Oh yeah.... He beaned a sparow in the head with a stone too...

He was just getting ready early to visit the Gen 1 Safari Zone, duh! And to eventually throw an actual log, just not at something's head in that case. I think.
@Crusader Lord
Checkin' out the length of Tilly's skirt and her kille legs, are we? Lina, you naughty girl.

Gotta wait for Frieda 'fore I acn do anythign else tho'. Dun wanna be rude and just jog off to talk to anyone else before then.

R00d of Tilly to assume stuff like that and hijack Xalt's account so brazenly here. Smh. :P

But all good. Tempted to respond with Lina again in short to Ryuuchi, but want to give Savo/Rune a chance to respond since he tried to talk to Nevy as well I think.

Alternative!Lina, in another timeline, with a totally deadpan and blunt delivery of the line upon seeing Tilly: "Begone, thot, back to the dark depths of Spikemuth with ye. Back into those dark depths, where cockeny accents are even thicker than the locals' use of mascera."

SS Calliope, Bjyerlfal City Docks, Byjerfal City -> Outside Camphor's Lab, Byjerfal City | Morning

A cliffhanger. Yet it felt like it fit with the old Gym Leader's perosnality, at least, as much as it did his beard. Not quite the straightforward answer she had sought, frankly, but certainly not a totally uninformative or boring matter either. For one thing, he'd mentioned Rivenwall during the whole story. That was a place here in Eidda, if she recalled correctly, and yet it had come with the story of a young sailor almost succumbing to his own hubris. Hmm. Seas off the coast of Rivenwall, yes? She'd make a mental note of that for later as a possible location to find a Dhelmise...at least if seeking out in that direction eventually and potentially alike didn't end in her own 'demise' as it were. Haha.

Though for her part she was paying proper attention to the story itself overall, unlike perhaps one of the others as she took note out of the corner of her eyes. The first was the seemingly spaced-out Galarian, with a skirt shorter than her attention span. Heh. She'd have to remember that one, though she'd never say it aloud in any case. Meanwhile the one bouncing with more energy than the Azurill on her head seemed to be the opposite for the time being, paying rapt attention to the story before complaining about the lack of finishing the story. Not that she didn't seem to start bouncing with more energy than the Pokemon sitting atop her head as they began to move along in any case. As for the sullen boy? Well...she'd kept an eye on the side in any case before they set off, just as surely as the Kantonian seemingly had stared more than obviously at the guy in a somewhat rude but peculiar manner as well for that matter in her eyes.

...What? She needed a good read on her future coworkers, and it seemed that at least they had some spread of personalities. Less boring that way, though she wondered about the others who'd be coming by plane. These were at least the 'outsiders' coming in, which she felt she was in part despite living in the region for a shorter stint thus far compared to real locals, but the others would mostly be in-house arrivals, no? And she'd let the stare at her chest from the bouncing one slide for the moment being as well without giving her a light bonk on the head with her hand. For one thing, the Azurill was the more innocent party.

For the most part she kept silent as the city passed them by, transitioning from beach to boardwalk to evnetually the hustle and bustle of its outer parts. Certainly fit the bill for someplace akin to Castelia or some sort, perhaps some of the other big cities, but it seemed to have its own style aside from the foreign treats on the beach that were being offered. Place did enough trade and was a point of entrance, yes? She'd done some looking up and heard some from her father before getting on the boat, at least, and coming here this morning. Jorm had been a quick ride to the docks to boot, though she'd put him in his Pokeball before the ship had arrived. Yet as things slowed down within the inner city area, people and bustle and vehicles and Pokemon alike, she felt almost a little glad to have taken the slower route. If she hadn't been escorted there, sitting atop her usual spot on Jorm's head to make her way there and see above the crowds would've been her first instinct. Almost wished she had still ridden atop his head, really, now that she thought about it. Better view of things there, and more room to look at more potential places to visit and all of that nonsense.

As they arrived it would seem they were not the last, that being the honors for a motorcyclist and passenger who arrived just after they did apparently. It was enough to draw Lina's eyes over to the duo as one got off and took off a helmet, as it seemed to be a rather perosnalized bike for what little she knew of motorcycles and had seen before. Fancy, likely not cheap either if it had extra bells and whistles added to it. A status symbol, then, potentially. Plus the tone of voice-....ah, so it did fit with her guess about the bike after all. Disregarding tone full of disdain, brazenly approaching a gym leader as if she owned the place as befit her stride over, and the redhead on the bike laughing but not speaking. Peculiar. Lina mulled over the two for a moment or two as her lolipop rolled around in the right side of her mouth, the stick of it still sticking out of her mouth.

