgan, we’ve got Daniels, and we’ve even got some of their bastard children, abandoned in red solo cups!” Hunter eyed those cups with cautious optimism, though his current mindset was centered around four letters: Yolo. “I mean, you did say you wanted more than just craft beer, didn’t you?” He asked, nudging her shoulder in an almost playful, teasing-like motion.”

Yeah, he really just did that, didn’t he?

Fuck it! Yolo exists for a reason!

With a smug look on her face, Raven bobbed and weaved through the massive crowd of people while sending Alina a where are you text.

An SOS from Alina could mean anything. The problem at hand could be Alina’s anxiety, an issue with Niki or Caspian, just the simple need for company, or a multitude of other things. Nonetheless, Raven was prepared to help her friend with whatever it was that she needed.

Now if I was Alina… where would I be....

Scanning the crowd, Raven spotted a few familiar faces. She was interested in talking to none of them at the moment. She had a one track mind - at least she did before she spotted the drink table, and as luck would have it Alina was right beside the booze!

It was nice to see her friend's face. It was not nice to see the dark haired boy close to her. Was he the reason that Alina had sent an SOS? There was only one way to find out.

Practically shoving people out of her way as she went, Raven approached the drink table with her chin held high. Cutting right between Alina and the stranger, Raven snatched up a bottle of Patron before turning to her friend with a smile.

”Help has arrived, darling,” Raven announced cheerfully. Completely ignoring the young man, Raven took a drink straight from the bottle. ”Please tell me this guy isn’t acting like… all the other guys?”

Being a short person was not a fun thing, and Billie was painfully reminded of that as she elbowed, shoved, and stomped on peoples feet to get through the crowd.

”He better stay right the fuck there,” she grumbled, returning a glare that she was getting from one of the cheerleaders.

Billie never imagined that her first real life movie like scene would be this moment, but yet here she was with music that was too loud, lights that were too bright, and getting lost in the crowd just like some stupid cliche. The thought only fueled her anger.

Caspian had been avoiding her for weeks. He had practically disappeared over the summer, then he had appeared to have returned to his normal usual self - only for Callie to vanish into thin air and for Caspian to go back to ignoring Billie. To say that the young woman was pissed was an understatement.

Of course she wasn’t actually angry at Caspian; She was just genuinely concerned for her friends. The truth was that Billie Jean Grey cared, and in certain instances like these, she cared perhaps a little too much.

Breaking through on the other side of the crowd, Billie jerked her head from side to side, eyes wide, in a frantic search to find the Vampire King.

Climbing on top of a chair, Billie crossed her arms and scanned the room one final time before hopping down and looking out on the back lawn to see if he had escaped through the back door.

With a stomp of her foot, Billie took a deep breath and clenched her fists. She was not about to be the sad tipsy girl, but no matter how many times she told herself that, she couldn’t help but let a tear or two fall.

”Cas… you absolute fool,” she mumbled defeatedly. ”You complete and utter ass…”

The shock of someone bumping into her broke her out of her sad girl moment, her lips curling back in disgust as she scoffed and marched off in an attempt to find Nicholas.

Walking back into the kitchen, Billie threw back her head in defeat as she assessed the situation in front of her. ”Absolutely the fuck not. Nicholas Salvador Grey - we are not doing this again.

While Billie was happy as long as her brother was happy, she was damn near tired of his obsession with redheads, and to be quite frank Billie just wasn’t impressed with his next target. Nicholas could do better. Billie knew it, he knew it, and hopefully the other girl knew it as well.

Of course Billie would have let Nicholas have his fin on any other night - but not tonight. She was needy, she was emotional, and her brothers attention wasn’t about to be wasted on some doe-eyed hoe when Billie needed him as badly as she did.

Liv’s gaze had followed the redhead- now identified as Tyler Jane- to the dance floor, so she didn’t notice when someone approached her and began to strike up a conversation. Spinning around to face them, the blonde tried to hide the subtle blush that had splashed across her cheeks as a result of his compliment. She had remembered JayVaughn from class before he had even brought it up- the boy had a warm smile that was not hard to recall - but she still wasn’t used to getting attention from anyone, more specifically suitors.

