A quick flash of excitement sparked in Bowyn’s eyes as Kelab mentioned seeing a winter fairy with a dwarf and a large dog following her. Had to be Rue. Although the way Kaleb phrased it, put on Bowyn on edge, and he grew quiet. He didn’t pay much attention to the rest of what Kaleb said, if he’d been paying closer attention he would’ve noticed how strange it was that the other man had nearly called Rue a pixie. Or he might’ve found it odd that Kaleb had simply said a dwarf rather than called Arn by his name. But Bowyn was only thinking about Rue, and how this elf had definitely seen her, and how it almost sounded like she was trying to get away from Arn.

But then he thought of the large dog Kaleb had also mentioned. Mooney, for sure. And Bowyn was pretty sure this soft-looking elf wouldn’t know a wolf from a dog until it bit him. If Rue was in any danger Mooney wouldn’t just be following along with Arn. Unlike dwarves or elves, wolves could be trusted. Wolves didn't deceive, they had no reason to, and Mooney would protect Rue no matter the cost. Bowyn knew that, even without the ability to speak directly to the wolf, he knew Mooney was as loyal as any domesticated animal. So if Arn was up to anything, the dwarf hadn’t acted yet, or he’d have to go through Mooney first. So as of whenever it was this elf saw them, Rue was still safe. This was good news then. Rue was still safe and smart enough to be keeping herself out of Arn’s reach.

“Think it might’ve been a wolf?” Bowyn asked, although he was already certain it had been. He doubted there were very many winter fae hanging around River Port. He wondered what it was like to be so sheltered you could look right at a wolf and mistake it for a pet. “I think we should head over to where you saw them, Arn and Rue, and the wolf. Then we can all go and search every tavern and hot spot in town for the princess. And, added bonus, Arn’s been offering to throw amas around all day.” He added, figuring he’d thrown in the right incentives to rope Kaleb in. Running into this elf might’ve actually been a stroke of good luck; either Kaleb could help him warn Rue that Arn was dangerous or if the elf was a friend of Arn, they could leave Arn with the elf and Rue wouldn’t have to worry about the dwarf being left alone. It seemed like almost a solid plan as long as this elf wasn’t more trouble than Arn.

“Wolf?” Kaleb raised an eyebrow. That's just- Right. High fantasy setting, so of course there are domesticated wolves just strolling around town. He gently scratched the back of his head as if he was realizing a mistake. “Thinking about it now, it was probably a wolf, yeah.” Kaleb hadn't found that mistake to be too much of a big deal. He didn’t really think it would ruin the rapport he was trying to build with the Winter Fae.

Unfortunately, the next thing to come out of Bowyn's mouth caused Kaleb to wince.

“I think we should head over to where you saw them, Arn and Rue, and the wolf. Then we can all go and search every tavern and hot spot in town for the princess. And, added bonus, Arn’s been offering to throw amas around all day.”

“...over to where you saw them, Arn and Rue, and the wolf...”

“...Arn and Rue, and the wolf...”

“...Arn...”

Arn… the fucking dwarf. Fuck.

Kaleb was silent for a moment before he started to just nod agreeably.. “Sounds like a fine plan, yeah… And then we can follow where I saw them heading. Yup, perfect plan.” He lost a lot of the confidence in his voice, almost sounding shaky. However, Kaleb had to press on. He had to sell this! “And I can’t believe that was actually Arn I saw. I mean then again, dwarves don’t differentiate much when it comes to looks. Short, stocky, long beards. The works.” Kaleb shrugged with a smirk. It was time to really get into character. “And he didn’t even say anything, but I can’t blame him. He was salivating more than the wolf when he was looking up at Rue. That or he just doesn’t remember dear ol’ Kaleb. I’m quite forgettable.” He shared hoping he had remedied his mistake and he also wanted to give Bowyn something else to think about too. Everything was fitting together quite smoothly in Kaleb’s opinion, and now he had an understanding of the people he had not even met yet.

Arn = The Dwarf = Amas Dispensary

Exotic Husky = Wolf

Bowyn = Fairy - Wings

Bowyn + Arn + Rue + Wolf = The Big Lead = Potential Royal Love Interest = Princess Annya

On the right track… Wait. Where the hell is Eris?!

Kaleb led Bowyn to where he thought he remembered seeing Arn. It was right outside of the Inn by the Sea. He squinted down at the spot momentarily and then looked toward the direction where he remembered seeing Rue hovering overhead. He pointed down at where he remembered passing the dwarf.

“Arn was here. Ogling Rue.” He then pointed up and in the direction of the market square.“Rue was up there. She looked like she was searching for something down below. Maybe looking for Annya.” He shrugged.

Aiko’s swift and adept hands immediately went to bandage Nabarra’s wounds. However, the dark elf remained unresponsive, even despite Yuka’s best efforts to goad a reaction from Nabarra. He turned to agree with Yuka about purchasing more potions and noticed the change in the demihuman’s expression. Yuka’s eyes had glazed over and a look that made it seem as if she were very far away replaced the overly confident grin the demihuman normally wore. Just as quickly as the lioness had fallen into a haze she snapped back out of it. Based on her strange and erratic behavior, Orias could only assume she was inebriated with something other than just alcohol. Whatever was going on with the feline though was simply a lesser concern. The lioness seemed to know exactly what potion to get, and the feline appeared to be the obvious choice to move quickly through the city.

“A fine suggestion, you think you can manage without becoming distracted? Because if we want to undermine Kasai and his repugnant alliance, we will need this elf on our side. Who better to undermine dark elf forces than one of their own?” Orias spoke softly with eyes focused on the lioness. While he didn’t doubt her hate for Roshmi’s king, he had little confidence in her ability to approach things with a sense of gravity or urgency. The idea of this rebellion, of preventing the full weight of this alliance from crushing Roshmi City and corrupting it into a place of darkness, felt like the first worthy endeavor in decades. To regain any favor with his own family was beyond hope, but with Solaris, this might be his best chance.

