Elsea had heard Risa’s heartbroken voice at the news of Jean’s death and it broke her heart a little bit. The woman seemed so caring and wanted to save everyone. It was quite admirable if she were being honest. It also brought her own thoughts back to Elthrael. Kyran hadn’t mentioned if he’d seen the male fairy and it filled her with a bit of fear. Was he okay? She really wished he would have followed them into the cave. Although she may have been mad at him for trying to control her, but she still cared about him. He was the first one in this land to help her out, it still counted for something.

She watched Kyran prevent Risa from going back and she had to stop herself from trying to do the same. She wanted to see if Elthrael was alright, but instead knew her best bet right now was to follow this group. When they got to the mouth of the cave, Elsea found herself moving over to Risa and gently taking her hand. She looked at the woman and gave her a comforting smile, though there was a look of sorrow in her eyes. She then looked back to Kyran. ”I’ll follow you guys wherever you decide to go at this point, but where was Elthrael? You only mentioned Jean, was Elthrael okay?” She asked him warily, fearing his answer.

Torvi sat with her knees pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs, as she now stared into the fire. Fire was quite the mesmerizing thing, beautiful as it danced around, yet even the smallest amount could be deadly. It was destructive, yet it also brought life and that was something she found quite interesting. It was these thoughts running through her mind that almost made her miss the beginning of Bowyn’s next words. Slowly she looked over to the man, an irritation starting to fill her once more. Battle was a horrible thing, yes, she couldn’t disagree with that. She’d been apart of it enough to know this, yet in her mind it was just a part of life. If no one fought the chances of more dying or worse happening were even more a threat. ”The young die no matter what when there is a tyrant or some other threat.” She said coldly, yet it was the truth. Her eyes fell back to the fire as memories began to flood her once more.

”Battle is horrific, you aren’t wrong. I’ve been in many battles and have lost so many that I know this first hand. Though I’d rather die in battle knowing I at least fought for my freedom than die in the horrible ways I’ve watched men kill young men who refused to fight. Where I come from men are not kind to those who won’t or can’t fight.” She told him as she shuddered at the memories of men forcing families to watch their children die in horrible ways before also killing them. Of slowly roasting a living person over a fire, letting the family listen to them scream until their screams were no more. Just the thought of such things made her feel ill.

She finally pulled herself out of her thoughts once more and she looked back to Bowyn. ”I’m truly sorry you had to fight and you lost so many. I am eternally grateful to you for the help you have given me so far and continue to offer. If we can find my sister and give her a proper funeral that would be wonderful, but if it becomes dangerous or we get caught before then by these people that are hunting me then I want you to turn me in. Promise me you’ll do whatever you need to in order to protect yourself. Even though I would like to continue living, my life is meaningless in comparison to yours as you are a native to this land and I am not.” She told him as she slowly decided to get up, ready to go look for her sister’s body. She was serious in what she said, knowing she’d feel awful if something were to happen to Bowyn because of her.

Even though she was running as fast as she could, it was clear to her even before Cade said that they wouldn't be able to outrun the undead dragon at that pace. His flames were flooding the entire forest and soon they wouldn't have anywhere to run. Even though Cade mentioned Inori's words about traumatic experiences and manifesting her powers, Ayita was too focused on simply trying to run away to hear his words as nothing more than background noise. If only she could use her powers or at least know what her powers were... But how could she know such things? She didn't know how to make them appear or to use them! She was a human! Magic was just something out of stories for her.

Silently cursing herself, Ayita shook her head and continued running. Even though she didn't know how to beat an undead dragon or to use magic, she knew how to walk and move through a forest. Focusing on nothing more than running, her steps were incredibly light as she ran through the forest, going to the few places where the fire didn't engulf yet. Even though she was too concentrated to notice, Cade would notice almost immediately that she was getting faster and faster. It was beginning to get hard even to Cade himself to accompany her as she continued running. Her steps now were so light they weren't making almost any sound and a strange breeze accompanied them both as they continued running. While Ayita herself didn't realize what she was doing yet, Cade would feel almost as if Ayita was being surrounded by a gentle wind breeze as she ran, blowing the ashes and the fire away from their path.

Before Ayita herself or Cade could do anything more though, a strange mist suddenly came crashing down in the burning forest, almost immediately extinguishing all the fires created by the undead dragon and then began swirling around the undead dragon, distracting him.

"What?" Ayita asked, confused as she stopped running as soon as the mist descended.

It was then that a voice suddenly came from behind them. Turning around almost immediately after hearing it already in a combat stance, Ayita was surprised when she noticed that the voice came from a pale, white haired woman wearing colorful eastern clothes. While Ayita was still wary regarding her presence, the second she mentioned that they should run away while the undead dragon, called Soruklithbaal was distracted, Ayita quickly realized that whoever that woman was, the mist was her doing.

"I do have many questions, but now is not the time. That... thing... Thanks for the help." Ayita said, with a grateful nod towards the woman.

"We should run while we can... As far as we can from this undead dragon." Ayita said, turning to Cade as she began heading away from the dragon, using the precious time the strange woman had bought them with her mist.

FLASHBACK
Optional Read

Back in better times, Darius found himself behind the lens of his camera as he shot a picture of an array of mountain flowers off a dirt trail, he, his older brother John, and John’s girlfriend of four years, Erica were hiking on. Darius was the third wheel, but only because he had just started dating a woman he wasn't comfortable bringing around his brother just yet. Scaring her off by taking her on a double date with basically family might seem too fast for both her and Darius. But honestly, in the grand scheme of things, it almost didn’t matter The man’s relationships were fleeting at best.

“Flowers? Really? You got a supermodel couple right in front of you and you're taking pictures of flowers?” John teased with a smirk on his face.

“You can’t tell the view isn’t nice. We may not literally be on top of the world, but I sure as hell feel like it. Don’t worry, bro, I got this.” Darius said as he looked his brother in the eyes with assurance. He knew how important today was for him. This wasn’t just some run of the mill hiking trip. John was going to finally pop the question to Erica.

