King Ruffles Guide to:
Neutral Zones

Hello dear readers. If you have a copy of this book, then congratulations for joining the greatest of the factions and hope to see you on Taco Tuesday. For anyone who happened to get this book from anywhere besides a licensed Demonic recruiting office, then you will be hearing from our lawyers shortly.

And believe me, Hell has more then enough lawyers to deal with you all.

But moving on, the topic for this chapter of the Encyclopedia Nexica -that everyone has definitely read from front to back before committing their eternal souls to a ceaseless war without end- is covering the dangers that exist outside of our war. Dangers that were present before our war even began.

Someone, not going to point any fingers here, thought to label these dangers as 'Neutral Areas.' He was probably miffed that Savage Lands was trademarked by some Machina / Human hacks, but that's a story for another time.

Neutral Areas, or Hostile Zones, Untamed Land, and OH DEAR GOD IT'S EATING MY FACE! (as one fateful transmission from a MIA exploration party apparently named it with their final breaths) are areas of the Nexus that are controlled by beings who were present before the War of Triumvirate began. Now I can imagine all you lords, ladies, and fellow cosmic terrors must be thinking that these petty barbarians can't possibly oppose you, let alone the combined armies of Hell?

In a word, yes, yes they can. These places are so hostile to outside life that it would take most of the focus along with the vast resources of Hell and its armies to deal with even a moderately sized one, and the sentiment is bitterly shared among the Machina and Heaven. The inhabitants of these regions are variable in form and temperament, impossible by any sort of natural selection, leading to a prevailing theory that they were seeded there some time ago. What's more, the very environment will fight back against attempts at encroaching upon it.

Deforestation is rather hard when the forest wants to re-enact the climax of Two Towers, and try making a Dwarven forging facility when the sentient lava refuses to go down the pipes. Even the all consuming corruption of demon kind is rendered moot on this protected land.

Now there have been rumors of areas that are 'friendly' and 'inviting of outsiders.' Perhaps a few of the kitchen staff heard of a utopia for escaped sleeves and think they skip out on making me a bowl of Gazpacho. You really shouldn't believe everything you here, people. This is a universe of nothing but conflict, of course the invitations are lies! Especially that slave utopia. I don't need the railroad getting more traction...

Anyway, here's a summary of what you should have learned here:

1) There are parts of the Nexus that remain outside of any faction's control. No one can even consider clearing it without leaving their territory weak to the other factions. Thus, these spaces are Persona Non Grata and given a wide berth unless absolutely necessary.

2) Any invitation to enter one is just asking to spend eternity enslaved to various beasts / cosmic horrors / bodacious warrior woman. If that's your thing, then by all means, the gene pool doesn't need you contributing to the population any longer. This goes double for escaped slaves. Make it triple cause I don't want you shirking on my lunch.

3) If you do happen to find yourself in such a place by some stroke of misfortune or have been sent on a suicide mission, keep in mind that if the inhabitants aren't super powered, then something you have failed to see probably is. If you see no inhabitants, then you have probably failed to notice the mountain behind you has moved thirty feet closer in the past five seconds. And if you happen to find yourself in a field of sunflowers, then commence sticking your head between your legs and kissing your ass goodbye.

Hopeful you all have learned much from this chapter. Now stayed tuned for my riveting Girls Gone Wild story that gave me Deva's 3 sizes and showed me that even Eos has a soft side!

Jokes on you, it'll only make Bonesword have a wet shirt.

Edit: don't hurt me senpai

So you're saying he'll be....soaked to the bone~?
Unexpected, but not unwelcome. Care to poke your friend Rin? I'm all for a slow burn but once a month tends to kill interest.
27 days since I last got to post for Margarita, and not a peep of progress on the OOC.

i'd take a rushed paragraph eked out on the toilet with your mobile if it got things moving on that front, or at least some confirmation that those she was interacting with aren't here anymore :|
<Snipped quote by Lonewolf685>
I imagined it more like a western-frontier styled America, with outlaws and that sort, where I know there'd be like settlements with voodoo and whatchamacallits.

Sorry if I couldn't elaborate on it fully last night. I hadn't thought people were asking because you wanted to use in the interim, because I was planning to use one for the next actual Round. I'll write up something comprehensive today, but for now the skeleton should just continue enjoying his drink.
Okay, I'm going to need to clarify a few things on Neutral Zones, because I can already tell people think they are Venice when they are more like the Savagelands. I'll try and get the Primer up sooner rather then later.

Though KoL should have something in mind for Bonesword since he's already thrown himself to the wolves in sheep's clothing.
@Lonewolf685
Is there a neutral territory with power in liquor?

Most likely.
@Lonewolf685@TheWindel@KoL
Is there any neutral territory in the Nexus that isn't that meeting place in the ass-end of nowhere?

Why funny you should ask, Birb.

...No seriously, are you reading my notes or something? Cause I'll cut you if I catch you snooping -__-

Anyway, yes, there are Neutral Areas across the Nexus. While I'll prepare a more thorough primer on the subject at the start of the Round, I will say that these are areas dominated by those natives to the Nexus before any of the Three factions arrived. They were seeded there and have flourished, creating areas that are usually too troublesome for any faction to deal with without investing their full might on a relatively small area.

More often then not, if Three Factions don't encroach on Neutral Territory, then the Neutral territory doesn't capture and enslave whoever gets close, though exceptions can be made. Neutral Areas don't expand beyond their arbitrary borders, but some will have inhabitants who take an interest in the Three Factions conflict, and may partake in a mercenary capacity or other such roles.

And before everyone asks, no. You can not leave your faction to join a Neutral Zone unless your are writing off a character into a life of enslavement to violent Amazons or...others. We had a vary specific intent that people are a part of one of the 3 Factions, thus the title, so no matter how tempting it is to go all Princess Monanoke and defend a stretch of forest from the Angelic lumberjacks, it would be a detriment to the player balance we would rather avoid.

However, if you want to create a character that is from one of these territories, then we may consider that an easy origin to write, though will be under scrutiny. Much like Switzerland, they remain Neutral because they are powerful in their own ways :3

@Grombus

There's no posting order in intermission, so you can post whenever you are ready.
Aw man, all that work, and Miyu still doesn't make the Angels win. How come nuclear explosions aren't the solution to everything?

Cause nuclear explosions inside your own base are frowned upon in every establishment :3