The girl drummed her fingers on the granite countertop nervously, mustering a response after a few moments. "Yeah, I'm Olivia. Well, Liv." She looked down at the outfit she had chosen to wear before glancing back up at JJ. "Thank you, you're very sweet." Liv replied with a gentle smile, "What do you think of the party so far? I-"

"Alright, let's move it along now."

Almost as if his spider senses were tingling, Aiden spontaneously appeared next to his sister, slinking an arm over her shoulder casually. He had seen the beginnings of this exchange from across the room, and was already not enthused in the slightest of the impression that his younger sibling seemed to be making on their classmates. The blonde girl looked up at her brother with a grimace - why is it that he always had to intrude at the worst possible moments?

She offered JJ an apologetic expression- hopefully he could read on her face that she would have stayed and chatted if it weren't for her nuisance of a brother. "I guess I'll see you in class?" Liv stated, before being ushered away by Aiden and sternly glaring at her kin. "You didn't have to be rude, you know. He was just being nice."

"Yeah right, being nice is how it always starts..."

Christian was chatting it up with Spike and Eleazar - right up until the moment when an unnamed goddess decided to approach the grill herself.

”We totally have cheese,” he blurted out. ”I uh… I’m Christian, by the way,” he said, offering her a hand to shake while grabbing his plate from Eleazar.

Stuffing his hamburger into his mouth, Christians eyes widened. ”Dudes,” he said, turning back to Spike and Eleazar. ”These are fucking amazing. Thank you.

As a scruffy looking character approached the group, Christian waved the smoke out of both his and the goddesses face. Taking another bite, Christian thoroughly chewed and swallowed his food before speaking again.

”Don’t just blow smoke everywhere by yourself, fam. Pass that shit so we can all blow clouds.”

Tyler Jane was consumed by the music, utterly distracted and entranced by the highs and the lows of the notes and fueled by the shots she had already taken. The night was young and she wanted to soak it up for all it was worth. She had turned to venture to the kitchen, hopefully to find another drink to sustain her.

And then like magic, there was a boy in front of her extending a red solo cup in her direction.

She gave him a once over as they both stood there, time nearly stopping in the moments that she took in his outward appearance. The redhead was sure she had never seen him before - quickly delineating that he was a Liberty kid - his dark hair and mysterious sapphire eyes making an impression without him needing to say more than a phrase. It was the way that he held himself that said it all with no words- the boy practically oozed charm and a debonair grace. He had definitely captured her attention, that was for sure.

"How'd you know?" Tyler Jane smirked, brushing hands with the boy as she took the cup from his grasp, the contact like an electric shock. She didn't bother asking questions about where the beverage came from (not exactly her brightest decision, after all she was already tipsy) and the girl simply took a sip before continuing to speak. "I could never say no to a drink."

In that Jo had gotten into her hijinks, Sam may or may not have gotten slightly more inebriated. The Streamer was about as red as a tomato at this point and had just about finished her cup of whatever it was Jo had made. When Jo came by, Samantha looked up at her friend. ”Suuup. Nice song.” Samantha slurred.

Jo could not help but chuckle at the sight of her friend being this hammered, she placed her hand on her shoulder and gave her a warm smile, she took the cup from her hand and placed it on the table next to her.

Jesus, I think you’ve had enough don’t you think?” she asked, jokingly, kneeling down in front of her making sure she is okay. “Glad you liked the song though, you okay?

”I’m totally finnnee, dude…” Samantha smiled, ”How come we never sing songs together?”

I didn’t know you were the singing type,” she moved her finger to the bottom of the girl’s chin and nodded at her, “I promise we’ll sing together if that’s what you want.

Samantha put her hands on Jo’s shoulders, a smile on her face. ”Really? Can we sing one of those duo song thingies? The ones where you’re all like woohoo and I’m like yeehaw!”

W-What?” She asked, laughing at how she phrased her sentence, she found it cute that she was this inebriated. “We’ll do anything you want, okay?” She placed her hand on Sam’s and rubbed the girl’s arm to try and at least calm her down from how drunk she was.

”You heard me!” Samantha tried to stand up as she talked to her bestie, Jo. ”C’mon! Let’s go sing some songs. Maybe that dude you sang with… would he be down?”

