Is it really that strange? You're already in the Casual Roleplays section, so why would you tag it as Casual? Honestly, I figure those sorts of tags would only really pop up in the General Interest Check section. Otherwise it's redundant.
Maybe explain a bit more about how antagonist demon roles will work in the RP? Like, gonna be PvP with death enabled, or what?
Might hop onto this. Been vibing to certain things recently.
Paralyzed, the centipede woman could do nothing but receive the incoming blows, crossbow bolts punching into her face and a weighted chain bouncing off her carapace as Raime and Ari both attacked. Though she had been brutally injured in a single, offhanded attack, the catgirl’s body was unencumbered by her near-death state, and she kept her distance from the slowly dispersing cloud of poison, striking at the maximum range her weapon afforded her. Raime, however, found that his white herbs offered no relief, and the pain continued to linger, the poison eating away at him more and more. His vision was turning red now, his breathing becoming more ragged. His crossbow’s string dug deep into his raw and bleeding fingers, while the cool taste of the Pearl Clovers only overlapped with the toxic burn, rather than relieve it. Perhaps with a persisting effect, the pain relief that Cacophony Concord normally offered didn’t occur. He lost 21 HP regardless.

Things were getting dangerous for Raime now. If no one got any healing for him soon, then it might not be Ari, but rather Raime who was the one to die first.

Lugh, however, was not concerned with any of that. The Lady of the Alabaster Scales had given him her decree, and even with an unsanctified weapon in his hand, he was deadly. The centipede woman, immobilized still, could only let out a horrid shriek as he unleashed a flurry of sword strokes towards her, slicing flesh and shattering teeth, before hefting his sword skywards and swinging down with the might of a giant, cracking her skull and sending her face into the dirt. The poison that he remained inside hardlyh bothered him; 9 points of damage was nothing. Amulak’s arcane shot found its mark as well, blasting open the crack that Lugh had made and exposing the black nothingness that existed within.

The centipede woman’s twenty meter long body shuddered violently, black fumes pouring out of the many wounds she had sustained. With a response like that, the party must have been close to finishing off the monster, but conversely, that meant that the situation became just that much more desperate for the monster. One leg twitched, regaining functionality, and then the other ninety-nine did as well. With a horrid shriek, she tore her face off the ground and lunged for Lugh, twisting her head sideways as she crunched down upon him. More fumes, scarlet now, spewed from the inside of her mouth as hooked armor tore into her gums, but Lugh was restrained as well, clamped down by a vice-like grip that he couldn’t easily break free of, not when his SP had dropped to such low levels. And the centipede woman capitalized on that. Rising twenty meters up, she slammed Lugh into the ground, flipping from side to side as the warrior was smashed through skeletal trees and into the blasted dirt. The rampage, something that Raime witnessed up close, was of such intensity that even as Raime dodged away from each heaving blow, the shrapnel of cracked teeth and splintered wood still caught him, 12 points of damage taken.

For Amulak and Ari though, the rate at which Lugh was losing HP was more terrifying. Even through massively inflated END and an almost full set of equipment, the warrior suffered 143 damage total from the onslaught, and the centipede women wasn’t slowing down at all. No, she was getting greedier.

One hundred legs coiled in unison and kicked off the ground as she torpedoed herself towards Amulak and Ari, intent on smashing them to pulp with Lugh as her human shield.

The blue oni grunted with approval, and even bared his teeth at Ames’s hesitant response towards eating the offered food. It certainly didn’t taste good by human standards, even if meat sashimis such as horse or beef had become more popular in recent years, but there was a light numbness that came with each bite of the bear meat, and as the two continued to chew at it, the flavors of the meat dissolved into a fizziness upon their tongue. Almost like carbonated meat, in a weird but not too uncomfortable way.

It was when Ames offered his halberd, however, that things changed.

