Personality: Viv is a loud mouth, it is as simple as that. She tells people exactly what she is thinking when she thinks it and could really care less about the consequences. Perhaps not the best trait for a doctor to have but it wasn't always like that. Times change people and they have certainly changed the Doc. What was once a compassionate person bent on trying to save everyone, she has turned into a survival of the fittest. She will save members of the group when needed but she can be rather vindictive; so hope you aren't on her bad side when you need her help. She'd rather save the supplies for someone worth her time.
On the upside, Vivian is very adaptable and thinks on her feet; she will improvise what is needed to survive and come up with off the wall ways to keep going. Never one to think inside the box this has proven to be an invaluable skill in this day and age. She watches people and her surroundings carefully, always on watch; she is usually the first person to notice when something is off and she'll let the right people know is anything sets off her

Your First Walker Encounter: Grady memorial became ground zero that day and Doc was on shift.. People were sick and there was no explanation to why. An epidemic of some sort but no information on what caused it. All the ER could do was treat the symptoms. People died, there was nothing to stop it. Then it happened, one body left behind as another patient was brought in. While many corpses where changed unknown in the morgue; this was the first in the ER.
Doc was intubating a patient when her nurse was grabbed from behind and eaten on. Panic ensued for everyone but Vivian; she was nearly mesmerized by what was happening. She didn't snap out of it until Dr. Fields drove a scalpel into the Walkers eye and it dropped. That was just the beginning of hell and Docs own personal change.
History Before Outbreak: Vivian was born the second generation of an immigrant family from Hong Kong in the small scrub desert town of Moses Lake Washington. She grew up one of the few non-Caucasian or Latino in the Potato Producing Capital of the U.S. Winters were cold, summers hot but it was dry, so it wasn't bad.
She excelled in school; spending her time either studying or interning at the MLC when she was in High School. Graduating a year early; got a full scholarship to Harvard Med and jetted out to the East Coast. (She refused to stay home and attend Big Bend Community College for two years)
Med school went fast and she graduated summa cum laude, did her residency at Massecheuttes General; specializing in Neuro Surgery. That was all fine and good but she wanted to get faster, better and more focused. She transferred to Grady Memorial in Atlanta at 33 to work in their Trauma 1 unit under a 3 year contract.
The heat and humidity made her regret the decision but a contract was a contract; she stuck it out. Over the next two years she thrived in the ER but was looking forward to the completion of her contract so she could take a job at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. That was until the break out; there goes snowy winters.
History Since Outbreak:The first fee weeks after the outbreak were horrid but all you could do was fight or run; and hope you didn't die. Evac was ordered and Vivian took to the roof with a critical patient. That was where she met Leann, the only pilot left at Dobbins willing to land in downtown Atlanta.
During the Evac, the patient went past the point of no return. Before he died Vivian put a scalpel into his brain and shoved the body out of the helicopter to crash into 75/85 below. She didn't even flinch, to her it was them or him. The once caring driven doctor had changed and it only got worse from there.
Over the next year's she and LeAnn, along with a group of others kept moving. Losing many, gaining more. This was life now and while she wasn't good in fighting the Walkers, she was invaluable with keeping the group going. Though her cruel survival of the fittest streak grew and a vindictive nature set in after she ended up saving a farmer in Tennessee, only to have him turn on the group. Now she takes no choices.
When the group settled in Newnan, Vivian was put in charge of medical; rightly so but she is watched closely. LeAnn worries she may pass a point of no return soon if something doesn't change but right now Vivian is the best medical personnel they have; so it is better the devil you know than none at all.