“Just don’t go and forget about us. Easy?”

“Easy!” Darius replied as the trio ventured up the trail. I love you bro, but fuck this hike. You couldn’t go to some fancy restaurant like a normal person? “I want to be doing something we both love to do.” But didn’t think about poor ol’ me. I guess I’ll pay him back at the wedding when I tell every embarrassing story I can muster up.

As Darius trailed behind the couple enjoying one another's company, something pricked at him mentally as he looked upon their backs. Was it envy? He raised his camera and snapped a candid photo of the two. He smiled weakly and then looked to his side. No one.

Several minutes passed before John trailed back to walk with his brother. John knew Darius could play the third wheel role well, but he didn't want to leave him completely out. Besides, he felt that he needed to talk to him about some things.

"I think I'm ready for some guy talk now. You know you should have invited that girl. I know you said it might seem like too much, but you gotta take risks sometimes man." John put a heavy hand on Darius' shoulder.

"Come on, I take risks. I started my own little business for crying out loud." Darius argued with a confident smirk. John mockingly nodded.

"Yeah that's true, but that's because you knew you could. Doesn't really count… Listen, you have so much potential bro, and you hold yourself back and I don't know if it's because you're sca-"

"I'm not scared!" Darius shrugged his brother's hand from his shoulder and raised his voice loud enough for Erica to turn around. There was a brief silence. "Just drop it." Darius stated as he used his head to motion John to go ahead to accompany Erica.

As much as he hated it, Darius knew John was right. As much as he hated being number two, he found comfort in not having many expectations. He didn't take risks.. he was safe. And that day, he watched his brother take the biggest risk he'd ever take. At the peak of the mountain, John proposed to Erica. The pictures were beautiful.

Weapons and armor?

Had Kyran lost it? Dionaea questioned her friend's sanity in the moment, whoever wanted them dead would stop at nothing. They killed a stranger with no hesitation; what would they do to someone who provided reason to be hunted. The young fairy took heed after Kyran with Risa and Elsea in tow. Risa was clearly distraught, and Dia wanted nothing more to comfort her friend, but they didn't have the time right now for it- their moment in the cave now seeming like a very distant memory rather than just moments ago. "It will be okay Risa." the girl managed out, quietly but assertive in it's delivery. She didn't know if it would be okay, but if all had one another's back- it would be okay for now.

Elsea's own questions caused Dionaea's head to spin thinking of the other fairy and what his status had been during the fight, had he sacrificed Jean for his own safety? Perhaps her brethren had other plans with humans and delivered the broken one himself? The thoughts were endless as she tried to keep a sturdy lip. She waited for Kyran's answer for reassurance in her own comforts.

As Cade ran, he slowly began to find it more and more difficult to keep up with Ayita. The more they moved the more it seemed like she was becoming a gust of wind herself, and with each stride the flames nearest them were extinguished. It took Cade a bit, but then he realized that she had found her magic, and it was air. If they weren’t running for their lives, he would’ve celebrated the moment right then, but the threat of the massive dragon still hung over them. He wasn’t focused on the dragon when it happened but stopped in confusion when Ayita stopped running as well. He looked around as the flames were extinguished and then back towards the dragon who was now distracted by mist. When a voice came from behind him every hair from his ears down to his tail stood on end in surprise. It was extremely rare that anyone or anything snuck up on Cade, he was a cat after all, and he did not enjoy being surprised in this manner. He hissed as he spun around to see who the voice belonged to and faced the demoness.

Although Cade easily figured out that the mist and the current confusion the dragon was in, was all the doing of this woman he was immediately annoyed. More so with himself, than the stranger, for letting himself be so easily startled, if he was to assist Ayita on this quest to defeat the lich he needed to do better than this. Ayita spoke to the strange new creature and with the scent of burnt forest and undead dragon so thick in the air Cade could not really get a scent from her. It didn’t matter anyhow; their choice was either run with the stranger or stay and be killed by a dragon. “We run.” Cade said quickly in agreement, wanting to be far away from the dragon. He could better asses this stranger once they were in less immediate danger.

Bowyn thought on Torvi’s point, that the young would die either way under the rule of tyrant. There was truth in that as well, he often wondered what terrible fate had befallen those taken from the village, it was likely something just as terrible as those he’d seen die. Maybe in her world this truth carried more weight, but humans did not have Aklenroth, and to chose to fight him would only bring more death, and with more death his power would continue to grow. Bowyn stood when Torvi did, ready for the arduous trek through the forest. Her final words, although he assumed she intended them to be noble, were ones he found truly troubling. “Although you are likely doomed, your life is not meaningless. No one’s is. I am sorry you were brought here, I wish I had the power to send you home, but I do not. If we are caught, we shall run our separate ways, let luck decide our fates. Do not throw your life away for mine, for anyone’s.” Although Bowyn valued his own self-preservation, he did not wish to see anyone put his life before their own. To have another life scarified for his would be a terrible burden to have to live with. He whistled for Boreas and as the merlin flew to him, he used the pot to fetch more water from the stream and put out the small fire.

“My friend is called Boreas, he will help us find your sister’s remains.” He said gesturing the merlin perched upon his shoulder. Bowyn looked back at the bird who remained on his shoulder, looking as annoyed as bird possibly could.

“Oh he will?” Boreas asked tilting his head slightly.

“Please.” Bowyn offered the bird, who then ruffled his feathers some and took off in flight, using his keen senses to seek out the scent of another human in the forest. Bowyn turned his attention to gathering up what he needed from the camp. He dug around inside the shelter, underneath the leaves and moss until he found the small box buried there, inside the box was the various stolen jewelry that he did not sell, the ones he kept. He placed the small wooden box inside the pot, along with the pouch of food and wrapped these few possessions up tightly in the fur blanket. The camp was now tainted with the human’s scent anyway, and he could not return here. The thought of leaving the human alone in a forest so close to Daka also seemed less than savory, this would truly doom her and while he’d rather not admit it, he found her difficult to dislike. It wasn’t too much longer before Boreas returned, and called for Bowyn from a nearby tree, signaling that he was ready to lead them.

