The Kingdom of Alma is the largest and most principal nation within the planet of Eferion.

It is the center of the strongest military and the most inventive minds the world has ever seen. Among its contemporaries in the nine kingdoms it is the one with the strongest leadership and wealthiest people. The Artificer’s Guild is centered in the capital city of Alessia and the second largest cathedral in the world is situated right across from the royal gardens. When a tenuous peace was signed between eight of the nine kingdoms it became clear that the King of Alma was behind the treaty and used his influence to direct the realm for the greater good.

This all changed a few months ago with the appearance of The Black King, a cruel malevolent warlord who used strange magic and an army of monsters at his back to shape the world as he saw fit. Kingdoms fell in what seemed like a few short nights. The King of Alma declared war on The Black King and for a time they pushed back the horde beyond the endless wilderness. Unfortunately this success did not last long when the king was stricken by a strange, incurable illness. The Princess of Alma, serving as the regent of her sickly father sought to save her father and the realm as the Black King returned using his weird magic to outmaneuver the royal retinues. The Court Wizard, Zalmis, suggested a plan. An appeal to the goddess.

“I will summon legendary heroes to save the world from darkness.” He promised.

However, for some reason… the celestial wish spell that they sought to use had been twisted somehow. Magic crackled the sky. The heroes did not appear, but they had been summoned. Little did the Princess know the heroes themselves were but morons and losers from another world; not the heroes she had wished for. But it would be the heroes she would be stuck with if she could find them before the Black King does…
Premise of the RP

Eɴᴛᴇʀ is a collaborative story inspired by finding myself wanting an adventure story that is in the vein of the several isekai stories I have been watching over the years. Shows like Re:Zero, Konosuba, and The Familiar of Zero are good reference points, but not completely. Also, unlike other RP projects I have done in the past, I’ll be looking for a few initial players while I take on the role of any additional NPCs and maintaining a more pure GM contribution instead of also guiding the story along with a protagonist.

To summarize, the premise is fairly simple – a group of hapless young adults are dragged into the world of Enter after a divine wish spell goes terribly wrong and summons people who have no potential in a world of monsters and magic.

These individuals are not special. They are not destined for greatness. They are not heroes from the pages of a fairy tale. These people are nobodies, faces in the crowd, losers, and people who barely get through the day in their own mundane lives. They could be a number of things but they are not people who have lived successful fulfilling lives. In the words of the spellcaster who corrupted the wish spell who brought them to the world of Enter: “they are incompetent idiots whom the dark lord will be happy to dispose of”. For these people it seemed like they were ripped from their lives in an instant with no explanation. They’re correct in that assessment. There is no goddess explaining they died and this is their second chance. There is no god apologizing for a divine mistake. The silver lining on this as they soon will realize is that divine wishes can only be corrupted so far. If the wish is to summon heroes to save the world, then well, they will save the world. Even if the heroes happen to be incomprehensible morons and losers.

And thus the journey begins.
The Heroes

The heroes are the avatars of the gods, given great powers to defeat the forces of darkness. Typically.

With the wish spell warped and corrupted the normal peculiarities of the spell have been changed. The heroes are not summoned at the summoning circle to which the wish spell was used and as such the kingdom finds themselves with a new peril. Avantasia Silvercrest hopes that these heroes, when they are found will be alive and well. But unlike the heroes of old, when the heroes find themselves summoned they do not have someone to guide them and explain their powers. But fortunately, the way the world works allows them to soon get acquainted with their powers.

There are several heroes, based upon their predecessors. The legendary heroes of old. What they will learn is each of their predecessors had certain affinities and skills that they have innately. The hero who is to take the place of the Hero of Magic will have their innate spellcasting prowess but none of their knowledge. Knowledge and learning is the crux of these heroes. While they seem to learn skills like a sponge, they are still human and can die from a sword to the stomach or an arrow to the lung. They are not immune to poison or pain. This is important to consider. Keeping that in mind, they are magically altered to be in peak physical condition with a perceptive ability to gather information relative to their class; this includes language and some other tertiary abilities as well.

