Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

The Holy Grail War.

The year is 1934. The Third Holy Grail War has begun. The three families and the other various participants clash for the sake of claiming the grail the path to the origin, the omnipotent wish-granting device. And yet... something goes terribly, terribly wrong. Suddenly, a foolish attempt to seize complete control of the grail and remove it from its resting place escalates into an even more explosive conflict. In the process, the Holy Grail itself was heavily damaged, a bleeding scar cut through the very structure of the ritual itself. Matou Zouken was slain, ending one of the three founding families. The perpetrator, a magus of Germany, was also slain by the Tohsaka representative, before he was able to attempt to continue his plot.

When the dust settled, the third Holy Grail War could be considered nothing less then a failure. There was no choice but to delay the fourth war, to allow the Grail time to recover from the critical damage that had been done to it. Indeed, it wasn't until 2004 that the ritual was once again ready to be conducted.

But everything did not go as planned. In the months approached the War, it became apparent that the ritual had suffered sufficient damage to result in numerous changes that required proper investigation. Unfortunately there was no chance to perform this research.

The Einzbern family, having transported their most powerful homunculus yet to Fuyuki, along with her parents, a freelance agent and their previous homunculus once intended for the possibility of an earlier fourth war, was suddenly raided by an outside force. The Ainsworth family, a powerful magus family equipped with a vast arsenal of magecraft, very deliberately sought out the latest of the Einzbern homunculi and attempted to take her for themselves.

In a vicious battle, the freelance agent was critically injured, his life only saved by the efforts of his wife. However, they successfully prevented the kidnapping of their daughter.

It was from here that the Ainsworth family revealed their true intent: The absolute dominion over the Holy Grail. They planned to summon all seven Servants by themselves, a combination of family members and their allies, and they aggressively took command of the ritual.

And yet...

The damage to the Holy Grail all those years ago yielded something unexpected. The Tohsaka, joining forces with the Einzbern and magi from the association, were still able to participate.

It was not a simple Holy Grail War, but a Great Grail War. A war where two sides summon seven Servants and clash in a massive battle.

And soon, it will begin.

Trying something a little different this time with a Fate RP: A Great Grail War! I noticed that a lot of times people were vying for the same slot, so this time I decided to double them instead, in hopes that people will be more satisfied with their options.

As stated, this is a Great Grail War, meaning two teams of Servants and Masters will clash against one another. If any character slots are not filled, they will be filled by NPCs controlled by myself and my two co-GMs.

Some ground rules:

  • No Servants Older than Gilgamesh
    • He's the king of heroes for a reason, the most powerful Servant is also the oldest.
  • Few Servants from 1900 or later
    • Very few Servants come from beyond this point that qualify outside of the Moon Cell, please be careful if you choose a Servant from beyond this date.
  • No Servants with more then three Noble Phantasms
    • Isn't that enough? Most have one or two. More crosses into far too much power.
  • Great Grail War
    • We'll be having fourteen servants and fourteen masters split between two sides summoning said Servants. Sorry, but there will be no more slots then that, so first come first serve when it comes to classes. As stated, any empty slots will be filled with NPCs, if necessary.
  • Please sign up with both a Servant and a Master on opposite sides
    • This ensures there is balance in numbers. Please do not place your Servant and Master on the same side. For example, if you make a Servant on the Red Team, you must have a Black Team Master. Pairs will be arranged between players, or I can pair people if they're stuck.
  • If you get yourself into a situation where your character may be killed, I'm sorry
    • The premise of this RP guarantees that Servants will be dying. And if your Master messes up, they're at risk too. However, Servants at least are all famous figures from the past, and shouldn't go down easily.
  • No reality marbles
    • These are super-rare. Exceptions MAY be made but it's unlikely.
  • Have fun!
    • That's what this RP is here for. Follow standard RP etiquette and my guidelines, and you should have no problem.
  • Tiger Dojo
Finally, @PKMNB0Y and @Raineh Daze will be helping me run this RP, and will naturally be in charge of the Tiger Dojo.

Just waiting until more people post their intros before I get anything going. ^^;
A little more interest and I'll put up an OOC.

Saber

Arturia let out a yelled "Very well!" in response to her Master's message, her voice carrying over the din of battle as her sword cut cleanly through a wolf's flank, sending it to the ground with its legs kicking. It wouldn't be much further before they reached the enemy Lancer! Defeating her before that black corruption spread even further was absolutely necessary, and so that was the chief goal on the blonde knight's mind. Another wolf leaped at her, but she stepped back and caught it between its jaws with the edge of her blade, hacking the top of its head off of its body in a single stroke and letting its bleeding corpse hit the ground behind her, hard, crimson staining the white snow. It wouldn't be much further now, and Siegfried had joined her!

But before he could finish his suggestion, he was forced to defend himself from the sudden strike of a brilliant spear! Immediately, Arturia's eyes traveled to the source of thrown weapon... and given how the attacker addressed the crazed Lancer, and the appearance of the girls in the air, there was now doubt in the nature of the many Servants before them.

