Slick lit up at the mention of Avalia actually having firearms. He wished he had a rifle or hell even just one of his pistols, but the magical portal went and messed that up. Rather expensive, huh? Slick was already trying to game plan on a way to acquire funds, but the mention of snapping necks drew his attention.

“Snappin’ necks? Easier?” He gave Kuroi a look of perplexity before nodding some. “You gotta show me what that looks like. Not here though ‘cus the folk are already eyeing us. I don’t mind a good tussle, but I ain’t tryin’ to start trouble like we did in the previous town.” Slick to a swig of the rich tasting beer before answering Kuroi. The fox-man seemed to still be curious about his world, and Slick could relate to him being that he just arrived in Avalia. Slick had initially thought he wouldn’t like Kuroi but the man seemed to be alright by his standards. He hadn’t tried to cross him or threaten him yet, so there was that.

“Well, I noticed you use those strange coins to buy stuff. You guys even use it for the heftier items.” Slick was digging into his bag with his free hand before pulling out a worn folded up one dollar bill. “Sure, we still use coin, but this baby here is what you want. Light, foldable, and easy to hide too.” He let go of his beer to unfold the dollar to display the front showing the United States heading with President George Washington looking his finest. He quickly crumpled the dollar up and placed it back into his bag “But your people got some things right. You all got bathing and grooming down. I mean I haven’t got a whiff of an ounce of must since being here. I figure the big green fellas like that one would smell something fierce, but they’re alright.” He had briefly pointed at Uzul who was seated by himself. “Where I’m from ain't so clean. Sleeping outside, not bathing for days, and then there was the sun. It beat down so hard. I reckon just as hard as this place… What else… It’s kind of hard not to get into the details. Just think, you and I are speakin’ one on one without some middle man trying to decipher what each of us are sayin’ to one another. Now I find that to be a grand thing to think about. There’s a lot of differences, but what really freaks me out are the similarities.” Slick then chugged the rest of his first beer. He set it down hard on the counter and looked Kuroi in the eyes. “So what’s the next move in this adventure of ours. I figure you’d know better than I with you and the lady being an item and all.”

Kaleb stared at Moonlight’s snout some as Bowyn brought up the wolf’s teeth and a reasoning as to why the animal wouldn’t attack him. He makes it seem like the wolf is just ready to put someone in the obituary. Noted. He gave an uneasy smile to Bowyn.

“Thanks for the tip.” Kaleb said just before Bowyn went on to address Rue. He told her Kaleb was looking for Annya and how he knew Arn. That lie was really growing, but luckily in Kaleb’s favor.

He was waiting on Rue’s reply as to why Arn was not with her, when some commotion was heard in a fast growing crowd down the boardwalk. I wonder what’s going on over there. He heard what he assumed were females shouting before as he looked in the direction of the crowd.

“I’m not too invested in looking for Arn honestly, but I bet he’s not far from whatever conflict that is over there.” Kaleb smirked and crossed his arms over his chest. “We should continue to the bar if we’re searching for Annya. She wouldn’t be trying to draw that much attention to herself. Besides, I’m in the mood for a good drink.”

Eris had been following Kaleb since she allowed him to take the lead, however she cloaked herself in her magic, becoming invisible to all around. She didn't need people realizing she was following him, especially if he got to talking to some and revealing useful information. This seemed to be the case as he came across a wingless fairy, something that was discovered later in the conversation. She saw and heard everything Kaleb did and had a few moments where she felt like facepalming and laughing at the humans' ignorance. He was quite good at spinning stories, but he wasn't too keen on picking up small details. Like the fact that they had seen the companions of Bowyn earlier. It was all quite humorous to her.

She knew she would need to make an appearance soon so Kaleb didn't think she'd abandoned him. She still needed this little puppet. A newcomer joined the group, the one called Rue and her wolf, Mooney, but where was the dwarf? Perhaps it was pure luck that the dwarf wasn't with her, otherwise the little ruse Kaleb was playing might have come to an end, though Eris was curious how he would have handled the situation. Likely played off being offended that the dwarf didn't "recognize" him.

Commotion caught her attention right as she was planning on strolling up to the group and she decided to hold off a moment longer. She even moved over quickly just to see what was happening and was quite pleased she did. There, in the middle of it all, was Princess Annya. She'd made sure she knew what the woman and her family had looked like long ago and recognized her in an instant. With her were a small group which Eris could only assume some of them to be humans wearing disguise rings, something she was well acquainted with as her mother was among the first to create some. If Eris were to guess by the reaction to the situation, the two females were human. So when one of them decided to storm off, Eris had no qualms sending some magic her way to help her blend into the crowd and make it much more difficult for the little princess to follow. She also noted the dwarf that had approached Annya, knowing just who he was.