He probably ran off or something, he was looking at some girl the same way I was looking at you earl- he-... He’s with some girl.” She replied. Once she saw how wobbly and stable Sam was on her feet, she got under her arm, and tried to support her best she could. “If you can get to the mic without falling over, I’ll sing with you.

”Bet.” Samantha said, before Samantha’s legs suddenly decided they were jello. Samantha damn well nearly toppled over and ate shit. ”Whoopsie.”

Alright spaghetti legs, let’s sit you down.” Said Jo, getting under her arm and moving her back on the couch, “We can sing some other time.” Said Jo, she placed her hand on her cheek and felt the heat from how drunk she was, “Wow, you’re hammered.

”No, you’re hammered!” Samantha protested, before sitting back down. ”I do like spaghetti tho…” Samantha looked right into Jo’s eyes. ”Can we get spaghetti? I’m craving some pasta.”

Alright, you’re cute and all but I don’t think pasta is going to help in this situation.” Said Jo, as her eyes met with Sam’s and her world shifted, suddenly her chest felt lighter. She leaned into Sam but pulled back after she realised what her drunk brain was doing. “S-So… Uh… Let’s just calm down for a little, okay Sam?

”Why? I’m totally calm!” Samantha hiccuped a bit. ”I’m cool. Like a cucumber. Now, let’s go get some pasta.” Samantha tried to stand up again, blissfully unaware that her legs were just as jello-y, if not even more jello-y than earlier.

Honey, no-” Jo said, catching Sam before she falls, “I can guarantee you, you’re going to throw up the moment you even take a bite of pasta, and I highly doubt there are any here.” Said Jo, she pointed to where the grill was and continued, “They’re serving burgers out there, heard it was good from the grapevine.

”Burgers?!” Samantha’s eyes widened. ”What kind of burgers? Can I have one?”

I don’t know, but I heard they’re the bomb.” Jo replied, “Since you’re definitely not gonna let up, let’s go get you one.” With that Jo then started supporting Sam again, heading over to the grill. Jo felt her stomach grumble a little, maybe she was a little hungrier than she thought.

It was something. What it was exactly, Alina Zabrecky wasn't sure, but it was clearly something.

Here she was, following a guy she just met, at a party full of people she didn't know, off to table filled with concoctions that were guaranteed to impair her judgment and her inhibitions, and allowing said guy she just met to pick her poison. Did that make any sense?

It did for now. And there were worse guys. If it turned out this was the same Hunter that showed Niki around the school, then they did luck out. He seemed nice enough. Nice as Dee at least. So this was fine, right? She wasn't going to worry about things, right?

Right.

Christian was providing all this alcohol, she might as well enjoy it. And Hunter seemed to have a better eye for it than she did. Maybe that shouldn't have been a point in his favor, but for now, it was working. Working enough to have him hold her hand as he guided the way to the promised land. This is fine. This is just him making sure he doesn't lose me in this crowd. That makes sense. It's fine. This isn't a sign that, you know, I got some guy interested in me with just one conversation. It's fine.

"So what's your poison?"

Alina tried to fake it like she knew exactly what her poison was as she perused what was on the table. Random red cups seemed like a bad idea. “I mean, you did say you wanted more than just craft beer, didn’t you?” She did. But she had to at least make sure that she had some idea what was going into it. Plus having some kind of buffer between herself and the alcohol seemed smart.

"Um..... I'll have some of that, with some of that." Pointing at two random things seemed like a plan. She didn't have much of one.

But the other facet of the plan did show up. "Help has arrived, darling,” Her cajoling had worked. Raven Willow had appeared to give her some semblance of a lifeline to the outside world. She immediately stepped between Alina and Hunter, and assumed some level of protection between the two. "Please tell me this guy isn’t acting like… all the other guys?”

As her friend took a bold shot of the Patron that Alina had pointed to and asserted herself into the conversation, she smiled. "So far, he's doing all right. He's been doing your job!" she laughed as she pointed at Raven. "But I'm glad you could make it and save me from sailing through this thing by myself." A brief moment of clarity hit her mind. "Oh, Hunter, this is my good friend Raven, aka Ray-Ray. Ray, this is Hunter. He has made up for breaking my beer bottle in more ways than one so far." Speaking of which, that drink could come at any time.

