i'm generally all for pointing out the flaws in the american school system, but

the history classes in my school at least were very thorough

i got all the details because i took AP US, but even the basic us history class (which was required) was pretty detailed.

Personally, the best way to learn histroy is get a teacher not from the country. I had a Japanese/Korean professor and let me tell you, the section on WWII was very informative on things the US likes to leave out.
