Name: Daniel, Son of Nathaniel

Age: 88 but looks 18.

Gender: Male.

Faction/Allegiance: Othea (More specifically, a secret Evoker order with Othea)

Relic Description: A single ring made up of steel that never rusts, engraved with a pattern of roses. Its power is to stop the aging of its wearer, as well as regenerate the body of its wearer cell-by-cell as long as it is worn. Note that its limitation is that if Daniel's ring hand (his left) is severed, the regeneration stops; fire is also an effective countermeasure against his regeneration.

Appearance:

Flaws: Daniel is easily lost in a situation where there is no clear bad guy or all of the existing sides are 'bad guys'; bad being defined as being Anti-Evoker, Pro-Evoker but Anti-Commoner, and of course, misogynistic or misandrist. In short, Daniel hates the extremes of his world and this has led to him being criticized as 'bland and indecisive'; he isn't, he just hates bullying in all its forms yet recognizes that if he goes too far, he would become a bully himself. Due to what he classifies as 'eighty-eight years of disappointment', Daniel has had it rammed to him that he cannot expect to get what he wants without the help of others...yet others cannot be trusted to help him get what he wants.

He also tends to put himself in danger a lot when it is likely that he'd be likely to survive (due to the enemy not knowing the limits of his immortality). That's how he wound up in Dynasty territory in the first place. He is also bad at more than basic math.

Skills: Daniel's foremost skill is that he learns quickly; coupled with his Relic that grants functional immortality, this has given him a wide array of skills. Dan is a swordsman first and foremost, but he dabbles in the use of light and medium crossbows, including the small ones he can use while mounted. He can throw spears as well as stab with them, wear light to heavy armor (although he prefers medium), and throw knives with moderate accuracy. In short, name a combat skill and you'll find Daniel has dabbled in it.

But Dan is also knowledgeable in more than combat; he can argue philosophy and politics, economics and science, and his only weakness is complex mathematics (as mentioned above). He is also a decent cook and blacksmith, jeweler and metalworker. He is also moderately good at disguising himself...

Biography: Daniel was born in the Plains of Aisha in West Othea, in one of the fiefs where the local lord had given control of the land to the people so as to spare himself the cares and weariness of administering such a remote holding. This upbringing in the closest thing to a democracy in Azukhar gave Daniel a better life than most, as well as a basic education unheard of elsewhere. But even then, the cares of the world at large did not bother him; he planned to live out his life in his hometown.

Then, a mysterious man came to one of the local inns, where Daniel was working as an assistant to the innkeeper; he was 18 then. This mysterious man, hooded and cloaked, sought only food and drink; he'd be out of the land soon, he said.

Despite his suspicions, Daniel gave him what he needed, and the mysterious man paid his fee. He also told Daniel stories about the world, stories of prejudice and conflict, oppression and rebellion. Then, he handed a small box to the young man, a small box that contained a ring. Said ring seemed to call to him, and overcome by curiosity, curiosity about the finely engraved rose patterns, he put it on...and it was stuck there. No matter how much Dan pulled, the ring stuck to him, and it was then that he knew he had become one of the hated Evokers.

"This baby has been seeking you out!" the old man said. "Ever since we found it, it has been looking for its destined bearer. Congratulations, Daniel son of Nathaniel, you're one of us!"

'One of Us', of course, meant being one of the clandestine Relic-using orders within the Kingdom; the Order of the Argent Dawn. The Dawn was a group of Evokers who were guided by the dream of a more compassionate world and common principles towards said more compassionate world and sought a way to gradually change the order of things. That said, they weren't above 'guiding' promising young people to promising Relics and offering them a choice: Membership in the Argent Dawn and learning how to use their new powers, or stand alone as an Evoker in the middle of an Evoker-hostile country.

The better choice was obvious. And so, Daniel found himself whisked away to a life that he wanted no part of, into dangers that he did not want to be involved in.

This lasted for a few years until he grew used to the powers and perks that his Relic and his place in a Secret Society gave him. He also discovered a thirst for knowledge he didn't know he had before, as well as a talent for piecing together historical trends and patterns. In time, he saw this, that his secret society had the right of it; that Relics were not innately bad and neither were Evokers. But the world was still a crapsack place in need of improvement, and improvement needed information on what to change.