Satisfied with the small bit of meddling, Eris swiped two pieces of honey toast from a stall before dropping the invisibility on herself and making her way back to Kaleb, Bowyn, and Rue. She placed an excited and cheery smile on her face as she took on one of her many personas. "Oh Kaleb, I'm so glad I finally found you! I found that sweet treat I wanted and I grabbed one for you too!" She linked her arm in his and held out the toast for him. "It was quite the adventure too, there was quite the commotion at one of the stalls. A red haired elven girl seemed to have attacked the owner of the stall, perhaps not agreeing with prices though to go to that extreme is a little scary, and it seemed another elven woman was in agreement as she held a club in her hands. Then the demi-human girl with them, such a cute little thing, seemed quite upset with the whole situation. Started yelling at them about being sick and tired of their violence before storming off. Poor dear, I do hope she hadn't been a victim of their violence as well." She looked between everyone in the group as she spun her tale with great animation. "Then this dwarf approached one of the elven women, but couldn't do much other than stare at her! He seemed quite enamored with her, I would have sworn I watched his eyes wander to certain parts of her body. It was really quite the scene, though it seems that authorities may be showing up soon to sort it all out." She said the last bit with almost a sign of relief as her eyes fell on Bowyn and Rue once more.

"Oh how rude of me for not making proper introductions! I'm Eris, I do hope you both can forgive impudence. Sometimes I get overly excited and forget my manners." She gave them a sheepish grin and an embarrassed laugh.

Myra was visibly satisfied and way more comfortable after Astra took her dress off. Stretching herself, Myra was ready to jump on the bed again when Astra asked if they cleaned themselves. Looking at Astra with a thoughtful expression, Myra looked at her hands, then her sides and bringing the tip of her tail in front of her. After a quick analysis, Myra nodded her head to Astra. While it wasn't really that dirty, she could certainly use some water to clean herself. That said, no matter how much she looked around the room, she couldn't see any water she could use. After spending a few seconds searching, she walked back to Astra, looking at her with a confused expression as she made a gesture of wiping her arms and tail. She didn't particularly care about the bed getting dirty, but Myra herself always had a habit of remaining clean, so it was better for her to clean herself before sleeping than having to do it later.

Bowyn nodded, satisfied as he caught the uneasy look on Kaleb as the elf studied the wolf. It seemed the elf would be thinking twice before doing anything to upset Mooney and Bowyn liked that added sense of security. His ears caught distant shouting that echoed loud enough to be heard over the normal noise of the port town, coming from one of the nearby shops. The winter fae rolled his eyes at the continued lack of civility that ran rampant through the rest of Avalia. Wouldn’t find a scene like that back home. He thought and Kaleb went on to suggest they grab a drink rather than search for Arn. Since they’d already run into Rue, Bowyn saw no need to argue. In fact, he and Kaleb seemed to be on the same page.

“Ya know, you speak more sense than any elf I’ve met.” Bowyn said, more than a bit surprised but willing to hang around the flashy elf if it meant they were going drinking. Kaleb had mentioned earlier he was looking to party and once the elf had a few he’d be much easier to get information out of. Mainly why an elf had to travel to River Port to join an elf-led war. Certainly, the Sun Elf armies would be more than willing to take on new recruits, unless Kaleb thought himself a more valuable asset, useful to the princess herself. Was he one of those older than dirt elves who could summon humans at his whim? Hopefully, a few strong drinks could loosen some secrets from him, and to Bowyn alcohol could really only help any given situation.

Then another elf, this one introduced herself as Eris, linked her arm with Kaleb's, and offered him toast. Eris went on to share the details of the earlier heard commotion. A pair of elves had started a fight with a shopkeeper over prices, attacking the vendor and frightening another demihuman who was tired of their violence. And of course, in the midst of all the conflict, was a dwarf there eyeing up one of the elves. Wonder who that dwarf is. Maybe Arn got tired of looking for a princess and settled for whoever caught his wandering eye.

“Bowyn.” He said gesturing to himself after Eris introduced herself. “And Kaleb here was just suggesting we grab a drink, and since I’d rather not run into the local enforcements here, I suggest we head over there now.” He added then glanced over at Rue to hear her thoughts on it.

It was decided Yuka would indeed leave to find an antidote and the lioness was soon gone. Aiko continued to tend to Nabarra’s wound and Orias, Orias waited unsure of what to do. Healing and wound care were just another one of his lessons that he had written off in his youth as useless. What did a prince need to know of medicine when they had servents for such things? One of the many mistakes of his youth, a youth spent learning only how to cause harm, to wield a blade, and of how to care for only himself. And what had changed? Sure, he now made blades for others to wield, years as a blacksmith in the foolish hope that the work of forging raw materials into something of use would, in turn, reforge him into something of use. But when the raw materials used were of such poor quality you couldn’t hope to forge anything worthwhile. The same, likely true of elves.

He could’ve helped Nabarra on the rooftop, maybe even prevented all of this, but he had left the dark elf to sort it out alone. Why? Because she shared the face of his people’s enemy. Have I changed at all? Or am I still repeating the same failures? Is this why, despite the prayers and offerings to Solaris, my magic still fails? And just like that there it was again, the looming shadow that followed him. The remembrance of so many failures; when he acted, when he did not act, either way, the same result. So he paced the room, occasionally pausing by the door to listen for any sign of intruders just in case anyone from the tavern had violence on their minds.

“So, this shapeshifting ability, not very common amongst other fox folks right? Useful though, a lot better than a 3 ama cat mask.” Orais spoke, attempting to make small talk with the likely not a demihuman as the awkward silence only served to allow his mind to wander.