“I can help you for as long as it’s safe to, maybe even long enough for you find others more willing to fight. For now we follow the bird.” He said, continuing to move the line of how much he would help.

Soruklithbaal recognized the sorcery that befell him almost immediately. Not because he had witnessed the summoning of the creature in his presence from time before now, but because of how he saw things in this world. With his vision relying on magic and not the eyes he once possessed in life, the dracolich had the ability to detect the life force of the living as well as magical energies. To Soruklithbaal, every element of magic had it's own presence and look to it. Demons however, often did not share the same magical abilities, and therefore appeared differently from individual to individual.

In this case, Soruklithbaal detected Sakura's unique magical essence. The beast immediately roared at the betrayal before building up its blue flames. The cloud-like creature threatened to snuff it out, but the dracolich persisted in concentrating its seemingly inevitable fire blast.

But then it caught wind of something...

The cloud-like creature managed to extinguish Soruklithbaal's built up blue flames before it could unleash it onto the forest. The dracolich roared and thrashed about trying to free itself from Sakura's creature. For now, Soruklithbaal would be distracted... He did have a part to after all.

Baraian Paladice

Time: Dawn of the First Day
Location: Roshmi City

The dark elf watched and listened to the masked individual with an analyzing kind of stare, as if searching for something. Baraian himself remained still, his hand still around the dagger, the blood dripping on the floor below. It was only when the vulpine decided to try and taunt him, in which the dark elf allowed a soft exhale to escape his lips, the nature of his seemingly opponent becoming abit more clear.

'Honorable. Unbiased. Perceptive. Arrogance. Judgemental. Confidence. Prepared. Cunning.' The dark elf thought, word after the other as each of those traits were revealing themselves in the masked fan-wielder, at least that was what he could tell for now, from what he'd knew.

"He was a threat, but no more..." Baraian said in a cold and unfeeling manner, his face stern, his dagger pointing to the dead human. "Your nature is showing me things, masked warrior. I lied. It was not by my hand he died, better not tell the city guards that though. Unless you want to be hunted."

The dark elf paused for a moment. "The golden death of a king and the haven of an opposing force. If these are things you seek, pick that human up and follow me." Baraian said, sheathing his bloodied dagger. "The monetary coin for his death may still help the oppressed ones which at this very moment be awaiting for your arrival, human. Their beacon of light and hope for a better future. Bring him won't you? Let his death not be wasted."

There was no overbearing sense of joy from the dark elf, who kept a straight face, he turned fully towards the masked individual and began to slowly step forwards towards the doorway. "Strike me down and you'll never be free, not of that memory or the lich, neither will you know of what I am about to show you." The dark elf breathed out softly, as if struck by sudden boredom or a headache. The three individuals seemed to indeed be people who were opposing Aklenroth, if not directly then indirectly. That was all he needed to know right now, it had been fortunate indeed that he had been able to locate them, but even more so the human who was still alive under that hood.

"To an old forgotten temple, built by those whose prayers were long unheard, kept by those with the dream." He eyed Kuroi as he tried to pass him by, breathing out softly through his nose, his white coat spreading slightly as he did.

All he had to do now was to wait to see what they would chose to do.

Also, I am interested in meeting this land's king." He said, steadily watching all their movements. "Well, we should head out soon we would not want to waste precious time as I am pretty sure you were tasked to find humans and possibly those to help the cause. Righty mates, I am prepared for the travel ahead." He laughed as he spoke his last statement, swinging the head of the dead woman in the air.

O'Ner Faister

O'Ner watched the image of himself being blown apart and Umber's words, Rolling his eyes ignoring the words Umber spoke. "Thank you for the unnecessary imagery, You have gotten your point across" O'Ner walked towards Jack feeling that perhaps Umber was correct in giving him such a important task. "Indeed perhaps something of a more a menial task would be appropriate for this human" O'Ner was rubbing his human chin following behind the others, His eyes studying the human and wanting to see Jack in action. However he was not sure if he was trustworthy and wanted to test if he could serve the dark lord.

O'Ner was loyal to his master even though he did not fully agree with him, He was not going to be undermined by these lowly demons in his mind. His eyes moving towards Azriel and Umber, His thoughts moving towards what he would do once they are face to face with the rebels. Of course he would help his comrades, But part of him wants to extract information out of them. On what he didn't know yet but he was sure to get sort of information about humanity.

Ilan silently watched the situation unfold in front of him. He listened to the words of the dark elf and narrowed his eyes, trying to comprehend what he was saying. The elf spoke in partial riddles. It started to dawn on Ilan that he may be attempting to assist them.
But....why?

He spoke of opposing forces, rebels who were going against the lich king. Ilan already knew there were more humans. The idea of a force of operating rebels was something great. It meant the humans would not stand alone. Avalia was rising up to support them. If it was true it meant Ilan was no longer alone. He weighed his options. If the dark elf wanted to kill them both he and the human would already be dead. Fleeing with the girl was an option, but they wouldn't get very far. At the least they needed a disguise. Yet there was something about that plan that did not sit right with the faun. There was too much that could go wrong, he didn't want to go through the same thing he went through mere hours ago.

Going with the dark elf would be dangerous, he didn't know if he could trust him. His actions were questionable and his motives not completely clear. The fact that he hadn't killed them or turned them in for hiding a human was admirable. What would stop him however from doing so later? The uncertainty troubled him deeply, and a frown settled on his face.

They needed a safe place and come up with a plan. Would this old forgotten temple be such a place?

INTERACTIONS: Ayita @13org, Cadence @Helo, Soruklithbaal @Alivefalling

Sakura giggled like an excited little girl as she ran away from Soruklithbaal with the human and demihuman. She feared that the dracolich would destroy her cloud shikigami since its only purposes were to distract the dragon and to keep the forest from being burned more, but she was glad it was just as distracted as she hoped it would be. She didn't know if the dracolich was smarter than what Sakura originally thought or if he was really that distracted by her shikigami. Whichever it was, it was sure helping her plan a lot.