Bown’s pace picked up as Kaleb lead him to where he had last seen Rue and Arn. While the fairy didn’t disagree with anything the elf said, every word about Arn clawed at his mind and further aggravated him. He only caught bits of what Kaleb said, Arn, salivating like a wolf, Arn, making no effort to greet Kaleb. Typical prince behavior, to toss a friend aside when they aren’t of use. He thought as he shook his head. Bowyn was fully convinced that everything he’d seen of Arn earlier was probably fake, trying to gain his and Rue’s trust for whatever scheme he was up to. Everything Kaleb continued to say only added to his anger with Arn.

Ogling. The word slithered around in Bowyn’s head. He couldn’t even picture Arn the way he had earlier, there was no mental image of a mild manner soldier who couldn’t understand sarcasm. Now all his thoughts of Arn had morphed into a treacherous prince with hungry eyes like a predator. Ogling Rue. And Rue was trying to help the dwarf, out she searching for a princess on Arn’s wild goose chase. It didn’t even sound like Arn was looking for Annya in the slightest.

“Ogling.” Bowyn repeated the word with disgust, making no effort to veil his opinion on Arn. “That creepy little tree stump.” He muttered to himself as he looked around the street Kaleb had led him to. “You sure this princess is even here? Maybe Arn lied about that too?” He asked Kaleb in a hushed tone. Bowyn only believed Annya to be here because Arn had said it, and he was certain now that he couldn’t trust anything that came from Arn. The back of his mind nagged that he really shouldn’t trust this strange elf he just met either. But Kaleb made sense, everything he said just proved Bowyn was right about Arn.

Rue

Time: Dusk
Location: Inn by the Sea
Interaction: @Helo Bowyn, @Omni5876 Arn, & @FunnyGuy Kaleb
Equipment: Small backpack, two knives, rations, water flask, hygiene products

Rue floated over Riverport, attracting far too much attention then she preferred. She instead focused on finding Bowyn. It wasn’t easy; there were people everywhere - demis, elves, orcs, dwarves, and forest fairies. She had never seen some of these species until her recent adventure. Slightly curious, she perched on the side of a roof to watch the passerby. Her gaze flickered over a rather unusual trio; a red haired elf woman with waist length firebrick red hair, a towering green orc assembled with various weapons, and a tall, slender feline demihuman with a rather punk but interesting ensemble. As though feeling her gaze, the feline turned and stared at her. Rue quickly looked away and down to find Moonlight waiting at the edge of the shop patiently. She smiled at him to assure him there wasn’t any harm. She didn't care glance in their direction again; something about that glare had sent shivers down her spine....

Then, Arn’s voice reached her as he began to separate himself. Thoroughly confused, Rue watched him point to himself and the street. She frowned and silently understood. With a sigh, she watched him depart and felt a twinge of relief; at least Bowyn wouldn’t run away now when she approached. However the sight of him leaving tug at her heartstrings. Poor Arn. She had a gut feeling he meant good; but what Bowyn said made her flinch as she recalled it. Maybe she did trust too easily… Maybe the letter she had wasn’t so noble after all either. Maybe she was just an average little winter fairy being sent off to die. She gritted her teeth and pushed the thoughts out of her head. No. She didn’t have any reason to distrust him or the letter. Rue let out an irritated sigh and growl that caused Moony and one passerby of Elves to glance upwards with curiosity. She managed a mixture of a scowl and a smile which sent them running. She frowned more and stood back up. The longer she sat up here, the farther he could be.

Rue took a few steps back and then hurtled into the air, catching Moony by surprise. He jogged easily to keep up with her and followed. Passerby made room for the odd duo until she spotted him… with a light elf? She frowned; did Bowyn know him? The two talked rather animatedly, as if they had known another. She’d have to find out wouldn’t she? And if he didn’t, wouldn’t his words come back to haunt him? No, it was Bowyn, and she trusted him; but the wound was still fresh. She gritted her teeth as her temples began to throb. She glanced at Moony and descended to land gracefully beside him in a rather deserted spot. Making sure her wings didn’t disrupt anyone’s space, she folded them against her back. Forcing a smile onto her face, she approached the duo as people parted to allow the wolf by with curious glances.

”Hey there!” she greeted as she forced cheeriness into her voice. She forced a smile and clasped her hands together. Her wings poked out over her shoulder despite being folded. Think Rue! Say something else! But she was caught off guard at the newcomer and wasn’t sure what to make of him, so she glanced in Bowyn's direction. Hurt still reflected in her eyes, but her cheeriness and forced smile was making up for it. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes were still red. She turned to Moony and patted his head as she glanced in the light elf’s direction, unable to meet his gaze. ”He’s safe, don’t worry. He won’t - err - attack you.” She stroked his head as she thought to herself, Unless I asked him too. Darn it, why did I say that? It was so stupid! Her insides squirmed and her gaze flickered between the fae and the light elf, awaiting whatever came next.

Hm? Bowyn’s displeasure with Arn was really surfacing now, and Kaleb had wondered if it was his doing. Had he swayed his opinion some? It was not unbelievable especially since Bowyn claimed to have only met Arn today. It was rather convenient that the loose-end to his lies might be easily cut. All Kaleb would have to do is rub shoulders with Bowyn better than Arn had, and so far the bar for that seemed to be quite low. He couldn’t help but smirk at Bowyn’s insult towards Arn. The poor dwarf was just collateral… the price of being an extra.

