I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

”Let’s go, in and out. 20 minute adventure.”

— Nuncio

@PlatinumSkink@ERode

Nuncio was walking back, when a commoner was walking down the street in the opposite direction. There were still commoners around, however rare, and this one looked like the commonest of commoners, hardly worth noting. In fact, her mere existence inspired one to not think her as anything worth noting, regardless of how clever one might be.

Except, then she turned to Nuncio.

‘Left next intersection, then the second street to the left, third window to the right, ground floor. She needs help. Hurry.’

With that, she turned and continued her walk in the direction she'd been walking. If he looked back at her, a measure of doubt would occur. Was it really her that had just spoken to him? Or had it been a trick of light from someone who'd used her appearance? Regardless, Nuncio would later have trouble recalling how she looked like. She just looked unremarkable.

Sammy’s eyes fluttered. ”According to my deductions, she’s directing you back towards the warehouses.”

With a groan, Nuncio hopped on Rosa’s back, still cradling Sammy in his arms. He didn’t want to put her in danger again, but there wasn’t a safe place around.

Vermin Killer reacted to Amaryllis’s appearance with a slow turn of his head. ”Oh, so you were the rapier swinging vermin that was spotted?” The crows ruffled their feathers. ”Mariette is just letting me borrow a book. No one has to get hurt.”

Then Nuncio came onto the scene, still holding Sammy. ”Mariette? Amaryllis? Waddaya doin’ here?” He turned to look at the mint agent..

”Nuncio, of course. What other vermin would assault a mint storehouse with an inbred tiger?” He shrugged his shoulders with a smile. ”I’m just interested in the book. Fetch it for me, Nuncio. I don’t feel like approaching that sword or slime vermin.” Vermin Killer extended their hand. The rain splashed in the center of his palm.

It might have seemed like an uneven matchup, a single magical boy against four magical children. But most of them were worn down and damaged, and even if they could overtake Vermin Killer, some of them could perish in the process. There was also a very real possibility that he had backup. If the broken mirrors were anything to go by, his smugness was more than just a bluff. He already had this entire situation figured out.

Nuncio hopped off of Rosa and approached Mariette. With a sigh, he lowered Sammy down beside the portal witch before taking the almanac. ”If somethin’ happens, get Sammy outa here.” Nuncio turned to look at Vermin Killer, and Rosa growled.

”Keep your cat at a distance. It would be a shame if the gluttons ate her.”

”Speakin’ of, wanna make ya crows step off?”

With a nod, the crows before Vermin Killer parted for Nuncio. He took his time walking forward, never taking his eyes off the other magical boy. The wolverines and crows all had their eyes on Nuncio, but they did little more than size him up. Once Nuncio was close enough, he placed the book in Vermin Killer’s hand.

Sammy shook. ”D-deductions.” She turned to look at Amaryllis. ”A missing hand.” She looked at Mariette. ”A burnt hand.” Then to Vermin Killer. ”An extended hand, receiving a book.” She blinked a few times. ”All of this evidence only points to a single outcome.” Sammy’s eyes shot open. She called out the name of her lover, but her weak voice couldn’t beat the sound of falling rain.

Vermin killer reached past the book and grabbed Nuncio’s wrist. Before the mafioso could react, he was pulled into the mint agent’s rising knee. It hit with enough force to send the rain flying off of his back. Vermin killer was swift enough to catch the almanac before Nuncio sunk to the ground. He stashed it in his coat without glancing at Nuncio, who was still holding his stomach.

”Mariette, Amaryllis, Eli, your debts are paid. You were simply accessories in all this, and Amaryllis was careful not to kill the agent she did engage with.” Heused his foot to push Nuncio onto their side. ”Unfortunately Nuncio has an extensive debt to the mint, and it only grows when his inbred cat kills our agents.” He chuckled. ”You missed her soul stone, but it’s still a depraved act.” Vermin Killer gave a small bow. ”The book will be returned to you in a few days time. After 48 hours, simply order a dreamy coffee from the pit stop. They will offer to deliver it, and you can give them further instructions from there. In regards to our prisoner, we will be taking them back. But that hardly needs to be said. You don’t want to be our enemy, right?”

Nuncio was still recovering from the blow he took to the stomach. He couldn’t stand, but he was able to turn and look at his partners in crime. He looked like a wild animal, eyes filled with bloodlust. He barked a single order before it happened.

”Run!”

A surge of magic rushed into Rosa, transforming the inbred white tiger into a fearsome killing machine. It charged towards Vermin killer, who was already calling his crows to form a defensive barrier. His wolverines were springing to his aid as well, unable to wait out their appetites anymore. Tiger was back on the menu.

Sammy was frozen in fear. Too exhausted to do anything more than cling to Mariette’s leg.

“Puchuu, in MY vicinity? It’s more likely than you think.”

— Tetrad

@AtomicNut@DarkwolfX37

Shion accepted? That was unexpected, but that goes to show you that it’s always worth pursuing a contact. “Thanks!”

