<Snipped quote by KoL>

I did, I thought. I never said people other than her couldn't wield it, I said that it was so heavy it was difficult and bizarre to use. The blade becomes weightless when swung in clean arcs, which is how Yui uses it. Okinami isn't actually a sword meant for brutes, it's a sword that relies on perfect technique. A brute would be thrown off balance because the blade can shift from near weightlessness to super heavy in a split second.

The point of the sword is its weight, sort of. It's not just a big sword that cleaves things in twain because it's big. It's supposed to be a sword that's used with non-standard forms. A second body rather than an extension of the arm, so to speak.

And Yui isn't supposed to be a master of it. She has some aptitude, but she's still supposed to learn how to perfectly use it.

None of this really makes much sense, in my opinion. The description of the weapon doesn't even mention how it is able to become "weightless" since it would need some kind of mechanism to work like that. This isn't fantasy, but rather sci fi so things need an explanation, even if it's one that requires suspension of disbelief to work.

On that subject, if the blade becomes weightless, it's contradicting description because its weight will be useless if it loses it while being swung. You can't really disregard conservation of momentum like this without an explanation that fits the setting.
PS: here are some examples of relatively common types of enemies though.

The first ones are mostly melee attacks that come in packs, while the latter are more specialized types with well-rounded abilities that generally don't attack in large groups since they are kind of elite units.
Just a quick question on the topic of the invaders, if that's no problem. What exactly do they look like, and what are they capable of in a combat scenario? My sample post might make use of them, as long as that doesn't cause any issues, and I want to make sure that I'm not portraying them inaccurately.

There are many types of them, the only thing they seem to have in common is the desire to destroy everything. As far as appearances and combat capabilities go, it varies too much between different kinds.
<Snipped quote by KoL>

That was more of a spitball. It's stated that people have higher physical prowess from psychic capabilities, and I didn't really see a quantifiable strength I could compare it to. Didn't know how hard I was supposed to go, so it's been nerfed down to the weight of a normal small person.

People with psychic abilities can be stronger than normal, indeed. However, you wrote down that even a strong Striker would have difficulty handling that weapon without providing any explanation about how she could do so when not using her transformation. The logical conclusion is that she can't use her own weapon when not transformed based on your description alone.

The weight was indeed excessive for a weapon that seems to be just a simple big stick, a sword of that size that weighed more than 8 pounds would already be impractically heavy IRL, just for the sake of comparison.
Well, this place certainly got much more active in the last few hours than I was imagining. Anyway let’s begin with the important stuff.

@MsMorningstar
Your character is ok with me as well. You can more her to the CS tab.

@OliveYou
As long you are sure that you wanna play a character that has little to no combat abilities, she’s ok on my end. Wait for @TheWindel’s opinion.

And I'm guessing students can't take their Armaments out of school grounds? Is there a similar lock in place for their psychic powers?

As a rule of thumb they should leave their Armaments behind when they are out of duty, unless given the authorization to bring them out. Locking powers is possible, but too shady so that doesn’t happen normally.

@Burger
From what I’m understanding, there’s no way that your character can wield such a heavy weapon without relying on her transformation, which lasts for short periods. It makes no sense if she can do so.

I suggest you review that before I can give her the green light.

@Saltwater Thief
I like her simple but effective build. She’s ok with me. Just wait for @TheWindel’s opinion.

I suppose you can keep her as a Striker.

I suppose I could switch over to gunner as well. But do you think we're set as far as native Japanese?

That would be appreciated. Also, you don’t need to do a Japanese character if you don’t want to, that was just a suggestion to make things more balanced.

Just going to throw in a post that I'm currently linking up a Linker, if that's no problem. I'd say it's around halfway done, and it should be ready pretty soon, hopefully.

You’re welcome.

@datadogie
Your character is ok with me. Just wait for @TheWindel’s opinion.
@AdmrlStalfos19

On a second thought, you can go forward with that idea. We can just make the monsters react to pain normally.
@KoL@TheWindel

So... I'm thinking Striker with the ability to transfer the pain he feels from an attack to the enemy that delivered it, on the condition that his body still takes the damage. Would that be acceptable, or should I try to think of something else?

Well, it's acceptable, in concept. However, this is an ability that'll see pretty limited use since the invaders are too alien to have any concept of pain at least in the same way as normal creatures have.

If you are ok with it not seeing much use in combat, you can go ahead with the idea.
By the way, people. I know there's the option to be from other nationalities other than Japanese, but we would like to see at least a few native students. It would feel pretty weird if the cast of the RP ended being composed of an effective minority of the student body.

We aren't demanding such a thing but if you could find in yourselves the idea for a more balanced mix between natives and foreigners, it would be very appreciated.
First of all, let me make a general announcement, since I don't think I mentioned this yet. The teams will be chosen by us, mostly based on random chance to make things fairer for everyone. Also, just in case that anyone that's still indecisive wants to see what has already been made we'll add a counter with the listing of the numbers of characters of each class in the CS tab. Please, try to keep the numbers more or less balanced between each of the three roles/classes to make team forming easier.

Also, I'd like to say that we are likely going to begin the IC this weekend, so you can get yourselves psyched up for that.

Now, for the next thing:
@Mr Nim
Your character is alright, you can move her to the CS tab.

@HeroicSociopath
No problem, we will take a proper look at your character as soon as he's completed.
@SimpleWriter
I think your character is ok. Just wait for @TheWindel's opinion since the shark has a few questions for you.

@ERode
Your character is alright as well. Again, just wait for @TheWindel's final say on him.

Cool. Just so I have a better understanding of how my character's backstory will function, could you go over how people get into the 2nd Tactical Academy to begin with? Are there standardized tests for psychic power shenanigans out there? Does the government go around detecting the mutations of babies when they're born and slap them with some sort of psychic potential grade?

It's mostly a normal military academy in terms of applications. Prospective students will apply, be tested and approved or not based on their score. A few special cases may get in through recommendations or special cases but this is pretty rare. A common man can perfectly fit there as long as they can pass a written exam, as well as a physical and psychological evaluation, all of which are pretty tough but not impossible to overcome.