“Sure, Arn is not the type of guy you place your faith in, but I got the details from a very loyal lady friend of mine. If not for her, I’d just be looking for a party tonight.” Despite his jesting, Kaleb kept on a serious expression to let Bowyn know he was certain Annya could be found in River Port. “We find your friend and Arn first, and then we can put our heads together to find Annya.” Kaleb shrugged once again before his attention was captured by Rue’s very sudden arrival several meters away. His eyes were rather wide, somewhat taken aback by the remarkable entrance. The wolf walking beside her on her approach only confirmed her identity. How many folk were walking their wolf around town? “Well, that was easy. She found us.” He said before she had actually made it to him and Bowyn. This being the first time seeing her up close, Kaleb kept his eyes on her. He was looking at the fairy with more wonder than attraction. Kaleb found Rue to be a graceful image he’d find on the book cover of a children’s fairytale.

As Rue greeted cheerfully, Kaleb was already type-casting her in his head. She seems friendly… When she quickly averted her gaze from him, he briefly looked at Bowyn. They were the ones acquainted after all, so it was best to allow them to talk. That tension though. Kaleb couldn't help but think something had happened he was completely unaware of. This was not good, but the drama could be so rich for what would be a grand adventure. He wondered why her eyes were red and sad-looking despite her smile. Kaleb thought she would address Bowyn first, but she spoke to him instead, all without meeting his gaze. ...but kinda timid unlike Bowyn.

“Of course not, pets love me. Plus, you seem quite friendly, so why wouldn’t your good friend be too?” Kaleb smiled. “Name’s Kaleb by the way. Pleasure to meet you, but… where’s…” He purposely tried to peer around her before looking at their surroundings with a confused expression. “...where’s Arn? I was told the rascal would be with you.”

Kuroi stayed quiet as he let Slick lead the way to the nearest tavern or inn. Most of his time was spent coddling the baby fennec fox. He attempted to communicate with it a little bit but couldn't understand more than a few squeaks. All he could gather was that the fox had already accepted the vulpine as his owner. Perfect. This fennec fox was his son now, there were no two ways about it. As the human and vulpine walk into the bar, Kuroi casually plops himself down next to his new companion and sets the fox down on his lap. He glared at anyone that dared to try and complain or say anything about the animal he had brought into the establishment.

"I'll take some fire-roasted chicken with a mug of fresh water. a little bit of minced fish would also be appreciated for the little guy..." he said, holding up his pet.

He was met with a glare from the bartender but not refuted at all. The bartender nodded at him and at Slick before going off to take more orders. As Kuroi placed the fox back down on his lap, he looked over at Slick and began to initiate conversation in a rather hushed tone, "So uh...tell me how it is back where...you come from..."

The vulpine did his best to stay rather vague in his questioning. After all, the last thing that Kuroi and Slick needed were any physical encounters that would ruin a delicious meal.

Slick had caught the bartender’s glare, but he didn’t think much of it since he didn’t think it would escalate past some tense eye contact. Slick only hoped his drink wouldn’t get spiked like it had been at the Nest by Floofa. Damn fuzz-tailed beast of a harlot… She’ll get what’s coming to her. Slick briefly scowled at the thought of the woman. He might have stewed in his sour thoughts, but Kuroi’s voice stole him from the negativity.

"So uh...tell me how it is back where...you come from..."

Slick looked at Kuroi as if he was going to say something, but then looked down at the bar counter. He initially thought it would be an easy question to answer, but then he realized he’d have to know where to begin. This world was so different from his own. He felt he could go on for hours or maybe even days discussing the very topic.

“Where to start…” He scratched his chin some before spotting the bartender coming over the two tankards. “Maybe a pick-me-up will help me some.” The bartender set them down in front of Slick before immediately going back to get Kuroi’s drink. Without hesitation, Slick grabbed one of the tankards and gulped down a swig of beer from it. “Mmm… Now onto yer question.” The beer tasted so much better than what he was used to. It was so much richer in flavor.

“It’s simpler. Easiest way to explain it. There’s just one kind of people… I mean you got yer white folk, natives, Mexicans, and negroes like me of course, but as different as we were, we kinda all looked the same compared to what you got here. No extra features, y’know?“ He paused for a second to get a hold of where he was going with his explanation. “If the lady of our group is right about meeting more people like myself, then you’ll see just how simple our differences are.” Slick took another swig before continuing. “We got boats, but… none that can fly like that amoray. And I can also say that I’ve observed a lack of firepower carried by the folk around here. No guns, here? If you even know what a gun is.” Slick took a short sip while staring Kuroi down, awaiting his answer. Please don't let me down Avalia. There's gotta be somethin'.

Satisfied after finishing 'her' food, Myra watched as Astra put a bunch of shinies over the small piece of paper the woman had handed her over a while ago. Watching that strange 'ritual' with curiosity, Myra leaned closer, looking at the pile of Amas resting over the piece of paper, stacked over each other in a pyramidal shape before the woman came and carried them away. While Myra was a bit worried that Astra would end up giving all the pretty shinies they had away in order to get food or other things, the meat they ate was indeed very tasty and food was definitely more useful than the shinies, which only served to be pretty... And to use to get food in cities, as Astra had shown them. Besides, all the eating was making her a bit sleepy, so she decided to not worry herself too much with those things and simply let Astra take care of the 'city stuff' like she had been doing until now.

Getting up, she followed Astra together with Vrexen as she took them further inside the building. Entering the room after Astra, Myra immediately started walking around sniffing the air, trying to identify what exactly that room was. Fortunately, her question was soon aswered when Vrexen asked Astra if that was a place for them to rest, which she promptly confirmed. Looking at both of them with a happy expression, Myra immediately started looking for a good place to rest. At first, she was pretty interested on the rug right in the middle of the room due to being relatively warm and definitely softer than the floor, but it quickly changed once she began investigating the bed. The moment she tried to get up, she immediately stopped, amazed by how soft it was. Gently touching the mattress with her hands, she looked at Astra and Vrexen with a surprised expression as they talked with each other. Climbing on the bed, she walked above it for a moment, both amused by it's softness and the weird feeling that was walking over something so soft before she laid down on it with her belly down and her arms open.

