Theo hard agreed with Connor’s astute observation about how it really was unlike him. He not only agreed but, as Connor took a sip of ...whatever that odor was, chuckled when his friend’s arm came around his shoulder. He grinned as it seemed to him that he wanted to help the French-American out with his MacKenna Diedrikson problem. Not that there was a problem per-se. For Theo, it was more to do with him than with Mac herself. That being said, Theo appreciated Connor for that (among other reasons).

“Heh,” Theo punched Connor playfully, laughing as his hand unintentionally slammed on the table. Fortunately for him, the table didn’t collapse from the pressure. “But what do you say we have a game first?” The ginger snickered, looking down at the ball in one of the empty cups. He took it into his palm and smirked. “You might have a hot streak right now but I’m going to put you on ice, my friend!”

While his sister’s comment about him not being dressed appropriately lingered in the back of his mind, Ty seemed to be taking up the role of the party greeter. He had a few people in mind that he wanted to talk to, but unfortunately, none of them were here yet. So there he stood, looking like the tall, lanky idiot he was - right up until the point Junie approached him.

Ty assumed that his attraction towards Junie wasn’t really a secret. While he was raised to be a gentleman and didn’t harass or catcall her like he knew others had before, he had flirted here and there over the last few years. Why they hadn’t hooked up yet, he didn’t know. Perhaps it was that they were always occupied with someone else, or that he was trying too hard to respect her boundaries. Whatever it was, it appeared to be out of the way as the red head magically appeared in front of him.

"Junie,” Ty said, a smile slowly spreading across his face as he looked at her. Careful not to let his eyes follow the open v shape of her dress, the young man offered her his arm to take in hers before speaking again. ”I’d be more than happy to. Lead the way.”

Before grabbing his arm, she swiftly, and gracefully, poured whiskey in one of the cups, using a nearby table for support, “I will, but first, while the night is still young... have a drink.” When he grabbed it from her, she poured herself one too. She was already tipsy, because as a college girl rule, within the last hour from your arrival to any event where there will be drinking, more so in a club or party setting, you needed to have a drink every fifteen minutes within that sixty minutes. Doesn’t need to be too strong, just enough so that by the time you arrive you’re feeling good. Junie was definitely feeling good.

Leaving the bottle behind, not really wanting to look like a drunk whore just yet, she grabbed his arm with her free hand and started sauntering onward. With a gentle smile on her face, she inquired, “Anything exciting happened to you this summer?” She paused and looked up at him, letting her kittenish gaze capture his blue jeweled eyes, “Anything I’d care about?”

Taking a sip from the cup, Ty was thankful that Junie had chosen whiskey. Rather she had chosen that because of him, or it was just a mere coincidence, he didn’t know. It was probably best not to overthink it. After all, that was his sister's job - not his. As they walked, he took a second to think. What about his life would interest Junie?

"Well, let’s see. I now have a part time job at a tattoo shop in town. I’m mainly shadowing some of the more experienced artists, but I’ve done some smaller pieces. I’ve also been learning how to do piercings there. It’s been a pretty cool experience. Went to Coachella with Jazzy. The music isn’t really either of our styles, but she’s been trying to ‘expand her horizons’ or whatever. Other than that - nothing much. Just sort of relaxed, mostly. What about you?”

“Oooh. Maybe when you’re ready, you can give me some art…” She gestured to her belly button, while she flirtatiously purred, “Around here, to compliment my piercing.” This would be the first time she revealed to him that she had a piercing that wasn’t just on her ears. After taking a leisure sip of whiskey, her deep ocean blue gaze never turning away from his focused stare, she answered his question with a laugh, “This summer my dad decided to see what we wouldn’t do. He’s kind of… crazy. But a good crazy. We’re always traveling, but this time it was for dune bashing, hang gliding, diving with sharks; y’know, things to make your blood rush. Rosie and I decided to see who would chicken out first. Let’s just say. It wasn’t me.” Junie did her homework. She knew very well that Ty was an adrenaline junkie, so perhaps, this would entice him. Fortunately, her mother trusted her father wholeheartedly, so when Junie put the idea in her father’s head to take them on a thrill seeking adventure, she knew while her mother wouldn’t necessarily like it, she’d be okay with it, if her father promised nothing bad would happen.

A belly button piercing.

Holy fuck.

Taking another drink of the whiskey as if it would cool down the steamy thoughts running through his head, Ty couldn’t help but notice the way that Junie spoke about her adventures. Having a love for the more daring things in life himself, it had proven difficult to find someone to talk to that didn’t think his adventures were crazy.

"Shark swimming, eh? Can’t say I’ve ever done that one. Dolphins, however. Those are fun. I’ve always wanted to skydive. Not sure why I haven’t yet, but, ya know.” As they continued to walk towards the lake, the young man was thankful for Junies suggestion to get away from the masses. While he enjoyed a good party just as much as the next guy, sometimes things could be a little much. “What a thing or two that’s always been on your bucket list?”

Before answering his question, her step gained an excitable bounce as she exclaimed, “Let’s go together! Skydiving. Maybe you’ll catch me as I fall.” Her lips rose into a mischievous grin, while they reached the shoreline. Taking another gulp of her drink, she shrugged, “What is there to do, that I haven’t already done? Hm.”

She thought about it for a second or more and simpered, “Don’t make fun of me, but I’d love to kiss on top of a Ferris Wheel. It’s sappy and cliche, but it’s that simple gesture that I just find…” She hesitated, trying to find the word for it, but only able to come up with, “Cute.” Not wanting that fantastical, naive, and romantic notion to linger in the air for too long, she added, “Another one would be designing my future home. I know these aren’t as exciting as my summers with dad, but I’m pretty content with what I’ve lived so far. How ‘bout you?” Of course, she had a few sexual wants and needs on her bucket list, like getting choked during sex, but he didn’t need to know all that right now.

”Since you told me a cheesy one, I guess it’s only fair if I return the favor,” he said, returning her smile with his own. “I wanna have a family. Like one of those wholesome, white picket fence ordeals where we have a golden retriever and make pancakes every Sunday.” The man laughed, thinking about a possible future in which this would come true. “As for the big things… I want to tattoo people. That’s my dream. I know I’m majoring in psych or whatever, but that’s just to really get my family to shut up. I want to take like a year or two after college and just explore the hell out of Europe. Rome, France, Athens - all of the great, old cities.” As he spoke, his eyes lit up thinking about the possibilities. Normally he wouldn’t be so open with anyone, but talking with Junie seemed to come easily. Rather it was her personality or the alcohol, he didn’t know.

“I just really want to live my life with the least amount of regrets possible. I wanna go places, do things, meet people. Stand on the highest cliffs and feel like I’m on top of the world. See a black sand beach. Just… things like that.”

While he lit up talking about all the things he desired, she lit up watching him. All these things he wanted to do, she could easily see herself do with him. She wasn’t obsessed or anything, but seeing him, right here, sharing his heart with her and more, just felt right. They felt right. This was three years of build up and honestly, she couldn’t wait to do it all with him and if anyone got in the way, especially his sister, she would deal with it by any means possible. Rather than respond with words, she guzzled down the rest of her drink, bent over, placing her empty cup on the ground, and then started taking off her boots, “... how ‘bout you and me, take a little dip, hm?” Once her shoes were off, she ran her pointer finger down his chest, as she batted her eyes and gleamed, “All this talking has made me rather… hot.”

For a split second, Ty had no idea why she was taking off her shoes. Maybe her feet were hurting? But as she suggested that they go for a swim, everything seemed to click together. If he had known that talking to her would have been this easy, that they shared so many things in common, and those eyes... Let’s just say Ty would not have waited patiently for Junie to approach him first. Finishing off the rest of his drink and sitting his now empty cup beside hers, Ty stood back up to smile at her once more.

“It is warm tonight, isn’t it,” he said, lifting his shirt over his head. “What the lady wants, the lady shall get.”

"Smart, save it for later." Connor replied, rubbing his shoulder in mock pain. "Gives me more time to google how to be a half-decent wingman."

"Magnifique!" He enunciated, mustering up what little French he knew. "A Bonfamille to add to my lists of victories tonight."

Connor felt a bit tipsy, but it was all the more reason to come out on top, triumphant. "Ruthlessly destroying a Bonfamille? Should probably put that in my C.V. under special skills." A mirthful chuckle escaped his throat. He adjusted his glasses back onto his face before fixing the table. It took him a few minutes to set the table, mixing some of the beer that was on it with the whiskey that Theodore brought. His nose wrinkled; atop those tables sat the foulest drinks he's smelt in a long time. A fitting punishment for the stakes.

The blond smirked and stood across the redhead. "Ball's in your court, T." He said simply. "I am, after all, a gracious host."

