Sasha

The island seemed to both want them there and not want them there. Sasha let her gaze wander over the shore, seeking anything that could be a danger to them. Yet the island itself could be a danger, if it believed them to be dangerous to it. There were many things that she knew that could be hiding and yet… things didn’t seem to be particularly volatile to them. She decided to take that as a bonus, although she wasn’t about to let her guard down.

As Ferrin approached, Sasha didn’t respond as she climbed out the boat. The island seemed to be tensing, as if seeking a way out or perhaps seeking a way to contain something. She brought her gaze around, over the rest of their group before moving it to Ferrin, wondering just what he was feeling.

Suddenly, the very ground beneath their feet shook and Sasha found herself crouching, using her hands to help balance her as it seemed to take forever for the shaking to subside. It seemed to happen slowly and just when she thought it was over, a roar suddenly engulfed the air around them. The shocking sound was deafening, and seemed to go on forever, until one might think it was the only sound left in the world.

Without thinking, Sasha rose and almost instinctively, she let her ice queen armour form over her. With it came the increase in power, and instead of the sword that formed with it, it was a spear like lance instead, that seemed almost brittle but as her hand curled around it, she knew it was incredibly strong. Only as the sound started to fade away did Sasha once more turn to Ferrin. ”I do not think anyone can plan for this… I don’t know what we are to expect. But i think it’s safe to say, we ought not daly. I think we should stay together, but… if you have any ideas, I’d be open to them”

Penny

The tingling sensation was almost pleasant and Penny had to fight hard not to simply let flames spread across her body. It was getting harder and harder to control that, particularly when she did feel something strongly. The last two months had seen a difference in how she had to manage her powers, and there mere fact that she was still learning the different way of control them was perhaps a strong reason why she hadn’t wanted to go to the island.

Gently holding the pendant in her hands, Penny frowned over it. It was obvious that Jasmine had kept this from her, but she didn’t mind- it wasn’t like Penny had told Jasmine everything, yet. As the dragon began to speak with her, Penny listened to his words. As he mentioned Jasmine’s fair in her, Penny couldn’t help but feel that it was misplaced. What had she done to deserve jasmine’s faith? She had promised to help jasmine, and then disappeared for some time. She could understand Ariel’s response to her, but Jasmine? It didn’t seem like Penny could do anything to break the girls trust in her. What had she done, to inspire the girl so? While she was thankful, she couldn’t help but think of the inevitable time when Jasmine would realise that Penny was going to disappoint her.

She just couldn’t seem to help it. She’d hurt Ariel… she should have been there for her. Ariel had been there for her, and that was what had got her into the mess she was in right now with the Phoenix magic. She had essentially abandoned the other girl, even if she hadn’t meant to. But being near Ariel… it had been painful. That wasn’t Ariel’s fault, though. Penny didn’t know how to fix things there. She suspected that as long as Nolan was around Ariel, then Penny was going to have a hard time even trying to fix it. She had disappointed Damien… that hurt more than Ariel. She never wanted to disappoint him… but why couldn’t he understand?

Of course, he hadn’t been there. She hadn’t wanted him anywhere near her father’s death, even though she had sought him out. Had it just been a coincidence or fate that she had found Ariel instead that day? Well, it mattered not. She was heading to the island whether she willed it or not. It did not seem she had a choice. Which pissed her off to no end, but it was what it was. If she could help… well, she would just have to be careful. As if that was a choice. She shook her head, to try and clear it off those thoughts and turned her attention back to the dragon’s words- for who else would it be? Somehow, Jasmine had access to her dragon. Which went a long way to explaining why Jasmine had been talking to herself quite a bit on the journey back to Magnolia. Did the girl not know that she could probably talk to the dragon in her mind? Penny would have to mention that to her.

”Yes… I am Penny. We can converse with our thoughts, if that is okay.”

I am glad you approve… I’d rather not have a dragon’s disapproval. Jasmine is important to me. she responded, choosing to reply in her mind, at least for the moment. She wouldn’t put it past the little Rajah to take what she said to the dragon against herself, the angry exceed didn’t seem to need much to retaliate. She is stronger than she knows, and I will try to be worthy of her faith. Here was someone that knew her father, that might give her some insight into him, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask. It hurt too much, and she knew that it always would. The thought that this might be the only time she would get that insight wasn’t even enough to ask.

And then he asked how Solias was.

Penny flinched at the dragons words, closing her eyes a moment and letting out a shaky breath. He’s dead. unbidden, and not what Penny ever wanted to dwell on, came a flicker of the scene from Solias’s death. From her murder of him. She clasped the pendant tightly in her hand, for fear that she would otherwise drop it. I killed him. There was no point denying it. For who could kill a Phoenix, except a Phoenix Slayer? The images, the song, filled her mind and she knew that she would never escape them. She’d always remember the beautiful, daunting and horrible song of death. He… asked me too. but that didn’t matter. She had still killed him.

The feel of wetness on her cheeks let her know that tears had escaped. She reached up with her friend hand to dash them away, not wanting Jasmine or the exceeds to see. She wasn’t weak… was that a lie, was she fooling herself? I’m sorry…

Not sure how else she could explain, what else she could do, Penny fell silent and instead let the memories flow. Solias long ago asking her if she would come, when he needed her. He had been sick, for more than a few months. After thousands of years of living, the Phoenix had finally been near the end of his existence. She had promised, before she had gone off in search of Sasha. The note coming to her at the games, going to the cave with Ariel…. The song and what had happened in the cave that had been Solias’s home. Living the memories again were almost too painful, but Penny sought to keep control of herself.

I’m sorry…

Ignatius sighed heavily, although he was relieved. If Rajah was demanding food, then Rajah was okay. Of course he suspected that she would always demand food even if she was two seconds away from death. He didn’t know where she put all the food she ate- sometimes he thought it was almost twice her own weight, which wasn’t saying much.

He moved away for a moment or two before returning with some food, ”Try actually chewing the food for once, Rajah.”

Tenrou Island

@MarshiestMallow@Crimson Raven@t2wave (And whomever else can see Mayt)
Mayt was impressed as the boat he was helping row approached the island. Unlike the other members of his guild he didn't feel the turmoil, the destruction or the constant combat between the dark and the light magics. He instead felt the weight of the magic- an ocean, trying to drown him before he got to land. Before long his body was crying out in aches as he struggled against the unseen current, muscles working hard to slog through the molasses. His throat clogged and made it impossible to breath, his eyes lost focus, sweat beaded on his forehead just from the effort of turning his head to look around. Just as it reached an apex, so thick Mayt wouldn't have been surprised if he hit a wall, the air released its stranglehold on him. In hopes of relieving the pain of not breathing, Mayt took several deep breaths and grabbed his chest. The boat he was on reached shore before Mayt's breath had returned, and his shirt now had clear sweat lines.

