I came across this webpage "I Write Like" which will, upon being given some text or writing, ascertain which famous writer you most resemble in style. Using two recent posts, I apparently write like JK Rowling and Stephen King. Any one care to try it out?

Apparently, depending on the character I am posting for, I write like either Anne Rice or Leo Tolstoy.

Right, from writing a short thing from scratch, I apparently write like Stephen King.

I took a sample from Discord since I sparingly write on the Guild. I got Mario Puzo though I'm not familiar as to who that is (looks like he is credited for writing The Godfather among other similar pieces). I would say that I most write like my girlfriend and a friend who basically taught me to Roleplay though, lol.

Cory Doctorow, Stephen King and Dan Brown.

Don't think this thing is entirely accurate.

When I feed it a writing sample from a magical girl RP, where I tend to write about supernatural powers and the occasional lewd moment:

Anne Rice (born Howard Allen Frances O'Brien; October 4, 1941) is a best-selling American author of metaphysical gothic fiction, Christian literature and erotica

When I feed it the opening post to the Danganronpa RP I GM, which is a murder mystery/court story for those unfamiliar.

Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie DBE (née Miller; 15 September 1890 – 12 January 1976) was a British crime writer of novels, short stories, and plays. She also wrote romances under the name Mary Westmacott, but she is best remembered for her 66 detective novels and more than 15 short story collections (especially those featuring Hercule Poirot or Miss Jane Marple), and her successful West End plays.

When I feed it a part of a post in which a character reflects on their grim situation.

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (November 11, 1922 – April 11, 2007) was a 20th century American writer. His works such as Cat's Cradle (1963), Slaughterhouse-Five (1969), and Breakfast of Champions (1973) blend satire, gallows humor, and science fiction.

The "I write like" thing states that it "analyzes your word choice and writing style and compares them with those of the famous writers." But I feel like it looks at the wrong words. Using the word "murder" doesn't necessarily mean I write like Dame, just that my sample is likely about the genre she covered.

Still a fun toy to play around with. It's always interesting to try and figure out how these things work. I'm kind of curious if others had the same results as me.

Don't write like Steven King, write like Michael Crichton.

I wonder if he's even obtainable in that thing.

i think it must default to anne rice when its uncertain or something. but its definitely based more on word choice and genre than grammar and structure because it keeps spitting out agatha christie when i input stephen king excerpts, just like penny. for me it gave me anne rice and then stephen king when i dug really far back into my google docs.

I too appear to be part of the Rice club.

Not sure how I feel about that...

However, others have criticized Rice's writing style as both verbose and overly philosophical. Author William Patrick Day comments that her writing is often "long, convoluted, and imprecise".

So, I was curious about the evolution of my writing from the past 4 years, so I did an experiment. I put in one chapter from all four of my WIPS from the years 2016 through 2019. My results were ...interesting, to say the least.

2016: Agatha Christie
2017: Anne Rice
2018: Anne Rice
2019: Agatha Christie

Guess I'm part of the Anne Rice club too.
