@FunnyGuy Duke Lorenzo Vikena
Location: The Park at Sorian

As the crowd becomes an uproar and the waffle table falls, there is one man who stands before them all with his gaze lowered, expression unreadable. People dart forward through the grass, brushing past anyone in their way. They shove at each other and yell. Those on the line for pancakes were immensely intimidated and did not hesitate to hurry away with their plates close to their chest. Back by the fallen waffle table, the patrons were bending down and grabbing at the waffles that were still salvageable like starved madmen.

But the red-haired man did not falter from his spot. Instead, he stepped on the head of the blonde patron who was still down below and then adjusted the grip of his gloved hand on his cane. The gold of the skull cane sparkled in the sunlight until the hand covered it from view. He raised the cane up to point at Duke Lorenzo.

"Duke.. Lorenzo...Vikena." He started off, slowly raising his gaze. The man took his time saying his name as if tasting each letter. His brows were furrowed, and a malevolent smirk tugged at his lips, "I'm here to play..." There's a glint in his eye as he finishes the sentence, "...and win."

SCREAM!

Champion was awfully frightened by the sudden scream that rang through the park. The fur stood on the kitten's back as he scrambled into Charlotte's lap. He buried his fluffy black head into the fabric of her dress. With a frown, she comforted him with a head rub. Perhaps an excited child. She thought to herself, glancing around the park. Her gaze locked on the sight of Crystal crossing the grass. The faces of her red-headed companions came into view as well. Aw. Look at how cute Crystal looks today, oh and she's with the Edwards... I haven't seen them in a very long time. She had been closer to the Edwards' children when she had been younger, but then Lorenzo had come into the picture. Duchess Victoria could not stand Lorenzo, even if her husband played nice with him. The Edwards had kept their distance for years now. She had never been sure if Priscilla and Kieran's view of her had also changed, but it mattered not. Though, due to that fact, she was uncertain if she should join them.

Even though she had decided not to greet them, she figured a little innocent glance wouldn't hurt. Besides, sitting over here where she had been previously threatened was suddenly not so enchanting. She gathered Champion and stood up. After putting her blanket and whatnot back in the basket, Charlotte also picked up her plate. Then she slowly walked over to the garbage can. She craned her neck as her gaze followed the group of nobles as they made a trek over to a... Tiger! Oh, I remember her! The adorable Alidasht royal and her beautiful tiger. I really wanna go over there now... I wonder if she'd let me pet that big kitty. It was such a gorgeous animal. Charlotte couldn't believe what a treat it was to see one outside in the sunlight.

Charlotte had been so distracted by the tiger she had barely noticed herself walk clumsily into the waste basket. She inhaled and quickly caught it before it fell over. "Sorry, sorry!" She apologized hastily to a couple nearby her who had flinched. After disposing of her waste, she realized she no longer had an excuse to be nosy. She prayed that she would not regret her choice as she began to cross over to the group, only to be halted by the sound of someone yelling. Charlotte glanced over toward the ruckus.

“Do you have any idea who you speak to?! And you call me the fool?! I am the venerable Duke of Veirmont!”

Uh oh.

...It was Lorenzo and he looked furious. She barely noticed her mouth was agape as she stared on, stunned. He was completely losing it on somebody on the waffle line. Charlotte could barely recall seeing him that way, even during his quarrels with her mother. She sucked in her lips and began hurrying over. What on Eromora could be going on? ...It's a line for waffles...

"Um, is everything okay?" Charlotte's voice was soft and concerned as she moved to her father's side. It was not hard to pick out the person who provoked Lorenzo as he looked to be fuming, perhaps even preparing a rebuttal. She gave him a dirty look, ready to loyally stand by her father regardless of the situation.

Her attention was briefly stolen by the sight of the girl in her nightgown nearby them. With some closer inspection, she recognized the girl. Her brow slightly raised as she wondered why she was not properly dressed. However, she could not thank her enough for accompanying her last night. She knew she had to at least say hello. "Hello again, Ruby. It's nice to see you... " Charlotte knew she could have quite an appetite, but this woman had perhaps the largest stack of waffles she had seen in her life. "You have picked out an impressive selection of waffles for yourself there, I see."

Maeryn was not surprised by Vrexen’s response. Even though they were powerful demons, they most likely knew little of their world and the sheer threat a number of orcs could hold. “If they’re there, I am certain they’re well guarded. Dugmaghord has allied with the light elves. Going inside the settlement is out of the question, no amount of desire for violence will protect you from losing your lives. They outnumber us. ” He explained. His gaze set upon Vrexen as he sat upon his flightless bird, whom he had not cared to name. He had been referring for it to as “the big bird” ever since he had purchased it from the Sturdy Stables. “This means running head-first into an aggressive orc settlement to test them is an unintelligent move, but do as you will.”

