The song was coming to an end and Kenia had to close her eyes to keep from breaking down completely. It took everything in her to not just start sobbing, something she never liked doing. She took a shuddering breath, regaining control over her emotions, when she felt someone touch her hand and give it a squeeze. She opened her eyes, looking to her side and expecting to see her father standing there. It genuinely surprised her to see Malachi instead.

His face seemed to hold a softness she hadn’t seen yet from him, a comforting kindness that kept her from immediately pushing him away. She felt a small crack form in the walls she always kept up and it frightened her, but she managed to ignore it for the time being. Perhaps, for now, it would be okay to let someone in and try to comfort her.

Her gaze turned back to the painting as she unthinkingly laced her fingers with Malachi’s, the gesture bringing her more comfort than she expected. ”Thank you.” She responded in almost a whisper as she examined the faces of her children again. She remembered the day well, the painting taking many hours as they had to constantly stop to feed the twins. There was even one point where they had forgotten who had been holding who and got it mixed up for a short time. Many had a hard time telling the twins apart, but Kenia always knew which one was which at first glance.

”This one is Lura and this one is Rhys.” She told Malachi as she pointed them out, feeling the urge to talk about her children for a moment. ”They were always such happy babies, rarely fussing and always let us sleep through the night. They hated being seperated, though, and that’s when they would become a challenge.” She explained as she giggled a bit at the memory. Her face slowly fell again as she continued to speak. ”They were only three years old when…” She trailed off as she felt the familiar pain in her chest take hold once again. She closed her eyes, trying hard to fight back her tears once more.

Week Summary

Seeing the destruction within Risa's and Dionaea's homes was heartbreaking even to Elsea. Finding the corpse of Dio's brothers was even worse. If it had just been their bodies it would have been one thing, but seeing the charred skin caused Elsea to have to swiftly leave the ruins. She'd vomited outside and it took awhile to stop the panic that had set in. Even though she had control of the fire, the thought of burning alive still plagued her and to see someone may have gone through that sickened her. She only hoped they had died swiftly before that as it would have been a mercy.

After leaving the house, she took the time to get to know the others and even accepted the apology of Kyran. She found that she actually enjoyed his company just as much as she enjoyed the company of the other women. She opened up to them on her story and the fact that being brought here had, in fact, saved her from certain death.

They made it to Roshmi and found solace in the home of Kyran's family, which she was thankful for. They had also supplied Elsea with a pair of false elf ears and she made sure she wore them whenever she was to leave the house. She was thankful for all the training provided, eager to learn how to wield her magic along with protect herself. She decided to take up target practice as well with her bow, not wanting to have to rely on only her magic. She also had Kyran's father teach her how to properly wield her dirk, which vital spots she should aim for if she were attacked, and things like those in hopes she wouldn't be completely helpless in a fight.

The rebels had also graciously provided some money for Elsea and she made sure to hold on to it for dear life. She's always been one to save her money, only spending it when she absolutely needed to. She would make sure she left some with Kyran's parents when they left, however, as she was quite thankful for their kindness and generosity.

Present

Elsea had been sleeping quite peacefully, having pleasant and senseless dreams. That is until she was awoken by sudden shouting. She shot up out of bed, the dirk she slept with under her pillow now in her hand. If she'd learned anything over the week it was to be prepared for anything at all times. So she had taken to sleeping with a weapon just in case. She also wasn't a very heavy sleeper and even some of the smallest noises could wake her up which was an advantage in her mind.

Her hair was a wild mess, sticking up all over the place as she looked to Kyran with an alert expression. It took her a moment to comprehend what he was saying, but when she finally did she felt agitation for being awoken in such a way. She gave him a death glare as she silently got out of bed. She set her dirk down as she made her was over to the fox man."Hush…" Elsea started as abw looked up at him and she clamped her hand over his mouth. "It is far too early for all this racket and I need you to just shut up for two minutes." She continued before removing her hand and crossing her arms over her chest.

"She left about an hour ago, I heard her get up. Also perhaps if you took two minutes to just look around and observe before losing your mind you'd realize something else. Risa isn't alone, do you notice someone else missing?" She asked as she gestured around the room, giving him moment to think about it. "Hades isn't here either now is he? I can almost promise you he went with her to protect her. The beach isn't that far from here and the wolf would have found a way to alert us if something were amis." She finally explained as she moved to dress herself as she was only in her nightgown. She knew Kyran wouldn't give up that easily so she decided to get ready to go with him to find Risa.

