Race Specs: A species of monster girl developed by “humanity” in efforts to try to create a species to help better combat the necromorphs/reavers.
The race’s DNA base was derived from multiple hardy, and carnivorous, mollusk species living in the oceans of a very harsh alien ocean world, which was all taken and combined/modified with human DNA into cross-breed-able humanoids. Similar to some fish species from Earth, and some of the mollusks they were built from, the “Gazers” (as they were named) gained the inborn ability to change sex temporarily for mating purposes. This, ultimately, has left the entire race of this type of monster girl being female as a result, which works for purposes of easier breeding.
They are carnivorous, but their digestive systems are highly hardy/efficient. Even bone and scraps of organs and meat/muscle and rotting flesh and such materials are digested and processed safely into all necessary nutrients. They can even devour necromorph flesh safely due to their design, which is one of the main reasons they were engineered as they are physically. Yet this species, however, are unable to process plants and plant matter (passes right through them and acts like a laxative, feels odd for them).
Next, their eyes can produce special shifting light patterns that are strongly hypnotic to living things visually. This is a trait useful against living things, or at least in pacifying them, but more importantly it works on the undead/reavers and helps to distract them.
Their ability of “floating” through the air or water was engineered primarily as a means to help them move about easier over rougher terrains.
In the end, this race is “an engineered necromorph predator”, though their existence is far from the solution for the problem of the necromorphs/reavers.
Other Notes: Also, the race’s tentacle-like-limbs have an eye on each of them, each covered with a protective layer to avoid harm/damage to those eyes. This along with each appendage bearing an...incredibly long tongue, mainly made that way for gathering up food materials or liquids around the user. That, and using these tongues as a means to smell (an improved version on what snakes can do), one capability built into them for detecting their “prey”.

The “Incident”: Illegal experimentation utilizing old forbidden technology was undertaken on a Gazer subject, who was kidnapped and taken to station
[REDACTED]. Dr. Heinrich Heinz personally performed the experiment, resulting in the subject being “successfully” immortalized into an undead form, with biological capabilities greatly retained in areas such as reproduction, mental capabilities, and eating, before being put into stasis.
However, when the Doctor later attempted to utilize a virus in conjunction with [REDACTED]...the fatality rate was high, and resulting damage to the station was extensive in nature. The old technology used in this and the prior experiment shortly before was confiscated and put into lockdown. The station was decommissioned for a time, approximately 5 years, to decontaminate and purge all traces of [REDACTED]...
Gazer subject was discovered by initial biohazard team, though after scans of the stasis tube showed specimen was not infected it was not terminated. It was taken to station [REDACTED], and place under the care of Dr. Chamberlin, an expert on the study of undead and the old technology that possesses high-level clearance for PROJECT [REDACTED]....which project continues even to this day.
Dr. Chamberlin was the first to approach the subject upon her awakening. Initial approaching was...rough, as subject had undergone trauma over their transformation process, apparently done whilst they were conscious the entire time. Restraints had to be used, but with more talking to Chamberlin the subject was able to seemingly calm down to where restraints could be released.
The subject’s Gazer anti-necromorphs and general capabilities were found to have remained intact after testing at the [REDACTED] Facility on the station. However, subject can only heal now by medical intervention or eating, though the latter shows strong regenerative properties if subject is damaged enough. Further testing with other acquired subjects proved user’s unique status makes them “less noticeable” to necromorph/reavers, but not “invisible”. This and potential implementations in PROJECT [REDACTED] are confirmed to exist, according to analysis of the data.
Once it was found the subject was fit for duty, and was thusly assigned to become a mecha pilot, Chamberlin was relegated as her proper steward to follow her. Of course his work of [REDACTED] continues regardless, though he seems to have developed a “soft spot” for the one entrusted to him. However, due to command’s notes about potentially conflicting “personalities” with another at the station Chamberlin and his charge are moving to, letters of warning have been sent to both parties about extreme actions on either of their parts.