“What do you mean you can’t make it?” Devin said with a frustrated tone. He had been waiting at the meeting spot for almost ten minutes now. At first the call had gone normally, but then in the span of a few short words his friend went from absolutely coming to unable to come. The play was somewhat out of character, but he did just get a new girlfriend and had sometimes been flaky after starting a new relationship.

“Hey man I am sorry, but some stuff came up and it just isn’t gonna work for me tonight. You are still going to have a blast. Just hit up Blake and he can get you there.” At this point there was a hurried goodbye and then the call ended.

If he had eyes that could work he would be rolling them at the world. But instead behind his sunglasses he looked cool as a cucumber. What a complete ass he thought as he voice ordered his phone to send a text to his friend Blake. “Message to Blake” STOP “Hey my friend just bailed can you get me into the Great Bash? … SEND”

Putting his phone away and leaning against the restaurant wall Devin started to think about the different outcomes of tonight now that the field had changed. He basically lost his pitcher before the anthem finished and was expected to take the field. Really there were only two options. Either a new player gets the game going or the team forfeits.

“You”

Devin continued in his own mind hearing the voice call out, but immediately assumed it was someone talking to another person. After all, how many people shout out at a blind guy who wasn’t moving or about to be hit by something?

“You look familiar. Go to Meadow?”

Now it was starting to be obvious that the person was talking to him. Devin stood up from the wall and turned his head towards the voice walking over to him.

“Yea, I do. Devin Coal.” He said leaning on his white cane and holding off on a handshake. He stood somewhat stoic as he wondered what the person wanted. It wasn’t a voice he recognized so they were unlikely to be someone from classes. When you are in music you tend to get really good at recognizing voices. Though it could be someone from an elective or just a similar class building schedule. More often than not he was ‘that blind guy’ to people on campus.

While there were people that paid attention to students’ reps for one reason or another, Lance Page was not one of them. Perhaps it was because he was so invested in his own world, all the beautiful designs flying into his mind randomly, to bother himself with the happenings at school. Perhaps, it was because he was constantly, eagerly, thinking about the next time he’d be cooped up in the fashion studio, or his bedroom researching, drawing, fabric selecting, drafting patterns, measuring, sewing, or most importantly, refining, refining, refining, rather than out and about socializing. Or, it could even be because he was extremely tight with Madéleine Bonfamille and she floated above everyone else, which meant who the hell cares? She was, after all, a blinding diamond and undoubtedly a queen after his own heart. Regardless of the case, Lance had no idea whatsoever he was talking to a blind kid, or that his school even had a blind kid there.

“Devin. Word. Nice to meet ya.” He stood his guard, usually one to offer a handshake but the guy he was talking to seemed more confused than not at the mere idea that a stranger was talking to him. Instead, Lance hooked his thumbs into his pants’ pockets, while adding, “I’m Lance Parker Page! Gonna be big one day, so, remember the name.” The fashion boy had no idea his sister was creeping up from behind him. As he scanned Devin’s ensemble, Lance laughed out loud, “Nice statement you got goin’ on there.” which was his polite way of saying: ew. The cane was definitely something new for him. People did do it for style! And yet, Lance couldn’t understand what Devin was trying to pull off. He was a plain Jane, to say the least, and the cane was just… different.

“Anyways, sorry if this is weird. Just waiting for my sister to hurry the f- up so we can skedaddle.”

Crossing the street as quickly as she could, Lil caught the last part of what Lance had to say. Playfully slapping him on the shoulder and mouthing the word rude, she smiled brightly at the stranger before speaking.

“The sister is here and present, so you can stop waiting now. Who’s your new friend, Lance?”

Devin was thankful for the inclusion as their rag tag party went from two to three as a woman’s voice entered the fray. He heard his new acquaintance say he was waiting for his sister and she seemed slightly less… Lancy than Lance. “Name is Devin Coal. He then let his cane rest on his side as he reached out towards both voices. His hand was off slightly, but in the right general direction.

Devin…. Lilliana recognized the name from one of her classes last year, but she couldn't particularly remember anything of note about the guy. When he reached out, she shook his hand politely.

"Nice to meet you," she said warmly. "I'm Lily."

“Wordddd.” Unlike his sister, Lance didn’t grab Devin’s hand. His sister’s soft hand was enough for the both of them. “Now that we’ve all introduced ourselves, why you standing here? Awkwardly? Waiting for a ride or something?” Nosey Lance was nosey, but from across the street to now, this kid looked like he didn’t know what to do with himself! If anything, Lance was doing the loner a service by gracing him with his presence. Before his sister or Devin could react, the fashionista boy chortled, “Also, bro, I don’t get the cane. Are you some pimp daddy ready to spank his bitches?”

Devin smiled as he let go of Lily’s hand. He then shook his head when Lance asked why he was waiting around. “Sadly my friend bailed on me before we were going to the Great Bash…” he paused a little to feel special though he knew it was a glass house. The past two years his friends had been begging him to go to the yearly party, but he always passed. Now the first year he wants to go and he suddenly gets an ego.

“Well the cane sort of compliments me as it were.” He then added as he started to fold it up. “See I am not the best at walking the mean streets of Meadow View and this helps me navigate them.” Devin then tipped his sunglasses down so the two could see his cloudy eyes. “One look at this bad boy and the street gangs know they are messing with the wrong blind guy.” He laughed as he then flicked the cane and it locked back together.

Lance nodded attentively, as if he understood what the boy was getting at, but the fact that Devin was blind didn’t click until Devin spelt it out for him. “Oh no shit!” He would’ve never guessed! That must be hella’ rough navigating around. If he were in the same position, he would’ve probably gotten a service dog (no Lance, you can’t afford a 40k dog). Fortunately, he was not. Honestly, he wouldn’t know what to do if he didn’t have his eyes. How would he ever survive without the beauty of the world?! Such a tragedy to not be able to see pretty things.

“Man, that kinda sucks.”

The thought of being abandoned right before a party saddened Lil. Thankfully, she always had Lance by her side, but just being ditched at the last minute?! How tragic. When Devin talked about his cane, everything she had heard suddenly came rushing back to her. Devin was the sweet guy on campus - but he was blind. One of Lils’ friends had taken notes for him last year. Smiling ever so slightly at Devins joke, Lily shot her brother a certain look to let him know to choose his words wisely. Lance was an amazing person, but sometimes he didn’t really think about what he said before he said it.

“Well I think it kind of suits you in a way, Devin. Lance, how much longer until the Uber gets here? I’m ready to get white girl wasted already.”

Speaking of the devil, their Uber pulled up across the street, the driver looked around and when he turned his attention towards Lance and his company, the diva of the trio waved and gave him a thumbs up. “Since you’ve gotten ditched, Devin-boy, you should totally ride with us. You shouldn’t miss this banger because your friend decided to be a lame-ass.” Lance would offer his hand to the blind kid, to help him get across the street, but it didn’t seem appropriate. “What do you say?”

Devin was very appreciative of the brother and sister combo that struck up a conversation with him. As soon as they offered him a spot on their plans to get to the party he heard the siren song of a passing ship. Happy to tie on with them he accepted their offer to join them in the Uber and was equal parts happy, Lance offered to help him through the path, and equal parts sad that it wasn’t Lily.

Not far now…” Devin said as the music got louder and louder. When they finally arrived, he could sense his guide was starting to think about next steps both literally and figuratively and decided it was best to release him. “See here is where the seeing eye dog is a double edged sword. Devin had planned to just ask for one more favor; however, he felt Lance let go and seemingly walked off in search of something specific.

Finally!

They were here. Going through the woods was a pain, and like the good Samaritan boy Lance was, he helped his new friend through it like a champ. When they appeared out of the woods and in sight, the party was happening and there were way too many people already. He was too distracted to hear anything that Devin was saying.

Where was his darling Queen? Was she getting booze? Was she off to the side judging someone with her sexy judgy face? WHERE WAS SHE? From a distance, he saw that fluffy pink coat he knew so well. Turning to face his sister, he quickly kissed her on the lips, “Beautiful, I will leave you to take care of the blind boy. I must flee.” Without further ado, he sped-walked through the masses and called out, “BUBBLESSSSSSS!!!” Why the hell was Maddie and her brother so far away?!

Caught in the dark as it were meant Devin stopped and started to listen to his surroundings to try and map out everything.

He could hear the music in the distance mostly in front of him to the left. He figured that was coming from the cabin area as that had the outlets for the sound system and speakers. He could hear the splashing and shouts commonly found near the water directly in front and to the right of him. A fire could be heard to his far left and what seemed to be the loudest part was between the music and the water.

