✴Appearance:

Houki Orimura isn’t usually considered the notable type. Apart from her short stature and prim-red glasses she keeps around at all times, she’s not that much distinguishable from the typical Japanese school-girl. Most of her outfits reflect this appropriately, Houki often seen in whatever uniform of the school she’s attending. Due to her Quirk however, her glasses are all of the same brand and material, made of the toughest to hold back bullets.

Perhaps at some point in her life, Houki was self-conscious in the demeanor her looks gave off or how "nerdy" she could appear. But with the power that came with Quirks, she frankly had bigger problems to be dealing with than personal image. As a result, she solemn changes her appearance, choosing to forsake additions such as make-up and other cosmetics. She's fine with coming across as a bookworm; controlling her Quirk is more prioritizing anyway.

✴Quirk:

Houki’s Quirk is called Death Glare, an Emitter-Type Quirk. This Quirk allows Houki to emit red beams from her eyes by glaring; the more intense her glare is, the more focused and deadlier the beams become. At the moment, the beams are only hot enough to melt through thickened wood. Each beam has width and volume similar to a soda can’s and she can only fire two, one for each eye, at the same time.

The more she uses her Quirk, the more Houki suffers from intense, painful migraines. These migraines may become so great that she is unable to use her Quirk for some time until she recovers with rest. Prolonged overusage will cause her to pass out. Her glasses are natural deterrents to her Quirk, made of dense enough material to keep small beams from passing through. A misplaced scowl only results in broken glasses and more money spent in fixing them.

• Given its reputation, why apply to Kokoro Academy:
  “Eh? Well, that’s…um, I believe that a Hero can come from anywhere. Anyone with a Quirk, big or small can do it, right? And all Heroes have Quirks, so it shouldn’t matter where you graduate from. Heroes all have the same mission at the end of the day and that’s to protect people! So, it doesn’t matter what school you went to…even one with Kokoro Academy’s reputation.”
• Why do you want to be a professional hero:
  “Me? Well…I think most of all, I want to help people. Fighting bad guys sounds cool and I think I can probably do that with my Quirk. But sometimes I feel like I’m doing more harm than help with it…so I want to make sure people can rely on me, even if my Quirk is dangerous. I want to be someone who can beat the baddies and rescue people.”
• What kind of professional hero do you want to become:
  “I want to try out being a Hero who goes on the frontlines and fight villains. I feel like my Quirk would be super effective as a power against them. At the same time though, I don’t want to hurt people caught in the crossfire if I can’t control it…my head says a villain fighter, but my heart says to be a support Hero. That way, I can make sure I’m actually protecting civilians.”

  “I’m clumsy. Sometimes I doubt myself too much. And I’m scared my Quirk will seriously hurt someone one day…but I want to try. I want to learn. And I want to become a Hero who helps people.”
• What are you interests and hobbies:
  “O-Oh! Well, if we’re on the topic…I like reading! Reading calms me down and I can get lost in another world. Weird, I know, since we’re living in a world of super Heroes and villains, heh. Oh, and I like going out for karaoke too! Sometimes I’m not that great at it but it’s good exercise you know. Gotta keep those vocal chords strong and healthy! And I like sketching sometimes, but I don’t think I’m very good at it. The lines and colors just don’t mix when I-”

  “Um…does burning the school tree down in kindergarten count? It was an accident!"
• Tell us something about your quirk that most might not know? Any events or memories, be it joyous or ill, tied to it:
  “My Quirk? Well, it really gives me a migraine if I overuse it. Let’s see, what else…oh! My glasses are kind of like stabilizers so I don’t just shoot my beams everywhere. They’re super expensive though so I’ve been wearing this pair since kindergarten-eh? No it wasn’t after the tree incident! Please don’t write that down!”
• Why should we consider you over the other applicants? What can you offer that they cannot:
  “Aside from my Quirk, I think I don’t have much going for me. But I want to learn. I want to know how I can control this Quirk of mine and become a Hero who can save people. Rescue or combat. I think it’s this drive of mine…my desire to control this power…that’s what’s keeping me going. That’s why I want to get in. I'm willing to put the effort where others won't.”