Mayt climbed off the boat and stood on the shore, surveying his surroundings surely as much as they were surveying him. He could still feel the magic in the air. It wasn't as oppressive as it had been mere moments prior, fortunately. He made his way over to where Sasha had landed just as the shaking of the island began. He braced himself where he stood as well as he could, but ended up crouching much like Sasha had. Unlike her however, when the roar hit them he fell onto his side, sitting in the wet shore. He covered his ears and closed his eyes. The roar felt like an attack, the island shouting him down for daring to think he had earned the right to so much as look at it, much less set foot on its shores. When the roar finally subsided, it took Mayt another moment to believe it. Slowly, hesitantly, he stood up again and looked at Sasha. He felt embarrassed that she had stood up to the roar while he had shied away in cowardice. He fixed his clothes, brushed himself off and rested his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Well..." Mayt stopped and cleared his throat as his voice came out quiet, shaky, and tinny in the heavy air of the island. "Well, something isn't very happy," he observed dryly after taking a breath to clear his mind. Since Sasha seemed to know the most about what was going on, he gave her a sidelong glance before returning to scanning for any signs of trouble approaching.

Jasmine Lockwood and Rajah

@MarshiestMallow
While Ryujin couldn't see the frown form, between his link with Jasmine and the link he was now forming with Penny it wasn't hard to work out how the girl was feeling about this development. That, and he knew for a fact that Jasmine had failed to communicate with Penny about this issue.
"I do apologise for the young one's lack of...communication about my existence. She has yet to realise that only she could hear me for the most part. Hence why I asked her to hand you the pendant." His words were followed by a sigh. Jasmine was reasonably smart for the most part, but she was rather naive and ditzy at times. Quite often at times, and that coupled with her meek persona made for a frustrating combo. Luckily, Ryujin literally had all the time in the world. Being deceased had its perks.

“Of course child. I prefer it that way, to be honest, it’s something I am desperately trying to teach young Jasmine here as well...to no avail.” At Penny's suggestion of their conversation being relayed through telepathy, Ryujin had no qualms. It was how he would be ‘talking’ to her after all, and only Jasmine could butt in on them here as well. He shared Penny’s dislike for the potential little disruption that was Rajah. If he was alive….

“That is good to hear. Jasmine is important to me as well, young slayer, more so than even she understands. Without her, I am merely an old soul in a dusty lacrima with no connection to this timeline...however, she makes me ‘alive’ again. As much as a dead, ancient dragon like myself can be anyway!” The hearty laugh that followed was deep and raspy. Yes, he was far older than anything that was probably alive currently as of this moment. Though he was effectively cheating with his soul the only thing that remained of him in this world.

Though, her next words bought his laugh to an abrupt and unnatural end.

Dead?

Solias was….dead?

Ryujin had figured, out of everything he had known back in his prime, that the Phoenix would be the only thing with a chance of still fluttering about. But to find out that even his old friend had passed was….upsetting. For a moment, she was met with nothing but silence. The dragon needing the moment to come to terms with this.

He might’ve asked how, when or why. Those sort of natural questions one might ask. But for a start, he had a suspicion based on how the Phoenix Slayer before him acted. It was confirmed as well by not only her own words but her showing of memories of the incident. Once upon a time, he might’ve been angry about this development. I mean, a daughter killing her own father? Such a thought was dreadful to dwell on.

However, it was clear from these memories...his old friend had finally reached the end anyway. He went out on his own terms, unlike Ryujin himself, so instead there was a pang of jealousy. It was typical of that Firebird. He always got things to work out somehow.

“That is...a shame.” He finally broke his silence, in a sombre tone. He had hoped to see his friend one more time, but alas it wasn’t to be. His last memory of him will always be that of the young and proud flames he produced, of their exploits together…

How fitting it was, that their legacies had once again met on the same path even after so many centuries. Though Jasmine seemed nothing like the arrogant, proud hatchling he was at his respective age. Penny was very much like Solias however, quite much so in fact. Maybe the term ‘daughter’ was more….accurate than one first thought. The memories he had seen had certainly hinted towards that conclusion.

“That silly old bird. What kind of father makes their child cry? He always was a selfish idealist. Even now I still don’t understand him truly.” A large form began to take shape in Penny’s mind, shaking it’s humongous shadowy head. “Do not apologise for following his request young one. It doesn’t matter if one is a phoenix, human or even a dragon. They all must reach their end someday...just some sooner or later than others. Your father was one of the few lucky ones who not only got to choose the time and place, but also the method to let his flame be extinguished.”

He was certainly jealous of the phoenix in that regard. As well as his way with words and bing able to comfort those around him. He didn’t quite have that same skill, but he would try nonetheless. For his friends sake.

By now, he had fully materialised in her mind and pointed a talon, which was larger than Penny such was the immense size of the ancient dragon, towards the Fire mage. “But death isn’t the end. For with his dying embers, he lit a new flame. You my dear. Grieve and mourn as much as you desire, but do remember that he chose this. Unfortunately, it means you must live with his selfish actions consequences, but he wouldn’t have asked if he didn’t think you couldn’t handle the burden.”

All the while, Penny needn’t have worried about holding back the tears at least in the case of Jasmine seeing them. She couldn’t see them through the tears that welled up of her own. She had heard everything. Seen everything.

Ryujin, in the emotion of the moment, had forgotten his link with his slayer. What he saw, she saw. What he felt, she felt. For without this connection, he was simply nothing but a spirit as he said. He needn’t any tools to communicate with her like he did with others. It doesn’t mean he couldn’t have stopped Jasmine from seeing what unfolded in his conversation with Penny, but he hadn’t thought to stop her from seeing either.

At first, Jasmine had turned bright red and buried her face into her hands as they spoke of her with such praise. She really didn’t deserve it, she wasn’t strong. Not at all, despite what Penny thought. And the embarrassment of having realised she was the only one who could have heard Ryujin this entire time...she wanted to curl up and disappear. She would have to apologise to Penny for that later.

Then when she heard the exchange about Penny’s father...her mind came to a grinding halt. That was shortly before she had met her hadn’t it? Penny had been dealing with that, while also dealing with her own problems that she had selfishly dumped on the S-class wizard? Jasmine knew she was a burden….but this took the cake.

Guilt, shame and embarrassment swirled around like a cocktail of negativity inside her. Jasmine was unsure which was the stronger emotion at this point. Not that it mattered much, for she knew she couldn’t mope around. She had done enough of that the last couple of months. Ryujin was right, her guild-no, her family needed her. And with whatever little strength she had, she would give it. She owed them, Penny, mostly, too much to turn tail and run. And now that she had reawakened her magic she might actually become more useful…

Maybe.

Hopefully. One could only hope at the very least.

Time was of the essence here. She needed to make sure that Penny was aware of her decision. But...she couldn’t find it in her to speak. Instead, she stepped forward, tears and embraced Penny out of the blue. Hiding her face in the older girl’s shoulder, though she was still visibly shaking from the tears she barely held back. She really needed to learn to stop crying so much.

“I-I’m sorry Penny! You...you went through all that, and still had the time and strength to help a selfish, useless nobody like myself back then...I’m sorry!”

With fistfuls of Penny' shirt in her clenched fists, the rest of what Jasmine said seemed to come out in a incomprehensible babble. She wasn't able to hold back the tears afterall.

“Of course I chew! How rude.” With a look of annoyance, Rajah crossed her arms and huffed as Iggy moved away for a moment. How dare he suggest that she have no manners! Oh, she’ll show him! Though the thought was quickly banished when food was presented.

“Ah, I knew I kept you around for a good reason Sir Ignatius.” With Iggy having returned with food, Rajah took it with a momentarily nod of appreciation before proceeding to scoff the food down in about half a second. The exceed could probably eat a dragon, such was her insatiable appetite.

