Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

@Jbcool I'm honestly surprised you let the red corsair get 2 extra marines.
I thought they were like chaos humie goons that were all gonna die. That 3 marines got through the door gives him a huge advantage since he has an established power base where he is the leader while even if all the others gang up, there is no clear leader and they might fail anyway.

I didn't expect everyone to side with the Corsairs, that's probably why! Or at least for some to do nothing, I actually thought Zuriel and the Ork might try to take them on as well...but we'll see how it goes.

Though, @Jbcool, it warms my heart to know that of all the people who have criticized you in this RP, I'M the one you'd have take your place. I can't imagine Why certain other people would be against it.

Firstly, you're the only one to criticise me. Secondly, your character made the RP the most lop-sided, but I allowed him to remain anyway - so remember that next time you decide to criticise me. Lastly, I don't want you taking my place, I just want to see you GM so that you can back up everything you've said thus far pointing toward apparent failings on my part.

I understand if you don't want to, but the offers there.

This won't really be a complete thread until the 'search' function comes back online (I have layouts and the like that I enjoy using), but I thought I'd put this up anyway. It will be my...third...fourth attempt at an 'adult' Imperial Guard RP, every other attempt having comes to a conclusion before there times for one reason or another.

Anyway, enough of that.

What I'm looking for are dedicated fans of both 40k in general and, more particularly, the lore and the Imperial Guard; I envision Gaunt's Ghosts mixed with Sharpe and his Chosen Men mixed with the Dirt Dozen mixed with Alien mixed with Band of Brothers/Pacific and Saving Private Ryan. Generally, I wish to write (not really 'play') a gritty, semi-realistic (as 'real' as you can get with laser-firing cannon-fodder in a Grimdark universe), narrative along the lines of BoB.

Here a couple of things to note.

1. I'm looking for a fireteam or squad/section, depending on how many are interested, with specific positions to be filled.

2. We'll be part of a Penal Legion made up of elements from all over the Imperium, that means an expendable but surprisingly tough and vicious bunch of mofos. They could be anything from a clerk who diddled some numbers, to a serial rapist, murder, deserter, illegal gambler/brawler, a truly framed an innocent person...whatever.

3. This is Advanced, anyone looking at this forum should know what that means in terms of rules, writing etc.

4. Abhumans - Ogryns or Ratlings, that is all.

5. Characters are part of the Guard's Penal Legions AKA the scum of the Imperium, so no Astartes, Ecclesiastical troops, etc.

6. Realism; as I said I'm not expecting every little detail, but what I do expect is variety in personality and background, suitable responses to things, and no crossover between meta knowledge and knowledge that a character might posses. Lack of ammunition and so forth will also be a factor, decisions you make having an effect overall.

7. Characters can and will end up dying - you're in the Guard, son!

8. This is going to be a mature-themed RP, things will get adult, so you've been forewarned.

9. If you plan to leave after showing interest here, or you're just generally untrustworthy when it comes to remaining in an RP, just don't post here. Just don't.

That't it, for now.

Any questions then do ask.

Thank you for reading.

My next post will take us aboard on of the smaller (smallest) enemy vessels, one we can commandeer, then the real adventuring gets going.

@Sophrus I'm not really sure where Oskar is meant to be, but it'd probably be good just to have him turn up inside the ship - at this point it doesn't really matter how he got there.
@agentmanatee@Sophrus@Wraithblade6@Necroes@Klomster@BCTheEntity

Vedius had no real idea what was going on about him, although the plethora of raised voices told him that something was certainly wrong, even if he had wanted to turn about and see for himself what was happening he was close to finding an answer to their navigation problems...or so he believed; Emperor but these codes and complications were infuriating him, his hands moving over the control consoles as fast as they could go.