A raising of the eyebrows from the blue oni, a burst of empathetic speech from one of the red onis, then a rapid-fire discussion amongst the three as they passed the weapon around. Finally, they raised their fists, shook it three times, then splayed open those fists into different shapes. The slightly slimmer red oni shouted out, slapping his hand against his chest, and took the halberd; the others rolled their eyes, but seemed to assent to this. Raising up his new weapon, the red oni took a deep breath, twirled it around a couple of times, before, with a mixture of savage strength and surprising skill, butchered the bear’s corpse into five separate pieces, two of the pieces smaller than the others. The trio of oni hefted up the larger pieces on their shoulders and back, before walking off, with the blue oni looking back at Ames and Magpie only to twist his head in the direction they were travelling and say, “Roife.”

What the two Immortals were to do with this situation was unclear still, but they didn’t have long to decide, if, for whatever reason, they wanted to follow. Though the Thunderstruck Grove hadn’t been murderous so far, the fog was still dense, and the oni had already become but mere shadows in the distance.

Strict was good; even though he was aware of the allowances for poor etiquette that came with being an other-worlder, Otis hadn’t spent two weeks prior to coming to Earth soaking in Japanese culture just to end up a cultural barbarian at the end of it. In his usual outfit of tawny brown and patterned reds, he strode through the estate with purpose, having committed the layout of the estate by heart since yesterday. Esoteric runes of demon destruction weren’t so common in Arcanis, not when paladins and clerics in the capital city were capable of utilizing holy magic without preparation, but learning more techniques was never a bad thing, and honestly, Otis wasn’t so interested in the other forms of forging.

After all, bullets that needed to be used more than once were no longer bullets.

“Good morning. I'm Otis Tan Arillo,” Otis called out crisply, eyes flickering about the forge. No one else from the class was there, but it was to be expected. There were so few in the class to begin with, and so many different options to appeal to everyone else. “I don’t know how to make Japanese longswords. But inscriptions are good. That’s what I’m here for. Why meteorites though? Are there yokai in space? Or is it about height? Tried mining in Mt Everest yet? Hrm…” Absentmindedly, Otis caught the chisel, grazing his thumb against the sturdy, sharp edge. It was symmetrical. Nice. His nose twitched, taking in the sharp scent of old metal.

“Why look for substitutes in Arcanis? Do your chisels break down as quickly as your Japanese longswords? Or is this all experimentation? Do different chisels of different metals make different effects?”

Even when the instruction began properly, the questions didn't stop, sometimes shooting out in a sharp burst, other times in a deluge of curiousity. He wasn't going to be here in Kyoto for long, after all, so Otis had to maximize on his knowledge-gathering while he could.

Shame that Ko disappeared though. Now he had no co-conspirator for post-curfew exploration.

Was it kind of them to help, or did they just need to release all their stress after their encounter with the demon-flower turned out to be much more benign than Nick's doomsaying? Isidore didn't linger on what thought processes drove his acquaintances to act. If they were going to be here, there wasn't much to be said, after all.

Just gonna make it quick then.

The plant-like blades could no longer harm him, and Isidore took advantage of that immediately, blocking the swing of the closest creature with his left forearm, before locking that arm into place. Sword still burning bright, he skewered the monster through the chest, black blood bubbling against the hilt of his sword before, with a grunt, he drew the sword upwards and split the monster from stomach up. As two halves spread to either side like a blooming flower, Isidore pushed the corpse away and charged for the one he had injured first. Some pressure was felt against his neck, no doubt from the fifth, unmarked monster, but it was meaningless. Within this hour, he was unkillable.

The one with the lacerated back, though aware and ready for combat, wasn't going to have much opportunity for revenge. He closed the gap in three steps, drawing its attention to his sword. They learned fast, gained experience quickly, had intelligence beneath humans but beyond animals. But Isidore was never one to use a single winning strategy, whether in business or at the poker table. With an open palm flicker jab, he splashed droplets of his blood on the creatures face, and then closed his fist, visualizing the ignition of his lifeblood to immolate the creature.

And then for good measure, he drove his sword into its neck, whether its face was on fire or not.