Devin decided to take a shot in the dark “Lily would you be able to get me to the bar or wherever I can find a summer ale? I can promise the first round is on me?” The obvious line was heavily ended with the tone of a saving grace wink emoji at the end of a text. No harm no foul as a baseball fan would say. Still he needed at least a point in the right direction to where they were serving and walking up with a nice gal seemed like an ego boost he hadn’t tried before.

The ride to the Bash was surprisingly short, thank the gods. Lily listened in as the two boys exchanged a word here and there. She was mainly focused on letting the few friends she had at the party know that she was going to be late and why. When they all exited the car and began their way down the path, Lily couldn’t help but glare daggers at her brother as he walked away.

“That’s really no problem man,” she said, wrapping her arm around his as to help steady him.“Sorry Lance took off like that. He’s sort of the more popular of the two of us. Has lots of fans to please.” Taking her time to let Devin know where the branches and rocks of note were, Lily finally got him to the beer table. ”If you’ll excuse me Dev, I gotta get going. There’s a few people I need to catch up with. It was lovely meeting you though!”

"M Squared, huh?" Mona said with a half-smile as she reached for the bottle of tequila and gave the boy a quick nod in greeting. It was only after she'd poured herself a shot and knocked it back like a pro that she continued speaking. "Okay... I guess I can dig it. I hope you're not a lightweight though, Nate. Cause I'd really hate to see me and my girl over here drink you under the table." But just before Mona was about to suggest a drinking game of sorts to help liven things up, she suddenly felt a pair of thin arms wrap around her from behind. And seconds later, she felt a kiss being planted right on her cheek. Of course, Mona didn't even have to turn around to know that it was her best friend who'd found her by the liquor table. She grinned in delight and gently patted Junie MacMillan's hand; She was even going to invite her to take a quick shot or two before realizing what had been whispered into her ear. So instead, she offered her friend a knowing smirk before returning her attention to the tequila.

Having to stand and witness Junie and Jasper's attempt at being cordial made Ramona feel uneasy; It was no secret to her that the two didn't get along (to say the very least). It put her on edge... feeling like she was just moments away from having to be the person who stopped the two from clawing each other's eyes out. Having two good friends who didn't get along sucked, and Mona always made sure to let them know that... not that it had changed much of anything. And instead of making an attempt to have them say more than two or three words to each other like always, Mona simply downed another shot of tequila and silently wished for the universe to remove her from such an uncomfortable situation.

Thankfully, Junie was gone almost as quick as she'd appeared; Mona passed the bottle back to Jasper and watched with curious eyes as her friend made her way towards none other than Tiberius Delamar. She kept looking in that direction until the redhead had disappeared into the crowd, and it was after then that Mona felt the tension that'd been in the air dissipate. "Oh thank god that's over," Mona said, letting out a deep breath as she let her eyes sweep over the remaining bottles of liqour that sat on the table. "Maybe we could go play beer pong with Theo and them? If you guys want. But first... it's time to see what Nate's made of, yeah?" As Ramona spoke, she pulled a bottle of Peach Ciroc from the table, poured a shot, and shoved it into the boy's hand.

"Bottoms up!"

Mac let the lights from the party play over her face and moved her body to the booming music as she slowly sipped the drink she had mixed in a red solo cup. She had opted for a simple vodka cranberry as her drink of choice keeping the small bottle of vodka in her back pocket so she could mix a new drink at a drop of a hat.

“You know Keeks I really do-” MacKenna’s sentiment was cut short by the shriek coming from the blonde blur divebombing her roommate’s lap. It was Lottie Diedrikson, her cousin and best friend in the world. Even though Mac loved Lottie like a sister she couldn’t help but feel like she was in always in Lottie’s shadow. It had always been that way ever since they were kids and all throughout high school. Everyone loved Lottie so they liked Mac by association. Even now Kiki’s only focus was on Charlotte and nothing else.

“Nice to see you too Lottie!” Mac pouted from behind Kiernan with her arms crossed in front of her tapping the empty cup on her hip. She was just about to interrupt their snuggle session when a familiar voice called to her.

"Macaroni ~ Did you miss me?"

The dark-haired girl couldn’t keep her face from contorting into a grossed out grimace at what Aleric had just called her. He knew she hated it when he called her that. “Shut the fuck up you loser!” she grinned at him throwing her arms around him “I actually did…” she said rolling her eyes in Lottie and Kiernan’s direction.

She turned back to face her newly arrived friend “You getting settled back in ok?” she asked. Whatever Aleric answered Mac had a hard time focusing on what he said because there was a very strange scene going on over his shoulder.

Theodore Bonfamille was walking with determined steps towards them before he stopped and took a swig from a bottle. Then he seemed to have some sort of inner discussion with himself before looking in their direction and quickly scurrying off toward the beer pong table.

“What in the world…” Mac whispered to herself. “Al! Follow me!” she said snapping her fingers as she bounded in the direction Theo had gone. When they arrived at the pong table Theo and Connor seemed to be setting up for a new game. Mac let a smirk spread across her face as she approached the two men.

“Hey! You playing?! How about we double? Me and Al against the two of you nerds?” Before they even had time to respond MacKenna grabbed the small ping-pong ball throwing it up into the air trying to catch it again. But as the clutz that she is, she missed the ball on its way down and it bounced on the table corner and away from them “Oh shoot!” Mac exclaimed and ran after it.

The small ball kept rolling away and the girl cursed under her breath as she ducked down lower to get it. But suddenly she collided with something solid. “Ouch… What the fuck?!” she yelled falling backward.

Bastién had promised his sister a makeshift throne and he was a man that always kept his word. So as the pair walked around Bas kept his blue eyes on the lookout for somewhere for them to sit and wait for their brother to come back with their drinks. “Ah..” the dark-haired triplet let out as he spotted a few large rocks on a small hill looking out over the rest of the party goers.

“Come on Mads…” he said tightening his grip on his sisters arm steering her towards their makeshift thrones. From upon the small hill the Bonfamille siblings could watch over the party scene like royalty. As it should be of course. Bas took of his dark denim jacket and laid it down so Madéleine could sit down without getting her dress dirty.

The siblings spent some time talking and laughing together as they watched the party going on around them but to be completely honest Bas was getting bored. He furrowed his brows as their brother took his sweet time getting their drinks, he stood up surveying the crowd to see if he could spot Theodore.

“BUBBLESSSSSSS!!!”

A voice from the crowd called out and a man pushed his way towards them. It was Lance, one of Maddie’s friends. Bastién turned to face his sister with a smile. “You guys enjoy the party. I’ll go look for our idiot brother.” he said as he made his way down the hill nodding to Lance as he passed him.

The middle Bonfamille sibling regretting stepping into the crowd almost immediately. The mass of sweaty bodies gyrating on each other made him uneasy. As he got through the mass of dancers he spotted his brother standing around a ping-pong table with his friend Conner and… oh, that’s why Theo had forgotten about him and Maddie. MacKenna Diedrikson was among them as well. Bastién rolled his eyes as he continued on into the cabin.

The first floor of the cabin was still full of people milling about drinking and shouting. Bas took a walk around examining the place the books in the bookcase, the weird paintings that hung on the wall and finally the booze table that was set up in the corner of the room. Bastién wrinkled his nose at the spread on the table: warm beer, melting ice, of-brand liquor and questionable sliced citrus. He decided to pour himself some gin and topping it of with some tonic water dropping a slice of lime for good measure. He turned around looking out over the room leaning on the table sighing deeply while he took a gulp of his subpar gin & tonic. With a huff he got of the table and made his way through the room when he got to the stairs that led to the second floor.

When he got to the top he was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no one up there. You could still here the booming music from the outside but it was more muted and it had a somewhat calming effect. Again Bastién walked slowly around the room examining it. Something that caught his eye was an old casio keyboard set up next to a big window. He sat down the folding stool in front of the keyboard and set down his cup on the floor next to him. There was a layer of dust covering the keys that Bas had to blow away. Apparently the owner of the cabin hadn’t played on the instrument for a while. He pressed the switch and to his delight it turned on and the speakers worked.

The young man stretched his arms and his slender fingers before he closed his eyes and let his fingers move over the plastic keys playing the first piece that came to him.

With the princess safely escorted to “the ball” and the clutches of the dragon expertly dodged, Cassian was left to his own devices. Which unsurprisingly didn’t amount to much, he had watched Junie interact with the group gathered near one of the tables and his face was a picture of his amusement as they all reacted to her different. Especially Jasper, who usually wasn’t one for subtlety was keeping a rather straight face, and reinforced the hold on her acerbic tendencies with the sweet blue agave nectar after watching her brother get dragged away by Junie.

Godspeed Junebug, throw it back like it’s your last night alive, because it very well might be.