Rue

Time: Dusk
Location: River Port
Interaction: @Helo Bowyn, @Tae Eris, & @FunnyGuy Kaleb
Equipment: Small backpack, two knives, rations, water flask, hygiene products

Rue remained silent while the group spoke. She didn’t confirm or deny Bowyn’s comments about taming wild beasts. Truth to be told, she had befriended many of the animals in the village. The light elf, Kaleb, seemingly knew Arn and they spent time discussing it. She didn’t interject, as the prospect of speaking more in front of him was causing her to blanche. Moony kept close to her side as she fell into place next to Bowyn. Her wolf suddenly tensed and gave her a stern look, which Rue returned questioningly. She didn't have to wait too long to figure out why; there was commotion up ahead which she couldn’t see.

A red-haired light elf joined, linking her arm with Kaleb’s and offering food. Her explanation caused Rue to furrow her brows. Sighing, she turned away and remained quiet. The unknown was making her nervous. What did she believe? Her temple began to throb as she contemplated everything. She bit her lip as a wave of dizziness swept over her and felt her forehead which was clammy. Knowing the inevitable had happened, she turned from the group and paused, trying to collect herself to no avail. ”I do apologize, but I don’t feel well and must return to the Inn. It was lovely meeting you all. I hope to talk to you soon.” Rue shot Bowyn an apologetic look as she quickly moved ahead and was lost to the crowd. Within a few minutes she made it back to her room, shut and locked the door, then collapsed on the bed, with Moonlight standing guard.

Kaleb felt a wave of relief when Eris suddenly arrived on the scene bearing a treat! I swear this woman has the best timing. It's not like I needed the help, but improvising like this has its limits… even for someone of my calibre. Kaleb linked his arms with Eris', smiling as he took a hold of the honey toast. It was a much needed snack and it looked absolutely delicious despite being a little heavy on the carbs.

“Wow this look amazing!” Kaleb said with faked awe before taking a bite. Damn… this is some good bread. Kaleb chowed down as the group started to stroll along with Eris telling the group what she had seen where all the commotion had come from. The beginning of what she was saying, he partially took note of. It wasn't of importance from his perspective. The mentioning of a dwarf staring longingly at an elven woman, however, drew his attention. Coincidence? Not a chance! That has to be Arn. And if it isn't...

“That was likely Arn. Just as I thought. Always the ogler.” Kaleb smirked as the smear continued. His eyes met with Eris' only for a short moment as he mentally acknowledged her convenience again. Suspicious? Not even. Kaleb was relieved that the woman came in so clutch. If things were looking up before, then things were definitely looking even higher now. Kaleb might not find Princess Annya but he would at least enjoy a great evening at a bar. Minus the wolf, the group was even, so the dynamic was perfect… Well it was perfect.

Rue suddenly decided to take off after making a few strange expressions in her eerie silence. He watched as she flew away with Moonlight trailing her on the ground. Despite her sudden departure, Kaleb was not too surprised by it. Ever since Rue arrived, there had been an odd tension between her and Bowyn. It almost felt like they got into some sort of fight and hadn't officially made up. It wasn't his problem though, so he casually waved goodbye to Rue as she left them.

“Are we still good to go to the bar or do you gotta… y'know… address that?” He gave a quick nod towards Rue who was still visibly in the air. Kaleb didn't even mind if Bowyn ran after his friend as River Port proved to be quite a small locale. Worst case scenario, Kaleb would run into the guy tomorrow. “Eris and I are good with whatever floats your boat. Right, Eris?” He grinned at his favorite person in Avalia by far. Eris was the best.

The wound was dressed, but there was no immediate result. Not that she expected it. "And we'll just dress her back up before she has a fit..." No need to agitate the apparently wounded and slightly prudish dark elf. "Poor dear, should have said something." But, with tensions as high as they are now, not garnering attention may have been best. Still, though, just gonna sit there, poisoned?

"The shape shifting?" Right, she slipped up earlier. "No, not very common. I shift about to suit my mood. You both still recognized me immediately, so maybe maybe the mask is better for a disguise, after all? It does comes in handy, though." Had he caught on? What would his reaction be, to a demon? Would it be like the other's reaction to a dark elf? It didn't seem like he was overly suspicious of her, but that could mean anything.

"So, how did the two of you meet? Quite the odd pair, I must say. You might even call it two ends of a spectrum, the two of you. What kind of dreams brought you to this place and company?" Aiko found herself gently curling a lock of Nabarra's hair around her finger and stopped, settling their companion into the bed and letting her be, now that she was dressed and dressed and they were waiting on Yuka.

Kuroi's eyes never parted from Slick as the two conversed. What the human was saying was greatly interesting to him. He nodded in agreement about the many similarities humans and life in Avalia shared - after all, both of them were pretty similar in looks and mannerisms overall (for the most part, anyway). What surprised the vulpine more was how different human society was to Avalian society. A lack of hygiene? Bigger language barriers? Inter-human racism? Paper money? It was rather bizarre, really.

As the two spoke, the bartender finally laid out a nice fresh mug of water for Kuroi to drink from. It seems like it would still be a while until the two got their food too. It was quite busy at this time of the day. The fox finally spared a hand to grab onto his mug, quickly bringing it to his mouth to down as much as he good in one gulp. "Ahh...much better..." sighed Kuroi in relief.

He looked back over at Slick and tilted his head at him, pondering his question a bit before answering, "Well...I imagine our female companion shall be joining us rather soon. After we get some grub and avoid gods know how many more fights we need to, we need to get on our way to the Sun Elves. She has to speak with some rather important individuals there..."