Rather than wind, it was the warmth of sunshine that filled Lugh’s body, his feet becoming lighter, movements swifter until he caught up to the creature. Physical energy spiking, the warrior-priest found himself side to side with the centipede woman’s face. Up close, the size of her head was just as large as him, and his staff rang out brightly as he delivered consecutive blows to her jaw. One blow clanged against teeth, chips of white scattering against face, while the other one struck the cheek, deforming flesh.

Raime unleashed his flurry of strikes as well, the pain that wracked his body dissipating as his dagger bit into the tough flesh of the centipede woman’s tongue. It was much tougher that he had expected, like cutting into a freshly-butchered piece of meat using a dull knife, and black vapors escaped from the lacerations in lieu of blood. But the rhythm was there still, and a gurgling shriek sounded, the pain giving enough pause for Ari to gather herself.

Slow as she may have been in this fight of monsters and Immortalss, the cat girl was still incredibly dextrous by human measures. Her free hand hooked onto the ringed pommels of five of her throwing knives, whipping them out with haphazard speed into the monster’s maw. The blades spun through the air, two deflected by the oversized teeth but the remaining flying into that blender of teeth within the centipede woman.

It looked like the monster had to commit to the fight after all.

Raime read the twitching of the tongue and dove downwards right as the thick muscle swung overhead. His Wargtooth dagger sliced into the meat, a deeper cut made by utilizing the creature’s own attack against it, but on the other end of the tongue, Ari found herself being tossed into the air, flying right towards Amulak. She crashed into the mage right as his spell launched out, but the mage’s might was such that even a flying catgirl couldn’t knock him down. They both received only 13 damage, but the significance of that differed from one to the other.

Lugh, closest to the centipede woman, saw Amulak’s Spell Spear gather above, as well as the fumes bubbling within the monster’s maw too. Noxious fumes burst out from her mouth, blanketing the area in front and around her with a flesh-corroding poison. Bearing the brunt of the blast, the warrior could feel exposed portions of his skin being to peel away, 27 points of damage dealt even through his tremendous END and his armor. It was the cry of agony behind him though, that reminded Lugh that others were less well-armed than he. Raime was choking on his own saliva as his flesh felt like it was melting within the white mist. Even though Lugh had physically dispersed the stream of poison, the scout still found himself 53 points of health lower, and he was Poisoned as well, his lungs burning and heaving, but unable to push out the poison that he had breathed in.

Before the centipede could take advantage of either of their moments of weakness, however, the Spell Spear crashed down, scattered against her skull with force enough to drive her jaw into the ground. Her tongue snaked back into her mouth and her one hundred legs twitched in an attempt to bring her back up, but those bodily spasms were all that she could do as magical restrictions drove themselves like stakes into her nervous system.

She was Paralyzed. If they wanted to escape, now was the time to do so.

As Magpie continued her own dances, this time with Ames providing both music and backup moves, the blue oni’s grin intensified. Behind him, the red brothers stood up, sauntering forwards to hand over an iron club to their ringleader. Hefting it upwards, the blue oni began to slam the weapon against the ground, harmonizing with the bright chiming of Ames’s bells with the deep thud of the club. Having become the rhythm master, it was up to the red brothers to pick up the dancing slack, and they did so with violent bombast, popping, locking, contorting, bending, in a war dance.

Even without a common language between them, different races could still enjoy themselves with a simple beat and a willingness to get stupid.

Time passed, but within the mist of the Thunderstruck Grove, it was uncertain how much had passed. Sweat had built up on all of them by now, flesh slick and underclothes damp from their labor and recreation. Finally, the blue oni barked out, the red brothers stopping on a final pose that saw them in a wide squat, fingers splayed and arms parallel as they tilted their heads back to look down at Magpie and Ames from their noses.

Such an intimidating posture only lasted for a moment or two, before the three broke down into booming laughter. The blue oni reached out into the bowels of the dead bear and, with a crack and a tear, pulled out two ribs, glistening with raw meat and yellowed fat.

“Ku!” he called, pointing the ribs at the Immortals.