But she didn't frankly care to bat an eye at the two latest arrivals, words of the white-haired one and lack of words from the redhead or not, otherwise. In fact she mostly didn't react to them as she listened on and watched what they did.

"Mmm. Nice ride, though a Caterpie's nibbling something on the back of your friend's head, btw, so you might want to get that checked out," she'd comment in a rather casual and almost deadpan manner to Risete, before taking her lolipop out with her right hand just long enough to use it to gesture at the the redhead's currently stick and leaf styled head before putting it back in her mouth on the left side now. Lina then turned her head to Tuule, the old captain still with his pipe, and would outright just talk over the white haired girl in the process, "Thanks for escorting us here, by the way, though perhaps one day we'll get the rest of the story."

With that and a nod to the captain, the black-and-red haired girl would simply walk off back into the lab with lolipop once again returned to the left side of her mouth now. Had to rotate sides or else it got a little numb when eating the things, in her experience, and it wasn't worth more than a passing comment of her thoughts and nothing beyond that. Well, aside from listening to see if the redhead and white haired girls reacted to her comment about the Caterpie or not while she walked in. Would be good to know if they were observant enough about things to pay that comment in particular any heed if nothing else.

Outside Camphor's Lab, Byjerfal City -> Camphor's Lab Lobby | Morning

...Oh. The inside seemed to be bustling with even more people than she'd expected really. Not to mention the flurry of things going on around her as she walked in, backpack still on her back, and tried to get a lay of the land at first. Professor's assistant was there, certainly, talking to Tilly who seemed to be all giggly after tossing in a flirt of her own. That checked out. Likewise there was the smell of coffee and the likewise energy-filled Melissa and her Azuril, who seemed to be not keeping too far an orbit from her or such, who were being talked to by some blond boy with the look of a flirt in his smile. There was also a small smattering of others it was harder to pick out, from a stiff-looking guy with a cape and a Budew to someone with a Slakoth oon the couch, to a rather wealthy looking girl with a Galarian Ponyta, to-....ah. A tall boy that looked as if he needed some medical attention or a bag to breathe into, however, which is where her attention went immediately as Lina reached back with her left hand for her filled water bottle to ensure it was there as she walked calmly over to where he was near the girl on the couch.

Well, everyone else seemed to be doing well enough right now anywho. Would be time to talk to a few of them later, perhaps, depending on how things went. But this guy was clutching his fists and rubbing the left side of his head. Seemed to be missing an eye as well. Hmm. A pang of something ran through her right leg and thigh like a phantom brought on by...familiarity. Memories. Yes, she did want to check up on him, though as she walked over-

"And... cups as well?
???

Hmm. He didn't sound the best either. Though she'd not try to approach him too suddenly, Lina would simply speak with a gentle tone after trying to get his attention without touching him. Mostly she tried this by waving a hand in what would seem to be his likely area of actual visual perception, given his seeming lack of an eye, and trying to speak not too loudly aside from being just loud enough purposefully to get past the background noise of the room in the first place.

"Hey there, sorry to butt in but...do you need some help? Water? E-T-C?"

The words left her lips with a gentler and softer tone despite her oddly acute pronunciation of 'etc', the former being something that perhaps didn't match quite so much with her expression overall. Or at least that's what it felt like to her in her mind, though it wasn't something she was thinking about in the forefront of her mind at the moment either in all frankness. All she knew was the guy didn't seem to look good, and she wanted to at least try to offer assistance in this case where the others for the most part seemed to be more distracted than anything else.

Lucius

It was a rather nice little set dressing for the occasion, as far as the cadet was concerned, and yet he felt a small wave of pressure leave his thoughts as Aurora and Serah had allowed him to sit with them. Though awkwardly enough he kept silent as Elora showed up in a nice simple dress of sorts, nice yet not too over the top, and then their alien comrade and the sole survivor of the simulation alike sought to join them in turn. Soon therafter one person he felt mildly surprised to see there, albeit he couldn't put a reason as to why, arrived. Ah, Minerva? If he'd read the public records right that is. Had a touch of a heated moment with the doctor prior, something her avalible information didn't seem to make apparent as to why he would ignore a member of the team or so forth, though it was almost as if the old man had been maybe...shutting something out? Forcing her out of his perception perhaps, though for her part she'd almost gotten in trouble for it all in turn. And it was he the white haired woman would end up seated next to, of all people, though he would seek to avoid staring. At any rate, Elora seemed to hand over a nice drink to the blue haired girl, and Serah for her part still seemed to be friendly and open enough to get everyone seated at the table and such to boot.

