The Journey Begins

~ Unknown Mountains ~

Interacted with: @Rune_Alchemist

Why? Why did he trudge forward? Heaven above, his feet and legs burned with exhaustion and his stomach grumbled for sustenance. Nick could barely walk when he reached the base of the mountains. He fell to his knees, filled with immense regret that he did not hunker down for the night back in that forest. He gasped for breaths, inhaling cold air and exhaling hot. Raising his head high, he beheld the mountains' height. Nick knew he was going to die if he tried to climb that. And yet, what choice did he have? There was nary a sign of civilization on his way here.

Nick wondered what to do next. He closed his eyes to give himself a brief respite and room to think. He could--

“Yahooo!~”

His thoughts were broken when he heard a joyful yell. Right after, something big, very big, tumbled down the mountain and landed next to Nick. He had to cover himself from the blown snow debris before discovering that it was some huge humanoid - a giant! Nick was at a loss for words, awed at the sight.

“Ahahah, I thought giants were supposed to be tough! Man you guys are pathetic! Some world-enders you’re supposed to be, ahaha!~”

Nick's gaze went to the voice. It belonged to a woman, fair-skinned but leaning to pale with short, black hair and dressed in red with a black cape flowing behind her. By her side was a large, single-edged sword reminiscent of a cleaver. She was surrounded by three other giants, armed with spears and axes scaled in size to suit them. Despite the giants' towering figures, the woman was not at all worried. In fact, she seemed to be winning this altercation.

The ground rumbled again, and Nick jerked his head to the side to find the fallen giant getting up. It had noticed him and reached out a hand to grab him. Nick panicked. This was the end for him, most definitely, but he could at least try, right? His mind raced and adrenaline pumped in his blood, survival instincts kicking in.

It was a giant so theoretically, Nick would be faster. In fact, he noticed that the hand reaching out to him was a bit slow. Still, a giant's a giant and if Nick ran away, he could still be caught thanks to the giant's range even if it was slow. What Nick could do was use the giant's size against it. He thought of a plan, a risky one but it could work.

Just when the giant was about to grab him, Nick would roll forward before breaking into a dash. Not away from the giant, but towards it. Specifically, he would attempt to run between its legs in an attempt to confuse it. But even if he succeeded, what could he do to fight? All he was really doing was delaying the inevitable. He thought about the woman higher up in the mountain, maybe she could help. But he'll have to shake off this giant for a while to do so.

Nick wondered if it could work, it was certainly a longshot but he had to try it. If he succeeded in running in-between the giant's legs, Nick would summon all his strength to crash himself against one of the shins of the giant. It was an attempt to make the giant lose its footing and at best, make it fall over again. Hopefully, this would give Nick enough time to reach the woman. He would get as close as he could, yelling all the while.

"Help! Heeelp! I've got a huge problem here! Literally!"
~ Fort Daelantine ~

The group ignored Jarde's words. Disheartening, but at least they were now more concerned with finding the dangerous artifact rather than argue who gets it. That is, until Lady Maritza speculated as to who could be Alette the Shark's employers and how they could be enemies of Thaln. Fortunately, Sir Gillian took the lead and pushed the idea of splitting to comb the fort for the artifact.

"We can all circle back to the issue of killing each other after we find the shard. Alette, the Captain, myself and... Billy."
Gillian Reynaud

"Ow, hey!" Sir Gillian grabbed Jarde by the collar and dragged him along as well as Captain Fanilly. Being rude to him was one thing, but was it alright to do this kind of thing with the Captain? He may be a senior knight but Fanilly was still his superior. "Sir Gillian, with all due respect, that's the Captain..."

If no one objected to the plan, then Jarde would be joining Sir Gillian, Captain Fanilly and Alette in searching for the dark artifact in the fort captain's office. Perhaps they could find some clues or leads there, being the seat of the fort's leadership. Although, the place might already have been investigated since a couple of Iron Roses already went inside the fort to check. "... and who's Billy?"
Sorry for the late update. Writing's been hard to me lately. In fact, I will go ahead and say that the next update will be skipping a week again so take your time in posting.

"Please tell me that you're just transporting gold for the bank or something..."
Freyr

"O-Of course, of course! Yes, that's it!" George was fully onboard with your guess, albeit still looking plenty suspicious. "I transport money for bank! You see, I travel alone so no one suspect me. No one pays attention to lone guy with empty-looking chest."

It was clear from Haley's face with her half-lidded eyes that she bought none of it. "All right, if you say so." She shrugged, choosing to leave the matter alone for now. They were getting near to the guild's headquarters and decided not to stir up trouble.

George dropped the two of you near the entrance to the guild before quickly saying his farewells and speeding away. He probably realized that Haley was onto him and did not want to linger in her company any longer.