The Mountain Man’s grim task continued, his cleaver striking deeper and deeper into the tree even while the petals continued to fall. All around, the groaning and creaking of the roots continued to haunt him, taunt him, but the viscous sap and the growing gash in the tree warmed his heart somewhat. There was progress being made here, and as a Mountain Man, he was uniquely positioned to be very good at destroying nature. He continue to attack, and after great effort, began to heave himself against the tree, all the muscles in his body working to uproot this demon. A herculean task, perhaps, but Klein was a herculean man.

The wood groaned. The wood creaked. His SP continued to drop for no discernible reason, but he persevered still!

And with a final roar, he sent the tree crashing down, the trunk falling against the wall of woven roots, the wispy petals finally dispersing! Though it hadn’t brought him a level up, Klein had done it! He had brought down a monster within the Thunderstruck Groves all by himself, and only as a sub-level 20 Immortal at that!

He noticed, then, that his SP was still dropping.

His gaze slid towards the stump that remained.

There was a spine there. A human spine. Rendered into beautiful detail by his realistic perception and his consent towards gore. It was severed in half, as if by a cleaver, and looking down, he saw the rest of a human’s lower skeleton: pelvis, femurs, scraps of clothing, rusted remains of a weapon.

The rustling of phantom leaves sounded, and the roots that enclosed him continued to weave their cage.

Well then, that was that.

His nose crunched up once more as the sweetness intensified, but Isidore grabbed the massive seed anyways, pocketing it. More of an egg than a seed, from his reckoning; even the great oaks back home sprung into life from something much smaller. He turned to the others, tilted his head in the direction of the exit, and strode off.

Forty five minutes left at this point. He’d have to make use of it while he could.

Tendrils and vines snaked upwards, the chambers and staircase rumbling as the demon flower moved to honor its part of the deal. With its child in tow, it had no recourse but to obey, after all, even if that meant challenging the warden that kept it locked in here. And as for Nick...through the enhanced eyesight that his own energies provided him, Isidore didn’t catch any sign of the brunette’s corpse amongst the five shambling monsters that laid ahead. More thralls of the garden, perhaps? The flower really didn’t keep its children well-disciplined.

He breathed in, but this time, only so he could speak.

“Augusta, Donovan, keep running. I’ll catch up.”

Those plant-like blades had been potent once, but now that his death-defying will was made manifest, it would no longer harm him. Not to the extent where he needed to play as safe as he did before. Not to the extent where the others will have to assist him in the slaughter.

Bringing his blade up, Isidore drew his left palm against the ancient edge, the ice-hot kiss of a cut further bolstering his armor’s defenses as scarlet stained the arming sword. That scarlet turned a bright red, then burst to flame after, infused with the crackling heat of his soul. A sword of fire, straight out of fiction. What would his wife think, if she saw her husband gallivanting like this?

Probably yell at him for inflicting such a pointless injury.

Mirth flickered, then faded, the cold calm settling back on his features.

And then, Isidore launched himself, a flurry of flame and steel, his armored forearm concerned only with protecting his vital organs as he slashed at the parasitized experiments.
Virtual mana veins fired up within Amulak’s body again, shearing away only a small portion of the reservoir that now made up his mana pool. Directing it upwards, he crafted a spear of arcane energies above the centipede woman’s midsection and dropped it down. The earth itself cracked from the force of the magical attack, the feedback of that sensation of ‘release’ sending shivers up the mage’s arms. He could see clearly as those same energies seeped through the centipede woman’s exoskeleton and into her own veins, working to paralyze her body. But her body was long, and her feet were many. Even as six of them twitched, unmoved, ninety-four of them still propelled her towards Raime.

The ranger was not her meal for tonight though. Muscular, stocky men had stringy, tough flesh; from experience, the centipede women knew that it was Immortal women, their bodies sculpted to perfection within the Upper Realms, who held the tastiest flesh.

