As Batwoman, Kate finally found herself–a woman who had finally come to terms with her dishonorable discharge in the United States Armed Forces, with her abduction as a child, and with the weight of the entire Kane Estate on her shoulders.

But finding herself meant that the darkness that had swallowed her for her whole life was brought onto others. And so too did the shadow of her past become infected with the darkness she thought she was free from. In her second year as a vigilante she came to odds with a secret society of occultists called The Religion of Crime and at the center of its nucleus was her twin sister, Elizabeth, whom the Kane Family had thought to have been killed when the twins were abducted in 2005. Elizabeth, reborn as Alice, sought to bring Gotham to its knees. However, despite her scheme’s failure she too slinked back into the darkness when Kate had a chance to end it, but failed to commit.

It has been almost a year since. Despite working in parallel to The Batman, Kate remained at odds with him and his mission; as well as his cabal of operatives. As far as she is concerned: she is alone.

This is a slightly modernized retelling of Kate Kane’s early years as Batwoman given the attributes of a scaling timeline. She wasn’t kicked out of West Point, so her military service record is fairly filled in this version. She’s been effectively working as Batwoman for three or four years. Her father doesn’t help or even know she does what she does and I’ve incorporated elements from the DCAU film “Mystery of the Batwoman” into her backstory and supporting cast. Only a year ago she was fighting the toughest fight as a vigilante and she isn’t truly affiliated with the Bat-family outside of wearing the Bat symbol as a sort of identity, purpose, and ideal.

Largely, outside of occasional team-ups if permitted Kate is on her own and a large part of her current arc is getting past her early “stick-in-the-mud” hostility to other vigilantes. In terms of her would-be villains I have ideas of setting her against traditional Batwoman foes like the Wolf Spider and the returning Religion of Crime as well as traditional Bat-family and Gotham elements such as the slew of organized crime in Gotham, Anarky, Killer Moth, and the like. I’m trying to be malleable with the prospective Batman players so whoever they are they can do their thing and I can do mine and outside of referencing events in our respective posts we can essentially do what we want with little issue.

I hope I can make this work and you'll have me.

Conner began his life in a test tube. He was created in a black site laboratory funded by the Department of Defense called Cadmus, whose goal was to create a loyal, easily-controlled clone of Superman. Conner was the only successful creation of the program before it was mothballed in 2010 following the formation of the Justice League. Making his appearance as the teen hero Superboy, Conner was quick to embroil himself in the superhero world. He joined a league-associated team of young heroes and began to foster a relationship with his namesake.

The next eight years allowed Conner to grow into his own person. He battled numerous rogues from Superman’s stomping grounds and some new enemies of his own, including the Doctor Westfield, former head of Cadmus that sought to reassert control over his creation. Conner began and ended several relationships, left and joined more than one super team, and was briefly tricked into helping Lex Luthor. Through it all Conner grew even closer to Superman, whom he would come to find was also the journalist Clark Kent, who’d come to be something of an older brother to him. Times were tumultuous, but they were good, too.

Then there was Despero. Conner wasn’t there for the attack on the Hall of Justice but he heard it was brutal. People died, including the love of Clark’s life. The Justice League collapsed. Superman retired. Everything that Conner thought of as permanent fixtures of his world were all gone in a single week. Devastated, angry and grieving, he sought Clark out and tried to convince the man to not give up- to fight his grief and refuse to let it consume him. Conner failed to convince the old man. Conner left the farm and wouldn’t return for nearly three years.

In that time the world was left without one of its mightest protectors. Try as he did to carry on as Superboy, Conner felt the absence of his mentor sharply- and so did everyone around him, he found. Hesitant to open old wounds but sure of the need, he flew back to Smallville. Conner offered his apologies, his condolences, and made a suggestion: into such a time as Clark was willing to return, Conner would wear the mantle of Superman. Clark saw the transfer of his legacy as more permanent than that, stubborn old man that he was. He handed Conner the keys to the Fortress of Solitude and bid him good luck in his efforts.

I've talked at length about my love for Superboy before so my applying for Conner shouldn't come as a shock. Something I haven't done with him yet but have always wanted to is put him in the role of Superman. I find the idea of him taking up the mantle fascinating, if only because he's such a strange fit for the trunks. He isn't the same kind of man Clark is, and likely never will be: Conner has an edge to him, an uncertainty in himself, and a streak of anti-authoritarianism that I hope to explore in detail this run. Conner was the one-time property of the U.S government, after all, and now he's Superman- there will assuredly come a day when they want to repossess what is rightfully theirs.

His relationship with Clark and Jon will play an important role in this story. His feeling toward his old mentor have changed drastically since Clark's retirement. Conner's unabashed admiration for the man has dwindled, leaving him feeling disappointed, angry and even a bit betrayed for how things ended. Conner doesn't want to be Superman. He wants Clark to overcome the grief and self-doubt that's been holding him down and return to the mantle that truly belongs to him. Four years have passed and that hasn't happened yet, however, and Conner can only hold out hope for so long. He's uncomfortable stepping into the shoes of Superman, believing himself unworthy of the legacy, but the necessity of the duty drives him forward regardless.

One of Superman's loftier goals is the reestablishment of the Justice League. He feels its dissolution was a mistake even with the mounting political pressure behind it. Conner hopes to reach out to former members as well as his friends from other teams in the hopes of rebuilding it before another major attack, like Despero, can catch them off-guard.

Following the senseless murder of his parents, a young Bruce Wayne made a solemn vow to wage war against the criminal and corruptive forces in Gotham City. Utilizing the vast family fortune that became his own, Wayne traveled the farthest corners of the globe and learned from it's greatest masters in fields relevant to crime prevention, martial arts, stealth, engineering and detection. Returning home as a matured adult, he sought to use his acquired skills to the streets, but it wasn't enough to overcome his enemies. He needed an edge, a weapon that would transcend any normal methods of a crusade such as his. Inspiration came to him in the form of a creature that had terrified him as a child, making him realize that weaponizing fear itself was the key. Donning the terrifying cape and cowl to mimic that animal and adopting an arsenal of highly advanced gadgetry and vehicles to sell the illusion that he was more than just a man, Bruce Wayne became Gotham's nocturnal protector - THE BATMAN.

This version of Batman has been operating in Gotham City since 2008, and is roughly in his mid-forties. He was a founding member of The Justice League and remained with the team until their disbandment, seeing no desire to return. His history largely reflects that of the Post-Crisis/Rebirth continuities, where he went through his origin period and became a masked vigilante, made enemies of increasingly volatile opportunists and the insane, adopted several recruits into the fold and oversaw their training, built up an arsenal of some of the most advanced non-lethal technology and weapons on Earth, and firmly established himself in the world of business while also presenting the facade of a careless playboy. He's legally adopted Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and Cassandra Cain as his children, and has a biological son in Damian. He considers Clark Kent a personal friend, but has largely remained distant since the former's retirement. He still believes that Jason Todd died the night that The Joker murdered him. And while he and Selina Kyle nearly married, they broke it off and have chosen to remain what they were - allies, enemies, and everything in between.