Pilot Mema-Ka and one Zel-Ghin had also arrived, but the latter had certainly ignored the formality of the occasion in favor of going to inspect the food from the looks of it. Just as brazen in the latter's attitude on things as Lucius had seen before, he reckoned, while the former seemed to simply linger and look around like he was taking it all in. Now at least that much was something he could at least relate to, even if he felt like a fish out of water in something like this. As for Aurora, though? For her part it seemed as if she'd hit some kind of 'switch', akin to how someone might act when at work versus at home, compared to her demeanor earlier. Yet it also felt distant from the usual citizen, as if she had the air of a noblewoman about her. Not that he knew her, or anyone here really, well enough in any capacity...was also part of the reason why he was here at that. Heck Aurora's info had been locked up tight enough it made him wonder-

"Please, enjoy a taste of Chateau Duval."

Wow. Genuinely wow. That was quite the display, and he followed in the red haired woman's lead in attempting to give some small applause for the presentation, staff, and host, though he'd somewhat awkardly and eventually stop clapping out of fear he'd be left behind as the last one doing so. Maybe. He'd stop a bit jarringly sooner than anyone else who'd be clapping at least, enough to bring some small worry to cross his face for a moment.

Though from the corner of his vision, admittedly, he would feel as if he was being watched a bit more than usual. And in a moment, it seemed, he caught Elora's eyes looking away. Ah? W-Well he was in his full dress uniform, hat and everything included, but was he that much out of place perhaps? But her cheeks seemed a touch redder than before. Was she feeling well? Though as the presentation had been made she'd made an exclamation of her own a little louder than he'd expected.

“Uh, sorry…”

Lucius would slightly lean closer to Elora, trying to get her attention to whisper something as his smile returned and grew a little more relaxed in kind. Nothing to spook her, that wasn't his intention, but even so something felt a bit more natural to her reaction. Not as formal, but sincere and genuine. It was a little charming, if he had to put a word out to describe it.

"No need to be sorry, it was a great presentation. Though I'm pretty new to all of this myself as well. Never been to something this fancy. If not for the dress uniform, really, I'd be out of luck!"

Indeed, it'd be his normal uniform or worse that he'd have to wear here if he hadn't had his proper dress uniform. Though more than that, it was just nice to see someone who felt similar enough about all of this from the sounds of it. Made it feel a bit less stiff and tense in the room for his part, at least, that much was for sure. More breathable.

As they all began eating, however, a few things became apparent. Minerva seemed to blow through the first plate of food. Like calories were just a suggestion to her in his eyes in terms of limits. Yet she did seem to have an athletic build for sure given what he'd glimpsed of her before during the sim. Curious. Meanwhile Corporal Lane had finally made an appearance, which felt slightly more surprising than Minerva for some reason to him based on first impressions alone, and Aurora and Sparks seemed to begin talking shop about Framewerk technologies in the meantime just before the Corporal's arrival it seemed. That and the arrival of Griff being in his pilot suit was certainly a thing he wouldn't have been able to guess at. Then again he sounded like a guy who'd just roll with whatever, maybe a touch of an athletic meathe-? ...Ahem.

Well as long as Griff wasn't the guy he'd known back in the pilot prep program at home that had downed five smuggled beers and two tall cans of mystery meat before nearly going off the railing of a second floor balcony the night before graduation back home. If he hadn't been there on a whim due to someone else pushing him to go to the student-formed party in someone's room, he'd have not been there to grab the back of the guy's shirt and get half-dragged off the railing before someone else grabbed his legs in turn. Their superior officer hadn't been much impressed, that much was for sure. There'd been so much toilet scrubbing for them all after that too. Ugh.

Mmm, though each bite of steak he'd start taking was quite nice. Tender, juicy, just as he liked it at a smooth medium rare. Sure steak had been a rare enough occasion back home, but it left him focusing and thinking about the aspects of each bite somewhat as he went along. Trying to get a read on it all. The seasonings, the lack or presence of some char on the exterior, choice in sautee if they'd used a little butter or not, etc, etc. In a similar fashion, he would try the potatoes and stir fry and make mental notes as he carefully tasted each before moving on to normally finish them in turn once he'd gotten a bead on each. Soft enough center, but well roasted, ah, he did have some small soft spot for potatoes perhaps. After all, long enough ago Lira had made some before his graduation, a rare recipe she'd learned from-....from....

...and for a silent minute the younger man would unthinkingly pause, untensils still in hand as his eyes lingered on the potatoes he had left for a moment. A wave of something washed over his body, it felt like, as his expression turned somewhat empty and nigh expressionless for a moment. Such a stupid matter, such little things, and here he was eating what could be his own last fancy meal in his life and this was getting to him. That person was. All of that crap was. But for a glimmer of a moment, he could smell it. See it in his mind's eye even without getting a literal glimpse of things. Could feel the warmth. Could hear the laughter. Could imagine the visages of smiles.