She glanced back as her shikigami continued to do its job, so much that she could only see glimpses of the dracolich's bony body and wings. She also knew her father the Lich King can see everything through Soruklithbaal's eyes. 'Sorry big guy, sorry father, but a demon's got to do what a demon's got to do', Sakura slyly thought to herself.

As their trio ran, Sakura took notice on the human's movement. Were humans supposed to be this fast? Even the demihuman seemed to be having difficulty catching up to her. Sakura was also surprised to find out who fast the human was; she had to infuse her umbrella with her own magic and rode it just to keep up with the two.

Upon further concentrating, Sakura could sense the faintest essence of magic emanating from the dark-skinned female. Sakura's knowledge about humans was limited, but at least she knew they're the weakest race of all. Judging from the small amount of magic the human was using, it seemed like the human didn't even realize she was using her magic in the first place. Does that mean all the other humans who arrived in Avalia can also learn magic?

Sakura smiled. The demoness was always keen to acquire new knowledge. She couldn't wait to get one back home to Daka Island to... study them. For now however, she had to continue on with her mission.

Their group ran as far away from Soruklithbaal as possible, then she motioned to the two to stop. "We have been fleeing for quite a while now. I suggest we take this moment to stop and rest," Sakura said to the two of them. They could still the dracolich's roars from afar, but Sakura hoped the big dumb dragon would understand her plans and leave them alone for now. She got off her umbrella and absorbed the magic from it to regain her life force back. "So, the rumors are true then: humans have arrived in Avalia. I expected more but I never knew humans would look so... basic," Sakura said as she approached the human.

Then she stopped herself and laughed. "Oh dear, where are my manners?". The demoness held her skirt and curtsied in front of the two. "Greetings, you may call me Sakura. It is such a pleasure meeting the both of you", Sakura said as she gave the two her serene and bright smile.

Location: The woods searching for sister dearest

The viking woman thought on Bowyn’s words as he went about dousing the fire. Torvi wasn’t truly convinced that there was meaning to her life anymore and part of her wondered if it would be better to just let herself be killed. The thought was dark, morbid, and strangely familiar. It was similar to when she’d lost her babies in her womb and then her husband. It was Siri that pulled her out of those thoughts, helped her see that her life still meant something to someone. She was gone now, though, so who really cared if she lived or died?

Bowyn seemed to care. To a point, at least. Perhaps not in the same way her sister did, but he was helping her and seemed to care a tiny bit if she lived or died. It was this thought that kept her from traversing further down her dark path in her mind. She glanced to Bowyn and then the bird as he introduced her formally. ”Thank you Boreas, I am truly grateful for your help.” She said to the bird with a soft smile, unsure if he could actually understand her or not. She was banking on the possibility that maybe he could since he seemed to converse with Bowyn.

She watched as Boreas flew away and waited patiently for Bowyn to gather his stuff. She gently hummed to herself, something she did often to pass time when she was waiting for something. It was a very feminine quality of hers, as her father always put it, teasing her for the habit. She’d never cared, however, and kept doing it through the years. She only stopped her humming once Bowyn seemed ready and Boreas had returned to lead them.

”Thank you Bowyn, you have been far more helpful to me than I would have ever hoped for. I truly owe you my life.” Torvi told him as she began to follow him and the bird into the forest. She walked in silence for awhile, more so keeping her ears open for any nearby dangers. If Bowyn was right and there were people out looking for her then she would need to be alert at all times. It would be in all of their best interests if they didn’t let their guard down even for a second.

It wasn’t long before she saw movement ahead of them and she looked to Bowyn for a brief moment, pointing out the movement just in case he hadn’t seen it either. She tried to proceed closer as silently as she could, but stealth really wasn’t her strongest skill. As she got closer she began somewhat recognizing her surroundings from the night before, though everything seemed just a little different in the daylight. Her eyes were locked on the movement ahead, that movement slowly revealing itself to be a woman standing over the body of her sister. Her hand immediately went to her axe, not liking that someone was messing with her sister’s body. She halted in her tracks, however, as she watched her sister’s arm move. Slowly her sister began to sit up, but the sight was frightening. Her skin was pale and had a blue hint to it, there was frost forming on her skin, and the horrible hole in her chest was still there. Siri was clearly still a corpse, yet she had been reanimated somehow. That’s when Bowyn’s words from earlier rang in her head on how Aklenroth could raise the dead. ”That bitch turned my sister into a draugr.” There was a deadly tone to her voice as she gripped her axe tighter and looked ready to attack the woman who’d done this to her sister.

Kuroi stayed silent, looking at the dark elf up and down. "And what is so invaluable that must be shown to a vulpine, a faun, and a human involved in this mess? What if I were to find myself at arrow point by the time we arrive at said temple, hm?" He asks, slowly lowering his fans. He flicked his wrist towards himself softly before hanging it from where it once was; Kuroi now only held one metal fan for protection's sake. "And if not me, how can I trust you won't slay the faun and the human? You pique my curiosity but surely there is some catch if you feel so inclined to reveal something to us all, no?"

The vulpine sighed and looked at the dark elf who attempted to pass him. He merely turned around to face the same direction he was and walked towards him, "We shall see if your intentions or true or that of a strategic coward, then."

He glanced over at the faun and the human, shaking his head as he motioned towards them, "I'm afraid you two don't have much of a choice. Better to follow a dangerous individual than risk becoming his next target, I suppose. Although, I'll make sure our new friend here doesn't lay a hand on either of you." He glares back at dark elf, still keeping ahold of his metal fan.

Once they were safely away from the dragon, and had all had a brief moment to catch their breath, Cade immediately threw his arms around Ayita in a celebratory bear hug. He wasn’t sure what the human customs were about hugs, but he was too proud of his friend for figuring out her magic that he didn’t think to worry about it. There was little that was as exhilarating as having to run for your life and he was so incredibly glad that they were all alive. He released Ayita from the hug after only a few seconds but wore a large tooth grin as he looked at her with pride. She had found her magic, which was the first step towards being able to stand against the lich.

