@ZAVAZggg I'm interested, might start putting together a sheet
This looks interesting, I'm curious.
Melinae Vandris

The Kanarusians... Her short time among them on this leg of her journey had taught her more about them than the, admittedly rather bare, dossier on them present in the Ascendancy of Mans files. After the journey she'd had over the past year, having disappeared once the Treaty was signed and certified, this was only a small blip on her radar. She'd spent the lions share of the favors and debts she'd garnered in her yeas of work just to get her there safely, and she'd had the unfortunate necessity of leaving a trail of bodies to get to this point as well, what with the Ascendancies love of assassination as a solution, and her guards, admittedly well-paid, loyalty to her. Eventually, though, she split ways with the last of her people and joined the kanarusian liaison on his ship for the last leg of her journey.

As her host for the most recent leg of her journey made his entrance and introduction, along with his bodyguard, Melinae went over her plan in her head. It was far too late to get cold feet, but she was also sick with nerves about meeting honest-to-god revolutionaries. She'd gotten into contact with Moonstrike One, and she knew she was officially allowed to be here, but... what if the crew didn't accept her presence? The Diplomatic Corps was, after all, the soft hand of the Ascendancy of Mans power, resting opposite the hardened fist that was the military, and could oppress just as, well, handily. Shaking off the nervous energy she was surrounding herself with, Melinae stood up, adjusted her jacket, and picked up her luggage before walking into the light of the ships hangar bay.

Keeping her gait confident and controlled, Melinae strode forwards, halting once she was standing abreast to the Federation Liaison. Adopting a respectful stance towards whoever had been sent as the greeting party, and waiting a moment to ensure Doruva and his guardian had finished their own, Melinae made her own introduction. "I am Melinae Vandris, formerly Diplomatic Envoy of the Ascendancy of Man to the Rau've Empire and author of the peace treaty. I hope to be of assistance to this crew and its mission, both with my skills and my knowledge."

Her statement made, Melinae stood, projecting an air of confidence and trustworthiness, awaiting the greeters response.

Name: Melinae Vandris

Age: 36

Important items:
  • Group Photo - A photo of a group of young children, between 8 and 14. The back has the names of the children written on it, including Melinae and Alexander.
  • Diplomatic Bioware Suite - This Biotechnic suite is actually a number of different implants meant to enhance the diplomats abilities beyond that of an unaugmented human, primarily the Mental Reactive Shield and Silver Tongue implants.
  • Omni-Tool - Her omni-tool is a diplomatic model, which primarily boils down to a few extra switches and ports, and strong encryption and security software. It otherwise functions as a normal omni-tool.
  • $$$ - 120,000 Credits that she appropriated from the discretionary fund when she went rogue.

Weapons:
  • Holdout Pistol w/ Concealed Holster - A small laser pistol meant to give diplomats and other dignitaries a measure of protection and peace of mind when going into dangerous areas. More than once, these pistols have given would-be assassins and kidnappers a nasty surprise.
  • Diplomatic Corps Protective Uniform - This fancy, protective formalwear is provided to all Ascendancy diplomats to help protect them from surprise attacks, and to keep them alive long enough to reach safety in the event of a firefight or similar event. The control circuitry is mounted within the outfit, at the small of the back.

Character Traits:
  • Mental Reactive Shield - A small biotech implantable device that attaches at the base of the brainstem and connects to a series of emitters implanted along the skull, the MRS deploys a magic-interrupting shield that counteracts any mental magic affecting the users brain on an automatic trigger. When triggered by any magic affecting the owners brain, the device activates the emitters, interrupting the magical effects but also disabling any other biotech enhancements the user has unless they are properly shielded, although due expense only biotech that is essential to life is ever shielded. This implant has a code switch that the user can use to deactivate the device, involving an 8-digit randomized alphanumeric code that they must mentally repeat 3 times. This is not common knowledge outside of the Diplomatic Corps and their superiors.
  • Silver Tongue - This implant is actually a set of small implants throughout the body that works as one concerted whole. It includes a language library carrying the most common languages she might encounter, alongside a pheromone generator designed to enhance trust in the user and a modification to her vocal cords that cause her voice to have subsonic elements that can be used to invoke a variety of emotions or feelings. The pheromones are light but passive, and the subsonic elements are only active when she can focus on them, and they can falter discordantly if concentration is broken.
  • Socialite - Melinae grew up among the upper crust of the Ascendancy, and spent her entire life navigating its social circles. This has lead her to be very skilled in social situations, and at reading the subtleties of a persons tone, inflection, facial expressions and body language.
  • Diplomat - Through her training, and her experience working on the Treaty that ended the war, Melinae is skilled at negotiations and contracts, and at convincing people to think like her or do what she wants them too.

