Called into action - by threats that seem harmonized

Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

The sight of Cici staggering like a puppet with her strings cut should have alarmed Olivie, but the pain that flooded her dulled her perception. At the very least, she knew, the Sylveon wasn't stringing the other girl along any longer. Even knowing that she should be relieved that the situation didn't demand a real fight, Olivie still couldn't muster up the strength. Beside her, her Nidoran stared at her with wide, confused eyes. Bernard's Pokemon seemed less sympathetic, and instead scanned the forest for any lurking threats. While Cici started to speak, dazed and confused, Olivie coughed out a spurt of noxious purple bubbles. The questions of the person she helped to rescue didn't reach her, and when Cici attempted to take action, her own affliction put her down just as quickly. Neither could retake command of their senses, but whereas Cici's condition got better moment by moment, Olivie's grew worse.

Lo and behold, a dashing hero appeared on the scene in a show of luck fit for fairy tales. He examined both girls as he jogged up, noting their less than optimal health. Helpfully, he asked the two what happened, and when Olivie tried to croak out a plea for help, only another discharge of poison bubbles came out. Her legs slid out from under her and she fell onto her hands, arms shaking wildly. No doubt confused by the lack of answer, Cici asked her what happened as well, and Olivie didn't even try to respond. Second by second, her life trickled away; her ace in the hole against the fairies' curse had become her own countdown.

All the while, Painkiller stood by, still as a statue. The steely stolidness of the Bisharp, combined with the cold look in his eyes, suggested that his loyalty went as far as his true trainer commanded. Scylla the Tentacruel, meanwhile, watched Olivie curiously. She knew but could not, of course, say that a move like Heal Bell or Aromatherapy could cure Olivie of poison. Failing that, an Antidote would suffice. All three were measures taken by past opponents against her poisons in the past, so the curious and calculating jellyfish remembered them well. Regardless, the call to action lay on the present humans. If they couldn't cure the brunette or get her to a clinic in time, the results would be dire.

The mattered has been sorted out. The new arrival has graciously agreed to back out for now, and Plank's character will take the empty slot as planned.
@Lugubrious

Any luck finding someone for our fourth member?

Not yet. Time to turn my search public.

Since Asuras bailed, does anyone know someone else you might want in?
Abel Fulgurate
@Eklispe

Immediately, Abel discovered that he'd presumed too much. The ordinarily-cheery ray of sunshine known as Krysanthe had turned downcast; evidently the guardian's estimation of her team's cohesion lay way off the mark. No amount of wanting would make it possible to stuff those errant words back in, though, so crafted a resolution to say the right thing the next time. A moment later, Abel's companion brightened herself up again anyway, and the guardian felt relieved that his thoughtless comment hadn't provoked something more dire. He nodded in affirmation, sure that such a charismatic person would be able to smooth things over for her team. A pang of jealousy prodded him when he realized that he wouldn't be able to do the same. Would Swansong be a house divided for all the years to come, or could there be some sort of reconciliation to unify the four individuals into the team they were supposed to be? That would take someone who knew how people felt and thought, who could inspire and empathize. Abel wanted to, but he could not.

The pair resumed their trek through the forest. All sorts of obstacles barred their way, from fallen trees and babbling streams to more skirmishes with Grimm, though none so atypical as the Redcap. Time slipped by; Abel ruminated repeatedly on how enjoyable the semi-combative hike was, and how the minutes never seemed to drag on. After a little while, he asked Krysanthe. “So...where are you from?”

The minute mannerisms of Ferris did not escape Ozpin's notice, but neither did they present cause for Ozpin's stately expression to change. Instead, Beacon's Headmaster returned the slight inclination of head to the new student in acknowledgment, then in the span of a few moments gave a short glance to each person present as if taking a final stock. “I'll leave you to your rest,” he intoned in a soft voice. “Farewell.” Ozpin then took his leave, returning the way he came to the tune of his cane's steady click against cobblestone.

Infirmary – some time later

@Awesomoman64@Guess Who

A rhythmic and perhaps now-familiar tap-tap-tap echoed down the corridor of the infirmary. At this time of day, the main lights all throughout the facility had been dimmed so that the natural light could pour in through its plentiful windows. This also meant that the extraordinarily tall shadow of the incoming person could be easily seen through the door left open by Trad. Seconds later, headmaster Ozpin himself appeared in the aperture. A shadow veiled his face, but he wasted no time in stepping into the window's light. Its radiance revealed a look of concern on his face, though one without excessive sympathy—perhaps his concern wasn't directed, as might a nurse's or a mother's, to Robert's health.