He felt that had summed everything up well enough. “We should wait from a distance until they come out of the settlement where the orcs will not be in the way. I understand it’s hot but we need to move quickly as we do not know how long they will remain there or even if this information is already outdated.”

Helio groaned from his spot on the floor. His blurry vision soon centered on the face of Barboda above him, laughing. "Ah. You think you're so cool without your helmet, Helmet-Head, don't you...?" He climbed up to his feet, taking up more floor space than necessary to do so. The crowd moved back, interested in how this fiasco would develop. Helio felt angrier than he usually would have. Why the hell had Barboda tripped him? And in front of the crocodile demihuman? "It's like Nym said. ...My reputation precedes me.." He stood up and glared at Barboda.

"Fight, fight, fight..."

The crocodile demihuman was now starting a slow chant. Gradually, others started to join in trying to get Barboda and Helio to fight.

The idea of fighting Barboda was oddly invigorating. He was ever the talented opponent, but it had been a while since Helio had been able to strut his stuff. After all that happened, he avoided combat as much as he could. Though, Helio had spent the last few months getting drunk with pirates who had questionable morals. Who was he to act above it all? Maybe it was because the drug heightened his emotions, but Helio craved the rush. With a gleam in his eye, he grinned at Barboda. "I bet I could win a fight against you... Right here... and right now."

Yuka gasped at Orias’s fine suggestion. “A bell!” She repeated. There was a pause. ”YES! I want a bell! Buy me a bell, Orias!” She could not help but imagine herself laying seductively with a collar around her neck. The little bell would jingle wherever she went, alerting everyone that there was someone cute nearby! The boys would go wild!

She was brought out of her daydream by the sudden pleasure of a nice head scratch. Her lips curled up and she leaned her head into the scratching, her eyes shutting as the delicious scratches moved behind her ear. “Oooo that’s the spot… How could I not get excited? I smelled an Aiko!”

At the question of Xavier’s location, Yuka stood up straight and began looking around as her tail flicked behind her. She took a long sniff, then suddenly twirled around and pointed in the direction of Xavier as he walked toward them in the distance. “Hello there Xavvypoo!” She called with a smile. He complimented her, as he should as “Boyfriend Number 1” of her harem. Yuka responded with a tackle-hug. She giggled and let go. “Wow! I’m so ready! All my lovers are here. Is this our first date together? I’ll make sure to bring back chunks of meat for each of you..." She paused to tilted her head at Orias, " Did you have somewhere in mind to go, Orias?“

"Sir, he only said to tell you that your bastard has arrived."

"What... in the living fuck is that supposed to mean?"

"Count Damien, I think he means that he is your son from another woman... and now he's here."

Meredith

Calbert ran a hand through his hair. There was a pause and a sound of indignation that followed. "I know what a bastard is!" The count paced about his foyer. Was his son truly just standing outside his home? Conveniently the day after his precious Violet had passed? He clenched his jaw with uncertainty. This was all too much. He had to wonder if his new enemies were creating some kind of rouse with some information they scrounged up.

It was indeed true that he had a son.

But it had been twenty-seven years since he had last seen his mother. The memory of it all, however, was still clear as if it had happened yesterday.

He had been engaged to a beautiful dark-haired woman named Meredith. With streaks of silver in her hair and the loveliest of eyes, she had always stood out in a crowd. However, before the two of them could even wed, the problems had begun. As a nobleman, he had strategically selected an attractive and seemingly suitable woman to be his wife. In his own attempt to keep her satisfied, he had showered her with compliments and gifts. Calbert assumed a woman looking to marry a higher-status man was searching for such luxuries, and they could both benefit from the relationship. Although he did grow fond of her over time, Meredith knew it had never been love. In the most ironic way possible, she had been Calbert's match as she had seen through his act. Not only that, she had watched the way he'd play with people's heads. And she hated it.

Then came the day when the straw broke the camel's back. Meredith had left and never came back after that day. She had simply left a letter. In that letter, she had told him simply that she was pregnant and refused to have a man like him as a father to her child. He had never quite learned where she had gone, but she had the decency to send him a few letters. Unfortunately, she had stopped a few years in and cut contact completely off.

Calbert clenched his fists and moved into his bedroom. He opened up a small, decorative box with a key and took out a few old pieces of paper. He flipped through them.

I named him Cassius...
...He has your eyes...

He reminds me of you... But I hope he will be nothing like you.
...You'll never meet him so don't bother...

His eyes darted across the pages, picking out sentences here and there. He finally set them down on his dresser and departed his bedroom.

