Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

"Sonya-san..."

Now she remembered that name. The year above her, a foreign girl who had been brought to Japan... she didn't know much else about her aside from that, though. It was just hard not to know about foreign exchange students or other, similar people. Just how many magical girls were at her school? And in Tokyo in general?

And what... just what was the Hex Night? She knew it was a battle between magical girls for a wish, but why? At least no-one was killed but... it was still strange. Magical girls were supposed to fight evil together, weren't they? Being introduced to being one with something like this was unusual, to say the least.

"Additionally, the Hex Night is-ah?"

The Fairy paused for a moment, frowning.

"Aaah... I need to go! I'm sorry, there's something really important I need to handle right away!" she declared, ascending into the sky, "Can one of you girls help explain the Hex Night to Hoshino-san? Sorry!"

With that, she zoomed off without another word.

"Eh...? Hey! Hey! You you didn't finish explaining!" cried Hikari after the fairy. While she knew one of the other two magical girls had been asked to take over, that didn't really make it any better when the fairy responsible for all this just left all of the sudden, "That's just... grrr..."

Caster

"See? This is the sheer disregard he pays me," Skuld commented, with a huff, as she glanced towards Keisuke. The disregard for her looks, her efforts, it was all quite frustrating for the smallish Caster. At least, that's how she had perceived the man's behavior. As a result, she had judged him an unworthy Master. Were this a Holy Grail War, well... this would not had boded well for his continued existence, but the circumstances were quite different in this case. There was no need for a violent parting, and without the desperation of the situation known as a Holy Grail War, there was no need to actually harm him. Treating him as some sort of philistine for not acknowledging her seductive nature, however, was perfectly acceptable.

The pat on her head, however, immediately caused the half-elven girl's irritation to rise. That wasn't how one treated a Princess, nor a Queen! That was how someone treated a child! And she was most certainly, absolutely, not a child! But then... Then a rose appeared in Eleonor's hands, and she offered it to Skuld.

"... Hmph, well..."

The Caster-class Servant brushed her hair back with a flourish.

"I shall forgive you for treating me as a child and patting my head in such a manner!" she declared, "For this rose is indeed a beautiful offering for a beautiful member of royalty~ Fufufu, perhaps I shall indeed favor you~?"

She took the rose carefully, admiring it not only for its appearance, but for its creation: The manifestation of such a construct was an interesting application of magecraft.

Saber

Of course, to assume that Illyasviel had performed such feats under her own power, no matter how adept the Einzbern were at magecraft. It was also somewhat disquieting, that the little girl she had seen before was not host to spirits of a thus-far unknown nature. At the same time, however, she appeared to refer to herself as Illyasviel rather than anything else. To Saber, this indicated that the dominate nature of the girl was likely Irisviel's daughter. At least, it was what she had hoped.

It was still quite confusing, as well. Somehow, Illyasviel had become the vessel for... one or more spirits, causing her to be summoned as a Servant? Arturia had not even been aware such a thing was possible. But the fact was that, before her, stood the daughter of the woman she had once done everything that she could to protect.

On her honor as a knight, there was only one choice that seemed right.

"... I... I do not understand how such a thing has happened to you, Illyasviel. I did not even know such a thing was possible... a human hosting a spirit in order to be summoned as a Servant... But you are at least in part Irisviel's daughter," Saber began, "And so I will do all I can to ensure your safety."

@Raineh Daze
The barrier cracked again, first at the impact of Tyaethe's armor, then from the tip of Indrau's sword. Cracks ran through its shimmering surface, and with a sound like a ringing bell it exploded into fragments, shattering like glass that scattered through the air before dissipating into motes of purple light.

Almost immediately they were met with another barrier, but this one cracked immediately under the pressure of the next assault. Indeed, it was likely another blow would shatter it entirely, opening their way to the witch entirely.