Bruce will be driven by one of his worst habits: the fear that eventually, he'll lose everyone closest to him to violence. While he obviously has a rather large family of agents, Batman has become increasingly isolated from them and operates on his own in the field. This makes him vulnerable to behavior that could threaten everything he's built, particularly when his enemies seize the opportunity to make his life hell under the machinations of a mysterious third party looking to destabilize the well-being of Gotham's protector out of personal revenge. To do that, Batman will be put through a gauntlet of his worst foes, from The Riddler to Bane, Ra's Al Ghul, The Penguin, and eventually, The Joker, who still has yet to pay for the murder of the second Robin many years ago. And on the path towards that endgame, he'll be forced to come into conflict with those who bear his symbol to ultimately challenge this pattern of behavior.

Within that journey, my main goal will be to help reinvent some of his villains - or at least, steer them toward a natural evolution. Characters like The Riddler and Two-Face have remained stagnant for a long time, and I want to show what happens when they actually realize that their old methods aren't working. To a lesser degree, I want to see how much of Batman's own personal world can survive a sort of reckoning - what can remain whenever you have Bruce decide that his life needs to change.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And that light was brought forth by his favorite angel. Lucifer, the Morningstar. But three seconds after Creation, Lucifer rebelled. For the ultimate sin of questioning God he was banished from Heaven into the lightless pit teeming with demons and other abominations. After a millennia of warfare in the pit Lucifer emerged as ruler over the void and christened it Hell. From his throne Lucifer spent billions of years torturing mortal souls, keeping the bloodthirsty demons at bay, and warring with God and the forces of Heaven.

But fifty years ago something happened.

Lucifer became bored. Bored of the endless routine Hell offered, tired of the intrigue from demons, and fed up with humanity's preconceived notions of the devil. He was tired of being the scapegoat for humanity's flaws. People did not sin because he made them, they sinned because they were human. So Lucifer did what anyone does when they're fed up with a job:

He quit.

He left Hell behind and now lives in Los Angeles. His piano bar, Lux, caters to the rich and famous of L.A., the weirdos and the depraved, the ones who are truly free... you know, his kind of people. But in the five decades since his abdication, Hell has gone... well, you know... and the divisions between Earth and Hell are beginning to fray. Something is coming. And unlikely as it may be, the devil may be the best savior Earth has.

This version of Black Canary is not the child of the original. Rather, she came to be Black Canary all on her own, though she didn't start wearing the name or fighting crime until her boyfriend, Oliver Queen, was killed. After losing him, Dinah fell into a deep depression where she struggled mentally and emotionally to pick up the pieces. As crime continued to soar in Gotham, Dinah made a promise to herself to fight so that others did not experience the pain she had gone through. She trained hard, mastering acrobatics, martial arts, and some weaponry (firearms, sword). She has had her signature "Canary Cry" for as long as she can remember but has always hidden it out of fear. Now that she patrols the streets, she uses it to help fuel her desire to rid Gotham City of crime. This version of Black Canary is a lounge singer at The Iceberg Lounge and rides a motorcycle because she is badass like that.

Black Canary is attempting to right the many wrongs she has experienced growing up, for good or for ill. Though she is trying to be a hero to those who need her, she is not without her own faults. One such fault is the murder of her boyfriend. Dinah still has not forgiven the person who took him from her and that is a driving force behind her actions. Should she get the opportunity, she will pursue *insert villain here* to her fullest capacity. This may put her at odds with other heroes. There is also a connection between her and Green Arrow (or someone else if someone wants to play Green Arrow and not have a connection). The two butt heads, but there is something more there. Dinah is not afraid to put herself out there to help others, leading to many a villain knowing who she is. But where there are enemies, there are also friends.

The son of a two-bit henchman in Two Face's employ and a girl with a spectacularly poor judge of character. Jason Todd was born into the gutter and, after daddy took a 9mm lobotomy between the eyes, leading his step-mom to punt his little runt ass out onto the street the very next day, seemed destined to die in it, too.

But the universe has a weird sense of humour sometimes, and every once in a while Lady Luck rolls her eyes and deigns to go along with it's chicanery. So when the goddamned Batman himself encountered the young lad in an alley one chilly Gotham night, ten pounds underweight, garbed in moth-munched rags, clutching a tire-iron in a panicked, white-knuckled grip and looking all kinds of stunned and stupid as he stood next to a Batmobile put up on cinderblocks, our boy Jason was quite surprised that instead of getting the violent ass-whooping every part of his child imagination screamed he was about to receive, he got... a warm meal, a roof over his head, a much needed bath and a new job...

...As the new Boy Wonder.

And all things considered, he was actually pretty damn good at it. Sure, he lacked the easy charm, grace and finesse of his predecessor, but the boy was diabolically clever, tenacious, far more vicious and more than Barb, Dick and maybe even Bruce himself, had a deep, visceral understanding of the city he lived in, the people he shared it with and the crime that plagued it. Having been born into the dirt, having grown up surrounded by crooks and owning the scars, anger and chip on his shoulder to prove it.

...And to his shame, no matter how many lives he'd saved or costumed bad guys he put away while working with the Bat and, eventually, the Titans, that well of anger— that pit of raw fury— never went away. As a matter of fact it just kept on getting deeper and deeper, until it threatened to undo his home, his ties to the people he cared about and all the good work he actually did.

In hindsight, Jay would openly admit that he was a bit of an ass back then. And had Alfred not been there to snap the both of them back on track with a few choice words every now and again, he and Bruce probably would've come to blows a few times in those later years at Wayne Manor. But he was loyal. Unflinchingly, unquestionably so; Not just to Bruce, but Alfred, Barb, Dick, the Titans... hell, he even took a bullet for the Crazy Cat Lady once. Whenever they needed him to bleed, he bled. No questions, no complaints, nothing asked in return. And so eventually, horrified by what his own ego had done, Jason began to swallow his pride, put a lid on his anger and drive all that energy into fixing what he damn near broke.

Three nights of torture, a crowbar, a clown and a metric assload of C4 in a dingy warehouse in Sarajevo put an abrupt stop to all that.

Just like waking up screaming like a wild animal in a Lazarus Pit and tearing his way through the assassins of the League of Shadows who'd only been trying to help him before breaking out and plunging headlong into a gorge put him at rock-bottom. Figuratively and literally.

It took the kid a few days to recover his senses. Another week after that to get the League off his scent. And then came the really tricky part.

The climb back up.

