Your sheet is in a good place. We've already spoken about it and tossed ideas back and forth a bit on the Discord, so I'm overall happy with the contents. A few more things did stand out to me this time though though.

Starting in the aspect section, I recall telling you that it was very narrow and that you should try to find concrete examples of what you might do with it. I see elements of both Oaths and Hierarchy creeping in. These additions are interesting topics, they occupy unique niches that shouldn't step on others' toes, and most important they offer you some much-needed breadth. So with that said I think it's good that you included these parts, though it does feel like you're straining and stretching the concept of 'honor' a bit. Other things like Order, Law, and the like were already suggested to you though, and if you still like honor and think it's the best description then you can keep it.

I want to discuss the following line in some depth, "...Homura magically marks those that have committed crimes against the self and the world with eldritch runes that reveal their shameful nature." Before I forget, using the term 'eldritch runes' seems really] odd and somewhat out of place; I get what you're going for and recall your asking me about using something like the Mark of Cain, but eldritch runes? It seems thematically inappropriate and it really evokes a strange vibe of glowing purple symbols or something, and I doubt that connotation is what you were going for. That's a somewhat minor detail though, more importantly I brought up this line because would like to see you expand upon it with more explanation. Just what would she construe as a 'crime against the self and the world'? Any violation of her codes of honor? How egregious of a crime are we talking? Is this only for those that don't repent, since you say she's easily swayed by as much? Is there some way in particular that she finds those that she deems worthy of punishment? Those are just a few of my questions. You need not answer them all in the sheet or write a whole essay to answer any and all possible questions, but hopefully they'll be helpful for you to mull over. In any case this line seems like a pretty big deal and like it warrants more than the half-sentence it's given here.

The personality is short, sweet, and to the point. Little to nothing seems to have been changed there since the earlier iteration of your sheet that I initially commented upon, but that's fine but nothing needed to be changed. I think I've already praised it and stated that I like how she can be swayed through promises of repentance and the like.

And again, I praise the true form! Very thematic and cool. The anime girl picture for the more typical form is uber lame though! (don't take it too personally, I just think anime is dumb lol).

Your sheet's in a state that I think warrants acceptance; I'd like it if you followed my suggestion to elaborate upon the 'Mark of Cain' part though, because I think it's an interesting and rather important part of the character that's been more or less glossed over.

A very concise and to-the-point sheet here. That makes this pretty easy.

Starting off with aspect, darkness is definitely cool and workable. We've had Melantha and some other characters run it in the past iterations so there's those for inspiration if you ever were to need it or run out of ideas, but I don't think you will. Notably there may be a bit of toe-stepping with Yeseris (the Parasite god) adopting metaphorical 'parasites' like beggars and thieves and acting as a patron of sorts to them; I can see you perhaps having wanted to take a similar role, but maybe there's space enough there for the two of you. I can easily see Yeseris being more favored by those truly vile and lost sorts that go around preying on others without any scruples, and Zelios by those who are more of the good sort who have just fallen upon bad circumstances. You give concrete examples of powers that Darkness entails, like stifling light, moving unseen or discretely, and manipulating or animating shadows. I suppose this is a wide enough range and I can't think of much else to suggest off the top of my head, but damn, just one paragraph for the aspect section is somewhat staggering. Feels like something must be missing, even though you've covered all the necessary bases. Oh, I know -- it's all the fluff :P

The persona section paints a good picture of a benevolent god of darkness, a somewhat refreshing and less common spin on the trope. I like his quirks about favoring the downtrodden and disliking tyrants, and I particularly am appeased by how you actually take the step of explaining what he considers 'tyranny' -- I'd have asked you about that if you hadn't. The only question I have left is what exactly he does to 'tyrants' and those that he doesn't approve of. Is he an interventionist sort of god, or would he sit back and just frown at those sorts? If he is willing to intervene and try to thwart or topple such people, I imagine he does this through plotting and conspiracy, but would he go so far as to assassinate them? I think answering those questions in a couple more sentences would lead you down an interesting line of thought and give us a complete picture of Zelios' persona.

Lauder and I both agreed that your true form was particularly cool. Blessing those touched by it with superior eyesight at night whilst simultaneously cursing them to be blinded by bright light is a quite thematic touch. We really liked that part of your sheet; good job!

Your sheet is accepted. I do think it feels like it's quite lean though. Adding a little bit of fluff really wouldn't hurt, but that's just a suggestion -- the only thing I explicitly ask for is that you elaborate a little bit on the part under persona that I asked about. Once that's done post it in the characters section and you're good to go.

Aspect of Prescience

All of reality is a tapestry, many-colored and wrinkled and ineffably vast. The threads of reality are woven not by one seamstress that dictates Fate, but by immeasurably numerous needles driven by the actions of every being. There is much discord and mayhem in the sewing, but a potent enough mind with the gift of powerful sight can shatter through the illusory veil of the physical world and look across creation from the edge of reality. So then, given enough discernment and perception it is only natural that one can begin to capture glimpses of the Grand Design of the universe -- this is prescience, the Sight, seeing the unseen and coming to know the unknowable.