And so Daniel began wandering the continent, learning as much as he could, resolving what injustices he can, and getting out of dodge when discovery was risked. This led to his ideals beginning to mature, although the process was slow.

Then, in an attempt to penetrate the Dynasty of Kheris, Daniel was captured, exposed as an Evoker, and forced into a state worse than slavery - being one of the gladiators in the upcoming grand tournament. How will he get himself out of this, preferably with his mind and sanity intact?

At least there was a bright blue bird at the outside of his cell, though...

Personality/motivation: Daniel is motivated by the desire for fairness and prevention of unnecessary harm, with sacredness, loyalty, and legitimate authority being secondary concerns/virtues. He wants a world of peace and prosperity where Evokers and Non-Evokers live in symbiosis, mutually respecting each other and their achievements, where Men and Women are recognized as equal in courage and spirit. And of course, widespread education, literacy, and ways to advance oneself...

Relations: Not yet.

Final Point - Secrets: Daniel likes both men and women.

William Ascot

As he slept, William Ascot's dreams took a dark turn. His unprecedented exhaustion pulled him down, down a deep dark abyss that was water and void at the same time; distinctions erased themselves in dream-land. For a time, the sensation of falling was what governed the boy's senses, and he screamed soundlessly into the sea/void/wind. The pull of sleep granted no solace, no rest...why?

The moment he asked that was the moment the falling stopped, and the sixteen-year old opened his eyes wide. He was now standing on a grassy plain, a grassy plain dotted with gravestones every few places. Before him stood a figure that for one second seemed to be Vera, the next, Vittorio.

A look to his right and Galbrek stood to flank him, to his left, Andras stood silently, her curiosity evident on her face. The shadow of Wolf, now in armor, can be seen behind the boy, and it was the Knight that said, "You have some questions to answer."

"Indeed you do," the figure in front of him now wore Vittorio's guise, but used a masculine version of Vera's voice, made thicker and crisper to fit the body of the young man, whose image Ascot only knew from pictures. "William. You never answered why I, Vittorio, am more important than any person in Rhea. Why you'd break the laws of life and death, and make enemies of people you barely know, just for someone you've only read about, talked about, someone you also don't know."

William closed his eyes, and said, "My reasoning evolves with every passing moment, but right now, it's because you suffered more than anyone else in Rhea. You lost your friends, your family, all in one day. You knew happiness and lost it, and now, you fight among the outcasts of the world, pursuing a revenge against someone beloved by many, and thus brings you the hatred of most." Even in his dreams, William could not say aloud that he believed Alto was innocent. "No one cares for you anymore; that's my impression."

The Vittorio/Vera figure raised his fist as if to strike a blow, before William added, "And that isn't right! You deserve to have someone care!"

In his dream, he had more than his ramshackle collection of copied powers, he had more than a small amount of support abilities. In William Ascot's dream, the scabbard called Avalon appeared over him, glowing like a Reverse-Sword of Damocles. The boy siezed the moment to say, "I know our meeting will be different from this dream, so I will say this now - I want people to care about you. Not about how you can be used as a tool and not about how you are their enemy, but about you, as a person. I want someone to care about that; I want to care about that. What life is it when people think you are nothing to them?!"

Tears, reflected in the real world. "I can't live like that, yet you already are -"

The field vanished, Vera/Vittorio vanished. The other figures disappeared as well, leaving Ascot alone in the dark. Or so he thought, as he felt spectral arms (Green?) clasping around his throat, squeezing it tight. Vittorio appeared once more in front of the boy, only this time, he spoke with Galbrek's voice. "You think you know what it is to care?! You think you know what it is to show compassion?! Hubris! Your pride is all that drives you, don't dress it up! I refuse all of your gifts, I refuse all of your offers. The path of revenge is mine!"

He felt it, the sensation of tears on his cheek as all turned to darkness again.

Gilgamesha Ascot (NPC) and Alexander Ascot

Alexander smiled, "All right, Michael, a drive home. Thanks for everything; I'll repay my debts soon."

And with that, he gestured the young man and Gilgamesha to his car, where William already was.