Legally dead and with nothing to his name but what clothes he could steal, Jason began the long trek home, Selling those skills he'd learned under the Batman to pay his way. Riding alongside Bedouin nomads against a corrupt regime, fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with the Peshmerga against marauding extremists in Iraq and Qurac, liberating and smuggling a little girl who had the misfortune of having a claim to the Bialyan throne out of her homeland, earning a significant vendetta against a human-trafficking ring out of the Balkans he made damned sure to settle, hunting Atlantean Army holdouts in the Amazon who'd stubbornly refused to acknowledge who won the last war, running afoul of venom-juiced drug cartels in Central America and Mexico... Every day, every leg of his journey seemingly plunged him into a new war, some new conflict of feud to get dragged into the middle of, or some new wrong he couldn't ignore. And though Jay always tried to pick the right side, wars were rarely that simple.

And he didn't always win.

But dammit, he kept on trying.

Until finally, after years of blood, tears, friends gained and lost, triumph and failure... he did it. He was finally home. He could literally see the silhouette of Wayne Manor looming over the horizon down the highway.

...But he couldn't do it.

Looking down at himself, parked on the side of the road and soaked in sweat and terror, struggling to breathe, Jason could only think about how long he'd been gone. All the things he'd done, all the hell he'd seen and the wars he'd fought and just... couldn't do it. Couldn't just waltz back into their lives with a wave and a smile like nothing had happened. What would they say? What would they think?

He was not the man Bruce, Alfred or any of the rest would have ever wanted him to be.

Hell, all things considered, he doubted he ever was.

Instead, he did a quick uey, planted the skinny pedal into the floor and peeled right the hell out of there. Clutching his steering wheel in a white-knuckled grip as his mind screamed at him to put as much distance between him and Gotham as humanly possible, only ever stopping every once in a while to hurriedly pump gas and get back on the road. Driving non-stop for a day and a half until, in his frenzy and panic, he wound up slamming his car into a ditch outside of Omaha.

Lucky for him then that it was a local farmer and his tractor that found him and not the sheriff, who, after pulling his wreck out of the ditch and seeing the state of the young man inside, all but dragged him home with him, sitting the boy down at their dinner table while his wife fussed over him to make sure the lad was alright.

It took Jason a solid day to stop shaking. Half a day after that to start talking in a manner approaching 'somewhat coherent' and finally a third day of their hospitality, sitting on their porch with a dog in his lap, burying it's head into his neck to sheepishly ask about that abandoned-looking woodland property down the road, surprising the hell out of the older couple when he went into town and bought it with solid gold bullion that very same day. Looking to all the world like after everything he'd been through, Jason Todd was finally ready to settle down into a nice, quiet life out in the mid-west.

But idle hands have a habit of finding use. And it wasn't long before our boy put himself back together and began plying his trade once again; adopting the guise of the Red Hood and marketing himself as a sort of 'Hero-for-hire'. Taking on jobs big or small, near or far and only staying in Omaha for brief stints at a time between cases— either to catch some rest, work on new projects, repair his equipment in the barn or, every so often, help his neighbours out when their cantankerous old tractor acts up or when their grandkids need a baby sitter.

Sure, he's not the man Bruce would have wanted him to be.

...But slowly and surely, little by little, he's learning to live with it.

Alright, so as you miiiight've picked up from my whole wall o' text up there, this version of Jason is just a bit of a departure from the usual brooding badass we all know and love. So before you get out torches and pitchforks, hear me out—

That rage and anger is still very much there, but this is a Jason that has had more time to marinate on his own failings and look inward, to be humbled by his experiences overseas, but not be completely broken by them. As, though life was undoubtedly shittier after his crow-barrening, there were light spots in between; little glimmers of victory, things he can look back on with pride and people he can remember with deserved fondness... a whole bunch of little things meshed together to keep that little light burning in his heart. And though it's not the way anybody intended or would have wanted, he's slowly becoming his own man.

To that end, I gotta admit that I haven't got much in the way of set plots for the guy— but that was always part of the plan anyway; to be the plus-one to any player character that needs a hand until fate conspires to bring him back to Gotham, either to collect on his due vendetta with the Joker, protect the family he left behind or maybe even save the Big Bad Bat from his own damned self.

So, with that in mind...

Angry aliens got you down? There's a Hood for that.

Got a creepy superpowered ex-boyfriend that won't leave you be? There's a Hood for that.

Inter-dimensional Demon Daddy knocking at your door? There's a Hood for that... but he probably ain't happy about it.

TL;DR: I'm trying to trick all of you into letting me play a secretly wholesome Red Hood. Is it working?

In the dying days of another world, an assortment of heroes and great men who functioned at the forefront of man's potential came together to fight a beast that sort to end it all.

In the middle of the fight, they found themselves vibrating through the then semi-permeable dimensional planes that separated their world from our own.

Heroes from the city of Charlton in their own world, found themselves suddenly in Hub City, Illinois.

What will they do here? How will they get home? Is there still a home to go to? And if they could do so, would they even WANT to?

Virgil Hawkins was barely 15 when Atlantis waged war against the surface world. He watched the internet coverage of the events, awestruck, as the teenager witnessed the rise of the modern-day hero coming to the defense of innocents. The founding members of what would become the Justice League inspired him, so when he developed his own powers just months later in an event that would be dubbed The Big Bang, he too donned a colorful costume like his idols.

Virgil spent the next three years of his life learning the ways of a hero through repeated trial and error. He faced off against dangerous foes, formed powerful alliances with other Dakota-based heroes, and struggled to balance his personal life with his growing responsibilities. College proved to be a change of pace, as the young man moved to California to study and start a new chapter of his life. It was here he met other teenage heroes who welcomed him into their group. For 16 months, Virg fought for justice alongside these young titans. And, while he often felt out of his depths against the large stakes his team found themselves against, Virgil felt proud to stand against evil with them. Then, tragedy struck.

His father passed away and Virgil returned to Dakota City to be there for his sister. His return revealed a city that had fallen into chaos. Realizing his true place was in Dakota, Virgil decided to stay for good and return to his roots. Alongside new heroes that had risen up in his absence and old friends, he spent the next six years cleaning up his city. An endeavor that proved most successful. For the first time since gaining his powers eight years ago, Dakota had become a truly safe place. Static had become a symbol for the citizens of Dakota City, and anyone who tried to challenge the beloved hero proved to be a fool.

But as one symbol faces a meteoric rise, another would face a catastrophic fall. The Justice League, Virgil's longtime idols, faced an epic battle that would become their last. While ultimately prevailing against their foe, the damage done was too much for the League to survive, and the heroes Virg had worshipped since a boy retired from the spotlight.

In the four years following the League's disbanding, Virgil has watched as his city prospered while the rest of the country struggled to maintain hope. It seemed with every passing moment, more and more threats came out of the woodwork with no unified front to stand against them. The American people hadn't just lost a team of superheroes, they had lost a symbol to believe in.

Virgil intends to give them their symbol back.

Leaving Dakota City in the safe hands of his longtime allies, Virgil has decided to travel the country to revitalize the hope that had been lost. To restore Justice.