Short Bio: Melinae was born into an upper-class family on Earth in the year 2440, and grew up learning the ins and outs of the political and social battlefield. Especially, though, she grew up empathetic. This showed itself throughout her life, helping her make more friends than enemies, and helping her to befriend those who were difficult to reach. This, in fact, led to her being close to a young child by the name of Alexander, a rare genius who was two years younger than her, but 20 years smarter. She was 8 at the time, and on the older side of their small group of friends, but they bonded quick and hard, and when her parents sent Melinae to a boarding school at the age of 12, they stayed in touch, and kept their friendship going even after he joined the Grand Military Academy. At the boarding school, she improved and refined her social and political prowess, and as she neared graduation she decided to pursue her degree and enter the diplomatic corps of the Ascendancy of Man.

After working her way to being a full Diplomat, she was sent as one of the Ascendancys representatives to the Rau've Empire at the age of 25. However, unbeknownst to her, her time spent there spelled the beginning of the end of her loyalty to the Ascendancy. In this time, she earned the trust and respect of both her superiors, and the Rau've she and the rest of the team interacted with. Almost 5 years later, when the Ascendancy attacked the Alien Coalition, Melinae decided to stay on the Rau've Capitol Planet, relocating with the government when the planet was bombarded, to "try and pave the way for peace, if the Ascendancy comes to its senses before destroying itself." By this time, she had already been disillusioned, but wanted to try and save as many innocent human lives as possible by speaking to the Rau've on the citizens behalf. This gambit seems to have paid off, as after the Battle of Proxima she works closely with Alexander Kherol on the Treaty of Proxima, ending the war.

This close contact also put her in a position where she couldn't not find out the secret of the Star Marines, how they were made and treated. With this knowledge cementing her views on the Ascendancy government, and the President for Life in particular, she made up her mind. After sending a final letter to Kherol, she vanished into Rau've society, defecting to the freshly formed Moonstrike.

@The Jest @Conscripts Here she is, finally done and posted!

@Zora Should I post again, to just reply to your post, or should I wait for someone else? Not really sure, but I know I don't want this to die.
@Letter Bee This sounds cool af, I'm in if you'll have me. (I also joined the discord)
@Coltshan Hmmm... Sure, this sounds neat.
Sorry about the... slight delay on my first post, but here's Stella, in all her cocky-ass glory
Luna Station, thank fuck. Stella breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped off the interstellar transport she'd boarded in the Burnell System, carrying what was left of her possessions in a backpack and a duffle bag. Taking a deep breath of the comparatively fresh station air, she moved down the arrivals dock towards Customs, mentally going over the next steps in her life.

"Hmm... lets see, first lodging, then a job. Maybe stop to eat on the way, as long as they don't charge tourist prices..." she muttered to herself while waiting her turn to be processed, before turning to the bored-looking customs agent as he looked up from his computer and took her ID.

"Ma'am, do you have anything to declare?" the customs agent asked.

"No, but... you probably know this station pretty well. Whats a good place to stay unti-" Stella cut herself off as she saw a crew-needed ad scroll across one of the screens in the hallway just past the customs booth.

"On second thought, how do I get to Viewing Dock C-3?" She asked, her relaxed manner completely forgotten as a new opportunity showed itself faster than she had imagined possible.

"Um... yes ma'am, its up three levels and ring-ward from here, but I wouldn't get your hopes up to high, those positions tend to fill up real quick. Good luck to you, though."

-----------------------------------------------------

Out of breath after her mad dash to find Viewing Dock C-3 and one Captain DeBaker, she rounded the final corner, stopping just outside the door to catch her breath and brush her hair out of her eyes before opening the door to the lounge, hearing "-and see if we can get this ship out of there. I am pretty sure all of you have to come with, because I have to confirm that I have a crew for such a job." as she entered. Stella walked up to the speaker and held out a small folio containing her Pilots License and a summation of her best racing achievements.

"Hello, are you Captain DeBaker, and is the Pilots position on your ship still open? I'm Stella Righte and I think my record speaks for itself. I've mostly flown racing ships, both custom and stock, but I certified on all common civilian ship types in training, and it can't be too different. Besides, I spent most of the intersystem trip in sims, freshening up on various ship types."

She holds herself with confidence, and the barely repressed energy of a hotshot.