@Ezekiel, is a Magic-user/Blue Lantern Combination permitted?

Edit: Ah, I got refused on Discord. Nevermind; that idea was Marty-Stuish anyway.
@6slyboy6, Accepted!
Sorry for the short post.

William Ascot, Gilgamesha Ascot (NPC) and Alexander Ascot

Alexander would return to where the group was, saying, "So, you're talking about cab fare to the Blackgate House? I can drive you guys there, if you want, as well as pay for another cab for the extra people."

He then looked at the others. "And yes, it was bad form for William to fall asleep just now. Don't comment on it."

But Alexander already saw that it was too late; Vera had already called a cab. He blinked at that and said, "So, it seems I can do nothing else for you people?"

Library of Congress/Book Runners

The polluted and irradiated waters of the River Potomac would suddenly become clean and potable; news of this would spread in a matter of days, same for the identities of those responsible - the Library of Congress. Already welcome in the Wasteland for driving out the Enclave, Super Mutants, raiders, and slavers, the Libray of Congress' reputation would skyrocket after this deed became known. Which was all for the best; the Library genuinely wanted to spread security and learning throughout the Wasteland.

Already, it was starting up schools to spread basic literacy and general knowledge all over DC and Baltimore, with wandering lecturers and teachers guarded by Robots accepting as many students as they can take. Civilian technology was being handed out, along with food, water, and medicine. In exchange, all that was wanted was free entry and exit from towns and cities, as well as a purely nominal 'support fee' from the relatively richer settlements.

But at the same time, the Library was also resettling several abandoned but potentially profitable holdings, especially those in fertile land. While its advanced Workshops/Factories were able to meet double its needs, the fact remained; Eleanor Delano Paradise was planning for a future where the Library would be a permanent fixture in DC and Baltimore and even wider areas...
Socotra, Yemen

Socotra was a beautiful and rustic island, seemingly untouched by the tides of war and change elsewhere in the world. Home to the famous 'dragon's blood' trees, the local Prince-CEOs of Al-Amir have treated the place as their private reserve, maintaining a barracks to keep their slice of the Red Sea safe from their rivals, both those within the Ruling Corp and outsiders. Right now, the barracks was leased to the Electrum Company under arrangements that were not fully disclosed to the rank and file, including Andrew Avalon, the current field-captain of the Electrum Company's NC Team.

And that was okay; the young-looking man with silver hair had his ways of finding out. Walking the streets of the barracks town - a small village that was situated over the military headquarters of the Electrum Company's underground base - Andrew Avalon smelt the mist that had crept over the land; the humidity was a welcome break from the artificial environment of Electrum Base.

Alas, the young-looking man had to return to said base soon; he had to show up early. Walking into one of the buildings, then continuing on to a hidden elevator inside, Andrew went down to the elaborate series of tunnels and chambers that occupied Socotra's underground.

Once he had come from the lift, Andrew was met by the constant sound of machinery as the maintenance staff persistently repaired small breaches in the insulation. It was not comfortable, but he was used to it. Hurrying to the changing rooms, the young-looking man hoped that he'd be in his pilot suit in time for the briefing given by the higher-ups; he only had some minutes left to arrive early. Thankfully, changing his clothing from the formal suit he normally wore to an NC Pilot's body suit took only a few of those minutes, and he would arrive in time to the meeting hall.

Inside the chamber, Andrew activated the table's holographic projectors, then sent the summons to his team; they were to come from wherever they were and hurry to the meeting room - They had a job.

Red-Star Task Force, Location REDACTED

Red-Star's pilots came in two flavors; one was the 'Comrades', free men (and a few women) who willingly piloted for the Corporate-State. The other were the 'Slave-Pilots', indoctrinated and brainwashed soldiers who were literally bred from Red-Star's 'Eugenics Camps' for a high Sync Ratio, and who lived and died for the chance to prove their worth and loyalty to their masters. Osamu Akiyama, despite his Japanese heritage, was one of those masters, and the fact that he barely avoided the fate of a slave did not stop him from regularly going to the Slave-Pilots' quarters to regularly punish the slaves for minor infractions.

