Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Felbar and Grandia are at war.

The Kingdom of Felbar and the Empire of Grandia have long had poor relations, but they still regularly conducted diplomatic meetings and their leadership was content with a strained peace. Now, however, a new Imperial Regent was appointed to the throne of Grandia due to the Princess's young age, and things have begun to spiral out of control. It began with a small skirmish on the border between the two countries, but soon the conflict swelled. It would be difficult to place blame solely on one country or the other, but the Imperial Regent in particular has been adamant about taking full control of their borders. The allies of either country have been watching with baited breath. They know they may be called upon at any time to join in the battle, but in spite of the state of warfare between the two countries no war has been formally declared.

So far, it has been restricted to conflicts along the border. But every day brings a growing threat of battle swelling beyond and engulfing the entire world...

But for now, war machines and magi are funneled to the border, and every day brings with it growing tensions... And Grandia's Imperial Regent seems to be seeking something.

Will this world be plunged into war?

The day comes and goes as usual. You wake up, go to school(or work, or a shop to get a snack) and go home. It's not as if it's bad, but sometimes it feels a little monotonous. You could be anyone. An office worker. A NEET. A student at the local high school. It doesn't matter who you are. All that matters is what happens when you're on your way home. You could be just a few steps from the door. You could be blocks away. But regardless of where or who you are, you suddenly notice something feels strange. You're lightheaded, your vision blurring, and it almost seems as if the entire world around you is flickering in and out of existence.

You shut your eyes, perhaps to try and clear your vision, or perhaps to try and shut out blurry, flickering world around you. But when you open your eyes, you find yourself... somewhere else.

A cobblestone street. Buildings fitting an almost Victorian, European aesthetic. Streets bustling with people of all types, wearing old-fashioned clothing. You even see a carriage roll by, though it isn't pulled by any horses, but rather seemingly powered by a spinning orb of light.

The more you look, the more surreal it becomes. People with the ears and tails of animals. People with horns. While regular humans are by far the majority, your eyes are not deceiving you. A man walks by typing on what appears to be a keyboard made of light floating above his palm.

And then when you look down at yourself...

... Well, you might not be recognizably yourself any longer.

This is an entirely different world. You might be an entirely different person in it.

A world at the brink of an all-consuming war...

So, this is my attempt at an isekai genre RP! I'll lay out a few ground rules before getting to setting details and bio skeletons:

  • You may play as either a character from "our world" or a character native to this world.
  • I will permit a total of four characters from "our world". I will place no limit on native characters.
  • Characters from "our world" have either been transformed or reincarnated into new forms(I will be deliberately unclear about which). These new bodies may have resemblance to their original forms, or be totally different.
  • I'd like to avoid any characters from "our world" starting out with too much. That is to say, you shouldn't have any amazing powers and equipment from the get-go.

The RP's setting is a parallel world much like our own during the same time period as WWI. However, there are many substantial differences between them. Technology is much more advanced, allowing for the creation of massive walking suits of armor, tanks, and various other kinds of machinery that did not exist in our world. Additionally, there are advanced prosthetics. A reason why technology is far more advanced is due to the existence of magic. Almost everyone has some level of mana, due to the existence of a mana core in all living beings. However, those who have useable amounts of mana are somewhat more rare.

Some important places, beings, and concepts:
  • Magic: All feats accomplished by use of the internal energy known as mana is called magic. Invoked most frequently using spells, often hand gestures or specific words or chants, magic can be used for a variety of different purposes. Different people have affinities for different forms of magic, but that does not mean that they can only perform that type of magic. Extremely strong magi may also perform magical feats without any words at all, to the point where it may unconsciously cause affects around them. All living things are possessed of a mana core, the source of their mana. Mana also exists ambiently in the environment and can be used in the construction of altered machines.
  • Altered Machines: Any technology that uses magic in its creation is known as an Altered Machine. Altered machines include various different weapons, radios, televisions, moving carriages, Greatarmor, airships, robotic servants, and many more different devices.
  • Greatarmor: Massive, moving suits of armor controlled by a single pilot. Often around six to nine meters tall, they can be armed with numerous different weapons, such as gatling guns, antitank swords, ballistic hammers, rocket propelled grenades, and various other weapons. Considered to be a counter to most tanks, and difficult targets for any on-foot forces.
  • Felbar: A country to the west coast of the continent of Eopia, a monarchy ruled by the Talvien family. Known for excellent cuisine and a beautiful countryside, Felbar also possesses a large number of places of education. Due to numerous past conflicts, there is long-standing tension between Felbar and its neighbor, Grandia. However, until recently there was a seemingly permanent state of somewhat strained peace.
  • Grandia: A militaristic empire with distant ties to past glory, once again rising in strength. It, too, is known for a rather lovely countryside, as well as good food, but these are outshone by its strong military shows of force and national pride. Due to numerous past conflicts, there is long-standing tension between Grandia and its neighbor, Felbar. However, until the newest Imperial Regent was appointed there was a seemingly permanent state of somewhat strained peace.