Cassian had no need to watch people he knew (and mildly liked) turn themselves into bumbling idiots by guzzling down bottles and bottles of hard liquor. Thus he ducked into the crowd and found a new spot to people watch, though this time his eyes were glued to the entrance, namely waiting for Blake (or Lola), so he could bitch at him if he decided to show his stupid face. But that only lasted so long, group after group entered and the blond bombshell had yet to stumble in with her in-term-booty-call in tow, and so his attention turned to the triplets. Two of which were good friends of his, albeit not without a healthy dose of tension in the beginning, especially with Bastien. That though put another smile on his face, though it was probably closer to a smirk, maybe Cassian would spend his time bothering Bas and flirting with their little princess, the idea seemed more appealing as he watched them break up.

For whatever reason, he let his eyes travel to the last, and perhaps the least of the trio. Theodore wasn’t an enemy by any means… not yet at least, but there was an odd tension between them that Cass wasn’t exactly interested in exploring. Despite his frequency in befriending opponents, he wasn’t someone who sought out problems, rather they found him. Especially in this moment, as he followed Theo’s longing gaze, again, through whatever force compelled him to (boredom?), and found his jaw tightening and legs surging into motion as his eyes landed on perhaps the only person in the room he currently craved to be around.

Even with Theo’s cowardly retreat, the beer pong tables were beacons for partygoers, and obviously challenges set up to test his patience (and jealous possessiveness). Cassian had expertly weaved through the crowd, no longer interested in Blake, nor Bas, nor Madeline, but solely crashing in on the beer pong game that was kicking off.

Or rather, the cute girl crashing into his chest, chasing after the wrong kind of balls.

Cassian was reacting before his mind was able to process, easily slipping an arm around Mackenna to save her from falling on her ass, his hot-rich-boy-smirk™ softened with amusement on his face as he looked down at her.

“Party is just starting and you’re already running into my arms, Mackenna?”

Taking the two shots in her hand gingerly, Camilla had decided that she wasn't entirely interested in taking both shots by herself just yet. This was a party, and it was a good opportunity to mingle with other people. Not to mention, if she got catastrophically shitfaced early, it might've ruined the rest of the party for herself, and potentially everyone else. Taking two shots herself might've done more bad than good. Holding the shots toward the top of the cup, Camilla started moving at a relatively slow pace. She was scanning the crowd to see who exactly was free to take a shot with Camilla. Everyone seemed to be preoccupied at the moment, and her relatively short stature made it hard for her to see who exactly was chilling by themselves or waiting for someone.

There was her roommate, there were some of her friends, but they all seemed to be preoccupied and doing something else. Camilla only had enough shots for someone else, so she determined that it would be better to find a single person. She felt like she was Predator, singling someone out. Only, instead of killing someone, she would only give them a shot of tequila. Camilla then just figured out that the middle of the party was probably not the place to be looking if she wanted to find someone solo. What was she thinking? She needed to look elsewhere, preferably toward the edges of the party. From experience, Camilla would be most likely to find some solo folks there.

And right on queue, she set her eyes on someone who seemed to be alone, but she couldn't really see just yet. Getting closer, she continued to look around to see all sorts of people get shitfaced. It was a typical college party and Camilla was all for it. Hopefully her party was about to start. Upon getting closer and closer, she found that it was the one and only Leon, who, luckily, was someone she was very familiar with, and just so happened to be alone. At least, she thought. Walking up to him, she raised a shot glass up, a sly smile on her face. "Fancy a shot with ya girl?"

A huge grin spread across Alaric's face as he saw the obvious look of disgust on his friends face, Macaroni was a nickname that Mac hated and he knew it but it was just too much and way too easy to tease the dark-haired girl. "Loser? Oh you've hurt me Mac. I don't think my poor heart can take it!" The boy said dramatically. placing his free hand on his chest as if she meant the words. Alaric let out a laugh though as her arms wrapped around him, his gaze moving to Kiki and the infamous blonde. He stuck his tongue out at Lottie in a teasing and playful manner before taking a swig of his other friend - Whisky.

"Of course, I've got everything set up just like it should be. You know staying in such a boring place means I gotta make it feel spicy and not so drab." Alaric didn't realize that Mac wasn't really listening to him anymore and continued to drone on about how he'd made his room the perfect place to be. If anyone was close to the blonde boy they would know that the only place he could be himself without the strict rules of his father was a Meadow. At home he was forced to conform to the rigid lifestyle of the rich, perfect son and do what he was told. Being rich was so overrated, it was much more fun and free to live on the edge, never knowing how much money you really had. You wanted to go to the bar? Sure, but you might not know how your gonna pay, you might end up having to do party tricks on a street corner to pay for a beer. It was an adventure!

I wasn't until Mac snapped her fingers at him ordering him to follow her that he realized she hadn't even heard a word he had said. Alaric stuck out his bottom lip in a pout, "What am I, a dog?" he mumbled as he hurried to follow his friend towards whatever shenanigan she'd spotted.

Alaric had no idea what he was getting into by following Mac but when he saw Theo and Conner setting up for a game of beer pong he practically started jumping. He was like a kid in a candy store, he was grinning from ear to ear as he wrapped an arm around Mac's shoulders, pointing at the two boys with a confident and challenging look. "I'm pretty sure that I'm an Alcholic so there's no way that hey can beat us." He said in a matter-of-fact tone, wiggling his little bottle of whisky in the air. Mac than grabbed a ping-pong ball and threw it in the air, he watched with an amused look as she tried to catch and also watched as she quickly failed at whatever she was trying to do.

Almost as if he was watching some cartoon the tiny ball bounced off the corner of the table and went flying off in some random direction. There were probably plenty of the plastic things that they didn't need to worry about the one but Mac didn't think about that as she dived after the ping-pong ball like it was the only one they had. Was it the only one? He didn't know and instantly forgot about it as he watched the girl run into pretty boy Cassian. Alaric narrowed his eyes at the other male for a moment before walking over, his head was beginning to feel a little fuzzy from the alcohol and for some reason looking as Cassian's smirk really annoyed him. Looking Mackenna he spoke, "You good girlie? If you want to chase after some balls there's plenty of them around, I'm sure that guy over there has some impressive ones." He joked, reaching down to pick up the plastic object that had escaped.

Kieran’s compliments on her choice in fashion brought a grin to Charlotte’s face. “Thank you very much!” Lottie cooed, showing her appreciation of his words with another brief kiss to his lips. “I picked the outfit, and JoJo was the hair and makeup guru. She pulled out all the stops, didn’t she?”

It seemed Kieran agreed with Charlotte’s statement of Joey’s cosmetology skills, because he planted a quick peck on Lottie's cheek, light enough to not smudge any makeup she might have on for tonight's festivities. "And of course I'm doing better now that you're here! But hey, enough about me! You just get here? Are you set for drink? Or are you good to split the Jameson with me?

That earned him a chuckle and a playful eye roll from the short blonde. “When have I ever turned you down?” she teased, shifting around his lap to sit a little straighter. “Who cares if I just got here? Of course I’ll split the Jameson with you.”

Kieran laughed as he pulled the hefty bottle he had obtained from the table closer. Ever the gentleman, he slid the second red Solo cup out from under the one that contained his own beverage. It was a tradition of his that he always grabbed two cups from the stack at a time. You never knew when you needed to be able to share a drink with a new friend… or a very special one.

As he guided a generous portion of the liquor into the second cup, the Canadian did his best to keep the conversation going. “I should have guessed the outfit tonight was a tag-team effort. You and Joey make one heck of a combo. You could up do the whole university proper!” Satisfied, he plunked the bottle back on the table and handed the cup to Lottie, who graciously took it with a smile on her face. “Well, I don’t know when you got here, but this will make sure you get right into the party spirit! Cheers, munchkin!”

“Bottoms up, Viking!” Lottie cheerfully replied, tapping her cup against his and taking a swig from it. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears as the alcohol slightly burned her throat as it went down, but she quickly shrugged it off to focus on her handsome companion instead. “Sooooooo…” she began cautiously, as if testing the waters. “I’ve actually been wanting to talk to you about something!”

A strong sip of the whiskey passed Kieran’s lips in time with his drinking partner. He knew Lottie wasn’t much for Jameson, but he appreciated her gusto all the same. It was how she lived life. So when she wanted to talk to him about something, the hockey player was cautious, but intrigued. “Is that so, now?” he asked. “Well, I am all ears, Lottie. Let’s talk.”

“You know how you just said Joey and I make a hell of a combo?” Charlotte continued, gently caressing his jawline with her index finger.

“I think I did just say that, yes.”

Well... I’ve always talked to her about what a good time you and I have every time we’re together, and I came up with the idea that maybe all three of us could hang out sometime!” she proposed, waiting for Kieran’s answer with bated breath.