"You ARE telling me the truth later, right Freyr?" Haley asked, unamused with her wings on her hips.

"Sometimes a little effort, a little knowledge, and a little patience, is all it takes to create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Think, if you had eaten the flour, the cheese, and the tomatoes raw, and by themselves, it wouldn't be nearly as tasty, right? A relationship with a man is similar, if you just grab every man that crosses your path and have your way with him, he'll escape the next day, and you're back at square one, scrambling to look for another man to fill the emptiness in your heart. And you also miss out on all the wonders of a fully developed relationship, like devotion and deep connection,"
Sylvia Altissima

The little monsters watched in silent amazement and anticipation as the sisters' took the lasagna out of the oven and let its cheesy aroma fill the kitchen. After cooling it a bit, plates of the pasta was served to each of the monsters. Drool dripped from their lips as their eyes shone. It was time to eat.

"Ah, it's still too hot!" A Devil Bug complained after attempting to touch the pasta.

"Ah, ah! I know what to do here!" The Giant Mouse that was captured earlier put down her plate and began searching through the kitchen cabinets. She then returned to her group with handfuls of forks, taken without any sort of permission from the Altissima sisters. "We can use these and then blow on the lasanya some more before eating them."

Time passed as the little monsters dined with the Altissimas watching over them, generally making sure they don't cause any trouble as they ate. It was difficult having to deal with this situation mostly alone. Fortunately, the Liliraune would not be on their lonesome any longer.

"Heeey! We're back!" Haley burst into the kitchen with her lover Freyr. "Oh man, what a day we had. Did you know that--" She was greeted by the scene of a dozen or so Large Mice and Devil Bugs eating lasagna pasta on plates, served to them by their guildmates Sylvia and Vivian. The two parties stared at each other before Haley spoke up.

The Siren looked towards the Altissima sisters. "Are we... interrupting something here?"

Keeping It Real 2
~@13org (ADA), @Restalaan (DIT), @AzureKnight (NAG)~

"Your troupe is indeed strong, as was expected. As I was the one who first reached out to you all, allow me to be the one who settles this fight!"
Nagare

Everyone on the field took a step back and watched the Ice Dragon Nagare transform into her draconic form. Once it was done, the Ogre let out a hearty laugh. "Ha! I was wondering when you'd change into your primal form. I was beginning to think you were not a Dragon or were one of those Dragons who swore off changing forever." She then cracked her knuckles. "NOW it's a real fight!"

Nagare charged toward the Ogre, who stood her ground as the rest of her troupe fanned out. Despite seeming like a bunch of muscleheads, they knew that even a great Dragon can do little if she was surrounded. At the very least, the troupe would have an advantage in the fight.

Meanwhile, Reed stood with Ditzy and Ada. "You know..." He started as the last fight commenced. "We can help her out. I mean, it would be against Nagare's wishes, and it would be really shameful, but we can help her out. And if we win, we can get away with it. Mostly, I doubt Nagare would be happy with us then."

Help, Wanted 2
~@AzureKnight (VRA)~

"Listen closely, because I don't like repeating myself. I'm taking Neil and getting out of this place. If you want to be covered in charred cuts, I'll be overjoyed to oblige you - in a more suitable location."
Vară Riemsianne

"Whoa..." Neil was awed by the transformation, even while pinned on the stone floor of the treasury chamber. For a moment, he forgot the scorching heat that engulfed the room to behold the true form of the Fire Demon before him.

Ian, on the other hand, was mostly unfazed. "Awww, but things are just heating up perfectly fine right here. Get it? Hahahaha!" The armored thief laughed at his own joke before deftly leaping away to evade your charge, which at least released his hold on Neil. Despite being covered in armor, Ian was swift like a rogue. As befitting a thief in the night... Sort of.

You smashed through a section of the chamber's thick, stone wall and found yourself in a new area. The kitchen of this building, to be exact. You saw an unlit fireplace, cooking pots and pans, ingredients either collected into bowls or hanging from the ceiling. There were also several barrels of what was probably water or other drinks.

Your monstrous strength and power meant you took no damage from slamming your body against solid rock, only a slight sting as if merely bitten by an insect. "Vară?! Are you okay?!" Neil emerged from the burning hole you punched through, ignoring the flames as best he could as he escaped from Ian. He attempted to approach, but the heat you radiated stopped him. "Ugh! I'm sorry, Vară, but you're really hot right now. Err, literally, I mean."

Next to emerge from the hole was the armored-yet-agile thief. His longsword was brandished and he stood, brimming with confidence. "If your heat managed to cook everything in this room, do you think it'll feed all of Ambran?"
I'll try to get a post out soon.
So, Novak would start praying. Prayer was perhaps, what all gods wanted in some form. Worship. Faith. The attention of mortals. Perhaps it could be said that Gods were even powerless without someone to believe in them. Was this Sage the same? But would it really be as easy as a prayer, when he had been told they didn’t like to involve themselves in mortal affairs?