Prescience entails careful examination of the needles’ motions to guess at the Grand Design and predict the future, or possible futures, with some accuracy. Attaining complete certainty in the foresight garnered through such means is an impossible feat, for free will is a fickle thing and the motions of the needles can be ever changing. In particular, an incomplete understanding of another’s intentions -- especially if that person themself is undecided in their desires and does not know what they will do -- is anathema to accurate and precise foresight. The impulsivity and free will of mortals and divines alike can change the course of fate and make careful predictions worthless within mere moments. Further, there are so many needles that it is unthinkable to account for the motions of them all, but it can be much easier and more practical to identify and examine a select few needles and threads to guess at what their future holds. In general, foresight becomes exponentially more difficult as one seeks to look further into the future, as well as to account for larger areas and the influence of more beings.

Fortunately the power of prescience is far from its end there, with dubious predictions of the future. Through it one can also loosen the shackles imposed by Time’s eternal march: then, the prescient one may turn their back to the ongoing needlework and cast their gaze back across the tapestry in the opposite direction. Through witnessing the stitchings far back, woven in the past, it is possible to attain an understanding and knowledge of events that have already transpired, even if one was not there to witness them. Here there need not be any uncertainty either, for the threads are already sewn and one can come to make sense of their tangle to gain a perfect and objective understanding. Know that the ink is dry upon the page of histoires, so to speak -- changing the past is an incredibly dangerous folly, and likely impossible too, for the threads of the tapestry are woven together tightly and made all but immutable.

Know also that Time’s eternal advance cannot be stopped by any -- even He Who Turns the Flow is merely capable of setting the time of the beat to which it marches -- so for every moment spent crawling back across the tapestry to wallow in the past, a moment of the present is spent. Further, to invoke prescience is to look through the veil and project’s one’s mind into the edge of reality, but the body does not follow, for this is a journey that it could not possibly take. That is to say that while one wallows in the past or tries to determine the future, their corporeal form remains vulnerable and in place throughout the whole ordeal; there is no fleeing to the past or future, but paradoxically, slipping into a prescience-induced coma need not be a great risk. Though the prescient are made vulnerable when using their Sight, so too are they made aware of their own needle and thread, and the wise among them will be sure not to become so caught up in the majesty of the tapestry that they ever lose sight of their own manifestations within it. If some adversary sought to harm them in this vulnerable state then said being’s own needle and thread would invariably be drawn close to that of the prescient’s. That then would be all the warning that a vigilant and cautious prescient would need to know to recall their mind back to their body and look to their defense.

Awareness of the true nature of reality and of this power is the first step to awakening prescience, but even afterward, one must have an extraordinarily sharp and powerful perception in order to find any practical use in it. But Yudaiel is a reverberation in the fabric of the tapestry; by her very nature, she is as eminently attuned to and aware of the needlework as any being could possibly become. Yudaiel’s powers over the aspect of prescience grant the unimaginably potent perception that is hers, and enable her to see things that have already passed, things happening now yet far away, and things that may yet come to pass. Further, she is the most powerful prescient being in existence and that ever could exist so long as her aspect remains hers. Like a spiderweb, the fabric is ever-present yet nearly invisible unless lit just right, and the Reverberation that is Yudaiel is what illuminates these mysteries to other eyes. She has pierced the veil and enabled prescience for all others with the eyes and the mind for Sight. Even those who lack the discipline or faculties are sometimes gifted temporary prescience, most often in their dreams when the mind is more malleable, if the Lady of Far and Near wills it.

Persona

Yudaiel rarely speaks, even to fellow deities, for she thinks the act beneath her. Words are surely for the blind, as those who can see should surely rather be shown than told. She prefers to communicate instead by invoking bouts and flashes of prescient thought, essentially projecting vivid imagery laced with raw emotion into the minds of others. She calls these potent messages of sorts ’ideabstractions’. Communicating through ideabstractions has the side effect of making her highly persuasive, even if she lacks true charisma -- what better way to manipulate someone into doing what you want than by thrusting upon them a sense of urgency and a compulsion to do just that thing, and by showing them a superreal vision of the pleasurable and good outcome that will inevitably follow? She definitely knows what she wants -- though others certainly don’t, not even the Monarch, for she purposefully masks her enigmatic intentions -- and is Machiavellian and supremely manipulative in her pursuits of these ambitions and desires of hers. Presumably there is a certain possible future or futures that she has seen, and her grand ambition then would be to ensure that such a Fate comes to pass. She is pragmatic and utilitarian in philosophy, more than willing to commit evils in order to bring about good as she perceives it.

Caution, perhaps to the point of paranoia, is ever present in the Great and All-Seeing Eye. Sometimes it may cloud her vision, but her fears are warranted. How could one with a nature so alien and a Sight so powerful as her not evoke envy or fear or loathing in all others? For this reason she often seeks to make herself and her visions of some use to the other gods should they come to her for aid or counsel, and is sometimes wont to even show up to provide favors unsolicited. This facade of generosity is adopted with the intent of suppressing feelings of animosity and avoiding conflict, though admittedly she also hopes for reciprocity from the other deities should she in turn need their help. She doesn’t truly like most of them, but she does respect them as powerful forces in their own right, players in the game that she would rather keep in accordance with her own machinations and plans than deal with as rivals or enemies.