“You did it! You used your magic!” Cade said with excitement. “I’ve never seen anything on two legs move so fast! You ran on the wind, I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t even begin to imagine what you can do once you get the hang of your powers.” Cade continued, not bothering to hide his enthusiasm. Cade turned to the stranger who had helped them escape the dragon, and being so overcome with joy at not being slaughtered by an undead dragon, gave the stranger an enormous bear hug as well.

“And you, Sakura, thank you. Our fate would’ve been much bleaker without you.” He said before releasing the stranger. “It is truly wonderful to meet you. Anyone brave enough to face a dragon to help strangers is without a doubt, exceptional company.” He added, his voice a bit calmer now, but still wearing a huge grin.

Bowyn walked with Torvi, following the bird as he led the way, until Boreas again landed on his shoulder indicating that they were near the spot where Torvi’s sister lay in rest. There was an unnerving chill in the air, Bowyn felt it, and based on the way Boreas shifted his weight on his shoulder, he knew the bird felt it as well. Something here was wrong, and it wasn’t just the body that lie ahead of them, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end and his instincts told him he should run. Torvi pointed out a figure moving in the distance and his first thought was another had found the body and intended to turn it in for the reward. Then, as they got closer, he saw the body of Torvi’s sister began to rise. Boreas chattered and squeezed his talons into Bowyn shoulder. He wondered if his feathered companion was feeling the same overwhelming sense of dread and although his body screamed for him to run, he continued forward. Something was drawing him closer and against his better judgement he listened, dropping his possessions to the ground, continuing forward until he got a better look at the mysterious figure.

Bowyn’s blood ran cold as he stared at the ghastly image before him; the figure that had raised Torvi’s sister. Although she looked nothing like how he remembered, he recognized her instantly. Her eyes were glassy and glazed over, devoid of the spark they always contained in life. Parts of her skin, had rotted away, while other patches had the blue and frozen look of one succumbing to frostbite, and other parts simply had the paleness of corpse. She wore the same clothing she had on the day she died, though now it was torn, dirty, and stained with old blood. For years he’d dreamt that he’d see her face again, but not like this and tears blurred his vision as he looked upon the long-lost woman he loved.

“Aeryn.” He whispered, his voice cracking as he spoke her name. Her head tilted to the side as she turned to look at him. As difficult as it was, he did not turn away. Bowyn blinked through his tears just to look at the woman he’d lost for a few more seconds. This was his fault; he had left her and now the lich controlled her.

“Bowyn.” She answered back startling him. Her voice was unrecognizable, coarse and raspy from lack of use. A grim realization hit him as he saw a faint glimmer of the real Aeryn in her dead eyes. He felt something inside him break as he understood the full extent of Aeryn’s fate. Trapped in a corpse, forced to serve the lich, and having to watch, an unwilling participant, in every awful thing her corpse was forced to do.

“We must leave, Bowyn, now.” Boreas pleaded, digging his talons deeper into Bowyn’s shoulder hoping to snap him out of his daze. “She is gone.”

“No,” He whispered shaking his head. “I can’t leave her again.” He said taking a shaky step towards the undead fairy. “Part of her is still in there.” The foolish part of him clung to desperate idea that somehow this meant she could be brought back. The elves and fairy’s all had such great magic that maybe there was a way, if part of her was still in there, didn’t he owe it to her to try? He was distracted enough that he had missed the subtle movements of her hands as she drew moisture from the air and formed it into knives made of ice.

“Get out of here.” The voice that was barely Aeryn’s warned just before she threw an ice knife at him. He threw himself to the ground just in time to miss the knife and then his wings flapped hard pulling him off the ground and kept him hovering above the ground. He quickly used his magic to bind the moisture in the air into a small shield of ice he held in his left hand. He positioned himself between Aeryn and Torvi, blocking the throw of the second knife with his shield. Boreas, who had flown from Bowyn as the fairy threw himself to the ground, swooped at the reanimated corpse of Torvi’s sister keeping her distracted for a bit, knowing that his friend would focus on nothing but Aeryn now.

“Aeryn, please, don’t do this.” Bowyn shouted desperately. But this was not the Aeryn he knew, but rather a twisted and corrupted version of her. In his mind it was clear now what he needed to do; he would have to kill Aeryn to end her suffering, but his stomach churned at the thought of it and he knew his heart was not ready for such a task.

“Torvi, run, get out of here!” He cried out, half demanding and half pleading. He didn’t want what was left of Aeryn's spirit to watch as she killed another person, nor did he want it to be Torvi who would kill Aeryn. Bowyn felt that he had to be the one to put Aeryn to rest; this was his failure to correct, he was the one who had left her to this fate, and most importantly, he wanted the last face she saw to be that of someone who loved her. This was one fight he knew he could not run from.

Baraian Paladice

"A haven and it's people. But if you do not go and have a look, you would never know would you? It is not me who you should place your trust in, it is your own gut feeling. What is it telling you? I can tell you that there won't be any enemies of yours there, yet would you take my words for it? Your enemies are elsewhere and they are looking. Better find allies, before the enemy finds you." Baraian said in a stern and cold manner, his head turning to look over his shoulder towards Belladonna.

"It's more about what you can do and show others, than what I can show to you. Some would deem humans a mythical creature, and that there is no hope of being liberated. The spark to lighten the flame, that's what a human means to them. Hope." The dark elf turned his head and proceeded to walk along the corridor.

"Bring the fallen, his death should not be wasted... that or look the starving people in the eye knowing what you could have prevented." He said in a grim tone of voice, his steps was firm however and his walk attentive to the nearby surroundings, glancing to the nearby windows as he passed them by. Once by the door, Baraian would slip out and in a slight tone, which the guards would be able to hear utter.

"There were a human hiding in there. I've taken care of it. Make no mention of it if you value your lives. Forgiveness is not something we dark elves are prone to be giving. I'll be taking these citizens for questioning."

The white clad dark elf gave a look to the two guards with a stern gaze, before beckoning to the others who were willing to follow him.