Valkyries.

However, not a single one of them seemed to exhibit any kind of corruption. They were speaking without madness, as well. In that case...

"The Elder Sister you speak of," Saber began, stepping forward, "Is not herself. Her body and mind are being corrupted by some kind of dark influence. Do you truly wish to allow her to be debased like this?"

If she could convince them to stand down, they could push forward to the real threat!

Caster

In an instant, her undead giant had been annihilated.

Skuld's eyes widened. Their enemies... the undead had been completely purged, but the girls filling the air couldn't be mistaken for anything else. This was dozens and dozens of valkyries, a massive swarm of them. There was no question of it. There was nothing that her undead could do to an army of valkyries. Even most of her spells couldn't touch them! The ones that could took an insurance that she wouldn't be targeted while casting them... Even with the use of divine words, it wouldn't be so fast that they couldn't respond. Why... why did it have to be such a huge swarm of valkyries!? Fighting off enemies like that...!

"... Aaah... d-damn it, this isn't fair! Master!" Caster almost immediately turned to the man, "This isn't fair! It's not fair at all!"

The IC is officially up!
It was around this time, almost every day, that the school bells rang and students headed off to spend the rest of their day however they chose to. Some workers were released from their shifts, and others were just starting them. All in all, it was a perfectly average day in the peaceful town of Minazawa. Day in and day out, it was the routine as usual. This wasn't to say that nothing enjoyable or exciting ever happened, but nothing out of the ordinary occurred in the town, either. At least, not really. Certainly there were plenty of myths and rumors, but no-one really believed in those, right?

On most days you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

Just like any other day in Minazawa, given the temperature was pleasant and there was no sign of unpleasant weather on the horizon, there was a plethora of people investigating the reported mysteries. From the vanishing alleyway, to sightings of the beautiful vampire in the entertainment district, to the hidden district, there were all kinds of investigations. One in particular was a reported encounter with at a kuchisake-onna, the scissor-wielding specter reportedly stalking the back alleys of the town in search of anyone who was out late at night. The local high school's paranormal investigation club was all over that particular rumor. Not that they had any idea what they'd do if they actually found a kuchisake-onna, but damn it, they would try all the same! Other recent highlights in the Minazawa mythology were the rumor of a kitsune in the form of a beautiful woman hanging around the old abandoned shrine at the edge of town, one that had sadly fallen to a raging fire many years ago.

Another favorite was the tale of some form of spider woman. Then, of a female oni living on the edge of town. A particularly striking rumor that even the most staunch nonbelievers couldn't ignore, however, was the daylight lightning strike.

It was less a rumor and more a fact. Everyone had seen it, but there was not a cloud in the sky. Thankfully, no-one had been hurt, but indeed when the place it had apparently struck was investigated there was a smoking crater still left in the concrete. While there were many people trying to come up with a rational explanation for the event, the supernatural one was fairly popular.

One girl in particular didn't seem to care for any of these investigations.

She thought them all to be rather foolish.

Midorikawa Fumie made her way past a few groups of both her peers and adults, one in particular investigating a 'mysterious' set of stairs that apparently had one more step on the way down then they did on the way up. It was something she'd never paid attention to, simply because she knew better then that.

Her bag carried by a strap over her shoulder, its long shape perfect for carrying something very important to her, Fumie reflected on recent occurrences. There'd been a buzz among her fellow students about the daylight lighting strike, even moreso then the other strange rumors that circulated through the student body. Of course, that wasn't the only thing they were talking about. All sorts of subjects traveled from student to student, some Fumie preferred to hear about more then others.

The fact that she was so 'tiny and cute' was not one of the ones she liked hearing about. Really, it made the black-haired girl quite irritable whenever she heard someone mention it to her.

Fumie's height, to put it simply, wasn't a topic she liked to be reminded about.

However, for once, she was rather interested in the 'daylight lightning strike'. Or rather, interested in what caused it.

It was important, after all. Something like that could be awfully dangerous...

In any case, it was another day in the town of Minazawa. A town where some believed anything could happen.

And sometimes, maybe it did.

Mordred Pendragon

An arcade? That was where there was all kinds of games! Naturally, some place where there was anything remotely challenging was perfect for Mordred. After all, she left no challenge unanswered, and there was no way she would ever lose to something like an arcade game! The blonde girl folded her arms confidently as she strode into the Arcade, immediately making a beeline for the first of the claw machines. So, all she had to do was grab one of the toys with the claw, then, didn't she? Simple!

"This is no challenge to the heir to the Throne of Camelot!" declared Mordred, slotting a coin into the machine and eagerly maneuvering the claw to pick up a stuffed lion toy in the chamber. It all looked good at first... but then, as she picked it up, it suddenly dropped. Narrowing her green eyes, Mordred tried again.

And again.

And again.

By her fourth try, needless to say, Mordred was fuming.