Though she tries to show no outward signs of it, and probably succeeds in masking it quite well, Yudaiel craves power. Tantalized in perpetuity with visions of grandeur, how could she not be enticed by the prospect of becoming as awesome and beloved and feared and mighty as she could possibly be? She is not opposed to the idea of allowing calamity to arise (or outright causing it to) rather than acting preemptively to snuff it out long beforehand, if only so that she then has the opportunity to arrive in the nick of time with knowledge and solution in hand to remedy the matter and be the savior. Such games, if they are not seen through by others, can only further heighten her perceived power and helpfulness. While giving prophecies that do not come to pass would undermine perceptions of her own accuracy and power and be very embarrassing, she may on occasion be willing to lie about what she’s seen with her Sight -- if giving the false prophecy would somehow work to her benefit, that is.

Omniscience, the state of having experienced every possible moment that passes, and of having seen everything in the past and the future, is something that Yudaiel would openly admit to longing for. Who wouldn’t? But she’s convinced that attaining omniscience is an outright impossibility, for Fate’s great irony and cruelty is that for every moment that one does experience, they miss out on innumerable others. Using prescience to experience the past loses much of its appeal when one realizes they sacrifice their time in the present, but on occasion Yudaiel likes to indulge herself by reliving, over and over, moments of great beauty or triumph or pride. The effect can be somewhat intoxicating, especially if reliving her own fondest memories, but at times she may even go back into the past to secretly witness again and again the moments of another’s life, to vicariously cherish their feelings at the time. Occasionally this can take a darker or self-flagellating turn, if she is enraged or depressed she may force herself to experience her own failure again and again, with the hopes of perhaps gleaning something more from it with each time or of just wallowing in her own misery.

There is little that Yudaiel despises more than the insane, the impulsive and impetuous, the indecisive: in short, the unpredictable. Such beings almost cause her physical pain, and they certainly tend to draw her ire, because their actions are erratic in nature and extremely difficult to account for in her Prescient visions of the future. Because they dampen her own powers of Sight, she in turn often seeks to suppress or remove them from the picture. This sometimes involves trying to bring about their demise as implied, but other times it’s easier and almost as effective to merely convince or force them to go somewhere else, or commit to doing something more predictable and less disruptive to other events.

True Form

Yudaiel is but a reverberation in the tapestry, a ripple in reality. Her true form, and the only form that she ever deigns to take, is formlessness itself. In this state she is ethereal and invisible to mundane eyes, existing as mere sound at most: whispering in the wind, a soft sigh, the hushing of a tiny waterfall, the gentle rustling of falling leaves in the breeze.

For all its subtlety this form is still an immense one, sprawling out as large as the sky itself and often touching much of Galbar; however, Yudaiel’s diffused spirit and divine essence are always most concentrated somewhere in a relatively small area, and it is from that fulcral spot that the rest of her essence hangs like a vast cloud. But there, at the heart of this colossal form, space itself can appear slightly bent and distorted by the Reverberation. Gods, or those beings with true and powerful sight, can make sense of her scattered ethereal essence and witness her full glory: she is a gargantuan eye the size of a continent, the ‘heart’ of her body the pupil. Hers is a piercing stare that bores through space and stone and reality itself, to gaze back and forth between the dark beginnings of time and the great unknown beyond.

Those who somehow approach the heart of her body, the pupil of the Great and All-Seeing Eye, are invariably touched and imprinted upon by her essence. Through this contact their perception is widened. The mind expands to shatter the carefully wrought walls that had confined it comfortably within the bounds of sanity and mundanity, their eyes consumed with visions of the chaos and marvels and horrors of the boundless tapestry as the Sight takes hold. Lesser minds cannot withstand these revelations and are broken in mere moments, the sanity of mortals tends to come unraveled like a loose spool of yarn tossed into a bottomless abyss. Yet those who can survive such a potent touch and the effects of Yudaiel’s imprinting have the potential of their minds unlocked, and they are made capable of becoming very powerful with the Sight.

When she thinks interfering with the affairs of mortals to be necessary, she is usually content to merely influence them from afar by touching their minds with dreams and ideabstractions. The less introspective might not even be able to distinguish these from their own thoughts. Thus assuming some alternative simulacrum to manifest before them is unnecessary -- she rarely even speaks to mortals, but if she were to do so, it would be as a disembodied voice that seems to emerge as a pattern from the sound all around, be that the billowing wind, the rustling leaves, the humming insects, or the rolling waves.