* * *

This is a Static that is at the height of his career. He's successfully faced all his classic foes time and time again, he and the other Milestone heroes have almost eliminated all gang-based and superpowered crime, and he's found a healthy balance between his personal and hero life. He's already graduated from university, mastered his powers, and found his forever person. I'm not looking to tell the story of a fledgling or struggling Virgil, nor am I planning on writing someone who is tired and jaded of the hero game. This is a confident, idealistic, adult Static who is ready and willing to take charge to make the changes he believes in.

This is also a Static who won't be centered in Dakota. That's been done before, and frankly, I won't ever be able to tell a better version than what we saw in 2004. While Virg still has his connections to the city and will return there from time to time, Dakota City and its rogue's gallery won't be the focus here. All of those stories are in his past.

Virgil's goal is simple: to return the Justice League as a symbol of hope. To do so, he intends to travel the country to inspire the people and rally the heroes. He aims to seek out his idols and also his former teen teammates.

The story I intend to tell is also simple: one that encourages interactivity. I'm going to have Virgil stop at just about every major DC location in the continental United States and make some waves, both IC and OOC. I think these games are at their best when players are writing together and I want to do my part in encouraging that. I will, of course, write individual posts without relying on others, but I'm going to be trying to coordinate with other players pretty regularly.

Barbara Gordon spent her developmental years watching the Batman work alongside her father. When Gotham's Dark Knight debuted a young sidekick in the form of Robin, Barbara was inspired to be a better Robin and thus Batgirl was born. Eventually earning the trust of both the Boy Wonder and Caped Crusader, Batgirl was brought into the fold and became a part of the family, aiding not only Bruce and Dick, but also Dick's successor, Jason. Forming a sisterly bond with Jason, it was the second Robin who took it hardest when Barbara was attacked and left for dead by the Joker in her apartment.

This event left Barbara temporarily unable to walk due to the bullet grazing her spine. Jason on the other hand was driven by his rage to a point of recklessness which resulted in his death at the hands of the Clown Prince of Crime. Unable to fight crime like she used to, Barbara focused her efforts elsewhere and became the information broker known as Oracle. Despite the good, she could do as Oracle, it wasn't enough for Barbara. Pushing through her physical therapy, Barbara worked harder than ever to get back to the physical form she had been in prior to her attack.

This is a Barbara Gordon that has a mission. The further she finds herself lost in that mission, the more she's realizing that she needs allies. That's where Cassandra and Stephanie come in. One is a mysterious girl that Barbara happens to rescue on the streets of Gotham, the other is the daughter of a supervillain, playing tattletale vigilante. But together, the three of them are the Batgirls.

While this version of Barbara was attacked by the Joker, she was never left paralyzed, though she did suffer a spinal injury that left her in rehabilitation for quite some time. During that time, she became Oracle, finding new ways to help people before eventually being able to re-don her cowl and return to the streets. While all of Gotham is under the protection of the Dark Knight, Barbara has laid claim to the district known as Burnside. Burnside is an 'up and coming neighbourhood' currently undergoing a restoration funded by Wayne Enterprises in the aftermath of a fire that devastated most of the borough. The area is home primarily to Gotham's young adults and is centred around Gotham City University.

Our story will kick off with Barbara finding a common link between several cold cases left unsolved by her father. Unravelling that thread leads her into Gotham's underbelly and into a conspiracy as old as Gotham itself. In the process, she'll face reinterpretations of other familiar foes, train new allies in the form of Steph and Cass and work alongside the other members of the extended Batfamily pending cooperation from their respective players.

For thousands of years, the Amazons of Themyscira thrived in peaceful isolation, until a stranger washed ashore on their island. An outsider, a soldier named Steve Trevor, had crashed his plane on a vital mission to save innocent lives. To learn how much the world of men had changed in their exile, the Amazons chose to send a champion and emissary to return Trevor to his home. A contest was held to see who would be their champion, and much to the shock and surprise of the Queen Hippolyta, the winner was none other than her daughter Diana, who had entered the contest against her mother's wishes. Having proved herself worthy of the task, Diana was granted weapons forged by the gods, vowing to protect not just the Amazons, but all of humanity, from the forces of evil.

Upon arriving in Man's World, she was dubbed 'Wonder Woman,' and was surprised to find herself just one of many costumed champions of good. For several years, Diana fought the good fight, joining forces with the alien Superman, the vigilante Batman, and many others to form the Justice League, in the hopes of being a guiding light for all in dark times. She won victory after victory, defeating the forces of the sinister war-god Ares, the bestial Cheetah, the brutish Giganta, the diabolical sorceress Circe, and even her own magical clone Donna Troy, eventually helping her duplicate redeem herself and become a hero in her own right.

These victories, however, would amount to precious little when the alien conqueror Despero came to Earth. Wonder Woman was one of the first to engage the brute, and initially had him defeated, offering to spare his life if he left the people of Earth alone. Despero would take advantage of this momentary act of mercy to blindside Diana, leaving her nearly crippled and out of the fight, helpless to watch as thousands died in the ensuing battle.

Blaming herself for Despero's rampage, Diana has spent the past four years pushing herself harder than ever. Even as she exhausts herself trying to make up for the blood she believes to be on her hands, she now finds herself questioning the mercy that Despero had exploited, and has begun to wonder if humanity truly needs another 'hero,' or if what it really needs in these times is a warrior.

This version of Wonder Woman has been operating as a superhero nearly as long as Bruce and Clark, and given the weirdly timeless nature of Themyscira, has probably been training and studying for far longer. In terms of her powers, she's roughly on par with her movie counterpart, strong enough and fast enough that she can perform incredible feats, but still has to rely on her skills and her weapons to contend with the real heavy hitters. Ever since the dissolution of the Justice League, she has kept fellow heroes at arms' length, even ones she had once considered dear friends. She has been in a crisis of confidence since then, wondering if the high-minded idealism of the League was ever a good idea. This is an especially precarious point, as she's now also responsible for the impressionable young Cassie, and has to decide what kind of lessons she is going to teach her protégée.

Wonder Woman is a character that I feel suffers in a solo setting, since no two writers can ever seem to agree on the finer points of her mythos or her supporting cast. Because of that, I want to make her a roaming character, able to wander in and out of events with other players and play off of them.

I also think that given the nature of this game's premise, Diana is probably the best character DC has to play around with the relationship between superheroes and death. Like, we know Batman is never going to kill the Joker, so it feels almost like a waste of time when they bring it up. People get up in arms for years when Superman puts down a genocidal maniac in a movie, to the point where it's haunted the character for nearly a decade now. It's been hard-etched in stone that Batman doesn't kill, and Superman shouldn't kill. But Wonder Woman? She just might. And what's more, she might be completely right to do so. While I have no intention of turning Diana into a bloodthirsty warmonger (she's an Amazon, not a Klingon), I think she's the right character to explore the concept of powerful people having the power of life and death, and can make a persuasive argument for either side without coming off as a preachy, meta-aware lecture.

Kieran Kent aka Kor-El is actually Lor-Zod, the son of Dru-Zod. He was conceived, born and raised in part of the Phantom Zone where time still moved. He was seen as a last chance of salvation for the prisoners of the zone. He was freed a few years before the Despero attack, but due to some unforeseen and unknown circumstances his memories were wiped.