Myra was already getting comfortable when Astra told her to get up, with earned her an annoyed stare of protested as Myra got off the bed, walking over to where Astra was sitting over, looking at her with a confused (and still slightly annoyed) expression. Listening to Astra's words, Myra thought for a bit about her question about what she could do and how she should reply to it. Deciding to start with the things Astra already knew about her, she looked at Astra and began gradually camouflaging herself, until she was completely invisible before appearing again after a moment. Continuing the demonstration, Myra assumed a low posture before she gave a small dash, quickly going from one side of the room to the other in the blink of an eye. While the room wasn't big enough for her to run and she definitely left some big marks on the floor after using her claws to help her to stop before hitting the wall, that small dash would hopefully be enough for Astra to understand that Myra could run very fast. Last but not least, Myra approached her, lifting one of her feet together with one of her hands, showing Astra her claws before she put them down and opened her mouth so she could see the double row of extremely sharp teeth, a rather rare sight for someone who wasn't her food nor she was trying to intimidate.

Saoirse laughed at Annya’s comment. She had eyed the third outfit with a grimace. What poor soul would buy it? After Annya thrust the amas down onto the counter and gave the man a snappy retort, he responded with one of his own. Shae raised her eyebrows and folded her arms. Did he not know who he was talking to? What a sad piece of shit. She opened her mouth to speak, but Annya handled it herself. She took Raven and her hands and Shae nodded in reply to her question.

”Yeah that would be - “ she began to reply and was interrupted by the sound of shattering glass. She whirled around to find the shopkeeper had smashed a bottle of alcohol and was picking up a club. She would have been able to let it go, except a memory was tugging at the back of her mind. Fire dashed through Saoirse's eyes as an unusually cold and callous glare spread across her face. She clenched her fists, set her outfit down and advanced on the shopkeeper. She utilized self control over her element, knowing that if she used it, there would be more trouble. She looked to be trembling, whether from anger or fear, it was hard to tell, yet it was unmistakable that he had crossed a line in her eyes.

Without a word, Saoirse smacked him across the face then quickly pinned both his arms against the wall behind him. She kept her foot over his and kneed him in the groin hard. ”You won’t be needing that anymore.” She watched as he would double over in pain and then grabbed him around the middle and slammed him onto the concrete. She quickly jumped on his back, grabbing the club and tossing it to Annya to catch so he wouldn’t use it against them. Saoirse quickly pinned him to the ground, using a combination of feet, knees, and her arms, while one arm held a knife out the back of his throat. The cool metal would be against his throat and unmistakable.

”Let’s get something straight, you little bastard.” Her voice was calm, but it sounded more menacing than if she had shouted. ”You will never catcall or harass another one of your buyers or even speak to my friends and I again. You will not throw alcohol at anyone else again, or I’m going to make you wish you hadn’t been born which by the looks of it, maybe you already wish that. I could always make it come true. Your name is handy, is it? I’m handy with a knife - do you want to see the cool tricks I have?” She twisted his one arm back painfully, but not enough to sprain or fracture it and pressed the cool metal against his skin, but not enough to puncture it. She glanced up at Annya and Raven with venom in her eyes and a cold fury she was clearly struggling to contain.

Yuka was quick to jump on the suggestion of putting the potion down Nabarra's throat. Maybe too quick. "Careful you don't drown her, instead. Wouldn't that be ironic?" Drowned by a healing potion. And what was that joke about bodily fluids? "You are trying to get her to swallow and not gag, aren't you?"

Yuka offered to get a potion of antidote, which sounded like a good idea. "If there's poison, then that will be important. I don't much care to try and carry her anywhere else, so that's going to be the best idea. For a number of reasons. Hand me the rest of that potion, would you?" Best keep this under wraps.

The lioness, clearly a spark of initiative and, perhaps, too much daring, pause, and seemed to... this was interesting. Aiko, particularly, was keen whrn Yuka seemed to drift off... Into a dream of some sort. A trance, perhaps, not unlike a dream. Aiko got vague wafts from the dream, nothing solid but the idea of something lost. Another visit to be made throughout the night.

At the suggestion of Yuka being less-than-urgent in general, Aiko had an idea. In the brief time she's had to observe Yuka, she'd gotten an idea of how to appeal to her. "We can have ourselves a romp when you're done. I don't think I'll be in the mood if we lose her, though, so do hurry. I'll try my best while you're gone." Since Yuka had grabbed the potion quickly, Aiko had busied herself with cleaning the wound and preparing some dressing to be soaked in what was left of the potion, and would begin dressing the wound.

Is she catching an attitude with me? That’s… actually kinda cute. Astra smiled to herself with amusement before Myra started to demonstrate her abilities for her and Vrexen. The red-faced demon stood idly with the door at his back as if he was blocking their exit. First up in Myra’s repertoire was the camouflage which was familiar to both observers. Myra’s invisibility was not like that of the Light Elves as it did not require the use of mana. It was as natural as a chameleon changing the pigment of its skin. Astra couldn’t tell the difference, but Vrexen clearly could with his third eye that could not detect any use of magic from her..

Next up was her speed and agility, something that Astra was not entirely ready for. The damage done to the floor by Myra’s sharp turn caused the Dark Elven woman to jump some as she almost thought the small long-tailed demon would run into a piece of furniture while performing her dash. Myra then showcased her claws and two rows of sharp teeth.

“To be unseen, swift, and lethal. My young sister has a great potential for violence.” Vrexen commented to Astra who had been staring at the inside of Myra’s mouth for a bit too long.