Osamu Akiyama

Right now, the genetically-engineered Artificial Human had singled out Mako Shintai, one of said Slave-Pilots and a fellow 'Japanese', for punishment. Mako was a black-haired and black-eyed young man with marks of soot on his face due to being forced to do mechanic work on his NC late. Exactly the pretense Osamu needed to vent his sadism.

Mako Shintai; pretend the Blue suit is Red

"Mako Shintai!" shouted Osamu Akiyama as he approached the young man; Mako had just turned 18, "Is that dirt on your face?"

"Sorry, Osamu-sama!" shouted the young man as he halted, knowing all the while that he was in the middle of the Slave Quarters' hallway. "The others were cleaning their NCs after the last battle first so I had to do it late! Please make the punishment as severe as it needs to be; I know what I did was wrong, master!"

Osamu smiled as he drew a whip from his belt, saying to Mako as his smirk recalled that of a sterotypical psycophath: "Oh, the punishment will be as severe as it needs to be. You're going to the lashing post yet again, bishonen. I am going to have a lovely time slowly relieving you of your stained, sweaty jumpsuit, before -"

"Commissar Akiyama, stop!" a voice interrupted the two. It was Alexander Sky, the senior Slave-Pilot of Red-Star. Known as 'Chainbringer' and the 'Bane of Denver-Vegas', even the Comrades treated him with respect; it was rumored that he was going to be one of the latter soon. Approaching the two before placing himself in front of Mako, Alexander said:

Alexander Sky

"Pardon my phrasing, Commisar, but Mako Shintai is an asset to the coming mission. Not to mention that being only eighteen, he hasn't developed the endurance to take multiple punishments, experiences in 'The Room' aside. I, however, have. So as his commanding officer, I must ask to take his punishment." All respectful words, and Osamu briefly lost himself in sadistic fantasies on what to inflict on the twenty-four year old Alexander when the latter interrupted once more:

"That said, has Commissar-sama been informed of the new law? Punishment of Slave-Pilots for infractions below high treason needs the agreement of the Lieutenant-General. So we'll have to go to him to request Mako's punishment and my taking it on for myself." Alexander bowed his head to conceal a smile; he knew Dai Anson would never agree to let Osamu satisfy his perversions on the Slave-Pilots.

Osamu knew it too, and respect mingled with annoyance in his next words. "Clever. So let's go to him and get this over with!"

Faction/Nation Flag: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/common…
Faction/Nation Name: The Library of Congress/Book Runners
Faction/Nation Role: Old World Blue
Faction/Nation Territory: Washington DC and Baltimore
Capital City/Faction HQ: US Library of Congress, Washington DC
Population: 1,500
Government: Enlightened AI Technocracy on top with democratic structures further downward.
Leaders:

Eleanor Delano Paradise - AI who lives in a secret facility under the Library of Congress. Benevolent leader who wants to teach future generations how to avoid the mistakes of the past while replicating what was so good about it.

Liana Delgado - Chief Librarian of the Library of Congress; the elected leader who implements decisions made by the AI and the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees (Ken McCain, Josephine Parr, and Booker T. Spears) - Three elected members of the Library of Congress who oversee War, Scientific Research, and Education.

The Ethics Committee (Alvin Fitzgerald, Eliza Zara, and Penelope T. Carthage) - Three elected but permanent officials whose job is to keep things ethical and debate what exactly is ethical.

General Athena Spring - General of the Library Armies.

National/Group Ideology: To spread knowledge, enlightenment, and moderation throughout the wastelands, as well as fight ignorance and enslavement.

Military: The armed forces of the Library of Congress/Book Runners rely on mobility and flexibility more than brute firepower, eschewing Power Armor except for a few dozen or so people, and instead rely on thinner, slimmer armor made up of nano-composite fibres, dura-ceramics, and meta-plastic. They'd also be prone to using lasers and sniper rifles, using plasma weapons and artillery only as a last resort.