Your sheet is verbose to the point of excess, but at least you had the decency to put in those little quote things for a tl;dr. I didn't actually read the whole thing so my criticisms will be superficial, but they are as follows:

Starting with aspect, time shenanigans? You know this one so often turns out poorly...you may have to kill off your own god a la Vowzra. Moreover you took heavy inspiration from the Dune books, and didn't even bother to hide it! Look at that musical theme! Pah, at least you don't have true time travel or time loops or paradoxes or anything that could break the continuity of the story too badly...wait a minute, "...changing the past is an incredibly dangerous folly, and likely impossible too..." Gah, I see you with your if's, but's, maybe's, and possibly's, a toe still wedged in there trying to hold open the door! You play with fire taunting us so, fool.

The personality section mentioned that she sometimes gives false prophecies is a hilariously meta commentary about shifting OOC plans. Why can't she just give non-cryptic and accurate prophecies all the time? Also, if she wants to kill crazy people, how can she also seek to befriend the other deities who are allcrazy? Get your stuff straightened out!

This sometimes involves trying to bring about their demise as implied, but other times it’s easier and almost as effective to merely convince or force them to go somewhere else, or commit to doing something more predictable and less disruptive to other events.

True Form

formlessness itself….ethereal and invisible to mundane eyes...a gargantuan eye the size of a continent...that bores through space and stone and reality itself, to gaze back and forth between the dark beginnings of time and the great unknown beyond...

Yudaiel is but a reverberation in the tapestry, a ripple in reality. Her true form, and the only form that she ever deigns to take, is formlessness itself. In this state she is ethereal and invisible to mundane eyes, existing as mere sound at most: whispering in the wind, a soft sigh, the hushing of a tiny waterfall, the gentle rustling of falling leaves in the breeze.

For all its subtlety this form is still an immense one, sprawling out as large as the sky itself and often touching much of Galbar; however, Yudaiel’s diffused spirit and divine essence are always most concentrated somewhere in a relatively small area, and it is from that fulcral spot that the rest of her essence hangs like a vast cloud. But there, at the heart of this colossal form, space itself can appear slightly bent and distorted by the Reverberation. Gods, or those beings with true and powerful sight, can make sense of her scattered ethereal essence and witness her full glory: she is a gargantuan eye the size of a continent, the ‘heart’ of her body the pupil. Hers is a piercing stare that bores through space and stone and reality itself, to gaze back and forth between the dark beginnings of time and the great unknown beyond.

Those who somehow approach the heart of her body, the pupil of the Great and All-Seeing Eye, are invariably touched and imprinted upon by her essence. Through this contact their perception is widened. The mind expands to shatter the carefully wrought walls that had confined it comfortably within the bounds of sanity and mundanity, their eyes consumed with visions of the chaos and marvels and horrors of the boundless tapestry as the Sight takes hold. Lesser minds cannot withstand these revelations and are broken in mere moments, the sanity of mortals tends to come unraveled like a loose spool of yarn tossed into a bottomless abyss. Yet those who can survive such a potent touch and the effects of Yudaiel’s imprinting have the potential of their minds unlocked, and they are made capable of becoming very powerful with the Sight.

When she thinks interfering with the affairs of mortals to be necessary, she is usually content to merely influence them from afar by touching their minds with dreams and ideabstractions. The less introspective might not even be able to distinguish these from their own thoughts. Thus assuming some alternative simulacrum to manifest before them is unnecessary -- she rarely even speaks to mortals, but if she were to do so, it would be as a disembodied voice that seems to emerge as a pattern from the sound all around, be that the billowing wind, the rustling leaves, the humming insects, or the rolling waves.

Much of what was said to Saucer for Jiugui can be repeated here.

Now Revelry is a broader Aspect than Wine I think, and I can see you quite easily and naturally doing some things with it, and also broadening out to similar Aspects that might include Song etc. So the main question I suppose is whether you’ve thought this through and are convinced that you’ll find enough to do, even with your toes being stepped on a little by the Dance and Wine gods. Do you have any ideas about creating cults of revelers that run off into the woods, or maybe even whole civilizations? Or interacting with all the mortal civilizations that others have pop up to spread theater and the like? If so (and I imagine this is the case) then I’m satisfied in the end. Lauder and Frettzo had nothing but compliments to give to your sheet as well.

The indecisiveness and impulsivity indicated in persona give you carte blanche to do all sorts of seemingly random things without it being out of character, which leaves your options open and is good. This is somewhat offset by her apparently rejecting responsibility (again in a very similar vein to Jiugui; they’re definitely twins haha) and being absorbed by things like what clothes to wear etc., which are traits that don’t necessarily lend themselves towards it being easy for you to find ways to get involved and be proactive in doing things in the story. But that’s not a problem or indictment of any sort, just something to keep in mind as it makes this sort of character harder. I don’t really know you, but many others here do, and as you were good enough to be a GM for one of the past iterations I’ll trust in your ability to make something like this work.

I’m very fond of the true form! It stands out and is thematically appropriate.

All around a solid sheet. We have no real criticisms for you, so you’re of course accepted.

I’m glad that you started again with a blank slate because the results were good: we’re much fonder of this character than of your previous one. There seems to be considerably more potential, and a character such as this will be a change of pace from your past ones that I can remember.