Kharne let Ismael take the lead this time and just meandered behind him. Possibly the laziest the human had ever seen the giant reptilian man. Almost as if he felt nothing nearby was a threat, or a threat so small it didn't warrant him being wary. A commotion drew the now equipped human, which got an inward sigh from him. Curiosity was not always something one should give into after all. Still it paid off...kind of. There was the rest of their party, except Little Red looked to be trying to kill a drunken crying shopkeeper, Annya was not looking pleased, and Raven looked pissed.

Words were exchanged and Raven tromped off, giving him a hi/bye kind of look. "Be mindful of your surroundings." He rumbled to her as she went past him. He was no ladies man, but even he understood 'I need space/time to cool off, lemme alone'. So he let her be, although he wished he had a smaller blade he could have handed off to her. He didn't smell any weaponry on her, but women tended to be crafty. More people began to crowd while Annya addressed a dwarf, the giants eyebrow began to twitch. He had charges to watch and this crowd wasn't helping right now.

"Alright you lot, get going the show is over!" He stated, his voice booming over the crowd and he started to move people away. He could have launched them, but instead he ushered them away forcefully. Well forcefully to them, to him it was like pushing children along. With his attention partially moved he addressed Ismael. "We'll be returning to the inn for now, the girls can regroup themselves. But I want to get you used to that armor. So...your exercises get to begin when we return." Kharne said with a rather large and toothy grin. Said teeth gleamed in the lamp lights, startlingly white and looked like if he bit someone they would die of shock.

With that the giant picked Ismael up like a sack of potatoes, up onto his shoulder, and off he went. That stride carrying the pair unsurprisingly fast. Although him weaving through the people lining the streets with animal grace helped propel them along.

884 Amas.

Fate was a fickle friend. Often, one was not even acquainted with the lady but still suffered the consequences of her whims. The young dwarf had already been caught in the chaotic winds like a leaf in a maelstrom. First the revelation of his parentage and subsequent responsibilities none had prepared him for. Next the sudden broken ties of failed new friendships. Now, the highly unlikely meeting with the very person he was ordered to aid accompanied by the fore told humans that were the only hope of Avalia against the twins and as of yet unknown dark demonic forces.

It had taken gargantuan conviction from Arn to even muster the courage to approach a stunning beauty such as Annya. A strong sense of duty and a hint of magnetic attraction had helped. However, the fateful meeting was not to be easy or uneventful no matter how much the medic would have liked it to be. The unfortunate meeting between fiery red head knee and the testicles of penitent elvish man had brought a crow. Apparently more companions of the princess showed up. A man, who looked like another elf but was much less good looking that even the grimacing stall owner that had harassed the ladies, stepped up to save prevent any further damage to the man’s pride and family jewels.

Behind him, a hulking brute of a lizard followed. Crowds were beginning to gather too but to Arn and his captivated eyes, only Annya mattered. That was until the white haired beauty that had been near the elven princess began to scream in frustration. Not even the young soldier escaped her verbal assault. ”Congratulations dude, you found her.” Arn opened his mouth to try and explain or excuse himself but was not given the chance. Apparently, she was upset at the turn of events and the actions of her companion and stormed off.

So much commotion, so many voices that the young soldier felt he may be back on the battle field. Thankfully, thanks to his experience in battle fields, he was able to keep as calm and controlled as he possibly could taking note of the things around him. The white haired girl seemed to him to be as emotionally charged as the winter fairy lad. She also had white hair, could she perhaps be a winter fairy too? The comment regarding wanting alcohol and fresh air did seem to be parallel to that of Bowyn’s comment before he left their room.

The fiery headed girl who had delivered such a devastating blow to the Elven man radiated anger so palpable that Arn could swear he could feel its heat. There was something in her eyes that should have warned the man against antagonizing her. Even a fool should have been able to see that the young woman was not to be messed with. Unfortunately, it seemed the stall owner had found out the hard way. The young dwarf made a mental note.

The male who had approached her and taken control of the situation had an air bout him that could only be possessed by a skilled fighter. The scar on the man’s face could hardly be explained by any other profession. But it was the man’s voice that made Arn assume that the man was some sort of warrior and possibly a soldier or adventurer. There was a commanding tone in it that had been tailored to make troops obey in the din of battle.

Lastly, the huge lizard. Even a blind man could guess that one’s profession. Strong arms, body like that could not belong to anything short of a warrior, a blacksmith, or some sort of pit fighter. His bellows began to disperse the onlookers who had taken interested and bebang to crowd in search of free entertainment. Arn felt very small compared to the big creature.

Finally, Princess Annya seemed to notice he was there. Her big eyes turned to him and the young dwarf stiffened. Her melodic voiced ask her simple question yet, the dwarf could not muster any sort of intelligible response. Instead, he gave her the barest of nods, his eyes wide and staring. Perhaps it was this, or perhaps it was the storming of the white haired lass that drew those lovely eyes away from him and her sweet voice to address her companions.

”Young dwarf, let us meet for breakfast at Surfside Cafe tomorrow morning at nine. I have a responsibility to these girls. Please enjoy the company of my friends Ismael and Kharne. “

The young medic again could only nod at her request unable to deny her but not lucid enough to offer any sort of argument if he had wanted to. He watched the elven princess follow behind the white haired lass who had disappeared into the crowd. Turnign towards those of her companions that were left he shifted his head between the man and the lizard. He felt his voice returning but before anything could come from his lips, the lizard man cleanly hefted the man on his shoulders and walked off.