Penny

What could Penny say? The silence seemed to grow, and Penny knew she was going to face the wrath of a dragon. Dead or alive, that would not be a pleasant thing, she knew. There was nothing she could do, nothing she wanted to do. She deserved anything that the old dragon sent her way. And she’d face that with her head held high, knowing she had done the only thing possible of her. She’d face it, not crying, but strong. She could do that. For Solias. She drew a deep breath, preparing herself. Perhaps it was only the solace that he wouldn’t harm her in front of Jasmine that made her strong. Penny didn’t know, but she knew that she would always face her death head on.

It wasn’t like she couldn’t choose to come back, at least that first time…

It wasn’t like she couldn’t choose to come back, the first time. And that was when she knew she would, as long as those she loved were alive. Surprised at that revelation, she contemplated it a moment, before she let out a slow breath. Let Ryujin do his best. She as ready. And so it was that she was taken aback when Ryujin didn’t smite her where she stood. Instead of feeling comforted by his words, Penny felt anger.

He was in pain! He asked me for my help! There aren’t many, if any other, Phoenix Slayers around! And even if there were, he trusted me. He asked me… I couldn't deny him.. No matter how hard it hurt, how much she wished she hadn’t had to kill Solias, she knew that it had been the right choice. Even if it would torment her for the rest of her life. It was not selfish… I was the only one who could give him peace… he was suffering… and before she knew what was going on, she started to cry once more even as she fought against it.

Her emotions were fluctuating, she didn’t know what she was suppose to feel anymore. She felt like she had to defend Solias… that she had to defend his honour, It was perhaps a foolish thought, given that she had killed him. What perhaps disturbed her the most was that she had sought those few months of solitude to gain control of herself once more. The change in her magic… the way that it felt, the difference… the way it affected her… she had thought that she could at least control her emotions, even if she didn’t yet understand what had changed within her.

No… My flames were always lit… The wheel of time turns, and what was, is again. She knew those words, words that Solias had told her time and time again. A phoenix just continued to turn, throughout time. ... until it dies… a new age must always come…

Only a Phoenix slayer could kill a phoenix. Although, that wasn’t true, was it? A Phoenix could kill another Phoenix just as easily. Although, there weren’t any Phoenix’s around… at least, she thought Solias had been the last one. And now… Ariel might not be a full Phoenix, and neither was she, not yet anyway. I… I don’t know if I can handle it… . With everything, would it kill her? Would it destroy her?

And then Jasmine was hugging her, crying and clutching her shirt. Penny didn’t know what had happened, but at once she put her arms around the younger girl, holding her up, holding her close. She held her close, hugging her. She didn’t know what had upset the girl, but Penny would fight whatever it was. ”Shhh… shhh… its okay, Jaz… its okay, sweetie.” she murmured, absently reaching up to stroke her hair.

Jasmine’s words left her frozen for a few seconds, as she struggled to realise that, somehow, Jasmine knew what had gone on. Jasmine knew. She knew what she had done. And she was crying on her, hugging her like she was never going to let go. She… didn’t hate her? ”Jasmine… “ She said softly, pulling back to meet her gaze, ”You are not useless, you are not a nobody.” she said strongly, ”I won’t have you saying that about yourself, okay? You are strong. And you are selfless. You need to realise that, realise you are stronger than you think. And I’ll be there, to help when you need it.” she promised, hugging her once more.

Jasmine needed her… she could be strong, for her. And the guild needed them, right then. She could be strong, for them. Turning, she took in the two exceeds, frowning over them. She’d had enough of the little one and her angry demands. ”We’ll be leaving soon. I can fly, but if I give Jasmine a lift I won’t be much use on the island. I know that you can carry someone. Would you carry Jasmine, Ignatius?” She asked, ”Unless, of course, Rajah is capable of doing so… and willing.” let the angry little Rajah think of that what she would.

While she waited for a response, Penny said to Ryujin in her mind I would like to speak again… to learn more about my father. For now… I’ll return to pendant to Jasmine.

Stepping foot on land again was a surprising relief. Maybe it was the protective magic of the island but until they got inside it was not pleasant at all. Not that the island felt the best to begin with. Being sensitive to magic to begin with was annoying at times, but Ferrin's Aether magic didn't help. A majority of the sensations it produced Ariel didn't understand. It would probably make sense in time but right now it was like static. Annoying to be sure and it was distracting to say the least and painful next to that.

For a moment Ariel was distracted by the sight on the island and surrounding magic. Her attention was brought back into reality when the area was rocked by a roar. It wasn't just any old creature that could make that kind of sound. Whatever it was was big and powerful. Everyone could feel that, but it knocked Ariel off her feet like she'd run into a wall. When the roar finally stopped, it took her a while to even attempt to get up. "Damn. What the hell was that?" Shaking her head the woman rolled over and got back on her feet slowly. "What have we gotten ourselves into?"

The surface of a shallow creek glistened with the morning sun, the gentle rolling of the rapids downstream in harmony with the drone of insects and croak of a wisely toad. Perched upon an exposed rock amidst the stream, the amphibian gazed into the wild shrubbery across the stream in contemplation. A gentle rustle caught its attention. With a wary croak, the creature shuffled to the water’s edge and dived beneath the surface just as a sharp squeal prefaced the sudden arrival of a wild hare.

The hare burst from the shrubbery, skipping across the stream in a panic. A young man followed suit, dressed in a short sleeved, navy coat with a fur collar. In his hands he clutched a glaive with a star shaped blade, the shaft elegantly inscribed with the mantras of the boy’s homeland. When running through the creek, his boot caught on the rock the toad had previously sat upon and sent him planting face first into the water.

Lifting his head, he watched the hare scamper off into the dense woodland. His stomach growled. With a long groan, Plutus let himself collapse back into the stream.

~~

Moron!” Bayard socked Plutus, who was positioned in a groveling kneel, with a heavy bonk on the top of his head. The younger mage clutched the sore spot on his head and winced, blubbering out an excuse.
The lil’ guy was too quick for me, Bayard! He had a home field advantage.” Plutus had secretly hoped he wouldn’t catch the rabbit, since the idea of slaughtering the fuzzy friend for lunch made his stomach turn. Bayard expected as much.

We wouldn’t need to hunt for food if you didn’t turn down the reward for our last gig.” Bayard scolded, picking the kid up by the scruff of his neck and to his feet. Plutus folded his arms and pouted.
Real heroes don’t work for money.” He muttered, averting his gaze from the older mage. Bayard opened his mouth to argue, but instead settled for a disgruntled sigh. The kid had heart, he’d give him that. Yet passion doesn’t fill an empty stomach. The pair had made somewhat of a name for themselves as vigilantes – much to the disdain of the Rune Knights. They weren’t appreciative of wizards who worked outside the guilds and by extension, the council.

Plutus' naïve, fairy tale view of heroism was what drove him; often leading to some of his most surprising acts of courage. It also meant his skewed view of reality was a constant annoyance to the more cynical Bayard. The light mage reached into his rucksack and removed a bread roll, breaking it in two and offering the bigger half to his downtrodden companion. Plutus face lit up, clutching the food in his hands with glee before going in for the bite. Yet just before his jaw was about to enclose around the aromatic, firm crust, he shot Bayard an accusative look.