The Aspect is concisely described but broad and useful. Combined with the laid back personality, this gives Arvum the ability to pretty easily slide in and interact with any mortal civilization that you want, and probably the proclivity to do so. On the topic of persona, we have here an effective goody two-shoes, but that’s not at all a bad thing. Him being prepared to stand up to betrayers and protect children etc. will probably give ample reason and justification to interact with others in the cast and setting, and will probably likewise help the setting from getting too grimdark. His lax attitude and not caring about worship or devotions to him is also somewhat unique in this cast, which helps him stand out in a good way.

I do quite like the true form -- it’s nothing crazy, but just a bit odd so that it has a unique twist. It’s certainly thematic too, and the effects of his presence are my favorite part. Like Rainbow’s Knowledge God you set him up as an exception in that being in his vicinity is comparatively not so deadly to mortals, which is appropriate and fitting, but the detail that everything instead becomes laborious and exhausting is a good one. I imagine that if conflict or fights ever do erupt, that might be his move -- sapping the strength and will from whatever adversary he’s facing so that they become sluggish and tired.

Your sheet is happily accepted as is. It’s short but sweet and we have no criticisms or alterations to suggest.

There is potential here. To be succinctly though, upon first appearance I’m getting vibes that this character seems more tailored to running off and doing his own thing rather than contributing to worldbuilding or interacting much.

My concerns can begin with the Aspect; what do you intend to do with Fortitude? ‘Heavily conditioned and quite narrow,’ were words that some of the other GMs used to describe it in our conversation; however, Lauder in particular was still a fan of the idea of Fortitude. So sell me and Frettzo on it -- what specific, concrete powers can you think of for it? Perhaps it’s just my lack of creativity, but I genuinely don’t see many uses for such an Aspect. Perhaps you could elucidate some of your intent and plans to us; it may just be that you’re going for some theme that I don’t see. Are you perhaps going to mostly focus on making and inspiring champions and the like?

The personality section exacerbates some of my above concerns. There is nothing wrong with gods that value free-will and individuals and chafe against some of their loftiers peers -- I’m actually happy that at least a few of the caste are looking to be like that. What has me somewhat concerned is that we have this combination of a non-interventionist deity (who would like nothing more than to disappear, you say) of an aspect that’s so challenging to use and which doesn’t necessitate much interaction with others. There’s perhaps some saving grace: placing emphasis upon his distaste for those who treat their mortal worshipers as expendable, perhaps extended to those who are vain enough to demand too much worship (however he might judge that) or just abuse mortals in general, could let you create some interesting conflicts that lead to posts and story arcs.

That said the quality of writing in your sheet is good and I do err towards accepting it without any major alterations. Help push me over the edge though -- respond to some of these things on the Discord and tell us a bit about your plans, and you’ll be accepted. I’m going to put your sheet in limbo in the meantime.

I was musing a while ago that we seem to have an unusually benevolent pantheon this time, with many outright goody two-shoes and few true evil sorts, much less ‘chaotic evil’ types. So there’s space for a Gravemind-esque, parasitic horror.

While Parasites might seem niche upon a first glance I think there’s actually a lot to it: in a sense it’s broad because you can do everything from cause zombie apocalypses to pestering mortals with mosquitoes, and you could perhaps even create entire sub-civilizations of vampires, ghouls, and the like that live in the sewers and act as parasites for the various mortal realms. There is a lot to do and explore here, and I’m cautiously optimistic that you’ll be able to find plenty of cool things to do, interact with people through messing with their creations and afflicting everything with various malevolent biota, and that you won’t run out of ideas anytime soon.

A bestial sort of personality that cares for nothing besides the satiation of its own hunger and propagating its spawn is certainly thematic, though I do think it’d be more fun to interact with your character if there was more to it, maybe some odd quirks or more aesthetic goals that it has -- perhaps there could be some sympathy towards those thieves and other outcasts and ‘parasites’ that fall under the domain of its aspect? Since Yeseris is at least intelligent and calculating enough to make a temporary ally (I liked the analogy of the wild beast that you keep away from your throat with meat) there’s at least something here, so ultimately I’m satisfied and won’t demand any changes unless you want to make them; my musings about adding quirks or something was just a suggestion.

The true form of some sort of centipede-monster is alright. I do like the constant swarm of disease and pests all around though! That’s a fitting way to kill any mortal foolish enough to come too close.

Your sheet is accepted -- I think it’s workable as is and that it can help fill the obligatory (and as of yet, somewhat lonely) niche of ‘bad guys’.

Much of what I think has already been told to you in that informal review I gave on Discord the other day, but I’ll reiterate here what still bears relevance. Essentially it boils down to me thinking that there’s definitely potential in Luck as an Aspect because even if you’re basically just cursing or blessing mortals to the exclusion of all else, that can come in enough different forms that there’s still wiggle room and variety in what gets done. The manner in which you go about doing your things probably won’t feel too limited or repetitive, I just worry that the ‘spirit’ of your posts might so to speak. In other words that they could feel detached and episodic which might lead to you eventually getting tired of doing the same or similar sorts of things.

