Well, I'm not sure anyone cares. But @Master Bruce I'm going to have to leave. I've spent the last two days working myself into knots over this. This community wasn't all the welcoming to me and I feel very isolated and quite frankly ostracized. With my own well-being in mind, I bid you all adieu.

I have to say that I'm both surprised by this and also sorry to see you go.

@Byrd Man That's my favorite story from you in quite a while.

EDIT: I think I said that last time you ran Constantine, too, though.

There are two polar opposite ways to interpret that statement.

Obviously I can't stop you, but that's a shame. Your character was pretty unique among the band of recognizable heroes, and I was looking forward to seeing where you took her. But I also know how anxiety can be, quite frankly, and can understand your reasoning. I don't think anyone meant any ill-will towards you, if it's any consolation.

Good luck and you're always welcome back.

Echoing the other statements, I'm sad to hear Blue Demon's bowing out. From a community standpoint, I'd like to know what we did to come off as unwelcoming, but sometimes things just don't click. Anyway, like MB said, your stuff was quality, and I'd be happy to see you come back if you ever change your mind.

I've been trying my best to keep up with the IC and this OOC(though it does move at a truly remarkable pace), and it's been a while since I posted with my interest so I figured I'd do an update on what I've got. I also have handful of questions.

@Master Bruce I noticed you rejected a sheet on the basis of it combining DC and Marvel elements, which totally makes sense. My current idea for Vigilante is that he is, however reluctantly, the current vessel of the Spirit of Vengeance, making him Ghost Rider as well as Vigilante, the idea being he took the title as a bargain to spring himself and a ragtag Seven Soldiers of Victory out of Hell. I do genuinely believe I have more going for the character than the shallow appeal of "Hey, look, two characters in one!", but I understand that despite this you may still be inclined to reject the idea of combining Ghost Rider and Vigilante in this way. My current plan is to just write up two versions of the sheet, one in which Vigilante acquires the Ghost Rider title and has to juggle being a 'normal' crimewrangler like he was more used to and dealing with the weird Hell/Mystic stuff Ghost Rider gets up to; as well as a more vanilla version of Vigilante. If you think there's zero chance of the Vig/Ghost Rider being accepted though, I'd appreciate some notice so I can scrap that version of the sheet straightaway. Thanks!

Otherwise, I have a question about supporting characters. The 'beta' roster of support I have filled out contains a semblance of the Seven Soldiers of Victory, comprised of members of past Seven Soldiers lineups and characters I thought would fit the mold(Shining Knight, Jonah Hex, Crimson Avenger, Frankenstein, Star Spangled Kid, and Stripsey). The thing I'm nervous about is whether having a lineup of Heroes in his supporting cast who could ostensibly be written as characters be someone else is a problem. I think the only really 'popular' character out of the bunch is Jonah Hex, but I hope this is okay.

Thanks! I should have my final sheet(or sheets, as the case may be) up in a day or two.

If you do get accepted, I'd like to discuss Hell with you, and what I was planning for it and the demonology aspects of this at large to be.

@Blue Demon nooo. I wasn't sure how we were gonna rival our Colossus/Ivy team up but I wanted us to try something in the future.

You gotta do what you gotta do though.

I like the sound of this. Let's revisit this idea once you've got your feet under you a little in the IC thread.

Also, a little unrelated, but as much as I love shit-posting, I find it almost refreshing to talk openly about what we have planned in the OOC thread. It's nice to discuss ideas with people out in the open rather than in PMs or on Discord. I know we all like to have the element of surprise (and I know I certainly fetishize "reveals" a little bit) but it can sometimes be a little isolating to see people posting day after day as if ideas come to them like manna from heaven, when really it's because they thrash everything out behind closed doors.

We should do that out in the open more often, I think. Inbetween the GIFs, memes and dick jokes, obviously.

Double posting like the filthy human being that I am.

While I'm not going to get into specifics of the Reverse Flash story, I'm planning to do it like a longer comic arc, or even a tv series. With the Reverse Flash appearing every now and then to mess with her until eventually they have a final confrontation.

I'll probably have the Rogues form before the final face off with the Reverse Flash. The reveal, I've told one person and they seem to think the RFs identity is going to be a good one.

If I went with my safe choice of Faceless Detective Man I would've been all for that but because I'm just doing Shooty McShootStuff Guy I'll just have to watch. Still, sounds fun.

Also, @Master Bruce, @Byrd Man, and @Morden Man. I've mentioned this to others in PM, but I wanted to bring this topic up to you three. I'm personally of the mindset that games like these are better off when players are kept to a single character. If they want to swap in the future, sure, but having multiple, simultaneous characters I feel has historically always caused issues for these particular games. Just as villain NPCs tend to do, though to a more extreme degree.

I know a couple others feel the same way. I can guess that Gowi will be opposed to this idea. But I'm curious where you all stand.

I’m actually not opposed because as Morden and the rest of the gang know – I don’t do well when the keys to the car are left on the countertop so to speak. I’m better with limitations than I am with absolute freedom in terms of character application. I’ve handled multiple characters well in the past [though I have also not handled it well either on more occasions], but in these games I tend to be impulsive and cocksure. When Bruce mentioned he might open it up to two characters-per-player my first thought was to start thinking of secondary concepts but also heavily suggest when that happens to hard lock it at two characters per player with no further amendments. This allows creative freedom and options, but also makes sure someone doesn’t pick up six characters and spread themselves out too thin.

Well... since everyone here knows how much I love talking about Batman, I suppose there are a few teases I can make here and there that don't spoil any of the major beats that I have planned.

Obviously, I'm playing a very early Batman who hasn't figured out what he wants to be yet. The entire point of Bruce rallying the people of Gotham behind hating and fearing him is supposed to reflect that he doesn't quite understand the city's need for an outright hero, and that he has to learn Batman should be a symbol of hope as much, if not more, than something to fear. This also ties a bit into his psychosis, which I'm playing as more unstable than most iterations, with Bruce borderlining schizophrenia and having a bit of trouble with that.

He fears losing himself to the beast, as it were, and I'm toying with having his Batman episodes actually end up being blackouts at some point that Bruce doesn't even remember. This is because I fully intend to exploit the idea that Martha Wayne was a member of the Arkham lineage, which offers a great deal of hereditary insanity. The way he's going to fight this is by gradually becoming more of the classic Batman with a stricter moral code who values allies like Alfred and the yet-to-be-introduced Oracle - along with perhaps the adoption of a certain boy from the circus that forces him to start leading a better example.

Beyond just the character work I want to do, some may have noticed I'm not leaping at the chance to have Batman fight his bigger rogues gallery in every post. This is intentional, because I want events to take shape that inspire more of these people to come to the forefront. I already introduced Ed Nashton, and you can't not expect The Riddler to follow at a certain point. (Unless you're @Byrd Man, whose legendary run with a version of Nygma in another game was so good that I don't even want to try and touch it.)

That's how I intend to set up a majority of the villains. Introduce a primordial version of them, play out a reimagined version of their origins, and have the experience shape Bruce into a better hero. So people like Two-Face, Catwoman, The Penguin, the aforementioned Riddler, Ra's Al Ghul, and the like are all getting the slow burn treatment.

And this is especially going to be true of The Joker, who I want to save for last as a huge reveal, given that my concept for him strays quite a bit from the beaten path and sets up a great deal of Year Two. I daresay my version of the clown may prove to be a bit controversial, but I really want to swing for the fences and deliver a wholly different type of evil than just a gleeful criminal mastermind.

Oh, and I'm getting a Batmobile soon, I guess... if you're into that type of thing.

Shit. I got carried away again, didn't I? Oh, well.