She looked over her shoulder at Jimmy. “Right, right, Queenking34.” Tetrad supposed she’d better wright that down before she forgot. Well, that and any variants. He kept changing his user handle so he probably didn’t remember it.

“Hmm?” Tetrad looked at Ko. She wasn’t a fan of puchuu due to past dealings, and had come to believe that the few cheerful ones only behaved as such to play on the emotions of those around them. But turning down praise from anyone wasn’t Tetrad’s style. She placed her hands on her hips. “When you look this good you’re bound to get a few stares. But every once and a while I can charm them to my side. ” She laughed before whispering to herself. “Why couldn’t that have been a normal fight?”

Tetrad looked back at Shion, only to see she had passed out. “Eh, does she need help?” She started to shuffle her deck around so that she could find more blue cards. Her magic could be really annoying sometimes.

"Don’t worry Samantha! I’m coming!"

— Trixy

@FamishedPants@twave@Crusader Lord@Flamelord

As the pirate spoke, Trixy lowered her rifle. Her slurring was difficult to understand, but the message came across. The corpses had been moved into the ship, and Cereza and Cerise’s bodies were among them. Another reason why attacking Mariette was the right thing to do.

"That sounds good." Trixy sighed.

But Trixy couldn’t relax for long. She had given Samantha her “token bite” and was aware of Rachiel’s attack on Sam. She cringed as Samantha’s body was thrown into the next building.

Retreating like Veronica wanted would no longer be an option.

"Samantha! Are you okay?" Trixy hopped out of the shadow where the cradle was manifesting. "Veronica! Sam’s in trouble! I gotta save her!"

“What has she done?” It only took Veronica moment to gain an understanding of the situation. “See if you can get her out of there.” There was no emotion in her voice.

Trixy didn’t really need Veronica to tell her that. This was a pretty bad date, but it would be the worst if Samantha didn’t survive it.

Trixy had been able to glance at everyone fighting Hyun in the rave with her mystic scope, and thus could “see” them through solid surfaces. She knew exactly where all of the present beacon girls were, and they seemed to be coming down into the rave. That meant the way out the opening in the top should be clear.

”It’s about time to blow this popcorn stand!”

Trixy hurled an acorn at her feet, and the sudden growth of a tree was enough to pop her out of the ceiling hole. From there it was relatively easy to locate Samantha, and Trixy wouldn’t dally in her approach. Trixy was pretty swift, and she put her legs to work rushing to Sam’s side. When she found Sil, she kneeled down beside her. "Your arm’s broken. Can you use stasis to set it, or should I make you a cast?"

After taking care of Samantha’s arm, Trixy took her outside and used another acorn to propel the two of them into the air. Trixy’s gun was stashed on her back, and she was carrying Samantha bridal style. She landed on top of the pirate ship.

"Don’t suppose you mind a few hitchhikers, right?" Trixy set Samantha down and made sure she could still stand. Once that was taken care of, she looked off the side of the ship. "It’s not smart to fight people who are stronger than you." She went prone and aimed her rifle off the side of the pirate ship. "But backstabbers really annoy me." She continued to watch the fight through her scope. Her finger hovered over the trigger.

“Just Office of Certification things.”

— Oros

Oros was looking into her blade, examining the fight in the park. She wasn’t really invested in it beyond being called there, but watching magical girls duke it out was fun. This all gave her a burning desire to just rush back to Penrose as fast as possible, but the Office of Certification was taking their sweet time going through everything. It was fine though, she had made some revisions to her application so an extended wait time was to be expected. At least they had cold drinks, and the clerk was cute.

@FamishedPants @AtomicNut @Ponn @PlatinumSkink @Majoras End @twave

Ampodryl might be dead, but it’s blade continued to spin horizontal to the ground. It did not lose altitude nor did it slow as it cleaved through the air.

The blade was originally thrown in such a way that it would cleave through Hillaria’s entire body while she was prone on top of Faith. But now she was standing up with two other girls at her sides. This caused the blade to sever Hilaria, the berserker, and Celia’s legs just below their knees. This instantly destroyed the berserker while the two magical girls would tip over like a tree and fall to the ground, Celia’s wreath of flames burning on. In addition to this, their was a white flame left on their stumps caused by the soul sword. While the pale flame lingered, any attempts to heal their legs would have a diminished effect.

After making its mark, the sword dispersed into hundreds of souls, each one returning to a distant place no mortal could reach.
Group roleplays are a lot easier to get into if you don't like the trial and error approach of 1x1 stuff.

“You know what really burns my ass? A flame 'this' high.”

— Su Fang

@Erode@Ariamis

Unlike Askefye, Su and Helga were able to enjoy a windburn free ride. Su accomplished this by creating an air bubble around their heads. It wasn’t visible, but in that spot the air was moving with them. They could carry on a conversation without a problem.