He waited and then began to make his way towards the poorer parts of the city, some thugs and street urchins catching eyes of him, most of the thugs dispersed and the street urchins stopped playing with their toy swords. The dark elf kept his steps firm, his face stern and his eyes searching the nearby alleyways as he passed them by. Until finally he came to a wooden door to a small house, he unlocked it and motioned for the others to get inside, before he jammed the key into the keyhole of the door, and locked it from the inside.

"We are going there. But we will have to wait until nightfall, to avoid anyone noticing and following us." The dark elf said, moving over to sit down by a chair in the one-room house. It had a wooden couch with some pillows, two beds with blankets which seemed to have been unused if not abit dusty. There were five more chairs in the room along with a circular table, on the table were a bowl with apples and in the corner of the room stood a barrel with water, including a tap on the side. A few mugs could be found in a shelf located in the same room.

"Eat. Drink. Rest. We are setting out as soon as darkness falls." He said as he leaned back against the chair, sighing out slightly.

[Then as darkness came]

"We are going to set out now. Follow and be quiet. Don't let anyone see you. I intent to come back to here for your fallen friend soon." He said in a softer tone, still as firm and direct as before as he began to beckon them out of the house, using a backdoor. Then travelling down a few alleys leading towards the city walls, and that's where it were. The old graveyard, which had not been in use for many, many years ever since the city had gotten really big. Most people were nowadays buried outside of the city walls in distinct graveyards, and far more numerous. In the city mostly nobles were buried, or people who lived in it a long time ago.

There were several mausoleums clearly visible, most of them were grand and finely decorated bearing noble house insignias. But it was not in front one of those which Baraian stopped, but in front of a rather weathertorn and old looking one. It wasn't as well decorated as the rest, the name of the person who were buried there had been long since been partly erased.

The dark elf pressed a stone at the side of the door of it, and it made a clicking sound as the door opened inwards. "Get in. Hurry." He said in a soft tone, waiting for all to get into the dark and quiet place before closing the door behind them, it was pitch black for a moment, then a light flickered as the sound of flint and steel could be heard, and a torch was lit. The dark elf had picked it from the nearby wall, the inside of the room now becoming more visible. He went over to the sarcophagus in the middle of the room, lifting off the old lock which was not made of stone, but rather of wood. Inside the sarcophagus were not a body at all, but a pair of stairs leading down towards the unknown.

"Take the torch. I will close this behind us." He said in a matter of fact manner of voice. The corridor leading down the stairs and further down was narrow, but you could slip by oneanother if one squeezed. Which the dark elf shortly after tried to do in order to take the torch himself and lead them down, further into that dark place.

Then finally upon reaching a turn they could see a faint dim light coming towards them, and then stepping into it a vast room greeted them, as large as the inside of a catherdral. Along the walls stood many tents and people were sleeping in bedrolls inside of them, or very close to them. Various cloth tapestries, barrels, chairs, tables and food were also present. And in the ceiling there were four distinct holes for air to travel through. Where those holes led, not even the dark elf knew. It did provide them with fresh air and that was the most important part.

"Welcome to Ra Monde, an old temple built by those who feared to hope, who desired change and died believing in it. The ones which build it is no longer here, but instead it now serves as the headquarters of Golden Death. We who will bring the lich his final end and set this world free once and for all. Make yourselves at home, but not too much. The arrival of humans will be the awakening we've all been waiting for. The time to take up the fight. But rest now, familiarize yourselves with the people in here. Know of their pain and suffering and what you can do to change that. In due time when you are ready, we will announce to them all that humans have indeed come to aid us. I will make arrangements so that you will have a tent, bedrolls, food and drink."

Baraian said in the same non-enthusiastic manner he had previously spoken with for the entire day and evening, his face and gaze still stern. He began to walk towards a larger tent in the distance of the huge room. Among the people at Ra Monde, some were old, some were young and others were middle-aged. A good mix of ages, but most whom were gathered were demi-humans, with the occasional elf.

Torvi was ready to rush at the woman who’d just raised her sister from death. Who’d just pulled her soul back from eternal rest. She also noticed that the fairy woman also looked like a corpse now and part of her felt saddened for whoever she had once been. It would be a kindness to put both of them to rest for good, but something made her pause. It was the whisper of a name from beside her and she turned to look at Bowyn. The pain on his face made Torvi realize that he knew this woman. More than just knew her, but she was important to cause that pain. This fact kept her from rushing at the woman.

It was the dead female fairy’s voice that shocked Torvi. She could speak? Could Siri speak? Could she actually understand anything she would say? Her eyes fell back on her sister and her heart ached at the sight of her. She didn’t look as intelligent as the fairy woman. ”Siri?” She tried, watching for any reaction. None came and the disappointment she felt hurt. She wished she could speak with her sister once more, even if it were just to hear her voice.

She closed her eyes for a brief second as she tried to get ahold of herself, rage beginning to fill her once more. She had a strong desire to avenge her sister, to kill the ones who even made raising the dead a possibility. It was the sound of the woman’s voice and Bowyn dropping to the ground that caused her eyes to open once more. She saw the woman forming knives out of ice and then she watched as Bowyn quickly got himself up. Boreas had also gone to distract her sister. Everything seemed to be happening rather quickly and before she knew it Bowyn was in front of her, telling her to run. This just fueled her more and she gripped her axe even tighter.

”No, I’m not leaving you behind Bowyn. We fight them together or we flee together, I won’t accept anything else.” She informed him as her sights were locked on Siri. She didn’t want to fight her sister, but she knew she had to put her to rest once more. She watched as her sister’s corpse swatted at Boreas with one hand, but the other hand was pulling out her own hand axe. She watched as Siri swiftly went to swipe at Boreas with the axe and she felt the need to protect the merlin.