A young child at the age of eleven in a strange, unknown world with no friend or family in sight. He just sort of drifted for a while. Learning English wasn't difficult for him. He watched TV's in windows and read newspapers and picked it up rather quickly and efficiently. He found out about heroes, the Justice League, and most importantly Superman this way. He didn't know how, but he recognized the crest on the hero's chest. He followed the story to Metropolis where he ended up encountering his first villain. At first he just thought he was a weird little man that wanted to play, but he soon realized that the games this man wanted to play were dangerous. He took down the Toyman and continued his search.

His search didn't take long because what he was looking for had found him. Superman tried to help him figure out who he was or where he came from, but he didn't have any luck and a huge part of Clark felt that in a way all Kryptonians were his responsibility and he knew that Lois wouldn't forgive him if abandon this kid to be on his own. So he took him to Smallville where he gave him a name, introduced him to Jon and Lois, and enrolled him in school, but not before teaching him how to control his powers. Kieran had a family and he was happy, but that would change one fateful day a few years later when Despero attacked and his new mother was killed.

Kieran loved Clark, but he could always see a deep sadness within him that he wished he could do something about. He had grown to love Lois too, but his grief was nowhere near on the same level as his father's. Having the powers of a god, but being unable to save the one you love made it all pointless. Part of Kieran felt responsible as well. He wasn't a member of the League but he should have been there. He was a Kryptonian. What good were these powers if he didn't use them when the world needed them most? Kieran did the best he could to help him in his grief, but he knew that nothing he could do would ever be enough. He wasn't his real son and he couldn't bring his wife back either.

After a while Kieran was bored with the mundane. He wanted to show Clark that he was wrong to retire and that his team of heroes were wrong to disband. With his reluctant blessing Seraph started his career as both a solo and team player. At the time the name Superboy was taken and he honestly didn't feel himself worthy of the name Superman after all he had learned, but wanted to one day earn it so for now he'd take to the skies as Seraph, Earth's Angel.

Superman is without a doubt my favorite superhero, the other being Dick Grayson and whatever costume he's wearing. Anyway, I love Kryptonians and what you can do with them storywise when it comes to these godlike beings wanting to experience life as humans while doing what they can to protect them. I also like the premise of nature vs nurture which is what I'm going with here. Kieran here is giving a clean slate and one day there is a possibility of his memories coming back and he'll have to decide whether he's loyal to Earth, Superman, and his role as a hero or will he be loyal to his true family and his father's nature and plans for him?

With Kieran he's going to be battling a lot mentally. Not as concerned with his amnesia he's more concerned with being worthy in the eyes of a grieving father who may not even truly see him. He's just another reminder of what he lost with Krypton and even in his retirement he's being forced with responsibility he never asked for. Whether or not that's how Clark sees it that's how Kieran sees it. He also feels overshadowed by Jon, his true son, and Conner, the carrier of his mantle despite him being the true Kryptonian.

Also I know the Justice League disbanded four years ago, but if any teen groups popped up or stayed during that time Kieran likely would've joined one or two during these past four years.

Kitrina is the illegitimate daughter of Alberto Falcone and his illicit lover, Anna de Luca. With her father already the un-favourite of the Falcone children, Alberto being discovered as the Holiday Killer in the year of the Long Halloween did Kitrina no favours, and Carmine's murder - the severing of the last piece of goodwill toward her - sealed her fate. From then on, with her father incarcerated and her grandfather dead, Kitrina was left in the 'care' of Mario Falcone, her uncle, who partially blamed Alberto for Carmine's death, and was more than happy to unload this blame onto Kitrina by proxy.

When, in the aftermath, the efforts of Batman and Jim Gordan finally dealt a mortal blow to the Falcone Crime Empire, Mario and Kitrina were reduced to living in the Narrows; trying desperately to claw back Falcone assets that were being steadily liquidated, the situation only got worse. Eventually, Kitrina became embittered, numb, and angry enough to try something stupid in a last-ditch effort to earn back some respect, some much-needed cash, and maybe, just maybe, something daring enough to start bringing the Falcone name back into notoriety in Gotham.

That "something stupid and/or daring" is a heist on Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne, magnanimous philanthropist playboy as he is, was well-known for Wayne Enterprises' outreach programme, that guaranteed stable employment and life coaching for less-fortunate Gotham residents. Kitrina is by no means unintelligent, and applied under the pseudonym 'Holly Robinson', getting a position rather quickly and using her time within the company plotting and scoping.

Hoping to find something within the belly of Wayne Enterprises that she can use as blackmail for the board, Kitrina/'Holly' has everything planned out to propel her out of Mario's vengeful clutches, and secure the Falcone name once again as a force of nature within Gotham, reclaiming her birthright and landing her back in the lap of luxury as she deserves.

Hopefully.

With an older Bruce, a retired Selina, and all kinds of Bat-babies running around Gotham, I'm looking forward to establishing a new Catwoman, taking influence from Selina's character as Kitrina/Holly's mentor, but also spinning a well-known anti-villain in a new direction.

Kitty Gets Her Claws
The research has been done, the plan has been made, and the time has come for Kitrina's heist on Waynetech to finally happen. What she seeks and what she finds are completely different things, but Kitrina will find her hard-won quarry will push her in a career direction she never could have imagined, and rubbing shoulders with persons she otherwise would have never met.

...But Satisfaction Brought Her Back
Under the tutelage of ex-Catwoman Selina Kyle, Kitrina Falcone has become quite the successful thief; however, when Sofia Falcone, surviving daughter of The Roman, catches wind of Kitrina's new money, she sees it as an opportunity to start rebuilding the Falcone Empire. Which Kitrina would have no issue with, provided her dear auntie knows how to show respect to the new generation of mafia in Gotham.

A Nice Big Ball of Yarn
Kick-starting a mafia empire is no easy task, especially in Gotham, where fierce competition hounds you at every corner. One specific player in the Gotham underworld has welcomed a return to a more traditional mob format, but he's set his beady eyes on Kitrina's budding empire, working backstage for the perfect moment to steal the limelight from the new Falcone boss. In time however, it will be revealed who's really pulling who's strings...

"We the unwilling, lead by the unqualified to kill the unfortunate die for the ungrateful."

It's 1968, and that pretty much sums up the average soldier's opinions on the Vietnam War. It's a fucking mess if you ask anyone who is even paying attention and there seems to be no end in sight. While President Johnson digs his heels in with an unprecedented bombing campaign with the ever optimistic goal of turning North Vietnam into the world's biggest parking lot, the CIA opts for a more surgical approach.

Green Beret Captain Franklin Clay heads up a new unit of less than desirable soldiers known as The Losers. Their targets are high-ranking VC members, as well as VC sympathizers and collaborators operating in South Vietnam. With intel given to them by their Agency handler, Max, they carry out a covert war designed to draw bring South Vietnam to the negotiating table and to get President Johnson four more years in the White House. But as Clay and his team wade deeper into the murky waters of Vietnam, they discover their work is in service of something much sinister than even the propagation of the US industrial death complex.