He then began to move his hands again, but they were hesitant all the same. They came up, then sat back down. Came up, then sat back down. Then finally he wouldfinally take another bite of roasted potatoes, chewing them slowly and letting the sensation linger. Just for a moment. Just to focus on that one glimmer the nostaligia brought to mind while it remained in the forefront of his mind's eye, despite everything. Despite himself. Despite this place, and all that had brought him here.

For a mere glimmer of a moment, it was as if he'd gone back to a better time and place that tugged away at his heart ache all the more. Even so, he'd savor it along with the food itself in any case...at least for just this evening.

SS Calliope, Western Sea, Eidda -> SS Calliope, Bjyerlfal City Docks, Byjerfal City | Morning

To say it was at least an entertaining and somewhat educational trip on the boat was at least to say something of the voyage. Not that it had been much of a voyage for her personally given her family's new home and location. Then again, Nicholas would have been estatic to watch the show playing out before their eyes at the very least. Someone likely from the local enclaves from Johto and Kanto, it would seem, facing the boat's captain on what was favorable terrain for the hosting party. A familiar face in terms of Pokemon was what the captain was using, while the latter was using a rather combative and speedy Pokemon. Two different fighting styles, then, made to clash under the morning sun and the salty sea spray as they made the trip to Byjerfal to meet with the Professor herself.

Though for her part Lina had put herself into the watching crowd at a decent distance to see things up close, albeit being more silent than the cheering crowds as a contemplative glint in her eyes simply sought to regard the moves, the choice of strategy, and the timing of it all. A suitable battle indeed, especially given the captain himself was a proper Gym Leader and she'd gotten on at the same stop as his opponent had. She didn't live too far from Byjerfal in the comparative sense, after all, and was able to meet the boat just before the journey's final leg in any case due to that.

Even so, the battle was certainly something that favored the eventual victor, it seemed, in this instance. All the same, a good battle was a good battle.

Yet when it came to getting bits of what others thought about the ongoing battle from the people around her along the way-

"Some imbeciles are too easily pleased."
???

...Not everyone seemed as content to be entertained by the display by the two trainers, or at least had thoughts on the crowd's reactions to it for the most part. At least in the case of a boy who seemed to push past her in the crowd as he moved to leave the throng of cheering passengers. Hmm. There was no pleasing everyone, really, but it had at least answered one thing she wanted to know about her new home region. Such was that one could find Dhelmise in these parts, which was certainly something that piqued her curiosity if nothing else. Would be good to know where and how to get one if possible, if the Gym Leader was amenable. Sure it wouldn't be the same as Alola, but having a Pokemon that could fit inside of buildings would be a good idea if she wanted to get along on her journey.

“Alright everyone! I hope you enjoyed the battle!” His voice echoed everyone over the ship, coming over through the PA system. “This is your Captain speaking! We’ll be pulling into port shortly! Everyone get ready to pack up and move out! If you need assistance, ask any of the crew! I’ll be out on deck.”
Captain Tuule/One Salty Sailing Seadog

At least she wasn't too close to the speakers when the Captain made his final call before they'd arrive at port.

"Weh!"

"ZUUUU!"
???

Not that everyone seemed to choose a good position with regards to the nearby speakers from the sounds of it.

They'd end up arriving at their destination of the docks of the city in good time in any case, enough time for her to at least step aside near the side railings ahead of time as the battle finished and crowd eventually began disembarking from the vessel.

After all, they'd been told to meet with the Captain himself to get directed to the Professor's lab, at least, and truth be told she didn't want to miss her party....or the chance to see the other new trainers employed by Camphor either. Those who were coming in by sea at the very least in this case. Even so, something inside ached to let out Jorm to at least stretch once they perhaps got beyond the docks. Would be easier and faster to move while sitting on his head, at least if the streets were wide enough.

But, well, that would be a thought for after she got sight of some of her new peers at any rate.

Reaching her right hand back without looking, Lina would find a particular pocket on her backpack and would soon draw out a bright red cherry lolipop. One that with nimble fingers would rapidly be freed from the prison of its wrapper and popped into her mouth for the moment being. First one of the day, so she figured it'd be good to be awake before meeting the Professor at least. At least a little more so than she was already. Even so she'd pocket the wrapper in her right pants pocket, the colorful wrapping having Johtonian script on it for reasons obvious enough to her. It was a favorite of her grandparents' house in Kalos that her grandmother would bring home a few boxes of to share with guests whenever she returned from a visit to her original home region of Johto.