”Siri, stop!” She shouted and the earth seemed to rumble along with her before a small column of earth shot up, grasping the wrist of Siri before yanking her back down to the ground. Torvi stared in shock at what had just happened and Siri let out a chilling, loud shriek as her attention turned back to Torvi. Adrenaline was rushing through Torvi and her senses seemed to be heightened, perhaps overly heightened. She could feel the vibrations in the earth and she could almost see in a way. Not far from them, somewhere behind them she could feel the running foot beats of an animal chasing another smaller animal. Perhaps a fox chasing a rabbit? She tried to focus on the sensation, feeling out further ahead of them. What she felt there scared her and she quickly lost control over the sensation. She tried to reach out again, but nothing happened. She gave up and focused on what was happening in front of her. Siri was still trying to get her arm free, shrieking still and Torvi decided she was distracted enough for the moment.

”Bowyn something is wrong, they aren’t the only two out here. There’s more, a LOT more. I’m so sorry, but I think we may need to go.” She warned him, genuine concern in her eyes as she hoped he would heed her words. She had a feeling he was rather distracted by the woman, however, and she briefly glanced to Boreas for some help.

Ayita, Cade and Sakura ran for a good time. Due to the adrenaline and her giving everything her body had in order to run away from the monstrous skeleton dragon. At first, Ayita felt fear. Even though the fire was mostly gone with only the smell of smoke and burnt trees remaining, it was still vivid in her mind. It was the same as when her village was burned to the ground... Then, it was anger. Just like there were those responsible for burning her village, there was someone responsible for sending that undead dragon after them... Aklenroth. He was just like the ones back in her world... He wanted her and the other humans dead and the fire created by the undead dragon was just the catalyst she needed to turn her fear into anger and focus it into Aklenroth. With nothing but the will to survive and anger in her mind, Ayita didn't realize that she was using magic for the entire duration. Trees passed through her as nothing more but a blur. Focusing only on the path ahead of her, the world around her was just an indistinguishable blur. Everything that was either besides her or behind her didn't matter. The only thing that did was the path that she had right in front of her.

After finally stopping running, it took a little while for Ayita to calm herself down and be able to hear and understand those around her. The stranger who had helped them, using some sort of magic, suggested for them to rest. Indeed, both her mind and her body were in need of a little rest. Still in a daze and recovering herself, Ayita was only able to hear parts of what the woman said. Fortunately, she did hear her name. She was called Sakura.

"Ayita... Thanks for the help." she said, still with her muscles painfully tense, enough for Cade and Sakura to be able to see a few veins on her legs and thighs.

"Did I...?" Ayita asked, after she heard Cade saying that she had used wind magic with an excited voice.

"Sorry I... There was the fire, the undead dragon and... I'm sorry. My mind was just in another place." she said, giving a deep breath before recovering her composure.

"Wind magic... I'm just as surprised as you are, Cade... I felt something strange as I started running. It is hard to describe... My steps got lighter and it became much easier to run. How can I say... It was a primal feeling, almost like an instinct. I still need to train and get used to this new power as I have no idea on what can I do with it yet... But I'm sure that this will help us to fight against Aklenroth." Ayita said, looking to herself, just as surprised as Cade was.

Truth be told, she was happy. Even though her head was filled with many other thoughts and feelings, she wanted to feel how it was to use her magic again, to run as fast as she did. Deep down inside, she felt different. Not different as in 'powerful', but a strange connection to the wind. To feel it embracing her, hear it's whispers and run with it. It was an exhilarating feeling she never experienced before.

"Sorry, right, introductions. I'm Ayita Ani' Wa'Ya. Thanks for your help back there, Sakura. Just as Cade said, we probably wouldn't be here if you didn't help us. Anyone who had the courage to help complete strangers, against an undead dragon nonetheless, surely is a welcome company. If you wish, that is." Ayita said, with a discreet nod of her head, once again thanking Sakura for her help.

Belle watched the incident play out between the masked half-human and the "Dark Elf" as he claimed. She was listening intently for traces of deceit but didn't find any. She sighed as they began to dwindle down and end up coming to a compromise. Belle sighed in relief and loosened the grip on her knives. Finally, the "Dark Elf" addressed her, though his words were more of a puzzle to this mysterious land of nonsense. She brought hope to them? She forced herself not to snort in laughter. They didn't know anything about her; nor what she had already gone through in her young life. Did they think that she'd just be willing to bend over backwards and fight for them? Were these creatures serious? She kept her expression emotionless, though she nodded pleasantly and offered a sweet smile.

Unfortunately, they were not allowed to stay, much to her dismay. The fountain waters were soothing her and she could feel the water splashing despite being down the hall. As her irritation grew, she heard the water begin splashing harder. As Belle watched them, she discovered her options were to stay or follow and hope she wasn't slaughtered as well. She gritted her teeth. Her mind was reeling, telling her not to go and to find a way home. God, she hated everything right now. She watched as water spilled out of the fountain and soaked the grass. Her eyebrows rose. Was the water some mysterious entity too? She sighed heavily and began to force herself to take slow deep breaths.

Belle listened to Mister Dark Elf speak to the guards and slipped out after him with her head down. She didn't look up as she followed them through the city and kept her hands gripped on her knives so tight that she thought she might lose circulation. Her mind screamed sat her and her body was as tense as ever. They reached their destination and she hesitantly followed inside. She found the hut contained food, water and rest areas. She scowled as her stomach rumbled and her mind told her to eat. How did she know they weren't poisoned? She examined them from her spot for any signs of foul-play. She glanced at these creatures thoughtfully and kept an impassive mask on. Outwardly, she looked calm and serene: inside, though her emotions were churning like a sailboat in a thunderstorm.

If they had wanted to kill her, they would have done it by now. And if they did want to kill her and these items were poisoned, she hoped it was a quick death. If not, she'd slit her throat and end it. She had no idea where she was, or if she'd would find her way home. Poor Lysandra was probably conducting the heaviest search party for her now. Belle's stomach churned at the thought as misery filled her. She began to eat her treasured peach, took some apples and water and then sat away from the creatures. She would be damned if she fell asleep now. Her eyes itched and a yawn escaped her but she ignored it.