"Ooo I heard it through the grapevine, not much longer would you be mine. Ooo I heard it through the grapevine. And I'm just about to lose my mind"

When a ARVN general has his niece kidnapped by a suspected VC gang, The Losers traverse the seedy and dangerous Saigon underworld to make sure she is found before it's too late.

"I think it's so groovy now that people are finally getting together. I think it's wonderful and how that people are finally getting together."

The Losers are called on to watchdog a prisoner of war exchange at the Vietnamese DMZ. The swap carries with it serious cold war implications. Unbeknownst to Clay and the others, Roque has very different orders regarding the safe transfer.

"I'm going up the country baby, don't you wanna go? I'm going to some place where I've never been before."

The Losers are dispatched on an assassination mission towards the Laotian border. Their target: a high ranking NVA officer the CIA believes is running a heroin pipeline from Laos to South Vietnam. As the group travel northward, they begin to discover their mission is not all it seems to be, and start to question just who the real enemy is.

Thousands of years ago, the Council of Wizards protected the developing human societies from all manner of threats. Over the course of centuries, those battles took their toll on the Council, until Shazam was the last. It was only then that the man recalled the life he’d left behind, the family that he’d forgotten, and went in search of the tribe that he’d turned his back to many generations before. He discovered his people massacred, a single boy pulled from the fire to survive his family line, placed in shackles and cast into the turquoise mines of Ancient Egypt. When the spark of rebellion was ignited by the boy’s brash nature – courage or foolishness - he was to be executed, a child sacrifice to serve as a slave to the god Toth. The Wizard saved the boy from death, keeping their relation concealed as he allowed his powers to flow through the youth. Shazam’s purpose was to mold the boy into a proper champion who could protect humanity after him.

That was 5,000 years ago. Teth-Adam is still learning, and it’s been a rough road to get here.

Shazam gave the boy the power to overcome his demons. Instead, the child conquered his enemies. Leading a revolt, the city-state of Kahndaq in the ancient world was founded upon a turquoise mine as the slaves cast off their shackles and drove out their Egyptian masters. And, for a time, there existed a place of prosperity, knowledge, and peace that was unrivaled by any, a desert analog to the fabled Camelot. A classless society, where all men were free and equal to one another. But women were traded as property, not even second-class citizens. Order was maintained through a strict series of laws, with public executions carried out in the middle of each week. For hundreds of years, this jewel shone brighter than Egypt’s dynasties, until an usurper known as Ahk-Ton seized the throne of Kahndaq through an infernal pact known as the Crown of Sabbac. The Wizard Shazam intervened in the battle that unfolded, which laid waste to the palace and surrounding city. He broke Ahk-Ton’s crown and banished the demon Sabbac back to the flames of Hell, and then entombed Teth-Adam in the wreckage of his city to dwell over the choices that had ushered in the tragic rise and fall of Kahndaq.

That tomb was unearthed by a British archaeologist in 1928, but it wasn’t a boy who stumbled out of his prison – it was a young woman. Stripped of his (her) powers, Teth-Adam found that the only spell that he (she) was capable of casting was the name of Shazam. Adopting the identity of Mary Bromfield, he (she) would become a member of the Justice Society of America during the Allies European campaign in World War II. Unable to say the name Shazam, the red, gold, and white garbed hero became known as Captain Marvel, though the heroic actions of both herself and her companion Liberty Belle were often denigrated in comparison to their male counterparts - precisely the lesson about walking in the shoes of the oppressed that the Wizard had in mind for Teth.

At the end of the War, Teth/Mary was tasked to stop the atomic bombing of Japan. Refusing, Teth/Mary instead allowed the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima to take place, as he/she believed it a strategically sound move on the part of the Allies. For this defiance, the Wizard summoned Teth-Adam to the Rock of Eternity, restoring him to his original form before casting him across the cosmos, to make his way back (literally and metaphorically) to being Earth’s champion.

Teth returned to find the world embroiled in war once again, this time from the sea as Atlantis invaded. With his youthful appearance, violent disposition, and brash manner, Teth-Adam clashed with the Justice League and instead found more of a kinship with the teenage titans that operated on the fringes of the League’s tolerance (or apathy, whichever may have been the case).

Today, he is a solitary figure who often sits atop Mount Justice and looks out over the world that has caused him so much grief. He’s supposed to be Earth’s champion. It’s a job he’s been training for since time immemorial, and he’s still got a lot to learn.

Drawing inspiration from Justice League Beyond’s interpretation as Billy, Shazam, Black Adam, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel being 5 separate identities sharing 1 body, this is a reinterpretation that pitches Teth-Adam singularly in those roles. Typically, I focus on Billy Batson but my vision often chafes against the modern retelling of his personality. In this instance, I merge the idea of “Asshole Batson” with Black Adam, probably not at all from having watched the movie recently and I think it makes for a more compelling and interesting character than either Billy or Teth-Adam by themselves.

I’ve worked out a connection with Static with @Retired owing to their shared “titans” history. Other characters of the period are also welcome to work in connections.

In terms of plots, the first story out the gate will be a return to Kahndaq in a Mummy-esque Indiana Jones style adventure, then some vignette style stories to allow for some collaboration if anyone desires before I jump into a second Temple of Doom styled story.

The Brendan Frasier and Harrison Ford are strong in this one.

Rachel’s life is beyond a far cry from what anybody would call a good one, yet, it is a tale that is unfortunately common in the streets of Gotham. She never got to know her mother, having lost her at an early age to the most common ailment in Gotham; a bullet. Instead, the young Roth was forced to live out on her own, one among the many homeless living within Gotham’s alleyways. It was cold, and life was hard, yet the child found a way. She had to. These first few years alone on the streets of Gotham spent dodging crime, stealing food, and drifting between shelters somehow seemed blissful compared to what was yet to come.

On her seventh birthday, Rachel's entire life suddenly flipped itself upon its head. Seemingly out of nowhere, she was woken by a sudden voice from seemingly behind her. Promising change in her little life, that she could present Rachel with something more than what she had thus far. As the voice spoke, the noise in young Rachel's head slowly grew and grew. A cacophony of others' thoughts, their emotions, all flowing in from every angle. She could suddenly feel the entire city, and the hellscape that so many lived within its concrete walls. As she cried and begged for silence to return amidst her mounting confusion and fear, the voice spoke once more. Clearer this time, and sounding almost exactly like her own. The noise in Rachel's head seemed to quiet as it spoke, promising to make everything quieter. Slowly, Rachel stood and asked the voice a simple question as she turned toward the source. A fateful question, whose answer forever changed her path.

"I'm you."