“I did hear the PI’s announcement. Never followed their articles, but Mika read every one she could, probably because of her interest in magical girls, if not because she was included in a report about the Vixen. To think they'd do something like this.” There was too much stuff to react to at the rave. Lei Zi, the PI, Justine. All she could do is deal with it one issue at a time. And right now, Su was listening to Helga tell her story. It was one that she had heard before, but not in such detail.

“You’re not stupid, Helga.” A little gullible maybe. Very gullible, even. It was hard not to grin at the words she wasn’t saying. “I forget sometimes that you were alone once. I’ve always had someone in my life, and they’ve always been good people.” Her dread wings broke up and flaked away like ash in the wind. “Had we swapped possitions, I'd have likely done the same thing.”

It was true though. Su always had Boteg. He might have been a cowardly dragon, but he gave Su unconditional love. Even when she messed up, he found it in his heart to forgive her. Even the lives of all the people she was before becoming “Su” never knew of loneliness. They were wives, husbands, brothers and sisters.

Su supposed that what had her so upset was that her decision was wrong. She Let Justine live at the behest of the others. The angry, vengeful woman who could have so easily killed Justine then and there would have been right in doing so. Seeing her show up here was proof that her choice to try and lead a life with mercy instead of vengeance was wrong. That was what Su had thought initially, but maybe that was also wrong. Letting Justine live was a blunder, but taking on Helga wasn’t. Letting Sophia live wasn’t. To her knowledge neither of those people had turned to evil. Perhaps that was why Su flew after Askefye with such stubborn determination. Even if she was the one lighting fires at the rave, even if she almost guided Su into a troll, she deserved a second chance.

The fire girl probably didn’t want to be followed, but Su couldn’t back off now. She had escaped a rave, some dragons, and a troll with nothing to show for it. There had to be something she could do to soothe the fire girl before she did something she’d regret. The only clues Su had to work with was that she might be hungry. There wasn’t any other way to interpret her desire to have Vivi “Gib dinner.” Unless the dinner wasn’t what Askafye was after. She might have just wanted Vivi's company, but was it even possible that she fancied a girl from the ascendancy? That would be like hooking up with a lieutenant in Justine’s army when Justine killed the most precious person in the world to you.

Well, maybe this avenue of thought was worth considering. She had an idea for how to accomplish it too, but she’d need to get closer to hatch it.

”I think we can help her.”

Rings of fire. Could be exactly what they seem, could have a secondary function. Su was aware of how the fire at the rave reacted to her wind. While she could blow it around, it made it get a lot bigger and destructive as well. With such small rings, she’d have to be on top of things to make sure Helga didn't get burned. She could fly around them, but she took this as a challenge from Askefye. If they were going to be worthy of catching her, they had to fly exactly where she had flown.

”Lets see if I can shrink our profile a bit.” Su loosened her grip so that Helga could slid down her body. Helga sunk lower and lower until Su's sweater puppies were pressed against the side of Helga’s face. It was a lot easier to breath this way too. ”Just hold on, Helga!” Su amped up her speed as high as it would go and passed through the first hoop. The vortex of air propelling Su and Helga forward struck the ring afterwards, causing it to Swell and glow. The ring looked more like a donut after they had passed it. This made Su wonder if she could make other shapes.

Su spun on her way through the second ring, blowing the vortex outward. This turned the ring into a spiral. The third ring she flew through with a spiky vortex, which cause the ring to explode. It looked like a giant crown that Su was flying out of the top of.

”See if you can contact her, Helga. You’re my sound specialist.” Helga did have sound magic. While Su’s magic was strong, so was Askefye’s. Su also needed to be strong enough to carry a passenger and keep up with Askefye, and she couldn’t do that while also networking a communication spell.

”I’m not a combat character so PLLLLLLT!

#noncombatcharactersmatter #LEGION #Atomaskedmetodoit”

— Aria Rizzo

@AtomicNut

Aria had finished most of her chores and was reading a book on Chinese royalty when the door to her shop swung open. Multicolored luminescent butterflies flew all around the newly arrived, but Aria didn’t look up from her book.

”Daji is best known for her fantastical depiction as a fox spirit in legends, but she was a real person as well. She quickly became King Zhou’s favorite concubine and he did everything he could to please her.” She turned a page with a chuckle. ”History paints them as a sadistic and depraved lot. Once Daji saw a fisherman walking across some ice, and had his feet cut off so that she could examine them. She even had a pregnant woman cut open so that she could satisfy her curiosity yet again. This is without talking about the ‘forest of meat’ or the heated bronze cylinder they tortured people with.” She closed the book. ”But that’s all legend. Historians argue over what atrocities were actually committed, if any at all. The Zhou tribe hated Daji and may have demonized her to rally support against them. If that is true, then DaJi would have been the first victim of psychological warfare in history.”

Aria looked up and saw the Yamamotos. She lowered her gaze and smiled.