Melissa was feeling all her powers at the moment. Checking in with various members of the party made sure that her fellow Rosefell students knew where the happy juice was coming from and that her new Liberty subjects knew where they stood. But most of all, that they were having a good time. And for the most part everyone was, thanks to the provided beverages and the high from the Knights' victory earlier in the evening. Things were pretty good. The only problem was that her glass was nearing empty again.

As she tried to make her way back towards the table that held the promise of refills, the crowd was starting to pack together. This wasn't acceptable. As the cheerleader aimed to muscle her way through towards the nectar, it was proving more difficult than she believed. She was bracing for a bulldozing attempt that would have made J.K. Dobbins proud.

However, her attempt was thwarted as someone bumped into her, knocking her off balance and causing her to drop what remained of her vodka cran. Now she would have to get a new cup as well? Animals. "Hey! Watch where you're going, you lummox," she cautioned as she looked over as the black-haired person responsible for this new problem emerging to block this quest.

Eleazar Nikolavich Diaz-Sapohznik

Eleazar could only chuckle at Christian's succint appreciation of the grilled meats that he and Spike had been cooking up in the party. They were the best grillers in all of Rosefell, and for good reason. "Why, I learned from the best." Eleazar winked in response, sniffing at the barbeque as he did. He was, if anyone knew about it, referring to his father, who was a token dad that liked to grilled in the backyard every week. Those in Rosefell that had been to his house would know the smell of barbeque wafting through the air as his ever so hospitable Pops cooked up a meal for visitors-

"Alessia, bloody hell damn it, you took all the ketchup?" Eleazar sighed, looking over towards his sister, who had a mischievous smirk on her face. Christian had ketchup and mustard and all the other condiments provided, but he hadn't noticed that the bottled he had been using to apply the red tomato paste had suddenly disappeared.

"You got me." Alessia promptly returned the ones she took so stealthily. "I was just borrowing for a moment, though."

Of course you are, you just want to troll me that much...

"Anyway, where were we?" Eleazar flipped a burger patty, letting it simmer over the heat of the grill. Then Cade came over and asked Spike for a burger with, quote, 'everything'. What did he mean, anyway? Was the burgee going to have a patty, hotdog, sausage, and steak all inside?"All kinds of meat or all kinds of condiments or both?" Eleazar simply asked, making a burger for the Liberty guy that Cade just blew smoke on. "Because if that's the case... Spikey here might have a hard time making it, you know, fit."

Grisha Blackmore

Cough

Grisha, sadly, was not truly fond of parties; at least not of this variety. For one, drugs, alcohol, and more drugs flowed like rivers from the mountains; were he be caught by his parents mingling with such seemingly unsavory characters, he was in for a long lecture about the dangers of narcotics and alcoholism... which would last up to two hours at a time. And there'd be the two of them, right there, lecturing the same things over and over again...

"I'm going to enjoy this." Grisha told this to himself, convincing his stubborn mind to be put on the path of trying to get to know who their new schoolmates are going to be.

Speaking of which... Rosefell... A school for the less fortunate folk of society. Not that he discriminates... It's just that those tended to be where the 'bad apples' collect; nevermind those rich kids in Liberty that don't attend a single class and still pass because their parents are filthy rich. He just hopes that he'll meet some good people now-

Cough. Some scruffy bastard literally just blew smoke on his face. SMOKE. And FACE. In his book of life, those things must never come together under any circumstances. Geisha visibly winced and waved away the smoke with his hand, annoyed at the stench of... what is this? Is this weed smoke or tobacco smoke? Definitely tobacco. Weed was tolerable. This? Absolutely not.

It took everything he had not to go on to tell the guy not to blow smoke on people's faces; for all he knew, this could devolve into a brawl or something, and that is not something good for a get to know party. Instead, he pretended to ignore the smoke that just got blown on his face, and approached the grill, quietly asking for a sausage. Luckily, Christian and Ty were there for him to talk with... and then there were the boys from Rosefell, who were grilling on the grill.

"Hello, Chris. Hello, Ty. And hello to... you. You guys seem to already know each other. Bother to introduce me to this master grillers, Chris, Ty? Mmm?"