I guess Nick's Novak now. I hope you don't mind sharing, @Crimson Paladin.

Nick let out a long sigh. "It was worth a shot..." He shrugged.

With the obelisk a dead end, Nick was left with no options but to head south. Establish contact with the people in those mountains and see if they could help him. He thought about going back to Dawn and snoop around some more, maybe even ask Kyrnith about it, but he had bothered the village too much now with him giving little in return. It would be rude of him if he pressed them any further.

Right, Nick would try his luck in the mountains. It was getting late, though, and he was a bit tired from walking all over Dawn looking for clues and trying to help. However, Nick didn't fancy hunkering down on a snow-covered forest with barely anything to use as a bed or shelter. Besides, who knew what could be lurking in these woods. Then again, the same could be said for the road towards the mountains. Regardless, Nick wasn't staying here and his feet were on the move once more.

Nick began his trip to the mountains, following the star that hovered overhead. He prayed and hoped nothing untoward would happen along the way.

"George is a client from the guild. We met a few times before. He is a good man. Got involved with some... slightly less than legal business but he is still a good man."
Freyr

"Ah, a rogue with a heart, huh?" Haley said, assuming the best of George. "So what exactly do you do? 'Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor' kind of thing?"

"Ahhh, sure! Let's go with that."

"At least that is what I hope. It could be a good idea for the guild to try sending someone there just to greet her and try to figure out her reasons for having dealt with Ravager's Rest and her plans for the place."
Freyr

"Meh, I think it is better to just leave well enough alone. But you are free to send someone to check up on place if you really want." George shrugged. "Now where are you two off to? I can give ride if it is not far." The 'merchant' kindly offered.

"We're on our way back to the Guild. I hope it's not too much trouble." Haley replied, already accepting the offer.

"No, no, is fine! I can take you to guild no problem. Hop on in!"

-

And so, you and Haley were aboard George's carriage. It was empty save for a sizable chest which was closed, giving no hint to its contents. You could see that your Siren girlfriend appreciated the ride, slouched over andher feet stretched out. The earlier quest was stressful and she took every opportunity to wind down.

"Whoa!" The carriage then hit a sharp bump that flung open the chest. Inside, you and Haley beheld a hill of gold, sparkling under the moonlight.

"Holy... Look at all this moolah. Is this all yours, George?" The Siren's eyes then narrowed as she began connecting the dots. "Wait a second, has this something to do with your 'slightly-less-than-legal-business'? What exactly do you do, Mister George?" Haley was in interrogation mode and nothing but the truth would stop her.

"Oh, uhh... Bunny man, help!"

For The Cause

"What.... What.....the actual.....fuck!?"
Kira Gigas

"I know you monsters do not have the heart for brutality like this." Maria began, aware of Kira's and most monsters' stance on wanton murder. "But we are fighting a war, and one where the deck is stacked against us. We can give no quarter, because our enemies will give us none."

"I see, our task are done then? Do we have to listen to the plan or will it come at a another date?"
Yang Bethlehem

"Later, we will notify you. You two should rest for now, you did very well. We owe this victory to you." Maria said. "Kayo, ibigay niyo na sa kanila iyong ginto nila. Malaking sako." She ordered the rebels before trotting away on her horse, off to handle other business.

Meanwhile, a rebel showed up carrying a large sack on both his hands. He then gave it to Kira who would notice it was quite heavy, fortunately she had the strength of a monster. "The sack. Full of gold. Able to buy castle, maybe."

The quest was done. Yang and Kira can now go back to the Guild or go somewhere else if they so wish.

The walk back to the cliff with the obelisk was fairly easy. It was where he and a few fellow Outsiders were transported to after escaping that courtyard with the two giants were fighting. Nick wondered who won that fight. While no doubt that both of them wouldn't have hesitated to harm him, he rooted for the golem thing since it looked less scarier and threatening than the black plant thing.

As for his fellow Outsiders, Nick wondered how Augusta and Isidore were doing in the mountains. Taking a glance over, the two stars still twinkled over the snowy peaks. Maybe he should've went with them after all, but what was done was done. Still, the mountains might be his next destination if nothing changes his course.

It was getting late when Nick reached the obelisk. The sun sank below the horizon as the scent of oceanwater filled his nose again. The black pillar casted its dark shadow over Nick who pondered on how to establish contact with the 'Sage'. Clasp his hands in prayer, just like how he did back in Earth when talking to the Heavenly Father? Well, it was worth a shot.

Nick brought his hands together and closed his eyes. He began whispering his words, "Great Sage. Though I am not of this land, nor this world, nor do I even have a sacred Moonblossom with me, I still pray to you for aid. Please answer my call."