”I was expecting someone else. Sorry about that.” She pointed at the back. ”The portal in the next room will get you back to Penrose.”

“The power of peanut butter candies!”

— Mika Sarraf

@Vocab

Christine was a re-see-pee-see girl. Without doing anything more than selecting a milkshake, Mika had already uncovered so much critical information about her. As an example, most girls love strawberries. It’s hard to beat a fruit that is sweet, nutritious, and have a nice appearance. Strawberries are just appealing to girls on so many levels. It doesn’t matter if you’re watching your weight or want something that tastes good, Strawberries are the way to go. But Christine picked the “unhealthy” option. Now re-see-pee-see’s are amazing, in fact that would have been Mika’s choice if Christine couldn’t pick. But Mika also didn’t care what other people thought about her. If a stranger offered you an apple or a candy bar, you’d probably pick the apple to make yourself appear health conscious. Mika took Christine’s choice as meaning she fully trusted Mika, and didn’t feel like she needed to hide her shame. Which was pretty good, because if she started asking questions like “where did my clothes go? I don’t remember putting this bikini on!” She would have been in trouble. But Rina and Dan would have to share the blame in that particular instance.

Bottom line was, Christine trusted Mika a lot.

“This place? Glad you asked.” Mika said before smugly slurping her milk shake. “It doesn’t really have a name, but magical girls come here to relax. It’s not the overcity, but it’s not the real world either. Some place different.” She pointed at the platform in the center of the Colosseum with her head. “Keijo is what most people come here for. We’ll have to play some later. Burn off these milk shakes. Everyone here is safe, Dan the dolphin makes sure of that.” It might have been wise wait until Christine could digest her food and play a few rounds of Keijo before continuing the interrogation. But Mika had no impulse control and “went for the kill” right away. “I saw you and Alicia fighting in the hallway, what was that about? Someone also wanted to deal with Beacon and Mint. ” She set down her milk shake and folded her arms. She looked more concerned than anything else. “I thought the Indian pendant was cool with Beacon when they pardoned a monster girl. Are you with them? Did Beacon do something to hurt you?”

@FamishedPants@BrokenPromise@PlatinumSkink@Majoras End@twave

Faith’s eyes were rolled up into her head, and she was panting hard. Mia’s mossy bandages were able to stop the bleeding but the fairy had already gone into shock. Hilaria had taken a bite out of the back of her neck. She missed Faith's carotid artery, which was probably the only reason she was still alive. But Hilaria’s bite had crushed her spine at the base of her neck. This paralyzed everything below her jaw. If she was going to leave Mayor park, it wouldn’t be without assistance.

“Heheheheheheheheheheheeeeeee!”

— Veronica

@Majoras End@ERode

“It’s not over until all agents are accounted for.” Veronica prepared to step out of the vehicle before looking back at Myria. “That was not an especially exciting parking job.” Of course it had always been Veronica’s plan to downplay whatever attempt Myria made. Had she actually stuck an exciting landing, it would have been to flashy for Veronica’s tastes. “Regardless, I will keep my word.” Veronica produced a “skeleton key” and handed it to the magical girl. Typically a skeleton key was an artifact that open any door. But it seemed Veronica had taken the meaning literally and handed Myria a key that was made out of skeletal bones. It had been acquired from a necromancer’s lair and didn’t really serve any use to Veronica anymore. Not a horrible gift for someone with a corrupted spirit spec, but it paled in value to a true skeleton key. Though a real skeleton key was an absurd price for a taxi fair, even a magical one.

Veronica stepped away from the vehicle and looked across the park at Ronin. “Eliza, Maura, we are not going to remain here. Once we pick up Ronin, we’re leaving.” Veronica placed a hand beside her head. “Though I will be departing early. It seems as though something has come up. Make sure he returns safely, Eliza.” She shoved her hands into her pockets and walked away from the park, giving Fine a nod on her way past their vehicle.
@FamishedPants@Mateotis@Majoras End

The last investigation collab is done. Just waiting on famished to post it.

I still have to prep some of the truth bullets and polish off the last case, but once I get everything together I'll shoot everyone a link tho the final collab that will end the RP. exciting stuff.

I think I'm going to do it in docs. I realize that's a little harder for Majora to access, but I'm only really looking for one add out of everyone per day. I think that went misunderstood last time so I'll clarify that what I'm looking for is slow, consistent progress. this is going to be the last post in the RP and I don't want to rush it. Nothing is coming after this. Once it's done, the RP is done.

On another related note, this RP has been going on for 3 1/2 years now. Not even I can keep track of all the mysteries, from character secrets to weird happenings. So if there's something that's been nagging at your mind that you'd like to see answered, do bring it to my attention. in fact we can even have a discussion about such things.

So long as you return once a year.