"Honestly Kyran, you're very sweet and you do well in protecting Risa, Dio, and even myself. Sometimes, however, people need their space and some alone time." She scolded him as she dressed herself in her pants and tunic. She looked in a mirror to brush out her wild hair and apply her elf ears before she grabbed her dirk and deemed herself ready. "Alright come now, let's go check on Risa." She said as she shooed him out the door.

Week Summary

After Terneus had left and they had time to settle down a bit, questions were asked and Kenia left that to Malachi. She stayed silent through the entire explanation, neither confirming nor denying what he said as she decided to stay out of it. The fact was that these humans were here, she wasn’t sure if they could be sent back, and they could help with the Aklenroth issue or at the very least getting close to her husband. Either way she would let Malachi tell them whatever he thought would make them help.

When that was finished they knew they needed to find a safer place to stay, somewhere they could rest and get cleaned up with minimal worry. Roshmi seemed the most logical place to go as it was a large city full of a mixture of people. It would be easier to hide the Rei and Corvina. Kenia eventually mentioned she had a place they could go, but she didn’t explain further from there. Instead she decided to just take them there and hope for the best.

Arriving in Roshmi, she took them to the wealthier side of the city until they were standing in front of a large estate. She paused outside for a long minute before taking a deep breath and lead them up to the front door only to be greeted by a Dragonborn who immediately recognized Kenia. He had lead the group into a sitting room where they waited for a short while before an elven man who swiftly moved to embrace Kenia. Nym Biralei had been shock, yet thrilled to hear his daughter had come home to him after many years of not seeing her. He was aware of her line of work, yet he wished she’d find something else and settle down. He was quite surprised to see his daughter with a group of people, especially when he saw one seemed to look like a respectable elven man.

The humans troubled Nym a bit, however he wasn’t about to deny his daughter or her friends sanctuary. The guest rooms were made up and the house staff were sworn to secrecy, providing a safe place for the group to stay. Shortly after they were left to settle in, Kenia disappeared for several hours without a word. When she returned she came bearing gifts of elven tipped ears for both Rei and Corvina along with a set of clothes for Rei. She didn’t explain where she’d gotten them nor was she willing to speak about it, she told them just to say thank you and carry on.

Out back of the estate was a nice patch of forest that Malachi and Kenia could use to help train the humans in their magic and so they did. Malachi was very nagging with the training and Kenia would often bicker with him to back off, they were under enough pressure. They both became very parent like to Rei and Corvina perhaps even without really realizing it. Kenia found herself actually enjoying the company of the three and it scared her quite a bit. She never liked getting close to people because it often led to heartbreak.

Through the week, Kenia’s father seemed to have taken a liking to Malachi and every chance he got her tried to push the two together. Kenia didn’t often get flustered or uncomfortable, but for some reason her father doing this would always rile her up and she would quickly leave the situation and occupy herself with something else. And so the week went…

Present

It wasn’t quite time for Rei and Cora to start training for the day so Kenia had decided to visit a section of the house she had been specifically avoiding until now. Down the hallway were various painted portraits of people from her family. Her grandfather and grandmother were in one of them, painted shortly after their wedding. Then there was one of them with their children, her father only a small baby in the photo. Then came her parents and the family portrait. Where Kenia was stopped, however, was in front of a portrait of a blonde elven woman with a man at her side and two blonde haired babies in their arms.

Kenia was unsure as to why her father kept this portrait as it seemed to only bring heartbreaking memories. She stared at the face of herself before her eyes moved to the two babies. She felt a few silent tears slip down her face as emotions she tried to keep buried slipped through her walls. One hundred years did little to dull the pain of the loss of her children and this seemed to surprise her. She longed to hear the giggles of the beautiful little boy and girl in the painting, but never again would that happen. She felt a stabbing pain in her chest and it took everything in her to keep standing there.

Her eyes then moved to the man in the picture and the hatred she felt for him coursed through her. For a brief moment she considered taking the painting and allowing Cora to use it as target practice for the day. It was the only painting she had of her children, however, and if she didn’t want to lose that. She reached out and gently touched the painting as she began singing a lullaby she once sang to those babies. The haunting sound of her voice began to echo through the halls, but she didn’t care. The song seemed to bring her some comfort all while reminding her of what she had to do to avenge her children.