“Hang out?” he asked, with an eyebrow raised at the prospect, while Charlotte nodded eagerly. Kieran hadn’t honestly given Joey much thought in that sense. To him, Joey was just to Kieran what Mac and Eli were to Lottie. They were aware of each other, but most of his knowledge came from the stories Lottie shared of the escapades they went on. It’s how he knew they were close, but aside from a few social outings there was never any real one-on-one time with Joey. Certainly not in a three-way hang out sort of since.

The Newfoundlander would be rubbing his chin right now if Lottie wasn’t already doing that for him. “Well, given what you’ve told me about Joey, and what I already know, I think this could work. I mean, any super best friend of munchkin is welcome in my presence any time! You know, as long as the hair remains untouched. What sort of hang out did you have in mind? Like a movie or something?”

No matter how hard she tried, there was no stopping Lottie from bursting out in laughter. After so many weeks apart, it was so easy to forget just how clueless Kieran could be sometimes. “Okay, maybe ‘hang out’ wasn’t the best way to describe it,” she said with a giggle and a peck to his lips. “I wasn’t talking about hanging out as in dinner, a movie or anything like that. I was talking about the type of hanging out you and I do in bed together.”

Now both eyebrows were raised. “Oh… Ohhhhhhhh...Oh!” The light bulb had finally come on. Kieran had never thought about doing that with Joey. Or Lottie at the same time for that matter. His father had a saying about that sort of thing. Best be dropping your net in just the one bay, boy. Otherwise, you spread it out and you’ll get it ripped to shreds. But Kieran wasn’t a fisherman! He was an athlete! A star athlete! And they could do what they want! Especially if their go-to gal was proposing bringing in another girl. A girl who by all accounts was similar to Lottie in many ways, and that had to extend to the personality as well.

Kieran gave a little cough to clear his throat. “Well, I mean… I’ve never been one to be a prude or anything like that. You know me in that regard, Lots. And, uh, I’d be more than willing to give it a fair go. Is Joey up for this though? Have you brought this up with her? …Shit, is this her idea?”

“Let me answer these trivia questions, big guy!” Lottie declared, taking another swig of her drink before elaborating her answers for each of Kieran’s questions. Is this her idea? Nope! It was mine! I came up with this one all by myself. Have I brought it up with her? Yes! Absolutely! We had tons of discussions about it before she gave me the green light to ask you. And is Joey up for it? Hell yes! Just the idea of us tag-teaming you until you’re exhausted is enough to get us going...” she muttered in his ear, softly nibbling his earlobe before turning back to him with a mischievous giggle.

It was a good thing Kieran was sitting down because he was starting to get a little weak at the knees. Especially with Lottie giving his ear a quick bite. The girl definitely knew where his buttons were. “Well, you do know how long I can go for, and if you think you need Joey’s help to tucker me out… then I’m for it.” Kieran knew he drew it out a little bit. Most guys in his position would instantly jump at the thought of a threesome with two of the most beautiful girls in the Meadow. But he was known for playing things cool the majority of the time, at least until it was time to fight on the ice, so he had to give Lottie a little slow play. “I mean, I don’t know what you’ve told her about me, but if she wants to find out, and you want to help her, then who am I to say no?”

When Kieran suggested Charlotte needed her girlfriend’s help to ‘tucker him out’, the blonde raised her eyebrows. “Viking, I don’t need JoJo’s help to climb this mountain,” she replied, putting her free hand over her chest as if offended by the mere suggestion that she wasn’t challenging enough for him. “We both know I can take you out just fine by myself-- I have been for years. Just look at this as a way for us to change things up a little bit.”

The Viking chuckled. Just as Lottie knew how to push Kieran’s buttons, he learned how to hit hers in the time they had been going one-on-one with each other. She was always competitive, be it on the tennis court or between the sheets. He had to get a little shot at the ace now and then. “All right, all right. You have taken very good care of me: that is true. I will do my best to try and take care of both you and Joey when we get this little party of ours started. You have my word.”

Yay!” Lottie shrieked happily, downing the remaining Jameson from her cup so she could excitedly clap her hands together. ThankyouthankyouthankyouTHANKYOU!” she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around her Kiki to give him a tight hug. “You’re the best!”

Kieran returned the hug, enveloping the blonde in his giant arms. “People keep telling me that, I guess I gotta believe them. So thank you, Ace.” He punctuated that with a kiss on the lips. He could still taste the whiskey. “So, now that we have that done and dusted, what say we take down some pitiful fools at flipcup or something? Show those rich kids they’re no match for a couple of stars?”

Charlotte’s face immediately scrunched up in clear dislike of the suggestion. “I’m not really feeling the same old cup drinking games…” she mused, taking a second to think of a better alternative and quickly coming up with it. “How about Jenga? I saw a Joey-sized Jenga set near the cabin on my way in. We can add some spice to it and make it Strip Jenga if you want...” she playfully suggested, making her point by wrapping Kieran up in another deep kiss.

Kieran laughed. “Well, that’s a bit easier on the whiskey, as well as a lot easier on the eyes! I think you got me beat on options to take off, but if you want to lead the way, girl, I’ll be happy to follow.” As the two finally abandoned the picnic table to head back towards the cabin, both seemed in lighter spirits, and not just because of the Jameson.

Elliot stood at the edge of the growing crowd, watching with observant eyes as people mingled and reconnected. In his hand was a red solo cup, some random girl had just handed it to him with a giggle and ran off. He really didn't understand what it meant and was skeptical as to what was inside the cup. It was dark so maybe it was whisky or bourbon? It smelled like complete ass whatever it was. Drugs weren't a mystery at parties like this so it was also very possible it was spiked with something and in all honesty he didn't feel like taking a trip to la land today...or any day for that matter. With a shrug Elliot moved to the drink table and set the cup down, someone would no doubt snatch it up as soon as he walked away. If it was drugged than good luck to whoever grabbed it, he hoped they'd have the best trip of their life. If not then he hoped they didn't die of alcohol poisoning.

Not really one to get plastered at parties, Elliot felt a little out of place. Everyone was bouncing around and having a good time while he just felt like he wanted to go home, curl up under his warm comforter and watch some discovery show. He really only came because Mac and Kiki had convinced him to go, it was hard to say no to such upbeat people. Plus it wasn't a bad idea to try and mingle with people. His roommates were really the only people he interacted with on a normal basis, he considered them his best friends. Elliot let out a sigh as he swept his gaze over the crowd, looking for someone or something he could use to distract himself for awhile.

Nothing seemed all that interesting. Mack was falling into guys, Theo and Conner were playing beer pong, he was certain that Jasper was ready to pull Junie's hair out. Everyone was just doing their own thing and he didn't really want to interrupt. He figured the cabin might have better results and moved in that direction. As he was nearing it a sound caught his attention, it was barely noticeable among the booming of the dance music, was that someone playing piano music? Curiosity took over and Elliot meandered through the throng of drunk college students, he really hoped that whoever owned this cabin knew what they were getting themselves into.

Elliot got closer to the stairs, the twinkling of piano keys was unmistakable to him and it was obvious that the sound was coming from upstairs. He contemplated for a moment on if he should go up there or not. On one hand he might run into a cool person who can play a piano, on the other it could be some violent ghost just waiting for him to fall into a trap! Elliot shook his head, his imagination got the better of him sometimes.

In the end curiosity won, his mother always told him that he was too nosy and in this instance she was right. Elliot slowly climbed the stairs, the sound getting louder. Trying to be as sneaky as possible the boy peeked into the room and was surprised to see that it was actually a real person playing a keyboard. Part of him was a little disappointed that it wasn't the violent ghost.

Elliot patiently waited, he recognized Bastien but couldn't remember if he ever mentioned being able to play so well but then again he really never took the time to get go know the guy. Since he was distracted Elliot creeped further into the room, gazing around silently so as not to interrupt. He was actually very good, which was surprising for some reason. Once Bastien finished Elliot Did the typical cliched clapping, though he was still looking around the room as he did so. "Hey that was pretty awesome, didn't take you for a piano kind of guy." He stated bluntly, turning his gaze to the other male. He walked over to the keyboard and stared at it for a moment. "I'm surprised this is still even here and and working, based on how dirty this place is no one's been here in a minute."

The cabin was getting stuffy. It was time to go out and mingle among the people. At least that was the reasoning for Jade to step outside of the shack and let the waning summer air drift over her. Of course out here, ice was going to be a necessity for her beverage.

Hence the Golden Girl's return trip to the tables, where coolers were plentiful and could easily spare a couple of cubes for her drink. A quick lift of a lid revealed the frozen paydirt. Meanwhile someone was having themselves a time slamming down some shots on the table above. Holy shit, Screams McGee, pace yourself. You have a whole night to go, and screaming is unnecessary... She plunked the ice in her cup and returned to her upright position.