The evening had not come soon enough. From a young age, Belle had enjoyed nightfall. It was serene and silent and it was something she craved during the daytime. She tried not to chuckle at his words. "Yeah, I'm going to start hooting and hollering and yell, "Come get your human, suckers!" She resisted the urge not to react and opted to diplomatically nod. She glanced around to gather her surroundings and discovered they were entering a graveyard. Excellent, she thought sarcastically, Home sweet home. After a short while, they came upon a weathered and torn up shelter. Belle watched quizzically as he dressed it and the door swung open. Her mind was screaming at her to flee. She gritted her teeth. So far the water and apples hadn't killed her, so perhaps there was hope, as the Dark Elf called it. He squeezed passed them to take the torch and she scowled when no-one was looking.

She sighed, relaxed her hands and her mind and followed them down the corridor until coming upon a large room. The scene before her surprised her. It was a rebel compound. Belle glanced around at the various furniture and then back at the Dark Elf. This seemed to be coming together now and she felt waves of exhaustion rising over her. She vaguely nodded to the Dark Elf, only half his words registering now as she awaited a tent, food and water. Her mind was numbing itself to her surroundings. She would kill for a cigarette right now. Belle sighed and sat down again with her head on top of her folded hands.

Time: Morning
Location: Woods
Interactions: Torvi @Tae

Bowyn grunted in annoyance at Torvi’s refusal to leave, having her around along with Boreas’s foolish decision to distract the undead minion pulled his attention away from Aeryn. The revenant that once was Torvi’s sister swung an axe at Boreas, and he realized the stupid bird was going to get himself killed. Although Boreas was just a merlin, and more than capable of making his own choices, he was a good and loyal companion and Bowyn did not want him to die like this. He heard Torvi shout and the ground trembled as an arm of earth sprang forward gripping the arm of the undead to stop the axe. It seemed that the elves had gotten it right after all; the human was certainly not defective. The tremble of the earth, and Torvi’s sudden display of magic had clearly caught Aeryn off guard. There was brief second, one in which time almost seemed to slow, as Aeryn regained balance from the earth tremor and her full attention rested on Torvi, in which Bowyn knew he could end this. In one swift motion he could grab the knife from his boot and throw it, and he was close enough that he would likely not miss. The thought of actively killing Aeryn though, rather than just bearing the weight of having made the choices that lead to her death, weighted down on him. Bowyn froze, unable to carry through with it, letting time catch back up with him.

As his moment passed Bowyn knew he’d failed again. He threw the ice shield at Aeryn’s hand before she could form more weapons, drawing her attention back onto him. He heard Torvi shouting that they needed to flee but he couldn’t just leave. If he stayed, he would likely die, and although he’d put his survival before just about anything else, he would always put Aeryn first. If he stayed, Torvi might stay as well, they would both die, and she had just saved Boreas. Torvi deserved better than to die for nothing. But to leave would be to leave Aeryn in this abhorrent state, even though he knew he could not kill her, he wasn’t sure he could leave her either. As his mind raced between the two terrible choices Boreas swooped down at him, talons scratching at the side of his face hitting his cheek. He stumbled backwards until his feet hit the ground, and Boreas continued to fly at him to keep him moving out of instinct alone.

“Bowyn move!” Boreas shouted with absolute authority. “Run!” For once, Bowyn did not argue with the bird. He allowed the merlin to choose for him, and he turned and ran. He ran in the direction Torvi chose, she seemed, somehow, to know there were more of the undead and so he followed as the human lead the way. The running did nothing to dull the intense swirl of emotions Bowyn tried desperately to bottle up. Eventually they had put enough distance between them and the undead that they had a second to rest. He knew he needed a moment to himself before he fully lost his mind and stated walking from Torvi, stopping for a second to hold up a finger to signal he just needed a minute. Boreas flew from Bowyn’s shoulder, where he had instinctively landed once they stopped, to Torvi’s shoulder. There he waited faithfully for his friend to return and rested his wings, staring with curiosity at the shiny things the human had adorned in her hair. The merlin did resist the urge to further investigate the glistening metal with his beak as he did not try to steal from those who had earned his respect.

It had been many years since Bowyn had felt so many things and with such intensity. The comforting numbness was completely stripped away and the grief and agony were raw open wounds again. His stomach twisted into a knot of nausea and he wretched violently, spitting bile into the ground. He felt cold tears trailing down his face and Bowyn was unable to control his emotions any longer. He wanted to curl up and die here in the forest but that would mean leaving Aeryn out there somewhere, her lifeless body serving Aklenroth. He’d gladly face a thousand deaths before he’d leave her like that. Aklenroth had no right to do these things; to force her body into doing evil for him, to taint her memory like this, to turn her into to everything she would’ve never become. He’d never liked Aklenroth, but he had always accepted that he was the king and that was the way things were. Now, Bowyn hated the lich with every part of his being, he wanted to rip the skeleton apart and shatter every bone that made him. Rage, unlike any he’d every felt, burned through him. Bowyn facing the nearest tree, unleased his rage through magic, freezing every ounce of water inside the tree and violently ripping it apart.

Bowyn felt some of the weight leave him. The thorough exhaustion of such a display of magic fueled only by rage had drained him enough to calm down. He closed his eyes and took several deep breaths of the cold air. He felt the pain and the rage dull, more akin to the constant hunger he felt as a child, but no longer all encompassing. He had not been ready to kill Aeryn, but he would get there, he would survive long enough to ensure she could rest peacefully, it was the only thing he could do for her now and he would find a way to do it. He wiped the tears, and the blood from the scratches Boreas had given him, from his face. He did not have the energy left to heal himself but they were shallow and would heal on their own, perhaps leaving him with some scars to make him look a bit more the warrior he doubted he could ever really be. With his composure regained some he returned to Boreas and Torvi.

“I, apologize for my outburst. Today has not been a good day. I guess we should keep heading south, the further we get from Daka the better.” He said his tone detached. He did not try to further explain the situation for fear that he would lose the composure he had just regained.

“Still friends foolish fairy?” Boreas said as he leapt from Torvi and glided back to Bowyn’s shoulder.

“Always, birdbrain” Bowyn said nodding at the bird as they pressed on, knowing his friends attach had been for his own good.