Torvi could tell that Bowyn didn’t wish to leave yet and she couldn’t blame him. She didn’t wish to leave her sister to this fate either, but what she had felt...no, seen through the ground troubled her deeply. She knew they needed to flee swiftly if they wished to survive and she had made a promise to herself, despite Bowyn’s earlier words, to make sure this man survived. She refused to be the cause of his death and if that meant she would have to physically drag him away then she would.

Thankfully that didn’t happen as Boreas swooped down at Bowyn, quite obviously trying to get him to move. He finally began moving and she began leading the way. She couldn’t feel the vibrations in the ground anymore, however, she knew which direction the undead were and which direction they weren’t. So she lead them that way, keeping her eyes peeled for any more dangers along the way. She kept the axe in her hand as well, deciding it best to be ready for anything. Her heart pounded in her chest and she kept glancing back at Bowyn, making sure he was still there and hadn’t stopped to break down or anything.

They finally got a moment to stop to rest and Torvi was a bit relieved. She needed to catch her breath and she wasn’t surprised to see that Bowyn needed a moment as well. She didn’t dare follow him as he began to walk away, completely understanding that he needed to be alone for a moment. She still had no idea exactly who Aeryn was, but she knew now was not the time to ask. She wished for a moment she could actually speak to the bird as he came to land on her shoulder. She could have asked him, but she decided perhaps in time she could ask Bowyn. She’d wait until things seemed to calm down some.

She glanced over at Boreas for a moment, unsure if she should say anything to him. ”Thank you...for helping back there with my sister that is.” She decided that might be the best thing to say. She still wasn’t entirely sure if he could actually understand her, but it was worth a shot. She then turned her attention back in the direction Bowyn had gone. ”I’m a danger to him, I know this well and I hate that. He saved my life and in turn I’m putting his life in danger. I’ll do everything I can to help keep him alive though, you have my word on that. I owe him my life and I will pay up on that debt.” She spoke her promise to the bird before watching the incredible display of magic from where Bowyn was at. Her instincts at first was to think he was under attack and she was ready to go rush towards him, but the bird not moving made her pause.

Bowyn soon returned and he seemed a bit more detached, but Torvi didn’t comment on that. ”No need to apologize to me.” Was all she said as she began to head south with him once more. She could tell this journey was going to be a long one...

Torvi was ready to rush at the woman who’d just raised her sister from death. Who’d just pulled her soul back from eternal rest. She also noticed that the fairy woman also looked like a corpse now and part of her felt saddened for whoever she had once been. It would be a kindness to put both of them to rest for good, but something made her pause. It was the whisper of a name from beside her and she turned to look at Bowyn. The pain on his face made Torvi realize that he knew this woman. More than just knew her, but she was important to cause that pain. This fact kept her from rushing at the woman.

It was the dead female fairy’s voice that shocked Torvi. She could speak? Could Siri speak? Could she actually understand anything she would say? Her eyes fell back on her sister and her heart ached at the sight of her. She didn’t look as intelligent as the fairy woman. ”Siri?” She tried, watching for any reaction. None came and the disappointment she felt hurt. She wished she could speak with her sister once more, even if it were just to hear her voice.

She closed her eyes for a brief second as she tried to get ahold of herself, rage beginning to fill her once more. She had a strong desire to avenge her sister, to kill the ones who even made raising the dead a possibility. It was the sound of the woman’s voice and Bowyn dropping to the ground that caused her eyes to open once more. She saw the woman forming knives out of ice and then she watched as Bowyn quickly got himself up. Boreas had also gone to distract her sister. Everything seemed to be happening rather quickly and before she knew it Bowyn was in front of her, telling her to run. This just fueled her more and she gripped her axe even tighter.

”No, I’m not leaving you behind Bowyn. We fight them together or we flee together, I won’t accept anything else.” She informed him as her sights were locked on Siri. She didn’t want to fight her sister, but she knew she had to put her to rest once more. She watched as her sister’s corpse swatted at Boreas with one hand, but the other hand was pulling out her own hand axe. She watched as Siri swiftly went to swipe at Boreas with the axe and she felt the need to protect the merlin.