“Good morning,” he told the two boys, though he kept his nut-brown eyes on the bedridden redhead. “I am told that you have recovered enough to converse normally. Are you available for a few words...Mr. Fallson?” Placing his cane in front of him, Ozpin clasped both hands over its top, his demeanor plaintive.
Awesome! I got some ideas but first I need to ask a couple of characters some questions.

WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S FAVORITE FOOD!?

I may attempt to make it IRL and send pics. Or something. I have a budget and recently the market place where I could get tiger bones and shark fin is under investigation, so nothing too exotic either! Otherwise I'll just try my hand at a christmas cake or something.

Meat pie.
@Lugubrious I can host it! :D

Do I just put the prompt up so people can know the deadlines and stuff??

Yep! I'll look forward to it.
@Lugubrious i hope my christmas contest idea wasn't buried under the posts!! it could also be a good way to feature the contest system to the newer players, and... free credits for them too. o-o;;

No, it wasn't, but if the idea was that I should host the contest, I missed that. If anyone wants a contest to exist, the surest way to do it is set them up themselves.
I saw that, I've just been putting off replying to anyone. Thank you for making sure though.
The dramatic group pose worthy of an action movie was met with only a silent, irate glare by the entranced young woman. Around her, the entourage of Morelulls blinked in surreal rhythm, jealously protesting those who would dare steal their new friend away. After a few moments, Cici drawled out her dismissal and turned to leave. Olivie eyed the deceptively adorable Pokemon who led her away using ribbons made of flesh. Several of the cruel fairies remained behind during her departure, but they remained still as if waiting. No doubt their flashes would have lulled Olivie, Bernard, and their Pokemon to sleep were they not poisoned, but the pain coursing through their veins kept them awake and alert. Unwilling to let the bewitched trainer slip away, Olivie cracked her knuckles and made to follow.

From the underbrush, a trio of bizarre, alien creatures appeared. They moved as one to block the trainers' path, staring at them with unblinking pitch-black eyes and uncanny, haunting smiles. Around them, wisps of magic revolved, but Bernard responded to the imminent assault with a smug smile, for he recognized these Pokemon. ”Shiinotic—Feyhollow's boogeymen. We made the right choice with the poison. Normally they'd be horrifying to fight, but...Scylla, Sludge Wave.”

With unexpected speed, the Tentacruel became engulfed in a rushing torrent of poisonous slop. It stormed around her like a maelstrom, overflowing with power, and when Scylla slammed herself against the ground, a riptide of sludge surged forth. It crashed into the slow-moving Shiinotic, bowling them over and inundating them with quadruple-effective toxins. Where the wave passed over, the grass was dead and brown, its plants withered. One Shiinotic, however, picked itself up. Olivie, thinking quickly, scooped up her Nidoran and hurled him at the mushroom creature with as much strength as she could muster. As it flew, the venomous rodent someone understood its purpose, and thrust his horn forward to deliver a nasty Poison Jab to his opponent's cranium. It delivered a spiteful sigh of defeat and toppled over, leaving the forest clearing quiet, still, and dark. Most of the remaining Morelull had fled, though some -caught in the sludge wave- lay dying on their sides on the now-noxious ground. Their dimming lights barely illuminated the path down which Cici and the Sylveon had disappeared; Olivie knew where she had to go next. She took a step and doubled over, barely preventing herself from vomiting. The poison had reached her guts. If she had to estimate how much fight she had left in her, she would say just over half. If she was going to save this stranger from the fairies, it would need to be done now.

Hacking violently, the forged onward, making a beeline for the blinking lights in the trees. The rest accompanied her in varying states of health. Bernard, however, collapsed to his knees. Hearing the crash, Olivie span around. "What"?" Immediately her rival's Pokemon stopped and rushed to his side, but he pushed them away. Selecting a pokeball from his bag, he sent out a birdlike Pokemon and said, ”I can't keep going. This poison is too much. You have to do it, Olivie. Painkiller, Scylla: go with her, follow her instructions. Agh! …Delilah, get me to Feyhollows...clinic.” With no hesitation, the Staravia picked her trainer up and ascended to the trees to the skies above. Olivie watched, quietly struggling with her own affliction. There wasn't much time. She started to run.

Moments later, Olivie, her Nidoran, Painkiller, and Scylla burst from the bushes near Cici. ”Hey! We're not done with you yet!” the brunette bellowed.

Working on a post, and I'd just like to take a second to thank @Lugubrious for naming a character with a poignant fate "Mar Millade".

I mean that in the most sarcastic way possible, because goddamn fam. It really removes one's immersion when I have to refer to her by name

'Mar' is spanish for 'ocean', which is associated with the color blue, if that helps.