You paid for this bread didn’t you?” When Bayard said nothing, the boy had his answer. Shoving it back into the older mage’s hand, Plutus turned away and began to pack away their camp.
Fine, go hungry then!” Bayard spat, turning away and continuing his own preparations.

~~

The two were walking through the forest silently, both smoldering at each other with occasional glances. When Plutus couldn’t take it any longer, he walked straight ahead whilst shoving past Bayard with an annoyed grunt.
You shouldn’t steal. People have a hard enough time getting by without losing their profits to low-life thieves.” He shot a look back at his companion on ‘low-life thieves’. That was the last straw. Bayard clenched his fists, stepping closer to Plutus with longer strides and spinning him around with a firm grip on his shoulder. Reaching down to his collar, he lifted the kid closer to him while menacingly staring down at him with a scowl.

Listen here you little,” Bayard paused, staring around him for a moment before quickly shoving Plutus into a nearby shrubbery. He crouched behind the bushes as well, making sure to move as little as possible.
What gives-” Plutus began, before Bayard clasped a hand around his mouth. He peered over the bushes, pointing through the foliage into the woods. It was hard for the boy to discern at first, but he would soon enough make out the silhouettes of two figures. The pair watched, hoping the unknown duo would pass them by.

James Hunt|A Test of Honor

The near instant paralysis from his apprentice was all the answer that James needed as to how much thought Cody had given it before talking to him about the matter. First will come denial, then thought then...well, I suppose that one depends on the person. The trail was sparse and there was more than plenty of space between indications they were on the right track, but so far they had managed to be consistent in a direction. "Overconfidence will be their undoing," he mutters, letting Cody deal with his internal struggle while he investigates another piece of torn clothing.

So caught up was James in determining if they were still going in the right direction that he was entirely caught off guard when Cody asked him what to do. The Paladin turned to face his student and, after a moment of thought, shrugged. "I couldn't tell you, Cody. I myself, as I told you before, have never faced such a dilemma. I spent most of my life training to become a knight before my magic surfaced, and then that time was spent learning to control it and wield it. The time since leaving my parents has been spent learning more about my magic and doing odd jobs to provide for myself, or rather the jobs that the guilds don't pick up when they receive a request. This is one experience you'll have to figure out on your own."

By now the pair had progressed a good ways into what he hoped was the right direction when he held up a hand for Cody to stop, the same hand reaching for his sword hilt immediately after. The faint sound of rustling, after so long with only the two of them, put him on edge. He moved forwards carefully when he heard the sound of a suddenly cut off protest, which resulted in his sword coming free of it's sheath and his shield sliding onto his arm, the blade rested on the top, sword point towards where the sound had come from. "Come out of hiding or I'm coming in after you. And I promise that's a fight you'll lose."

Ferrin Astra

Tenrou Team

@MarshiestMallow

As if to punctuate his words, the ground began to shake violently. Ferrin reacted instinctively, sucking in aether, enhancing his body for a burst of balance and crouching to lower his center of gravity. He managed to remain upright as the quake subsided, but even as it did, a massive, frightening bestial roar blasted over the magus. His own cry of pain because of his enhanced hearing was lost in the deafening sound as it continued for a sadistically long time. Every muscle in Ferrin's body clenched as the noise flooded his head. Shiden, summoned on reflex, fell into his hand. He tried to concentrate to cast a silence spell but his head felt like someone had put in a vise and it was slowly being squeezed. After several dozen painful seconds, he managed to claw together some semblance of coherent thought. Gasping, he sounded out the spell. The roar cut off. Blessed Silence. Well, not exactly. The noise was still there, but it was muffled greatly. Sagging a bit, he groaned and pressed a finger to his temple. He could feel a migraine coming on. He really had to work on that particular flaw of enhancing himself with aether. Sometimes the enhanced senses that came with it were useful, other times, like this, it was a real pain or even a danger.

Out of the corner of his eye he watched Sasha equip a very intimidating suit of ice armor, complete with a spear. Her magic to him was a winter's breeze: a crisp, clear, gust of air that left a biting chill in it's wake. He forced himself to relaxed as he watched everyone's reactions to judge when he could drop the spell.

Eventually it seemed to fade. As it did, Ferrin let the spell around him cease. Not one to let a good tense moment go to waste, he turned to the previously ignored Time Lord and said "Empty Night. Timmy, feed yourself." with a completely straight face.

Sasha spoke as the roar's echos died. "I do not think anyone can plan for this… I don’t know what we are to expect. But I think it’s safe to say, we ought not dally. I think we should stay together, but… if you have any ideas, I’d be open to them.”

Ferrin nodded, looking thoughtful with his metal hand on his chin as the wheels in his mind immediately started turning. His mind went back to his time in the Second Trade War and Mavis's teachings. He wished she was here right now, she had a knack for these things. Where she here, what would Mavis do? He asked himself.

"Well." He started slowly. "The first rule of warfare is 'Know thy enemy'. In this case, we need to figure out what is here, what it is capable of, and what is going on. Also, I think it would be reasonable to move with as much haste as possible. Whatever is going on we need to shut it down immediately." He started pacing, five steps, turn, five more, turn, repeat. "Scouts. when one want to know what their enemy is up to, send out scouts. We could send out wizards with skills and magics for moving without being seen, each with a communication lacrima connected to one here. They fan out to comb the entire island, which isn't too big all things considered. The rest of us can set up a base of sorts while we wait for their reports. But, doing this would take time and those scouts will be at extreme risk if they get into trouble while the majority of our force would be safe just in case we go from the hunters to the hunted. We could set some kind of pre-arranged signal if they do need help. Something like..."

Ferrin lapsed and stopped pacing as he dug around in his pockets. He cursed as came up with only three cylinders trailing string. "Damn, I thought I had more." He held one up. "Something like a firework, should they not have the magic to replicate one in some form." He sighed. "But I only have three left so...there goes that idea. We will have to work on that."

He gathered his thoughts again before launching into he second idea. "Another option is to split all of us into teams of three to five, based on skills and strengths, each with a communication lacrima paired with one back here. These numbers would ideally allow us to cover a lot of ground, while still packing enough power to get out of a dangerous situation and numbers enough to look out for each other. One team would stay here to facilitate communication and direct everyone's movements. Each team would need at least a 'combat' wizard, a 'scout' wizard, and a 'support' wizard. The scout would be in charge of, well, scouting. Their job is to find anything of interest and keep an eye out for danger. The support wizard would be the center of the team: they hold the lacrima and stay out of danger at all costs, thus playing a 'support' role. Finally, the combat wizard's job is self-explanatory. Their job to keep everyone safe and enemies unsafe. These need to be wizards with great power and combat experience. I would consider myself an example of one. Depending on how numbers and skills turn out, we may have overlap in these roles, which is fine, even ideal. Redundancy is good. Should one team get in deep trouble, the team back here can direct the closest teams to back them up. However, a pre-arranged signal, like a firework, would not be amiss, should they be unable to contact the base. This gives us the most flexibility, while covering the most ground and still keeping everyone relatively safe."

Ferrin took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Our third option would be to travel as one large group, with a few scouts. This would give us the advantage of numbers should we attack or be attacked. This is the safest option, but also the slowest and least subtle. Anyone within half a mile would hear us crashing through the woods. We would have a few wizards as scouts so that we don't walk into an ambush or get some warning in case of any other danger."

