Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.
I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Estelle Varianbec, Master of Rider

Good, she didn't have to waste her breath on telling her Servant that he couldn't use his chariot during the day. As fun as that had been, Estelle was quite certain it'd be impossible to hide something like that no matter how strong the magecraft you used to conceal it was. And so, dismissing her maids, the tiny, tan-skinned magus led Rider into town. It was a typical day in Redrock, there wasn't even the smallest sign of the conflict that had occurred the previous night. People were going about their business just as usual, talking on phones, with friends or family, hurrying to do work... it was an average day in an average town. Certainly, if any of them learned they were in the presence of a legendary hero, this calm mood would shatter. But it didn't. No-one knew who Rider was. It was almost surreal.

At least, it would have been if Estelle had been paying attention to that matter. But she was far more focused on her goal. That goal being...

Hickory's Sweets and Ice Cream Parlor.

No matter how much pride she had in herself as a magus, Estelle's adoration of the Sweets shop never failed to get her attention, never once did she pass up a chance to make a visit there.

And indeed, there it was up ahead! Aaah, the old-fashioned script, the building had such a nice and homey atmosphere... and inside were so many sweet delights of all kinds!

Felbar and Grandia were at war.

Though, perhaps, you could not have guessed at that fact at the moment. Indeed, in spite of its proximity to the border, the town of Saint Fleur was bustling along at its own, usual pace. A large town, just falling short of being considered a city, business here was just as usual. Certainly, it was growing somewhat sleepier now given it was reaching late evening, but you couldn't have expected just by looking at it that this was a town so close to potential location of intense battle.

The setting sun was painting the cobblestones, and those who walked along them, with an orange glow. Several shops were closing up, the one that was notably still open with no intention of closing down just yet was a purveyor of various trinkets, hybrids of technology and magic that performed rather simple but interesting functions such as light-gathering mirrors or pens that write by themselves. Some people were still going about their jobs, while others were packing up to go home. Several food stands in the center of town, around the statue of 'our Lady' Saint Fleur(the town's namesake, naturally), were closing up for the night, while a nearby restaurant remained open and quite busy, many customers sitting outside in the comfortable temperature of a summer evening.

Just outside town, however, was a reminder of the growing hostilities. The Felbar Royal Army had constructed a base, tents bearing Felbar's colors of blue, white, and gold dotting the landscape in great numbers, and even six sets of greatarmor and several tanks. It was clear that the conflict was intensifying given such a large camp and been assembled so close by. But within the town, you never would have guessed at that fact.

Of course, there were other reasons for the residents of Saint Fleur to be excited.

The girl had declared that she was tired of being cooped up in autonomous carriages and the high-class room reserved for visting members of the royal family.

And so, Princess Vivienne Felvarre Croix was insistent that they take a walk around town. Not simply to bask in attention given by the townsfolk(they'd likely not seen one of the Princesses before, not in real life), but also to experience the town first hand. She had never been outside the capital before, after all! Saint Fleur was smaller, even if it was a quite large town, and it was somewhere she'd been determined to go. Indeed, her stubborn insistence was likely the only reason that she had been allowed to go, along with the nearby military presence, entourage of maids(and her trusted butler), and body guards following her at essentially all times. Vivienne was really rather proud of the crowd she had drawn, but she also wanted a chance to check out all the local shops and meet people on their own, too. That was kind of difficult when she had a full crowd of people following her at all times, now, wasn't it?

"Mister Silverwood!" she declared, "I want to visit some of the shops."

Vivienne's butler seemed to usually know how to handle these matters, so naturally she would as him.

Not everything, however, was bright and cheerful, even at the best of times. And certainly not in the time of a growing war.

The lithe, small figure that now cut across rooftops and through back allies had a singular purpose. There were reports of a spy. A Grandian spy was lurking somewhere in Saint Fleur. The entire purpose of her presence in this town, so close to the border, was specifically to hunt people like that. To kill them, no matter what it required. Yashima's alliance with Felbar guaranteed their aid, even in such small ways as this. They could not lend military aid... so instead they lent one of their assassins.