So the ideal remedy is that you build towards something over time, and that happens naturally and easily if you give your character certain ambitions to drive for or values that they seek to promote. I’ve already suggested you do something like that, maybe in the form of some quirky things under personality so that there’s more to her than just ‘impulsive, childish, trickster type’ but it doesn’t seem as though you’ve spelled out anything like that.

It’s fine to look like a child of whatever species is present, but just to clarify the true form shouldn’t vary based upon who is nearby. I think that the ‘true form’ is meant to be the orb of light that she manifests as towards other gods -- nothing particularly exciting there, but it’s fine.

So in case my meaning was unclear, the Aspect and the Persona section could work as is, I just wish that if you don’t change them in the manners suggested above to assuage my concerns, then you at least start talking among others and ironing out some plans for long term plotlines etc. The goal of these thorough reviews of mine is to try to help people polish what they’ve got and think of compelling or interesting ideas so that there’s as little burnout and abandoning of characters as possible; I just want you to understand that’s where i’m coming from and not a place of saying ‘you suck at sheets’, ‘I don’t like the character’, or anything like that, haha.

Your sheet is accepted but I once again make the case for my strong suggestion that you maybe try to give her more concrete and meaningful goals or values so that you have something driving your posts and making them feel less detached and episodic, or failing that, that you at least talk to others and work out some long-term plotlines and such with them to get started.

Because we’re cool (I think? Saucer, are we still cool? Haha!) I feel like I can be upfront and say I see some potentially big problems with your sheet here. Lauder and Frettzo both like what you have and didn’t have any real complaints, but let’s start with the issues I see with the Aspect.

Wine is quite specific as Aspects go and I’ll repeat the prattling that I give to almost anyone with a specific one, namely that it can get boring if all your posts are about the same thing. But you’re a skilled and pretty interactive writer so I’m confident you’ll be able to do varied and interesting things and make that work well for long enough to earn more Aspects. That said, Wine still does have some unique issues arising here that many other niche and highly specific Aspects wouldn't.

Of course we can look to real mythos and there’s very famous and important wine gods like Dionysus, but he was also the patron grape-growing, theater (that was another big role), and just general partying. Revelry you could say, and you’re going to have to share this space with both an actual Revelry god and maybe even with Kho’s Dance goddess. It’s a pretty small corner that’s looking to be quite cramped between the three of you, but perhaps this can be turned into a good thing if the two or three of you get to play off one another and work closely together and work out plots etc. rather than angrily shaking fists and cursing each other for any toe-stepping or thunder-stealing. As a side note, I generally like strange and interesting quirks, and it is quite the quirk that Jiugui’s power only works upon those that willingly imbibe upon his drinks. You’d think that a wine god could intoxicate people at will, maybe even have some wine-breath so strong that the vaporous alcohol gives nearby people a buzz, haha. But maybe he can do those things and just doesn’t because it wouldn’t be nice?

That’d be something perhaps more related to persona, though. On that note let’s segue into his personality: you have a charming and fun section for that which paints a good flavor. Very well done there, and I can already imagine the comedy and dialogue that could come from this. It bears mentioning that I think Lauder is trying to go for a pretty active primordial in the Monarch. That’s relevant because being a completely incompetent and irresponsible slacker would’ve been more or less just brushed off in past iterations, allowed to go on as purely comedic relief under more detached primordials, but I can see some tensions arising this time around that leads to the Monarch actually doing something because of it this time. Still, I imagine you might have considered that and done this intentionally -- pissing off the Monarch can’t be that bad, can it? We’ll all eagerly wait to see what (if anything) he does to Jiugui when the guy screws up!

The True Form is quite thematic, though remember that True Forms are meant to be quite deadly to mortals that stray too close. Rather than just making him a bit uglier and larger, perhaps you could go with what I said above about the idea of liquor-breath so potent that the vapors in the air become intoxicating -- maybe even to the point of deadliness.

Because you are Saucer and we already know you and trust in your ability to make more challenging things like this work, I’m confident enough to approve your sheet basically as-is even without you doing anything to address the concerns I laid out. Still, I’d be interested in hearing your response on the Discord.

The Aspect is described concisely and straightforwardly enough -- it’s plants after all, so nothing too crazy going on. You’ve mentioned ents in the Discord I think -- perhaps allude to the potential to give sapience and even the ability to move to plants if she wants? I don’t know if ents as you envision them are a species all their own designed specifically to do those things, or if they’re more like otherwise normal trees that were at some point ‘blessed’ or ‘empowered’ with those abilities.

The personality is the sheet’s strong part; I like what you aim for in that she is haughty yet not necessarily disdainful of others’ creations, that she wants to beautify the world, and that she takes serious qualms with civilization. All three point make for an interesting character and each one also enables different interactions and story arcs, so despite the straightforward and simple Aspect I’m not worried about you running out of things to do or having the character become isolated from the rest IC.

Her slithering around without legs in her true form and making plants simultaneously wither and die all around in her true form was quite a vivid and interesting picture in my mind; good job there! Since true forms are again meant to be too much for mortals to withstand, perhaps flesh too is made to grow (read: twist and mutate) and rot with frightening speed in her presence? Or maybe plants just grow on (or inside of) unfortunate mortals that come too close? Just some macabre food for thought.