...They had some rather good cherry lolipops indeed over there indeed. Even had a small design on the front of it of Entei. But again she digressed for a moment as she finally got her chance to approach the Captain as well, though it seemed a few people were just going to beat her to the punch already. At least she caught a little of what one of them said as well as her eyes went over and then inevitably down toward its source as Lina herself walked up to the gang of people meeting around the Captain it seemed.

"-'bout you bein' an escort to this loveliness and gettin' 'er to the lab o' 'at Prune-fessor, ye?"

Galarian accent there was almost as thick as the girl's chest was densely compacted into her poor, poor top. Not that she could point out all the local Galarian dialects by any means, but it was at least a familiar accent to her ears if nothing else. Cold place. Cool bikes. Chill Copperajah at that zoo all those years ago. Fun times. All the same, she could almost hear someone barking back at the girl in her mind in a similar accent barking out with some sort of Galarian slang.

The red-and-black haired girl's eyes then silently moved over to a slightly familiar figure, that of the sullen tall boy that pushed past her in the throng of the battle-watching crowd prior. Silent this time, or at least talking more quietly perhaps, while leaning on the rails nearby alongside a Rotom Phone who seemed to be looking out at the city. So he was another person here, also seemingly hired by the Professor or such. A bit rude seeming, or perhaps just a bad morning for all she knew, but he seemed quick to make comments about people from her most breif of interactions with him thus far.

Then came the movement of her eyes to the final person who seemed to be there, which was-

"I'm here to meet the professor, too!" She chirped, standing, well, more swaying from side to side on her toes, to some beat even she couldn't hear, bouncing up every so often then settling back to her swaying, beside the blondie, and only 'taller' than her by virtue of Lonitt now perched on top of her head, the two of them staring up at the old guy...then, she shrugged and looked to the blonde's face.

"I'm Melissa! Nice to meet you, coworker!" She chirped with a grin. Then she blinked.

"Zuu!" came from above her, and she nodded. "Right, and this is Lonitt! He, or she, is just the coolest ever!"

It reminded her of herself and Jorm, seeing that Azuril sitting on the blue haired girl's head as if it was a cushion. In that sense it was kind of adorable. Not that the bouncy tail of the Azumaril wasn't already a bouncy and cushy little thing on its own, mind, though it matched the cry she'd heard when the Captain made his announcement as well. Though from the looks of it all on just a passing glance, it was almost hard to decide which blue colored bubble of bouncing energy was the trainer and which was the Pokemon for a moment.

As stoic as ever in her visible disposition, Lina simply politely waited her turn to speak and others to be out of the way from the leaving throngs of people before she stepped forwards to join them.

"I take it those here are headed for Camphor's Lab?" she said, words rolling pleasantly in a calm yet casual cadence off of her tongue before she glanced at the others to confirm, even the sullen boy, before looking back at the Captain, "Also good battle back there, Captain, and your Dhelmise seems to be well cared for. Good sheen and density from the looks of its seaweed there even, from what I could tell off the cuff.

But if you'd not mind another question, I'd like to ask where and how I could best find a Dhelmise myself here in Eidda as well potentially."

Always good to get info on things, especially given what she was coming to Byjerfal to start doing after all. Among other things. Could work to get up the cash to get a decent rod, given some of her more personal travel plans, if need be. Etc. Yet she did at least want to be polite towards their Captain all the same in her language and such if nothing else.

@Floofenstein@Xaltwind@Savo

Wait, Lina fished up a Dhelmise!? Those things weigh 210 kilos/463 lbs! XD
Well, I guess it allowed itself to be fished up, heh. I sure hope that's the logic behind it being fished up in the main games...
I now realize that's the only way to get a Dhelmise in Sun/Moon. Either Pokémon protagonists are very strong, or, well, the Dhelmise's like being fished up.

It was curious. It followed the line back up. It found a kid who was surprised. It was also surprised.

Shenanigans of a whimsically wholesome sort ensued! :P

Truthfully she might look for another one, depending on what kind of rod we have to find to fish such a thing!

But also depends on the journey as well of course.
@Crusader Lord

Alright! Ryuuichi may get someone to trauma bond with about being nearly killed by Pokémon woot woot.

Ryuuichi: "Trauma bond person?" :O

*the Rock-type Onix she is sitting atop the head of, tilting its head curiously*

Also Ryuuichi, potentially, having Nam' flashbacks a second later: "Rocks, why did it have to be Rocks?!"

Though I did not expect to see a second Trapinch.

"No one expects the Trapinch Inquisition!"

Jokes aside, I'm not sure the GM is allowing duplicate starter mons? You're probably fine though, since you came along first and got approved.