Calbert marched out of his house and down toward the gate. His heart was racing along with his pace as a figure behind the gate began to come into view. The streaks in his hair verified everything before he could even stand across from the man, who was clearly grown. For a moment, he felt a wave of anger that had been long buried in him rise again. His mind was rampant with thoughts but none had escaped his lips. Instead, he met his gaze with a look of nonchalance, just as he did everyone.

"Tell me your name."

War Information

After a few attempts by Malthemoor to attack the Sun Elf Kingdom and hit their supplies, the Sun Elf Kingdom decided to make a move of their own. At some point, they were able to receive intel from the spies that Malthemoor would attempt to capture Riverport. Thus the Sun Elf Kingdom prepared and stationed their navy fleets there before Malthemoor’s navy arrived. This initiated the second major battle of the war. The Sun Elf Kingdom ended up victorious and were able to secure this area from any future attempts of attack.

Though battling has been consistent over the last four months, some are more notable than others. For example, the Battle for Roshmi happened two months into the war. The Sun Elf Kingdom attempted to siege Roshmi and help the residents take it back from Malthemoor control. This was unsuccessful, as it had been already anticipated. The Malthemoor aligned Roshmi was ready for the incoming attack, easily winning with the strength of the numbers they gained from the combined might of dark elves and demihumans.

Roshmi City is politically and militarily allied with Malthemoor. Roshmi soldiers are now deployed to fight alongside Malthemoor and Aldrakh troops. However, sparks of rebellion have ignited, causing a small group of rebels to fight back, conducting disruption operations. They are secretly supported by an unseen benefactor only known as the Guardian Angels to the rebels. Rebels that are caught are put to public punishments that range from flogging to execution. There is a very strictly enforced curfew with Roshmi being under martial law.

Roshmi and Aldrakh were not the only Malthemoor occupied areas; Malthemoor had also secured Port Vanarosa, and Yenworth. Due to the harder lines being drawn on both sides, amora travel has been limited with helius travel being halted. Neutral territories were not (and still not) completely safe from Malthemoor and their allies. They continue to send spies to this day to gather intelligence on the location of humans and the intentions of their enemies.

Though neither side has the upper hand yet, Malthemoor is currently on the offensive with the Sun Elf Kingdom and their allies primarily on the defensive due to the slow commitment from their allies. The Sun Elf Kingdom and their allies have been able to fend off major attacks and disruption operations from Malthemoor.

Rumors of intentional crop burning and desecration of historical fairy sites have occurred east of River Kingdom. Propaganda is often aired by both sides, highlighting the worst of both species of elves. Security checkpoints have also been placed by both factions located on all well-traveled roads.

Very important to also note that official alliances have been formed. Those aligned with Malthemoor were part of The Shadow Coalition, and those aligned with the Sun Elf Kingdom went by The Union of Prosperity. All major areas involved in the war have a curfew and stricter laws, but Shadow Coalition-controlled territories have the most intense punishments. Meanwhile, only dark elves are subjected to harsh treatment and accusations under areas of The Union of Prosperity.

Ironhold is a significant ally in the The Union of Prosperity. They’ve held strong due to their advanced technology. With constant conflict happening with Aldrakh, they’ve delegated multiple research teams to even further their advancements.

The River Fairy Kingdom is also an ally. After a small period of hesitation, they joined the war and provided more force than others had expected. Fairies have always trained hard in the art of offensive chlorokinesis. Dark elves that come into wooden territory often find themselves at a disadvantage.

Dugmaghord is the third ally, but they have yet to be attacked due to being the furthest south. However, they have sent some orcs north to aid in the ongoing battle between Roshmi and Sun Elf Kingdom.

Though smaller territories, the winter fairies, and the Avian City have taken a strong stance and joined The Union of Prosperity.

As for the Seven Sins, they have been tracking humans for the past few months, sharing intel with the Demon Queen and The Twins. The Sins have recently located a few human groups and are preparing for the opportune time to strike.

Anastasia couldn’t help but smile as Auguste joined, even if his expression had been grim initially. It was no surprise that he ended up pulling her and Callum into a hug. Hearing his voice choke up, she had given the both of them a tight squeeze. “I love you two.” She told them softly. It was a brief comfort to know that Auguste cared for their lives, yet as quickly as they had come, they had gone. She had lingered a moment to stare after them.

She had longed to spend more time with them. Maybe she could have asked Callum to play cards with her or asked Auguste if she could vent her feelings to him. But that would have been selfish. They weren’t her parents after all. They had their own demons, and she understood. It wasn’t like she could do anything for them either right now.

When the bedroom door had closed, she found herself alone. Then that feeling of impending doom set in as it always did. Without Darryn to worry about, other thoughts could infiltrate her brain.