Raime’s reflexes and speed, a single step faster than the monstrous woman before him, afforded him the ability to narrowly avoid getting gored by her over-sized teeth. Half his body collided with her boulder-hard cheekbone instead, and his physical resilience was unable to withstand such tremendous force. Launched ten meters, he crashed into the branches of a thorny bramble, chest heaving but lungs painfully unable to draw in air as his health dropped by another 57 HP.

And Ari, for all her speed, found herself arrested all of a sudden by something warm, something wet. The centipede woman’s split tongue wrapped itself around her arm, her blackened eyes narrowed into sadistic slits as her mouth opened wider and wider. There were teeth inside too. Lining the roof of her mouth, the throat, the uvula, the esophagus. Pinkish flesh, pulsating in anticipation.

With a shlurp, the tongue retracted, and the cat girl was pulled towards that gaping maw.

Certainly, it was a bold move, stepping out to the open and breaking out into dance. At the very least though, Magpie didn’t dance poorly. Her accelerated sense of time hadn’t yet kicked in, but her control over her body was on point as her forearms flicked in and out, as her body gyrated like a blender, as her feet went fast against the ground.

Throughout her entire dance, the three oni watched, their expressions unreadable to a human. But as she settled down, the blue one rose up. He slapped his belly once, drained the last of whatever noxious alcohol was in his flask, and then spewed it out into a fine mist above him. Raising his hands upwards, he allowed himself to be purified in the spirits, before raising one leg straight up. Skywards.

BOOM.

His foot struck the ground like lightning, a shockwave that blew Magpie’s hair back. Behind the tree, Ames had to cover his own ankle bell, lest they chime in the wake of thunder. The two red oni beside him bared their teeth, still bloodied from the meal they partook in, as the blue one’s hands clenched into fists that could shatter mountains.

Silence suffused the space.

His fists swung out to one side. His arms and shoulders began to rotate.

His fists swung out to the other side. His arms and shoulders rotated even faster.

He raised them upwards again, sliding sideways as both booty and belly jiggled in a blur of movement.

Was this…also a dance?
@Yankee@OwO

He had escaped. With a chop of his cleaver, Klein was free!

But, like any horror movie, it was always the buff ones who professed that they had no fear of the monster that chased them. The ones who took the fight to the monster. The ones who died, if not first, then certainly second. Perhaps the mountain man had drowned himself in his fears so much that he had missed out on that particular trope.

Regardless, in deciding to press the attack, he had lost his opportunity to escape.

You make crafting this nightmare so easy…

The giggling of children sounded in the boughs of the blooming tree as the Brutal Cleaver drove itself deep into the tree’s trunk, a force that shook some of the petals loose. They fell down, the kiss of their forms against his skin gentle and warm, before dissolving soon after. The sap that seeped out from the tree was a dark green, while the crick-crackling of the roots behind him alerted Klein to the fact that a fence of thick roots now enclosed him in close combat with the tree.

A tree that continued to bloom and shed these pink petals.

His health had yet to fall, but something else did in its place.
@Shovel
Isidore did not turn his gaze from the flower bud up above, even with the flurry of violence and the deathly voice that emanated from the corpse. Perhaps it was a pointless display of fearlessness to such an alien creature, but his old habits died hard. In the face of danger, he cooled down as others tensed up. The man kept a tight grip on his sword, kept an eye on his surroundings, and then spoke up, bold and clear.

“What can you offer us in return?”

“Speak...difficult. You want...away. We know out. Lead. Or...reestrain the stone.”

Its disjointed speaking was likely hard to follow. Perhaps it was proposing it knew a way out, or that it could hinder the giant in some way? Of course, helping to revive an obviously demonic being couldn't possibly come back to haunt them at any point in time.
“If...disapprove. Then must...feed. Hunger. Satiate. Must grrrrrow.”

Don grimaced at the demon’s offer. Were this creature anything else, he himself may have even been perfectly happy to cooperate with such a deal… But planting a brand new demon factory? Hell. Fucking. No.