“Violence, yeah. She’d make some serious amas as a bounty hunter or an assassin. The second one for sure” Astra plopped down off of the dresser so she could pat Myra softly on the head for doing a good job in displaying her talents. “Good stuff Myra! I was so wrong to think you’d be better for sex work.” Astra thought out loud.

“What?”

“Because I was VERY unaware of her potential for violence, Lord Vrexen. I was so foolish to believe Myra could offer so little to our mission…” She said quickly to recover herself since Vrexen was glaring at her. There was an eerie silence between the two that made Astra extremely uncomfortable. “Your turn, right?” Vrexen narrowed his eyes and bared his teeth at her. He held up his hand, showing off his claws.

“Claws... teeth…” His body began to grow, but stopped just as his clothes became tight around his body before he shrunk back down to his normal size. “This room and these clothes restrict me.” He went on to point to his third eye. “This eye allows me to detect mana and magic... I use it to hunt those that believe they can hide from me and to also determine the strength of my prey. And lastly… I cannot die.” Vrexen said before taking a seat on the floor.

“Can’t die?”

“YES!” Astras froze as she was yelled at.

“Sorry.” Astra sounded sincere. She was not a fan of feeling like he would kill her if she said the wrong thing. The only thing she was somewhat glad about was that she now knew what the two could do. Under different circumstances, she could use them to make amas out of the Bounty Hunter Guild in Myriamor. Sure, she couldn’t show her mug at that place, but these two could. It was just too bad Vrexen was more interested in influencing what some were calling the Second Great War. His first objective was to find more of his kind in the River Fairy Kingdom. Vrexen did not know what Astra had in mind, but he was not going to worry about it either. If she crossed him, he would enjoy ripping the limbs from her body.

“Well, as for me, I know a lot about Avalia. People, places, and other shit that can be pretty important. I can’t turn invisible like Myra can, but I know how to sneak around and get into things people don’t want me getting into. So I guess I’m the brains of this trio. My magic isn’t impressive-”

“I see that. It would benefit us if you changed that which is unimpressive. Improve, Astra. Cunning is a good trait, yes... but I have killed many more cunning than I. Do not let it be your only talent while in my service.”

899 Amas.

The dwarf soldier made his way through the crowds of people. It was no surprise that a trading port and major hub such as this was full of bodies. Once or twice he had looked back in Rue’s last location but he did not see her. He was alone again. A few people looked in his direction but many were too busy with their lives to give the lone dwarf a second look. He was alone. Arn took a long deep breath and let it out slowly trying to steady the feelings running wild inside him.

There were feelings of guilt towards the two winter fairies. He had indeed lied to them in some manner. Why had he done that? Was it really to keep his mission safe and anonymous? Bowyn seemed to have some strong feelings against royalty and the medic assumed he was not the only one. After all, even his own monarch had seldom been too involved in his people’s lives. Royals probably had their reasons to be absent but the dwarf could not fault their views. Now, thanks to his presence, the two fairies had an argument.

There were feelings of uncertainty. What was he to do once and if he met the elven princess? He had neve met royalty. The highest person he had ever interacted with was his commanding officer and his own father (or was it step father now?) one of the legendary generals of the legions. Even as his heritage was being revealed, the soldier had felt completely unprepared and unqualified to fill this new role. How the hell was nobility supposed to act? Was there some truth in Bowyn’s misgivings? As the new prince in line for the throne, would he be prepared in the event his estranged biological father met the same end as his dead brother?

The dwarf shook his head as if to chase away these images. There was no need to worry about things beyond his control. A soldier’s duty was to take charge of the environment before him. His tasks so far were simple, find Bowyn and meet up with Princess Annya. Nothing could be simpler. The hard part was what to do after. Again, he sighed defeated. Why could the gods place a person such as him, an introvert even by his people’s standards, in a position where others depended on him? He had already failed, his first two companions had rejected him and their small group already broken up. How in all the hells was he to lead a kingdom and an alliance?

A groan escaped his bearded lips. Looking up he groaned again. He was useless in their search for the fairy lad. He was at least a head smaller than most people here. So he was only able to stare at chest and breasts. The medic needed a new strategy. Suddenly he remembered his and Bowy’s first meeting. Perhaps if he searched bars? After all, the emotional wounds that seemed to plague the white haired fairy was congruent with the need to drown such emotions in alcohol.

The young soldier shrugged. That plan was as good as any. He sneezed and felt his ears burning. If the old wives' tales were to be believed, it meant somebody was speaking ill of him. Running the back of his hand over his bulbous nose the dwarf grunted. Why would anybody be speaking ill of him in this place? He was overthinking things like always. The only person he knew could harbor any sort of grudge was Bowyn but Arn doubted the winter fairy was talking with anyone based on the mood when he stormed out.

Turning a corner his short legs propelled him forwards towards the waterfront board walk. He figured sailors liked their drink so most bars and taverns would be near the water and near their customers. His heavy metal boots made slight clanking sounds but these only merged with the cacophony of sounds from the busy boardwalk. Even though it was night, there were still a sea of people out. Then again, he had heard that port towns such as these actually came alive at night.

No matter where he turned, his eyes managed to find something interesting. Smells and sounds strange to him assailed his senses. His stomach growled a bit as he had not eaten yet since their breakfast. Now that the barrel of a stomach he sported was not queasy following their Helius experience, it demanded to be satiated. Patting his breast plate understandingly, the dwarf approached a cart that seemed to be selling meat on a stick. Spices covered the meat and the smell was wonderful. The type of meat was unidentifiable but one unwritten rule of the Legions was “if something smells good and tastes good…don’t ask where it came from”.