Then pain.

Granted, Jade had scored enough goals with her head that she could take a hit there no problem. But skulls are harder than balls, and the forehead-on-forehead clashes were never fun. She managed to avoid losing her cocktail in the process though, so that was a win, and it sounded like the gave better than she got.

It just sucked when she found out who she gave it to.

"JADE!"

The neon piping and pigtails could only mean that Jade just conked the heck out of her sorority sister. Joanna Hart. Rare to find Joey by herself. Usually she was stride for stride with her roommate Charlotte. Anyone with half a brain could tell those two were a thing. Not that Jade disapproved. Hell, she had looked at their relationship close up with just a twinge of jealousy that no one compared to her and could offer the sort of bond those two had.

But here Joey was, now likely concussed and by herself. What else was Jade to do? Especially with her sorority sister now holding onto her like that Brazilian guy clutching his fake World Cup. She put her free hand around Joey and patted her on the back. The lioness on the prowl persona was temporarily put away. "Hey girl, what are you doing going around headbutting people like that? You know that's silly, right? How are you feeling? You hurt bad?"

The part was bumpin and so was Leo, as he haphazardly made his way through the large crowd of equally intoxicated young adults. Maybe throwing back shots in between outfit changes wasn’t the best idea?

Not that he’d admit to it.

Nor would you find the young prince of Meadow University admit to trying and failing to find anyone of the many friends he had in attendance at the party. With so many bodies moving about Leo quickly found himself disoriented and alone, neither feelings he was looking forward to dealing with so early on in the night. So he tried to make the best of his situation, the people dancing (terribly, if he was allowed to judge them) around him were friendly enough to his intrusions and were easy enough to make quick friends out of as he joined in on they gyrating hips and boisterous laughter.

Maybe, and that’s a strong maybe if Leo hadn’t already been looking forward to spending his night with his love, or with their friends staying with the current group wouldn’t have been such a terrible thing for the night. They were all fun enough, though calling any of them interesting was pushing it… he had already forgotten their names and uh... What they looked like, as he quickly realized during his attempt to return to them after a trip to the nearest drinks table. A grumble left him as he practically stomped away from the heart of the crowd, roughly bumping into shoulders and throwing glares to the vocal complainers and quickly threw back his drink as he hung out on the outskirts of the action like some creepy loner.

“Fuck, where is everyone? Why are there so many people here? Did they change their mind and invite everyone from campus after all?” The grumble was barely heard over the booming bass of the popular club hit and Leo tried his hardest to look out over the crowd to spot anyone he recognized, and just as he was resigning himself to the loserdom of the outskirts and angel appeared almost out of thin air in front of him, even offering a shot of sweet, sweet nectar.

“I’m SAVED!” Leo’s voice was a shrill exclamation of excitement as he snatched the shot and pulled the cute Latina into a friendly embrace before downing it without hesitation, “Camilla, yooo, I thought I was going to be creeping from the sidelines forEVER! Shit, where is everyone, I’m kind of buzzed already but I’m ready to get fucked up. Have you seen my queen, by the way, I can’t miss the chance to tell her how beautiful she is.” The smell of alcohol was strong on his breath, and maybe labeling himself as ‘buzzed’ was a little bit of an understatement.

… but at least he was a friendly drunk?

Huff, huff, huff.

Pastel pink bed sheets creased and wrinkled in disarray; tall windows fogged from increasing heat; and crumpled clothes lined the soft carpet, leading to the bed that hosted a tanned, blonde vixen and a tired, out-of-breath party boy. Blake laid propped against the bed frame, one hand rested against his forehead to catch the sweat that flopped his once-styled hair and the other limp along the curve of Lola’s lower back. Here in this pile of disheveled sheets, pillows, and comforters was a college guy—falling just a hair short of love—with the girl he craved just as much as he did thirty minutes ago, before sex. Blake’s eyes were still glued to her body, infatuated both with her amorous physique and the personality that flaunted it.

Meanwhile, Lola was lying facedown on the bed next to Blake, mindlessly scrolling through her social media apps on her phone. The blonde hair that was once neatly styled was significantly tousled now, and her cheeks glowed pink with the remnants of what had transpired between her and Blake for the last half-hour. While her indifferent demeanor could be interpreted as complete disinterest in her companion and their previous liaison, the assumption couldn’t be farther from the truth. A mixture of relief and euphoria were filling up every fiber of her being: from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. After the weeks spent apart tossing and turning in bed, looking for the answer to the persistent question of whether she was truly in love with Blake or not, confirmation had been received. This was not an infatuation, or a crush, or a passing interest in a person she considered physically attractive. This was definitely something else. And although her body language didn’t show it, Lola was jumping up and down with joy on the inside.

“Do we really have to go to that stupid party?” Lola complained, making no motion to get up from her comfortable position. They'd gotten into this scenario with an unspoken agreement: once they’d finished ‘catching up’, they would get dressed and go to The Great Bash. But in reality, she didn’t want to go to the stupid party. Why they couldn’t spend the rest of the night in this bedroom ‘catching up’ some more was beyond her, but she wasn’t going down without a fight.

Blake ended his huffing with a sigh, trying to even out his breaths to speak clearly. “I mean,” he paused, hesitant to counter her desires to save himself from an unwanted argument. “Can’t you just let me show you off a little bit?” He smiled at her.

That earned him a chuckle and smirk from Lola. “Show me off to who, exactly?” she teased, tossing her phone to the side and shifting around the bed to rest on his chiseled chest instead.

Blake lifted his arm invitingly, repositioning himself to make a comfortable pillow out of his chest. He chuckled under his breath, one hand combing through her knotted, though otherwise silken, hair. “Anyone and everyone. I’d tell the world you were my girl if you’d let me.” The statement was bold, released without second thought and immediately half-regretted. Thankfully, she was turned away from him so she couldn’t see the heavy blush that heated his face.

The young woman’s deep sigh was immediate. “Can we not go down this route again?” Lola snapped defensively, shifting around once more so he was facing her back instead. It wasn’t exactly a secret that Blake was head over heels in love with her. He had never outright said it (most likely because he knew she would freak out if he did), but even an idiot would be able to piece it together. And, honestly? Lola knew she felt the same way about him too. He had so many of the qualities she wanted in her ideal partner: handsome, charming, sweet, considerate, affectionate, with the kindest, most beautiful heart and so much love to give. She knew she was an idiot for pushing him away so adamantly, and she knew that it would break her heart to ever see him with somebody else. But the idea of putting herself at the mercy of somebody else like that was a more terrifying prospect in her eyes.

Blake’s mouth opened to speak, but he was shut down by her defense. He was careful with his words with Lola, understanding her fiery spirit well by now—though simultaneously admiring that spice about her. His heart called to him with words of complete adoration, accumulating until he felt so full of emotion that it pained him, causing the crease in his forehead and the frown of his lips. He knew he couldn’t express his undying fondness for her, but he became used to living with the craze, so he didn’t speak at all. Instead, he gently stroked her back with his finger. He started at the curve of her hip, going up to the small of her back and to the base of her neck. Blake moved to kiss the soft, delicate skin between her shoulders before resting his forehead against her in defeat.

Although the sounds of Lola’s sorority sisters could be heard faintly in the distance, the silence inside the room was deafening. The blissful atmosphere that had filled the empty spaces around them just a minute previously had soured, replaced with the usual tension that came every time the sensitive topic of what they could be was raised. She didn’t need to be looking at Blake to know he was probably bursting from the inside out- because she was as well. It was so difficult to keep her walls up around him, to watch the way his face fell every time she pushed him away, or how his eyes glazed over with sadness at her cruelty. It was a constant, titanic effort to keep him at arm's reach. And for what, exactly? What had pushing Blake away brought her so far, besides supposedly protecting her heart from potential harm but breaking it herself instead in the process by risking the loss of the one man who had ever truly loved her? Nothing other than shared, unwarranted pain.

This was all too exhausting… It was time to finally grow a pair, take a leap of faith and let it go.

I’m just scared… Lola finally croaked through the silence, her voice betraying her by breaking slightly at the end of her admission.

Blake was shocked, lifting his forehead from the gentleness of her back to properly look at her. He watched her hair fall to cloak the expression that he was desperate to see. The mix of emotions was crowding him as he let the silence ride out longer. An unforeseen fragment of Lola’s feelings came out in the form of a shy whisper, strumming the peculiar chord his sensibilities created. Her choice of words was hard to decipher, and hard to react to; but after careful thought, Blake approached the anxiety that dressed her voice in insecurity.