So many people with Ground type starters. Makes a guy with an Electric starter feel kinda targeted. xD

There's two water starters technically one but Azuril becomes part water after evolving I think on the cast atm. 3-4 with ground typing depending on how things go. 1 with rock typing. 1 fighting type. 1 that doubles as a fashionable hat. 1 psychic type. Then you with 1 electric type.

And two of those ground types either gain a secondary typing to switch out the ground typing on evolution. Hmm.

Anywho that's what I am seeing on the fly in terms of start pokemon typing trends here so far unless I missed something due to tired. I think? I think therefore I overthink. XD

They're tiny lil' dragons, after all. Who doesn't want of those? :D

The Mental Image I Just Had:

*a tiny dragon now forms a tiny dragon hoard on top of a cabinet above the fridge, and now patrols the kitchen for bugs each night and collects lost paper clips and coins from between seat cushions of the couch one room over*

Also, for anyone interested there is a Discord server set up for the RP if anyone wants in. Just click on the big picture in the zeroth post and it is actually a link to the Discord server! For those interested at least.

Earlier

The day had certainly been an....eventful one, given the antics of the old fruit bat and the responses of the others, already. Busy for sure, and yet he'd had to make a decision after getting word of being able to swap out with some standard systems and thumbing through public records of his teammates' units (among other things) on his datapad. It had taken some thought, and he felt somewhat stuck in his choices while going about things before the meal. What to choose? He felt losing the MFCS was perhaps the best bet, given his failure to really pay it mind here and there even before the simulation battle and his short participation in it. But what to replace it with? There were plenty of good Secondary Systems for him to choose from, though, but this early on....it was rough to grasp just what would be needed later until he got a better understanding in the field in the practical sense. Training was one thing, but he'd always heard and gotten the idea that battle was a whole other 'ballgame' as he'd had one vet back home put it when talking to him.

Still....Phase Shift seemed to be the first thing that came to his mind, a more experimental system that frankly the Rex was built to be able to handle and be adapted to. In that sense he'd have enough to defend with on the fly and in more than one possible way. Barrier, phasing through things (which seemed absurd), and then Stargazer for the longer-ranged threats. At the same time, however, it did come to mind that he'd also neglected to use the Stargazer in battle. Perhaps it could have helped him redirect the enemy attack? Perhaps...or perhaps not. In that vein, he needed to go train a lot with it before his first field battle. Drill with it and the rest of the Rex's kit more actively, maybe taking some time each day for it? Sounded like a plan! It'd give him a nice training block in the simulation, where it'd be 1-to-1 with him actually operating things in his unit at least, so that made enough sense.

Though another thought that also hit his mind, then, was something the Professor had said. Noting that if he'd had the "support of a team" he'd have been better off. Well, that and not shooting at a speedy melee foe, but he'd not had much he could see at that time to act upon. In fact his response had been rather prompt and instinctual, to admit the truth, yet that was just the thing. He'd had 'not much he could see' at the time. The MFCS could have done some recon for him, but then it was limited how much of the battlefield he could see. If he saw more, he could better pick and attack targets. If he AND his team could see and learn more, then it helped them all better survive along with giving him some-...hmm. Air Recon Drones, perhaps? That'd mostly fit the bill, but even so it all felt so uncertain that he simply would try to brush the matter off for the time being-

*Ding*

Eh?

Picking up his datapad as it lightly chimed in at him with a 'new message' alert, the brown haired man thumbed through to open the message and raised an eyebrow for a moment. Corporal Ava? She was one of the two new leaders of the group for field work, it seemed, but she was already thinking about such things as equipment replacements for them all? Rather studious of her, he had to admit, to give her thoughts and send them out. Luckily she wasn't trying to order them to take her reccomendations, though even then-....well, it wasn't coming to that at the very least. No use entertaining the alternative, as Ava seemed to be taking that sort of things into consideration already. Just another thing to brush off for the moment being, though he'd at least read what she wrote in his little section in the group-delivered message.

As someone who took you out, allow me to say that, in my opinion, your main mistake during the simulation was to take a shot at Argent Wings at that distance. Generally, a sniper should avoid shooting while there is a hostile unit close enough to get in close before you can reposition. A sniper is a very valuable part of a unit. Due to the high penetrative power of your weapon, one good shot is possibly enough to take out high-priority targets or pick off lone, unsuspecting targets. Therefore, the longer a sniper survives, the more they can rack up kills, and thus the more they will contribute to the victory of the team. For example, had you survived longer instead of taking the chance to take me out, by the endgame, your victory would have been possible, as you could easily snipe the rest of us whose frames are already damaged with reduced mobility. Thus, always prioritise repositioning over carelessly taking shots unless absolutely necessary.