He approached the vendor, pointed to three of the sticks, delivered his amas and moved on. The meat was savory if a bit chewy. It was more of a soft jerky but it was enough to stave off any more embarrassing protest from his stomach. He walked, with one stick in each hand and chewing on the meat on his mouth when he happened upon a curious scene. A red headed, elf? Fairy? The dwarf was not sure.
Whatever the young lady was, her knee was becoming closely acquainted with the groin of the elven man. Being a male himself, Arn could not help but groan as the well placed and powerful blow landed true. A small prayer to the male god was issued by the spirit of the medic praying for the safe journey to the nether world of the elven man’s testicles. The young healer did not know what sin the man had committed to deserve such cruel punishment but he figured a lovely lady would not so wantonly deliver such vengeance upon an innocent.

Despite feeling an empathetic echo of the pain as a fellow male, what really cause Arn to choke on his snack was the sudden realization of the dark haired lady in the vicinity was. Though unlike the Home Guard Legion which was used to regents of other kingdoms to show up for visits of state, his frontier unit did not get indoctrinated on who those regents might be. However, thanks to the elven people having long life, the picture of the person in front of him, could be found even in old books that were passed down to his Legion’s head quarters.

Not only that, but when his mission had been presented to him, a full figured picture was presented to him for study and memorization. That face had been etched into his memory. He had never felt that beauty could truly inhabit the shape of a being but he had been proved wrong. The delicate features where all there. Especially those sharp and impactful eyes. Spitting out the half chewed meat, he approached slowly, ensuring to skirt the red haired lady. Looking up at the tall lady as if transfixed, the young dwarf managed to stammer. “Ex …um excuse me… um…are you perhaps…Lady um Princess…um are you named Annya?” Not knowing if he should use her full title.

Ismael and Kharne had made it over to the general area of where Kharne said they should be. It might have taken a bit more time if a large commotion wasn't made in one of the shops where multiple people were watching warily. Ismael immediately gestured for Kharne as he headed over to check what was going on. There Ismael found his other companions and one of them in a very interesting situation. The prices must have been so terrible that Shae decided to put the shopkeeper in a dangerous situation and seemed like she is ready to put the man in a pine box.

Ismael walked in calmly as he says, "Hu, seems like y'all got into some fun while we were away". Ismael looked to Shae as she seemed almost like a wild animal looking for someone to let her loose. Ismael's first thoughts were they got into an actual fight but based on how everyone looked and how only glass and some liquid on the ground, it might have just started, so obviously, something else happened. Yet the man looked as if he was gonna piss himself, and since they were gonna be here for a bit, it would be better if they didn't get into more trouble. Ismael leans up against the counter and says in a commanding voice towards Shae, "Let him go. You've made your point". As Ismael gestures to the man, pitiful as he is now, he was overpowered by a woman, drunk off his rocker, groaning and crying in pain. He has been reduced to less than a man, more like that of a child who was kicked out of his chair, all he can do now is cry until the pain passes.

Bowyn nodded as Kaleb assured him that he had a more reliable source than Arn who confirmed Annya was in River Port. Maybe it was true, but it didn’t bring him any comfort. His thoughts still focused on Arn and everything he’d heard from Kaleb about the dwarf. That jackass, too busy ogling, not the type of guy you place your faith in, the rascal. Kaleb had painted a clear picture of who Arn really was, one that Bowyn found easier to believe existed than a truly humble and honest prince of any sort.

Perhaps Kaleb was Bowyn’s lucky charm because right as the elf offered to help find Rue and Arn, Mooney strolled up to them. Where the wolf was, Rue was never far behind, and soon Bowyn spotted her as Rue landed with enough grace that any bird who saw her would feel a pang of jealousy.

“Rue.” Bowyn grinned as the immediate sense of relief washed over him. Rue was fine, and even better, Arn was nowhere to be seen. Although Rue was smiling, her eyes were tinged with sorrow. Was he to blame for that or was this Arn’s doing? And where was Arn? Out trying to ogle a princess? Probably having a grand time exploring the intricacies of diplomacy.

He frowned as Rue announced that Mooney wouldn’t attack and Kaleb went on to refer to the wolf as a pet. “Pet? I wouldn’t let him hear that. Ol’ Mooney here can hold a grudge. And he doesn’t attack because she doesn’t want him to. Best to keep that in mind, some big, nasty teeth on this one.” Bowyn said, and he spoke calmly like it was just as a fact, rather than a threat. It was better to have strangers think Rue tamed vicious beasts as bodyguards. And it would clue Rue in that he saw Kaleb as nothing more than another stranger.

“Guess who Kaleb’s looking for? Annya. Seems like her being here is Avalia’s worst-kept secret. And, Kaleb here, happens to know Arn as well, small world huh.” Bowyn added, stopping himself from adding in that he’d heard nothing good about Arn from elf. He didn’t want to point out that he was right, it wouldn’t help anything. One elf’s words weren’t solid proof of anything and there was no need to disappoint Rue.

Myra kept her mouth open, letting Astra analyze her teeth until she was satisfied, closing her mouth soon after and looking at both Astra and Vrexen. While Myra was a bit confused on why both of them seemed to be so satisfied with the things she could do, she was still happy they were praising her, opening a satisfied and proud smile, completely oblivious to what the "sex work" Astra mentioned really meant.

As Vrexen's turn to show his abilities came, Myra moved nearby Astra, standing as she curiously watched Vrexen. At first, he showed them both his teeth and his claws, which weren't exactly interesting for Myra, but the moment he started growing, Myra gave a step back, a bit wary but still curious and amazed. Was Vrexen able to grow even bigger? If so, where did all of the extra meat and muscles came from? While Vrexen did explain something about the weird third eye he had, to Myra it was still just a boring, adittional eye on his forehead though.
Her bewilderment and curioisity with Vrexen's ability to change sizes was cut short though, when he suddenly yelled at Astra, making Myra give a small jump backwards, wary about Vrexen's sudden outburst. Having already experienced what it was like when Vrexen lost control over his temper, she was even more careful around him now, knowing he could change his size. If he had changed his size like this back when he held her head, he would easily be able to crush it.