Fujioka Chisame's geta made not a single sound as they hit the cobblestone. She'd silenced her every movement, not a single soul, except perhaps those who excelled at piercing illusions, would be able to hear her. Of course, they could see her... but she would not be an assassin worth her salt if she had not accounted for that possibility. It was important that everyone saw her as strictly her lady's bodyguard and servant. While certainly she filled that role, that was hardly the only purpose she fulfilled. The suspected spy's movements likely should have brought them to... somewhere around here. One of the oldest buildings in town. Empty, at the moment... or so it should have been.

The Yashiman girl quietly edged forwards, reaching into her kimono to withdraw one of her Altered Machines. Her eyeglass. Raising it to her right eye, she began her observation, the device's properties allowing it to pierce these walls as if they were nothing. If someone was here, she would find them.

On the Grandian side of the border, things were somewhat different.

As close as they could manage, the Grandian Imperial army had assembled their own camp, their own greatarmor units. It was even rumored that a certain... particularly powerful soldier would arrive if a battle began, among the soldiers of Grandia.

The atmosphere was tense, as it always was. Battle could begin at any moment.

And yet...

The sensation that some, those who lived in another world altogether, felt at that moment was something like being lifted. Like they were suddenly being drawn up and away, suddenly torn from their lives to drift aimlessly. Was there a woman's voice? No, it was hard to tell what the sounds around them were. But suddenly the air around them streamed with colors. Suddenly their bodies felt lighter. Or heavier? It was hard to tell. It was like something was being altered. Something about each of them was changing in some way. And then... everything went black.

When each of them came to, their world, perhaps even their bodies, had changed.

But they all had memories. Memories of this new world, of being... someone else. In addition to their memories of their original selves, they had all been given a new life. In a new world.

A world at the brink of an all-consuming war.

"Wh-who does he think he is!?" declared the flustered Estelle, folding her arms with a huff as her maids busied themselves with drying her off. Well, she knew who he thought he was, to be fair... And in life he'd probably never been angrily yelled out of an intrusion into a bath before. For all she knew he could have been welcomed. But that was certainly not the case here. She'd summoned such a high-powered Servant, and yet he seemed like he was ready to find all new ways to make things embarrassing! Estelle huffed again as her maids dried her hair. As they brought her the clothing she had picked out that morning, she swiftly picked a white-and-pink dress with a bow on the neck and a ribbon tied around the waist, with a pair of knee-high socks. Diligently, her homunculus maids swiftly dressed her, and moments later the small, tan-skinned girl left the bath, her maids having dressed themselves so that they could follow her.

Blushing as she approached Rider, the memory of the way he'd so carelessly hoisted her naked out of the bath naturally still fresh in her mind, she stopped just in front of her Servant. Estelle's cheeks were flushed as her eyes drifted to the side and away from the legendary hero.

"I'm still mad at you about earlier, so don't think I've forgiven you just because of this, Rider!" she began, prefacing her following statement with a disclaimer just to ensure that nothing was simply washed away. "But..."

She averted her eyes again, still flushed.

"... That... was a good idea. Going out on the town can give you a chance to get used to Redrock, too. Better then just giving you a map or something like that."

Besides, Estelle was itching to go to her favorite candy shop and ice cream parlor again.