”Siri, stop!” She shouted and the earth seemed to rumble along with her before a small column of earth shot up, grasping the wrist of Siri before yanking her back down to the ground. Torvi stared in shock at what had just happened and Siri let out a chilling, loud shriek as her attention turned back to Torvi. Adrenaline was rushing through Torvi and her senses seemed to be heightened, perhaps overly heightened. She could feel the vibrations in the earth and she could almost see in a way. Not far from them, somewhere behind them she could feel the running foot beats of an animal chasing another smaller animal. Perhaps a fox chasing a rabbit? She tried to focus on the sensation, feeling out further ahead of them. What she felt there scared her and she quickly lost control over the sensation. She tried to reach out again, but nothing happened. She gave up and focused on what was happening in front of her. Siri was still trying to get her arm free, shrieking still and Torvi decided she was distracted enough for the moment.

”Bowyn something is wrong, they aren’t the only two out here. There’s more, a LOT more. I’m so sorry, but I think we may need to go.” She warned him, genuine concern in her eyes as she hoped he would heed her words. She had a feeling he was rather distracted by the woman, however, and she briefly glanced to Boreas for some help.

Adrielle gave a nod in approval as Aodh agreed to her order, knowing that he would do a better job for the time being watching over the new girl than Nur would. She wouldn’t leave it all only to him the entire journey to babysit the girl, but for now until they got sailing underway she would entrust it to him.

She moved up to the helm and smiled at the familiarness of it. ”Ready for another adventure, old gal? Let’s make Farley proud.” She said softly to the ship, treating it as if it were a living thing. There were some who believed it was a living thing and even Adrielle believed it listened to her to a point. It had been good to her, keeping her safe and taking her on great adventures for long before she had even become captain. This ship was her family along with Malek and the rest of her crew. It was all she really had anymore in this life.

She grasped the helm and began turning it away from port as she looked up to watch her crew following Malek’s orders. He’d also moved to speak to Winifred which she assumed was the reason for the man who she’d noticed bolted off the ship before she came to the helm. She was curious as to why she scared him away, but at the same time she trusted the woman’s judgement. Many believed Winnie to be able to tell fortune’s and the future and perhaps there was slight truth to it, but Adrielle knew that the woman’s real talent was listening. She listened in to conversations and always seemed to find something interesting out. That along with her cooking made her quite valuable to the ship.

She turned to look to the Pirate King’s ship as it sailed in and she could barely make out with her naked eye the man aboard the ship who seemed to be looking back at her. She quickly looked away and to her crew who were all hard at work. ”Come on ya knaves! We don’t want the Glasston navy beating us to our spoils now do we?!” She shouted at the crew, however there was a wild grin on her face as the ship slowly began to move. She began expertly directing the ship out of Parlay Cay and through the reefs and rocks, ready to be out on the open water.

One second Katurah was standing there, innocently asking the man if he was okay and then the next second he had moved so swiftly she was caught off guard. He’d grabbed her arm and pressed a weapon against her. She stood there frozen, staring up at him with large eyes full of fear. Her heart pounded in her chest and for a moment that’s all she could hear as she wondered if she was about to die right then and there. How short her pirating day would be and what a pathetic way to die. She was relieved as he slowly removed the weapon, but still remained still as she didn’t want that weapon to return.

”What?” She said as he began asking strange questions, it just confusing her further. She gasped in pain as he began to shake her arm. Her own hand instinctively moved to grasp his wrist, trying desperately to get him to let go. ”What are you even saying? I don’t know what you’re talking about! Please let go, you’re hurting me!” She began to plead as he continued to ask her questions. She felt tears stinging her eyes, but she tried to keep them from falling down her cheeks. She didn’t want to show weakness to this man or to anyone else. ”Help! Someone, please help!” She cried out, praying that anyone would hear here. She’d missed the call for all hands on deck as she was too distracted by this man that still had her by the arm.

”No one told me to board this ship! I don’t even know who any of these people are who you’re talking about! I was just in the tavern playing music when the Captain came in and stated she was looking for crew! I decided to join because I wanted to be a pirate! Please, I’m telling you the truth!” She pleaded with him as she couldn’t stop a tear from rolling down her face now.

The viking woman thought on Bowyn’s words as he went about dousing the fire. Torvi wasn’t truly convinced that there was meaning to her life anymore and part of her wondered if it would be better to just let herself be killed. The thought was dark, morbid, and strangely familiar. It was similar to when she’d lost her babies in her womb and then her husband. It was Siri that pulled her out of those thoughts, helped her see that her life still meant something to someone. She was gone now, though, so who really cared if she lived or died?