It was bad enough that this hellish garden was threatening to spread beyond the prison; as the guardian would most likely be able to outlast whatever limited food and other resources the garden had access to. Taking a fresh seedling to plant in an area where it could actually thrive? That was just asking for trouble.

"Augusta." Don hissed to the elf in a hushed tone as he brought himself close to her; his eyes scanning the many vines around them for any signs of movement. "I think yah missed somethin’ on meh earlier. Could ya take another gander?" Hopefully, between her eye, and his newly acquired powers of purification; the girl would understand what he was suggesting.

Augusta stood back and considered her available options. Of course, there was the suggestion the demon gave. Help it, it helps us. There was the inferno option she was sure Don was suggestion. Perhaps there was another option but she wasn’t thinking of it at the moment. Perhaps she could get more information out of it. A quick glance at Don’s information again showed a bit more information about something new but… Well, that wouldn’t help anyone involved.

“Personally, I have no concerns with helping.” The elven woman mentioned, looking fairly calmly between Isidore and Donovan. “My concerns lie after that, however. I wish to know why you were sealed down here, Flower Demon. I’d rather not get myself involved with something As Augusta glanced at Don once more, his information seemed mostly the same, except one little extra added detail in the status and ability section.

It seemed like the ability had more to say about the whispers, but something seemed to currently be blocking Augusta's sight.that could end the world that I’ve just started to find my way in.” She crossed her arms with a seemingly different line of thought than the others.

Isidore’s eyes flicked from side to side, glancing at Donovan and then at Augusta. Though the proposal of the demonic flower was interesting, it was bland too, and the threat of death was pointless as well. Assistance in escaping from that oversized warden may be beneficial, but considering the movements of that stone giant, it wasn’t impossible to do so without demonic aid either. His hand moved upwards, towards his mouth, and then dropped down again. Right, no smoking.

“Two more things,” Isidore said, raising two fingers up on his left hand. “What happens to you when we take the seed? Is this dog more loyal to you or to us? The more you tell, the more...mutually beneficial an agreement we can form.”

“Before death. Lived. One was...buried here. Old humaaaaans, could not survive on surffaface. Lifeless. Kiiiiiled. Imprisoned. Experimented. Must...replant surface...only sssssource. Thought...purify? But not part of.” It turned its head back towards Isidore. “ Iiif leave...death. No food. Starvation. Wilting. No caretaker. But seed wiiiil not.”

While it seemed sociable, it didn't seem to know what exactly Isidore and the group wanted to know. Augusta already confirmed it had limited intelligence, likely only being able to relate what was a danger to it, and what would help it survive.

“Kkkr, What...does human wish to t-talk? Beast was...garden. Is garden. Part of. Only used to...talk.” If Augusta had remembered what it said about not owning octavia, then it was likely this 'Garden' was the one who currently had control over the pup.

Don’s brow furrowed as he rubbed his chin in thought. If the garden was indeed already dying-- then that meant sending away the seed was meant to be its ‘last hurrah’. All things considered; the large man had come up with a plan, one that would minimize any potential threats to the group, while still denying any further quarter to this monstrosity that sat before them. "Aye agreeh tah yer terms." Don said, nodding slowly. "Aye’ll carryeh th’ seed to fertile ground, and in rehturn you restrain th’ guardian. Deal?"

“With one addition,” Isidore said. “Relinquish control of the dog to us.” He could see the line, the boundary here, and would not trust another’s hound. Not if Donovan’s swift agreement meant the man planned to destroy the seed once they were out of this monster’s reach. “Augusta, any other demands to make?”

“Oh? Any other demands?” Augusta questioned, looking at the man who requested control of Octavia. “Perhaps just that if we do this, there will be no harm brought to the world above.” She was mostly happy with the demand Isidore laid out. “I can think of none aside that and what you mentioned. Octavia’s such a cute pup so I wouldn’t mind keeping her.” The elf mentioned with a smile. “But none aside. I believe that this deal would benefit us all, would it not?” She was sure to keep wary of Octavia after witnessing what exactly happened when one was infected with the black blood but it seemed to be a fine deal so far.