Arn had been so low under his field of vision that the big lizard mand probably did not see him. Either way, the young soldier was suddenly left there alone after the majority of the people had been forcefully dispersed by the dragon kin and others left on their own after the free show had ended. Only he and the whimpering elven man who was groaning and holdin onto the endge of his stall for support. The young dwarf huffed not aware he had been holding his breath.

“Well shit…” he said under his breath. But not all had been in vain. He had found the princess and gotten an audience. Now he needed to see if Rue had better luck than him at finding Bowyn. His boots felt heavy, or it could just have been his heart as he made his way back towards the river front inn they were staying at.

“Sun Elves? Oh right, those are them purdy ones with the pointed ears.” He kept his voice low to keep the conversation somewhat discreet. He then helped himself to another swig of beer to break the conversation and think about Kuroi's answer some. Kuroi hadn't corrected his inference regarding his relationship with Mika and it seemed that Kuroi was not aware of all the moves Mika planned on making in regards to saving Avalians from the impending doom. Slick really needed more to go on for both of these different subjects, but this was a decent start.

It was possible Kuroi failed to understand what he meant when concerning his and Mika’s status as a couple. Slick and Kuroi were from different places after all and it wouldn’t be the first time two men had a misunderstanding of words. Now when it came to speaking on what was next to come, Slick had a few ideas. Kuroi was holding back more of the plan, Mika was holding back more of the plan, or there simply was no plan at the moment. A lack of information was dangerous but a lack of a plan was even more so.

“I wonder how long it's gonna take that Rosarita gal and her gang to get here. I mean we ain't been here longer than an hour but I'm the type that can only sit and dally for so long.” Slick’s voice raised some as he was speaking on an issue that always bothered him. Taking some time out to hit a saloon was nice but Slick preferred getting some kind of work done. “What’s this friend of hers like anyhow? She nice like our gal or what?” Slick asked before the bartender set a bowl of red colored mush and a spoon in front of him. He frowned down at the bowl’s contents before shrugging, grabbing the spoon and digging in. He’d seen worse meals and if Avalia could have better beer than the Frontier, he could only assume the food was better too. His first spoonful of sandberry pudding was even tastier than he expected, being so sweet and tasting exactly like that of cinnamon. “Now I’ll be… Good pickin’s bartender! Good pickin’s!” Slick said with a big ol’ grin.

"A romp!"She repeated and clapped her hands together. "Well, we'll see about that hm? Can't fault you for yearning for so as I am enchanting." She turned on her heels and made her way for the door. Later that night, Yuka did return with the antidote and had given it to the others to administer, among other new possessions she had acquired in a mysterious small sack. She winked at the others, before disappearing again, "I will return in the morning."

"Hum...I'm not entirely sure, really. Despite my connection to her and my mother, I tried to stay far away from politics as much as possible. Unfortunately, given the position I was in and am currently in, I haven't had the luxury to stay true to those words..." He responded before gulping down more of his water.

Once the conversation was over, he let out a small sigh and began to coddle his pet fox. He attempted to speak to his new pet again only to receive no response. Well, what could he expect from a baby fox?

Kuroi kept waiting for the bartender to bring over him and Slick's meals, occasionally glancing over at the man and then over at Slick. The Vulpine hadn't paid much attention to anyone other than the man in charge of bringing him a meal, his fennec fox, and the human who sat next to him. He was quite aware of his surroundings at the moment, just overall unconcerned. He could only hope he'd be able to enjoy a good meal without any attempts of drugging him or physical encounters.

The Twin-Headed Dragon

Time: 1 pm and onward
Location: Roshmi

Once the Amora had landed, guards surrounded the ship as the twins prepared to exit and make their way to the king. ”Make way,” Basilian commanded the soldiers. “If anyone has anything to say on our way there, they will be dealt with swiftly.” Amarantha followed closely behind her brother as she exited, a smirk on her face as she caught some confused and concerned looks from her brother’s words. Had they all become so used to a ruler who was so cowardly and relied on others for protection that the thought of a strong ruler that could defend themselves confused them so much? That was very amusing to the woman as she glanced over at Basilian.

”Oh come now brother, they’re only trying to do their job.” She said with a small laugh. ”Though I do suppose they would just get in the way if we did have to deal with someone. I wouldn’t want to have to accidentally kill someone who’s on our side.” She said with a sigh as she noticed some startled looks. Oh what poor fools.

The angered glances of demi-humans were plentiful as they continued up the main street. Faces emerged from windows and doors while mothers pulled their children in closer. A collective of incomprehensible whispering rushed through the air.“Fuck you! Roshmi should only have demi-human rulers!” shouted a male cow demi-human from the side of the street. "They are alone, let's kill them now!" The cow demi-human continued trying to gather an uprising to kill the twins.

”Yeah! That feline girl from earlier was right! The King did side with the dark elves! We can stop them here and now!” Some voices of agreement joined and some of the demi-humans began to band together with weapons while others did not hesitate to run from the scene in order to avoid the escalating tension.

Basilian glanced at his sister “Deal with the others if you like, but that cattle is mine.” He said, giving her a grim smile. Amarantha merely sighed as she nodded, looking to the group determined to kill them.