His arms wrapped around her in a protective embrace, a kiss resting gently on her forehead. “Baby, you don’t have to be scared with me.” The moment was raw in form, and he was selective with his responses, afraid the genuinity would slip between his fingers.

And that was all it took for Lola to suddenly whip around, wrap her own arms around Blake and collapse into a sobbing mess.

Blake had never seen Lola cry before. It was the first that she’s ever shown her vulnerability to him, the true feelings that sat behind her veil of fire and charm. The once romantic situation plummeted to deep emotion, but it came with a satisfying clarity, yet still added confusion. It was clear to Blake that Lola had been subduing strong emotions, whatever they may be, and handling it independently. For Blake, he immediately blamed himself, feeling that his selfishness of always prying at her feelings was what turned into this. But how deep did these revealed feelings go?

He comforted her, a similar sadness hinting in his own voice, “Baby, no. . . Why are you crying? Don’t cry. You don’t have to be scared. I’m sorry. I promise things are okay, things are always okay.” The conviction in his voice veered off and became desperation.

Instead of calming her down, this only made Lola cry a little harder. She hated that Blake’s immediate reaction was to assume he had done something wrong and apologize. Had she really strung him around in such a way for so long that he now believed he was the root of all her issues? That was messed up, and it made her feel ashamed of herself.

Eventually, her sobs subsided enough to allow her the power of speech again. “This isn’t your fault, handsome. You don’t have anything to be sorry for...” she tried to reassure him in between sniffles, using up all of her willpower attempting to calm down. “It’s just…” she began again, looking up directly into Blake’s eyes so he could witness firsthand the raw emotions that were about to be exposed.

“I’ve been in control of the majority of the aspects in my life since I can remember. It makes me comfortable knowing that I have the reins of things, and that nothing happens around me without me allowing it. But then you showed up in my life like this fucking hurricane taking everything by storm- and all of a sudden I’m not in control of anything anymore. They all revolve around you now. And, like, I try so, so hard to keep a tight grip on my feelings, but every time we’re together I feel myself losing it a little more each time, and… I’m just done. I’m done trying to keep it together. I don’t have it together, and I haven’t for some time now, because…” she trailed off, looking away to blink back the tears stinging her eyes. “Because I’m in love with you, Blake. I’m crazy about you. And it scares me to death knowing that you literally have me in the palm of your hands.”

Blake watched her eyes glisten as she spoke, occasionally catching the tears that would fall with a gentle stroke of his knuckle. He listened intently, valuing each and every word that came pouring out of her soul like a decadent waterfall, proud that he was the only one to see the sight. It’s a peculiar feeling—when you dream of the way someone tells you they love you, and then experiencing it in a totally unexpected, unpredicted way. It came crashing into him like a mortar, flaming and forceful; but it landed him in a field of still victory and a strange euphoria—or in this case, a bed of satin sheets with a dim light from a lampshade. His heart stopped, his lips parted in shock, and his eyes beamed with mutuality.

There were so many recited words he would say when this situation presented itself, but he found himself to be speechless and cowardly. Blake pulled her close to him, his hand tangling in her hair. He tried to steady himself so she wouldn’t feel his pitiful shaking. Blake spoke—securely, meaningfully, and with as much heart as his rasping voice would allow—in a dramatic annunciation: “I. Love. You. Lola.”- which only made the young woman start crying again.

The moment contrasted Blake’s old vision in several ways: there was no music, just stillness; there were no birds, just them; there was no ocean nor view, just the messy bed and the mix of moonlight and lamplight. He continued, “I promise it’ll be okay. I promise I won’t disappoint you, Lola. Just please,” it was hard to talk, “Please let me be that guy. There’s no greater privilege than that.”

And when he asked like that- with those puppy-dog eyes, that intense look on his face, and that desperate, raw honesty in his voice- how did she have the heart to say no?

"If you break my heart, I'll break your face," Lola warned him, trying to look and sound tough and serious yet quickly letting out a watery laugh. It was a legitimate threat, of course, but she knew Blake well enough to be certain it was one she would most likely never have to see through.

And it was her flame that caught him from his fall. The same flame that ignited the night they met, raging whenever he laid eyes on her, and the same flame that now shines a different light. Not just one with hot red and crackling orange, but with foundation of blue and pink and yellow. Blake never experienced love quite like this, or maybe this is what love really felt like and his perception was what was flawed. It took him a little bit to forage his contentment, releasing her from the hug to show her his dimpled, genuine smile. “Lola, if I break your heart—I break my life.”

Lola couldn’t help but laugh, cupping his face in both of her hands and bestowing a sweet, tender kiss upon his lips. As relieved as she was to have finally been open and honest with Blake, it didn’t mean she was comfortable with verbally expressing her innermost musings all of a sudden. Of course, that wasn’t to say she wouldn’t show him how she was feeling. The blonde had always been better at communicating physically anyway.

The pleasurable satisfaction of her kiss helped level out his feelings, the thunderous affirmation of his heart and the crash that followed. Even as she released him from her kiss, he pulled her in tighter for a second one before he laid her on her back gently, the gold chain around his neck dangling down as he hovered above her.

Pulling away with a soft smile, Lola looked up at Blake. “If I didn’t know you better, I’d swear you’re a theater major instead of Accounting,” she teased in an attempt to lighten up the mood of the very deep conversation that had just transpired between them. “You put up a hell of a performance.”

Blake let out an airy chuckle, breathing and kissing against her neck faintly. “Yeah, but they act in theater. I’m not acting right now. Are you gonna let me show you off at this party or what?”

“Not if you keep teasing me like this…” she mumbled, smirking slightly with her eyes closed. “You’re just over here pushing all the right buttons and expecting me to get out of this bed? You know me better than that, sweets.”

His cheeks stretched into a triumphant smile, “I like pushing your buttons.” He kissed again. “Well, the right ones anyway. But if you’re not gonna get out of this bed, then. . .”

Blake lifted her from the bed fast in an attempt to scare her-- which, judging from her loud, surprised shriek, had worked. He was carrying her with her legs around his waist again until they reached the countertop of her en suite bathroom. He set her on the counter gently. “Getting ready time.” He smiled.

And sometime later, the newly-official couple was making its entrance to the party: with a triumphant Blake holding his girlfriend by the hip and a smug Lola with her thumb hooked on his belt loop, her boyfriend’s golden chain hanging from her neck.

In a move that surprised nobody, Theodore had never returned with the promised drinks, having left Madéleine and Bastién to fend for themselves at the party. But contrary to Theo and ever the gentleman, Bas had kept his word in finding his baby sister a place to sit. They fought their way through the crowds of loud, drunk party-goers until finding the perfect seating arrangements, and spent some time joking, laughing and judging those they pleased. It was in times like these that Maddie was grateful life had given her two brothers instead of one. She took comfort in knowing that no matter what happened, one of them would always have her back.

It was the sound of a familiar male voice crying out the name of the baby-blue PowerPuff Girl what briefly interrupted the conversation happening between the Bonfamille siblings. Frowning, Mads' blue eyes carefully scanned their immediate surroundings for the handsome face she knew came along with that voice, and broke into an ear-to-ear grin when she spotted the impeccably dressed, dark-haired male just a few feet in front of them.

"LANCIE!" Madéleine shrieked, jumping up from her makeshift throne and jumping straight into her best friend's arms, failing to notice her brother making his exit. She had missed him dearly during their time away. They hadn't had any real time together since the end of the previous semester, as their respective familial commitments had kept them occupied all throughout their summer. Of course, that didn't mean their bond had lost its strength. "How are you, my sweetheart? What's been going on? I haven't seen you in so long! Gosh, I have missed you so much!" she told him, taking a step away from Lance and grabbing his arm to pull him in the direction of her seat. "Come on this way! We have tons to catch up on!"

An eager Nate followed Jasper and Ramona as they went to see what was going on with the former’s brother and the attractive redhead. They had invested interest in getting to the bottom of it. And Nate did too, in a way, but he was mostly there for the ride. With curious eyes and a curiouser mind, he watched in excited silence, his blue eyes scanning the scene.

No more than a few moments after watching Jasper and Junie exchange glances, Nate would do the same between everyone around. Between Jasper and Junie having a staredown and Mona seeming just as into whatever was happening, he couldn’t help but wonder what the issue was. He was somewhat confused but mostly curious. He wasn’t the most observant guy but even he could tell tension was just as thick as his interest in the female species.

A few eternities later, the tension simmered down like a pot of broth meant to cook for hours on low heat settings. And while he wasn’t against the attention being on him, what poor Nathaniel Blake wasn’t expecting, nor prepared for, was how assertive Mona ended up being with him.

Caught off guard by the shot glass forced into his hand, Nate had almost dropped it but he was able to secure the tiny shot glass in his right index and thumb fingers. He took a snort sniff of it, which told him exactly what he should have known: this brand of alcohol wasn’t good for the senses and needed to be digested quickly.

