Vrexen returned Myra’s kind smile with narrowed eyes. He was used to such an expression being worn by creatures that were deeply sadistic, but Myra’s was a bit off. Soft and.. trusting? He decided to not dwell on it as nothing significant occurred after the gesture.

Per his request, Myra made herself unseen once more and ventured through the city in search of their map. That left him to search for a second guide for this strange new world. He could have asked the advisor to supply one, but he wished to have one with loyalties not so close to the two-headed dragon of the dark. Allies in conflict were good, but manipulation wasn't barred in this relationship.

As he walked through Malthemoor, almost back the same way he had traveled to the castle, Vrexen kept his head on a swivel, ruling out soldiers, guards, and children as well. As he entered what appeared to be Malthemoor’s busy market square filled with either dark or pale skinned elves, he noticed the many eyes staring back at him. Seven monstrous demons had traversed through the city just after Vrexen’s arrival, so many were wary of his presence. He stuck out amongst them and drew the attention of all who saw him. It had not been officially stated, but rumor was already beginning to spread within the city about a new alliance with the rare and mysterious demon race.

“Who to choose? I need a suitable guide.” He said aloud to himself as his eye focused on a male dark elf that appeared to be some sort of hunter or ranger. Fit, equipped, seemingly unaffiliated, and probably well traveled, but all Vrexen saw was an elf civilian that could take care of himself. Now, how to get him to be our guide? I could threaten to murder his family… Maybe after killing one first to prove I am serious… What would be the best method? Claws… Teeth… If I choose a child, a few bites would suffice… Or maybe…

“A suitable guide?” A dark elven woman spoke from beside Vrexen with a vampish grin on her face. She was successful in breaking Vrexen’s concentration on the other elf he had mentally chosen as he shifted his three-eyed gaze towards her. As intimidating as he thought he was, her demeanor didn’t shift. She actually rolled her eyes at him “Do you need a guide or not? Because that guy over there. She pointed at the elf Vrexen was studying. Yeah, him. He’s never even been outside the cave. He wears all that equipment to look… dangerous I assume. So. Do. You. Need. A. Guide?” Vrexen narrowed his eyes at the insulting nature of this woman.

“Yes… I need a guide. My subject and I. To leave this place.” He was tempted for only a brief moment to stab his claws deep into the side of her throat.

“Perfect! Now we’re making progress. By the way, my name’s Astra, and I am happy to be of service. All I require is a small fee of… protection.”

“Protection. Perfect. I, Vrexen will not tear off your limbs and feed them to the lowliest of bottomfeeders, if you choose to guide me. There. Protection from me.”

“For fucksake…” Astra turned her head away and scrunched up her face. What in the two moons did I get myself into. Gods fuck this situation is shit… At least his wanting me dead has some simple conditions. I’ll just guide him into a beast’s nest once I’m through with him. She turned back to face Vrexen with a warm smile. “I guess we have a deal. Guidance for protection… from you and anyone else!”

“I am acquiring a map from my subject and will meet her at the gates of this settlement. Make any preparations you need to and meet us there… and I do have your scent.”

“I’m sure it’s pleasant, Mister Vrexen. See you in a bit.” And with that, Vrexen made his way to Malthemoor’s gates to patiently await Myra.

"An hour?" Michael blurted out with raised eyebrows. He'd been wasting so much time testing out his boundless stamina at the bench press that he hadn't progressed to his other workouts. It wouldn't have been rude to keep Michele waiting, so he put the weight plates he was using back in their places and briskly exited the gym. Though he was glad he had a vehicle to get him from Point A to Point B, the current traffic in San Francisco was a commuter's nightmare.

As he approached his car, he felt numbing sensation across his skin.

"What the…" He stopped and looked at his exposed skin as that's where the numbness felt the strongest.

"Hey you good? That preworkout must be hella strong?" A man passing Michael in the parking lot commented.

"I'm good." He honestly had no clue what was happening, but he surmised the feeling was coming from the sunlight. He hurried to his car, getting inside. And just like that, he felt normal again. "Weird… Wait a second." He rolled down his tinted window and reached his hand out to the sunlight. The numb feeling returned. "Awesome…" Withdrawing his arm and rolling the window back up, he started up his vehicle to head home so he could shower and change.

40 minutes later…

Michael had arrived at the condo he called home, immediately jumping in the shower. It might have been easier to text Michele and have her push the time back some, but racing the clock had tempted him. Navigating through his messy home made things all the more challenging. And he had volunteered to clean it too. He shrugged at the broken furniture before putting on denim jeans, a short-sleeved baby blue graphic shirt with Los Angeles, and a picture of the city at the center. For his shoes, he slipped on a pair of clean white sneakers. He brushed his hair, applied deodorant, dabbed some cologne on, and then went for the door.

10 minutes later…

"Fuck this traffic, and I forgot to put on lotion!" Michael complained as he looked at the dry skin between his fingers and along his arms. He thought about going back or stopping somewhere to get some, but the clock. It wasn't a date, but he really liked Michele. In a way, she made him feel like things were perfectly fine. No drama, dangers, or worries… Well except for when they first met, but after that things had remained smooth. Smooth, unlike his skin right now.