"Let's see...one, two, three….four of you and only one of me. What's a girl to do?" She counted, pointing at each one as she did so before tapping her lips with her finger. "I suppose I have no other choice…" Darkness erupted from her, quickly engulfing the four, blocking them from view. At first there were confused noises coming from within the darkness, but those noises quickly turned into screams of pain and horror. In moments the darkness dissipated and where had once stood four armed men now lay four horribly mutilated bodies.

Basilian looked at the bodies with a twisted smile. He turned to the wide-eyed and now silent crowd, gesturing toward them, “Anyone else care to try us?” He said, only to have the bull demi-human charge towards him a moment later with an axe. Basilian drew his sword drawing in shadows along the blade side stepping seconds before the horns gored him. He raised his sword bringing it down on the demi-human’s neck beheading him on the spot. The body bubbled with dark energy before bursting, spraying the area with organs and blood.

The others who were once ready to fight stared in shock at the scene before them backed down running or turning their heads to avoid making things worse. ”Well, it would seem they have lost interest in us, sister. I suppose we should continue on our way, we shouldn’t make this false king wait too long.” With that they proceeded to the Roshmi palace.

The twins met with the yellow-bellied king of the demi-human who was incredibly timid and wouldn’t barely look them in the eye. He was quick to turn everything over to them and scurry out of there, off to hide with his wife out of the way of the dark elves. Amarantha ordered for the princess to be brought before them only to discover she was missing. Enraged by this, she sent a small team to locate and bring her back. They were also informed of some in the city speaking out against them and encouraging others to put their faith in the humans the light elves had summoned, rumors of the princess even being one of them. The twins ordered that anyone heard speaking out against them to be arrested and brought before them immediately. Within hours there were three brought before them and they were swiftly executed. Their bodies were strung up in the most public areas and a decree placed that anyone who committed the same act as them would suffer the same fate. Anyone who tried to remove the bodies would also be executed. A reign of terror had begun in Roshmi and many fearfully retreated to their homes, leaving the streets rather bare with the exception of those brave enough to venture out.

What the twins once considered a minor threat was now becoming a nuisance they could not ignore for much longer. These humans needed to be dealt with and so another decree was placed. Anyone who captured and brought them a human would be rewarded handsomely. Amarantha requested them to be brought to her alive as she wished to do experiments on them, wanting to know more about their magic. Of course if the human proved to be difficult for the person to capture and died in the process they would accept that, but the reward would be significantly less. They broadcast this message in every city they could in hopes to get as many people hunting humans as possible.

Roshmi held the highest amount of helius and amoras and the twins weren’t about to let that go to waste. They ordered for these transport ships to be used in order to bring more of the dark elf army to the mainland quickly. The threat of the dark elves was growing rapidly.

Day 2: Townsday, Juume 22nd

Time:9am

After an eventful Summer Solstice, tension looms. The dark elf army had reached the Sun Elf Kingdom and all have now heard about the battle of light and darkness that continued on through the night. The light elves were victorious in the end, or so they thought. The dark elves had succeeded in damaging their supplies to the extent they had wanted despite casualties on both sides though that was what had ultimately led to the dark elves' retreat. Roshmi, though a few riots and protests had initially broken out, had been successfully conquered by the dark elves.

A new day begins. How will you prepare yourself for what's to come?

Hours earlier…

The odd deadly trio set out to traverse the open sea aboard their hippocampi-drawn watercraft. They had started bright and early, and that very brightness caused Vrexen to curse the sun rays that stung against his body. His calls for violence against the bright pink orb in the sky were both humorous and scary to all who had the chance to witness it. At the moment, the red-faced demon sat with narrowed eyes while wrapped in a thick white blanket acquired from their stay at the Yenworth Inn.

Myra, being a demon more acquainted with the sunrays, instead found her own kind of misery on the voyage. Seasickness and boredom had colluded in making Myra greatly desire the end to the journey across the giant wavy pond. Curiosity occasionally drew her to the hippocampi and almost every time she was shooed away from them by Astra.

“Myra, they’re nice huh? Hey! Get back!”

. . . .

“Myra, hold it RIGHT there!”

. . . .

“Myra!”

. . . .

“No!”

. . . .

“Myra… MYRA NOOO!

With three out of the four hippocampi reined to the watercraft, the trio were eventually met with the sight of the Malthemoor Naval fleet tasked with occupying Aldrakh’s port. Astra took point as planned, but the Malthemoor military officers were more interested in addressing Vrexen as he was identified as being a member of an “eight-member Demon special purpose force supporting Malthemoor.” And like that, the trio had freedom of movement within the stone, wood, and metal built Aldrakh. Astra was just glad things were looking up after what happened with the hippocampus that didn’t make it with the rest. They didn’t need the smelly old equestrians anyway, so the group would have to find a buyer soon.

The Aldrakh Orc Clan is known to be quite civil but often war with not only the Dugmaghord orcs but also the dwarves nearby. They tend to side with Malthemoor during conflicts. They are the more populated orc clan and thus tend to have better resources, architecture. They live in houses and buildings made from stone, metal, and wood having a stable settlement and staying in one place. There are various shops and bars around that orcs frequent that are named simple and straight to the point names such as: "The Tavern." Trading and selling here are held at trading posts and shops set up around the settlement. Items and supplies tend to have high value to them here. They do have a meeting hall that also serves as a court area to settle their disputes. All disputes are settled in a trial like those of humans. Here ranks are gained by a vote. The Orcs here are raised at a higher standard than those of Dugmaghord, for the most part. They eat together and party together similar to that of Dugmaghord. The former is their favorite. Gender roles do not exist amongst the clan. Marriage ceremonies are held between any two orcs that desire to be together. They are culturally atheists but celebrate holidays with festivities with music, games, and other activities orcs consider fun.

