Renauld gave a slight chuckle at being called a butt eater. He supposed he really was a butt eater. The flavour of a good ham made the title worth it. When this mission was going to be over, the first thing he would do was enjoy a nice cup of smoked tea with ham. Such a luxury was unattainable for him before. His savings had since been stretched thin because of the howling winter. A few gold coins went a long way. The dour scene in front of him hushed what little laughter Katya gave him.

The equipment that the fallen group had on them was certainly good. Whatever caused the chaos was strong. The wagon was nearing its weight limit. Renauld didn't want to overload the cart. Still, leaving armaments out in the open was always a bad practice. Armour was a definite no. While the scrap may have earned some silver, the weight was too great. Almost eating shit from a wagon wheel, though, was a useful discovery. A spare wheel was always useful. The two staffs that the mages possessed were also useful. They were certainly better than his. A few of the weapons were also in good enough condition to keep. The swordbreaker was a perfect item to sell. The knicked longsword was also good. It didn't really matter, though. They took most of it. Save for the heaviest, most damaged pieces of scrap and useless armour, they took all. The weight of most weapons was light. A greatsword weighed less than 5 pounds. It was better to resell the fallen's equipment than let aboms and goblins get ahold of it all.

As bitter winds turned to a humid haze, Renauld was only more and more pained. Wool kept warm while wet, but being so moist felt miserable. Even if it had the smell of rotten eggs, the haze was an odd respite. Then, the hot spring appeared.

Siwon worriedly panicked about something. He was right. The faster they made it to safety, the better. But something stuck out about what Siwon said. Something tells me we'll end up like that wreck we ran into if we stay.

Fire. The backline quickly slain by blades. The frontline brutally crushed. Choice cuts of horse meat.

The lone man, audacious enough to take a bath in a hot spring, was the only person nearby. It made sense. His words and inflections were rough.

Quickly, Renauld ran up to the approaching Ettamri. He quickly gave her back a light rap with his knuckles. A quick whisper escaped from his mouth.

"That's the orc champion," he whispered to her. His voice got even quieter. "The one that's slain over 70."

hey y'all, this is just a reminder post that the deadline is in less than 3 days, so if you want to get a character in, do it soon-ish
I'm going to set up a deadline for characters at some point during wednesday evening, where I'll choose the party and finalize everything

"Butt's pretty edible," Renauld told Katya, "you can get ham and beef round from animal butts. The poo goes down a tube that's completely separate from all of the meat." His tone was that of a teacher trying to explain a concept as nicely as they could. A mild smile on his face accented his words to the young priest. "It's good of you to worry about those types of things." He realized during his explanation that, above all else, Katya was a child. She was more steeled than the average kid at her age, but a child was a child. It was better to praise than simply correct and forget.

After assisting with packing on the meat, he walked with walked with the others who stayed behind forwards. The scene unfurled ahead was brutal and bizarre. Fire and death. A pity, really. Death was a cold reality for those who joined the Silver Moon. It was something everyone had to accept. Still, it even though it felt wrong, the dead had no need for earthly possessions. It was better to pluck what was useful like a carrion and live instead of dying a moral man.

After he took a deep breath, Renauld pushed on. Cautiously, he moved around the smoldering cart, trying to find anything either useful or hidden by snowfall.
@OwO can I make a halfling character?

yes
I do have a concept in mind, but I wanna check if you're cool with me playing a character with the opposite gender to what they were pre-Isakei. Knowing my case, it'll probably be girl that was originally guy :/

yea that's fine
But uh can I start a cleric or does I gotta find a god first?

You can start a cleric. I'll fill you in on your god once the roster is finalized.

and pings for the above post because i forgot

please note that since there's so much interest, I won't be able to accept everyone

it's not first come first serve, though

Just a bit of info organized, not much has changed.

You have died.

Unfortunate as your passing may have been, it was not the end of your tale. No, your soul had been taken from its natural cycle. Rather than expire, reincarnate, or find peace in the afterlife, your consciousness returned in that abyss. Nothingness. At first, it was frightening. You were unable to find footing within that darkness. Not that you had feet, anyways. You could at least understand that you no longer had a body. Panic turned to contemplation as you slowly accepted your current state. Soon, the deprivation of everything but your thoughts left you numb, unable to think.

Just as slowly as you accepted your new fate, it appeared. Even though you could see it, it took a considerable amount of time to even perceive what it was. Atop its indiscernible head was the skull of a deer. Its form was neither fully male nor female. Split down the middle, it remained betwixt. Numerous arms extended from its shoulders, each appearing and vanishing as needed. One arm reached across its torso, covering its sole breast. Another held the shaft of a spear against its neck, the tip already pierced through. Another held a stone lantern, illuminating it in a bath of crimson light. Another set of arms held the skull atop its head still. It sat across from you, still in the abyss.

Then it spoke to you in tongues. This was not a language you had ever heard, yet you could still understand it.

"The fracturing has begun," it stated, "become reborn and fix this cycle." Abruptly, it reached forwards and enveloped you inside a hand. Just as quickly as you were crushed, the hand opened. Bright blues and white hues had appeared. A sky?

Your new body began to plummet towards a blooming meadow.