Bowyn seemed to care. To a point, at least. Perhaps not in the same way her sister did, but he was helping her and seemed to care a tiny bit if she lived or died. It was this thought that kept her from traversing further down her dark path in her mind. She glanced to Bowyn and then the bird as he introduced her formally. ”Thank you Boreas, I am truly grateful for your help.” She said to the bird with a soft smile, unsure if he could actually understand her or not. She was banking on the possibility that maybe he could since he seemed to converse with Bowyn.

She watched as Boreas flew away and waited patiently for Bowyn to gather his stuff. She gently hummed to herself, something she did often to pass time when she was waiting for something. It was a very feminine quality of hers, as her father always put it, teasing her for the habit. She’d never cared, however, and kept doing it through the years. She only stopped her humming once Bowyn seemed ready and Boreas had returned to lead them.

”Thank you Bowyn, you have been far more helpful to me than I would have ever hoped for. I truly owe you my life.” Torvi told him as she began to follow him and the bird into the forest. She walked in silence for awhile, more so keeping her ears open for any nearby dangers. If Bowyn was right and there were people out looking for her then she would need to be alert at all times. It would be in all of their best interests if they didn’t let their guard down even for a second.

It wasn’t long before she saw movement ahead of them and she looked to Bowyn for a brief moment, pointing out the movement just in case he hadn’t seen it either. She tried to proceed closer as silently as she could, but stealth really wasn’t her strongest skill. As she got closer she began somewhat recognizing her surroundings from the night before, though everything seemed just a little different in the daylight. Her eyes were locked on the movement ahead, that movement slowly revealing itself to be a woman standing over the body of her sister. Her hand immediately went to her axe, not liking that someone was messing with her sister’s body. She halted in her tracks, however, as she watched her sister’s arm move. Slowly her sister began to sit up, but the sight was frightening. Her skin was pale and had a blue hint to it, there was frost forming on her skin, and the horrible hole in her chest was still there. Siri was clearly still a corpse, yet she had been reanimated somehow. That’s when Bowyn’s words from earlier rang in her head on how Aklenroth could raise the dead. ”That bitch turned my sister into a draugr.” There was a deadly tone to her voice as she gripped her axe tighter and looked ready to attack the woman who’d done this to her sister.

Adrielle lifted the lid of a barrel, inspecting the contents for a moment. When she decided it was satisfactory she closed the lid and instructed a nearby crew member to take a small group of the barrels down to the kitchen. Winnie would be glad for all the new supplies. She also made sure they had plenty of gunpowder, cannonballs, and ammunition just in case they ran into any trouble. She hated the idea of not being prepared for the worst. She also made sure they had plenty of rum, especially because it was a tradition of hers to start every voyage with a night full of revelry to help keep spirits up.

As she finished inspecting another crate, she noticed Malek picking something up. She caught sight of the jeweled hairpin and smirked a bit as she immediately knew who's it was. Nur would be in for quite some trouble later, she was sure of it. The woman was an interesting character for sure, but Adrielle liked her.

Her attention moved from the pin to Malek as as he spoke. Everyone did seem to be in high spirits and she was glad for it. She just hoped everyone stayed that way as they were heading somewhere many were fearful of. Her gaze was pulled to the crew loading the last of the crates and Malek yelling at a few who were placing them in the wrong spot. She chuckled as she looked back to Malek. "Always, love. Always." She said in response with a smile. She was glad she had Malek to rely on and watch her back, which she in turn did the same.

A ship was sailing into the cove at that moment and it caught Adrielle's attention. "Fuck me sideways…" She groaned as she watched the Pirate King's ship sailing into port. Most of the crew knew that Adrielle didn't like to stay in port long when the Pirate King was there, but only Malek knew the reason why that was. "Looks like we'll be casting off sooner than we expected, my friend. Care to get all hands on deck for me?" She posed it as a question, but in truth it was an order to her first mate.

She moved to head for the helm of the Mermaid's Fortune, but she paused by Aodh first. "Aodh I need you to keep an eye on the kitten for me. Order her around, teach her how to do things if you wish, but report to me on how she's settling in. Everyone needs to pull their weight on this ship including her. Can I entrust this task to you?" She asked the man, hoping he'd be willing to take on the task.