Like I said, it's not staying there. She'll be taking it to Penrose or the very least this world before she gets into any fights.
@ERode

I think I stated it in the CS, but she can't move very fast during time stop. It's also the sort of thing that would drain her mana really fast if she went to do anything dramatic. I recall ari saying that gravity and time were interlinked a bit, so I'm not even sure if it needs t obe a gifted ability. Regardless, I have no problem removing it. She's built around the idea of being an inescapable predator, and timestop is usually used as an offensive move.

Will get right on the "beast thing."

Yes, Behemoths are just the RP's strongest classification of monster. She would be scheming something for one of these to show up.

At present, her Phylactery is located on her original world in a mangled building. It's probably not going to stay there, as it's hard to look after and god forbid a monster decides to eat it. I was thinking after she makes a few friends and establishes a hideout, its new location would be revealed ICly.

Alright kids, I have 2 cool surprises for you today.

First off, I'm a little sad that no one noticed that the park map was actually the lost meme. It's okay, I forgive you.

Second one is more for the Grand Magistrate to look at. A girl flew by with some documents.

"B-but I wasn’t gunna kill it! : C"

— Trixy

@ERode@FamishedPants@twave@Crusader Lord@Flamelord

Even if Trixy’s vine shot didn’t score a hit, it at least did half of what she wanted by stopping Mariette from firing on Hyun. A dopey smile crossed her face as she watched the portal witch escape. It wasn’t the best outcome, but Hyun had a chance now.

Though Sil’s transmission turned that smile upside down.

"O-oh." She hung her head. Trixy thought she had really been on fire during this mission, but she hadn’t considered that Mariette might not realize her intentions. It would be harder for cradle to settle things peacefully with her now. Especially since Beacon opened fire on her. But the alternative was chancing Hyun turning into some rotisserie chicken.

Which was appetizing, but there was something to be said for a cutie as well. Trixy extended her arms to catch her, but Lenna had a height advantage thanks to some barriers that Trixy’s arms just couldn’t match. Not that it mattered too much. Trixy just didn’t get to hold girls very much, unless it was during a fight, or her date was smacking her around. But it was enough just to see Amaryllis’s gambit pay off.

Veronica’s voice echoed in the minds of all nearby cradle agents. “Done? Preparing evac, stand by.”

The situation only got more grim when Trixy heard Rachel’s orders.

"Deal with?" She stood up a bit straighter. "Waddaya mean? You got a new cutie for your squad, courtesy of everyone’s teamwork!" The cradle was opening up under Trixy. Bubbling tar that was darker than the dead rave. "I mean, I’m not going to pretend that there aren’t some horrible corrupt girls out there, but look at what we just did together!" Trixy spread her arms and gestured at everything. It didn't matter that no one was looking at her. "She was eating people a few seconds ago, and look! Are you telling me that she gets a chance and we don’t? I mean-" She half choked. "Is this really how it’s going to be? Us versus them to the very end? ...Can’t I bury my friends first?" Trixy’s voice cracked. She placed both of her hands on her gun. Cereza and Cerise’s bodies had gone somewhere, but she couldn’t disobey Veronica. It was bad enough that she disappointed Sam, and not becoming a corpse herself was a top priority.

"Sam, can you get away? Veronica’s pulling me out."

Trixy had no intention of firing on anyone, but this wouldn’t be the first time her plans blew up in her face. She was on the other side of the barrier she had made earlier, and all of the beacon girls were above her. So long as she was ready to fire on any Beacon coming through the hole, it should make her a bit harder to reach.

"Cereza, Cerise, I’ll bring you justice."

“You know what? Salt is in RN.”

— Tetrad

@AtomicNut@DarkwolfX37

Did the fight end? Yes. Did it end without any of her opponents dieing just like she wanted? Yes. Was it a satisfying conclusion she could be proud of? Hell no!

Tetrad had difficulty processing what even happened. The timid bear/bird girl suddenly went into mom mode, and then there was a spirit rip move, and that trap came back, and then, what the hell even was that? When did she walk onto the set of a sitcom? Exit stage right! Now now now!

“NO!” Tetrad marched towards Jimmy. “No I agreed to ONE date! I don’t even think I did that, but you know, I’m doing it anyway! Because you stopped attacking.” Her eyes were as wide as saucers. Tetrad pointed at herself with her thumb. “I had everything under control! You could have run! I didn’t ask you to put yourself in danger. And those 'hints' were pretty crappy FYI!” She lifted her finger up in front of Jimmy’s face. “ONE! O-N-E ONE! That’s what we start with.” She spun on her heel so that her back was pointed towards Jimmy. “You only get more if I enjoy it, alright? And quit looking so pathetic!” She shuffled her cards about until she had a few blue ones, which she tossed in Jimmy’s direction. “Kingqueen69 right? I’ll send you a message later.” She really wasn’t interested in Jimmy, but contacts were contacts.