Wiping off any saliva drooling down his face with his free hand, Nate downed the shot. It burned with a fruity aftertaste that Nate was trying to decide if he was a fan of or not. “How about them apples!?” Nate’s voice came out high and louder than he intended. Instincts took over and he grabbed the top of the bottle with his free hand and chugged it for two seconds, effectively drinking about three or four shots worth of the peach-flavored Vodka.

Nate grinned at both Jasper and Mona, his eyes watering modestly as the burning in his throat couldn’t be denied. At the least, however, he proved Mona wrong and that he could hold his own. “Your move, ladies!” He gestured to the bottle as he gave them his best attempt at a sly grin.

Doing her best to shove any thought of whatever Junie and her brother may or may not be doing, Jasper couldn't help but laugh a little at the look on Nates face after he chugged a bit of the drink. There was nothing quite like the burn of alcohol in the back of your throat, but at least he hadn't started gagging like Jasper thought that he would. The watering in his eyes gave him away just a little, not by much, but enough to cause Jasper to have a half smirk on her face by the time he was done with his drink.

"Not bad... you could do better, but not bad," the dark haired girl said, taking another drink from the tequila bottle she was holding. To be honest, she wasn't quite sure what the shot number equivalent was of how much she drank - only that she was drinking. Shrugging her shoulders at Ramona's suggestion, Jasper screwed the top back on the tequila bottle before speaking. "I'm not opposed to beer pong, but it kinda looks like they already have enough people. Maybe we could play the losers? I dunno."

Looking around the party, she huffed. "Do you guys think it's hot out here? Like not just warm but I mean like hot?"

While at the beer pong table with Connor, Theo couldn’t stop the part of his brain that kept obsessing over his failure to act cool when it came to her. Granted, Theo never had been one to act like normal people. The beats of which he lived his life, going from a slow jazz tempo to black metal drum-blasting, Theo never liked to keep to a singular rhythm. It’s why he favored the buzzing vibrations of a tattoo needle. He could control the pace to match his lifestyle, not the other way around.

As he lamented on that and effectively lost to Connor, he begrudgingly took a sip of the godawful concoction that his friend had made. Whatever it was, despite the horrendous odor emitting from it, something that Theo had unintentionally vocally gagged, he drank nearly the entirety of it from the red solo cup only to gag more on its aftertaste.

“Goddamn, Connor!” There was no facing the disgusted expression on his face. It truly was awful. “Never be a bartender. You have to promise me this!” He punched his friend playfully in the shoulder.

While Theo did his best to get the taste of beer pong surprise to permanently leave the residence of his taste buds. The ginger tried waiting it out and that only proved to be a failure (he’s had a lot of those today), so he decided to take one of the cups that weren’t full of toxic alcohol. When his lips touched the rim of the cup and the first taste of the alcoholic liquid, though it wasn’t Dr. Connorstein’s experiment gone wrong, it was Bud Light, which was probably equal in terms of disgusting flavor (or lack thereof). But Theo preferred this over the “Death to Your Taste Buds” cocktail.

Halfway through it, he started to feel the buzz and just in time because the sight of a tiny, yet larger-than-life, cute Chinese minx came his way with a not-so-jovial look on her face. Not that she was ever happy even when Theo hadn’t ghosted her, but she looked particularly peeved at him. And then there was that one guy with the stupid name. Alvin? Rippy? No, Alaric. Yeah, Theo didn’t know him well but he knew he and Mac were close, so he shrugged when he joined him and Connor.

Heeding Connor’s gestures to his back, Theo placed a hand on the table (though, he made sure to not apply too much pressure on it), he smiled at her. “Sup Mac?” He played it cool, heeding Connor’s non-verbal advice. “What brings you over to our neck of the woods?” He was going down the ‘forget about me bee-lining you’ route and was committing to it, at that!

“Hey! You playing?! How about we double? Me and Al against the two of you nerds?”

He silently cursed but welcomed the challenge. He was buzzed but not drunk yet. “Sure! Don’t whine when we cream you and Ricky here!”

Theo’s proud laugh had lasted only for a few moments and in the awkward transition from his usual demeanor to a not-so-common frustration that quickly built up like a simmering pot of water that was getting lit aflame from all sides, the moment some annoying douche by the name of Cass arrived, Theo’s jealousy came into full swing as he arrogantly commented as Mac had crashed into the man’s chest.

He watched it, trying a calming exercise he saw on Youtube, Theo felt it was failing because he had squeezed the life out of the plastic cup in his hand. That caused the remaining bud light to pour all over his hand and the cup to split into pieces.

He glanced at Connor briefly while Mac was busy and sighed when he was back on Cass and Mac. “Only four people per table. Go find your own.” Theo’s not-so-subtle remark came with an attitude and a show of masculine dominance usually seen in the jungle.

"Might be a bit too late about that whole bartender thing, Theo." Connor slyly grinned beneath his cup.

The game ended before it began as a familiar voice called out to Theodore and Connor. Who would've guessed it to be Mac? Connor's roommate- Alaric bound right behind her. Mac challenged the duo to a beer pong game. It seemed like they were gonna play twos. The blond couldn't hold back a smile as he observed Theo's 'playing it cool' strategy.

"Alaric. Mac. How's it hangin'?" Connor greeted the two. "No hard feelings when we destroy you two."

Mac's clumsy self managed to slam herself onto a tall, dark and familiar figure. Cassian, an acquaintance Connor knew from working a few classes and projects together. Connor acknowledged his presence with a nod as they met each others gaze. Though trying his best to hide it; Theo's anger began radiating around him, hitting Connor in waves. Oh boy. The tension was palpable, you could almost cut it with a knife. He knew all three at a personal level but if push came to shove he'd have to back Theodore up, even if he'd rather the situation not escalate to anything more than petty jabs and passive aggression.

Mac CAN tell, right? He thought, watching the situation unfold. For now he would sit back, if it went to far he'd try his hardest to de-escalate it. However one look at the three men who look to be pining for the same girl shows that might not be possible. Hell this whole event had already formed a small peanut gallery, gawking and giggling amongst themselves as they watched.

The first thoughts going through her head was how much hers was hurting after it made direct contact with Jade's beautiful face. Joey was in a lot of pain sure and maybe had some sort of injury in her future, but for the moment, she was just happy to be near someone who didn't take off as soon as they saw a certain behemoth. And joey giggled, though with a wide smile, though clearly wincing through the pain, as her friend seemed worried about her. Joey brushed it off. It wasn't so much the collision that made her wince but the dizzy aftermath that came as a result and she just had to...forget.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine!" She again smiled, grabbing a drink from the table her hands were using to support her unsteady legs. "I just need something to drown this killer headache." Like a vulture clad in a neon leotard, Joey's bright eyes widened when she saw there was some bourbon left. The fact nobody had laid claim to that bottle was amazing. She reached across the table, popped the cap off after a few frustrating moments of struggling with it, and took a hefty swig of it straight from the bottle. "Now that's better!"

Up until she took those swigs of the bourbon, Joanna didn't feel like she was gonna enjoy herself. Feeling isolated and neglected by Lottie, her mind began to retreat back to the mindset she was back when she was a teenager. She felt enabled by all of the party vibes and party favors. At some point, she had pocketed some E in case she felt like upping her mood and blocking out certain feelings. She wasn't sure if she was going to pop them in her mouth and let the tablets do its chemical magic. Even as she held the bottle of Bourbon Whiskey in one hand, she thought about it. Like really considered it.

She wanted to forget for a while and felt something in her stomach churning as if the tension of the moment and pairing that with the music playing in the background, Joey felt like a teen again where everything but the moment was blacked out. She felt like a teen again because the closer she came to despair, the closer she was to throwing caution into the wind, which made Joey pull out one of the self-described "happy pills" from inside her neon outfit. She looked at the little Dimebag and bit her lip. Maybe it was because she had trouble knowing he limit in the past or unsure if it was the right decision but she just wanted to not feel the pain she was right now.

And like in the past, without giving a moment's notice, Joey's instinct took over as took out the lavender-hued pill and placed it on her tongue. With another swig of the burning whiskey to wash it down, Joey just let it work its magic. Maybe it was mind thinking there was an instant effect or what, but as Joey turned around, she first smiled a little less than she had been at Jade, seeing the girl's sweet, caring smile and that only made the colorful and spirited Joey overcome with the giggles. She walked closer to Jade and tenderly grabbed the back of the nape of her neck.

"I'm probably going to regret this," she muttered to herself before planting her lips on Jade's and she immediately felt a euphoric sensation course through her body as though every synopsis in her body was reacting the surge of electricity of that kiss.