Most of these reviews are quite verbose, but once again, my brevity can only be a compliment. Means I didn’t find much to nitpick or complain about :)

In the last iteration that I was a part of (Mk. III) I had a similar character to yours, so the others really wanted me to be the one to give feedback to you. The Aspect has potential and I’m glad this niche is being filled, however some elaboration is warranted and probably necessary so that the details are ironed out and everyone is on the same page about how something as important as souls, death, and ghosts etc. is supposed to work in the setting. It seems that you are establishing that reincarnation is not really a thing (or if it is; it’s an irregularity and would probably only happen with magic or some other god’s intervention), that souls exist inside even the basest form of life like plants and bacteria (and are souls found even in rocks and nature too, perhaps? Some real religions believed in that sort of animism; I think it’s found in Shinto for instance, and in Greek mythos the rivers had personified spirits in the form of nymphs, etc.), and that all souls go to some sort of afterlife after death with exceptions once again being an irregularity, and that news souls are constantly created as things are born and there’s an unlimited supply or source of ‘soul stuff’. All fine and good, but correct any misunderstanding here if it exists, so that we can firmly establish how the souls and death in this setting is supposed to work.

So then I have some further questions, specifically: what sorts of things can Voi do with your idea of a Soul Aspect, and what sorts of things do you plan to have him do? I take it his powers include claiming the souls of the dead and sending them to appropriate afterlives, maybe even constructing said afterlives and/or delivering judgement to punish or reward the dead for their deeds in life? With the Soul Aspect do you also intend to take jurisdiction over ghosts etc.? It can be quite limited and I’m just trying to make sure you have enough stuff to do, because it feels like you might spend a few posts creating an underworld and such as a one-and-done, and then wind up thinking, “Now what’s left to do?” In my case, my character was working under a quite different system of souls where they all had to be ‘recycled’ and destroyed so that new life could be made through reincarnation or sorts, which necessitated a pretty gruesome system that many other gods naturally opposed, and that obviously created conflict for my soul god to deal with. But you seem to have a much more benevolent and unintrusive god and a tamer system, so I don’t foresee that sort of conflict arising and you’ll have to look to something else for plotlines and posts.

I think the answer might be found in personality. I like that your god is somewhat interventionist and isn’t just going to be reclusive, because this means you’re a lot less likely to be trapped struggling to find things to post about after setting up the initial afterlife etc. as I imagine you’ll be wanting to do early. Specifically, you say, “Watching events from afar or in mortal form. Sometimes interfering in events if he deems it something important. As deep down, Voi is a kind and thoughtful god. One normally on the sidelines but, will jump into the frontline if he feels he needs to.” The bolded, emphasized parts are what intrigue me. You imply that he has some morals or values, but what exactly are they? Can you expand this with at least a few sentences to show what he cares about and when he would feel the need or desire to intervene with the living? Presumably he’s just a good guy and might do something if he notices a ton of souls coming in at once to imply some sort of massacre going on, but that’s just me guessing and projecting how I might write the character. I’d like to see you clarify with your own ideas.

Not much to say about the true form, it works fine though.

I know that I wrote a lot but I hope you don’t find that daunting, because it shouldn’t take too much more writing to answer my questions and address the points that I raised, maybe just a few sentences here and there. The sheet is quite overall good and is accepted; I just think these questions are quite important to get answered because you’ve chosen a very impactful Aspect that will necessitate establishing some universal ground rules for the setting. Ask on the Discord if you want any clarifications or help, and once you’ve expanded upon and clarified the points that I’ve raised, feel free to post this on the characters sheet.

So the Salt Aspect is of course very niche and narrow but it’s clear that you know that and have already thought it through and have ideas, so none of us were very concerned about that. You’ll be able to make it work and find things to do given what we see in your persona section -- a clingy, attention-seeking, and potentially violent goddess will leave you with plenty of things to do with just that Salt Aspect. And of course though you don’t touch upon it much, there’s the possibility of branching into the connotations of salt representing purity and the myths of it repelling demons or monsters, etc.

I like the quirks of her being susceptible to flattery and eventually caving in to granting some prayer if enough mortals ask, but it’s somewhat surprising that she’d then grant it even if it’s one to destroy some other group that presumably also worships her. How might she decide what to do when two opposing groups are both praying that she smite the other? I presume the answer is something along the lines of ‘arbitrarily, or maybe based upon which one she happens to like more.’

I will give particular praise to the true form, it’s very cool and thematic and my favorite one yet. I know it’s hard to come up with something original that’s still fitting and striking but you did a very good job there.

I spotted a typo or two but that’s easily overlooked, and you said you’d go back and give it a second pass anyways. Maybe I only spotted them because you said something and got me looking anyway, haha. Brevity in these sheets is a compliment of its own; I try to discuss things in depth where I think it’s warranted and ask any questions that I have, but when a sheet feels complete there’s often not too much for us to say. It’s well done. Sheet accepted!