As for my advice on Rex Artus' system, I recommend switching Multiple Fire Control System with Automated Targeting System. This Secondary System would allow you to fire your weapon in rapid succession, be it at the same target or at two different targets, maximising the time you have before having to reposition by being able to fire your weapons more.
Corporal Ava

Hmm. It was a good point on the system reccomendation in the sense that his weapon was on its own a slow reloader. But to rush two shots out of it? He wasn't sure if the tech could make that little miracle work out. It wasn't some Slag Cannon, after all, where he could slam two shots in rapid sucession. However, that mental image was enough for him to put a mental pin in some thoughts that it brought up inside his head all the same. Good. Or maybe he'd joot a note down on his datapad for himself to see later as well. Maybe just make a note with a list of ideas at that. Yeah, that'd be great!

Though her assessment of his performance in the simulation was also something that, for the most part, he felt matched up with his own thoughts on the matter. He'd willingly tossed aside his win condition, however, for reason he still was curious about the Professor not bringing up to him for some reason. Or perhaps it was a whole "I'll lexture others on it and you better pick up on it boy" type of situation. Now that? That'd also make sense, but he'd not try to overthink it too much more than that. Though thinking back on his problems of vision, certainly that'd help him be able to better navigate things? His Attack Drones were meant to help defend him by intercepting targets and assist in attacking alike. Hmm...ah! He'd add that to the new note he was already going to make along with the other thing that had already come to mind anyways.

But he did, however, want to send a response to the Corporal out of respect for her frankness and thoughts, or if nothing else to point one or two things out he didn't expect anyone to be a mind reader for anywho-

'Corporal Lane,

Good to hear your thoughts on things, as I've already been considering replacing my MFCS on the Rex by this point as well. I am considering a few options, though an Automated Targeting System might be useful if I get a more rapid-fire supporting armament for improved repositioning capabilities eventually. Or such is my own thoughts on the topic of your particular suggestion for a replacement system at this venture. Though one other thing stood out to me in hindsight of the battle, in that vein of systems to improve battlefield performance, which I feel needs to be considered before we get out there for real combat...and that is reconissance and gathering intel. Could be just my lack of experience after just arriving here and not having been in a proper battle yet out there, however, but I'll try to briefly explain my point.

I don't mean to put down the Logic Driver and its pilot in saying this, but flipping through some public files of everyone's Framewerks and seeing how things went down it seems most of our recon is grounded or is of a lighter (even if well armored by the standards of their weight class) units. Only two of us have stealth measures, and one of those isn't primarily a recon unit it would seem (the Guinevere) while still being a support.

We lack things such as Air Recon Drones and such that would be able to gather more intel in more ways in case of battlefield disruptions that might endanger vanguards and scouting units that move farther ahead, but be able do so without putting our own too far ahead into danger perhaps. Then again, perhaps too many 'eyes' on things would maybe muddy the lines of communication and data gathering as well I'd think. But making sure we have the best info out there that we reasonably can, and having some redundancy in case of problems that might inevitably arise out there, could perhaps raise survivability? Those are my thoughts on the topic at least.

This is also why I am considering such drones as one of the options for the Rex to replace the MFCS with, but more so I wanted to get your thoughts on this topic with regards to the team as a whole as a more seasoned pilot who's been out there before.

As for what I did in the simulation, my intention of shooting at you was priamrily to buy the Logic Driver and her allies some time admittedly. Leverage my imminent threat to draw attention, thus enabling a rescue and applying sudden pressure from elsewhere to potential threats. My drones, meanwhile, were used for trying to help pressure the Argo simultenously. After the meeting, though, I have considered the idea of maybe having used a suicide drone in case of getting charged by a melee foe, using it to intercept an attacker with a wider explosion of its plasma core.

I hope I'm not being too wordy, but all the same I appreciate hearing your thoughts on things and your perspective to boot. I wanted to send this message back with my own thoughts in turn.

-Lucius

After hitting 'send' on the message, however, the brown haired boy put his datapad to the side and felt a small whoosh of air come out from between his lips for a moment. Was this woman one of those super uptight sorts in other ways? Sure she was considerate in her message, but....eh, no use worrying about it now, right? Not when there were places on the ship to see, and when there was trying to acclimate himself more to this vessel's nooks and crannies he felt that was important as well. More familiar he was with the ship, more familiar he'd be if it was in an emergency perhaps.

Besides, facing the 'Cruxi Fister' wasn't on his bingo card. Maybe someone like Griffith back there would be the type to rush in, but as a ranged build like his? He hadn't the armor and sheer means of keeping an opponent at arm's length to go solo at this point in time.