After a moment of silence and after making sure Vrexen wouldn't lose control, Myra looked towards Astra, assuming that they had all finished showing each other their abilities. Approaching her, Myra pointed towards the bed, before pinching her dress and raising her arms, just like she did when asking her to help her to wear it again. Since they were inside the room, it should be okay for her to take off her clothes right? Besides, if they were going to rest, Myra definitely wouldn't want to do so while wearing that annoying dress.

Astra wanted to roll her eyes at Vrexen's comment, but she also wanted to keep those from being clawed out by Vrexen. And though she did not like what the demon had to say, he might have had a point. She'd gone this long with the skills she had in her repertoire, but she was still quite young for an elf and she could imagine what dangers Vrexen would have her go through. Vrexen and Myra were more than capable of defending themselves, and sure she chose to tag along with the two so she could continue her con artistry without fear of bounty hunters, debt collectors, and those she had crossed. Plus, the elf was sure Vrexen was the type that sought the usefulness in a person and seemed to have no qualms with killing the useless. In fact, Vrexen simply killed a Light Elven slave just for the hell of it.

When Myra tugged at her dress and raised her arms, Astra smirked knowing the demon had earned her reward in the removal of the clothing.

“A deal's a deal. You can be naked if it's just us three.” Astra pulled the dress off of Myra and gave a nod towards the bed. “Go head. I'll join you once I get in the mood. By the way, do either of you bathe?”

“Of course. Bathing can help mask scent. Soil and bodily fluids work best.” Astra silently nodded to herself before walking away into the bathroom with her bag. She was glad Vrexen would be sleeping on the floor tonight.

The vulpine kept petting his new pet as his eyes stayed fixated on Slick. His ears twitched every few seconds and his head was tilted on the man - it was clear that Kuroi was fully invested in the man instead of the fox. Not once did Kuroi bother to look away unless it was to shoot a quick glare at anyone trying to say or do anything to his beloved fox.

Once Slick finished answering Kuroi to the best of his ability, he immediately responded, "I see...you're the only...I've really encountered..."

Kuroi kept being careful with his words, not wanting to alert anyone that there was a human under everyone's noses. "I suppose if we encounter any others, I'll have to see how true that statements holds up..." he sighed before glancing over at the bartender who was taking others' orders. Kuroi's eyes shot back to Slick and tilted his head at him once more, "Guns? We do have them but they're rather expensive. I have some experience with them but I'm not that good of a shot, personally. Besides...it's easier to just walk up to someone and snap their neck..."

Regardless of how severe the act of jerking someone's neck at an unnatural angle, Kuroi noted this with a calm, casual tone. Such things didn't faze him nor did he really find any issue in talking about such things as if they were normal. Something to keep in mind. "Anything more you can tell me?" asked the vulpine once more.

Raven had glanced over the outfits when they had gotten to the shop and had considered for a moment asking for the second one, but then decided against it. She wasn’t entirely interested in the outfits at all. Or perhaps she just wasn’t in the right mindset for shopping for clothing. Besides it seemed like the man at the stall was going to be a bit of a pain. She just focused on ignoring him, having quite a bit of practice at doing so, but it seemed her companions weren’t about to. Raven knew sometimes it was good to speak up and then other times it was better to just ignore them. The drunk man was hard to read so Raven chose to ignore.

Shae decided on an outfit and Raven just stood there staring at people walking by. For a brief moment she could have sworn she saw Kaleb Carter, a famous actor she actually enjoyed and had once gotten an autograph from. He’d stepped out of the spotlight for awhile due to “personal reasons”. She remembered hearing something about a family member of his dying. Her heart had broken a bit for him when she’d heard that rumor. Her brows furrowed in confusion, supposing it could be possible. She watched the direction he’d gone, making note of it to potentially investigate further, when her attention was caught by Kharne and Ismael heading towards them. She didn’t look at them for long, however, as a scene began unfolding between her companions and the shopkeep.

It seemed that the shopkeep had offended Annya once again and she proceeded to roast him severely. While the roast was phenomenal, Raven wished she would have just let it go and left. The worst seemed to happen as the man broke his liquor bottle, grabbed a club, and seemed to be heading for them. Anger rose in Raven, but she pushed it aside as she decided to try and find words to calm the situation. Before she could, however, Saoirse began approaching the man. Raven watched in horror as more violence ensued. Shae threatened the man and then Ismael spoke up, but Raven barely heard him as she finally snapped. ”Saoirse STOP IT!” She screamed at the girl, fury clear on her face as she completely forgot Shae hadn’t wanted her name actually said.

”I am sick and tired of all the violence today! All you had to do was disarm him, you didn’t have to go this far and threaten him! It’s no better than him!” She then whirled on Annya. ”And you!” She pointed at the princess, briefly noting a dwarf approaching her. ”Why antagonize him? He’s obviously a drunken idiot, it’s better to ignore him! Better yet, we go find a different shop and not give him our business if his comments bothered you that much!” She then closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she heard the dwarf ask his question of Annya. She decided to take this as an opportunity to clear her head.

”Congratulations dude, you found her.” She said to the dwarf before glancing at her other companions. ”Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go take a walk and clear my head. Maybe find some alcohol and try to forget this entire fucking day. I can find my way back to the inn.” She said as she pushed passed Annya. Her hands were clenched into fists and trembling as she walked past Kharne, glancing at him briefly as if to say hi and then bye. She needed time to herself otherwise she was going to end up resenting all of her companions.