“Oh Throne,” he muttered, a blinking rune separating itself from the other, larger, runes that represented the space battle they had only recently entered and apparently coming right for them. Of course he had not bothered telling the others, it would only cause trouble that he wanted to avoid, but they had slid like a tiny minnow into a net full of gnashing sharks (the Imperial and Astartes ships) and sleek adversaries that were half there and half shadow (their Eldar opponents). For this long he had been able to avoid direct fire, assuming correctly that whomever was in command thought of them as below contempt, but now it seemed that someone had decided they were worth at least the missile speeding toward them.

“I would advise that everyone hold onto something!” Came his voice, amplified by his helmet and directed toward the fractured factions behind him.

In a flurry of movement he turned on the view-screen, the large square taking up most of the foremost wall of the ship, and before all their eyes the true extent of just how deep into danger they were became very apparent; solar sailed Eldar ships dog-fought with Thunderhawk gunships and Fury Interceptors, larger cruisers blasted one another with glittering beams of pure energy or cannons the size of cathedrals, even now the Astartes of the Hawk Lords prepared themselves to send out boarding pods and decimate the enemy from the inside out.

Oh yes, they were in trou-

Thrump

The missile impacted on their Starboard side, a shudder weaving its way through the whole vessel, instruments falling from racks beside the medical tables, weapons hammering to the floor.

“We'll never make it out of here alive,” came another muttering, “unless...”

His head whipped about to take in a scene that he hadn't expected to find, a bleeding Astartes, a dead-looking Ogryn, and apparently the beginning of a violent confrontation. He had to ignore that for the moment though.

“I'm going to take us into an enemy ship!” He bellowed, “prepare for a boarding action, or prepare to die.”

How in the Emperor's name was he going to do this?!
@jbeil@BCTheEntity@Kratesis@Andreyich

Okie dokie, gonna get things moving...though not so sure that splitting up was the best choice now. Hmmm.

Either way, unless anyone else wants to post anything, I'll grab us a transport and off we go.
The only reason we're not all killing each other right now, is that Vedius has no idea wtf is going on and has to drive

This (and work) are pretty much the only reason I haven't posted anything.

I will say though that I dislike ad hominem attacks, even if it is more directed toward my position of GM, and it's quite plain to see why I'm not moving us along at the speed of light I.E. the current situation. Slacking is not something I'd think I'm doing, really.

For the record, if you do wish to take over GMing because you feel that way, @Necroes, then please be my guest.

@Sophrus@BCTheEntity@Wraithblade6@agentmanatee

I'll wait for the situation to extuingiuish itself (or not) and then get us underway, that is unless @Necroes would rather do it?
@Canoli@Jeyma@POOHEAD189@Tsar Gatto@Bishop

You lot are a hard bunch to say no to...but just knowing that you intend to continue is enough for me, I cannot abide disappearing players, at least not unless they tell me that they're intending to disappear.
@Ulstermann@Vowel Vagabond@Iuniper@POOHEAD189@Bishop@Polybius@Force and Fury@Jeyma@Ozymandias@Tsar Gatto@Sovi3t

Okie dokie, well, thank you all - those who have posted and those who have not - but it has been two weeks now with only one character even presented. In my personal opinion that usually goes to mean that an RP is deceased.

If people are still around, and are still going ahead with characters then do tell me, otherwise I'll just move along and leave another RP to lie still in the cold, damp, ground.
@Sophrus What do you want to do? You can go with an infested Ogryn, or with your pyromaniac, either way they can be bought in; so it's your choice to make.

@Klomster I'd say that all virus' are, in some way, the purview of the deity of all decay etc - much like Pestilence in our own Judaeo-Christian religions.

@Necroes Yea, nah; as soon as the energy within that staff left the crystal it would be dissipated into nothingness, which is the reason why the spirit stones are still 'alive', since they're still inside the shells so-to-speak.

I'll let it lie for now, and I'll leave it up to Sophrus to decide what he wants to happen here.

@Wraithblade6 I take it that we can just carry on without your unconscious hero then?

Whatever happens, I'm going to move us along in the next post, and potentially anihilate everyone...but we'll see.
Been working for the last few days, but I'll get to reading this tomorrow; if I find anyone's pulling some blatently impossible things out their backsides, well, I won't be best pleased.