As it replied, Rachel was horrified to see a figure, not unlike herself standing just before her. Its skin was a deathly gray, and it bore six glowing red eyes upon its face. A confident, casual grin sat on her features as she saw Rachel's reaction. "Good. Let's begin." The voice said before the figure seemingly disappeared and Rachel's world fell into Darkness. When she awoke, it was already nighttime. All around her were the mangled bodies of several others who'd been staying in her alleyway. Her hands had splotches of the same crimson leaking from their bodies, and even worse, her skin had turned the same shade as that terrifying girl from before. Rachel staggered back, eyes wide at both the carnage she'd obviously caused and her new appearance. Terrified as she picked up a piece of shattered glass to check her reflection... and worried about how many eyes she'd find staring back. Yet, it seemed, she was slightly luckier on that end. She still had two eyes, but they'd shifted to a haunting yellow. On her forehead, a ruby-colored gemstone now sat as if it'd always been there. Whatever that thing had done to her... it was the worst birthday she'd ever had.

In the years since that fateful, Rachel has learned to live with that other being. Slowly coming to accept that it was, in fact, a part of her. It had not been lying when it said they were the same... yet she refused to let it seize control again. She'd learned to shove away most of her emotions, afraid they'd provide another gateway for that thing to seize control. Yet she was not always perfect, and sometimes Red did manage to take over... and there was always a victim. Through these terrible events, however, Rachel had dreams. She learned bits of her heritage, pieces of what she truly was. A prophecy, to summon a demon to her world. A demon, her father. She also learned from these dreams of small amounts of magic she could manipulate. She learned, slowly, to tone down the thoughts and emotions of others. To recognize patterns to tell who was who. She learned of a way to project her soul from her body in the form of black energy outlined in red. It could allow her to see over a longer distance, explore areas before entering, and could even absorb attacks before spitting them back out. She knew there was more, that she was barely scratching the surface... but she was scared. Scared of what that might open up, of who it might invite to come out.

Yet there were still some bright spots amidst the darkness. There was a doctor at one of the shelters she visited often, she knew him as Doc, who had always been kind. He'd treated her when she was injured from Red's rampages, and never once did he comment on her strange appearance. He'd always been kind and offered advice that seemed to be just right for whatever troubles she had in her life... despite the fact she never told him of said troubles. He even went through the trouble of sneaking the girl chocolate bars whenever she would visit, a kindness done without any need for spoken words. While she couldn't call Doc a friend, per se, it was comforting to know that there was somebody out there who seemed to care about her. To have something reliable to keep her mind from falling too deep into despair.

Her troubles only got worse as she became a young teenager. At the age of 14, she found herself being hunted. A group calling itself the Cult of Trigon had started to show itself within the city and was coming directly for Rachel. The Raven, they called her. The time had come to summon the demon-father she'd seen in her dreams, and unfortunately for Rachel... there wasn't a whole lot she could do to resist a cult bent on claiming her as their own. Yet, it seemed, the girl would get lucky yet again. The Boy Wonder, Robin, came to her aid seemingly out of nowhere and handily defeated the cultists trying to get her. Curious as it was, Rachel considered herself lucky that it was just Robin who'd saved her. She, like many others who lived on Gotham's streets, lived every day in fear of Robin's mentor, the Bat. She was so scared of that man, that Rachel forced Robin to swear not to tell his mentor about her, or the abilities she had shown during their brief fight with the cultists.

Over the next year, Robin continued to visit Rachel to check on her every night as he helped her move into an abandoned Subway station, while slowly turning it into a safe house. With basic living quarters, and all the essentials that one could need to get by. With each visit, Rachel found herself more and more overjoyed to see the familiar face of Robin, now known to her as Jason Todd, coming to visit. Until her emotions boiled over, and in an unusually bold move, she kissed the Boy Wonder just as he was leaving for the night. The next few weeks were as near to bliss as she'd ever experienced, with the start of a relationship blooming between the two. Until Red showed her hand once more. The other threatened Jason's life, swearing to seize control and put an end to the Boy Wonder, a threat that Rachel knew she was risking by embracing her emotions towards Jason. So, she did the only reasonable thing to save his life.

She broke up with Jason. She drove him away, explaining that they couldn't be together or his life was at risk. That she was the risk to his life. Despite all the hurt, Rachel knew it to be best, knew that she was saving him this way.

Until the Joker ended his life anyways a mere two weeks later.

Since then, Rachel has lived alone in her safe house. Meditating, and learning to further suppress her emotions. Events like the war with Atlantis, or the disbanding of the Justice League all seemed far away from her little Safe House. Her prison of choice. Throughout the years she's learned to manipulate and move objects with her mind, something learned during her meditations as she has slowly dared to reach further into that well of power that once scared her so much. Despite her preferred isolation, she does occasionally venture out. No matter the time of year, always with a large red hoodie to hide her features and hopefully keep her from finding trouble. Though too often trouble has found her anyways, and made her fight back in the only way she knows how.

It's a lonely life, but it's better than becoming the Monster she keeps locked within.

As the above wall of text probably indicates, this Raven is a bit different from the origins of the typical hero.

She is a Raven who has never ventured to Azarath, and who hasn't had a mentor to really learn how to handle her emotions or powers. Nor a teacher to tell her fully who she is, and what she can do. Her gateway to that life was taken when her mother was Gotham'd while she was young. Since then, she's lived a life dictated by fear. Not just of the city around her, nor herself, but also of the heroes who keep the world safe. Of how they would react to a girl whose purpose for existing is to bring about the end of everything they hold dear. I borrowed some ideas in the form of the Emoticlones, with Red Raven being much stronger and more influential this time around (and taking the name of Pride from that plot line where Raven's siblings are the seven sins). This also is why the color Red is more present with this variation, as a lot of her power is learned from suppressing the evil within herself and drawing knowledge from what it can do.

The main story I want to tell with her is about her overcoming that fear and eventually taking her place as a hero in her own right. I want to show her struggling with her abilities, growing in strength as she does, and facing down new threats. Learning from other members of the cast in the RP, and using that to beat down her own (literal) demon within.

As far as plots; I did want to actually have Rachel struggle with her father twice over the course of her tenure here. In her initial plot line, I imagined a resurgent Cult of Trigon coming after her and culminating in a brief encounter with her father. Then Rachel would have time to struggle with her own nature, that a part of her is Forever Evil, and perhaps even see her finally making it to Azarath. Then at some point, I'd like her to face down her father again for the big final showdown.

Aside from those plots, I did want her open to join in any other plotlines that others would be happy to have me tag along during! I can also toss out some of my plots if they're too much, or change things up to work with the rp/other rpers!

You've maybe read my Old Man Captain America now get ready for an entirely original idea... Old Man Superman!

My concept hinges on Superman's shuttle arriving in 1954. His parents told him the truth of his origin when he was ten and his powers started to manifest. At fifteen his father, Johnathan Kent was drafted in the Vietnam war. Even at a young age, Clark had a keen sense of justice, feeling it unfair there was nothing he could do but take over for his father on the farm while also doing his school work, then when his father died in the war console and take care of his mother, for a while he felt intense guilt for having the power to have helped in the war but never having done so.