She glanced at Shion. Not the most social sort. Thanks to her link with Veronica, she knew a bit about the girl. Shion was being chased by the mint, which should mean she could be an ally of Cradle. But this seemed like a weird time to exchange contact information. Not only that, but it was clear she was a solitary type that didn’t like working with others. A bit on the grumpy side too. At least that was the vibe she got. But just walking away was the N.E.E.T. thing to do.

“So yea, that was a really cool attack. I’m sure it would have screwed up any other magical girl.” Tetrad gave Shion a thumbs up. “Did you need any help healing up?” Her eyes shifted side to side, then she leaned in close to speak quietly. “Alright so I’m at least fifty percent sure this guy is going to try and slip me a mickey, so if you wouldn’t mind exchanging phone numbers with me, I’d feel a lot safer. Also, who knows? Penrose is a small place. We’ll probably be bumping into each other a lot.”

“You pulled me out here for this shit?”

Lub you Lei Zi lolz.

— Oros

Talking directly with other patrons was not something that happened very often. Usually getting a horror to appear for any reason was an accomplishment in and of itself. Though when you start throwing around terms like “overt interference,” you’re bound to shake someone’s tree.

Something was burning up as it passed through the atmosphere. A pink lotus mounted on a flesh bud zoomed towards Lei Zi. Air friction had set it on fire, but this just seemed to change its color rather than burn it. The lotus pedals and flesh all turned black before arriving at their destination.

A few meters away from Lei Zi the burning abomination floated. Once the fire burned out the black flower started to bloom. The inside of the bloom was a dark crimson, but the real star of the show was the pink haired girl that sat in the center.

The shrine maiden in black uncrossed her legs and stood up. She used her katana’s scabbard to support herself as she raised. With a yawn, she straightened out the rim of her skirt. She examined her effects, straightening every bell and bracelet she wore. At no point during her self inspection did she release hold of her scabbard, but she made no effort to draw her weapon either. After straightening out her back, she stepped out of the flower.

“The first Oros, Hand of the collective entities known as Aighorost, stands before you, to remind you that they will not all be conceived for another ten-thousand years.” She placed a hand on her hip. “I want you to think about how childish a newborn is, and then realize they are ten-thousand years younger than that. You think they’re going to give a shit about what number Lei Zi you are or what type of force your god bears? They can’t even change their diapers!” Oros took the hilt of her blade and pulled it part way out of the sheath. Some images flashed across the blade. “Well whatever. The babysitter’s here to spar words with you.” The blade slid back into the sheath. “Pretex is a pretty word, but I think ‘excuse’ works better. One of these super dangerous horrorlings shit the bed already, and they haven’t killed any magicals yet, right?” She rolled her neck before reaching inside her uniform to scratch her breast. “Even if they did, horrors drop monsters in this shithole all the time. Don’t see anyone crying into the heavens about it though. This whole thing just feels like a waste of time. But hey, since we’re on the topic of ‘interference,’ let's talk about that rave that went tits up.” Oros pulled her hand out of her uniform and sniffed her fingers. A smile crossed her lips. “Tian Rong sent his lighting directly into that pit of debauchery and murdered ‘em by the dozens. Wasn’t that ‘interference,’ or is he above other patrons in all this?”

“Horrors do beget further horrors and monstrosities,” Lei Zi replied. “But calling forth such powerful monsters remains taboo. All Patrons, Horror or not, are expected to operate within the rules of this ‘chessboard’, lest all caution be thrown into the wind and Patrons go to war in place of their so-called Champions. If you’re the caretaker of one not yet born, then surely you know this much.”

The shrine maiden placed one hand to one side, her other hand to the other.

“Competence may be granted. Power may be granted. Safety may be granted. All within limitations that a human soul can bear.. Aighorost, however, deigns to fight in place of their warped child, when their power, no matter how infantile the wielder, can see that girl whisked away instead. If that’s not flagrant interference, what is?” She neither smiled, nor frowned. “My lightning has always been a boon of Tian Rong’s. Though my emotions may have gotten the better of me, the power I displayed with the help of my artifact is not on the realm of a Deity, but rather within the realm of nine generations of magical girls. Does that answer your concerns, Oros?”

Oros was staring at the moon, picking her nose and flicking what she found into the night. She wasn’t even facing Lei Zi as she spoke.