Ferrin stopped and spun on a heel to face Sasha and Patrick once again. "I would advise toward the second. but each option has its own pros and cons. As the leader, the decision on which path we take is up to you dear girl."

As he fell silent, he questioned himself. Did he consider every option? Was there a better way? Was there some detail he missed? But he shoved his doubts aside and forced himself to project an air of supreme confidence.

Hunter Jorgenson|Island Paradigm

Hunter walked around the edge of the beach while the other talked, sniffing at the forest and air as the others went about making a plan. He'd decided to dismiss the "flavor smells" as his father had called them and focus on the core scent that they all shared. He knew he had smelled it before, but no matter what he tried, it was so diluted by the other smells in the area, and their flavor smells, finding that core one was all but impossible. "Damn it all..." As he turned to give his own suggestion on what to do, the island shook like a giant had grabbed it and was now trying to rip it out of the earth. Bracing himself by staying low to the ground and crouching, he started to make a remark about it when a sound he never thought he'd hear again ripped through the island.

"Son of a bitch!" Hunter braced against the roar, standing against it's primal force as if to challenge nature itself, budging only when the intensity seemed to grow. After what seemed like eternity though, the roar stopped. Their de facto leader responded with a show of magic as icy armor formed over her body, with a spear to match. Long coat guy, and it didn't matter what his name was, Hunter was going to call him that, approached Sasha and proceeded to lay out a series of ideas. As Hunter walked over, he couldn't quite follow all of what he said, but it sounded good. Except they didn't need scouts.

"Those are all great ideas, long coat guy, but you don't need to worry about scouting. I know what that roar was and anyone who's ever met a dragon should as well. I've only ever heard a dragon roar once, when my adoptive father truly grew angry. It's a sound meant to instill primal fear in lesser men and make the bolder of human kind hesitate." He turned to look into the forest, the now identified scent of dragon wafting across his nose. "And if we're lucky, there's only one..."

Jasmine Lockwood and Rajah

Ryujin listened to the anger-filled words that Penny returned fire with, accepting that he deserved anything she may want to say or call him. In whatever tone she wanted. He didn't quite understand humans or the companionship and kinship they felt towards others, their parents especially they shared a unique bond with, but he could appreciate it. In his youth, he hadn't but as he had grown wiser and older he slowly began to accept such foreign concepts. So to bring her Father's actions into such a light, this was to be expected.

Not that there was much he could've done to Penny in this situation regardless. As he had said before, he was merely an old spirit housed within Jasmine. He had little power beyond his memories and knowledge to spread. And of course communication with the outside, but even that was through a secondary lacrima. Linked to his own that dwelled within Jasmine.

Of course, there weren't many Phoenix Slayers. There weren't any of any slayer, and he remembered most Phoenixes as being a very secretive and lone creature that preferred isolation to others company. Her father Solias was an exception. Despite their stark differences in personality, beliefs, experiences, elements and, most important of all, races they had struck together a bond that upon looking back, shaped Ryujin into the being he was today. He had always been jealous of that Phoenix, with how he always managed to stay calm to how he could get himself out of almost any pinch. Perhaps his current persona was simply his vain attempt to channel and mirror his old friend?

Who knew. Anyway, he was getting distracted by unneeded thoughts. For he had two suffering girls to aid, though neither were helpless in their own right. Just from the small glimpse of memories he had seen from Penny, he knew she was the real deal. And he had known Jasmine for many years, watched over her even as he slept. Safeguarding both her magic and memories like the man and he had agreed he should do till the time was right. He still felt it was a little early, but a sudden intake of magic had awoken both himself and the magic. Without the ability to reseal it, he had little choice in the decisions made thus far.

"That isn't entirely true young one, there are many ways to kill any creature. Whether they be Phoenixes, Gods or...even dragons." His voice came out a little...bitter at the end. His mind still dwelled on that incident, the one where he had perished. That...monster that had slain him was still beyond his understanding. "He asked you knowing you wouldn't, couldn't, deny him. No matter how desperate he was, it was selfish to make his own daughter feel this burden. But, I am not exactly one in a position to criticise such a decision. For I am just as foolish and selfish as he, if not tenfold more!" The dragon let out a hearty laugh. Reflecting on his own mistakes, how many there were.

“Ah, I suppose that is true, but not quite what I meant young one.” He said with a low chuckle. This girl was strongly minded indeed, much like her father. He would’ve wished to have met her mother, for only a woman with a strong will would’ve been able to put up with that stern man. He was familiar with the concept she put forward as well, but as he had said that wasn’t quite what he was trying to get across. It was pointless trying to argue such a fine detail though so he decided against it.

Not that he had much of a chance as Jasmine had chosen this moment to come over. Ryujin letting out an “Oops.” as he and Penny bother quickly worked out the dots. Though Ryujin more knew how she possessed the knowledge she now did.
“I apologise, young slayer, I should’ve barred her mind from my own. It is my fault and not my young charge’s that she is now in possession of such knowledge about you.” Though Penny seemed more concerned with trying to cheer the water dragon slayer up than the fact that Jasmine now knew she had killed Solias, her father, it seemed like his apology wasn’t necessarily

Regardless, he felt like he still owed her one.

Hearing Ryujin’s apology, Jasmine shook her head. She wasn’t sure what he meant, but she shouldn’t have been eavesdropping on their conversation. She might’ve made an apology, it certainly sounded like she said something anyway. But it came out as an incomprehensible babble between her sobbing and her speaking into Penny’s shirt. Penny might need a new shirt after copping the volume of tears and snot that the girl expelled.

When Penny pulled back to meet the blondes gaze, her eyes and cheeks had turned a big puffy red. Jasmine, still trembling and tears gushing down like a waterfall, couldn’t meet it and averted her gaze. She still couldn’t find the ability to form comprehensible words, her throat feeling so tight and sore that just breathing alone was like trying to climb Mt Hakobe one-handed.

She wanted to argue with Penny. But couldn’t, she physically couldn’t right now. So instead she just shook her vigorously to deny the older mages words.

She was useless.

She was a nobody.

She was selfish.

And she wasn’t strong. Not at all.

She was a burden, she knew it. There was no use denying it. Deep inside she wanted to believe Penny’s words. No matter how much she wanted to, however, she found herself unable to for she also knew herself.

“You are only a burden if you think as such. I expected no less from his daughter, but the young Phoenix is correct in her judgement. Perhaps it is time I show you.” With Penny embracing Jasmine again, the younger mage hugged her back. Like her life depended on it.

“It is alright young slayer, you are welcome to ask whatever you wish to know about him. I knew him for many, many years after all.” It would seem that whatever Ryujin had meant with his previous words, he didn’t seem like he was going to reveal to Jasmine just yet. Though his next words were certainly an ....interesting choice.

“Before you return the pendant young slayer, I must ask something. Why must you fly? Why do you not use the lacrima either yourself or Jasmine have in your possession to simply teleport there? I must admit I do not know the specifics of how they work, but if you wish to save time and magic power is that not the most prudent course of action?”

While Ryujin made his mind-shattering suggestion, Rajah cast a glare towards Penny. Either unaware of the severity of the situation, or simply not caring, it mattered not. But the little Exceed ‘hmped’ before flying straight up into the Slayer’s face.