Katurah followed the woman down towards where she assumed she was to be sleeping. They ran into a man on the way and she stared up at him, giving him a grin. She remained quiet throughout the whole thing, however, and the joke Nur had made had gone right over her head. She simply just waved to the man as they continued on down into the belly of the ship.

The living quarters wasn’t entirely surprising to her as it was a similar arrangement to the one she had on her way to Parlay Cay. The difference, she would soon come to realize, is that things didn’t appear to be separated by gender in any way. They entered where she would be staying and she noted that there would be at least three others in there with her. Then with closer examination of things she could tell it was probably men staying with her. She turned to Nur, about to ask if it was some sort of mistake, but the question quickly died on her lips. Clearly it wasn’t a mistake and she would have to just make due.

Nur began to give her advice and she listened closely to it. She was to use what she had in order to make life easier for her on the ship. She glanced down at herself and then at her violin, trying to figure out exactly what the woman meant. Could she use her musical abilities to get people to do what she wanted? How in the world was she supposed to do that? Before she could even ask, Nur was leaving her to her own devices. ”It was really nice meeting you…” She awkwardly called after the woman as a farewell before turning to the empty hammock. She sighed and slowly began trying to find a place for her few belongings.

After a short amount of time Katurah looked at her place of rest and nodded. No use in staying down here, she wanted to watch the ship be cast off. Perhaps she could learn a thing or two as well. So she left the place and slowly began making her way towards the top deck, but something caught her attention. It sounded like someone was...carving something. She quietly followed the noise to an open door and she slowly peeked in. Inside was the man she’d met earlier who’d asked her a disturbing question. Her original reaction was to just swiftly leave, however she soon noticed the glyphs he’d been carving. She stared at them for a moment in awe and confusion. His voice pulled her attention once more and she looked at him on his knees, touching one of the glyphs. ”Umm...a-are you okay? What are those?” She decided to ask, mostly concerned with his well being.

Elsea had heard Risa’s heartbroken voice at the news of Jean’s death and it broke her heart a little bit. The woman seemed so caring and wanted to save everyone. It was quite admirable if she were being honest. It also brought her own thoughts back to Elthrael. Kyran hadn’t mentioned if he’d seen the male fairy and it filled her with a bit of fear. Was he okay? She really wished he would have followed them into the cave. Although she may have been mad at him for trying to control her, but she still cared about him. He was the first one in this land to help her out, it still counted for something.

She watched Kyran prevent Risa from going back and she had to stop herself from trying to do the same. She wanted to see if Elthrael was alright, but instead knew her best bet right now was to follow this group. When they got to the mouth of the cave, Elsea found herself moving over to Risa and gently taking her hand. She looked at the woman and gave her a comforting smile, though there was a look of sorrow in her eyes. She then looked back to Kyran. ”I’ll follow you guys wherever you decide to go at this point, but where was Elthrael? You only mentioned Jean, was Elthrael okay?” She asked him warily, fearing his answer.

Torvi sat with her knees pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs, as she now stared into the fire. Fire was quite the mesmerizing thing, beautiful as it danced around, yet even the smallest amount could be deadly. It was destructive, yet it also brought life and that was something she found quite interesting. It was these thoughts running through her mind that almost made her miss the beginning of Bowyn’s next words. Slowly she looked over to the man, an irritation starting to fill her once more. Battle was a horrible thing, yes, she couldn’t disagree with that. She’d been apart of it enough to know this, yet in her mind it was just a part of life. If no one fought the chances of more dying or worse happening were even more a threat. ”The young die no matter what when there is a tyrant or some other threat.” She said coldly, yet it was the truth. Her eyes fell back to the fire as memories began to flood her once more.

”Battle is horrific, you aren’t wrong. I’ve been in many battles and have lost so many that I know this first hand. Though I’d rather die in battle knowing I at least fought for my freedom than die in the horrible ways I’ve watched men kill young men who refused to fight. Where I come from men are not kind to those who won’t or can’t fight.” She told him as she shuddered at the memories of men forcing families to watch their children die in horrible ways before also killing them. Of slowly roasting a living person over a fire, letting the family listen to them scream until their screams were no more. Just the thought of such things made her feel ill.