“Right right, flatulent interference, I didn’t forget what we were talking about.” Oros’s pulled out a scroll while her lotus lily floated towards Lei Zi. “Firstly, I’d like to show you the Patron Doctrine of Fighting, herein referred to as the PDF.” She held it out to Lei Zi and tapped the parchment with her finger. “A blessing is placed on a person or place, and has ‘subtle but real effects.’ Killing a shit-ton of magical girls is about as subtle as your outfit.” She hid the PDF. “But of course it’s not enough to participate in this game of ‘chess’ with just one rulebook. The Grand Magistrates, or GMs to save time, have made supplementary documentation to over rule the PDF to better maintain the ‘game’ we’re all playing. I’m referring to the Doctrine of Combat Supremacy. Herein referred to as the DOCS. And if you look at this scroll-” When Oros read the document, her eyes bulged out of her head. “What trickery is this?!” She grit her teeth and turned to look at Lei Zi. “Oh you Grand Magistrates are a sly lot! I know Tian Rong is one of them! I know how they work! Aighorost was one not long ago…” She shoved the scroll between her breasts. “Well whatever, I should have known they’d pull a fast one on me. Playing with causality and the space time continuum to retcon things.” She looked up into the heavens and screamed. “All those mother-trucking gorelions! I still remember their textured tongues sliding along my back! Pulling us into the dark abyss of their necks! A single pillar druid couldn’t beat one of them! How do you justify this Grand Magistrates!? Howwwwwww?!” With a sigh, she folded her arms. “Where were we? Right, not all patrons can rush to save their champions, and Aighorost is one of them. Pretty sure he doesn’t give a shit if Faith’s there or not. Someone smacked Aighorost and now they’re just screwing around.” She used her thumb to press the rest of the scroll down. “But whatever, I play your game this time. No more horror avatars going forward. Does that work for you?”

“That’ll work wonderfully,” Lei Zi replied. She had been silent and unmoving as Oros began her theatrics, the neutral expression of watching someone else go on a temper tantrum settling over her features. Yes, Aighorost was a child, or even less than that. Kicking against his ‘cradle’ was understandable, doubly so when his caretaker was also a child. “And I hope you continue to operate within the bounds of both the PDF and the DOCS moving forward. They are, after all, mere guidelines working within the rationale of the Realm’s Precepts, which encompasses the Laws of Magic.”

Down below, it appeared that Aighorost’s ‘fit’ this time had been summarily dealt with by the magical girls in the area.

“Do well to educate your Patron, Oros. Horror though they may be, it’d be a cruelty to watch an unborn child be cannibalized after being laid low by penalties they do not comprehend. And perhaps you’ll be there to give Justine her dues too.”

Oros was nodding along to Lei Zi. “Yea I’ll get right on-” She froze. “Hold up, that shit stain is still alive?” Oros picked up her katana and slid it out of the scabbard to examine the blade again. “A lot of people are still alive? I saw the city was mostly empty and-” She slid the blade closed. “Shit, I’m not gunna cry. I’m not!” She placed a hand over her mouth. “Alright, this is. This is interesting.” She folded her arms again and huffed. “I dunno if Faith is going to make it, but it’s clear Aighorost is gunna need help with this sector.” Oros was about to leap off the edge of her lily pad, but stopped. “Right, I need to submit some documentation to the Grand Magistrates before I join. What a pain.” She grabbed Lei’s hand and shook it. “Thanks for calling me here. Seems like a lovely place. Kicking Justine’s ass sounds like great fun.” She jumped back into her lotus, which closed up and blasted back into the sky.

“Remember,” Lei Zi called out as Oros left. “Get it approved first with the Office of Certification before submitting it to the Credence Scrolls. Not through Private Mail.”

@AtomicNut@Ponn@FamishedPants

The spirit wolves did not idly stand by while Elora typed on her keyboard. They had set upon her, and were biting into her flesh with every stroke of the keys. When she ignored them and continued deploying countermeasures, they got more aggressive. One bit onto her hand and crushed her fingers in its grasp. Another bit into her jacket and tore it off of her back. A third wolf grabbed her by the hair and ran backwards, carrying her deeper into the park as other wolves nipped at her legs and arms.

Ampodryl stood its ground as Shoggy approached. She had been able to deflect its lasers into its eyes, causing the creature to wince. Then Shoggy became something more, something sinister, she was lashing out in Ampodryl’s general direction. The great wolf was more agile than many would assume, and was able to leap clear over Shoggy and land behind her.

This would have been a great time for Ampodryl to sweep its tail at Shoggy, or pounce on the exposed Emily and Sakura. But it was instead looking in the direction of Faith. Ampodryl was blind now and could only hear the sound of his champion. It didn’t turn around, instead "looking" in the direction of its champion.

But shoggy did turn around, and burned through the wolf’s leg.

Ampodryl struggled to stand. Souls swarmed around its form, but this was just a bold display of power before it charged forwards. Only three legs. Just three legs, but it could still run. It didn’t get much further before Shoggy burned off it other hind leg. Ampodryl’s torso slammed into the ground. It seemed to flinch, like a living creature might. But its rear quarters were not required to survive. Furthermore, they were not required to run. Even if it had just two paws left, it could still drag itself forward. Ampodryl had managed to pull itself to the halfway point. Shoggy would not let up her assault, angry as she was. She continued to blast it over and over again with light beams. The heat got so great that the hound’s evergreen coat caught fire. One had to wonder why such a sadistic creature was doing this. Ampodryl may have been trying to score a kill. It could have also been concerned for Faith. But surely a horror wasn’t capable of feeling compassion. Even Oros felt confident that Faith meant nothing to her horror as a whole. If she was wrong, then it was possible horrors could become something more than horrors. Such a thought was sheer blasphemy though.