13 minutes later...

It was a blessing Michele didn't live too far from where he and Floyd stayed, so traffic wasn't too unbearable on the way to her apartment. He was a few minutes late, but only a few. As he approached the door to her apartment, he couldn't help but smile. At least Michele could brighten up his day some.

“There will be much more violence on your path ahead, just avoid doing anything here.”

The crazed red-faced demon let a low growl emanate from his throat, Her felt himself beginning to calm, but best believe, fury still remained. His eyes had been focused on the door that had led the Seven Sins out and into a world that was ill prepared for them. It made the most sense for Lilith to push some of her most powerful children through the rifts of darkness. The dark elves had begun an inevitable war born from so much tension and conflict, and as mild as this world presents itself to be, it shall become harsh enough to rival a layer within the chaotic Abyss. So if the Seven Sins were the most suitable in extending the influence of demonkind to this new untapped world, and if this very world was most suitable to thrive given the current circumstances… Then where did he fit in? Despite his previous words of violence, he did not possess the great power the other sins held. They could bend wills and change the laws that kept a world together. What was his strength? What was his advantage?

Vrexen might have missed Myra exiting the room, but her camouflage failed her. He did not quite understand why this had happened, but he made a mental note to learn the reason.

“Myra! We will not be joining the likes of them.” His voice was sharp and demanding like a sergeant correcting a misguided soldier. Walking upright, he marched from the chamber with purpose despite not having any. With no care for Myra’s desire to remain unseen, Vrexen spoke to her as they made their way out of the castle and back towards the city.

“I know not what I must do, but I have you, a sister and native to this world. Mother may have intentionally placed you and I on the same path… To make me see… To make you see… Truth. Truth in what it means to be a true demon and truth in what it means to dwell in this world.” Vrexen spoke as he thought of the countless layers of the abyss he had thrived in. He had to learn how to live in these places before he could kill in these places. The same applied here. THIS IS HOW I WILL DEFEAT THOSE FOOLS! He briefly stopped mid step before continuing on. One problem plagued him however. Myra did not communicate through speech.

“Myra the unseen… the unheard… Hmm. Myra, I would like you to acquire something for us. We need a map of this world that I can use. I will go find us a second guide. One that can speak. I will meet you at the gate of this settlement when I have acquired someone suitable.” Vrexen was practically telling Myra to steal what they needed. Her abilities and physiology gave her a high affinity towards stealth. Why not use it for something other than hiding?

The view of the night sky helped Rain... No. It helped Viktor drown out some of the negative thoughts that tugged at him. Piloting the jet had been a decision made out of the need to distance himself, but he hadn't expected to feel so calm where he was. Maybe it was because he was in control, or perhaps it gave him a sense of solitude. The small exchanges that occurred behind him were mostly ignored. He heard them, but wasn't actually listening for substance.

"Mission Report."

Viktor couldn't help the sigh that escaped him. He was aware of the importance of an after-mission debriefing, but he was still bothered by the events that had transpired. Before he could address Talon, Zach handed him his bag he had requested. It came with a bit of snark and a compliment, but that was somewhat expected.

"Thanks." He simply said before setting the backpack down beside his seat. "Mission Report. Squad B was tasked with conducting surveillance support to Squad A. Members included myself as command and control, Nymph on comms, Brightheart and Coal as overhead surveillance, and finally Gold Rush and Hex simply had eyes on the target facility from different vantage points. Comms were established by placing Nymph on the same channel as Squad A and remaining in the same position as myself. I made the decision to keep the rest of Squad B and myself on channel 2 so Squad A would only receive pertinent intelligence from me through Nymph. The mission progressed and Metamorph was investigating the unmanned vehicle. Myself and Brightheart had eyes on Metamorph and his surroundings for some time before I tasked Brightheart to conduct a brief overhead scan of the perimeter. While watching Metamorph, I spotted someone approaching from his blindside. I reported what I saw to Nymph who was behind a large boulder at our position. My message was not transmitted due to Nymph being incapacitated by her transformed body's prolonged exposure to low temperature…" He clenched his jaw before continuing his even-toned report to Talon.

"Metamorph never received the report in time and was spotted by the enemy. I had taken over comms for both squads that were on separate channels while Nymph's attempted to use my body heat to raise her core temperature. The alarms sounded and I ordered my squad and Metamorph who met Nymph and I at our position, to begin extraction. I wanted him to take Nymph, but she was… stuck clinging to me. I made the decision to remain on channel 1 to maintain comms with Squad A. It was during this brief time that Brightheart was spotted by the enemy and engaged by small arms fire. She retaliated by throwing the vehicle previously reported at the group of attackers before engaging them in hand-to-hand combat. Once your squad escaped the facility I carried Nymph with me to the jet. Brightheart followed..." He seemed to contemplate his next words before speaking again. He could have ended the report there. He could have.

"Our two points of failure in this mission were caused by Nymph's lack of understanding of her own abilities and Brightheart's disregard of our objectives. Metamorph was spotted and likely the direct cause for the alarm, but that would have been prevented if Nymph reported her issues regarding the cold. Brightheart might need some education on the idea of a covert mission, but Nymph simply does not belong on this team and I'm sure even she would agree with that fact. Here is not the place to learn about what you're capable of. It's what you're capable of that puts you here. This isn't training anymore." He did not care how harsh he sounded or that the others could clearly hear him.