Ducking low, even as the hail of lasers fell, Fanilly darted forward! She had to help break through it, if this went on any longer there was no guarantee that the barrier of ice Tiral had created to shield them would hold! The tip of her sword struck the circular barrier, and in that instant...!

It shattered, opening the way once more! This time, there was a clear bath right to the witch, even as she summoned another set of circles closer to her person. What kind of magical power did she posses, when she could so effortlessly cast offensive magic without using incantations!? Even as she steadily kept up her bombardment(which notably didn't seem particularly focused, more like it was generally raining mana down on the area rather than being targeted, at least for the moment), light built in the six circles she summoned around her head. The loss of her barriers didn't seem to dampen her mood, mouth still twisted into a wild grin as the lights grew and grew...!

Assassin

Assassin took a deep breath. She was not a legend from the Age of Gods, but as a Servant she possessed awareness of the myths of others. As a result, a few things immediately stood out to her. The first was that Lancer's appearance, the manner of her armor, it was all very distinctive. While the silvery-haired samurai didn't possess much in the way of a specific knowledge of Lancer's potential origins, her unique appearance made it more likely she would be able to discern who the enemy Servant could potentially be. The second was... King of Strategists? While she was unable to immediately guess at who that was, she could narrow down Rider's identity form that information, and the weapons and armor he used, almost immediately.

Finally, it became quite clear that in spite of her eavesdropping, Lancer was indeed an honorable opponent.

"I would be happy to accept your honorable proposal, Lancer," she began, "I would also like to accept the proposal for a duel, as well."

After all, it was how she preferred to conduct herself in combat. Not that she was somehow incapable of fighting in a situation where there were multiple opponents, but rather she simply preferred a one-on-one duel. There was nothing about Lancer's terms that could be considered disagreeable.

@TheMushroomLord: It's not impossible, I've been waiting on a friend to get another similarly-aged character up to finalize my first post in the IC actually. ^^;
Konpaku Youmu

Slowly, Youmu lowered her blades. It was clear her opponent had been particularly skilled... but also that he was not a serious enemy. It had been more akin to a sparring match, or perhaps one of the danmaku duels of her homeland, as opposed to anything else. Given this was hardly something she was unused to, she wasn't totally taken off-guard when the battle simply stopped. On top of that... it appeared as if something far more concerning was occurring.

The snowfall had only intensified since her arrival, thickening to the point that it could only be referred to as a blizzard. Such a sudden snowstorm blowing in out of no-where certainly couldn't be natural, given there hadn't been a cloud in the sky previously. While the small half-phantom wished to uncover just what had happened to her... well, perhaps locating the source of this strange, sudden blizzard would be her first step on that bath.

"No. I wish to discover the source of this weather as well," she insisted, now realizing how chilly it was for someone dressed as she was, before sheathing both of her swords. It would be awkward to let that show, though!

Abigail Williams

She'd hit!

The woman was lifted into the air, the glowing tendril spearing right through the center of her body! But... there was no blood, or anything. Abby didn't like seeing blood, but there was usually some of it... that, the way holes had been blown through the woman's body, and the way it was now seeming to come apart, crumbling away, made Abby come to what seemed like the only obvious solution.

"... They weren't people," she said, frowning, slowly approaching the red gem on the ground. The lights that had spawned the tendrils faded away as she did... what was that? It had just fallen out of the woman's body when she eroded away... "... I don't think they were even alive... it's kind of scary..."

Regardless of how scary it was, the little girl still knelt down and picked up the gem...

She thought she heard as strange popping sound...

And then there were no injured people. No damaged streets. No nothing. Everything was back to normal, exactly as it appeared when she had first arrived.

"Ah...? What...?"

@Rabidporcupine: I didn't see anything off aside from the food. Like, you can still access the game menus and stuff.
@OliveYou: It tastes like normal food would. It's not tasteless.
@OliveYou: Food is normal. I mean, maybe food that's been "magic'd up" wouldn't be? But food people are selling or made normally would be.
@OliveYou: Not actually how it works here, sorry. ^^;