Races:
  • Humans: The most common race in Felbar and Grandia. There's not much to speak of in terms of differences between the humans of "our world" and those native to this one. However, it can be said that humans tend to be middling in terms of magical capabilities, though the standout examples of human magi can hardly be ignored and there are some who are highly magically proficient.
  • Alves: Pointed ears, graceful bodies, and high magical potential. Anyone from "our world" would recognize Alves as Elves, but it seems that they're known by a different name in this world. The sight of an Alv is somewhat uncommon in Felbar and Grandia, but it is said they are more common in the Kingdom across the channel and in some nations further east. Some criminals may attempt to traffic young Alves, a crime law enforcement is always vigilant for.
  • Beastkin: A blanket term for a variety of races with animalistic features. Commonly exhibitin the ears and tails of some animal or another, Beastkin are many different races with a vague tie to one another. They share traits, mostly appearing human aside from their animalistic features, but their capabilities vary depending on the animal traits they exhibit. Certain races of Beastkin are far more common in the distant eastern country of Yashima, but not unheard of on Eopia.
  • Dehmel: Dehmel resemble horned humans. Often very strong, a Dehmel is very easily recognizable for a few different reasons. The men are tall and often very muscular, and the women are short and often regarded as quite beautiful. However, both are incredibly strong, an inherent trait of Dehmel being incredible strength. Dehmel magi are rare, but not unheard of.
  • Automata: Technically not a race, but a creation of humans. Automata are various robotic beings created using a combination of magic and clockwork. The playable version is nearly identical to humans from the outside, often commissioned for servants by rich families... or something more dangerous. You can't be reincarnated into one, though.

@Polaris North: No war has formally been declared, so merchants aren't being prevented from travelling yet.
Also forgot to mention but there's a lot of spying and other forms of espionage going on between both countries(and not restricted to them, either) so if anyone wants another good basis for a native character there's one as well.

Also lots of interest really fast! ^_^

OOC won't be much longer.
@Polaris North: Your characters do not have to be from the same country, though for those interested in playing characters from "our world" I'd recommend they are.
Yes.
Mordred

The sound that came from the blonde girl could only be described as a growl as, briefly no longer caring about her mana situation, Mordred rounded on Andersen. That little son of a bitch had... had... she was so mad she almost couldn't decide how she wanted to punish him. Somehow just punching him seemed too easy, too simple, he needed something much more painful. Perhaps... Yes, glaring and reaching towards her fellow Servant. This was a matter that needed to be dealt with before she reacted to the fact that the

Mordred suddenly froze when she felt that vampire woman's lips meet her own. In that instant, her anger burned out and was replaced with a rush of embarrassment as she took a step back, cheeks flushing. No, no, whatever... if that was part of the contract then... then...

"Hahaha I've kissed plenty of girls before!" Mordred suddenly blurted out, her cheeks burning red. This obviously wasn't a lie. It totally was the absolute truth, there was no question of it. It's not like the Red Knight would ever make anything up in order to try and make herself sound more impressive in some regard, now, was it? Well, she didn't do so often, but when it came to certain matters it was difficult to say she wouldn't sometimes make some exaggerated claims, to say the least.

Her mind switched gears again, however, when she suddenly felt so... strong. Indeed, the kiss had been part of the contract. It definitely wasn't what she was used to, but it couldn't be denied that this woman was a high-level magi of some kind... as well as a vampire. Mordred narrowed her eyes somewhat warily. Why was a vampire offering them help so easily, huh? But she'd already accepted it. Mordred disliked how much she needed it, really, but she wouldn't let her true Master down. This was all to return to her.

And then, in another show of magical prowess, their temporary Master promptly laid waste to a copse of trees. Mordred was immediately on guard, red flashes signifying that she had summoned her armor and sword, gripping Clarent down and at her side as she stood ready... and stared in muted shock as the vampire woman melted into a little girl. Not just any little girl, an extremely small and frail-looking one.

Of course, she'd seen child Servants before(their Master absolutely treasured Nursery Rhyme and Jack, doting on the two of them as much as possible, and that was only two of them) so it wasn't as if she was unused to powerful children. But that didn't make this course of events any less surreal.

"... The hell?"

Well, Mordred's going to have an interesting time reacting to all of this.
I'm kind of stuck trying to think of something for Arturia to do that's not like, one or two sentences of thinking they should go with the old man. ^^;