“Of course I am capable of it human, but why should I? Such brutish work is beneath me, that’s what Sir Ignatius is for anyway.” Following her arrogant words were equally obnoxious and over the top laugh. Even Ryujin was made to sigh by the Exceed’s actions.

“...I also suggest we leave this one here. For my sanity if not your own.”

Ashlyn Johnson

By some sheer miracle, they had managed to convince Ash to get in the boat rather than launch herself towards the Island. Perhaps it was the fear that she might not make it and land in the ocean which convinced her, rather at least in the boat there was less chance of that happening. Regardless, all the while once aboard the little dinghy, she became a hopeless mess. Clinging to Enma like her life depended on it, screaming and breaking into tears at every little single jerk the boat made. It was quite pathetic really, taking the definition of the worlds to all sorts of new levels. It was even more so than Enma's seasick state. And god forbid if any water that splashed up went anywhere near her, the scream that would follow sounded more like a teenage girl having come across a cockroach, or that of someone being brutally murdered in the most gruesome and slow manner. This lasted the entire trip, but thankfully because of the state she found herself in the nature and thickness of the ethernano around them seemed to not bother her in the slightest.

Once the boat touched land, however, she seemed to vanish and could be found scrambling around on the beach. Hugging and kissing the sand beneath her.
"Land! Sweet, sweet land! Never leave me again!" Perhaps her reactions were a bit over the top, but the sheer relief she felt from not being out at sea in such a pathetically small vessel was quite evident. She had just gotten back to her feet when it happened.

First, she fell silent as she felt a powerfully ominous presence. Before she had much chance to work it out, the very air seemed to vibrate as the loudest, most terrifying roar shook the entire island. It caused even Ash to completely freeze on the spot from fear. Whatever was the cause of this ruckus was strong...just from the roar alone that was evident. She wanted to clasp her hands over her ears to at least try and block out the noise, but couldn't find the willpower to move. Her body feeling like it was made out of steel. But somehow, she managed to keep a stance that stopped her from losing her footing. Though, if it lasted much longer she mightn't be able to.

Once it subsided, she wiped some blood that slowly trickled down. Grimacing as her ears still rung quite violently, her vision swimming as she reached out for Enma or anything nearby that was sturdy to hold onto until she regained her bearings. Taking a moment, she turned her attention to that of Sasha and Ferrin. So these two seemed to be in charge then? She wasn't entirely sure who they were, but she hoped they knew what they were doing.

The third person that spoke however she recognised. That was Hunter, the jade dragon slayer of Dragon Fang. Yes, she remembered him from the games. He was one of many on the list of people she wished to fight, but that could wait till later. For she now she pushed away from Enma and approached the group, cracking her knuckles as she came to a stop before them. This could only end well.
"I don't really know what the problem is ya shady bastard, just let me at em and there won't be no problem for much longer. Simple." She didn't care for this whole planning process. Honestly, if they were going to make one they should've come here with one at least. But, if they were going to go for an option she didn't mind the second one. In fact, she would be one of the first to volunteer for the 'combat' wizard role in a group. She had come here for only one thing after all; a fight.
"Dragons, demons, humans, whatever. I'll reduce them all to ashes all the same. Just put me up front and there won't be any more 'disturbances' on this Island."

Cody Bloodstein

Well, the response was probably what one should've expected to be honest. James spent most of his time training after all, and now that Cody thought about it he didn't really see him interacting with the other members all that often. Not if he couldn't help it. Still didn't mean he didn't feel a twinge of disappointing at his answer. Perhaps it was just because he thought James held all the answers he ever needed and depended on him too much. That was probably it.

He knew not how to handle these conflicting feelings. While James inspected their surroundings, his mind continued to grind away. Maybe the right thing would be finding Amaya and talk to her about it? But what if she didn't feel the same way...gah. This 'love' nonsense was such a hassle.
"It would seem so." Sighing, Cody came to an abrupt stop as James signalled him to stop. Immediately tensing up, he quickly drew his own sword. Cursing silently under his breath. He had become distracted and had stopped paying attention to his surroundings, he was sure James would lecture him about it later. He definitely needed more training anyway. But luckily the experienced Paladin had noticed the rustling and assumed a fighting stance. Cody took a deep breath before releasing his magic power. Just in case.

"It would be in your best interests to do as he says." Feeling his magic scatter, Cody stepped behind James enough that in case of a projectile he could hide behind the Paladin's shield but still left him with a decent field of vision in front of them. Leaning in slightly, he spoke in a hushed tone to the older mage.

"Do you think it's one of the gangs?" Cody's eyes darted around to try and make out where their unknown 'guests' were hiding. To at least know how many they were up against if nothing else. But he couldn't quite figure it out, though he could sense at least two presences beside their own.

Ferrin Astra

Tenrou Team

@MarshiestMallow, @Zarkun, @Lunarlord34

Ugh, Wizards.

And yes, he was one, and that gave him the right to complain about them in a purposefully ironic and hypocritical manner because he of all people would understand the depth of their arrogance and general contrary-ness. So there.

Ferrin turned his attention first to the green-haired man who unnecessarily identified the roar as belonging to a dragon. Judging by what he said and the feel of his magic, Ferrin felt reasonably comfortable pinning the man as a dragon slayer. "Yes, yes. It was fairly obvious that was a dragon. If it was not, then it would have to be Timmy's stomach, and then we would really be in danger. I have read dear Sash here's journal." The shortening of Sasha's name was entirely intended. "A Dragon here was fairly likely. Expected even. It is the unexpected that I want to scout for. You say 'one if we are lucky' how would you know if there was as more then one? And what if there are other threats? In fact, was would stop the dragon from decending from the sky and taking us by surprise? Determining numbers, understanding the situation, and acting accordingly are essential to surviving any conflict. Winning is another matter." He said the last part with a hint of black humour.

A couple of questions did occur to him, along with a pun that he tucked away for later use. Here was someone who had dealt with a dragon directly, perhaps he could give Ferrin a more accurate idea of he strength and capabilities of dragons. All Ferrin had to work with were mere legend, heresay, and some vaguely remembered lectures on the magical and alchemical properties of their various body parts. He snorted softly as he remembered his old Alchemy teacher. Old crusty Legius would have a fit were he here. He was always fascinated, no, obsessed with dragons. He even claimed to have seen and talked with one, though he was also nutty as a fruitcake so who knows if it was true. However, his extensive knowledge about them would come in handy about now. If I can get a scale, maybe a claw or a fang or two... Ferrin pulled himself out of the past as another wizard, a woman with fiery hair, which, Ferrin judged, matched her attitude, joined them with proclamations of destruction and ashes. Am I the 'shady bastard'? He wondered, amused. Grey was a shady color, right, right? Ahem. On the other hand, this hot-head wasn't going to add anything but difficulty to the discussion at hand so he summarily ignored her.

To the green dragon-slayer he said, "Your first hand account of a dragon could be useful, no matter what we decide to do. I'm going to need to know everything you can recall about your...adopted father." Ferrin made a mental note to ask the other slayers similar questions. Actually, he probably should have done so on the trip here, but he had been so wrapped up in...well...

Hindsight is the clearest sight, so they say.