You have a solid and straightforward Aspect with lots of potential, broad enough to do many things but not so broad that I feel the need to ask you to clarify limits or anything like that. It’s good to have the addition of a classic earth god!

The persona section is likewise straightforward but it works, and I especially like the quirks like his refusal (or maybe even inability?) to lie; things like that combined with his blunt nature will make for funny and interesting dialogue I’m sure. The True Form of a mountain-sized giant was obligatory and I expected nothing less.

Once again, there’s not much to say because your sheet conveys what it needs to and we have no real concerns; even if we did, you’re a good and flexible writer that we’ve known for a long time so we’d feel fine giving you a great deal of leeway.

Since you made a good sheet I’ll reciprocate the effort and try to give as good a review as I can and have some substance for you to mull over rather than just a few words of praise, even if that means nitpicking or hyperfocusing on a couple words. In particular I think we can talk about this part of persona, "...it his duty to shape the lands that the Monarch of All has created and prepare those that live on them for the challenges of life." That part that I emphasized in bold could be explained more -- it reminds me a lot of Ruina actually, and I already suggested 404 maybe talk to you about doing some things together. So how exactly does Voligan try to ‘prepare’ the mortals? We can infer that he might occasionally send a random earthquake or natural disaster to shake things up and keep them from getting too soft, but that isn’t ever stated. A few more lines exploring this desire of his and its thought process, as well as how he’ll actually go about ‘preparing’ mortals and creations, would be a nice addition to your sheet.

You have committed a great error by anachronistically making an allusion to Google! I started frothing at the mouth when I read, "the lady who can't stop thinking about the one song she heard twenty years ago but never can quite google the right words to find it." Frettzo and Lauder had to hold me back, and even the combined strength of a Florida man and a kung-fu master was barely enough to stop me.

As it stands right now, your Aspect section has some thematic musings on the broad ideas of what hunting can include. We'd still like to see some more meat in that section though. Is the main application of this Aspect going to be that she helps or hinders hunters to find their quarry, or is it more that she is the source of motivation or impetus for them to go out hunting on their own and she leaves the outcome to their skill and luck? I'm not forcing you to choose between one or those two; it could be that she does both, or neither and something else.

The purpose of those questions is just to help give you an idea of what we'd like to know more about when we ask you to give more concrete examples for the Aspect. It's a broad Aspect and I'm sure that you will be able to find many things to do however you work the Hunt, so it's overall a good and workable Aspect even though we want you to elaborate more upon it.
Nothing much to say about form, all that is fine. To segue into the personality section, Lauder pointed out that the personality is currently very simple; the generic rogue ranger sort that just pulls pranks and hoards stuff. Such a straightforward archetype is fine and definitely workable if that's what you want, but you could certainly add some nuance or do some other things to make it more interesting.

It's accepted, just nuke the allusion to Google and then add a few lines expanding upon your Aspect section before posting the final draft in the characters tab please.

A short and straight to the point sheet. Like we said to Capybara above, we'd like to see more substance in your section on Aspect -- water is a very broad category and you could do a lot of things and go in many directions with it, so it becomes especially important to spell out what sorts of things Ao-Yurin will do with it. You mention that without Ao-Yurin there would be no moisture, so are we to take it that he created all of the water? Does he also send and control the rain for most of the planet? It's obviously strongly implied that he does and that he can also create storms, but spelling these things out explicitly would be ideal. For instance, is poisoning water something that he would ever do? Does snow or hail fall under his purview?

The duality of water is always a cool archetype to explore, but likewise I'd like to see this expanded too -- is it just a different mood, or full blown multiple personality disorder? Does he have separate powers when he is in the saltwater form? Is that the one that would send hurricanes and such? Those were the things I was left still wondering.

For true form, is there any difference between the saltwater and freshwater versions? Is there any lower or upper bound on how big this watery form gets?

One of my main criteria for deciding whether a sheet is good or not is if I think you'll be able to do many interesting things with the character or if it'll be too hard to interact -- in this case I see potential. Early on you will naturally get the opportunity to have an important role in shaping the map by creating the oceans, lakes, rivers etc, and later on you can do things like send storms around and stuff. But sending rain and hurricanes would get boring after a while, so what other things do you think you might do or branch into? Sailing perhaps? You needn't spell out any of these plans in the sheet, I just would like you to think about them.
As a side note, I don't think I said anything to you about this on the Discord but I know others did: having a character that doesn't use pronouns at all will likely get very tiresome in the IC, especially if it means you're repetitively writing or reading a name like Ao-Yurin that is longer and a mouthful. I speak from experience because we've had precedent in the older iterations where certain gods were referred to as 'its' or were otherwise genderless, and you end up with pretty cumbersome sentences that don't flow well. When the writing doesn't flow as well or the posts aren't as readable, they naturally get less engagement from everyone else, so you're only hurting yourself if you do this. We accept the character sheet, but before putting it into the character section please expand the Aspect section (and perhaps personality too, to explain more about what the different forms mean) as requested.