The Heroic Affinities are as follows:

  • The Hero of Defense @Cu Chulainn
When summoned, the Hero of Defense is afforded the vitality and endurance of a powerful knight.

  • The Hero of Finesse @Polaris North
When summoned, the Hero of Finesse is afforded the reflexes and senses of a skilled duelist or ranger despite never holding a bow or sword in their life.

  • The Hero of Might @ERode
When summoned, the Hero of Might is afforded the strength and endurance of a storied barbarian even if their build is small and fragile.

  • The Hero of Sorcery @HokumPocus
When summoned, the Hero of Sorcery is afforded the magical affinities and memory of a talented wizard even without the immediate ability to comprehend magic.
Other Information

The characters are all selected, in true Light Novel fashion, to be young adults from Japan.

When they arrive in the world of Eferion they will be shocked, confused, and concerned. They might have a cellphone with them or nothing but the clothes on their back. I’ve done this RP two ways before—the first time with them sucked into the world and the second with them waking up in it. In this we will try to make the best narrative decision as we move forward.

As such the character sheet will be minimal, but I will be asking players to consistently keep track of the skills they learn.

What I’m mostly looking for at the beginning is what kind of personalities have been summoned, how much of their lives were not ideal in Japan, and a justification for why the magic sought them for what heroic role they are deemed relevant to. While characters are not ideal heroes they should have some conceptualized reason on why they are the hero of might or sorcery. It does not need to be ironic, though extra points for that.

TBD
@TGM It's more of a reboot of Stuff's original Changing of the Guard. Since Yam's RP was in the EW2 Era from the start.

I'm aware. That's the RP I was mentioning. I almost joined it before it imploded.

No this is a continuation of the original. Picking off a few months from where we left off, still in the EW1 section

Guess I got a RP to re-read.
wait is this not a reboot/remake but a sequel to the RP Yam self-destructed
What?

Skype is missing the easy tabs of discord as well as being more annoying to get people into a group chat to begin with. You need to go out of the way to exchange contact addresses and then add someone, while with Discord you can just toss out an invite link to anyone who's willing to spare the time to join it.

Chatzy is primarily a website, not an app, meaning you always have to have a tab open you need to check, as well as generally not having nearly the slick UI or QoL features Discord does.

Pads are even worse in that aspect. I literally never saw those used for OOC banter outside the context of the collab post that was trying to be created, so you have to question how OOC the banter truly is.

Discord has the perfect elements of a clean UI, easy to join, easy to moderate, easy to set-up and easy to separate program. While I'm sure a better chatroom app could be developed, Discord is currently the perfect storm to en-masse reroute discussion from OOCs into its own chat. It's almost an extension rather than a replacement; a "fourth tab" as you would. It has the benefit of being live, not based in a web browser and you can customize how many notifications you want to get from it.

The only downside to discord is that it is an app, and you do need an account, so some people are just not going to want to bother and that's fair. It's still a vastly superior experience to the mentioned three with features or elements to it they lacked and are crucial to the kind of shift we see now.

To clarify, my point is that we used all of these methods in some capacity similar to a discord and it did at times reduce OOC banter in threads though I won't deny Discord is more efficient due to how it has all capacities of a chatroom and instant messenger in one easy, accessible place. Back in 2013, before Guildfall, I was in a number of skype group chats for even insignificant RPs that went nowhere though sometimes people preferred Chatzy and were insistent on using it.

Wasn't saying they were mechanically or absolutely the same.
Honestly I'm in so many discord chats, I don't want another. It takes a lot for me to ever join an RP now that doesn't have an active forum OOC. I've been in dozens if not hundreds of roleplays that have collapsed and I got tired of joining and leaving discords.

I see your point but I wanna ask you this--how is it all too different from when we used mIRC or Skype or Chatzys or Titanpads/Etherpads/etc?
I guess as a codex/tertiary information and formal announcements.

ok dude
I don't know what any of that means, Yam.
I'll think about it.