The pair approached closer to Bayard and Plutus’ hiding spot, the former growing more anxious with the sound of each foot step growing nearer. Plutus peaked through the bushes, able to identify the strangers a little clearer. One of them men appeared to be clad in armor of brilliant gold.
Get back,” Bayard pulled back his younger companion with a harsh whisper. “They could be bandits.
Plutus scampered back a little, his hands clenched firmly around the shaft of his glaive. He gave Bayard a quizzical glance.

What kind of bandit wears golden armor?” He saw the Light Mage’s eyebrows raise in curiosity. Something was amiss about these travelers. Bayard hoped they would pass them by, but it seems the armored fellow was more perceptive than he’d thought.

"Come out of hiding or I'm coming in after you. And I promise that's a fight you'll lose."
Shit Bayard reached his hand back to grab the hilt of his blade when a second voice spoke out.
"It would be in your best interests to do as he says." Bayard felt magic radiating from this man. Wizards.
Cocky bastards, Bayard grit his teeth. If they were wizards then the odds of fighting them off was going to be slim. He looked back to Plutus, who was now sitting in a crouched position with his glaive at the ready. The eager smirk plastered across his face was nauseating.

Plutus’ fingers were twitching. While his senses were not as honed as Bayard’s, he could tell when another wizard was nearby. The first thing that crossed his mind was dark wizards. Or rather, the first thing he considered was the opportunity to do as any other hero would and take on these villains head on. He was just waiting for the go ahead from his friend.

Plutus knew the way these guys were talking would surely peeve off Bayard. So when his hot-headed friend eased his grip from the hilt of his greatsword, Plutus was taken back. Bayard removed the sword and laid it out on the ground before him.

Cool your jets; we’re unarmed.” Bayard rose from his kneeling position, standing but a few meters from the unknown pair. He looked back down at Plutus and nodded towards his weapon. The younger mage was skeptical at first, but followed suit in laying down his arms. He jumped up besides Bayard and lifted his arms above his head in a comical fashion.

Parlay!” Plutus shouted. A few birds fled the treetops at the loud outburst, which was then followed by a stifled silence.

That’s pirates you numbskull.” Bayard rolled his eyes, taking a cautious step forward. There was something about the armor clad mage that irked him, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Bayard sighed, swallowing his pride and addressing the pair with his usual, disgruntled tone.

Look, if it’s money you want we ain’t got any. We’re just travelling through the forest. Don’t want no trouble.” He slowly lowered his arms back down to his side, a gesture Plutus awkwardly copied. In truth, the younger boy found himself fascinated with the pair, more so than wary. What reason would a pair of wizards have for being out in these woods? Maybe they were vagabonds just like he was.

Zenoram and Zero

> > > On Tenrou Island < < <
Phoenix Wing
Interacting with @Crimson Raven@Lunarlord34@Zarkun and basically everyone else within earshot on Tenrou

Zero had been frozen in place when the roar came. His eyes were wide in anger... fear? Excitement? He couldn't place it. But his pupils narrowed, matching the appearance of the all too familiar beast he'd felt the presence of. It was making sense. But the thing about not knowing, what he had vaguely picked up from the speech of the guy in the long coat was important in and of itself. He growled though as Hunter approached. The plans were good, and the notion of gathering information was smart, it was what Hemlock would have advised, but there was something else to note. A dragon's senses. Without a doubt, it, or they or whatever, had already taken note of the strangers encroaching on the land. He turned immediately to follow after Hunter.

"Hunter is right. We shouldn't send scouts." He said immediately. "But it isn't because we already know there is at least one dragon. It's too dangerous to send anyone out alone. If we're splitting up at all, which would be stupid by the way," he paused directing this line at Ferrin before continuing, "The best plan would be the smaller team idea. Scouts will be useless though." He shook his head. His senses had adjusted for the most part, but the area was still making it a bit harder to concentrate on any one thing. And not knowing the scent of the dragons, their respectively elements, or anything else about them made picking out any of them or getting a solid number that much harder. Still, now that he knew what they were looking for he could ascertain that, "There is definitely more than one dragon on this island." He said seriously.

"I could be wrong, but the chances of that are pretty damn low. And given that these are dragons that we're talking about, your scout idea would just make whoever we send out, easy pickens. Cause I guarantee they already know we're out here. There senses are among the best of any creature. And if they wanted to take us out, they would." This was likely the case, barring a rage induced or some other kind of, frenzy. "I'm no leader, but I'll tell you this. It took an S-Class mage, along with myself and two other mages to build up the power to kill my father Hemlock. And he was a young dragon by their standards. Not to mention in a weakened state." Zero stated, clutching the scale-like leatherly material of the jacket gifted to him by his father. At the ready, in the right state of mind, and at full power, Hemlock might have decimated them and anything in his path. And that was the message Zero was trying to get across.

"Not saying you don't have good ideas Long Coat Guy," Zero spoke once more, mimicking Hunter, "Just saying, that's not the best course of action dude." Having said that, Zero was prepared to do as told. It wasn't his mission, and fighting among themselves wouldn't help. Even if he hated the idea of just doing what he was told. "And you. Yeah you with the crazy eyes (Ashlyn). If you think that it's gonna be that easy, that simple... Well..." He paused, growling at he calmed himself down a bit, "Well, I'll bring flowers to your funeral."

Was that really necessary?
It wasn't unnecessary.

Zenoram sighed in their mind at the response and notion of Zero having antagonized someone else without needing to. Especially given their collected agreement on not needing to fight within the group given the likely foe they'd be facing.

Sasha looked over at Mayt and gave him a reassuring smile. She had to make it clear that she thought everything would be alright… that they could do this. Mayt was one of the first people in the guild that she had ever gone on a mission with, and she still had the carved fish he had given her. She carried it with her now, as a token of friendship, and she wished she could tell him just how thankful she was, for everything he had done for her back then. ”No… but that’s why we are here for. To help, and bring about peace to this island once more. Restore the balance of magic and whatever else that means.” She hoped she sounded confident… she hoped she sounded like she knew what she was doing. She knew that she had to present a good image- a strong image even if she didn’t feel particularly strong right then.

Her guild was counting on her. The other guilds too… perhaps even the world. She went from confident, to unsure in a matter of moments, but she couldn’t let any of that show. She had to be strong. And she could be strong. She would be strong, for her little Hope. Looking to Ariel, she waited a moment before she answered, intending to answer everyone that spoke, whether it was to her or not. ”Well, i suppose that depends on your view point… but… it is danger we walk into, but if we don’t, well… we need to stop what is happening here.”

She turned towards Ferrin once more as he begin to talk, giving them advice on what they should do. She listened, her expersion serious as she considered each option. They were all good options, and she weighed them all heavily, seeking the best option. She would leave this island with everyone alive and well- no one was dying on her watch. No one.

The first option was a good one, at least to her. Despite the fact that this was Fairy Tail’s island, there could be anything here, after a hundred years. Particularly with the dark energy around the island… Anything could be attracted here, and she was willing to go careful, if it meant everyone would leave alright. The thought of spliting up was not even an option, at least to Sasha. Not when one small group could end up fighting a few dragons by themselves. No… She was not going to lose anyone. As she went to respond, Hunter came up and sasha waited for him to speak.