  • Name: Vivienne Felvarre Croix
  • Age: 13
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: "It's not foolish. Hmph."
  • Personality: Vivienne is a very headstrong, stubborn girl. Once she has her mind set on something, it is very difficult to dissuade her no matter what the matter is. Additionally, she is extremely self-confident and has something of an arrogance to her, a belief that if she can do it, she will do it no matter what gets in her way. Of course, this attitude might be somewhat... troublesome for those around her. For example, Vivienne firmly believes that, because the to-be Empress of the Grandian Empire is a young girl of the same age as herself, she would be able to talk to her and end the war just like that. It's what she desires do do, even, though obviously she has not been allowed to. Vivienne also claims that even though she seems small and frail now, she will obviously grow up to be mature in every sense of the word, citing her older sister as a reason for this. In spite of her demanding and stubborn attitude, deep down Vivienne does truly care about the people of Felbar, and her desire to talk to the future Grandian Empress is born not entirely about of confidence and a stubborn attitude but because she legitimately wants to prevent the war from becoming worse. The young girl looks up to her elder sister a great deal, as well.
  • Brief Backstory: When Vivienne was born, she was very weak and sickly. As a result, she was often left inside and pampered a great deal, even as she began to grow more healthy and strong after frequent visits from the royal physician. Her weakness lasted until she was around eight years old, but had a lingering effect on her body, rendering her physically frail and small even as she entered her early teens. Her childhood of pampering and isolation, on top of being a daughter of the royal family, have certainly contributed to her stubborn, somewhat spoiled, and incredibly arrogant attitude. She was quite demanding about proceeding to a town near the border, insisting that she wanted to see how people were dealing with the possibility of battle not too distant from their homes. Eventually she was granted this chance, with a heavy escort and her whole compliment of employees, including her most loyal maids and her loyal butler.... However, something seems to have changed when it comes to her butler...
  • Abilities: Vivienne has a fairly high potential for magic, a common trait in the Croix line of the royal family. However, she is not suited for direct combat and instead has been taught several summoning and contracting spells, including one that allows her to call fairies to her location to serve her. She can also summon a flock of maids and her butler, but that's less magic and more having a bunch of maids and a butler.
  • Skills: Compared to her elder sister, Vivienne is quite lacking in many departments in terms of skills. However, she is actually an excellent artist, especially given her relatively young age.
  • Equipment: Vivienne carries a sketchpad with her rather frequently.

There are some things that not even a high-class magus can ever prepare for.

These things include your Servant bursting through the door to the baths, charging up to you, hoisting you out of the baths by lifting you under your armpits, and practically shouting into your face.

To say Estelle was stunned was an understatement. She had practically frozen up in pure shock, cheeks filling with red from embarrassment. Her maids, too, either sunk into the water or covered their bodies in a bid to hide themselves in some fashion. For a few moments, the girl simply hung their limply in Rider's hands, her own small hands trembling weakly as her eyes remained wide open. Even as her bare feet were placed on the tiles with a soft padding sound, she remained rigid and blushing with more and more intensity for several moments... Until she managed to find her voice.

"WH-WH-WHAT WERE YOU TH-THINKING, RIDER?!" she sputtered, immediately throwing her hands across her tiny body in a bid to hide anything(not that Rider hadn't already seen it given his... explosive entry into the room). "G-G-Get out! G-Get out! GET OUT!"

If Estelle had been thinking about Rider's proposal, she likely would have decided a day out in town sounded like a good idea. It would give her a chance to reassert her confidence to her Servant(and also purchase a large amount of candy). However, it cannot be said that this was the case. No, instead, the tiny tan-skinned girl's mind was entirely focused on an absolute panic about why her Servant elected to burst into the baths and pick her up under her armpits to make this proposal in the first place.

And some point, a pair of her maids had wrapped Estelle in a towel. But the girl was far too embarrassed to realize this hand even happened.

@Blackstripe
To add a bit of an update to that:

Start date is for sure tomorrow!
I'll kick off the RP in the next few days!
@Queen Tomato&@Rosette Christopher: Okay, um...

There's one thing I'm confused about with both of them and that's the whole thing with the islands and agelessness and stuff. ^^;

But for more specific details, um... Alves aren't totally isolated, so I'm assuming this would just be a specific group of them? Also I'll note that Alv trafficking is really illegal so massive abduction parties are unlikely if they want to remain hidden.

Otherwise... Isi seems pretty much fine? But I think Enna's abilityset is a biiit overly broad. ^^; She should be more focused.