Blind, lame, and burning. It only had one option left. Souls welled up around Ampodryl’s mouth, and a large, shining blade appeared in its maw. As this abomination’s last act of defiance, it drew in all the souls around itself to prepare its hidden technique: the sword of souls. With a mighty heave, the cursed blade spun as it closed in on Hilaria’s position. That was all it would do. Having used the last of its strength, Ampodryl howled at the moon. Just as Shoggy finished incinerating it. The rest of its charred needles fell to the earth, and the green flame that burned in its breast went out. All that was left was the chared remains of a tree that looked like a dog. Mother earth’s growth returned to the last segments of the mayor park, making it look like new again.

The hole in the sky closed up. The moon looked down on everyone like the giant eye of a horror before being shut out by the clouds.

The horror had been defeated.

”Hmmmm...”

— Tonya “Mac” Murphy

It was fine.

Without Mac's intervention, Faith would survive. Though just as a precaution, she was able to use her gravity magic to hold back Hilaria's jaw for cutting all the way into Faith's spine.

This was the end of the battle. Everything should play out just as her patron willed it now.

Her mana was running low, and she really needed to be elsewhere. It would not be good if Lotus woke up right now.

“Highway star?”

— Veronica

@Majoras End@ERode

Veronica gave Fine a small nod. “Mimoku will be made aware once I get inside her mind. There’s an extensive amount of protection on it, but it shouldn’t take more than a few days. I’ll keep you posted.” Veronica was not the trusting sort, but she did get in contact with a lot of Puchuu. Shady lot of creatures, but they were at least predictable in their goals. They were primarily interested in the destruction of monsters. The worst ones might be pragmatic in their approach, but they were far more likely to screw their own girls than the agents of another. They had their reputation to uphold, after all. Mimoku was one of many who kept in contact with her after she left the mint.

Myria was starting to get annoying. There wasn’t any reason why Veronica couldn’t get everyone to mayor park this instant. But she preferred to use her powers as seldom as possible. The reason why she only ever used the cradle to carry Trixy places was to give the illusion it was an artifact she had. Fortunately the ride was smooth, the seats were comfy, and Veronica was in good company. She would tolerate her behavior for now.

“A skeleton key?” The Cradle may have been a massive trove of treasures, but Veronica was unwilling to part with the good stuff. Though there was also a lot of junk. Stuff left over from completed operations and trash Veronica was en route to deposit. “Hmmm, I might have something.” Veronica looked around the Vehicle. Maura and Elise were sitting at either side of her while Myria and Fine sat in the front seat. “You two seem to know each other. Are you both Mimoku’s girls? If so, I haven’t heard much about Myria.”

“People really eat locusts?”

— Su Fang

@Erode@Ariamis

Su shot Helga a glare. She was irritated with Helga sure, but ever since she walked into the rave, Helga had been badgering her to do things. We gotta find Mika! We gotta get out of here! we gotta run away from the troll! It was just getting a little tiresome with everything else going on.

”I got skipped last event, not this time though. BIG BANNER HOOOOO!”

— Aria Rizzo

Monarch Artificing was never a quiet place. If Aria wasn’t working on meeting the demands of her clients, she was trying to make bigger and better fairy butterflies for her artificing. Which would in turn make more and better products, which would enable her to make larger butterflies still. At some point she would need to move into a bigger shop just to house them all.

Even if she was busy, it had been business as usual for the past few months. The strangest request she got was from Makoto, who hadn’t been back for a while. Which was a shame, because while Aria loved butterflies most of all, a squirrel’s tail was fine too.

Just last week she had encountered that group that was escaping the ascendancy. That was kind of scary. She’d just as soon not have Beacon snooping around her shop. Not that they’d find anything, but it was just uncomfortable to have that going on. Like what if they did find something? Crooked cops plant stuff all the time.

No point dwelling on what could happen. Aria polished a gourd with a rag before setting it on a display rack beside a glass vial and a beaker. A smile crossed her face.

*Crash*

Aria looked over her shoulder, only to see her largest butterfly had knocked over a glass beaker on another shelf with a flap of its wings. Might be too early to move, but she considered expanding into the basement.

”Actually…”

— Nuncio

Nuncio had walked out of Eli’s sight before stopping. ”Huh.”

The mafioso looked down at Sammy, then hugged her close to his chest. He was unhappy that Eli and Mariette didn’t trust him, but he also realized there was nothing he could do on his own. He wasn’t safe anywhere in Penrose, and it wasn’t like he could take a taxi or a train with a white tiger in tow. His only option was to rely on others again.

It was embarrassing, but if Eli was offering to build him a place, then he should probably take it. Hopefully Mariette had a good payment plan. He was broke and couldn’t afford anything up front. Not until Brittany purchased a few more of his pluses at least.