”There is more than one.” Sasha said softly, her voice steady, as she gripped her staff in one hand, looking up, and meeting their gazes. ”Arguing amongst ourselves won’t do any good.” she said, surprised at the authority in her voice. Where had that come from? ”Splitting up is not a godo idea, if what you say is true.” she said to Zero/Zenoram. ”We do not have the S class mages to go around, nor, do I fear, we have the Dragon Slayers. I think sticking together is the better idea, at least for now. I’m not losing anyone, and if we don’t have a way to communicate and send help quickly, well… I’d rather stick together, even if it makes things a little harder to do. I want to keep everyone safe.” The thought that everything rested on her shoulders… She cast a glance at Patrick, but the young man was chuckling softly.

”You have to admit, you are a shady bastard.” he said to Ferrin, grinning. He didn’t seem to be worried… what did he know? Sasha tried not to let any of her worry or fear show- she knew that she couldn’t, not if they were going to win this thing. She had to be a good leader. Straightening to her full height once more, she shrugged her shoulders, her armor settling into place.

For once, it felt like it actually fit her. For once, she felt like she deserved the title of Ice Queen. For a brief moment, she wondered what her Edolas counterpart would think, seeing her now.

”the difference is, Phoenix’s come back” Penny replied, ”the only true death… is the Phoenix song.” she never wanted to remember that haunting beautiful death lament… not every again. She hoped to god she never died before her friends, before Damien and Sasha… because she knew she wasn’t strong, she’d choose the option to come back… and be a Phoenix Forever. And then who would kill her? There were no other Phoenix Slayers, that she knew off. Ariel, to her, did not count for that… and She’d never make Ariel have to make that choice. She couldn’t do it to her, or anyone else.

[j]”I did it because I loved him, and because I… didn’t want him to suffer. And I know that I would not want to live past those I love.”

As she continued to try and comfort Jasmine, ”its fine. I shouldn’t have tried to hide it from her… “ she replied to the dragon. What was she going to do with Jasmine? The girl was stronger then she realised, but convincing her was going to take a lot of effort. ”Jasmine… Jaz… You are strong, and courages. You are bright and kind-hearted. Look at everything you have done… everything that has happened to you and you are still going. If you don’t believe my words, believe that. You are still here. You have beat everything that came along, and you are still here. And if you ever need a hand, I’ll always be there. No matter what, okay? Because you are family.”

”I’m not exactly sure where the island is, or if we can reach it with the lacrima. The best i could do would be to use it to teleport to the boat- and even that might be a little risky. I’d have to assume who is on there… although if Jarvis is still on the boat, it would be easier.” she replied to the dragon, ignoring Rajah for the moment.

”Rajah… “ Ignatius said with a heavy sigh, ”Have some more food.”

@CitrusArms @Demon Shinobi @Burthstone

At Zero's recommendation, Karn gave a nod and transformed back to human form and ran off to fetch Mithera. Finding her sleeping soundly, the young blonde picked her up gently before trotting back outside on deck. Moving her so she was over his shoulder, he transformed into a pegasus once more, shifting so his friend rested more comfortably on his back. Trotting over to Trinity, the white winged horse offered her a lift to the island. Once she was on, Karn took to the sky, flying over the waters. Not daring to look down.

'Don't look down don't look down.'

'Yes please don't.'

Flying over the terrifying water, it didn't take long for Karn to land onto the island. Waiting for Trinity to dismount, Karn transformed back into his human form, carrying Mithera piggy back style. Which probably was a bit odd looking considering she was taller than him. The blonde glanced around the island, jumping a bit as a roar rang out and his green eyes sparkled with utter wonder.

"Drrrraaaagoooon!" Karn cheered and was started to bolt off in a direction until skidding to a halt, eyes shifting to the etheral green as Edarn took over, standing a bit straighter and acting as if carrying Mithera was nothing.

"Yes, and bolting in said direction sounds like a great idea." Edarn said, her face expressionless with a sigh but her expression soon switching as Karn's cheerful expression took over.

"But dragon!" he cheered.

Prince

Tenrou Island

@MarshiestMallow

Prince for the most part was pretty leisure through the trip toward the island. Sticking with Michael wherever his teammate went. Happily hugging him or just lounging about on the little boat. Unlike his friend Karn, having little to no fear of the water. The salty seas were a bit calming. A pirate's life wouldn't be so bad truth be told. When they reached the island, Prince stood on the beach and strethed out his tall body, leaning a elbow on top of Michael's head gently.

"Well here we are Mikey! Are you ready for this splendid adventure?" the tall cat man said, giving a toothy grin as a roar rang out. "Got a feelin it's gonna be a great one."[/color[ he gave a hearty laugh. Seemingly unperturbed by the most likely dangerous sound.

Trinity Stratos
Tenrou Island

"Okay, I'm ready." Trinity had just climbed aboard Karn's back, ready to be carried. She was really hoping that Karn wouldn't freak out, she'd been having some weird issues with her magic regenration... she would prefer to not have to expend any energy unless absolutely necessary.

There's no way there's actually a dragon, right? Totally. Probably dead of old age or moved somewhere else.

They landed, she dismounted readily, turning to look at the sea. "Karn, you did it! Turn around and look at it. Know that you can-" and the rest of her words were lost.

Fuck! There is a dragon! Oh, I really stepped in it this time! Okay... okay, you walked into this. You're with the guild. Just stay with the-

Goddamnit Karn! Trinity took off after Karn, sprinting with everything. Karn slowed down for some reason and she took her opportunity, tackling them. "Don't be daft! Does that roar really sound good to you? N-now, c'mon, appreciate what you've accomplished for a second... oh, it's Karn. Hi Karn," she gave a smile and a wave, and then rested her head on Karn's back, relieved, "oooh, you have sense... <3". And the she realized what she was doing and she jumped to her feet; offered a hand. "A-anyway, you alright? Sorry, I had to tackle him."

Amaya watched the choas break among them. Ferris asking Cecilia to go get patrick. Patrick telling Cecilia to stay. The appereance of the literal dragons. This set amaya's heart to flutter of excitement of seeing other dragons maybe find hers along with the fear of their might and her pacfist way of fighting. Fire, shadow, Sky and poison...No Ice dragon. It hurt seeing no ice dragon but it also brought hope. That she would still be able to find Aurora again.

Amaya lookes around taking in the sights sound and smells "Sorry Sasha but these dragons will not go down if me and the boys sit Idly...forgive me."She said allowing Cecilia to take flight seeing their target to be the sky dragon "Wendy was the sky dragonslayer. Abilities of buffs, Healing and control of wind currents."she said reciting her knowledge of the dragon from her own tome from her mentor ages ago.

She halted in mid flight feeling a wave of darkness take over putting the dragons to sleep causing the silence to fall. She looked around confused but found the source as her heart skipped a beat. "It's him....Really him...Zefer."She said to herself feeling fear for the very man that put the dragonslayer nane to disgrace the very man that caused her and zero to hide their magic. She also felt a primal rage awakening inside her. If he didn't exist, Aurors would have never needed to hide...Amaya would have never lost her family, her home! It was all his fault. Amaya floated down to near thw front watching Zefer as she felt like encasing him in ice then shattering his existence but even she knew that wasn't going to happen. For now she was going to keep watch of hunter zero and the others closely as well as Zefer.