As Lucius walked into the room, he couldn't help but look about for a moment to take in the scenery. THIS is what he had turned the cafeteria itself into? Delicate silverware, paired with honest-to-Solaire candles, and lovely white tablecloth placed over it as as if it was a five star restaurant? All to the tune of gentle music, a well cleared-out-space for their tables, and yet their host had yet to be seen? Sheesh. It made what he was wearing feel a bit too unfitting for the occasion, even if he'd done his best to put on something 'nice' given Arrish seemed like a rich nobleman, and even more so after having seen an actual glimpse of the venue for later in his own way and feeling it was a 'hint' at what he needed to wear for the occasion. Was it 'cheating'? Perhaps, but being here in-person certainly did enhance the reality of the vision nontheless and made him take more of a pause.

Adorning his cleanly-washed body was nothing short of his full and rather oddly tidy dress uniform, something that had been neatly packed and brought along for the ride on the shuttle along with his other effects. A neatly-suited black coat with long sleeves adorned his exterior torso, being adorned with golden buttons and a formal yellow trim along a patch on his right shoulder designating his rank in the Federation Military proper. Underneath this, and invisible from sight for now, was formal lighter blue shirt underneath that was cleanly buttoned-up in full and even gently ironed out just before Lucius had left to join the meal. Meanwhile the collar of the underlying buttoned-up shirt had a neartly hand-tied simple black tie poking up visibly at the front-bottom of his collar in normal fashion, though it too was hidden from sight for now. Combined with a similarly-themed pair of white dress uniform pants, a white belt with golden buckler at its center that sat about his wait over the top of the dress coat, and the pair of short and formal yet almost gentlemanly white gloves adorning his hands, Lucius was decked out in the 'best' that he frankly had with him as far as he was aware. No fancy tuxedo or such things, nor the money of nobles to buy things on the fly, etc. Military didn't pay much despite the war, which was certianly something, but he digressed.

Still, a white cap with a properly centered golden insignia of the Galactic Federation on it, and a smooth black brim, sat atop his head just as a pair of formal dress uniform shoes all shiny and new adorned on his feet as he moved forward from the entrance after his brief pause to look about. The first thing he'd note, however, was the presence of a certain blue-haired girl and Aurora. The former seemed as if she felt out of places....and the latter seemed to hold herself like a noblewoman who was used to such occasions as these, if he had to put some words to his thoughts on the matter. One seemed more simply but well dressed, a kind of semi-formal that almost felt like prom back home at his school (he'd never gotten to go but had seen pictures from his younger brother sneaking into it with his older date for the occasion), and yet the latter seemed to have a rather nice and fancy enough dress on that seemed to be 'simple yet elegant' if he had to put words to it.

Yet there was no one else here yet? Really? It was nothing against the two women, but rather a thought aimed at wondering who would turn down a nice steak dinner of all things. Well, not that everyone ate meat, he was aware of that, but...still.

"Good to see you two here," Lucius said as he approached the table where Serah and Aurora were at, giving a polite semi-bow after gently taking off his hat with his right hand and holding it to his chest in a formal fashion before then letting the cap-in-hand and his right arm overall sit properly at his side. Even then, his back and arms felt stiff despite how much he'd been drilled in formalities like this too back home (and to try to adjust him to them). In that sense, it left him feeling as if perhaps all the drilling and shouting had been worth it to get him into shape for occasions like this as well unless he bungled it up somehow of course.

"May I sit with you?"

His brown hair had even been brushed to a fine smoothness beyond his usual messier hairdo when in casual settings, that much was for sure, though the cap had ever so slightly begun to undo that when he'd worn it to come to the cafeteria in turn. Still, smooth chocolate brown eyes would look breifly, politely, and yet wholly without judgement at the same time at Serah and Aurora. This as a softly warm but smaller smile came to his face more naturally, feeling so despite his own attempt to maintain and match the energy of the venue and likewise more formal tone he had just adopted for the moment being. Even so, his left hand would breifly rise to somewhat adjust his dress coat collar for a moment all the same.

Albeit internally the younger man felt more of a twinge of nervousness in even asking the two, rather than him just sitting alone in a corner nearest to the door. Sure they were supposed to be a 'team', and he needed to get to know them, but he almost felt like an utter outside in all of this still. As if he hadn't the time or knowledge of anyone to justify asking such a thing, and in that sense he wasn't welcome, an isolating feeling he was at least keeping under wraps for the time being. Because really the promise of hot, fresh food made his 'second brain' act in ways to help counteract those bottled up less-than-welcome feelings of his a bit more if nothing else.