Upon discovering his crashed Kryptonian ship thanks to a key his mother gave him, he learnt the truth of who he was. Donned the family emblem, and ventured out into the world in the late 70s as the hero that would come to be known as Superman.

Like all heroes he fought alongside heroes against villains and natural disasters, but as time went on he made a life for himself. While Superman continued to make headlines Clark Kent met Lois Lane, the love of his life, got married and settled into a comfortable career as a reporter for the Daily Planet. A founding member of the Justice League he had been intending to come out to the world with his true identity, as a husband and a father, on the day Despero attacked.

In the battle Lois Lane-Kent was named as one of the fatalities.

One week later Superman hung up the cape for the last time at the official disbanding of the Justice League, Clark Kent packed up his office and returned to Kansas. To Smallville and the family farm, a Widower who would go on to raise his son. Jon Kent.

I always liked the Boy Scout-type characters. I want to tell a very different story in this game than I typically do. I want to tell a very human story and I understand the irony in using an alien to do so. I want to explore real emotions, of grief and frustration as Clark continues to try navigate a changing world as a being of unfathomable power.

Yet at the same time, he's a grieving husband who has to raise a son by himself. A son who is the hybrid of two peoples, and a son who is coming into his own power. Clark and Jon will explore their dynamic, and thei rplace in the world as Heroes as the story unfurls, all the while a New Superman tries to fill the void left behind. Jons 'uncle', Connor.

Roy is a man with many different faces, each a mask layered on top of the previous one, going too deep as to confuse even himself. He'll shrug anything off, push down his emotions and stuff more crap on top of them one second, to the most heart-shattering introspection in the next. The clown, the village idiot, the super genius and now-unmatched marksman. Roy is the kind of man who could build a weapon of mass destruction with supplies from Walmart. Improvisation and innovation guides him, he's never once structured a plan yet manages to adapt to most situations he finds himself in and the ones he can't handle he manages to get out of by dumb luck. As far as adaptions go, this Roy is a very clear hybridization between Young Justice Roy (Season 1 - 3, 'Will') and the Roy we see in Red Hood & Outlaws / Red Hood & Arsenal from the New 52. He can fit the role of emotional core or jackass in any situation, a deadly killer or a charming hero, and it's that sort of ambiguity that draws me to the character. He's a fuck up, and he knows it.

He became Ollie's sidekick early in Oliver's career, he grew up in Green Arrow's footsteps, Oliver is equal parts brother as he is father and for a long time he was the only family Roy ever knew. During the fight with Despero Oliver gave his life to give the league a shot at victory and his sacrifice allowed the League the chance to defeat the mad titan. Roy blames himself for Oliver's demise, and ever since he hung up official heroing and has spent the past four years at the bottom of every bottle or end of every needle he could find.

That is until he decided he was gonna end it all, in the sewers of Star City where he tracked down Waylon Jones, Killer Croc who at first fought him but soon took pity on him. Roy's been on the wagon for the past seven months. Now he's a man without a mission, looking for purpose or at the very least a way to keep himself busy enough to not fall back down into the bottle. There are people in the world who wouldn't wish for Roy's talent to go to waste and the young archer needs someplace to call home.

He's still full of grief that he never faced, angry at the world but most of all angry at himself. A part of him believes he should hang up the bow for good, another part believes he has to save so many people that he stops feeling so guilty, that if he lives up to Oliver's legacy he will finally find peace.

There wasn't much in his own childhood that brought happiness to Waylon Jones. His mother died in childbirth, his father rejected him, and his aunt resented him. All while being subjected to ridicule by everyone that knew him. Waylon attempted to embrace what he had become by being a professional carnival wrestler in his early twenties. But that made him even more bitter toward everyone; he was finally tired of being treated like a freak his entire life. So when the circus arrived in Gotham, he took off and hid in the sewers beneath the city so no one would ever find him.

Waylon's seclusion only lasted a few days before trouble found him. Mobsters began using the sewers to operate discreetly from the vigilante known as Batman, who had just started working with the authorities. He intended to avoid them at all costs—even when his newfound home became a body dumping site. That was until he stumbled upon the mobsters brutally abusing a child and his parents. Waylon made sure the captors, soaked and gasping for air, never harmed them or any other family again. But before he had time to leave, Batman and the GCPD arrived unexpectedly.

And without a chance to explain, the police opened fire with the intent to kill him. Waylon, bleeding from gunshot wounds, tried to swim as far as possible. But the vigilante chased after him into a corner. So in a final act of defiance, Waylon Jones became the monster that everyone was expecting and fought until he faded from this world that despised him so much. Yet, the Bat saved his life and cruelly took him away from death's sweet embrace. He cursed out his savior, wanting nothing more than to be left for dead. But he woke up and gradually came to the realization that he was actually grateful.

Even if it meant that his life was about to get harder.

There wasn't a fair trial awaiting a "monster" like him despite testimony from the family he saved. "Killer Croc," a cruel nickname bestowed upon him because of his reptilian appearance alone, was found guilty and sentenced to life in Arkham Asylum. In addition, Waylon was condemned to long-term solitary confinement out of fears of him escaping and "eating the guards and inmates." He would've lost himself if it wasn't for being set free during a mass prison escape. However, instead of following the other inmates, Waylon chose to retreat into the sewers to avoid being arrested.

Despite his best attempts to stay hidden, trouble always found him. Waylon spent several years on the run from Batman, his so-called family, the GCPD, and others that wanted to use him. But then there was Bane, an aspiring foreign crime lord that wanted to conquer the "Killer Croc" to gain notoriety within organized crime. He made his presence known when he interrupted a fight between "Killer Croc" and [vigilante TBD] to demonstrate his raw power from Gotham to witness. Waylon had his right arm broken and would've been pummeled to death if it wasn't for [vigilante]'s intervention.

Waylon tried to distract Bane in a futile endeavor of playing hero. He was awarded with a fierce beating that broke his other arm and shattered him mentally. So he ran away from Gotham and headed west to recover physically. And he found his new home in the sewers of Star City. Then, as per usual, trouble found him again in the form of Roy Harper. Waylon, sensing that the kid was using him to die, confronted and then comforted him. Soon after that encounter, he became a sponsor for the kid and followed him. Those seven months with Roy were honestly the best he had ever lived.

And Waylon would've loved to remain by his side if it wasn't for his former life coming back to haunt him.

Waylon Jones never seems to be granted a chance at redemption. So I have taken it upon myself to give it to him. It won't be an easy fight nor a fair one, but he isn't going to give up at this point in his life. Even if he himself thinks this quest is a foolish endeavor that will only end in one way: disappointment. The world, and undoubtedly its heroes, still consider him a menace to society, but he won't let them get in the way. Croc will do whatever it requires to stop Bane and prevent his rise in Gotham's criminal world. No matter what happens to him in the end.