Location: Rattlesnake Bar
Inventory: An old yellow cloak, an old set of clothes, a waterskin, some smoked meats, a set of very old Metal Gauntlets, and an old Spear.

Uzul was just wandering through the desert when he came across some very lost spice traders. A dust storm apparently came in and they got turned around and now they were running low on supplies. Uzul, being who he is, offered to get them to Myriamor safely. He doesn't know how they ended up this far off their original path but it doesn't matter to him. The journey was difficult because of the merchants. They were quite whiney and kept talking about losing their heads if they didn't deliver the spices in time. Uzul could tell this was hyperbole but he could also tell some of the younger workers had fallen for their supervisor's story. Some prayed that they would get to at least say goodbye to their families. Uzul couldn't stand the pitiful sight and took them through a quicker, more dangerous path.

The path was had a few wyverns and giant spiders. They weren't much issue to Uzul but protecting their entire caravan was tiring, to say the least. He had to stay awake for two and half days to ensure their safety. He would have liked to gather their poisons for trade later but that supervisor wasn't worth annoying. Thanks to their constant travel they were able to make it on time, arriving on the dawn of the promised day. They offered Uzul some money but honestly not hearing that man anymore was more than worth the weary journey. Uzul waved goodbye as he believed it would be a good enough occasion to drink. He headed to the Rattlesnake Bar to drink and rest. It was cheap and he feels less awkward there in his old clothes than in some of the finer establishments.

Even after all these years he still finds the architecture of Myriamor mesmerizing. Uzul hasn't been to any other great city but the way the city mixes the desert motif with the life that can be found around the oasis is beautiful to him. A part of him can think that if things had gone differently he would have liked to just be a hermit with a little homestead around an oasis himself. The vibrant people make him feel at ease as well, some still judge him, but most mind their own and have learned to live alongside each other and create prosperity. He settled down near one of the gardens with a fruit salad for an hour or two, enjoying the sweet and well-spiced fruit. After zoning out, he chuckled a bit and remembered he was heading off to the bar.

Arriving in the bar just before noon, Uzul grabbed a corner table. Being his size, him sitting towards the center just makes it hard on everyone. After setting down his stuff, Uzul went and got a beer, "Could I also get some fried bread and fried vegetables as well?" The bartender nodded and handed him his beer and gestured for Uzul to go sit down and wait. As the food was brought, Uzul thanked the bartender and started to relax as he ate. As he worked on his beer he just watched people come in and out of the bar for the next few hours.

Annya had rolled her eyes and planned to just ignore the man. They had a fun-filled night in front of them and no time for this crazy person. She went to pull Saoirse’s hand toward the inn when she suddenly started advancing back towards the shopkeeper. ”Young lady! Return at once!”She had yelled after her but the human girl was in a blind rage. Annya was dumbstruck at Saoirse’s growing violent reaction, fumbling with the club that was thrown for a moment. Her eyes locked on the knife and she quickly made her way over as a crowd began to form and people started to gasp. ”Are you insane!?”

As Saoirse was glancing up at her, she pulled her to her feet none too gently. She matched her cold look with her own. Though she was happy the young girl could clearly defend herself quite well and was immensely skilled, Annya did not want her to unnecessarily hurt others just because they left a bad taste in her mouth.

Ismael’s voice commanding voice filled the air, sharing the same sentiment as Annya. She nodded to him, saying in a hushed voice sternly to Saoirse so only the two of them could hear. ” I don’t know what kind of place Earth is, but here in Avalia we have rules and they are enforced. It is not allowed to just randomly attack people. You are lucky the enforcement team is not already upon you.” A nearby person began to help the groaning, terrified shopkeeper up and she glanced at them. She rummaged quickly for a few amas in her bag and handed them to the random nearby person, ” Please get this pathetic man to the healing center.”

A young dwarf with a very impressive red beard moved into her vision as she was watching the drunken fool be dragged off. She gave him a comforting smile as the lad stammered with his words. He had kind eyes and she did not want to take out her anger on him. She had hoped the dwarves would side with them in this war but was perplexed as to why and how they found her. She sighed, letting free some of her tension as she gently replied, ” Yes darling I am. Are you a representative sent to speak with me perhaps?”

Though she had hoped the fiasco would end, Raven decided to flip out too. She glanced at the girl, and shook her head, speaking to them all with her reply, ”Raven, Saoirse. Standing up for yourself is very important. I will not apologize for making sure you are both verbally treated kindly in this world the best I can. Obviously, I will not agree with Saoirse’s violent actions, but I will also not apologize for my peaceful response, Raven. It is unfair to blame me for his wrong actions. Now handle yourself with class and dignity and stop screaming. ”

She blinked in surprise as the girl actually tried to leave to go off on her own, exclaiming, "Raven! Are you serious! You can't just go off on your own in a place you don't know!" Annya’s initial respect for the two girls dwindled a little. Both of them were clearly over-emotional and unstable. It was necessary to consider holding off on magical training until the two could become more rational-minded, but she supposed they truly were just children and it couldn’t be helped. Annya stood up rapidly to go after Raven, only for the crowd to close in tightly front of her as more gathered to see the fiasco. A cluster of voices crowded the air but the sound of someone calling for a guard could be heard.

Annya quickly turned to the others. ”Young dwarf, let us meet for breakfast at Surfside Cafe tomorrow morning at nine. I have a responsibility to these girls. Please enjoy the company of my friends Ismael and Kharne. “ She gestured to Ismael and then Kharne, ”Kharne I am very grateful for your aid. I will reimburse your purchases tonight for young Ismael. Saoirse and I are going to go try to catch Raven. You know how to reach me.” With that, Annya led Saoirse quickly through the crowd to get away from that area and to go looking for Raven.