Aldrakh was booming with the presence of both Malthemoor’s Dark Elven troops and members of the Aldrakh Orc Clan. These two groups of Avalians meshed well as the elves provided revenue while the orcs provided goods and services. Aldrakh served as a forward base that the Dark Elves could deploy their units from by both land and sea. The troops seemed to be in higher spirits than normal, holding an air of confidence while commenting on their occupation of Roshmi and the attack on the Sun Elf Kingdom supply cache. Astra was initially surprised Malthemoor was dominating in the offensive since they were meant to be strangers to this side of the world. Then she remembered her travels and her encounters with many of her kind. Dark Elves were unwanted on the mainland, sure, but the mainland had more of a permissive environment than that of Daka. Permissive environments were always the playing field for spies and the like.

“I smell no demons, yet these creatures… These are the orcs?” Vrexen took a whiff of the air as the group walked towards town. He recalled Astra mentioning these people during their travels. I want to kill one… I must kill one!

“Yeah. They're the tough ones here in Avalia. Strong, fast, and they're good at killing all sorts of things.” Astra looked towards two Orcs showing off their newly forged swords to each other. “A lot of old elves say the only thing stopping these big hunks from conquering everything is their high mortality rate. They don’t live as long as us, but the thing that really does them in is how they’re constantly throwing themselves into some kind of fight. Even when no one wants to fight ‘em, they just fight each other… or they do this thing where a chief fuckin’ howls at the moon or some shit, and then they just get so battle crazed, no one has a choice but to fight ‘em.” Astra shrugged. “Different cultures just have their own weird thing going on.”

Equipment: The clothes on his back and a pouch of amas.

As Leaf awoke to greet a new day he had but one thing on his mind, breakfast. The day before had been filled with tension; the promise of a great war upon Avalia’s horizon, humans summoned by light elves to battle the dark elves, and the horrific broadcast of the murder of several princes. It wasn’t so much that he thought breakfast was more important than yesterday’s concerns, but he had faith that light elves could handle all that. And breakfast was a very important meal, one couldn’t expect to have a great day without it.

Trouble was his most loyal companion, Star, an aging cheetah, still slept, and without intervention, she might very well snooze right through breakfast. Now, what sort of friend would I be if he let her miss breakfast? Leaf studied the sleeping cat for a moment before making his move. He lept across the small room towards the bed where the sleeping cat lay. Then in a burst of impressive speed and reflex, Star was gone and Leaf tumbled forwards and into the wall next to the now unoccupied bed.

“You test my patience cub,” Star growled as she stretched, claws digging into the wooden floor.

Leaf, who now laid on the bed, feet propped against the wall and head dangling off the side of the bed, grinned. “Breakfast time?” He spoke and his stomach then growled to emphasize his point.

The cheetah’s ears twitched at the thought of food and Leaf spun and jumped from the bed landing feet first on the floor. It was absolutely breakfast time. “Race you to the market.” He added before he shot towards the door. He grabbed a pouch of amas off a table, knocking the table over in his clumsy haste, and headed out into the desert from a small home on the outskirts of the city.

The only thing better than an excellent breakfast was starting the day with a good run before breakfast. Leaf ran, feet occasionally slipping in the sand but never quite losing his balance, and for just the briefest of moments, he almost believed he could fly. The warm sun beat down upon the city in heart of a desert oasis, and despite the handful of other places Leaf had seen, he knew no other city was as beautiful and free as Myriamor. He loved the way the air smelled here, the sand on his feet, and the wind that blew through his fur.

Star quickly caught up to him, the agile cheetah easily matching his speed but moving more gracefully than he ever could. Inside the main part of the city was a collage of beautiful sandy-colored buildings decorated with splashes of greenery that blurred together as the pair ran. Leaf weaved around people, jumping over the occasional obstacle in his path, as the scent of the various food stalls drew closer.

When he was almost at the stopping point he glanced around for Star and didn’t catch sight of the cheetah. Today was finally the day he bested the old gal in a race and Leaf couldn’t be more excited about his near victory.

“Loser eats a sal-” A flash of gold moved from behind a fountain and between his feet causing the feline demihuman to lose his balance and tumble forwards, landing in the shallow water. Leaf lept with all four limbs, higher than he really thought himself capable of, and threw himself out of the water. “A rotten trick.” He said as he tried to shake the water from his fur and clothing.

“Loser eats a salad?” Star asked with a sound that was somewhere between a purr and a laugh.

“I was going to say salmon.” He lied and leaned against the fountain dipping his paw in and splashing some of the water at Star. “Maybe you could find me one?” He asked with a toothy grin. Star then let out a soft growl of annoyance and shook the water from her own fur.

Now wet, a little tired, and very hungry, Leaf made his way to a butcher shop and purchased a few fresh cuts for Star before heading to a food stall where he purchased some sticks of grilled and spiced meat. Despite the dreadful encounter with the fountain he was now content with a full belly and ready to wander the city for a bit.