After informing Talon of Ja's status over the radio, Rain heard the sound of gunfire. Aleen'a being spotted in the air, caused him to scowl at her in the sky. How did she let herself get spotted? Rain trying to maintain comms with Squad A only allowed for Aleen'a to perform a counterattack. She retaliated by throwing a vehicle and engaging the Kobra agents. He didn't bother saying a word. It was too late. Rain simply made sure he had a better hold on Daphne before carrying her all the way back to the jet as quickly and safely as possible. Once inside the jet,
Rain removed his helmet, revealing his face expressing irritation from the furrowing of his eyebrows. Despite his feelings, he ensured Daphne was seated and covered with blankets, keeping what might be vicious words to himself.

As soon as he figured she was secured, he quickly moved to the pilot's seat and proceeded to start the jet for a quick extraction once everyone was aboard.

Moments later…

Rain had volunteered himself to fly back. He hadn't really said anything about it, he just never left the pilot's seat. He needed time to process what went on during the mission. What they did right, and what they did wrong. Failure was not new to him, but the personal negligence he witnessed was unacceptable. There was one person who he could blame for everything wrong that occurred, but the more he thought about them, the more his skin felt hot. Rain set the controls to auto-pilot. Being too hands-on might not be the best idea.

"Zatara. Can you hand me my backpack?" He needed to eat some of the peanut butter-covered pizza he had packed inside of it.

"That… that damn… that damn fuzz-tailed beast of a harlot… she's… whoa…" Slick had been cursing the mischievous bartender who slyly drugged him. He wanted to drown out the strange world around him, not distort it! His surroundings tilted, sharp corners smoothed out into round ones, and sounds came out muddied and garbled. His only sliver of fortune was his newfound fuzz-tailed lover of a woman offering a good time. At least that is what the outlaw perceived. The young beauty also scored some additional points for stealing him away from the dangerous poisons the vicious squirrel harlot concocted. He figured she might have fur in some odd places but what woman didn't? Besides, a little fuzz never hurt anyone.

Perhaps because he was eyeing his perceived potential bedmate, Slick took a little longer than normal to notice he and Mika were not a pair, but a party of four… no six! Four… four other suitors? A pointy-eared man, a dog man, two cat… wait what the hell?. A cat man and a tall cat woman, but they don't… they don't look right compared to other ones I saw. And then…

"Well lass, much aside LOVE, to wrap what I was using to own you, we've got some pretty impotent biscuits to take hair off so I'd say me and my friend’s hair might have to decline."

“What?” Slick commented with a twisted and confused look on his face. He looked to Mika inched closer to her.

"Oh though I do love these giddy-ups... Where did you get three charred mint litter mats from?"

“Hey darlin’, name’s Slick, how ‘bout you and I get goin’, y’know to the lovin’ you were proposing ‘bout a minute ago…” He winced and let out a low groan as he felt everything start to tilt again. Squaring his feet, he attempted to gain better balance. “Trust, I reckon it’ll be better than listening to these touched nonsense-talkers chipping their teeth. Can’t even understand a lick of what this pointy-eared fella is saying. Now trust me, a lady like you don’t need to be messin’ with a man that ain’t right in the head. Come on, you and… Whoooaaa!” He went to nod his head to the right to indicate the direction he wanted to go in, only to feel his whole world lean in that very direction. His eyes were wide with fear of falling over as he tried to regain his balance as he flailed his arms about, unintentionally creating a light breeze amongst the group.
@FunnyGuy

Are you still accepting? , I noticed you have 13 characters already.

We are still taking applications but it is not guaranteed that you will be approved. The better the app, the better chance you have. PM myself or @dreamingflowers if you have any questions. We have at most, 2 spots that will need to be filled.
Are you accepting people who are brand new and don't know the dc universe too well?

Yes we are. We have a mix of long time DC fans, people new to DC, and a few in btwn. Original characters are welcomed.

Hello, we're in need of a few players to join our team. Creativity is welcomed, but you may also play an existing DC Comics character.

We're just about to complete our first mission and are willing to give new members a rundown of what's gone on since we've started.

Check out our OOC and Character thread for additional information if you're interested.

Michael had just finished his third and what was meant to be his last set of bench press when he went to take a look at his phone.

"I can probably fit another set in… shit." It wasn't super strength, but more like a boost in stamina. He normally rested 2 minutes between sets, but he honestly felt like he could cut that time in half. Noticing Michele's reply, he smiled.

Just want to chill. Your place maybe? I got some shit to tell you. He sent out the text and moved back under the bar. Energy manipulation… I think that's what my power is, and if I'm right, there should be way more I can do. But maybe I'm just an emitter… Perhaps he'd delve into absorption. That's if he could even figure it out. These powers shouldn't be no different than his physical training. Pushing your limits and exceeding them over time. Chest day, Leg day, Back… it was not so different if he broke it up in a similar fashion.