She finally pulled herself out of her thoughts once more and she looked back to Bowyn. ”I’m truly sorry you had to fight and you lost so many. I am eternally grateful to you for the help you have given me so far and continue to offer. If we can find my sister and give her a proper funeral that would be wonderful, but if it becomes dangerous or we get caught before then by these people that are hunting me then I want you to turn me in. Promise me you’ll do whatever you need to in order to protect yourself. Even though I would like to continue living, my life is meaningless in comparison to yours as you are a native to this land and I am not.” She told him as she slowly decided to get up, ready to go look for her sister’s body. She was serious in what she said, knowing she’d feel awful if something were to happen to Bowyn because of her.

To say Adrielle was relieved when she heard her first mates voice would have been an understatement. He did well in the position she put him in, always taking care of things for her. The crew also seemed to respect him which she was glad for, if they didn’t she would quickly through them overboard. That had happened on occasion and she seemed to never think twice about it.

She glanced over at Malek as he approached and gave him a smirk as she had just heard his treatment to the new girl. ”Or we could compromise and you can help me finish this. Two people will get it done a lot quicker then we can leave ahead of schedule.” She told him as she handed the paper over as she herself continued to check things. ”And nay Malek, no need to throw the worm overboard...yet.” She said as she used his own words for the woman, glancing at her friend again with a chuckle.

Her attention was then caught by the Sea-Witch as he boarded the Mermaid’s Fortune, an eagerness in his step. ”Soon, Mr. Seasworn. As soon as the cargo is loaded we can cast off. Don’t want to run out of alcohol now do we?” She said in response to the man before going back to her task. Many were afraid of Aharuhn, afraid of his powers. She’d also heard whispers of him being crazy, but she disregarded it all. While Adrielle secretly had a healthy, respectful fear for the man, she would never outwardly show said fear. She was content with being known as the crazy captain that took on the scary Sea-Witch.

She watched the feline woman for a moment as her attention turned back to Malek. ”You may think she’s trouble, but look at how much entertainment she’s bringing to the crew already.” She told him as she gave him a playful smirk. The girl may think she was only on board to play music and learn the ropes, but that wasn’t the entire truth. Every once and awhile Adrielle liked to provide toys for her crew to play with.

Katurah’s ears picked up on footsteps coming towards her and she turned in hopes someone was coming to save her. She was met with the frightening sight of...a dark elf? Whatever he was he didn’t look happy and her eyes widened as she took a few steps away from him. She had to stop when she realized any further and she would trip over a crate. He seemed to tower over her and it just made her feel even smaller than she already was. ”I-I’m s-sorry. Really, truly I am.” She began to stammer out, every instinct in her telling her to run yet she did her best to ignore that. She had to prove she was somewhat brave.

He soon walked passed her and on to the captain and Katurah found herself moving away from the both of them. She glanced around once more wondering who this Nur person was. That’s when a tall red haired, bronze skinned man approached her with a much friendlier demeanor and this helped her relax a bit. She gave the man a relieved smile, making a note of the name of the first mate along with his own. One this Katurah was quite good at was remembering names and faces. It just seemed to be a natural skill of hers. ”I really am sorry. Sometimes I just get so excited I don’t even realize I’m talking so much.” She told the man sheepishly. ”It’s very nice to meet you Aodh. I’m Katurah, the ships new entertainment.” She introduced herself happily as she held up her violin for emphasise.

That’s when another, older man approached and she stared up at him as he looked her over. She had come accustomed to gazes like his from years of working in a tavern. They no longer bothered her as the gazes were better than wandering hands. Those she’d also learned how to deftly avoid. What she wasn’t prepared for was his question. That question caught her completely off guard ”N-no thank you.” She said as she unthinkingly took a step away from the man and moved closer to Aodh, her new friend and saviour in her eyes.

A woman now approached the group, an annoyed look on her face. ”Wow, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen! I wish I was as beautiful as you!” Katurah exclaimed in awe, having no filter whatsoever. She often spoke what was on her mind and it got her in trouble a lot. She let the woman pull her away from the men, though glanced back at them briefly.

”It was lovely meeting you both.” She said to both Aodh and Ahharuhn, though the latter she wasn’t entirely sure if it really was lovely meeting him. He scared her a bit, but her mother had always said it was better to be kind to people you’d just met. She then followed the woman, assuming this was Nur.