Previous Night

Unlike the events that occurred at the Nest, Slick and Kuroi actually had somewhat of a fine night at the Rattlesnake Bar. Slick might've thrown out his own personal tip for such good service if he was that type of guy. Before Slick could get to the point of complaining about "Rosarita" and the others' lack of arriving, the two had called it a night. The two briefly reunited with Mika and the three of them discussed what was planned for the following day. Mika would get some well-deserved R&R while Slick and Kuroi met with Rosaria and the humans she was escorting. Whenever Mika was finished, the whole lot of them would lay out the rest of what was supposed to happen from there. That was the plan.

On this fine day, Slick rolled himself out of his bed before the sun could even creep up from the horizon. He let his eyes adjust to the dark room so he could creep out of the room without disturbing Kuroi or the fennec fox he slept soundly within another bed. The man-made sure he had all he needed to venture out on his own before tipping his hat to the sleepers and slipping out the door.

Seeya around. Slick strutted through the quiet inn before stopping at the front desk where a visibly tired gecko Demihuman stood. Slick guessed the poor soul was at the end of his shift.

“Sun's 'bout to rise, ain't it?” Slick asked as he leaned his right sight on the counter with a smug grin. The Demi-human slowly blinked his large eyes as he tried to understand Slick's odd manner of speaking. He looked down at his time-teller and then back at Slick.

“Um. The sun is rising soon sir.” Slick's grin dropped some at the man's lack of enthusiasm.

“Heh. Anyone ever tell you you're a charmer? Anyway, you know where I can get myself a good horse that'll get me 'round these parts?”

“I would try Sturdy Stables on the south side of town, but I’m not sure they open before sunrise.” Slick stood himself up straight and pointed to the window giving off the warm pink glow of the sunrise.

“Well I’ll be. Lucky and charmin’ all rolled up into a scaly mess.” Slick snickered as he walked from the counter and proceeded out the door to Myriamor.

“Thanks?” The gecko just wanted to be done with his shift.

Upon exiting the inn, Slick looked in the direction of the sunrise. If Avalia works like home, should be simple to navigate south with the sun jus’ comin’ up. This town though. It’s a bit complicated, but I’ll find my way if I keep it pushin’. Slick walked through Myriamor, constantly using the sun as a reference. Sure there were some dead ends, but the man found his way all the while snagging some amas from some drunk sleeping in the street. The man had a decent knife, but Slick left it so the fool could at least defend his life if need be. It took about an hour to navigate to the very south of Myriamor and it took another thirty minutes to find Sturdy Stables. He picked up a lot of information on his stroll. A bounty was put on the heads of humans and Roshmi was taken over. Slick couldn’t say he wasn’t bothered. He had a bounty on his own head before, but he figured he could keep a clean slate longer than just a day.

“Sturdy Stables. How can you help me?” Slick said as he entered. “What in the…” He let out as he noticed an oversized lioness in one of the stables.

The never-ending water, the constant rocking of the boat and the strong sun above their head were definitely helping to make the trip even more miserable to the poor Myra. While the tricks and hints Astra gave her did help with the seasickness, there wasn't much she could do to run away from the sun. Even if she was a bit more used to it than Vrexen, whose reaction was really amusing to watch, it still wasn't exactly comfortable for her to be exposed to the sun like that, which made even sleeping hard for Myra.

Incredibly bored, Myra kept trying to find things to do to help relieve her boredom and end the trip faster. From walking around the ship, to using her tail to make waves in the water as the ship moved, she did everything she could at least once and after she got bored of everything else, she turned her attention to the hippocampi.

Much to the poor creatures' dismay and to Astra's misfortune, Myra soon found the distraction she needed from the trip by poking the hippocampi with the tip of her tail, provoking them or investigating them, curious by what exactly they were. Every time she poked or approached the hippocampi, it made the boat give a small jump forward as they tried to swim away, scared of her. While Astra did shoo her away again and again, Myra had quite literally, nothing better to do so she kept going back to the hippocampi after Astra got distracted and took her eyes off her.

Her constant poking and harrassing of the hippocampi soon gave Myra an idea though. If every time she touched them, they swan a bit faster, if she scared them a little bit, they would swim even faster and Myra would be free from that annoying trip sooner. With Astra getting distracted once again, Myra found the perfect opportunity to put her plan into motion as she sneaked nearby the hippocampi, before faking a lunge at them while showing her teeth and claws.

Her plan went wonderfully well at the first moments, despite Astra's shouts. Terrified as they saw her, the hippocampi immediately tried to swim for their lives, the sudden acceleration making Myra fall to the ground. For a few seconds, the boat almost doubled it's speed as Myra, amused, looked at Astra and Vrexen, proud of her plan. That was, before she heard the loud snapping noise and the boat began to slow down. One of the hippocampi, due to how terrified it was, had struggled so much that ended up breaking the restraints, setting him free.

Myra only had enough time to give a single glance at the hippocampi before it quickly disappeared under the waters before she looked at Astra with a guilty expression.

Unsurprisingly, Myra was harshly scolded for her little 'stunt' back in the boat. Fortunately, the atmosphere soon got better once they arrived into Aldrakh. While Myra was a bit wary about the green-skins, having already seen a few of them back in Daka's forests and knowing how easily they turned violent, she was happy that she and Vrexen could move around much more comfortably than they did before in Yenworth.
With a mix of waryness and curiosity, Myra moved around Aldrakh carefully, trying to hold herself back from wandering away from Vrexen and Astra.