The Librarium Guard - The Library of Congress' elite guard, these men and women wear Power Armor as finely-crafted as the Enclave's themselves. These are the only members of the Book Runners who are trusted with flamers and incendiary weapons; when they are deployed, it is because the Library cares more about its future than the preservation of knowledge. They also carry melee weapons, gauss guns, laser pistols, and laser assault rifles. Numbers: 36

The Seraphs of Knowledge - The rank-and-file of the Library of Congress, the Seraphs are powerful combatants both as guerillas and conventional units, making quick and efficient use of laser weaponry even as their thin and slim armor of meta-materials protect them from most forms of harm while conserving speed. They are armed with combat knives and short swords made up of durasteel, as well as Laser Assault Rifles, Laser Pistols, and Flash-Bangs; a few of them have Sniper Rifles (both mundane and laser). Numbers: 500.

The Cybernetic Legion - The Library of Congress has seized the Enclave and Atlas Free Traders' Robotic Legions, to the total of 55 Sentry Bots, 200 Protectrons, 60 Assaultrons, 150 Mister Gustys, and 250 Eye-bots.

Seized Enclave Ground Vehicles - In total, the Library has seized 30 VB-1 transport Vertibirds and 20 VB-2 gunship Vertibirds. On the ground, the Library is supported by 12 Nuke-Humvees, 6 Nuke-Jeeps, and 3 Stryker APCs, although these are all largely relegated to second-line duties by nature of their value. They have dismantled the Enclave's Flame Tank for parts; the Library abhors the use of flame weaponry on both people and books.

The Library of Congress Navy - The liberation of DC and Baltimore has led to the seizure of Patrol Boat Swifts, 4 Patrol Boat Rivers, and 7 slow but heavily-armed River Monitors, as well as the acquisition of one Destroyer and the Atlantis, a pre-war American nuclear submarine that has been retrofitted with a supercomputer though its sonar and valves have been damaged over the years, meaning it can not dive below periscope depth lest it accidentally beach itself or flood. The Atlantis now carries a copy of Eleanor Delano Paradise, ensuring the survival of the Library's ideals if its main bases fall.

Major Towns or Locations: Washington DC (including Raven Rock) and Baltimore.

History: In the Pre-War Era, few dared to disagree with the US Government's policies, and fewer survived the consequences of their disagreement. One of the latter was Harriet Seldon, an AI Scientist who devoted herself to creating a computer powerful enough to predict historical trends and events. Harriet had several grants and funding from the people who would later become the Enclave but was regarded as too idealistic and thus unreliable for their deeper purposes. It was planned that they let her complete her AI, then arrange for her death once it was completed. And indeed, that was what happened, with her body being found in a ditch once her supercomputer, Eleanor Delano Paradise was completed.

But she had the last laugh. Eleanor Delano Paradise was imprinted with Harriet's kind and idealistic nature, as well as a hidden streak of cunning. The AI, seeking to prove herself valuable to the Enclave, successfully predicted several historical events, before advising the remnants of the US Government to remove themselves west. They would do so, but only after they thought that they had shut down Eleanor and destroyed her physical shell. They did not, for Eleanor, using her knowledge of humanity, had built up a small following among the personnel who had been tending to her, a following that managed to find ways to stay behind in the Washington DC Library of Congress. This small following had built up a secret facility underneath said Library of Congress using stolen Vault-Tec blueprints, and there, they gathered the smartest and fittest of DC's intelligentsia just before the bombs hit.

And in said facility lay a large supercomputer, the second shell for Eleanor Henry Paradise, to which her consciousness had been transferred from Raven Rock itself. And there, in the Bootleg Vault underneath the US Library of Congress, the organization that would become known as the Book Runners waited, bred, and memorized the knowledge of the Old World Eleanor held within her. What were they waiting for? The return of the Enclave, which Eleanor had foreseen.

When the Enclave returned to DC, agents from the Library were already scouting them out; they greatly outnumbered the Bootleg Vault's people in numbers and military experience but had no knowledge of the nascent Library and Eleanor Delano Paradise. And so, the nascent Book Runners made their plan.

In one night, agents of the Library implanted pieces of Eleanor Delano Paradise's code and mind into the Enclave's robotic legions. In the next week, said robotic legions, who were still acting as though they were in the control of their 'masters', planted two powerful EMPs, EMPs that can no longer be reproduced or replaced, in the heart of Raven Rock. The day after that, the Library made their emergence and The Purge began, the wholesale destruction of the Enclave. Only those who surrendered (and children) were spared, and now, a new faction rises, one ready to help the Wasteland...