She hated being alone. It was painful. The silence of an empty room could be deafening.

Anastasia usually would seek out someone to talk to, even if they were a stranger.

Sometimes it was easier to do anything she wanted in a fleeting moment, even if it was dangerous. A rush of adrenaline could feel more intoxicating than any alcohol. But decisions like that were always costly. They were often at the expense of others or even herself. Anastasia knew living in such extremes wasn’t healthy; it only led to a cycle of guilt. But what alternative was there?

She tried to force herself to be happy and she was often successful in deluding herself and others around her for short periods of time.

As long as she acted happy, maybe she'd feel happy, and maybe everyone else would feel happy too.

There was no point in living life miserable, right?

So why did she?

As Anastasia had been sitting in contemplation, there was a knock on the door.

“You’re in over your head, Charlotte.”

Huh?

The young woman had been chewing a significant-sized bite of pancake when she first heard the voice. Charlotte had absolutely no idea what was happening. She took another forkful and brought it into her mouth with greater haste. There was a hopeless wish that she had been imagining that as she chewed with nervous vigor. A rush of dread filled her as her mind registered just how close this person was. Charlotte scoped the area rapidly, checking that she was still in the public eye. As the man spoke, she could discern that it was certainly a male, perhaps an older one. Though that did not help at all, as she had encountered many older gentlemen over the years. She adjusted her position to move her knees more inward as the voice continued on. He's right behind this tree, and he knows I was walking around last night...A stalker!?

Charlotte shuddered. That was just the last thing she needed right now!

There was an urge present to run around the tree and look at who it was, but she felt rooted to her spot in fear. One hundred percent a stalker. He saw me with Count Fritz last night. She took another bite but went for some whipcream this time. Though most of the reason for her not moving was because she was afraid, there was a small part of her that was just enjoying her pancakes too much to get up. However, after that little bit, the man stopped talking. A perplexed look overtook her expression, and she met the eyes of Champion. The kitten stared at her blankly.

Slowly, she rose up and picked up the picnic basket. She raised it over her shoulder, garnering a few stares as she began to tiptoe around the tree. A reflex moved through her muscle, and she almost slammed it down to smack whoever it was...but of course, no one was there now.

Charlotte relaxed her shoulders, giving the surroundings another glance before moving back to her blanket. She plopped down with a sigh and rubbed her temples.

I'm sick of being threatened by cowardly men.

"...You know what." Charlotte grabbed her notebook from the picnic basket with a bit of passion and flipped it open to a blank page. She started to write down as much as she could remember. "I should not waste time being upset." She whispered softly to Champion. "He was a stupid stalker. He gave me free hints. I would bet good money that man has something to do with Calbert." Charlotte bit her lip with focus as she narrowed her eyes on the page before her. After a thoughtful pause, she continued writing.

After staring at the page for a moment, Charlotte groaned. She closed the book then let her body fall to the blanket. She laid down on her stomach and leaned her palms in her hands. With a distressed sigh, she then pouted.

Her vision adjusted to the sight of the kitten kneading the blanket before her eyes. The sound of his sudden purring did enable a smile to pull at the ends of her lips, yet her mood remained rather ruined for the moment.

Why had that happened? The timing was incredibly strange. For one, she had not uncovered anything yet. Even then, the odds were incredibly stacked against her.

Charlotte did not pose a threat at all.

I have known there is corruption in Caesonia, but I fear it may be more dreadful than I could have imagined.

Sophie picked up her head fast at the sound of Caelan's voice. A smile stretched across her face, and she paused her drawing. A rush of excitement filled her. Dropping the colored pencil, she whirled around and threw her arms around him as he hugged her. She looked up at him as he spoke, still hugging his waist and leaning her chin on his chest. "I'm good! ...And I'm not alone. I'm with Alette." She was kidding with her words as she let go of him with one arm to gesture to the pixie that was fluttering over. At the sound of Sophie's words, she flexed her nonexistent muscles.

"I'll beat a bitch up!" The small voice came from the tiny redhead and made Sophie giggle. "I'll kill anybody that is mean to Sophie! I'm-"

Alette's attention was pulled to the growing crowd of orcs as Three Day's Grace "Let's start a riot!" started to blast from Sophie's phone. It was not only the two orc children now but a crowd of ten as they all head-banged and jumped about in the sand. It almost looked like a mosh pit.

"Oh my God." Sophie dropped her arms from Caelan's body. At least I finished my drawing.

"This was a mistake." Alette sat herself down on Caelan's shoulder.

Sophie tilted her head as if to get a new angle of the scene. She wasn't sure if it was terrifying or hilarious. "I... I don't know... I think this is kind of awesome."
